Hi, you all!     Rain overnight and now the sun is coming up.  Sounds like Camelot, doesn't it?

"The rain may never fall till after sundown.  By eight, the morning fog must disappear."

Larry, I hope that cough is gone today.  We had it, too, and it seemed to hang on forever.  Wears you down.  It will eventually go away but I agree that perhaps you should talk to your doctor to see if there is something that will give you some relief and rest.

Housework today, I think.  The dust bunnies have been busy re-producing everywhere!

Callie, my mother used to make the same "quick spaghetti".  I haven't even thought about Franco-American spaghetti for years!  It was always on hand in my mother's kitchen.  It's almost time for my Schwann's delivery so we have been trying to clean out the freezer to make room.  We had fantail shrimp with Pasta Florentine last night.  Really good.  And, thank goodness, I had some good Italian bread on hand, too!

MAKE it a good day, everyone!

Good Morning everyone. It is 11º here and calling for the high of 35º. you girls keep on Nagging at Larry until he pay's attention, I in three hitches had my breathing Machine on for 10 hours. but it lies just because on not sleeping. I am up and ready to eat late morning meal. Have a great day everyone.

Hi Everyone.  It is a beautiful and sunny day here and we are to get to the mid-50's again this afternoon.  I had to sleep in my easy chair again last night as couldn't get into a position to stop coughing and was able to get several hours of sleep.  However the cough is no better this morning and I already exhausted from coughing.  So this will just be another day to stay home and rest.  I just don't feel up to making individual comments again today.  Hopefully tomorrow will be better.  Please don't be worrying about me.  It is just something that is going to have to run its course.  Pat is pretty much over her bout with it and I have been to the doctor's office twice and assured my lungs are fine.  I have been to the doctor's office twice and am doing what I was told to do.  I know I just need to be patient.  Surprisingly with all the coughing I have never had a sore throat, for which I am thankful.

so_P_bubble

Larry, I hope tomorrow will see you better with cough subsiding. Have you tried Codeine syrup or codeine pills (some one mentioned it  already)? I know it is prescription but it is very effective for persisting cough.  That is what finally cured me last year.

Mary Ann

¢  Cent sign.  I went to Character map to find it.  So it is available, just too much work to get it.  If I have occasion to need the cent sign, I use the small 'c' (5c).

Mary Ann

so_P_bubble

You can always keep it on your desktop if you often need it and then copy/paste from there.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, when I finally went to bed after midnight it was raining and then there ws some light snow. Looks like some car doors frozen shut. I was watching them moving their cars for the sand truck to do it's job.

CAROL  with the headlights on cars now I sure am glad I no longer drive. Most of my family now except for the grands no longer like night driving.

SHIRLEY  I never could sing and even being alone I will not sing. Most of my family from my Mom to siblings all could sing. Around here have to be careful of deer running into the road.

GLORIA de  the things I have posted are some that JOAN posted and I saved because I liked them.

My Mom got something from her Indian grandmother for a chest cold. She had an old pie tin she would get warm, then add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of turpentine. Mix it good and take a piece of flannel and soak it in the mix and pin it to PJ's over the chest. Stunk but worked to break up congestion. I sure remember her doing that to me. The Native Americans used what they had and items from nature. These days everything is chemicals.

CALLIE  is this what you want?

¢ Use alt & 0162  ¢.

JENNY  I think everyone at one time or other needs words of encouragement. I was bothered by sciatica years ago and my doctor sent me for PT, It worked.

JANE  the cent sign ¢ is alt and 0162 on the number pad.

AMY  that poem was shared with me a long time ago. Glad you liked it enough to copy it. That y young man sure has been hit with so much, He will need all the prayers he can get.

PHYLLIS  we had the rain then a dusting of snow and a temperature drop as the sun decided to pay us a visit. I will stay inside again today.

LARRY  prayers that cough will leave you.

MARY ANN  I had copied many of those signs when I first started on a computer. I still have the pad I copied them to.

My daughter is still here..... on her way to the airport but doing a side trip for hamburgers (my treat with a "gift" card).. she has been updating & explaining the new iPhone to me.  BUT, about those little thingies... ©    ¢  °  .........I copied them to a WordPad that I pull up any time I'm going to be on the computer for a while, keep it minimized (also got all my fav words that need a reminder about spelling)......all I do is copy & paste which ever one I need.  These 3 I use a lot & appear on the word pad just like that.  I keep the word pad on my desktop so easy to pull up.  How about them apples?  Gotta run, middle of laundry, was cleaning out the bathroom sink with soda & vinegar.  I cut my hair over that sink so always miss this white hair & does clog up eventually.  Been getting in the tax forms in but one to go (SS).... would like to get that done NOW & give my poor brain a rest.  Had all the stuff taking care of CDs last week & my brain numb with creating new passwords.

Everyone behave, I'll check back tonight when I get a few minutes to slow down. I'd much rather be scrubbing floors (need to do that, too) than this brain work.

Jenny, I had a perfect sleep last night so no complaints today. Jenny, I am really feeling my age now…started on my 93rd. birthday and I was quite sick for a month and I think it is time for me to expect to feel tired and "my age". I don't mean these words as a complaint, I just want to be honest and admit…I am not the same June I was last year. I am happy and content and very thankful to be here. I really feel for YOU my dear. Being awakened with the terrible pain that I understand sciatica brings. What causes sciatica, and can they help you with medications. ? I pray God will touch you with His healing Love and remove that demon.

Mary Ann, as I tried to explain above to Jenny, I just have to accept what age does to us. I am really blessed…no bad pains, still a good appetite, bowels work wonderfully with my daily friend metamucil. The artery disease progresses…..nothing can be done for that, but I refuse to care.  I feel very blessed and very thankful that I do as well as I do. Just have to gripe now and then.I did go to the Clinic downstairs.

Phyllis, I too was an avid Franco American spaghetti user. It didn't have the tang most sauces have..it was easy on the stomach. I used campbells tomato soup when I made my own sauce for spaghetti, with added spices of course.

Bubble. my desk top is so handy..I do save a lot of "stuff" on it. Are you getting eager for your man to arrive ? I hope he has a safe and happy journey.

Tisie, I put newspaper over the sink when I cut my hair..easy clean up.

I need to do some laundry..if the room is available. so I'd better move along………
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Carol

Trying to behave as Shirley just told me to behave.  Shirley:  I boil water in a tea kettle and pour that over the drain after the soda and vinegar mixture is foaming.  Mama's trick.  We always had renters in the upstairs and we always had to fix things - I almost danced for joy when we finally had our own family house without having to 'be quiet' because there were people upstairs.  Mom was the most practical woman I ever knew.  I did not know about Vicks taking a fever down.  Good to know.

Amy:  I drove on ice (7 miles to work) for years in rural Minnesota but would be too frightened to do it today. Always ask for your angel.

Phyllis:  The Dust Bunnies come out at night and dance all over the house.

Lloyd:  Have a safe day whatever you are planning.

Gloria:  Spray WD-40 into the car locks whenever they are frozen.

We are on-call for dog-sitting as our DIL's mother is slipping away - I think we will stay at their rental place near Phoenix because there is a fenced yard and a nice pathway around water to walk the little doggie.  They move back to Colorado in 4 months.

We drove to our favorite thrift shop - all the money goes to local charities.  Don found a rake for $1 and I bought nice thread - I forgot to bring the bag of donations.

CallieOK

Good afternoon,

Gloria, that's exactly what I needed to know about the ¢ sign!!  Thank you!!!  I'd already memorized the º (Alt 1086) and will add this one to my memory bank.  Of course I'll also write it down somewhere until I can mentally bring it up automatically.

Larry,  since your medical exams aren't showing lung issues, etc.,  I suspect your coughing may be clearing things out.  Annoying and exhausting, though.   Hope you continue to improve.

Thought I might make Ham Loaf or Ham Salad Sandwich Spread today.  Seemed appropriate.  (Can't figure it out? Clue in last line of post.  :D)

There are a few housekeeping chores I need to do...if I can find the Round Tuit that keeps hiding away.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Happy Groundhog Day.

well I was in shop doing some scraping, cleaning up was good until the sun got too high to shine in the big door, then i got cold so I am in for the day I think.
Have a great day everyone.

June, my slowing down in my 90s has happened gradually and I am not aware of it until/unless I try something that I should not be doing.  I find in a hurry that I can't do whatever and that settles that.

Today I bought birthday cards for the babies in the family.  I got the $1 cards because there were no one-year or two-year cards in the 2 for $1.  I am sure the girls will get plenty of cards at their birthday party Saturday.  I just hope they are not ill and I think they've been in good health recently.  They are such cute little girls and I love their smiles.

One of my granddaughters, Emily, suffers from depression, among other mental disorders which often lays her low. She is in the midst of recovering from a bad session, and last week on a national day of recognition of mental illness she posted this,  and with her permission I have reprinted it here.

[Emily Reid

After many failed attempts to write something eloquent I'm just going to say it: I suffer from severe depression and this past year has been especially hard for me.

Days like today are important to end the stigma associated with mental health because without having the ongoing support I have had from my family/friends/community - I may not still be here today to advocate and share my story.

Please never hesitate to reach out and remember you are not alone in this fight.]

She is a beautiful, vivacious young lady (mid-twenties) with a razor sharp wit and is also a cancer survivor as well. Bubble has met her

Don, Emily is in my prayers, there has been a lot of mental illness in my family so I understand the stress, the fear, the need of prayer. and the HOPE that lies ahead. Thanks for sharing Don.

Good morning everyone..

We are back to the chilling temps again -4 ° at the moment with the promise of snow today and tomorrow. Today we are taking off for the day, heading to a wee town that contains my three/four deadly sins :) Chocolate, cheese, chealsea buns and fabric. I am doomed  :)

Don, thankfully now the medical profession understands more and more of this disorder and is able to better treat it. Prayers for Emily.

Callie,  did you go whole hog and make the both recipes? :)

Carol, always take my co pilot ,God with me too..black ice is not nice to encounter..

Better get a move on .

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning everyone. AMY I am with you except on the buns too much starch there. I sure like the chocolate covered candy all types I relay peanut butter cups and chocolate covered cherry's.  ( cheese slices chunks mild or sharp ) as I have said do not have sweet tooth it is teeth. It is 32º mostly cloudy and calling for 44º for our high. we have wend around 10 /15 mph and gusting. Have a great day.

Lloyd

Gloria

Good morning everyone. A whole 7° at almost 9am. Glad I am not going out. Windy, too so will feel even colder.

SHIRLEY  good luck with the iPhone. I have one but just could not understand it so it sits in the box it came in and it was back to a Tracfone flip phone.

JUNE  guess with age we all get new aches and pains, I know I sure have them these days, just have to live with them. Some days better than others. I wish I could enjoy that canned spaghetti of the jars of spaghetti sauce. I have to make my own sauce and the day is coming when I will no longer be able to do that.

CAROL  nothing worse than having noisy people living upstairs over  you. I am glad I am on the top floor with no one over me.  Only thing is I have wood floors and the lady down stairs under me can hear it when I walk around. Other than that I hake little noise. She introduced me to her daughter as the lady upstairs who roller skates upstairs.

CALLIE  I found all those shortcuts by bringing up the calculator in the PC and copying down many of them. They do come in handy at times. It is 0186 not 1086. “>” is what will come up with that one.

DON  hugs and prayers for your granddaughter.

AMY  better watch your wallet today going to all your favorite places.

LLOYD  it is colder here this morning, the sun is shining but doing little to warm it up.

Have a good day everyone.

When you thought I wasn't looking
By a Child

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I felt you kiss me good night and I felt loved and safe.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, "Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'"

well as the old saying says a bad penny returns , here I am when we were children lived in a small town around 150 total people. was a old man had coon hounds.  him and another neighbor would meet in a shed he had a old wood cook stove in it. he would get stale lard from the store and flower with weevil in it. and make pancakes for them. just cook them right on the stove top. also some times he would use good flower and make them thinner and we would eat them with cheese or peanut butter and jellies on them. how times have changed. in those days everyone looked out for each other. if you got caught being bad a neighbor would catch you and spank your back side. now days a parent can't spank there own children in sight of another person.
Have a great day.

Hi Everyone.  It is chilly, overcast morning here in South Carolina and won't get too warm today.  I seem to be feeling a bit better today.  This is the second day of having the antibiotic completed.  I will not win any races today.  I am planning on going to Wifesaver's later this afternoon to pick up our main meal of the day so Pat doesn't have to deal with cooking.  I did spend another night in my easy chair and had a pretty good nights sleep.

Gloria, some of the old medical techniques work as well as all these chemicals.  I can't imagine my life without music. For some reason I can't picture you on roller skates even though the lady below you think you use them.  :)  Very good piece about the thoughts of a child.

Shirley, I hope you enjoy the new iPhone.  I wouldn't want to do without a smart phone anymore and expect to use my iPhone 6 Plus for several more years.  It seems to me you use your brain very effectively.

Carol, it seems there are a lot of thrift shops out in Arizona and I suppose it is probably due to all the people who come there to spend the winter.

Callie, I always like ham salad for sandwiches with a lot of sweet pickle relish in it.

Lloyd, Pat has been fixing tea with lemon and honey in it.  Oddly enough with all the coughing I haven't had a sour throat throughout this entire 2 week episode.  I have heard of the remedy you suggest.

Don, that was  nice piece written by your granddaughter.  Member of my family also deal with mental issues and I know they are serious matters.

Amy, I hope you have a fun shopping trip today in that very cold weather.

Mary Ann

Don, that was a very well thought out message from your granddaughter.  So many people do not reach out to others, especially family and friends, and they suffer from it.

My brother, Norm, was depressed at times, but not always,  His son, Terry, also suffered from depression and had shock treatment which did not work.  He had to quit working for a living but was a big help to all of us after that, however, still depressed at times.  He died last April, but not from the depression.  Norm died in November 2015, also not from depression.

Denver

Thank you for all the kind words regarding my back pain.

MARYANN, I readup on Sacroiliac Pain and it definitely seems to fit my pain issues.  I thought I was doing better today, but I think I have irritated it by moving around too much getting laundry done, and the like.  I did read about your X-ray mix up at the doctors office.  I hope you all had a safe journey to the twins birthday party today.

CAROL, I am sorry your dil’s father is not doing well and you are having to doggie sit in Phoenix.  I wish someone needed me to house sit in AZ right now...8 would sure enjoy the nice warm temperatures you all are having.

JUNE, I totally understand that you have slowed down quite a lot due to some health issues.  That is exactly what has happened to my 93 year old dad, as well.  He is upset with himself for letting this old age stuff get to him.  I want to go spend some time with him but it seems it is not convent for them right now.  We would just go down and get a place to stay but right now the airfare and hotels are extremely pricey at this time of the year.  Just take care of yourself and do what your body tells you it feels like doing!  Hugs to you, sweet lady.

GLORIA, I can understand your frustration with trying to use a iPhone, but they can do so much and I wish you could have the patience to give it another try.  Thank you for the “codes” for the cents sign. It will not work on this iPad or the iPhone as there is no “alt” key! I ðŸ'• your, when you were not looking.  I have seen that before but I really enjoyed reading it again.

I can’t believe a week has passed since the fun weeding day....we are all still talking and smiling about it.

SHIRLEY, the best to you on your new iPhone.  Glad that your daughter is there to help you out with figuring the phone out.

DON, thank you for sharing your Granddaughter Emily’s post.  She sounds like a delightful young lady that is doing her best to deal with this every struggle.  I remember you mentioning her cancer bout as well.  My best wishes for her and I will keep her in my daily prayers.

Nice to see your post, PHYLLIS.  I guess we all have to keep up with those reproducing dust bunnies!

Dryer is calling my name, so I must scoot.

Hugs to all and especially the ones I did not comment to today.

Jenny

LARRY, I agree with you....I just could not get by without my smart phone!  Glad that each day you are feeling a bit better.  You are doing just what you need to do...take it easy and let your body heal.

Lloyd, Norm was my brother.  Many of the older people who post knew him from other folders.  If you have noticed Norm's Bait & Tackle, that was Norm's folder.  He posted often until he got too sick to post.

Jenny, Dot is in quite a lot of pain with her Sacro Iliac Bone Disease, but she is going to a pain doctor who I think is helping.  She made it to Holland and back today to attend the twins' birthday party but she said on the way back her hips hurt.  Dot is 87 so we commiserate with each other.  We go to church together (she drives) and she sits in the back on a soft chair and can hear OK; I sit near the front so I can both see and hear.  Others who sit near me are near my age bracket, so we all have our own aches and pains.

Six p.m. and I am just now dragging my way in here. My excuse ? I have no idea…..the day just disappears from my life.I had no programs to attend, I went down at mid  morning to attend a program for a resident, and was told that happened yesterday. More proof that my awareness is getting very rusty.

I spent the rest of the morning placing a grocery order to be delivered on Monday. Then went down for lunch, home to nap for two hours, then read, walked, rested, and here I am. I will fix some supper soon…..left-overs from lunch, then settle down for more rest and reading. One of my favorite entertainers is performing at the club house at 6:30 but I'm passing on that.

Amy, my dear one, I do not consider your feeding your taste buds deadly sins.  If I were a holy one, I would absolve you, and I hope God is smiling at both of our foolish selves. You are NOT doomed.God wants his kids to enjoy the life He has given us.

Gloria, dear, dear friend. I no longer cook. I left all my cookbooks back in Hemet. When I "make" supper, or lunch or breakfast, it comes from a can, a box or a jar, with minor cleanup..I use lots of paper plates. It must be boring for you to have to stay inside when the weather is so bad. I know you like getting out, and it is needful to get some exercise and greeting your neighbors. I wish you were my next door neighbor right here in Rowntree Gardens. You would love it.

Larry, you are sounding stronger today, but don't push you luck. I wish you could find a restaurant that delivered meals to you.

Mary Ann, my brother spent years fighting depression, and my mother had that problem for a while too…I was the clown that did not allow it into my life. God was my salvation. Norm never struck me as anything but a "fun" person. He was a good actor, I guess.

Jenny, I'm sorry Your Dad is having a problem accepting the age we share. It is difficult, I know. But it really helps me to try and look on the thankful side. We are alive, we can see, and think and hear and read and sleep and eat and breathe. Don't push visiting him Jenny. At our age it is a chore to "entertain", even our kids. I love my family more than my life, and we keep almost daily contact on the computer, the phone, etc.,and it is relaxing and interesting and necessary, but if they don't bring their bodies along with their visits, that's just fine with me.

It's going on seven o'clock…time for me to have a light supper and get ready for bed. I hope to go down for Church tomorrow and Dori and Gary plan to stop by later in the day before they leave on the trip to Hawaii on Monday, They need it.

Have a God Blessed night my wonderful cyber family. I love you So much. June
