Good morning everyone, another cold one at 13°. The sun is shining and the sky is blue so it might warm up.

LARRY  I do not blame anyone for staying off the roads when they are slippery. One thing about the CNAs I have is that all live here in town so from my home to theirs is no more than 10 minutes. Then an accident can happen just around the corner from home. I am at the stage I eat because I know I have to, not because I am hungry. Yesterday my son that lives 3 miles away came and brought me some of his home made baked beans.  He uses my old recipe and I got it from watching my mother preparing them. I had some for my supper last night and they were very good. That Crabby old Lady reminded me of a lady at the nursing home where my daughter worked. Her family brought her there and never went back. She wanted to be outside every day. The staff called her the unofficial greeter. When I went to get my daughter after her shift I would get out of the car and go and talk to her. Not many did but the ones that did saw her eyes light up. When my daughter had a break in the kitchen she would go and visit with her. Very sad how her family never bothered with her. Out of sight out of mind.

SHIRLEY I had that in a folder and the date was 5 years ago so most likely it was one Joan posted. Told you I had saved many of them.

JANE  I always loved the taste of BBQ sauce but it did not like me. My family knew so when cooking on the grill they left chicken or ribs for me with no sauce.

JUNE  the washers here have so many settings and instructions you have to read every thing before you start. If you want to add fabric softener you have to sit there and listen to the washer so you know when to add it, no dispenser for it. Crazy, I don't use the softener so my CNA does not waste time sitting there. I preferred white vinegar instead, got all soap out and the clothes were soft. The smell did not last, good thing. I learned that from a man who sold and repaired washers.

SHIRLEY  I have an appointment with the witch Monday. It is annual  re-certification time. 2 years it did not because 1 year no SS raise and last year $2.00 and she cannot take half of your raise, only 1/3 and they work with whole dollars.

LLOYD  I am hoping it warms up enough here so later I can go out for a walk and fresh air.

JANE  hope the snow holds off till you get home.

AMY hope the garage has the part today.

For a chuckle, this is one Hal sent me 3 years ago.

Hillary and Donald walk into a bar

Hillary: "I give up! ... Oh wait, I think I got it! You mean that 65 million low-information voters who don't pay taxes and get free stuff from taxpayers and stuck middle class tax-paying citizens again with the most pandering, corrupt administration in American history?"
Trump: "THAT'S THE ONE!"

Good morning to all the early morning friends..........Amy, Jane, Lloyd and Gloria.

Finally, the sun is shining. But, it is still very cold.  Still only in the 20's.  Supposed to be a rainy week end, but warmer temperatures.  There is still a lot of ice crystals on the pine trees outside of my window.  That also tells me it is still very cold.  Looks pretty, tho, with the sun shining on the icy limbs.

Amy, sorry you have to make another trip to the auto mechanic.   You always seem to take things in stride.  I guess that is the best thing to do when something happens you can't do anything about it.

Gloria,  when we have our re-certification,  it only takes a short while.  I only have to take proof of my SS and bank statements, and nothing is ever mentioned about taking part of my SS raise,  which was very minimal this past year.  My rent only goes up about $20 each year, which I feel, isn't bad at all.   They already have everything documented when I go down.  Just a lot of papers to sign, mainly about rules and regulations.  I am sorry that you have such a terrible manager.  I don't really have a lot of dealings with our manager.  I speak to her when I see her, but I don't really see her that much.  She usually is very pleasant to me, but I do know that some of the residents don't like her.  The one we have now is the 7th or 8th one since I moved here in 2007.   Most of the ones that have been here are just not trained well  enough to handle all they need to know about managing this kind of a place.   Lots of residents feel like the management company just don't want to pay a good enough salary to get someone that has been trained well in management.  We had a man a few years ago, and he was the best manager we had ever had, but he lived over an hour away and wanted to get something closer to where he lived.  We all were really sorry to see him leave.  He did his job so well.

I need to get on with my day.  Not sure what I will get into, but do need to clean up my breakfast dishes and get dressed.

Have a great day.

Hi Everyone.  I am getting a late start this morning.  I had an 8 am doctor's appointment, a routine appointment with the GP, and all is well.  My son went with me  to Costco with me for some shopping and then helped getting the groceries into the house and we had purchased a lot of meat so he helped me get it packed and into the freezer.  Of course, we sent him home with a stock for his freezer plus a few other items.  The housekeeper is here and is about through in the bedroom.  I am feeling better each day and almost back to normal but worn out and ready to rest so am passing on individual comments today.  I did read all of the postings.

JaneS

I'm home and I didn't have to do the long registers at all today and it didn't snow!  Now if my register had not decided to be contrary and need extra attention, it would have been a pretty good day.  Oh well!  It WAS a pretty good day.

Cathy texted me that she's going to the Amish store after work and did I want to go along.  I asked her what time and I'm waiting for an answer.

LARRY REST!  And that's an order...or a strong request!  Take care, my friend!

I think I'll just goof off until I hear from Cathy and then I'll go with her!  Enjoy your day my friends!

It has been snowing for a while now......and it will keep on snowing for 3 days..... :snowball:

Took the vehicle in and the part was in but while up on the hoist the mechanic noticed another problem and fixed that also. He said it may have lasted  for a bit but if it gave out we could be left along side the road ,better to fix it now. What is that saying? A stitch in time saves nine.
Stated cutting out another quilt and it is taking a bit to get it all done..
a lot of little pieces to cut.

Joy, I don't mind trouble outside the home, it is when it comes in eg sickness I don't care for.

Jane, have fun at the Amish store!!!

Larry, I find going to the city just tuckers me out..I would rather do a days work at home.

Lloyd, hope you found the extra zzzz's

Janie, I'm wakened at 6 a.m. for a thyroid pill which limits me to food for just a half hour, plus a nitro patch on my leg….if I can find a leg that is usually wrapped up in the sheets, then she fills up my breathing machine with stuff, and is on her way to more patients down the hall.So I'm in league with your dogs, but I don't have a "boing"…just a trip to the bathroom and a bunch of yawns.

Gloria, the Hilary/Trump conversation made me giggle…..and I'll bet our Hal got a good laugh on that one. Gee, I sure miss that guy !

Larry, I'm so happy you had good news from todays doctor, plus a good son that helped you with the groceries..now you can sit back and rest for a few days.

Amy, give the girls a hug from me,and take one for you too.  June

I took today off and needed it. I'm going down to check my mailbox, then home to heat up a frozen chicken pie then get ready for the night.

I love you my friends. My prayer is for God's gift of good health and a peaceful mind. We are SO Blessed. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

I'm off to Dreamland in a few minutes but I wanted to see everyone elso off, too.  I got some good bargains at at the Amish store and enjoyed spending the time with Cathy.  She wouldn't let me hug her, though.  She says she's catching something and she wants to keep it all to herself and not share it with me.  That's OK!  I miss the hugs but she can keep her "something".

Good night my friends!  Sleep wall. Wake refreshed and know that God is with you!

Good morning everyone..

I think we got off lucky for snow....not enough out there to worry about. :nanadance: Now maybe I should be careful on what I say as the weather guesser said more snow for today and tomorrow! Temp is + 12° F .

Looks like I will be able to hang the laundry out today. :)

Roley, great to see you and glad you had a chance to talk with Bubble and Don! Prayers for you for next Thur. and hope to see you in here more often.

Jane, don't you just love getting the bargains?  Lots of fun spending time with kids too..Cathy is wise not to share BUT don't forget when she is feeling better she owes you an extra hug :)

June, thank you for the hug and no problem giving the girls a hug for you. I really miss Hal, every time I hang my laundry out I think of him hanging his out on the laundry thingy.

Better go see what mischief I can get into .

Enjoy your day everyone.

JaneS

Good morning Everyfriend!  I have absolutely NO plans for today!  There are some things I MIGHT do but they are not necessary if I decide not to do them.

AMY, your snow must be the kind I refer to as "driver over" snow.  It doesn't have to be shoveled but it doesn't stop me either.  Did you ever get your chimney swept?  I think you might have said you were going to wait for a warmer day.  Do you actually get "warm" at this time year where you live?

JUNE, I bet you could have a "boinger" if you want one.  Mine is the timer on my cell phone.  I have it set to make  a unique "boing" sound that the dogs recognize when their pill time is over.  Sometimes they get antsy earlier and all I have to say is "wait for the boing" and they know that's what they have to do.

There is ONE thing I plan to do.  I'm going to reconcile my check book and then gather what I need for my taxes.  My son does them for me and I think I might be last on his list.  That's OK because I'm probably the only one who doesn't pay him to do them.

ROLEY, please add my best wishes for good results on your Thursday visit to the hospital.  I hope all goes well for you.

Everyone, take today and make it yours.  Do what you wish with it and enjoy!

Amy, thanks to you we enjoyed a good dinner of Home Baked Beans last night, too.  It was delicious!  Your earlier (a few days ago) post with Jane made it sound so good so I bought some canned pork and beans at the grocery store and made up some yesterday.  Much to my amazement I found two cans of Van Camp Pork and Beans on the grocery shelves and decided to get those rather than Campbell's or Bush's.  I didn't know that Van Camp still was in business!  (Apparently, it is now owned by ConAgra.)  That was the brand that my mother bought most of the time but I hadn't seen their brand for years.  And, does anyone here remember "Beenie Weenie"?

We're in for several days of rain but, at least, it is supposed to be warmer.  I can deal with that and we need the rain, anyway.  I can do some reading and watch some of the Olympics and maybe even do some housework?  Joan, would have given me some demerits for that!  Sure miss her.

Peter, it is so good to hear from you again.  Good luck with the tune up on your pace maker.  You are a fighter in the way that you deal with your health issues.  But, I think all of us here in the Soda Shoppe are fighters.  We don't let life get us down.....at least, not for very long.

Stay well, everyone, and I'll talk to you all later.

Good morning everyone, not raining yet  but will be coming in later and most  of tomorrow. 35° now but is to go up to 50°. The weather gal just said that along the coast they could get 3 inches, not that much here.

JOY  I agree when trees are covered in ice and the sun shines it is like diamonds sparkling. The manager here is only the second one here.  Before I moved here some tenants tried to get a petition signed to get rid of her. There is not one tenant who likes her. She wants to charge tenants for anything that goes wrong in their apartments. Like me, I had a problem with the fridge/freezer. The drain from the freezer was blocked and the maintenance man had to call the company. They sent a man here and he drained that line. No more problems, now she wants me to pay $700 for a new fridge. Heck I did nothing to it and it was put in when this place was built. That is just one thing in the building she wants people to pay for.

LARRY  just going through Costco is enough to wear anyone out. As long as you dome in and say hello we will know you are OK. Just rest as much as you want/need.

JANE  hope you enjoyed your trip to the Amish store but did not spend too much.

AMY  glad you have a good mechanic who looks out for y our vehicles.

JUNE  I think we all miss Hal. His death was so sudden it shocked every one.

ROLEY  good to see  you. I wish you the best nest week on your hospital trip.

AMY  not too much mischief for you to get into today I hope.

PHYLLIS  my oldest son called me yesterday and asked if I wanted some baked beans. Of course I said yes. He gets the urge to make them at times and knows those are the only kind I will eat. He asked me my recipe and it was the one my Mom used. That was my supper last night.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone on a foggy South Carolina morning.  We have the possibility of rain in the forecast later today but we will be in the mid-70's this afternoon.  After a pretty busy three days, at least for me, I find myself without much energy this morning.  I don't think I have completely recovered from whatever had laid me up for 2 1/2 weeks.  My calendar is clear for today so will just rest and take in some of the Olympic coverage later today and perhaps watch some golf later this afternoon.  I have already emptied the dishwasher and have things ready to fix Pat's breakfast when she gets up.

Jane, nice to see you had a work day with short registers to use for your shift.  Glad it was a pretty good day for you. It sounds like you had a good trip to the Amish store.  I hope Cathy isn't coming down with the flu.  Yesterday they had a sign in the doctor's office saying they wouldn't be shaking hands due to our flu situation.  I think that is a very good policy and probably should stay in effect.  I am taking you up on your rest order for me today and hope you will also give yourself a day of rest today.

Phyllis, my wife often makes baked beans and always doctor's them up with barbeque sauce, onions and I don't know what else.  I hope you are getting some of the warmer weather we are experiencing.  Rain is in our forecast for the next couple of days as well.

Amy, I had the same experience the last time I took my PT Cruiser in for an oil change as they found I needed new front tires and another problem or two.  We sure don't want to get stuck along the side of the road and in your case with so much cold and snow that would be particularly bad.  Do you belong to a motor club in case you get stranded on the road?  I agree that getting out, while enjoyable usually, can be very tiring.  Glad to see you didn't get slammed with snow last night.  If you hang your clothes out they should freeze dry pretty quickly.

June, I did really appreciate the help my son gave me yesterday as I had a big order and it included a number of very heavy items.  I couldn't get an electric cart yesterday at Costco so had to walk but didn't experience any problems doing so as I took thing very slow.  I hope you enjoyed your day off yesterday.

Roley, I have had a pacemaker/defibrillator  for over 10 years and it is a simple thing for them to adjust them as they just use a piece that they put over the pacemaker and then the machine can read all of the information and the tech can make any needed adjustments.  Sorry you have to experience the ambulance ride to get that done as those are usually pretty uncomfortable, at least they are here in America as the ambulances don't seem to have any springs and it is a very rough ride.  I look forward to your return and your subsequent postings.

Gloria, it sounds like you will be having a bit of a heat wave if it gets into the 50's.  I am sure you are ready for some warmer weather. You certainly shouldn't have to pay to replace the refrigerator since it was a part of the apartment.  I wonder how often she gets away with such a stunt with other tenants.  The "Hymns for Everyone" is certainly clever.

Carol

Greetings and good health to everyone.  I am in a mini rush this morning after being wide-awake at 2 AM. for a couple of hours.  We can buy 60 lbs. of fresh veggies for $10 at our church parking lot today.  It may be a mob coming from all over the city of Tucson so this will be interesting.

The pack of javelinas have not been stopping by to wreck our yard but you never know.  They are protected - even after biting a local resident.  Fish and Wildlife (we pay their wages) won't even take the phone calls.

Read your notes - concerns for all - keep on keeping on.

roley

Again, Thank you all, how right you are Larry, i think our 'Pick-up' Ambulances are usually the one's near to the end of their working lives !, like Elvis, i was all 'shook up' when they brought me home last time, i think they must have found every POT HOLE in the road ! still, it was worth it, just to get back home again, thank you for the info ! Cheers Peter.  aka Roley

Joy

Good afternoon,  since it isn't morning anymore.

I was out early to go to the blood lab and then my son and I went to breakfast.  It is an old home-style restaurant where we went and it is owned by a family, who has a big orchard and farm on the property.  There is also a produce market, bakery, and ice cream shop included.  The produce is kind of sparse right now, but lots of all kinds of apples.  I did get some apples, blueberries, a small pie, and some peach jam.   Left home about 7:30  and was back by 10:30.  Didn't have to wait that long at the lab and the we got breakfast pretty quick.

Gloria,  like Larry said,  you are not responsible for any appliances included with your apartment.  Our place is owned by the management company, which is in Boston, I think.  Every once in a while , a representative of that company will come and have a meeting asking for complaints and suggestions.  What a shame that you don't have someone come from the company that owns the place.  I understand the resident's reluctance to file complaints, as, from how you describe the manager, she could really make life miserable.  However, there sure seems like something or someone could be made aware of how she treats the residents.  Do you have a county agency that deals with Seniors?   A county representative that oversees the Senior Centers or a similar group??   I really feel bad for you, as when you don't like where you are living, it makes life very miserable, I am sure.

Time to look for some lunch, and then I will read for a while and eventually have a nap.  It is not nearly as cold as it has been, but a kind of dreary, drizzly day.  Supposed to be more rain tomorrow.  A good nap day.

Jane, happy you were able to get to the Amish store and got some good bargains.  We have several Amish markets in the general area, but haven't been to one for a good while.

Larry, I am glad that you are feeling a little better, but maybe you kind of over-did it yesterday.   Use the week end to rest up and don't do anything you don't want to.  I saw most of the opening ceremonies from the Olympics last night, but wasn't really impressed by it.  Some of the previous ones were a lot better.  My son was telling me something this morning that he heard that there had been some kind of an altercation between the Korean athletes and several were ejected from the arena.  I haven't heard anything about that.  I sure hope that everything will go well without any  more kind of trouble with the Koreans.
It was interesting that the sister of that guy in North Korea was sitting right behind VP Pence and his wife.

Have a good afternoon.

I see I haven't posted here since before Feb 1 so I thought I should put something here.  I have not done anything worth mentioning, but my health is the same as before.  My shoulder hurts but I can't do anything about it and I cope.

Today is a low snow day but we may get more tonight and Sunday.  I'm happy I don't live where there has been so much snow, but since I don't drive, I guess I don't care.

Take a look at Grand Haven - people have walked out on the pier past the light house.

A good Saturday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

It is snowing like crazy, so we are IN for the day.  We knew this storm was coming, so prepared for it.

Yesterday we decided to head up the to the mountains.....enjoyed the drive up so much, but not the drive down.  Bad fog moved in and the traffic was terrible.  It was 19* and the roads looked wet and slick, but the crazies were driving like it was a clear blue sky day.  Especially pickup trucks, which are the worse as the6 have no weight in the back end.  I did do a bit of gambling and am happy to say I came out with more than I went with.  Sure can not complain about that!

Last night Dr. Dave and Grandson Matt camped out..... along with other Scouts fulfilling requirement for Eagle Scouts.  I worried about them all night long, even though I knew they went well equipped with correct camping gear.  They said they did just fine and kept nice and warm in their sleeping bags in the tent, but the bottle of water at their heads froze solid!  I personally do not understand the need to camp in  temperatures  in the teens.

We watched the opening ceremonies from Korea last night, but did not see or hear about any problems between the N and S Korean’s. If I were a N. Korean I would find a way to hide out and never go back to an Korea!

GLORIA, evey time you mention that old bag of a manager at your place I get so angry with her....she sure does a poor job of managing and seems to be nothing more than do her best to intimidate her residence. If she gets by with most things she tries to push off on the residence, more than likely the owners like her because she saves them money!

LARRY, that sounded like a big COSTCO shopping day for you....especially since you had to walk!  Glad that Scott was able to go with you to help.   Continue to take it easy and feel stronger.

JANE, I always like to hear that you have been shopping at the Amish Store.  Glad you are able to take it easy toda6 also!

I am thinking about putting some pinto beans in my pressure cooker....they cook quickly and turn out delicious.

I wish you all a good rest of your Saturday.

What a pleasure to come in, even though I am so late, and find you all chattering away. I love you, my cyber friends. You never chide me for being late, you all share so much of yourselves, and I do appreciate every word you write.

This was my day. Woke at 4 a.m. for no good reason at all. Didn't have to visit John...no noises in the hallway...no storms out side, just woke up , all slept out.

I did get on the computer and enquired about Focus Groups. I attended one here on Thurs. It was interesting reading. Started in WW11 era. now grown into all area of interest to the public. Then I went on to a G.E. web site and found how to operate our new beautiful washing machine. They must have built them for folks with a doctorate.

Then it was time for lunch, then home to a nice Loooonnnggg nap. Went down to pick up my mail...a cute Valentine from my Santa Cruz kids and their five dogs. Now it is time to fix some supper. I am not hungry. Do I have to eat ???I there some law about eating food ? I have some left over soup, and canned fruit, so I will eat just to use it up.

Peter, it is always a joy to see your posting. An ambulance trip can be very costly out here, I have paid two hundred dollars and my son said they can run up to two thousand dollars. Last trip I took the attendant was perspiring..told me he almost lost me. They carry every life saving machine right there in the ambulance, so it is reassuring to know one is in excellent care. As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good morning everyone...

All too soon the music will start and my dance begin. We are so blessed here, while all around us they have 5-6 inches of new snow we only got about 3  That will be dealt with at a decent hour, too early to run a machine now.

We are to get more snow today but some will also get rain then snow,I hope we are too far north for the rain.

June, like you I woke way too early and I can see a nap in my future today. I am going to rename John, Jim then I can say I go to the Jim (gym) every morning..  :2funny:

Jenny, glad you made it off the mountain with no mishaps. Driving in fog is hard on the eyes and nerves!

Lloyd, hubby calls that a lazy wind, rather go through you than around you!!

Joy, one seniors home  in the area has now started to have continental breakfasts and the residence have to get their own. This is not going over with them either. The men folk made it clear they don't like this new(cheaper) idea.

Carol, that is really a good buy for the vegetables. What all would you get in a box?

Larry, it is such a joy to see your posts  ,take lots of time to rest, you sure don't want that back again.

Tea is ready, fire is on...

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and attem on this rainy morning.  It's 34º and has been raining since around 8 last night.  It is predicted to continue raining all day.  It's going to be a kind of dreary day.

I'll be off to get ready for church in a few minutes but I wanted to say something to Jenny about camping.  I was a Girl Scout leader for about 50  years and I've camped in all kinds of weather.  One year I had a troop that decided they wanted to came in every season.  That includes WINTER.  The first time we went in on clear roads and got settled in and overnight it snowed 8 inches of new snow.  What an experience!  Those of you who are not campers can't begin to understand that feeling!

[color=blueSorry, I hit something that prevented me from typing and since I don't know what it was, I had to shut down to get rid of it.

To continue...

We had all day Saturday in the snow in the wilderness and it was awesome!  If you've never sat around a campfire with a bunch of kids in the dark on a snowy evening, you don't know what you're missing.

Then when we travelled west we camped on the shores of Yellowstone Lake at the end of July.  Temps dropped into the high teens overnight and we woke to ice on our water bucket and on the ends of our fingers and toes.  That was also awesome!  One kid said "I wouldn't have wanted to miss this for anything in the world."  I breathed a "Me either!"

Gotta go get dressed before the boinger goes for the doggies.  Enjoy your day.[/color]

Good morning everyone, well it is morning but it is raining again. I went out to walk my son to his car yesterday and it started a light r ain while I was walking back. Just a drizzle on and off but last night it poured. Right now it looks like a drizzle again. Already 45° so no fear of freezing. Supposed to be a warmer than normal week ahead, Good on Thursday my older son is taking me to get some new shoes. The ones I have now need replacing. Then if I am not too tired he will take me to WallMart to use my gift card.

LARRY  the manager is crazy. She will pick on someone and make life miserable. There is one lady here that moved in when the opened up. The witch started with her after she first was hired. Threatened her with eviction for smoking in her apartment. That lady has never smoked so got a lawyer and then the witch started on someone else. Now it  is my turn. I do not remember where I got those Hymns from. Glad you liked them, too.

CAROL  glad you survived the lack of sleep. Know how that feels.

ROLEY/PETER  always good seeing you post and glad you are home.

JOY  the witch said the fridge is nicotine stained from my smoking in here. As if I can afford to waste money to buy them. A few have got in touch with the owners but they like her so never checked out the complaints.

MARY ANN  I no longer drive but worry about family members who have to drive on bad roads in the winter. So many mornings they worn of black ice.

JENNY  glad you took home more $$$ that you left in the mountains. Sounds like a bad drive on the way home. You are right, the witch must save the owners money so she can do no wrong.

JUNE  like you I eat because I know I have to but am never hungry. I used to have a big appetite but then I was very active.

LLOYD  hope you had a good sleep last night.

AMY  nothing worse than getting rain after a snowfall. That is when everything turns to ice and is dangerous.

LLOYD  I rather have y our 14°  than what we have now in the 40's. That is more normal for this time of year than the warm one we  are having.

JANE we went camping from early spring till late fall but never in winter. Must be quite an experience to wake up and see all the fresh show.

Have a good day.

The 23rd Psalm for Working People
(Author Unknown)

The Lord is my real boss and I shall not want.
He gives me peace, when chaos is all around me.
He gently reminds me to pray before I speak,
And to do all things without murmuring and complaining.
He reminds me that He is my Source and not my job.
He restores my sanity everyday and guides my decisions
That I might honor Him in everything I do.

Even though I face absurd amounts of emails,
System crashes, unrealistic deadlines, budget cutbacks,
gossiping co-workers, discriminating supervisors
And an aging body that doesn't cooperate every morning,
I will not stop - for He is with me!

His presence, His peace, and His power
Will see me through.
He raises me up,
Even when they fail to promote me.
He claims me as His own,
Even when the company threatens to let me go.

His faithfulness and love
Are better than any bonus check.
His retirement plan beats every 401K there is!
When it's all said and done,
I'll be working for Him a whole lot longer
And for that, I bless His Name.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be a rainy but warm day here in South Carolina.  I was so tired yesterday that I spent most of the day laying down and not feeling energetic today.  I will miss Church for the third week in a row as just not up to going.  We just realized that today is our Great Granddaughter's Birthday so our small birthday gift for her is going to be late.  I will send her a Jacqie Larson card later this morning.

Carol, hope you were able to get the vegetables and that is quite a bargain.  However, that is a lot of veggies.

Roley, you are welcome.

Joy, that sounds like a nice outing and a great place to have breakfast.  Like you I really wasn't impressed by the Olympics Opening Ceremonies.  I heard them say that the people in attendance were not seeing all of the computer type graphics that were shown on TV.  I hadn't heard about any altercation either.

Lloyd, it sounds like yesterday was a good day to stay in where it was warm.  I always felt for our cattle having to be out in the cold but they do generate a lot of heat and when they got covered with snow it was sort of like a blanket for them as held the body heat in.

Jenny, you were lucky to come home with more money than you went with as that sure was never my case.  I am glad you got home safely.  When my son was in Scouts they camped every month regardless of the weather.  I well remember one winter month that it must have been 20 below and they spent the weekend camping.  He still remembers the experience and not with very happy memories of that camp out.  It was the most I had ever spent at Costco at one time but wanted to stock our son's freezer as well as ours and meat is expensive.  We are just glad we are in a position that we can help him out.  He works very hard but doesn't make much money and our granddaughter, who lives with her father, isn't able to work due to health reasons so is an added burden on him.

June, several years ago I was in one hospital but they needed to do the stent in the cath lab in the hospital that is latterly across the street.  I was connected to all of this heart monitoring equipment and they put me in an ambulance and drove across the street.  I remember the bill was over $600.  I was shocked and so thankful for health insurance.

Amy, hope you don't get too much snow.  I got a little laugh out of your renaming the John to Jim.  I guess I have had a mini relapse from whatever I had.  Fortunately I felt reasonably well those three days last week and was able to go to my doctor appointments and get to Costco.

Jane, camping has never been something I wanted to do.

Gloria, glad to see you were able to get outside even if just for a few minutes.  Hope you are able to get out this week as you have planned. It is amazing that your apartment manager can hold on to her job.  She must have no supervision over her.  She must be a very unhappy person to be so mean to others.  Someone sent me an email with those Hymns just a afew days ago and I thought they were very cleaver.  What would a nicotine stain on the refrigerator have to do with it not operating properly or a water line getting clogged?  Neither Pat nor I have ever been smokers but our children did (and do) much to our dislike.  However, our son and granddaughter are adults and have to make their own decisions. However, they will not smoke in our house.  I love that 23rd Psalm for Working People.
