Good morning everyone.

We did get a bit of snow overnight...just a skiff . VON comes today and then I need to run to the feed mill and get some bird seed, can't have the wee birds holding their tummy!

Lloyd, we would put a piece of insulation the foam kind not the batting over the water hole and put snow on top of that and when we needed to open the water hole up just remove the snow and insulation and you didn't have to chop ice.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day..

Tea/coffee is ready along with lemon cranberry muffins.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRLEY!

and stay warm.

Snow is expected here tomorrow so I'll be sure that we have what we need in the fridge and pantry.  I'll get over to BJ's later this morning to stock up, if necessary.  I need to renew my membership, too. The snow shouldn't stick around long since the temps. are supposed to be well above freezing later in the week.

Wondering how Hal is doing.  Hope he is improving and getting ready to go home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRLEY! above all stay in and stay warm. yesterday even with a hood and gloves on my ear and fingers started stinging and feet started feeling cold. don't have a cab on tractor i feed with. i use my brothers tractor as it has a front end loader to un role the big bales with. it is currently -4º  @ 6:46 and  calling for only 10º today. I have wood on front porch. have a cart to haul it in with it has a crazy wheel on each end and little taller wheels full with in the middle it is about 5 foot long with standards on front end so makes a pile of wood 3.5 tall and 5 long at one time, lasts about two days in the fireplace.
I built doors and a insert in it with a blower on it. the doors keep sparks from popping out in the flour to cause a fire. it blows hot air out front.helps on tmp. down there. have a great warm day.

Good morning everyone.  Not a good night, cough, cough.  Haven't seen doctor yet so no word on going home.  Oncoming nurse said she had to clear ice off windshield but tv reports are not that bad, I don't think.

Happy birthday pretty lady, Shirley.  Hope you have a good one to warm this cold day.

Everyone have a great day.

Good morning everyone, sun is shining but snow will be coming later and stay into morning according to the forecast. Who knows.

JANE  yesterday's snow did not last either but is was nice to watch some big flakes floating by my window. We have no more on the grass here, with th warmer temperatures and all the fog then rain we had only the piles from the plow are still around.

JUNE  I know we would be good friends if we lived near each other. Being in each others pockets is not the best way to be friends, you are right. I believe God will watch over Regina, not because she is my daughter but because she is a good caring person.

JANE  glad your car has a new battery. Wish a new battery could be installed in me so I could have some energy.

GLORIA de  I do love Skype, we see each other and she has taken her iPad around her new home and showed me what they have done in there. She takes it outside at times and shows me around her area. Only way I will ever see where they now live. Like you I am having a problem keeping warm this winter.

AMY  after shrimp who could want something else? I love shrimp.

LLOYD  just saw local weather report, this are might get 5 to 7 inches of new snow. I'll believe it when I see it.

Good morning.

We had a little bit of snow overnight, but supposed to get more later tonight and tomorrow morning.  Will make for slow traveling and delayed school openings.

I am so tired of winter, snow, cold, and everything else that goes with it.

I do plan on playing cards this evening.  I haven't played since before Christmas.  I have had a cough, but it is so much better, so I think I can play without any problems.

Jane, hope you don't have any problems getting to work this morning.  The store will probably be busy with the snow prediction.  You know,  everybody has to have enough toilet paper and milk.

I need to get myself moving.  I know I have mentioned before that I am just not a morning person.  Really takes me so long to get myself moving along.  Have lots that I can do, but oh, I could just go back to bed.  I am reading a good book on my Kindle, so will read for a little while and hope that the sandman will not appear.

Have a great day !!!

Hi Everyone.  It is another chilly but beautifully sunny day here in South Carolina and we will be getting into the mid-40's again this afternoon.  It seems to be the normal pattern here for a freeze at night but getting above freezing during the day.  The local weather said we have a chance to get a few snow flurries tomorrow morning during the drive time to work.

Pat is quite ill with bronchitis.  Last night she got so weak that she had to call me out of a sound sleep to help her get up out of her chair and get into the bedroom. She was so weak she was shaking.  She is stronger this morning but still has a terrible cough and feels bad.  I don't think this is the flu as she has no other symptoms. I have no plans for today other than to be available to help her as she may need.

Callie, I hope you really enjoy the TV Ears.  I hope you don't get too much snow.

Gloria, I try to leave a good distance between me and the driver in front so I have a little extra time to react if needed.  Glad you are able to see and speak with Regina every day and expect it also relieves her mind about how you are doing.  I think most papers now require a payment to publish an obit.

Bubble, I will have some of those pancakes but will need sugar free syrup as find when I used regular syrup I feel very groggy for awhile.

Jane, I had forgotten your writing about the Christmas cookies.  I hope you enjoy eating them and likely will as there is always so many desserts and other things to eat during the holidays. Glad your car now has a new battery.  I few days ago I bought a new battery for my son's car and it ended up costing $180 and he had a bit of a problem getting one that would work.  Wow, getting a new battery and a new microwave in one day and at no cost to you. Sometimes blessing come when lest expected.  It is hard to do without a microwave.  We use our daily.

June, we had so many lilacs in Missouri where I grew up but guess they don't do well here as don't remember seeing any of them.  I hope you feel up to doing your grocery order today.

Amy, that sounds like a gift that Pat would enjoy.  She has bought many of the precut squares from Missouri Quilt Company and loves their magazine as it contains no advertising and is beautifully and colorfully presented.  Do you get the magazine?  Thanks for the link to the Marks company.

Lloyd, I can remember having to chop a hole in the ice for the cattle to drink.  Like you I drink ice water year round.

Shirley, Happy Birthday.

Phyllis, I think we are to be on the very edge of the snow headed up your way from the West.

Hal, is this your first heart attack?  Sorry to hear that getting the fluid off didn't lessen the coughing.

Joy, we haven't played cards with friends since we moved here.  Pat does play Farkle with our granddaughter and son but I prefer to stay in my easy chair nearby.  I have started reading books on the Kindle app on my iPhone now that my eyes are fixed.

The sun is shining but my patio thermometer is sitting squarely on ZERO DEGREES!!!!  I don't think it was ever this cold in Leadville.  (That might have been because, at 10,200 feet above sea level, we were closer to the sun.)

Larry,  no snow in the forecast - just bitterly cold temperatures until the end of the week.  It's supposed to be 65º on Saturday.   :idiot2:

Sending gentle hugs to all who have health issues or are concerned about relatives with issues.
I apologize for not posting individual comments but please know you are all in my prayers and loving thoughts.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Edit:  Did anyone watch Good Morning America this morning and see fiddler/violinist Kyle Dillingham perform?
I just saw a video of his performance on Facebook - didn't see the actual program.
He is a "local boy" and recently gave an informal concert at my church.  He is an amazing classical violinist as well as a "down home" fiddler.  I cannot believe how fast his arm and fingers move; they're just a blur.

It's warmed "all the way up" to 10 º at noon - headed for a "balmy" 21.  Weather girl on noon news had on her gloves and big parka to introduce the weather portion.

wAL-MART was busy up the gazoo this morning.  I understand that the food stamps cards were refilled for our county and two of the surrounding counties today!  We're always swamped when that happens.  And I drew long counters for both halves of my shift.  I'M BEAT!  I sure hope there are a few zzzzs in the sofa waiting to be discovered!

The car started right up this morning and it's a good thing because I had a baseball bat handy and I was going to dim it's lights for sure if it didn't!

I had a homemade meatball sandwich on a roll for lunch.  If anyone is interested, I put a couple in the hidey hole.

Now I'm off to look for a dream...a nice gentle one with murmuring streams and murmuring breezes and lots of loving family gathered round!  I wish you all the same! :smitten:

Happy Birthday, Shirley, may you have many more.

I'm late getting to S&F today as I had a haircut appointment this morning, then we went out to breakfast, and came home after that.  At 12:30 we left for my 1 pm doctor's appointment for my lame shoulder.  The doctor gave me a cortisone shot.  My age prevents me from having surgery for which I am thankful.  We got home about 2 pm and Tom can do what he wants to do and has to do the rest of the day.  I'm not going anywhere.  Other than my shoulder, I am feeling fine.

I hope to hear some information from Hal as to his heart attack.  I feel it must  have been a shock to hear that from the doctor.  Get better quick, Hal.

I hope everyone else who is not feeling well will feel better soon.  The changeable weather is not good for anyone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU DEAR SHIRLEY ! REALLY ENJOY YOUR SPECIAL DAY !

I have enjoyed my day so far. Had a nice chat with one of my favorite nurses. She answered a bunch of questions for me. Then I stopped in to a program down stairs. One of our ladies has written a paperback book, and I want to buy one.She and her son both did Prison Ministries.

Larry I went through that terrible coughing your lady is doing now and it can be miserable....wears you out completely. My Dr. prescribed a new medicine and it healed me overnight. I will see if I can get a name for it.

I didn't sleep well last night, awake for two hours in the middle of the night.

I did get my grocery order sent in last evening so I will be getting a delivery between 2 and 3 this afternoon. I am paying full price for an hour period of delivery, but what the heck...I might as well spend a few extra dollars and relax. I'm worth it.

I'll be going back downstairs soon for lunch, then home to relax await my groceries.I'm sure a nap will occur also,to make up for last night. May all your prayers be answered and God's Peace cover you all. Hugs,June

Good evening everyone....

Just got back from having a colonoscopy ...
Never my favorite thing to have...

I am A OK .. have only a few polyps...  to be removed next year!
So I am very happy about that....

I sure am glad this is over with!

Happy Birthday Shirley!

I discovered a very important truism this afternoon.  In the winter, there are no zzzs lurking on the sofa!  They must get cold too because they are all in the nice, warm LL Bean throw hanging on the back of the sofa.  As soon as I put it over any part of my body, the zzzs are all over me and I can't resist them.  I'll have to try and remember that the next time.  I had a lovely nap!  I've had supper, the doggies have been fed and it's still snowing out there.  I hope they have it all cleaned up by a quarter of nine tomorrow morning.  That's when I have to leave for work.

Now I'm going to clean up the kitchen and veg out for the rest of the evening.  I hope you are all relaxing and enjoying your day....especially you, SHIRLEY!

Groceries are delivered and put away. Had about a half hour nap, so it will be an early to bed for me. My eyes want to close already and its not even five o'clock.

I'm hoping Hal will stop in before bedtime to let us know how his day went.

Janie, I'm so glad you are finding those zzzzz in several cozy places. You deserve all the extra rest you can get. I have to make one more trip downstairs as my mail box is on the first floor, and there should be mail after the long holiday weekend.

Hi folks.  Been a long day and not a lot to say about it.  They came in and took more X-rays of my chest, still coughing, and a swab of my nose.  Nurse said the hospital doctor ordered, wants to check for viruses.  Had my supper, meatloaf, such as it was.

Well we had another San Antonio winter storm.  Some rain, then sleet, then snow, then more sleet.  I can't vouch for that, according to family members.  But from the 10th floor I wouldn't swear to it.  And hooked up to a short oxygen hose I couldn't really get over to a window very easily.

Larry sorry about Pat.  She will get special mention in tonight's prayers.  I know she must be mieserable.

Sandy bet you are happy that is over with.  Don't understand why he didn't finish the job.

Talk to you later.

June Drabek

Hal, thanks for popping in. Sounds like you are getting good care at the hospital, and I pray your cure comes quickly. God is watching over you, so be patient and thankful.

It is 8:15 so came in to say "Good Night" and prays to all in need.

I will end, with a cute little poem I saw in Brookgreen Gardens, which is in SC. When we had the poetry corner I had put it in there:
I use to love my garden
But now my love is dead
                                I found a batchler Button
                                In black eyed Susan bed
                                               Good nigh!

Amy; Jane; Phyllis; Lloyd; Hal; Gloria; Joy; Jenny; Larry; Callie; Mary Ann; June; Sandy; and a last reminder from Janie.... thank you all so very much for the birthday wishes.  It was a happy day, for sure.  My daughter arrived safe & sound, both sons & their "mates" came to celebrate this evening & had lots of phone calls from friends & family.  Busy day but lots of love in the air, doesn't get any better than this.

All the talk was about everyone being sick or just getting over something, same as in here..... one friend said her doctor warned her to "wear a mask any time she goes to the store or where she will be in contact with kids or other people".   Seems the health people are more concerned this year than for a long time.

Prayers for Every friend, that each of you get well and feel better as we start looking forward to spring.  Yes!  Spring is just around the corner.  Hugs to all, sweet dreams & God Bless.  Shirley

Glad you enjoyed YOUR day, SHIRLEY.  Best wishes for many more healthy and happy years.

HAL, thoughts and prayers for you.  I hope the tests prove nothing is a threat and you can go home tomorrow.

LARRY, with all the concerns of issues with the flu, I do hope Pat will be sure to seek out help if she is not a lot better tomorrow.

We were up very early this morning, so I must say goodnight and pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning Everyfriend!  The snow has stopped and it's a balmy 18º but it's not supposed to get above freezing for a couple of days so I think we're stuck with the snow for a while.  I have to go to work at 9:30 so they should have the roads and the WM parking lot cleared by that time.

I'm currently waiting for the coffee pot to finish and then I'll have a cup in peace until the doggies decide it's time to eat,  And then the day begins!  I'm afraid we'll be as busy today as we were yesterday with people who have dug out and decided to shop.  But I'll be ready for them.  If it were me and I didn't HAVE to go, I wouldn't.  I didn't back when the kids were growing up.  We made do!  And we dragged the sleds out and got wet, tired, hungry and happy.  They still remember!

I think the coffee is ready if anyone wants to join me.  I have some special cookies left that came from out of the country if anyone wants to dunk!  Have a wonderful day.....especially you Hal.  I hope you go home.  And I hope Pat's feeling better!

Good morning everyone. Just a little past six, they got me up for some mess.  Still hacking away. I hope they figure it out soon, but the way I feel right now I hope they don't send me home like this.  Wife certainly can't care for me.  Maybe some results from swab the took yesterday.

Larry you ask if this was my first encounter with heart trouble.  No I also have Afib.

Suppose to be very old out, but warmup will begin today and be Bancorp k to normal in a few days.

I want to thank all of you for your warm thoughts.  It is nice, no great, to know I have friends all over concerned over me.

I can understand why people in hospital don't post.  About what?  Nurses bringing pills, young aides collecting blood or techs giving you breathing treatments or the young folks collecting vitals.  They must get so tired of looking at us old rascals who look like we have been drug through a hole backwards and ask endless personal questions, which are none of my business.  But all of them smile and answer sweetly.  Some of them no older than my Grhanddaughters and just beginning their lives with new husbands.

If any of you want to Skype I will welcome the calls, if you can stand to look at me. Or I can FaceTime I am using my iPad

Talk to you later.

Hi Everyone. It is going to be a rainy and chilly day with the temperatures going down during the day and staying in the mid-30's.  They say we are going to have some light snow later this morning but it should melt as it hits the ground and pavement.

I have a very sick wife as she definitely has the flu to go with the bronchitis.  I was able to get her to eat a little applesauce and a piece of toast this morning.  I just fixed a bowl of Jello (the first I have ever mixed up I think).  The only thing besides taking care of her is to finish up the grocery order so I can pick it up tomorrow and to take care of Pat.  This evening I will meet the rest of the family for Wednesday night dinner at the Church.  They will not be coming out this evening.  Jennifer has a friend from Kentucky visiting with her for a few days and she will be my guest at dinner this evening.  I am hopeful I can avoid catching the flu from her.  One advantage of us both using the CPAP machines is that we don't breath on each other during the night.

Bulletin:  It is now 9 am and it is snowing in North Augusta, South Carolina and I just saw a weather report that we could get up to an inch.  So far it is coming down very lightly.

Callie, it is cold down your way.

Jane, cashiers have a lot of repetitive motions in handling and sacking the items.  Glad you didn't need your baseball bat.  :) Last night on the news they were talking about the bad weather conditions with cold, ice and snow and then showed the kids having a great time on their sleds.

June, that sounds like it could be a a very interesting book.  It takes a special type person to do prison minitries.  Glad you decided to have convenience with your grocery order.  It is your money and why shouldn't you spend it.  However, I know it is hard for some of us to break lifelong habits of trying to save a few dollars when we can.

Hal, I saw some pictures on the news last night of the roads and the snow in San Antonio.  It sounds like they are taking good care of you.  It sounds like you may need a few days in rehab before you go home.  Most people don't mind talking a bit about themselves and their family.  I will always talk to those who help in the hospital to learn about them as a person and try to let them know that I appreciate there help.

Shirley, it sounds like you had a most enjoyable birthday celebration and were surrounded by a loving family.

Lloyd, sounds like today would be a good one to stay in by the fire.  I don't have a problem with a dry mouth as sleep with my mouth closed.  However, Pat has that same problem.
