Sipping coffee - we sat up around 4:30 AM for at least an hour - Don did not feel well and thought he might have taken one extra bedtime pill.  So, we waited - then, I did go back to sleep and made it until after 7 AM.

I am getting ready for a free house-cleaning tomorrow.  Our oldest son knows a friend who is starting a business and they tested the crew on my house a few months ago.  Our son uses our place when he has appointments in Denver and he wanted to do them a favor as well as treat me.   :smitten:

Amy:  We drive at least a long in time to the VA but the streets are totally clogged now with newcomers.  Insane drive.  Fires are the tragic word here in Colorado this year.  A couple was arrested & sentenced for shooting and starting a fire that wiped out many houses.  I can't keep up with the destruction.  One son has a cabin/house near Rocky Mountain National Park - (look it up) near Grand Lake.  There was a fire that came close but thankful to the fighters they stopped it.  Terribly sad this year.  Sorry that you don't have time for shopping.  Do you do any online shopping?

Lloyd:  Your workmanship is just beautiful.  That is a treasure for years to come!  Don makes small things like pens.

Larry:  We like a quiet church service on Saturday nights - then, we drive close to a Chick-Fil-A and they have small portions and great chicken.

Oh my are we getting a storm and rain too!! Rain so fast and furious the ground can't soak up! I wish I could share this with all of you that need the rain. What a blessing this is!!  Gave Babe a 1/2 pill to help calm her down ,storm doesn't bother Golden girl but both are on the beds now. :)

Dr. visit went well....long but seems the med he wanted to put hubby on conflicted with what he is taking so got that all straightened out.

Carol ,glad to read the fire missed your son's home.  We are under a fire ban but as you know some people don't think that applies to them. It really galls me to be behind a vehicle and they throw a cigarette butt out that is still smoldering!!I have shopped Connecting Threads and just love it there...they have a wonderful sale on now too.

Gloria, I just went out to the mail box and the smell of the rain is lovely.still lightly raining  and I hope it keeps up all night.

Gloria de.,hope you have no more problems with that hematoma!!   Thank you for the laugh about the lady and the priest!

Jane, how did your lunch go? Hope it is cloudy for you to drive in later from work.

Larry, we will be having a repeat of last night supper tonight too!! :)

Amy, we have rain and storms all around us, but not a drop here.  The sun is shining and it is about 90 F degrees.  To cop it off, a part on the outside faucet is broken and we can't use the hose.  We do have a sprinkling system that runs every other night but one section has no sprinkler and it is getting brown there.  With the heat, the little sprinkling that happens doesn't do that much good.  I live in a condo so I hope the man I contacted can fix my faucet.  It is too hot to sit outside and even the cat did not want to go out while I went for the mail.  Smart cat!

Lloyd, I liked the chair you made for your great-grands; it is a work of art.

Even on a work day, Grand Haven is busy.

Mary Ann

Amy

Mary Ann, we had lots of rain, almost filled my rain barrel. High winds uprooted a neighbours tree putting it over the fence into our next door neighbour and up the road from the neighbour another tree was downed ,this time a pine tree. Thankfully we didn't lose our power.

Amy, I just looked at radar and what rain was in our area has left and seems to be over your area.

That is too bad about your neighbors losing trees - it takes a long time to grow a tree.

Good evening, trying tp set with my leg up. The doctor said try to set with it up above your hear, not easy. Here at the computer I have it on a stool.

Larry you reminded me to go get some icecream, I put it in my root beer and made a float thanks :)

Lloyd, loved your chair. I make Teddy bears, when my grand daughter was about 3 I made her a Teddy and set it in a small wooden chair, she looked at it put  the bear  on the floor and set in the the little chair wanted the chair instead. so I know your grands love the chairs

Carol, that is great you have someone to house clean

Gloria I met to tell you I have read all of Zane Greys book.  During the war a book came out once a month called: Western Romance, I Always bought it the first day , it was the size of a large paperback

Amy, we have water ban, started this week, we are suppose to water every other day, and not between 10 and 4. But I do see people water all day.

Mary Ann, they will say it is pouring inthe city. but does not comes out this far east. I can look across the Sound, and see rain clouds in Conn. We do need rain.

Gloria D, my radar shows no rain on Long Island.  Nor any in my area.  I think Amy is getting most of it in the NE, however, the Weather Channel says rain is to go up the East coast so maybe you'll get some yet.

Finally figured out where to post.  I do not know what my problem was....but here I am.

Everything continues to go well here with my dad, so we will be heading home tomorrow.  I would like to stay longer just to be with him, but now he just has to do what his physical therapist want him to do.  The biggest problem is to keep him from trying to do more than he is ready to do.

There has been a lot of rain and flooding in many areas we have to drive through, but we are hopeful it will not be that way tomorrow.

GLORIA de, I am sorry to read about the problems you are having with the hematoma on you leg.  I sure wish they could have helped you with it rather than you going home and having to deal with it bleeding.  Doctors sure do not make it easy on the patients.  Take care of it and YOU!

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone...

No major storm overnight but power must have went off as the clocks are flashing. Taking hubby for blood work today then home to tidy up and chase dust bunnies.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day..

Good morning everyone, going to be hot again today, already 75°. We always said the dog days of August for the hottest month but July has been pretty hot and too humid.

LLOYD  did you have a pattern for the chair you  made or did you just think about it and make it? Bet you could make money selling them.

CAROL  wow a free house cleaning. After 4 years here and not being able to clean like I used to, I could sure use a good cleaning here. Doesn't look dirty but I used to wash walls and windows and everything every spring. Windows more often than that. My Mom washed windows and put up clean curtains every month. Guess I take after her in some ways.

AMY  we have thunderstorms in the forecast for late afternoon, during the traffic rush home at the end of the work day. Glad I will not be on the road, bad enough driving when it is pouring. Would rather have a light steady rain for a day or more than a downpouring rain that just runs off and doesn't sink into the dry earth.

GLORIA de  I read most of Zane Gray books, love the way he described the locations he was writing about. I always pictured the area that he was writing about. My daughter has a big collection of his books.

JENNY  have a safe trip home with no storms along the way. I know you would like to stay with your Dad longer.

AMY  I imagine the dust bunnies are multipling under the couch and under the bed. Half the time they do not sweep the floor in the bedroom unless I remind them. They are no allowed to move furniture, not even a chair.

Have a good day and stay cool.

good Morning everyone, AMY must be doctors day most everywhere Nancy has a appointment this morning. Our car is out of service installing a new radiator.
so our dear friend loaned us one of his. it is a major chore to change it. have to disassembly most of the front end of car to get it out. almost would be cheaper to buy a good used car ready to go, if you were paying a dealership to change it out. I worked all day yesterday and do not have the old one out yet.must be one more bolt down in the lower corner i can;t see yet. can pick up on one side but not the other. Have a good day everyone.

Hi Everyone.  It is another overcast day and a good possibility of more rain.  We had at least 1 1/2 inches of rain yesterday afternoon and during the night.  We are to get to about 90 degrees this afternoon.

I don't have much on the calendar for today.  The kitchen chores are done and at 10 am my friend will be here for an hour.  Today is the 60th anniversary of IHOP opening and they are offering sixty cent pancakes.  Pat mentioned we might take that in but we will just have to wait and see how she is feeling.  That will likely be it for today.  For some reason I didn't feel very peppy yesterday but hope for a better day today.

Gloria, we had a couple of the squash sauteed with spices last evening for dinner.  They are small and they were very tasty.  Pat fixed them in the Instant Pot after cooking the chicken strips and then some macaroni with the remainder of the cheese dip she had made a few days ago.  Now we have three containers left over of the macaroni and cheese in the freezer for subsequent meals.

Carol, sure hope Don is feeling better today.  It is easy to forget medicine.  I use the little daily pill boxes but even then on occasion forget to take the pills and have taken the night time pills in the morning.  Fortunately a couple of the most important I take both morning and evening so it really isn't much of a problem.  Now I have added two more pills in the morning and have had to store part of them in the noon little box.  It is quite a handful in the mornings.  You can't beat free housecleaning and hope you will be satisfied with the results.  Maybe you could become a customer of the service if you like it.  I doubt that you would regret doing so.  The fires in your state and other states are certainly worrisome and do so much damage.  I can't image what it must be like to be one of the firefighters. We eat at Chick-Fil-A fairly often and always enjoy it.  The staff is always cheerful and helpful.  They have a big business here in North Augusta and take drive through orders as you get into the drive thru lane and then have a special station to collect the money so that when you get to the window you just pick up your food.  It is a pretty smooth operation.  They even put out a cooling fan to keep their outside employees reasonably cool in the hot weather.

Cottoncandy, I like your screen name.  I hope you will come back and let us get to know you.  There is always plenty of room here in the Soda Shoppe.

Amy, some of our rains didn't last two long yesterday but came down fairly heavy and then rained off and on throughout the afternoon and evening.  Glad the doctor got your husbands meds straightened out.  My wife gets the Connecting Threads catalogs and has made several purchases from them.

Mary Ann, hope you can get the outside faucet fixed.  To bad it is too hot now to enjoy your new patio furniture.

deAngel, it is a bit difficult to sit with you legs up above your heart.  It has been years since I had my last ice cream float.  I wonder if Western theme TV shows and books will make a comeback?  A couple of weeks ago I read an ebook Western and it was quite good.

June, glad you checked in and hope you feel better today.

Jenny, glad to see your dad is doing well enough that you can head back home today.  Your dad will have to determine his limit for himself.

Gloria, I can't image washing curtains every month.  Of course, windows used to have to be open since we didn't have A/C.  My mother did a complete Spring and Fall housecleaning.  Pat eliminated the curtain problem here as we just don't have any curtains although I know our housekeeper would take them down and rehang them.  It took a little getting used to but it is fine since we have nice looking blinds.  I find one of the joys of reading is being able to pictures things in my mind.

Lloyd,   installing the new radiator sounds like a miserable job for you?  Hope Nancy's doctor appointment goes well for her today.

Jane, sorry to read you had such a tiring day and have stated this day the same.

Good Morning,

Had to be up and at 'em earlier than normal today because of the annual Wellness Check.   Diagnosis:  "Whatever you're doing....keep doing it".
Did discover that my home blood pressure monitor is registering 40+ points higher than it should be.  I'm actually right on normal (with meds, of course).  Doctor suggested getting a larger size cuff.  I'll discuss that with the pharmacist next time I'm there.

Had to run the windshield wipers for about 3 blocks past the doctor's office (roughly 2 miles from my house) coming home and then not even a sprinkle.
The weather gurus have been talking about "downbursts" - very heavy downpours that start suddenly and last just a few minutes.
Driveway looked as if my house had one during the hour I was gone this morning.  Maybe the situation coming home was the "tail end" of it.

I've "broken my fast"  - now need to find something useful to do....or not.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Another day is drawing to a close, and I am ready for an early bed, but not yet...still have to eat some supper and do the usual before bed routine. Just as the rest of you probably do too.

I invited my Dori and two other gals to have lunch with me. We ate out on the big patio, and really enjoyed the mild weather, scrumptious food and loving friendship. Had about an hours bed rest, then off to sing with the Red Hatters group at the health center. We have one more series to sing at the club house on Friday, and then we will take a rest.

I am really ready for a quiet evening and an early to bed.Just listened to one of my favorite songs, Englebert Humperdick singing "The Last Waltz should last Forever". Brings back a heartfelt memory.

Jenny, I know how difficult it is to leave your father while he is still in the recovering mode, but you can just do so much, and then go back to normal living. You owe that to your hubby, and to yourself too.

Well...I must go eat and fold up my day too. I love being with you all, my cyber family. Hugs, Love and Prayers. June

Good morning everyone, 68°, quite a bit cooler than yesterday. For a change the weather  guessers were right about a storm. No hail here and even tornado warning up for awhile. The rain looked like it was coming down is sheets and not drops. Lot of loud booms but not much lightning. Lasted about 2 hours.

LLOYD  good luck with that radiator.

JANE  hope you slept better last night. If I am over tired I have trouble sleeping.

LARRY  I only went to an IHOP a few times. There is not one close to here.  My son grought me a few books by Louie L'Amour of the Sackett series. Some of those have been made into movies with Tom Sellick.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Today has to be better than yesterday.

GLORIA, I did sleep better last night and I took a nice nap in the afternoon.

I'll be off to work this morning at 10.  We had rain yesterday most of the day.  It was a nice, soft, soaking rain that we needed desperately.  Today everything looks green and smells good again.  The temps got down into the mid 50s overnight and they are only expecting a high of 82 today.  Not bad....finally.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!

Hi Everyone.  This day is starting out sunny and will get to about 90 degrees this afternoon with only a small chance of rain.  Our main activity for today will be going to dinner tonight at the Church.  Scott is not going to be joining us as he has to work again as they have a couple of employees on vacation.  Yesterday for lunch we did go to IHOP for the pancakes and added some sausage to go with them.  They were good and certainly filling.

Callie, those are the kind of health reports we would all like to hear.

June, so nice you could have your lunch with Dori and the other two gals and out in the open even.  We have restaurants with outside tables but don't very often see anyone use them as it is too hot down here.

Gloria, I saw some of the flooding pictures on the news last night.  That was a long storm.  I didn't know that Tom Sellick had made any of the Louie L'Amour movies.  He is a good actor and we have enjoyed the various parts he has played including the Blue Bloods series.

Jane, nice to see you got a better nights sleep as that sure makes a difference.  I hope you work today won't be too hard.

Lloyd, it sounds like Bob is a friend one wants to keep.  Glad he helped you with the radiator.  Baby calves are so cute and I remember the ones we had at the farm.

Amy, the sleeping in must have been contagious as I also slept in until 7:45 this morning and that is very unusual.

Denver

Good morning HELLO from Colorado.

It is wonderful to be here and we have sure enjoyed a beautiful morning with all the doors and windows open to let in the nice fresh air. I miss not having fresh air in Arizona.  Living under a/c is not good, but in that terrible heat it is a MUST.

Our drive went very well yesterday.....just very LONG! The scenery on the drive is amazing every time you see it, and we ALWAYS enjoy it.  We did get in a couple of pretty good down pours, but for the most part missed the worst of them.  The clouds we spectacular looking, but some so black they were frightening.  The Southwest is being blessed with the much needed moisture and we saw how much the desert had greened up in just the week.  Gloria, if your ears were burning, understand that we mentioned your name several times as we ooh’d and awed over our views.

We had a few road construction issues, but they really did not slow us down that much.  We arrived in the driveway at 10:15 and we were both BEAT but happy to be home.  We would have stopped if we did not feel we could go on any longer.  We did stop every couple of hours to stretch our legs......and of course gas and a quick bite to eat.

A lot has been going on with Mark regarding his job, and the short story is that he is now head golf pro and GM at his current club and he and Megan are happy that no moves are going to be involved and they can start getting the nursery set up for their new bundle of joy.

I called my dad several times yesterday to let him know how we were progressing.  He is doing so well that I do not think he is going to have more than a couple of weeks total of home PT total. He sounded great this morning and was waiting for a home health nurse to arrive.  They are all just in total amazement of how strong and capable he is at 94 years of age.  We really are very lucky in that regard.

I wish you all a great Wednesday.
