Few words 'cause I've got to get movin' .... Larry, I saw that a long time ago & sent to my kids but I watched the whole thing again, so moving and SO wise!  Thanks!

Jane, since I've been having some tipsy moments lately & been blaming on muscles not getting enough exercise.... but have had bad problems with ears/sinus/awful allergy issues..... I really would love to hear more about what was done/recommended.  You have such interesting doctors & not just pill pushers.

Amy, "We are all tourists and God is our Travel Agent.  He figures all our  Routes, Reservations and Destinations.  So trust HIM, and  enjoy the  Trip called Life".......love this & saved to pass on.

Got to run, one of the coolest days in a long time & a list of "to dos" you wouldn't believe.... and I just want to sleep!

MaryTX

Shirley, do a Google search on "The Epley Maneuver".

Several years ago I had the same "rocks in the head" that Jane and Callie mentioned.  My ENT sent me to a similar place like Jane went to this morning and after balance tests etc, they performed what they call "the Epley Maneuver" and it worked immediately.  I have done it at home a couple of times since and it really aligns those crystals in the inner ear immediately.

Shirley

Thank you, Mary..... Googled & copied what John Hopkins said (to do at home).... sounds reasonable to me. I've never even mentioned the problem to my doctor, guess I'm afraid he'll think I'm getting old.  :crazy2:  I will give it a try, for sure.  My ears are sure plugged up this whole summer.

I also Googled & checked out every link about my sweatshirt issue & ran across (top of the list) a video of one problem that is UNFIXABLE ... yep, if that "pin" falls off there is no replacement part or fix.   :tissue:   BUT, I plan to give it a try, impossible is not in my vocabulary.  Sometimes I don't succeed but only because I didn't come up with the right idea.  I really don't want to give this sweatshirt up & can wear it unzipped, nobody would guess why.  Any of you that use a sewing machine, how about this idea:  take a wire about the thickness of that pin, use a buttonhole stitch to hold it onto the fabric.... so not a perfect fix but could use it to zip now & then.  Maybe use that plastic thread that looks like fishing line?  You think?

Got my watermelon cut up & in "recycled" containers (the ones from McDonald's big salads).... I had the choice of buying a container cut up or buy the whole watermelon for same price... and have 4 containers, some to give away with only a little labor for cost.  Need to run errands but middle of T-storm & news media advising to wait..... had to turn on light to see this keyboard & radar showing no let up for about an hour.  Guess I can wait.  Tom & Tiger came running in before the first rain drop.... Tom follows me anywhere I go but Tiger is not really afraid.

Thanks again, Mary! Sorry you had to be the guinea pig, Janie, we do learn a lot in here..... ain't nuthin too sacred we can't talk about, huh?

Shirley, I know you don't like to give up on something like the zipper "stop", but have you considered taking it to a tailor for replacing the zipper.  A tailor would have all sizes and, yes, you'd have to pay to have it done, but I don't think it would be as expensive as you think.  Or have you already checked?

If you have not checked, call a nearby tailor to ask about the cost.  The call would be free!

Mary Ann

Shirley

Mary Ann, the sweatshirt really isn't worth the price of a new zipper..... I actually could replace that zipper myself but not even worth it.  I like "hoodies" to sleep in out camping & have plenty already.  I didn't need this one when I bought it & another that only zips part way down (can't pass up a bargain).  Both have the pockets I like to hold my Kleenex, plus hoods....  I did try my idea of sewing that little piece of wire in but thread made it too thick to fit into the slider.. so managed to get both sides together & zipper up a couple inches & I just sewed that zipper together over the lock at the bottom & tried pulling it over my head like the other one I bought that same day.  No problem at all.

Sure seems crazy that the little part on the opposite side of the slider is the ONLY piece that can't be replaced. I know one thing, I will not zip up sweatshirts & even jeans anymore, before throwing into the washer.  Guess that's why some of the jackets have the 2nd zipper to open from the bottom when you sit down. I used to always put a safety pin at the top & bottom of sweatshirts before washing but forgot this time, bad me.

I didn't call a tailor because a long time ago I called about a coat zipper & the price was outrageous.  Any labor around here is over the top, not sure why. I used to make my clothes, even coats, & when Cas bought new trousers or suits he'd let them alter or hem & bring them home for me to "re-do". I still like a challenge now & then, but have discovered that I don't always know the easiest or best way so yell for help first! I like your after thought, "the call would be free"...  ;D

Do you happen to remember a comic strip called "Mopsy"?  My 3rd grade teacher called me Mopsy because I was always looking for a way to fix something..... for instance, Mopsy painted a vine with flowers across a wall because it had a crack in the wall & that disguised it.... made sense to me, I would have done the same thing. Sweatshirt fixed now, zips down to the last inch & that's okay.

Amy

Shirley, what part of the zipper is it you are missing?

https://successfulfashiondesigner.com/anatomy-of-a-zipper/

I doubt a tailor would be very expensive for such a small job. Or if you have a fabric store maybe one of the ladies there would do it for you.

The next door neighbour  came to the door and I was downstairs sewing. When I said where I was he said ..oh do you sew??? He had two pairs of work wear to shorten so I did that for him. Good neighbour and I know if I need help he would be over in a moment

Here's what I found that convinced me ....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd2d0pbeMGg   I really do get these clothes so "cheap" even the price of a zipper with me doing the job, would be more than I paid for it.  Wasn't defective, unzipped & zipped fine when I bought... this particular part has come off other items & I wanted to find a fix.... guess there really isn't one.  Thanks for the help & interest. Hasn't anyone else had this happen to a zipper???

Amy, I drove my sewing teacher crazy in high school... she couldn't believe it possible to use pieces of different patterns & come up with something that actually fit & "different".  Only took sewing one year, didn't think the poor lady could take another year of ME!  In high school I made or remodeled all my formals, so when we were invited to special parties years later I created the cocktail dresses, either from scratch or remodeling a ready-made dress so nobody else would come in with the same dress on.  I made a new cover for the grass catcher of my husband's Allis Chalmer riding mower.... now that was a challenge!  Between painting to get ready for art shows & keeping up with sewing for myself & daughter... and altering slacks for my husband, never a moment not busy. Meals had to be on time & plenty of food to keep a hungry bunch filled up, a good life.

Can't keep my eyes open so better go walk to the river & feed fish before it's too late.... I will doze off in this chair.  :-\

I came to the computer to print off the Epley Maneuver from John Hopkins... and found the computer had updated & needed to be signed in again.  I copied again & will give it a try, sounds like a good remedy.

Amy

Good morning everyone..

A beautiful day here, we may get rain later on though. Taking hubby for a drive thought we would go to a place that really is hard not to spend money, chocolate factory, cheese factory, awesome bakery and quilt store. As you can see I am doomed :( We are taking the dogs with us ,as they like to go also..plus I don't have to worry about them.

Shirley, I think you enjoyed making your own path/road and not following a ready made one. Good for you!

June, did I miss your post?? I know your not liking the lap top but poke in and say hello. :)

Better go get ready for the day.
Enjoy your day everyone..

Weird!  I just realized that this thing didn't bring me to the Soda Shoppe for a while.  I went back to a deleted one and here I am after reading a bunch of stuff I missed.

SHIRLEY, The Maneuver that you were directed to was exactly what they did for me.  But you do have to determine which side is causing the vertigo.  I thought it was my left ear but it was actually my right ear.  I think, if you try it and it doesn't work, you could just try the other side but be very careful if you're dizzy.  Don't make any sudden moves.

I'm so glad you were able to fix your sweat shirt.  You really are persistent.

I'm also missing JUNE.  I hope it's just the computer that's keeping her away.  If it is, JUNE, come by and say HI!

I'm going to lunch and a movie with my neighbor/friend today.  It's senior citizen day at the movies and we do this sometimes.

I wish you all a lovely day!  Make of it whatever you wish!

Hi Everyone.  Tuesday starts out overcast once again with a high percentage likelihood of rain this afternoon. It is suppose to stay in the mid-80's today.  I have something I need to do at 10 am for an hour this morning and then, if Pat feels up to it we will probably go to Cheddars again for our main meal of the day.  Nothing of note happened yesterday and the day of rest was appreciated.

I want to share a little of a posting that Judy, Pat Scott Halbach's sister posted yesterday.  "Had an accidental call from Pat last night.  She was going outside to pick some blackberries and encountered a skunk.  She backed up quickly and fell.  In doing so she avoided being sprayed.....and broke her wrist!  She has been through so much that this almost feels like the last straw.  Again Please pray for Pat."

Jane, glad your Balance Center appointment was such a success.  Hope the senior citizen day at the movies is an enjoyable one for you and your friend today.

Amy, I was happy to see your postings yesterday and to know you were able to get back to this discussion.  It appears things are in good shape again thanks to the efforts of Michael.  God is our Travel Agent. I had never heard it expressed like that little piece you shared. You really know how to tempt yourselves when you visit all of those tempting stores in one day.

Shirley,  I hope you can get your tipsy moments resolved.  I usually only have a moments of dizziness if I have been bent over and stand up too quickly.  Pat does sometimes experience it for longer period.  I hope you didn't overdo on your "to do" list yesterday. I have never owned a sweatshirt with a hood.  I do prefer the type that zip up all the way or button up. It sounds like your cats sensed the approaching rain.

Mary, I have noted "The Epley Maneuver" and will read about it later today.  It was a shock when I found out I had rocks in my head.

Good morning  on this cloudy, gray day. The weather forecasters are calling for more rain and scattered thunderstorms for the rest of the week . But, the outlook for the week end looks pretty good, right now.  But we all know how quickly that can change.

Good morning,  Larry, and all the morning friends.

I am feeling better, but still dealing with some effects of the (seemingly) continuing UTI.  Will  get another round of antibiotics .   Getting tired of all this.  But, it will pass.

I have a friend who also was treated with that Epley Maneuver and she never had any more problems

So sorry to hear about Pat Scott's fall.  She sure has been through  enough health issues lately.   Sending lots of good healing thoughts to her.

I have not been sleeping very well, so I have planned to catch a short nap before I get started on "something".

Have a great day.

Joy

LARRY (and anyone else who's interested) don't worry too much about the "rocks in your head". Janine showed me an actual photo of what they look like and then explained that they are no bigger than a dust mote.  What happens with the vertigo is that one might break loose from it's little bundle and travel somewhere that it shouldn't.  That's what causes the vertigo and the maneuver is what helps to return it to it's proper place in your ear.

Because I sleep mostly on my right side, that seems to be the side that is affected.  I love it when they give us "fixes" that we can do ourselves without medication!  Funny how we mention something here and almost everyone has had it or knows someone who did!

My prayers for Pat's recovery.  She sure does have her trials!

I'm ready and waiting for my friend to pick me up.  We're going to have lunch on the way to the movie.

Enjoy your day my friends!

Guess I won't cry!  Somebody fixed us!  Thank you~~~I had a long post sitting  on a Word Pad all day & now I'm not going to post it. Tomorrow is a new day.  Thank Goodness!

So sorry about Pat's fall, can happen so fast.  Prayers and good thoughts for you, Pat..... and thank your sister for letting Larry know so he could tell us & we can add prayers, you know what power we have when we pull together!.

Sweet dreams to all, with less than 3 hours sleep last night & no naps today ... darn phone with "political" calls woke me every time I closed my eyes... I am not opening my door or even looking out to see if Tom & Tiger are begging to come in.  They are getting so spoiled we are going to come to an understanding just who is boss!
