The teenager lost a contact lens while playing basketball in his driveway. After a brief, fruitless search, he gave up. His mother took up the cause and within minutes found the lens.

"How did you do that?" he asked.

"We weren’t looking for the same thing," she explained. "You were looking for a small piece of plastic. I was looking for $150."

Good evening.....

Thank you, BUBBLE, for our nice new Soda Shoppe.  Nice graphics and cute stories....especially the mom looking for $150.

CAROL, nice to read you have found a replacement doctor.  I am anxious to hear who you decided on.  That doctor will have some huge shoes to fill after Doctor Elizabeth. Good luck.

We decided to take the day off and head up the mountain.  It is so green and beautiful right now.  The BUFFALO were grazing away at their spot on the way.  The casinos are still there, even though it has been awhile since I have supported them.  I did plenty today to make up for lost time.  We really did enjoy the drive both ways.

Sadly the wild life officials that decided to move in and help out the cow elk have not been able to find her.  She appeared on one of the cameras that spotted her one of our foothill mountains a couple of days ago.  She appeared to be having problems delivering her baby and many people wanted them to go see if they could help her.  At first they said they would not intervine, but apparently they decided she was in trouble and agreed to go see what they might do.  I would like to think she delivered the baby and has moved on, but more than likely she crawled under a bush or tree and has probably passed on.
Some of you may have heard about this as they said it got world wide attention on FaceBook.

I hope you all have a good night of rest.  Tomorrow is June the FIRST!  Where did May go?

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I too was up early this morning but I decided to wait out the doggies pill time on the sofa so got an extra hour in.  We also had rain during the night but it seems to be over now.

Not shopping for a new microwave, AMY.  Just waiting until my son has time to deal with it.  He sells them and he gave me this one for Christmas.  However, everyone and his brother wants an air conditioner TODAY and that's also his business.  I guess I can hang in there while he cools the town and countryside.

My car is still in the shop and I'm supposed to call them at 9 this morning to see what progress they've made.  If it's not ready, they'll drop me at work at 10 and give themselves the rest of the day to finish.  I hope that means they'll also pick me up at 2.  When I'm ready to go home, I'M READY TO GO HOME!

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Good morning everyone. didn't make it in yesterday, back acted up and could hardly move so sitting here was out. Laid on the couch most of the day. Now to catch up reading here.

CAROL  I always liked thr rust color. I like teal color

SHIRLEY  I would not know the router from anything else for a computer. My grandson is too busy right now to ask him. He just bought a new house and selling the one he has now. It was big enough whth just 2 of them but as their son gets bigger they need more room.

JUNE  it bothers me when I can do nothing. I sit and feel guilty when my CNAs do work for me. I feel guilty asking them to do things that I feel are my job. The 2 I have all the time are wonderful.

BUBBLE  thank you for the new book to write in for June. Love the graphic you posted.

JENNY  sad reading about the elk. Hope she and the calf made it.

JANE  you make me glad I do not have to worry about the upkeep for a car anymore.

Have a good day.

Saved the whole of this post from JOAN.

Try This

When you have an "I Hate My Job" day, try this.  On your way home from work, stop at your pharmacy and go to the thermometer section and purchase a rectal thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson.  Be very sure you get this brand.

When you get home, lock your doors, draw the curtains and disconnect the phone so you will not be disturbed.  Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favorite chair, open the package and remove the thermometer.  Now, carefully place it on a table or a surface so that it will not become chipped or broken.

Now the fun part begins.

Take out the literature and read it carefully.  You will notice that in small print there is a statement, "Every Rectal Thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson is personally tested" .

Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud five times, "I am so glad I do not work in the Thermometer quality control at Johnson & Johnson."

Teacher
Author Unknown

Many years ago I had a teacher whose husband unexpectedly died suddenly of a heart attack.  About a week after his death, she shared some of her insight with a classroom of students.

As the late afternoon sunlight came streaming in through the classroom windows and the class was nearly over, she moved a few things aside on the edge of her desk and sat down there. With a gentle look of reflection on her face, she paused and said, "Before class is over, I would like to share with all of you a thought that is unrelated to class, but which I feel is very important.

Each of us is put here on earth to learn, share, love, appreciate and give of ourselves.  None of us knows when this fantastic experience will end. It can be taken away at any moment.  Perhaps this is God's way of telling us that we must make the most out of every single day."

Her eyes beginning to water, she went on, "So I would like you all to make me a promise.  From now on, on your way to school, or on your way home, find something beautiful to notice.  It doesn't have to be something you see - it could be a scent, perhaps of freshly baked bread wafting out of someone's house, or it could be the sound of the breeze slightly rustling the leaves in the trees, or the way the morning light catches one autumn leaf as it falls gently to the ground.

Please look for these things, and cherish them.  For, although it may sound trite to some, these things are the stuff" of life.  The little things we are put here on earth to enjoy.  The things we often take for granted.  We must make it important to notice them, for at any time...  it can all be taken away."

The class was completely quiet.  We all picked up our books and filed out of the room silently.  That afternoon, I noticed more things on my way home from school than I had that whole semester. Every once in a while, I think of that teacher and remember what an impression she made on all of us, and I try to appreciate all of those things that sometimes we all overlook.

Take notice of something special you see on your lunch hour today.  Go barefoot.  Or walk on the beach at sunset.  Stop off on the way home tonight to get a double-dip ice cream cone.  For as we get older, it is not the things we did that we often regret, but the things we didn't do.

Thought of the Day

This is to be one hot day with "feels like" about 110 degrees, not my favorite weather. I have errands to run so will be out early.

So sad about the elk, Jenny, sometimes "Nature" is so cruel and animals suffer.   :tissue:

Carol, Jenny, one of these days I'm going to make a trip to CO when we can meet & just talk our heads off... you, Jenny & me.... do your husbands know each other well enough to enjoy visiting?  My sons are always on such short time they want to cram every bit of the hiking & fishing (and eating) into 24 hours of "mountains", I feel guilty asking them to leave even for a few hours so I can visit.  I am not sure how this trip will go.  We have reservations at Mt.Princeton, Andy is already at the BLM campground near Poncha Springs, he thought he would be totally alone & discovered it totally packed (mid-week) & had to settle with open space until reservations for Sunday night.  His son is driving out today & we will all meet Sat night in Salida & head UP after going to church & breakfast.  We made reservations the first week of Jan and already all week ends were booked, so must leave Friday afternoon.  Everyone loves your mountains!

Amy, one time I thought I'd give those mulberries a trial, my mother wouldn't ever use them because of "so many bugs".  I picked a pan full, dumped them in water to rinse & the bugs floated to the surface...... completely covered & out they went!   We had dew berries, blackberries & raspberries on the back side of our land when I grew up. They were not little ones but thumb size berries and not covered with bugs so always had plenty for pies & jams.  The mulberry trees grow in every crack of earth around here, shame to have to chop them down but they are so messy & grow so fast, and those black birds do love them.   :knuppel2:

Bubble, thanks for the new spot to chat & the funnies..... Been wondering how Don is doing since he hasn't posted after getting home.  I expect you are worn out as well, you & your family are such good hosts and know Don loves being with you.  I'm exhausted with all the activities y'all do in those short months, feel like I am right there with you.

Larry, I am surprised to read about your needing to walk more, Cas' doctors never encouraged him to be more active... just take more pills.  I am impressed with how much you do every day.  Carol's husband is another that I think gets better medical advice than Cas did.... Since we used the same doctors the cardio explained to me that "Cas' heart muscle just wasn't strong so nothing they could do to help that".  I am out here rooting everyone on & so happy to see how well everyone is doing.

I'd better get moving, warming up & I am not dressed yet.  Came to see how much sleep Fitbit showed last night.... just over 5 hours so will get extra during the "heat of the day".  Heat advisory in effect today..  People here are talking about record heat this summer so I will turn into a mole.

Gloria, great readings this morning.... I settled for a touch on the forehead for my kids.   ;)  Like that suggestion of paying attention to the everyday moments... so true.  I keep looking to see if this is a scam & not true (about the router) not hearing a lot in the news about how serious it is.

Jane, nice to know it is under warranty so you should get a new one without more money.  So often they don't quit until the day after warranty runs out.  I found out when I don't have the microwave to re-heat my coffee it is no trouble to keep a little saucepan on the gas stove to put my coffee in "the old fashioned way". Hope you don't have to wait long.

Hi Everyone.  We have a sunny morning today and are headed into the low 90's before the day is over.  Today is the day for the housekeeper and we plan to go pick up Pat's new shoes, that have finally come in, and then get our main meal out.  Yesterday the yard folks were finally able to mow and trim the yards and they now look very nice whereas they had been looking pretty shabby. Nothing else on the schedule for today and I am glad.

Amy, I know that a lot of men like to cook and will do the majority of it in their homes.  Unfortunately, I am not one of them.  We also had some more rain last night and everything is really green around here but no close by thunder.

DeAngel, one can never go wrong with meatloaf.  We will be getting more strawberries this morning as they don't seem to last long.  We usually get a gallon and then share some of them with the kids as they love them but really can't afford to buy them. Has the story changed much on General Hospital in these 50 years?  I didn't realize there were any soaps left on TV.

Carol, does the tree block the view of the cross street?  I really hate it when there are bushes planted right on a corner that makes it tough to see if there is any oncoming traffic, especially if it isn't a 4-way stop.  Glad you are happy with your Roomba.  It must be hiding under your bed so it can rest!  :)  Glad you found a new doctor.

Jane, is it possible the microwave threw a breaker?  Glad it is still under warranty but still a hassle to deal with. Glad Bucky was able to find the used part you need for your AC and was able to save you some money.  Hope you get your car back today.

June, it sounds like you could use a little scolding for trying to move furniture yourself.  Sometimes we don't heed the safety signals that our body sends us and then regret it later.  Hope today finds you feeling better.

Bubble, thank you for those very nice graphics and getting us started on a new week and a new month.

Jenny, I take it you left a few dollars behind at the casino.  Nice you could take a day trip to the mountains.

Gloria, glad to see you felt up to being on the computer this morning.  Hope your grandson has no difficulty selling his home. I am glad you like your CNA's and keep in mind you are giving someone a job when you let them do the things for you.  Very nice readings and a funny chuckle piece.

Shirley, it sounds like you will have a jam packed few days in the mountains.  I do hope you will find some time for rest and relaxation.  It remains to be seen whether I will be able to walk more.  I made a sort foray into Walmart yesterday just back to the bread department and a quick stop in the produce section at the front and by the time I got back to the car was having angina and really didn't feel very well the rest of the day.  Once again I did not get everything I need to use the oxygen for walking.  I have the hose and the cannula but not the connecting little adapter.  I will only try to walk in the house as I said yesterday.  My heart doctor and lung doctor say the same thing about my heart  that it is not able to supply the oxygen needed to let me be very active. I am just glad I can still get out of the house and still get to Church.  From all I have read apparently the problems with the router are true.  However, I am not ready to do a reset of my router but, if I can remember, I will discuss it with my son.

Lloyd, certainly happy to see your posting this morning.  I hope you can stay in where it is cool and give that leg more time to heal.

Happy June 1, Everyfriend.

Remember me?  Shirley's "south of the border" neighbor?  Have been reading regularly but never feel I have anything to add to the conversational threads that hasn't already been said.

It's been a pleasantly busy summer so far - although we're having the same kind of weather Shirley has.  Supposed to be 100* or more during the next few days.

Came home from church on Mother's Day to find #2 son planting pretty annuals among the perennials he put in 2 years ago.
Everything was in full bloom for the annual Neighborhood Yard Tour on Memorial Day Saturday evening and I made sure to "give credit where credit was due" for the compliments.  Next door neighbors had an "after-party" on their patio.  Saw some fireflies (lightning bugs?) flitting around as I walked home.

Miss Emiy received her white coat - signifying she can now begin clinical studies on her path to becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic.  She and 64 classmates were honored with a formal ceremony and reception on Friday of Memorial Day weekend.
Her parents and brother went to Kansas City for the event and - as a surprise for her - Miss Ellen flew in from NYC.  The Facebook video of Emily's reaction when she opened the door and saw her sister was priceless.
They all came home for the rest of the weekend and I had a lovely visit with both girls on that Saturday afternoon.

Met a friend yesterday to see the movie "Book Club" and then get a bite to eat.  Movie was a fun way to spend a summer afternoon and we enjoyed a nice "diner style" dinner---  surrounded by 31 members of a Kansas high school softball team who had just won a championship in some kind of tournament.   Noisy, yes - but happy chatter from well-behaved young people isn't annoying.

Need to pick up my new glasses and bake some cookies for a bridge club friend who is moving into this neighborhood today.  Another friend is stopping by to see the flower beds but she is always a "quick looker" and I don't expect her to stay long.

That's it from this corner.
Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day

I wasn't in earlier because I wasn't fit company for nice people like you.  I've just had a week from H E double toothpicks!  If I never see another week like this one, I'll be delighted!  I'm not going to discuss what has been happening because I don't wan't to think about it and you all shouldn't have to be bothered!

I'm determined....TOMORROW WILL BE BETTER!

And now, Good Night Everyfriend!  Sleep peacefully and wake refreshed.  That's my prayer for tonight and tomorrow!

Good morning everyone..

Another morning the dogs thought I should be up. Cloudy here this morning , windy with a temp of 46° love it!!! We are off to town for hubby to get his hair cut, may take in a few garage sales but we shall see how it goes.

The rain for the past few days brought the garden along, including the beans that I didn't think would grow! Now I will have two rows of beans and beans coming out my ears! Have neighbours to share with and my sister loves beans so no waste here, just waist as I love them with butter.

Jane, hope today brings you happiness and no worries. I believe we all get those times and there is a silver lining, they don't last long!

June, you know if God brings us to it, He will see us through it. Each day is a blessing to us and I know I really enjoy your posts.

Callie, Miss Emily must be so proud as well as you of her accomplishments. How long till she can practice on her own?

Gloria, happy to see your post and hope your back behaves for you. Not nice being in pain and discomfort and nothing will help.

Shirley, I understand ,I don't like protein with my fruit either. I had some raspberries and I soaked them in vinegar and up the bugs came. Asked the person that gave them to me did she find many bugs in hers and she said no, didn't soak them!!!

Lloyd ,great to see you post, you know we all miss your posts. Pop in even to just say hi..

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good (I hope) Morning Everyfriend!  So far, so good!

AMY, doggies up early here again too.  Do you think they know something we don't?  I think the one across the street was up earlier than usual the past couple of days.

I have no plans for today!  I have a comforter in the washer and if I feel like it, I might put it in the dryer later.  We shall see.  I think I might be getting ornery in my old age!

I wish you all a nice, peaceful day....me too!

Good Saturday morning.

Jane, I sure hope you will have a better day today.  I think we all have those kind of days every so often.  I am still trying to get rested up from my busy weekend last week.  I even slept all night without having to get up at all.   Can't remember the last time that happened.

Not sure what I will do today.  It was supposed to be a very rainy weekend. However, it does seem to be getting a little brighter looking and the sun is trying to make an appearance.  Supposed to be hot and muggy.

I hope everyone will have a great day.

Good morning everyone, yesterday was bad here. the humidity was up to 89% and the dew point was 78, same as the temperature. No sun at all yesterday either.I went outside and 2 minutes later I was back inside. Had the AC on the dehimidify selection and it was on thill half hour ago when I shut it off. Just heard local forecast and it will be more the same today and it is not even summer officially yet.

SHIRLEY  friends of my daughter had a Mulberry tree and gave my daughter a small one. After a year my SIL cut it down and dug up the roots. That was in San Diego. Their friends liked the tree because it shaded their house in the hot afternoons in San Diego. Would love to be with you in those beautiful mountains. Have heard nothing here on the news or anything about the router. I would not know a router so don't touch anything on the machine, had too many problems with it already.

LLOYD  great seeing your post. We do miss and worry about you when you do not post every day.

LARRY  we have a chance of thunderstorms late afternoon.  Most times that would clear the air but once in awhile it will be more humid after. I hope we do not have any 90s because the humidity would be unearable. My grandson had a bid on his house for more than he was asking about half an hour after it was listed. They found a house closer to my son but over the border into Mass. Bigger house and more land with houses not as close.

CALLIE  thought you left us, been too long since you posted. Congratulations to Emily. Would love to see your colorful flowers. They were late this year  putting the flower boxes and hanging baskets on the lamp posts. They missed Memorial day and pit them up on Thursday. Not very colorful this year, mostly purple petunias.

JUNE every day we wake up is a good day.

AMY  hope the coming week is much better for you. Send that 46° this way, PLEASE! It was 71° when I woke this morning and that was  5:30. Believe me I try not to think about my gack but the only time I don't feel it is when I sit or lay down. Cannot spend the rest of my life that way. Like you I don't like the protein with my "organic" fruit and veggies. If you read anything about what we should buy organic because of the sprays used I will keep soaking what I buy in vinegar and water and rinse them in running water after.

JANE  you ornery? That will never happen.

JOY  hot and humid is what it will be again today here.

A Scottish mother visits her son in his New York City apartment and asks, “How do you find the Americans, Donald?”

“Mother,” says Donald, “they’re such noisy people. One neighbor won’t stop banging his head against the wall, while the other screams and screams all night long.”

“Oh, Donald! How do you manage to put up with them?”

“What can I do? I just lie in bed quietly, playing my bagpipes.”

Hi Everyone.  We are suppose to only get to 89 degrees today.  Once again we had showers last evening from some pop-up storms.  Our county was under a severe thunderstorm warning but we only got some moderate winds and then the rain.  Our neighborhood is having a garage sale today and our neighbors across the street are participating as they just put their house on the market a couple of days ago.  There have already been a good number of folks stopping to check the garage sale items out.  We did not accomplish what we had planned yesterday but put it off until today as Pat just wasn't up to going out.  So hopefully today we will get some strawberries and pick up her new shoes and also have our main meal out.  I may go to my meeting this morning but haven't decided for sure.

Callie, of course I remember you but don't be a stranger.  I sure remember that hot Oklahoma weather and the wind that always seemed to be blowing.  I bet you have a beautiful yard.  Congratulations to Miss Emily on the progress in her training.  Nice of her sister to come back to be there for the important event.

Jane, sorry this has been such a dreadful week for you.  Did you get your car back yesterday?  Sure hope you have a good day today.

June, I sure hope today is a better one for you as well as for Jane. May God bless you this day.

Amy, enjoy the yard sales today.  I am shocked at the number of cars that have stopped for the garage sale across the street.  I can remember how nice my mother's garden used to look in the Spring as things before to come up and grow.  I guess your friend just got some protein with her raspberries if she didn't soak them.

Lloyd, enjoy your cooler weather and please don't overdo in your shop.

Joy, maybe we have sent some of our rainy weather up your way although you often get weather systems that don't impact us.

Gloria, it appears to be a great time to be selling a house.  It sounds like someone was watching for homes in his area to be put on the market.  That is what happened to us on our last house.

Good afternoon, very hot and humid. 100%

Jane and June, hope to day is better for both of you.

Did not get much done yesterday except friend took me to Friendly's, we had to wait a long time, as we did not know it was free large hamburger day. all you had to do was buy a soda and you got a free hamburger Then she took me shopping to the Christmas Tree store.,  Also got a call from someone I did not remember. My nephew just handed me the phone when it rang.  Talked for about 5 min.  After they hung up, I checked the name. on caller ID It was someone I had played Wii bowling with at the senior about 5 years ago. They just wanted to know how I was doing

Bubble, thanks for new page.

Callie, Iknow you are so proud of miss Emily, and you should be another big step

Larry, some of the actors on GH, have been there for 40 years. Robbin has been on since she was 7

Good Afternoon, Everyfriend,

Amy,  Emily is in the third of ten trimesters needed to earn her Doctorate.  I don't know if there are other ceremonies before she graduates.    She already has an offer to join a practice in her home area after graduation.  This will be perfect for her because she isn't as adventurous as Ellen is.

Lindancer,  Ellen just posted a picture on Facebook titled "fishing at Gantry Plaza State Park" on Long Island - with the hashtag  "can'ttaketheokieoutofthegirl".    It's of people on the pier with the city skyline in the background (across the river?)    No hint as to who she's with or whose idea this was.   Her other grandmother taught all of her Grands to fish but Ellen never liked it as much as the others.   I suspect she's "showing off" a bit to her city friends but I think it's great that she's exploring different things to do.

Gloria,  my flowers have never been this pretty.  Son planted things that don't require much care other than watering. Then he installed a little sprinkler system with a hose that connects to the outdoor faucet.  It can be laid in any pattern and has sprinkler head "stakes" that are stuck into the hose wherever needed.  There's a timer on the faucet connection so all I have to do is step out onto the patio, set the timer and turn on the faucet.   The HOA sprinkler runs three times a week but that's not enough to keep the flowers going.

Didn't get to pick my glasses up because #2 son stopped in and visited quite a while.  Some big changes about to happen in his world - all goodbut not quite time to talk about them.

Didn't bake cookies, either because I remembered this friend doesn't eat sweets - not even a piece of candy or a cookie that the Bridge Club hostesses provide.
I'll take her some of the slider sandwiches topped with a butter/honey mustard/Worcestershire sauce mixture and heated before eating.

Am trying to keep up with the OK University softball team's progress in the NCAA Tournament being played here in OKC.   I'm not really a fan of softball or baseball but got interested in this team when Emily was working at the tournament during college.    They lost the first game on Thursday but won this morning.  They play again this evening and, if they win, will have to play the team that beat them on Thursday and win in order to get into the Finals.

Hope the day is going well for Eachfriend.

CALLIE, I know I don't say it often enough but you have every right to be proud of your grandchildren!  And Emily's latest step is proof of that.  Not only is she doing what is best for her, her family (including siblings) are proud of her and that's important.

My dinner is in the oven and my microwave is in the shop!  I managed to get it down off the shelf and into the car and drove it to my son's store.  He took it out of the trunk and checked it out while I was there.  He said, "maybe it just blew a fuse inside."  And when I left he was taking the back off.  Maybe I'll get it back soon....maybe not!  I told him I lived without a microwave for 40 years.  I guess I can manage a few more days.  My dinner is in the oven!

I'm happy to say that nothing off happened today.  Of course it's not over yet but I tend to wear my rose-colored glasses most of the time.

Enjoy what's left of the day!

Jane, to me two of the best inventions have been the crock pot and the microwave, they made cooking easier My husband spoil me after  we retired he always cooked breakfast.

Gloria de, I agree with you about those two items.  They revolutionized cooking but I'd also have to add my electric fry pan and my electric canner to the list.

I'm going to try to go to bed early tonight because I'm unusually tired tonight.  It's probably because the doggies have decided that morning comes earlier these days.  I suppose that could also mean that night comes earlier, too.  I'm going to test that theory!  So I wish you all a GOOD NIGHT!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  My theory worked last night!  I did sleep better by going to bed earlier.  However, it had no effect on when the doggies greeted the day.  It was just short of 5:30 a.m. when they decided it was MORNING!  Maybe adjustments are in order.

I'm going to feed them now and then get ready for church.  It's my morning to read the lesson.  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!

Today is a day of rest here, tomorrow we should be getting another load of wood, our last one!

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hi Everyone.  It is a very foggy morning here but we are to have a sunny day getting up to 93 degrees this afternoon.

I am ready for Sunday School and Church this morning.  I am bringing the devotional for today at Sunday School and also expect I will lead the singing if none of the choir members (we have two or three in our class) are present.  We brought home left overs from eating out at noon yesterday.  We went to Pizza Hut and started to order a medium sized pizza when the waitress told us that a large pizza was actually cheaper than the medium. So now we have our lunch for today probably with a salad.

We did stop for some strawberries, a couple of ears of sweet corn and 4 beautiful peaches on our way to the shoe store.  When we got to the shoe store we found it was closed yesterday due to a death in the family and would reopen on Monday.  I am looking forward to the finish of the golf tournament today. I did order a reconditioned iPhone 5c in a green color yesterday afternoon and it should be here by the end of the week.  The new phone she has been using won't pick up a signal now and is useless except to call 911.

deAngel, did you get one of the free hamburgers after the long wait?  I remember you going to the Christmas Tree store in the past.  Did you find a lot of new things on display?  It is nice when someone cares enough about you to call you after 5 years.  I guess appearing on General Hospital must have made a good career if they have stayed that long.  For quite awhile now I have been fixing Pat's breakfast and occasionally will also fix a sandwich for her lunch if she wants me to do so.  She generally takes care of the dinner meal although will help her if she asks for it.

Callie, that is a lot of study for Emily.  Is her training now more book study as well as clinical learning? Nice she already has a position lined up in her home area when she graduates.  It sounds like Ellen has a lot of energy and a wide area of interest.  I wonder if she caught any fish?  Wish you could share a picture of your flowers with us as they sound so beautiful.  I look forward to when you can tell us of the big changes your #2 son will have in his life.

Jane, I hope you get your microwave back today and you obviously got your car back since you put the microwave in it and drove it to your son's store.  I bet he will see that you soon have a microwave that works.  Nice to see you had a nice day yesterday.  Nothing wrong with rose-colored glasses.  Glad to see you had a good night's rest.

Amy, you got a bargain on the binder as when you buy them in the store they are several dollars.  Some of mine have now been taped together with a wide black duct tape.  None of them match but they do the work. Enjoy your day of rest as you deserve it.

Good Morning,

Larry,    Emily's classes are "set in stone" for each trimester - no "electives" and no deviation.  The subjects are way out of my comfort zone for understanding.   :D

https://www.cleveland.edu/uploaded/pdfs/academics/DC_Academic_Flex10.pdf (https://www.cleveland.edu/uploaded/pdfs/academics/DC_Academic_Flex10.pdf)

I don't know if she will do any clinical activities this trimester but I do know that she and a friend went shopping for outfits that look more "professional" while she was home. ( Never mind that her white coat will be worn over them.   ;D)

I learned that Ellen was part of a team that participated in The Great Fish Count
https://www.worldsciencefestival.com/programs/great-fish-count-2017/ (https://www.worldsciencefestival.com/programs/great-fish-count-2017/).
She said they were "all over New York City" and the team caught three bass.

The OU softball team won both games yesterday and will meet the team that defeated them on Thursday in the semi-finals today.   GO SOONERS !  :cheer:

Off to "get me to the church on time".

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good afternoon, sun shinning but cool

Callie, Do you think miss Ellen, likes NY enough  to stay here to take a job in the city?
As we use to say nice to visit, but not to live.  I remember my husband and I would run into the city, park the car, go to Radio City eat at Tads Steak or Bennehuna and come home with very little hassle. Now  the traffic and parking would have kept us away. Have to add a story.  When Dennis was about 4 we went into the city, and decided to see mattina play.  We got tickets for The Girls in 209 with Peggy Wood, forgot who else.  The play started, we were in the balcony, my Dennis stood  up and shouted they are ALIve He thought we were going to see a movie :-[

Back from a wonderful Church service. I really like our new Pastor. He is so much "one of us". His daughter plays the music for us quite frequently, and his wife is so warm and friendly. Now it is time to scoot down for dinner.......I will have roast turkey with all the trimmings. I am learning to ask for half servings though, as they feed us too much.

see you later, June.

Lindancer,  Ellen has lived in NYC since October, 2016. She shares a Washington Heights apartment with three other musical theater "wanna-bes",  has made a lot of friends to run around with and has just gotten a raise in her job as a hostess at a restaurant near Times Square. Yes, I think she likes it well enough to stay.  :)
Love your Dennis' comment!
Ellen/Emily's mom is a former middle school basketball coach.  The first few times I took the girls to a theater production they called intermission "half-time".

My Sooner softball girls lost their game.  :(   I know softball is a game of strategy as well as skill but I think it's tacky when the main hitter is always walked instead of getting a chance to swing at a pitch.   >:(

This is a very quiet Sunday, both here on the computer and at Rowntree Gardens. Gary will be returning from the place he gave the Retreat, then he and Dori can celebrate her Birthday together. I think it will be a dinner out with their oldest son since Gary is coming in later. I'm not hungry, so I'll have something light here at home. I spent the afternoon reading and dozing. It got warmer today so I had the A/C going for a while.

Callie, your famly sounds like a close loving group. How did Ellen decide she would make N.Y. her home ? I feel so happy for her....doing what she likes, where she likes.

Good morning everyone 46°. After a few days of it being hot and humid now it feels cold at 46 this morning. I think the big changes in the weather lately got to me yesterday. Supposed to be a drizzly day, too. Winter clothes will feel good but they are all put away now.  Ahh Mother Nature is sure being fickle this year.  I just heard that in Boston they are thinking of changing the name of Fanuel Hall. Crazy, That has been the name since the Revolution. I have been in there and you can tell it is a very old building. The stone stairs are worn down in the center where people have walked on them for centuries.

CALLIE  in Sab Diego my SIL put in a soaket hose for my daughter's garden. Worked like what your son installed in your flowers, timer and all. Hope things work out the way your #2 son wants.

JANE  I seldom use my microwave. Maybe because it is light so early now the dogs are messed up.

AMY  since I got up this morning we now have some of that liquid sunshine too. Would love to turn the heat on but it is off for the summer.

Have a good day.

You're Not in Control (But God Is)
(By Chuck Graham)

Control is a very interesting thing. When we're in it, we feel confident and secure. When we lose it, we become fearful and impatient. When we use it, we sense importance and power. When we're out of it, we are angry and unreasonable. And the more we claim it, the more we find we don't have it after all.

The other day I was making my own special pot of chili. I put all of the ingredients on the counter, separating them in their own little piles. I was in control. I got out my very sharp knife and carefully cut up the meat, chopped up the onions and bell peppers, and sautéed everything on the stove. I was using control. Then I sliced through the tomatoes and added them to the pot, along with just the right amount of spices. Not too much. I was exercising control. Now it was time for the main ingredients.

Chili peppers come in all shapes and sizes. Some are large and sweet with just a little bit of a kick, and others will peel the paint off a new car. I was using peppers that were medium on the burn scale, but it was still important to be in control. That usually means frequently washing your hands as you handle the peppers as well as using a fan to ventilate the fumes. Usually, that's what that means. But I was in a hurry. So I went about slicing, de-seeding, and chopping the peppers into little bitty pieces.

Half way through this process I noticed that my left hand was tingling. Instead of washing my hands, I decided to speed things up. As the tingling increased to a noticeable irritation, skin turning red and that sort of thing, I worked even faster. About that time I also noticed an uncomfortable burning sensation in my throat, my nose was feeling a little funny, and my eyes were tearing up. But instead of turning on the fan, I rushed through the last of the chopping, gathered everything up, and dumped the load into my simmering pot. I smiled as tears rolled down my cheeks and said, "It is good."

Then suddenly something happened I had not planned on. I sneezed. One of those great big, from deep in your lungs kind of sneezes. And instantly I realized exactly what a dragon would feel like as the molten, skin-searing blast from the fiery depths of hell had just exploded through its nostrils.

It's hard to adequately describe the intensity of the burning I felt just then, mainly because I lost control. I grabbed a glass of water and threw it on my face. No help at all. I decided to stop breathing entirely, but that was only temporary relief. Then I got my handkerchief and blew my nose. Not sure why I did that, especially since it simply re-ignited the fire. Finally, as a last ditch effort, I hurried to the fridge. (At this point I would like to thank my Heavenly Father for allowing us to have one that makes ice, not in cubes, but in long, more oval shapes.) Reaching into the freezer I grabbed two rods of ice and shoved them up my nose. They were a little large but I didn't care because the burning stopped.

I retired to a comfortable chair in the den, a shaft of melting ice protruding from each nostril, and contemplated what had just happened. Might as well. I was in no shape to cook at the moment. And what occurred to me was while all that time I thought I was in control, it certainly didn't take long to completely lose it. One minute I'm chopping and stirring, the next I'm running around the kitchen with ice up my nose. Where did it all go wrong? Ah...when I became satisfied with my own ability.

We do that as Christians, too. Instead of looking to God to provide us His ability to exercise control, we forget about Him and try to make it in life using only our own. It doesn't work. There are too many things this world can throw at us. Too many frustrations and irritations; too many disappointments and broken dreams. Anger, fear, anxiety, pain, sorrow, confusion...there's just too much. But not for God!

"I know what it is to be in need and what it is to have more than enough. I have learned this secret, so that anywhere, at any time, I am content, whether I am full or hungry, whether I have too much or too little. I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me." Philippians 4:12-13 (TEV)

Let God be in control. He will give you the strength to face it all. And in that, there is great peace.

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we are going into a period of sunny and hot days for awhile and that the rain has moved on.  It was 94 yesterday and very humid.  One of our Sunday School members had brought in a large basket of plums to share with the class that he had picked off of his tree.  They are about the size of a large group and I have never seen plums like this before.  I haven't tried any of them yet but will later today. Church ran about 15 minutes late yesterday as it was Graduation Sunday.  Our graduates from high school and college this year were recognized.  Our Church awards quite a number of scholarships and those were awarded.  The High School graduates participated in the service and two of them spoke rather than having a sermon.  Afterwards the seniors and their parents were treated to a nice lunch in our Fellowship Hall.

I didn't realize that the golf tournament had started early and when I tuned in at 3 pm it was in a playoff already. We are still having phone problems as apparently the signal is so weak it won't work on Pat's phone and at night it won't work on mine either here in the house.  I went out on the driveway last night and the phone worked fine but could not call out inside the house.  I will be looking into this today as this is unacceptable.  If Pat is up to to going out today we will pick up her shoes and run a couple of other errands. That will be it for today.

Callie, having grown up in NW Missouri and then living the the Kansas City area I am aware of the Cleveland Chiropractic Clinic but know little about it.  I read over the link you provided and the doctorate looks really hard and out of my comfort zone as well.  Some of the terms I have never heard of before.  Is she studying for the Doctorate or the second program shown? Sorry that your Sooner softball girls lost their game.  Are they now out of the competition?  I know that some of the sports have double elimination.

Amy, Pat used to go on quilt shop outings with a couple of her good friends but that is now out of the question for her. She lets her fingers do the shopping online now.

Gloria, it is a shame that some things cannot be left alone such the name of Fanuel Hall.  Why are they wanting to change it?  We would be lost without our microwave and it is used almost everyday for something.  Hope you can stay warm today.

Lloyd, we also have a hummingbird feeder out on our patio and Pat can watch them from her easy chair.  They are very aggressive birds for their size.  However, that sharp little beck looks very dangerous.

Jane, glad you have a day where you can do just what you want to do.  Enjoy your more springlike weather today.

deAngel, many years ago Pat and I were staying at the Fred Waring resort in Pennsylvania for a week and took a one-day bus tour into New York City.  That was enough for me and sure glad I wasn't driving.

June, I expect a number of the residents there ask for the half servings.  Glad you had a nice Church service yesterday.

Larry,   Emily is studying for her Doctorate.    The OU team had lost their first game to the team that beat them (again) yesterday.  They are out of the tournament - after having won the championship for the past two years.

Weather is slightly cooler this morning  Looks like a nice day to do errands....so I think I shall.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Sandy, I'm finding a lot of things are getting messed up in my life, and I think most of it is my own fault. I ordered some things on Amazon today. That used to be so simple, now it leaves me trying to do what I want to do and not finding it the way it used to be. I think my 93 years is really catching up to me now. Another one is Jacquie Lawson cards....grrrrr.

Guess that is enough griping from me for today. I just adore the latest picture of your darling Grand daughter....so much personality ! AND beauty.

Good evening.  I have been sitting here on needles and pins waiting for the call from our son and dil in California.  Megan got the call this morning from her doctor wanting to tell her what sex the new baby will be.  Megan asked them to not tell her, but to please call her back and leave the message on her phone so she and Mark could hear it together.  He should be getting home pretty soon, so we are both sitting here just waiting.

We had a busy weekend.  Saturday afternoon the family all gathered to watch our Granddaughter Kate in her dance recital.  She was in five dances and did a wonderful job.  It was two hours long and we we all well entertained.  Several of the dad’s, including Dr. Dave have been practicing and did their own routine.  What a hoot that was.  Afterwards our family all went to Mexican Food and had a nice fun finish to a nice time together!

We had a call from our Boston Son, Kurt today, telling us the Snapping Turtle has returned again to their yard to deposit her eggs.  She came on June 12th last year.

The phone call just came........they will be having a BOY!  Of course we are thrilled to death to hear the news and the added most important information that he is health and there are no known issues.  The tests that they can do theses days is so amazing.  Oh my!  My heart is overflowing with joy.  We are so blessed and are very thankful.

I hope SHIRLEY and Pete had a safe drive to Colorado.  It is a bit warm here this week, but it will be nice for them in the mountains.  We were hoping we could get up there to see them, but this week has brought up a few things that we did not plan on, so it is looking pretty unlikely. 😢

Mark and Megan are going to call us back as he had to jump in the shower after just finishing off the junior league boys lesson this late afternoon.  I was so pleased he called before he took his shower.  He was pretty anxious to be able to tell us.  I am anxious to hear what Megan’s Parents said when they were told.  Megan is the oldest of two girls and he sister just had a baby girl 9 months ago....I would think her parents will be thrilled to have a boy in their family!

I hope you all are doing well.....

Jenny

Hi Everyone. Our day starts off a bit overcast but it is suppose to be another mostly cloudy with a high of only 83.  We didn't get out yesterday as Pat wasn't feeling up to doing so.  However, she is up early this morning and eating the breakfast I prepared for her so think she will be up to getting out this morning and going to the shoe store.  I might be able to talk her into stopping at Texas Roadhouse for our main meal of the day (probably won't have to talk very long).  So it should be a pleasant day.

I talked with the Consumer Cellular people yesterday and they checked and found that AT&T is having some issues in our area that may be contributing to our phone problems.  So we will give it a few more days before making a decision to try something else. We still have about 10 days on our initial 30-day free trial.

Callie, I always think it is probably good for the sport that no one team dominate with the Championships for too long.  After looking at that required course of study that Emily is facing I realize she has to be very smart to get through all of those courses.  Just learning to spell many of the medical words must be a challenge plus all of the math and lab work she will have to do.

June, your message came through OK yesterday and I remember seeing an previous message when I read the new postings yesterday morning.  Computers can confuse us sometimes.  I bet when Gary or Dori visit with you they would be happy to help you do the ordering at Amazon and probably with the Jacquie Lawson site as well.  Pat has had a subscription with the Jacquie Lawson for the last two or three years but we have had no problems.

Jenny, I bet the little dancers got a kick out of their dads doing their dance number.  Glad you enjoyed the dance recital and the meal afterwards.  I see you will have another grandson and good news that all is well with the new baby.  I bet your are great and loving grandparents.

Jane, that weeding doesn't sound like you took things easy yesterday.  I will have to mention meat loaf to Pat as it has been awhile since we had it and it is relatively easy for her to fix in the big mixer.  Hope you get a lot of smiles in your line today.  It doesn't sounds like a very pleasant day up your way weather wise.

Lloyd, nothing wrong with not pushing yourself to work so hard.  How many chickens are you raising this year?

Sandy, you are chilly up your way at 48.  Are the low temperatures to continue for a few days?

Amy, nice that you had some help from your neighbor and hubby in stacking the wood.  We just have cell phones and haven't had a land line in quite a few years.

Good morning everyone, 50° now at 8:30. Rained most of the day yesterday with some real downpours at times. Sun shining now but forecasters say chance ot thunderstorms late in the day.

LLOYD  would love to send you some of the rain we have been getting.

JANE  last night the weather man said we were 20 degrees below the normal for this time of year.

LARRY  I have no idea who or why they want to change the name of a centuries bit or our history.

JUNE  I do not order groceries online often and every time I do I find something different on the site. Like you I wish they would stop doing that.

JENNY  another wonderful grandson for you.

Wonder if I can get some Zzzzs before my CNA gets here.

Good Afternoon, We also have a cool day, but sun shinning, very windy

Gloria, the first time I visited Boston, Mark took me to Fanuel Hall. Its funny in this country we change names and tear down old places.  Then we turn around and go to other countries to view there old building, churches etc.

Larry, just got my new portable oxygen (inogen) saw it advertised in books and TV, I have to take oxygen with me when I go out for a few hours.  This weighs only 2 lbs. The one medicare gives me weighs 9lbs and I cannot handle it alone,  When I am home I am OK, it is doing a lot of walking I lose my breath

Jenny, I always thought it nice to have a boy first. I guess that is my old way of thinking.

June, do not be so hard on yourself. We all have good days and then some we are not so happy with.  You still have a beautiful way of writing. I wish I could put sentences together like you do.

I'm home from work, had my lunch, let the doggies out and gave them a snack.  Now I'm visiting my friends.

JENNY, I forgot to congratulate you on the new grandSON!  Take every chance you get to spoil him.  It's your duty!

LARRY, I hope you got your meatloaf.  Mine was good last night for supper and today for lunch.  Left over meat loaf is something I never get tired of eating.

I'm going to play a couple games, fill out an application and maybe get a snooze.  Enjoy the rest of your day, Everyfriend!

Good Morning all, just back from our monthiy Community Members meeting. Very interesting today. We are offered an opportunity to speak, and of course I did. Whether I get results is another story, but I was thanked for speaking.

Later i enquired about having treatment for my continued back pain....this is done at our clinic. They will notify my Dr. and it is up to her if she wants it done at our treatment center. I am SO glad I live here.
While I was at the cllinic Eric felt I should have the handles raised on my walker, so I didn't bend over while walking. With in minutes he had it done and it is far more comfortable and keeps me walking straight instead of bending over. Help is given even when not asked for.

Soon time to go down for lunch. I will order half serving, unless it is something I really like and want to eat for supper at home. Then they will pack it up for me to take home and put in my fridge.

Life is good, and getting better ! Love you, my cyber family. Big Hugs. June

Is everyone asleep out there ????The reason I ask  ? no messages, and I just woke up from a long afternoon nap. Had a nice lunch...brought home enough for supper, did an errand, then lay down to read, and slept for over two hours. From my window on the world, I see carts lined up outside the patio dining room so others are alive out there and enjoying theilr supper.

The day turned lovely....sunshine and not too warm. I have my windows open and my indoor thermometer reads 82. Our nights are usually in the low 60's, so I leave my windows open and just use as sheet as covering.....and a nightgown of course. I'll be heating up my supper soon, then off for a "walk around" before the bed starts calling me again. Being 93 is like being 3 months of age again. I get my stomach filled and then fall asleep.

Jane, what games do you play on the computer ? Free Cell is my favorite then solitaire, or sometimes a jig saw puzzle. I have others listed but they are just so-so.

Lloyd, are you still planning on turning over the farm to your young Nephew to run. You had talked about it some time back. I know you enjoy doing it yourself, but you will have to slow back little by little as the years go by. I loved living on my Uncle's farm during the summer months when I was a kid. A great, good style of life.

Time to go heat up some supper. Have a good nignt dear hearts. I love you all, and God loves us even more. June

June, I am still resting up from my weekend in Indianapolis, so have not posted much.  I had a good time and I had said this would be my last trip, being 94, but I told them if I felt as good next year as I do now, I'd be back (Shirley told me this would not be my last trip there and she may be right).  My nephew Tom and my cousin Tom meet in Merrillville IN, we have lunch, then my things are transferred from one car to another and away we go.  We do this to get me down there and also back home.  Both Toms like the arrangement because they can get back home the same day.

Dot had a birthday Sunday and she is getting along quite well.  She has had extreme pain in her hips due to arthritis but she keeps busy, knowing if she doesn't, she won't be able to move.  She still drives and picks me up for church because I do not drive now.

I'm off to Dreamland.  Good night Everyfriend.

JUNE, the games I play are mostly word games but some card games, too.  I like the word games because they keep my mind active.  I have to think.  I love crosswords ever since my grandmother got me interested when I was 11 or 12 years old.

I'm off to bed!

Lloyd, take it easy whenever you feel like it.  You've earned it!

I already made the dog food and now we're waiting for the boinger to let us know "pill time" has passed.  I'll be off to WM again today to greet my public.  Wish me smiles...and take a few for yourselves while you're at it!

Hi Everyone. This should be another partly sunny day, no rain in the forecast and a high of 91.

This afternoon I will make a trip to Target to have the SIM cards changed over to the T-Mobile lines to see if we get better service before we cancel out the Consumer Cellular plan for our cell phones.  There was a T-Mobile store in the shopping center where Pat picked up her shoes yesterday and I checked with them and they said we should have strong service in our location.  I may have to spend $30 a month more to get service through them if what I plan on doing today doesn't work.

This evening Scott and we don't know who else in terms of Elizabeth and Jennifer, will be out for the evening.  Pat fixed a Jello salad yesterday and the green beans and this afternoon will fix mac and cheese with ham chunks for our dinner tonight.  Yesterday we did eat out at IHOP and had a very good meal.

Gloria, I hope you had a nice day yesterday and avoided more rain last evening.  We sure haven't been below normal temperatures here as it has been hot. I see that today is not getting off to a good start for you and hope you will be feeling better later.

Lloyd, do you have chickens for egg laying purposes or just to eat?

deAngel, your new portable oxygen sounds very good and I see you can carry it over your shoulder.  I looked it up to see what it looked like.  Does it use rechargeable batteries?  That is so much better than what use to be required to wheel around an oxygen tank when one was out.  The oxygen concentrator I have is anything but portable and is very noisy but runs on electricity.  Fortunately it does have wheels but must weigh 40 or 50 pounds.

Amy, I remember that Rhubarb always grew very early and very large.  I don't remember my mother ever using very much of it and I really disliked whatever she made with it.  Hope you got some extra rest yesterday.

Jane, we didn't have meatloaf yesterday as we ate out and I had the Senior Sampler Breakfast for my meal.  I don't think IHOP has meatloaf on their menu.  I know that Cracker Barrel does feature it however.  I just read this morning that IHOP is changing their name to IHOb and will announce what that means next Monday.  Apparently someone has decided the IHOP log is stale.

June, glad you were able to be heard in your Community Members meeting and hope you see results.  It sounds wise to check into some treatment for your back pain.  I hope you will be able to have treatment in your treatment center and not have to go off the property for it.  I have understood that one should walk upright with a walker.  Pat has hers so she doesn't have to bend over.

Mary Ann, sure hope you will be able to make your Indianapolis trip again next year.  It sounds like the trip wasn't too much for you this year.  Happy Birthday to Dot.  It must be hard for her to keep active with the extreme hip pain.

Lloyd, sorry that last night wasn't a good one for you.  Sometimes we don't recognize our limits and do overwork.

Amy, hope you don't have to chase too many of those dust bunnies today.  I know they are persistent, at least they are at our house.

Good morning.  Just want to say Hi !

Nothing much special going  on in my little neck of the woods. We had several thunderstorms last evening and this morning the sun is shining.  Still a little chilly for this time of the year.  Another rainy week end is forecasted. This will make the 3rd or 4th rainy week end.  We have had enough rain for a while.

Gloria de,  My friend is looking into getting the type of oxygen that you are using.  She had called one place and they said she didn't qualify for that. I am wondering what determines whether you qualify or not?  She wasn't sure what that meant either.

MaryAnn, I, too, hope that you will be able to make the trip to Indianapolis next year.  Sounds like you all have it worked out that it seems like an easy trip for everyone involved.  I do not mind traveling by car, as I like to look at the scenery.  I would sure like to be planning a trip somewhere.   Not too far, but just someplace nice.   I did go up to Connecticut last fall to see my grand daughter, and I am hoping, that I might be able to go again sometime.  It was about a 6 hour drive and not bad at all.  We stopped a couple times just to get out and stretch a bit.

I did make a call to our local recycling office in town to try to clarify some things about some new laws that just went into effect in our county.  In the past, we have been able to put our recyclables in a plastic bag and put out with our trash.  No longer can plastic bags be used. So, our manager has told everyone that we have to take the recyclables out to the recycling dumpster in the back driveway and dump them in the bin.  We can store them inside a plastic bag. but the things inside must be dumped out of the plastic bag.  Most of the residents here are up in arms about this.  There are a lot of people who just aren't able to do that.  So, the majority of residents have decided they just will put their items into the regular trash.  The lady I talked to was very nice, and she gave me the number of someone else who could give me more information as to what we might do to help solve the problem.  Last evening, we had quite a heated conversation concerning this "new" problem.  Our place is getting almost as bad as the place where Gloria lives.  We have a manager who is just not interested in the welfare of the residents.  She is more interested in making sure all the units are occupied because that gives her bonuses.   We have a new  resident coordinator, who is trying very hard to organize activities, but she is being held back by the manager.  Very little participation among the residents.  I have not had much dealings with her, except to hand her my rent check.  But, according to some of the residents, she is a very hard lady to deal with.  Wants things her way, or no way.  She is the 6th or 7th manager that has been here since I moved here, 11 years ago.  We did have a meeting several months ago, like Gloria did, but very little outcome from it.

I am feeling a lot more rested and feel like doing something.  So, I guess I better get myself moving along.

Hope everyone will have a great day.

Joy

Good afternoon, nice sunny day, still in the 60's

Joy, I had to pay full for my inogen (very expensive oxygen) but worth it to me, as it weighs only 2 lbs. If I got the 4lb Medicare pays a big part of the coast. I met a women in Homemakers that medicare paid for the whole unite,. Maybe she has low income?  You do have to have your pulmonary doctor write and order. I have rotator cuff problem, I cannot pick up over 3 lbs. The Portable that medicare gave me last year weighs 9 lbs

Larry, I just wrote a lot about my new oxygen in the above post. I go out quite a bite and this I  or my friends can handle if I need oxygen, Medicare had give me one on a cart and also two 9 lbs portables. I wish we had a CrACKER bARREL here but none in NYS I heard.  We have stopped in nearest one in Conn,

MaryAnn, glad to see you home safe, know your Kitty is happy

Our trash is picked up weekly but our recycle is picked up every other week.  The haulers gave us a tub for recyclables and we put loose things in there, putting both kinds in front of our garages.  Recycle is picked up early in the morning and trash about noon.  Tom takes care of the recycle and I do the trash.  We've had half a dozen trash haulers in the 37 years I've been here.

Larry, what is the purpose of the small 'b' instead of the capital 'P' for the IHOP change?

We are enjoying upper 60 degree weather today and the sun is shining brightly.  Oh, the sky is a pretty blue.

I told the Indps folks about having a cat named for Kendrick Lamar and the parents didn't know who he was but the quads and their sister (ages 27 and 30) did.  The parents are in their 60s.  I get a kick out of people's reactions.

Gloria de,,  No,  I don't think it was that my friend has a low income......just the opposite.  She has quite a nice income and investments, so I am thinking maybe she has too high an income.  She was going to try several other places.  Or, I thought maybe her problem wasn't  as bad and didn't need that kind. She complains about what she has is just a little too heavy to handle, plus it doesn't really last that long for her to be out for any length of time.  I haven't talked to her for a few weeks now, so maybe she has been able to get something that is satisfactory for her.

Joy, I am very happy with my inogen, I do not need oxygen all the time, but have it when I get short of breath, after walking any distance.  I also have ongyon all night though.  I can also use his one to sleep with as I can plug it into and electrical outlet I will use it to morrow when I go out to a Red Hat luncheon

Janie, how long have you been an employee of WM ? Could you possibly speak to the "in charge" person and arrange for a permanent short line lane ? It hurts me to think of you working so hard at this time of life.

I went to a good Blble study group this morning, and that is the only worthwhile thing I have done today. Enjoyed my morning routine very much, but come lunch time, I just fade away and spend the afternoon sound asleep. I did take a walk late this afternoon, but trying to decide to eat some supper. I have not been what one would consider hungry for years now.

Just finished another book. The author spoke to us several months ago, and gave us free books. Mine is autographed,so it is a keeper.

I better think about heating up some left-overs for supper, but I'm sure not hungry. I brought home half my lunch,so that will be supper. Keep well and happy dear hearts. Love, Hugs and Prayers. June

Good evening.  Another day that passed much too quickly.

Son Brian came over today with Oliver the Doodle.  He and BoB hung some cute little lights out on our patio for me.  They look very nice and give off just enough light with out being too much.

We are having a lightning and thunderstorm storm!  So far no rain, but I hope it will turn into some.  The news said it is too warm to allow the rain.

We are meeting some cousins for breakfast tomorrow morning.  It will be very god to see them all.

I really appreciated all the nice comments about our newly expected Grandson.  I do not think we could ever not be excited about getting new babies in our families.....

Think I will get off f here as there is really a LOT of lightning and thunder.
Lea saint dreams t9 all.

Overcast and very muggy here this morning.  We vote today and then will head on into the city. Hubby's remote for his hearing aid has stopped working and the company is giving him a loaner till they get a new one for him.

Larry, with two long haired dogs, there are always dust bunnies but I don't mind that little inconvenience it is not a worry.

Jane, sure hope you get short lines and short orders :)

Gloria, I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Everyone. It looks like we are in for another hot but otherwise nice day here in the South.  I had a very busy day yesterday and this morning will be the same.  I did go to Target yesterday afternoon and had our phone put on the T-Mobile system rather than the AT&T cell phone plan.  I had to wait while and elderly lady was trying to get put on the Cingular Cellular phone plan only to find out her phone was not compatible.  She just couldn't understand why not and the patient man who was helping her explained the situation over and over.  He then helped me and all went well with my phone but when he tried to connect Pat's phone he got a message it was locked, although I had bought it as an unlocked phone.  The AT&T store was near by so took it there only to find out they couldn't help me or won't willing to try (a continuation of the lack of service with AT&T in their stores that I had previously found).  Anyway last evening Scott was able to help me and we got the unlock code by jumping through the hoops on their website and all seems well and I think Pat now has good service. Unfortunately, I hadn't taken the little folders the sim cards came in to get a refund on the two sim from AT&T so this morning left early and was at  Target when they opened and got my refund.  In a little while I will  go pickup my friend and we will go to the Thursday coffee group downtown.
I haven't had time to read the postings since yesterday and will do so this afternoon.  I just wanted to check in for now.

Lloyd, I agree that eggs are now very inexpensive.  We get eggs now at Aldi's for $0.99 per dozen.  For awhile they had them at $0.49 cents.  I don't see how farmers can afford to produce for that price although think Aldi's uses them as a loss leader  as they are more expensive in the other stores.

Joy, I guess the rain is just enjoying being around your area.  We are finally getting some days and nights without rain but it is now really hot during the day.  Of course, we are only bout 2 weeks away from the start of summer so guess we have to expect hot weather.  In our little town we can put recyclable items in a special blue bag the city provides and put them in the trash can.  However, it is not required and we don't do the recycling anymore.  I would be one of the residents who just put the recyclables in the trash if I lived in your town.  Sorry to read that you seem to have an uncaring manager now.

deAngel, your new oxygen concentrator sounds well worth the expenditure.  I remember when my sister and I spent $4000 for a special mattress to prevent bed sores.  He was shocked when we told him what it cost and I reminded him laying on his dollar bills wouldn't bring him any comfort and he never said another word about it.  It was constantly changing the air pressure in the different cells of the mattress and was well worth the money.

Mary Ann, I have no idea what the "b" in IHOb stands for and they are suppose to reveal what it stand for on June 11th.  They are asking people to guess what it is going to stand for as a way of getting up interest in something that is totally unimportant, in my view.

Jane, it doesn't seem fair to ask you to work two long and busy lines during the shift but I suppose fairness is not a consideration.  I hope you get a couple of days o recuperate before having to go back to work.

June, nice to read you were feeling up to attending your Bible study group and enjoy it.  If I don't get things done in the morning they likely won't get done as I wear down by noon.  Yesterday I was busy for several hours in the afternoon and feeling felt it last night and find I am a bit weary this morning but OK.  I will have a quiet afternoon and hope a quiet Friday as well to rest up for the weekend.

Jenny, your lights sound very nice.  Your area sure seems to get a lot of storms and variations of weather form day to day.

Good morning Everyfriend!  For some reason, this thing was not bringing me back to the Soda Shoppe.  I thought no one was posting until I came in by the back door and there you all were.

Our doggie groomer will be coming today to clean up  and beautify the doggies.  We're all ready!  Well, I am and Annie's ok with it.  Mickie would rather not!

It's still chilly here...down in the 40s overnight and only up into the 70s during the day.  I refuse to turn the heat back on so I've had to dig out the sweat pants and sweat shirts.  But I guess I'm saving on the A/C too.  I've only had it on 1 day so far and that's unusual for June.

I hope you all have a lovely day!

Jane, yesterday the temperature in my condo was 69 degrees and that was too cool so I did turn on the heat - in June yet.  Today is more normal and outside we will go up to 85 degrees so I'll let nature heat both places.

My windows were washed yesterday so we can see out again (they weren't that bad).  Being Thursday, the lawn guys are here.  This place looks like a million dollars when the are done; they do a good job and we've had them for years.

I am over recuperating from my trip to Indps and should do something productive.  Whether I do or not is debatable.  I'm like June and let my body dictate my actions.  I think my brain enters in there somewhere, too.

I woke up at 6 a.m. as my nurse came in with the thyroid pill, nitro patch three more meds to take with food later, and a refill on my breathing machine.....what a life !!!!But I am thankful to be here and able to complain. I plan to take the day off though. I am rarely this tired in the morning, so I will let the body rule.

Good afternoon,

Didn't wake up until 8:45 this morning - probably because it looked like "dark-thirty" outside!  No storms - just heavy constant rain.  2 1/2 inches in my rain gauge - most fell between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.

I'm glad I tended to my bird feeders last evening!!!

I have plenty of food and plenty of e-books to read so am very content to stay in and stay dry.  (Also have some desk work that "could" be done.   We shall see....   ::) )

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Goodnight Janie, and all the rest of you loving friends. I did as I intended....stayed home all day, didn't even go down to check my mail,as I never got dressed in "walking" clothes. I did take off my nightgown long enough to  take a shower tonight. Now it is time to wish you a a God Blessed night, and I close with Love, Hugs and Prayers. June

Good morning everyone..

Think this is going to be a hot one with little or no wind to help out. We have to take the garbage away and pick up hubby's blister packs then home to split kindling. The neighbour had some cedar logs cut up and he split them but now we need to split them finer for kindling.

Hubby got the loaner remote for his hearing aids and I did a bit of grocery shopping at Freshco...then headed home.

June, there are days when one just loves to relax and enjoy .

Jane, you know what time it is and soon the cherries will be in and I am going to can more than what I did last year!! Plus peaches a lot more of those they turned out really good.

Lloyd, hope your internet behaves and we get to see more of you on here.

Callie, I had to smile at the "could be done" I too have work like that and maybe it might get done :)

Gloria, I hope the sun shines making the damp weather disappear .Hope your back is better today.

Mary Ann. there are times my body tells my brain to be quiet  until I feel like doing something.....tug of war at times :)

Larry, we pay 2.49 a doz for eggs here ,they may come on sale for 1.99 but not too often.

Better go get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

And now here I am again!  Just like a bad penny, I keep turning up!  I wish you all a good morning and a happy day to follow it.

I'll be off to WM at 10 to greet my public.  Wish me smiles.  They do make the day go better.  I have some errands to do after work but I'll come home and see to the doggies needs, have a sandwich and then (hopefully) have enough energy to do the errands.

Tomorrow...sometime...I'll be taking off to drive to my sister's to spend the weekend.  My grandniece, Bethany graduated high school this year and her parents are having a celebration in her honor on Sunday.  I didn't know if I wanted to make this trip but I decided I can do it one more time.  I'm not so sure about my ancient car!  But it seems to be doing OK.  If you think about it on Saturday and on Monday when I'll be on my way home, say a prayer for our safety!

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!

Note to Amy...You're way to ambitious when it comes to canning!  Enjoy!

Good morning everyone, 55°. The local forecast is for 80 by afternoon. Been quite cool this week but today no rain for a change. Overcast again now. We have had rain the last 6 week ends. Will wait and see if we have rain this one again. Still not p to posting. I will wish you all a good day and then go lay on the couch and watch the TV. Maybe doze off at times. This makes me feel like I am lazy.

Hi Everyone. It is going to be another sunny and hot day today getting into the low 90's this afternoon.  I plan on a quiet day at home to rest up for the weekend.  Pat's new iPhone 5 came yesterday afternoon and this morning I put in the SIM card and got it mostly setup.  She is now trying it out.  She held it yesterday and things it may be a fine size for her to hold and  to carry in her pocket.

Gloria, I was happy to see you check in yesterday.  Glad you can find some comfort on your couch.  Pat finds comfort in her easy chair and can change positions with the power button.  Doing what you have to do in staying on your couch isn't being lazy in my book but just taking care of yourself.

June, I can relate to a tiredness when just moving our body around and having to force ourselves to do things we normally do without thinking is a bit difficult.

Callie, I saw pictures on the news last night about flooding in Oklahoma City.  I hope your area was OK.  The ebooks are very enjoyable as are the audiobooks.  I have now listened to and read a lot of them.

Lloyd, it looks like you were back in business on the computer yesterday.

Amy, do you have a powered wood splitter or do you have to use an ax? I hope your peaches are as good as the ones we have been getting that are grown just North of us.

Jane, I am happy that you "keep showing up".  I sure hope you got some easy lines today.  Glad you are going to visit your sister and attend the celebration.  I sure hope you car behaves itself.

Sandy, I watch the same site for the Decorah eagles but I have a different link, wonder why that happens.  The birds don't look too pretty right now, but just wait!

Larry, we will be in the low 80s today and that will suit me fine.  I won't have to turn on the a/c and I can have doors open.

Well, I made it through another day and my favorite CSM was on duty today.  She seems to be the only one who remembers that I like the short lines and she does her best to see that I get them.  Today was one of those days!

I got the doggies taken care of, had my sandwich and took off to do the errands.  I finished them all and got home in record time.  I even made a connection with my son and he and my DIL and TLH are going to Bethany's party Sunday and I'm going to tag along with them so I don't have to drive and depend on an iffy car.

Supper is ready when I am.  There's one individual meat loaf left and I'm having that with tater tots and the rest of the fried radishes for my supper.  Not too bad!

Sandy, I checked out the eagles and that's pretty neat!  Thanks for sharing.

Lots of smiles in my lines today plus 2 old friends that I haven't seen in a while.  Good day!

Hope you all had a good one, too!

I am just up from another long nap, about 2 and a half hours. and I mean my naps are like I have gone unconcious. They are working in the apt. across the hall.....sounds like they may be installing a kitchenette, and I sleep through all the noise.

Larry you are the most encouraging man. When we gripe about all our "resting", you make it sound like the wise thing to do. I thank you for your kind words. Makes us sound normal in caring for ourselves.

I did get my body in gear today. I wanted to go to the Red Hat singing group, so got downstairs on time, only to fine our "coach" is still ill, so no singing. I attended a program on big screen instead....showing the big cities in Austria.......huge old beautiful buildings..lot of statues on the outer walls.

Then it was time for lunch, so I forced myself down to eat.....sooooooo sleepy ! But I forced myself down and ate, then home to plop down and go unconcious.  And now I am here boring the rest of you.

It turned hot....mid eighties...so the A/C is doing it's cooling.

Now that I am concious again, I will put on some shoes and go out for a walk. If it is too warm for comfort I will  pop into the club house and see what is going on. So, I'll see y'all later. Hugs !

It is really late, but I just wanted to stop in to make sure all is well here in our SS.

It was a HOT one here in the Mile High City, and they are projecting it to be even hotter tomorrow!  It is making everyone very concerned due to the chance of forest fires!

Tonight we met our new daughter-in-laws parents for dinner.  It was good to get together and chat about all the new stuff going on in our children’s life.  Mark and Megan flew to Hawaii today for a couple of days.  There may be some news to follow but right now we are just laying low.

I bet Shirley and her sons have enjoyed a nice week here.  The temps have be very nice in the mountains.

I really must get to bed.......PLEASANT DREAMS TO ALL!

Good morning everyone. I also enjoyed the eagle once again . I in the past had
a clip of the eagles that told how old they got and how they would bang there beak until they broke it off and then grow a new one . and we think we have a
tough way of life. and as far as eye sight even with glasses I have a hard time
focusing. have a great day everyone. another hot one. already 73º and heading for the upper 90 again. this heat is killing me. not near as tough as i was in my younger day's. I worked over  forge working hot iron sharpening plow shares and making horse shoes well over 100º. a now passed on friend older than me used to say good old days heck, only thing about them was I had a strong back and a weak mined. Have a great day.

Good morning everyone 58°, feel a little better this am. For the first time in 6 weeks we will  have a dry week end and lower humidity. Thank you God. The yearly Air Show is going on this week end. Good weather for it. Some years it has rained or been cloudy. The Blue Angels are back after a couple of years of not performing here.

LARRY  my couch is comfortable. I did doze on and off most of the day.

JANE  glad you will no thave to drive to your sister's this week end. I never heard of fried radishes. Do you slice them or what? I do like radishes.

LLOYD  I am so happy you are back on line. Wish I could have shared some of the rain we have had here the last 6 weeks.

JUNE  you are never boring. Glad you did get out of your apartment for awhile.

AMY   my daughter will be doing her laundry today, too.

Time to go have breakfast. I am actually hungry.

They are such a joy.    And yet,  I do know

year we lost the Father.   But do see

doesn't let any males come near
her nest.      What a protective Mommy!

Sandy, thanks for mentioning the Decorah site.  I didn't know about it and will add it to my list of cams.  For several years, I have been hooked on the DC Arboretum cam (Mr P and TFL) and the NEFL (Romeo and Juliet).  This year I also started watching the Smoky Mountain cam until the babies were moved to a Hack Tower because of the fish being brought in had fish hooks and fishing line in them.

Between the eagles, the Duluth cams and a couple of others, I spend entirely too much time watching them all ;D.

Thanks again.

Hi Everyone.  It is another bright and clear morning but headed into the low 90s this afternoon.  My morning kitchen chores are done and have fixed Pat's breakfast.  I plan on attending a meeting this morning and then stopping at Aldi's for just a few items.  I may pick up something to bring home for our main meal today but Pat hasn't decided yet whether that is what she wants to do.  Plan to rest this afternoon and watch some golf and that is my planned day.  I did spend an hour or so trying to help my SIL with her Cricut craft machine without any luck.  I use a program called Teamviewer that allows me to have access to her computer.  She called later to say she had gotten on the phone with the Cricut tech and after working for an hour with her with no success they said they will send her a new machine as there is something wrong with the one she has.  I guess that explains why we had no success when I was trying to help her.

Jane, glad you had a pleasant day at work with the shorter lines.  Sure glad you are not going to have to make the drive to Bethany's party but are going to be able to so with your son and family and it will save the miles on your car as well as make the trip more enjoyable having someone else in the car with you. Hope you can have a restful day today.

Lloyd, it must be a nightmare for the cable companies or any utility company when one of their lines or cables are accidentally cut by a contractor.  Glad to see you are back in business.  I well remember how hot it gets in Missouri and having to be in the barn with the cows at milking time or going into the shop that Dad had.  Also being out in the fields in the blazing sun.  That was the days before cabs on tractors with AC and the only protection from the sun was to wear a hat.

Gloria, glad to see today finds you feeling better.  Are you able to see any of the air show from your apartment window?  I don't recall ever going to an air show or seeing the Blue Angels other than on TV.  Like you I have never heard of friend radishes either and that struck my eye in Jane's posting.

Sandy, it sounds like you keep a close eye on the eagles.  I just now clicked on the link you provided and will take a look.  I may be missing out by not checking out some of the webcams that you and others visit.  Hope you have a nice weekend.

Mary, it sounds like you really enjoy the webcams.

June, if we don't take care of ourselves it isn't reasonable that someone else will be able to do so.  However, we do have to know our limits.  Too bad the Red Hat singing group couldn't meet yesterday and do some singing.  It sounds like you had a pretty full day of activities yesterday.

Jenny, I can understand your concern about the fires in Colorado or any of the other States that are so dry.  Is your area subject to a wild fire?  Nice you have now met Megan's parents.  You have left us guessing again as to what the news maybe.

Amy, does the cedar wood split easily.  I don't recall us ever using cedar for our wood stove but I know the wood we used wasn't easy to split.  Dad finally got a log splitter and that sure helped with that job.

Message about  Ionizing Air Purifers...

For years I have been using an ionzer air purifier...
I also for year have had a cough that has got
progressivly worse.    Although my lungs are clear
(had an xray )..
But came across this information when I decided
to get me a new air purifier:

https://www.livestrong.com/article/108499-breathing-ionizer-dangers/

So I unplugged my ionizing air purifier and replace it with
2 smaller HEPA air purifiers...     I keep one next to my bed
and one next to my desk,  where I spend my days on the
computer/tv  etc.

Immediately my coughing slowed right down and now I only
have to use an inhaler for my slight asthma condition....
What ever cough I have left is a productive cough versus
the dry cough that I have suffered from,  for years.

I can not believe that I went all these years using
the wrong type of air purifier....

So I thought that I would mention this, just in case others
might have similiar issues  as I have had.

I prided my self on doing a lot of research before trying
something,  but some how I missed the warning that
are out about ionizing air purifiers.  Probably what
happened was,  when I first started using it,  they didn't
talk about
the  problems...   but now of course,  they do.

No problem using the hepa type.   Except some air
purifiers are using ionizers along with hepa filters.

But not mine,  any longer!
I just bought these two Levoits:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076X2FJ5X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And they are awesome!

To those who asked about the fried radishes....I ran across a recipe for them somewhere and I really prefer them over raw ones.  With adjustments to the recipe, this what I do.  I clean and slice the radishes about the thickness I would potatoes to fry.  Then I put some non-stick in the frying pan and a bit of butter (they used olive oil)  salt and pepper and whatever other spices I feel like.  Fry them until they are semi soft over medium heat and enjoy.

Cathy called and we went to the Amish store this morning.  I had a hoagie for my lunch and got some good bargains. They had the colored canning lids that I like for less than half what I paid for them last year at WM so I bought 4 boxes.  They also had the sweet chili carrots for 25 cents a bag again.  Got a couple of those.  I also treated myself to a bag of gummi bears.

Came home and put everything away and made dog food, ate my hoagie and here I am.

I hope you are all having a lovely day!

It is Saturday, correct ? Well, I am giving myself a Holiday. II was awakened at six for the usual nursing stuff, then turned over and went back to sleep till 7:30. So far my Holiday consists of still sitting here in my nightgown. I did my usual breathing machine, prayer time, (didn't understand todays page at all.) I am reading the book Dori gave me at Christmas time, titled Daily with the King.366 daily devotions, by . W. Glyn Evans, deceased.but that's O.K.,I don't have to understand everything.

Then, I felt like singing. Got out a folder where I have saved favorite songs (just the words) down through the years, and they brought so many happy memories. I sang for about an hour till my vocal chords told me to shut up. So here I am. A/C needed at onlly 81 degees, but being on the top floor of a flat roofed building it gets hot early. I have not the slightest idea of how I will spend the day, but I will pull a t.v. dinner out of the fridge....just do not feel very "social" today.

I may go down t 6:30 to hear a new entertainer. His moniker is Raza, his music is called "Blue Angel" music. He covers music from the 1930's and 1960's. Plays guitar, and says to bring our dancing shoes. I am saying mentally, "June, act your age".  Maybe.......

Right down I must get ready to face the hallway walkers to get to the lobby a few doors down the hall where we may use the large refigerator/freezer for our dinners. See you later. June

Good afternoon, sunny about middle 70's now. think I will go out on the deck and read.

Amy, when you mention axe, I remember I  help cut the wood for the stove.  One of the saws was a two man saw, and I would have to help. When we used the coal stove, I would have to get the ashes out of the fire box take them out side to the sifter and shake them in the driveway. and kids think they have it hard to day. I just knew that was my job.  Also did not get and allowance :)

June, Austria is a very beautiful country. I have been there a couple of times.  My DIL is from Austria, but German by birth, as the hospital

she was born in was on the German boarder Berkhousen

Gloria I am glad you are feeling better. My feet swell when the humidity is high. I can no watch and air show anymore,as I saw a plane crash.

On one of our trips west with the Girl Scouts we spent one night near Cheyenne at a Girl Scout camp and since it was also the celebration of Cheyenne Frontier Days, we went there for the parade.  Some of the kids were grabbed to participate in the parade and in the morning, when we went to the outdoor breakfast, we got to the cash register and were told that since we had volunteered to be ushers with the local Girl Scouts at the rodeo, our breakfast was free.

We not only ushered, they made sure that the kids saw as much of the rodeo as they could and then at the intermission, they took us back under the stands and introduced us to cowboys, cowgirls and lots of cattle and horses!

At the end of the rodeo, the Blue Angels did a show over the stands and we were duly impressed.  That evening, we had supper in the dining room where the rodeo participants and staff eat and we got to meet a whole bunch of Blue Angels.  I don't think any of us slept too well that night!  When we volunteered to help with the ushering, we thought we did it to help and to see the rodeo free.  We got a lot more than we bargained for.

Also, that night there was a concert in the arena and while we were waiting in line to buy our tickets, someone from the staff saw us and took us around the corner and under the stands to ringside seats.  The only one I can remember in the concert was Charlie Pride and he's always been one of my favorites.  What a great time we had.

But seeing the Blue Angels and meeting them face to face was great!

What a lovely day!!! Laundry dried in no time and it is now all put away. Planted my citronella and Morning Glories ,fertilized and watered the flower garden . Just took some pie over to the neighbour and clipped their dogs nails ,now to do these girls but not today.

Jane, I am going to try the fried radish, may go get some seeds to plant a few also. What a fantastic time you had at the rodeo, memories for those girls and you to last a life time.

Gloria de ,we put our ashes in a barrel and then take that to the dump. I really don't want the dogs to walk or track in ashes as you know it is really messy to clean up!

Time to relax :)

I had a nice quiet day at home. Had to turn on the  A/C a couple of times. My Apt is small so it cools off in a hurry. I had a big lunch at home, a Healthy Choice frozen fish dinner, so I'll eat a light supper then go down for the program.

Hi Mycheal, always a treat to have you pop in on us. I have never seen a real eagle, to the best of my knowledge. I'm sure we had them in Mn., but my family wasn't in to bird watching unfortunately. Seems like my whole childhood was  my parents working hard enough to put food on the table. We just grew.

Beautiful morning here, very warm too for a change !, had a great surprise this morning !, just looking around on my TV and I found on 'You Tube' a live broadcast from Missouri !, so I sent Lloyd a Email telling him 'to get down to the Railway Crossing' and give a wave ! lol, I just put into search,> La Plata Missouri USA--virtual railfan.<
I must admit my ignorance of La Plata, I have never heard of it or, even where abouts it is in Missouri, now I shall spend the rest of the morning researching its history, as it is a live broadcast and as the day progresses, perhaps I may even get to see something of Lloyd !, I am not a Railway fan but, it will be interesting to see (perhaps something going on) what a Sunday is like in La Plata !.
More armchair Travelling !.   Cheers. Peter.  AKA ROLEY.

Another awesome day in the making here. A day of rest here too!

Roley/Peter, great seeing you here.....yes you watch our friend Lloyd, make sure he behaves..I know a tall order for that gentleman.

Jane, everyone that I have shared a jar of peaches with really enjoys the fresh taste of them.

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi Everyone.  Today is to be a carbon copy of yesterday weather wise with it being hot into the 90's this afternoon and a slight chance of rain. Pat left me a note to wake her at 7:30, which I did, as she wants to go to Church this morning.  I will go to Sunday School and then come back to the house to pick her up so we can go back to Church.  It is just too much for her to sit through both of these. I did make it to my meeting yesterday, but decided I could wait awhile longer before going to Aldi's.  On the way home I stopped at Wifesaver's and got us each a delicious chicken dinner and this time added a small banana pudding for Pat and a piece of Lemon pie for me, which I had last evening.  We will be eating somewhere after Church this morning before we come home.  The rest of the day will be spent quietly.

Jane, thanks for the info on the fried radishes.  They don't sounds like my cup of tea.  I don't think I have ever seen colored canning lids.  Glad you got a bargain on them at the Amish store.

June, hope you enjoyed your casual Saturday.  I don't think I could sing for an hour anymore as my voice is about shot when I finish leading the two hymns we sing at Sunday School and sometimes have to drop out a verse or so during Church.  Now why do you "want to act your age"  :).  Glad you felt up to attending the evening program.

deAngel, nice weather up your way.  Like you I never got an allowance working on the farm but my mother could usually come up with a nickle for a treat when we would go to town and I was provided some spending money when I lived at home and attended college plus didn't need to take out a loan to finish the college costs like most must do today.

Jane, it sounds like you had some good experiences with your time leading the Girl Scouts.

Amy, my mother would never allow a pet into the house so we didn't have to worry about tracking the ashes from the stove.  I think we just put them into an ash pile but again that memory has faded.  It sounds like you are going to have a nice garden.  That loam soil is great for gardening.

Mycheal, I watched the eaglets for a few minutes in one of the cams from the link and wow are the loud.  They didn't like it one bit when mother flew off and left them alone.

Roley, I grew up in Missouri and also lived there for nine years of my married/work life.  I have never heard of La Plata.  Missouri is a really large State.  I just looked it up and it is a long ways from where Lloyd lives.

Lloyd, you all are going to be hotter than we are here in South Carolina.

I've been to church and I'm ready to leave for my grandniece's graduation party.  I have a couple hours to wait.

The talk of a nickel for a treat reminded me of my childhood.  Our church was across the bridge in Williamsport ( we lived in South Williamsport) we got a nickel for the bus one way but if we got up and got started in time to walk over and we always walked home....right past the ice cream store...we were allowed to use the bus fare for ice cream.  What an incentive that was!  And with a sister like mine who was insistent that I HURRY, we usually had ice cream.

LARRY, you are absolutely right!  I did have some experiences with the Girl Scouts that made forever memories.  And I know that some of the girls share those memories because I have some of them through my line and we remember together.

Just thought of something I have to do before I go.  Enjoy your day!

Good morning everyone 61°. Nice day yesterday and today is to be better. Good weather for the air show. Today is a RI celebration. Gaspee Day. The first fight back against  England when when we sank their revenue ship the Gaspee. That happened a year before the Boston Tea Party. Big celebration here of course and a big parade. They have a mock model of the ship Gaspee and then burn it in the harbor.

LARRY  I live as far from the airshow as can be and still live in this state. Quonset Point is at the shore. Quonset used to be a navy base and the Seabees were trained there, too. The planes mostly fly over the water. If I remember right I think it was JUNE that said she likes radish sandwiches.

JANE  those fried radises sound easy and tasty. Thanks.

GLORIA de  I have never seen the airshow. I would hate to see a plane crash. Then again I woud not like being in that crowd of people.

JANE  that time at the Cheyenne Frontier days is one all of your girl scouts and you will always remember with pleasure.

ROLEY/PETER  I have been an arm char traveler since I first got a computer. I still like seeing other places and enjoy seeing what other countries are like. Mostly I like looking at different placed here in the USA. Best way to  travel.

AMY  years ago when I did a lot of canning every thing tasted so good through the old winter months.

LLOYD  we ar e not supposed to get into the 70's today.Low humidity and great temperatures here at last.

Have a good day.

Good Sunday morning.  I have not been here for a few days, but still have read some of the messages.

Jane, I am sure you will have a nice time at the graduation.  Hope it isn't a long, drawn-out one. Some of the ones from the larger schools can last a long time.   I remember my oldest son graduated from a very large high-school, and the ceremony was held at a big convention center  and just went on and on and on.  I think the ones that are held in the school itself, are so much more meaningful.  Our two other sons went to a Catholic high school and those graduations are usually held in the church.  Usually a lot smaller group and more meaningful.

It is supposed to be a very rainy afternoon.  The pine trees outside my window are starting to really blow hard.  Hope it doesn't turn into a bad storm.  Yesterday, down on the Eastern Shore, it rained so hard, that so many of the roads had to be closed because of flooding.  Not a very good day to be at the beach.  The past 3 or 4 weekends have been rainy.  It is a shame when there are so many nice activities going on outside.

Jane, I had never heard of fried radishes.  I do like radishes in a salad, but just never think to buy them.  But, I am going to try your fried ones.  I like to try something new.  Might not try it again, but at least, I want to say that I have had them.  Something unusual and different.  Will have to google them and see what comes up.

We had a kind of a Strawberry festival on Friday,, here where I live.  There wasn't many who had signed up for it, but it did turn out better than I had thought. I guess there were about 15 or 16 people show up and a lot of good strawberry desserts.  By the time we all tasted a little of each one, we were all "strawberried out".  We have a new activity girl and she is trying hard to come up with some different activities.  She was really pleased with all the different things that people had brought.   Wasn't many left-overs.

I was up a little after 4 a.m. and wasn't able to get back to sleep.  Tried to go back to sleep in my recliner, but that didn't happen.  So, I am sure a nap will be forth-coming sometime later today.

Hope everyone will have a nice day.

Joy

I'm back!  I'm tired!  I have not read the past posts but a nap is necessary so will do that first.  Lloyd, sounds good... I did a simple type meal out camping, had "my boys" grill about 20 thick boneless pork chops (from Sam's Club-home) , I added 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup & can of water.... salt & lots of coarse black pepper & put the chops in to simmer. while I saute'ed an onion in a chunk of butter in a deep skillet on the gas stove, drained most juice of a couple cans of green beans & dumped in over the onions & simmered until water was gone... fixed mashed potatoes & each had a big tub of Musselman's applesauce... it went over well.  I like the instant mashed potatoes using a cup of water & cup of milk... creamier & add a nice chunk of real butter. The boys love a fire & grilling so I worked in the veggies & fruit. (Mothers never quit mothering). Because the chops were so thick we had plenty to send the camp hosts, we've visited with them for years & know the lady loves a "different" meal.... it is a National Forest campground & the hosts are always nice, this couple special.

Jenny, it was hot & dry where we were and the pollen from the pine trees left a layer of yellow over everything... but it was still absolutely gorgeous with nights in the 40s and days in the 70s (up high) but 80s "in town".  I really didn't do much walking, the oxygen level stayed the same except when I took a whiff of pure canned oxygen... that brought it up 3 points!!  It stayed about 80 the whole time so not a real worry.

And now those zzzzzzzzzzs are pulling me over to the bed.  Talk later, Shirley

So good to read your post, SHIRLEY.  I have been thinking about you the entire time you have been gone.  I hoped you were doing well and enjoying your time here in CO with your boys!  I am sorry you had to deal with the darn pine tree pollen.....it has been awful here at our house as well.  Your food sounded perfect and glad that everyone enjoyed their time.

There is a concerning post on Face Book tonight under Don Reid’s name.  I hope and pray no one is jumping to conclusions, but it states, “May his memory be a blessing to you and all who love him.”
🙏🙏

LARRY, I appreciate that you read everyone’s posts and never miss a thing.  Yes, there is something in the works and I will hopefully be able to reveal the out come very soon.  We are just holding good thoughts and saying prayers that how ever it turns out it is meant to have.  It is nothing bad, I am very happy to be able to say.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening last night at Dr. Dave’s.  They had a food truck for 50 people at there home.  It was a Mac and Cheese truck and the food was amazing.  I had lobster Mac and Cheese and it was delicious.  They had all kinds of items you could add on to the Mac and cheese, like Bacon, jalapeños, and so much more.  They had burgers, chicken and fries also.  Another friend went in with Dave on this when they bought it at a school function to raise money for the kiddos school.  After dinner Dave brought out a out door screen and showed a movie.  It was for all ages.

JANE, you know I always smile when you go to the Amish Store.  I have never heard of fried radishes either...I will have to give it a try as I love radishes.  I so enjoyed your telling about the Girl Scouts adventure in Cheyenne. A memory that none of you will ever forget.

GLORIA, I am happy to read you are feeling a bit better.  I ho0e you continue to feel better.

I hope EVERYFRIEND enjoyed a nice weekend.

Shirley, sounds like you had a great time away, we missed your posts! The meal sounds mouth watering and one I am going to try (in smaller measures :) )

Jane, I picked up some radish seeds and planted a wee bit yesterday, I would like to try fried radish.

Jenny, I wiped our picnic table off yesterday as it was coated with yellow pine pollen.....hope it soon stops!

June, hope today puts a song in your heart .

Joy your strawberry festival sounded delicious, my what a choice you had. Our strawberries here are not ready yet.

Gloria,we waited for warmer weather and now wish it would cool off some. Golden girl really feels the heat now.

Larry, is that a restaurant,t that is called Wifesaver?

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone.

G'morning Gloria, Glad you also go 'Armchair Walking' lol,  a great idea for some of us 'Oldies' :), I did not have to travel very far this time to find this very interesting item, it's just a few miles from where we live !, I have also passed the details along to Lloyd, perhaps you also would like to have a look at this little piece of History too ?, put this into google search >> Walking in England. The blue idol Quaker meeting house.youtube. <<  I hope you also find it interesting ?.

Good morning Everyfriend!  I got home about 8 last night and I was really tired.  After some time with the doggies I fell asleep on the couch and since I was already in my jammies, I decided to go to bed around 10.  We got up early and here I am.

The Graduation party was nice.  A boy who has been friends with the kids almost since birth was in Bethany's class and he lives on the same street so they decided to have a joint celebration.  They had 3 tents and lots of food and camaraderie.  Bethany didn't sit still for a minute!  But we all get lots of hugs and lots of "Thank you so much for coming".  Bethany's older sister, Bridget was one of the moving forces in the organization and she didn't sit still very much either.  I really love these two kids!

When you all try the fried radishes, let me know what you think!  Even if you don't like them!

I have a message from the local berry farm that they are picking this weekend.  I'm torn between the wish to go and get some strawberries and the fact that all that stooping was VERY difficult last year.  I wonder if Kiran might like to go with me?  HMMMMM?

Good morning everyone  53°. Overcast again this morning. Cool week end but at least no rain. Just heard we may have rain on Wednesday.

JOY  we had 6 week ends in a row of rain. I saw a notice here yesterday that the price on the washers abd dryers are going up to $2.25 a load. In the 4 years I have lived here it has gone up from $1.25.

LLOYD  glad you felt good enough to make your noon meal. Hope that means your leg is starting to feel better.

SHIRLEY  glad you made it home safely.  Wonderful that you can go camping and your "boys" are there with you.

JENNY  I do feel better, thanks. Even waking hungry in the morning the last few days. Maybe my appetite is returning?

AMY  there is yellow pollen on every thing here.

PETER  So far I have been to all the USA states online. This area of the country has a lot of history, too. Will check out the Walking England. Thanks.

JANE  Been years since I picked strawberries. The farm I like also puts some in pint and quart baskets and those are what I buy. Same with their blueberries. Tell TLH that she can eat at least 1 berry from each olant to make sure they taste good and she will help you pick all you want?

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  It is a bright and sunny morning here in South Carolina but we have good chances of storms this afternoon.  Last evening we had a big electrical storm but we didn't get much rain from it.  Pat did go to Church with me yesterday and after the service we went through the drive thru at Arby's and got big sandwiches to bring home for our Sunday main meal.  Nothing is on the schedule or today so hope to finish up the audiobook I am listening to.  I had put one on hold and it became available and was added to my loans several days ago so the clock is ticking on it and am anxious to get to it.

Jane, it sounds like you had a good incentive to walk to Church and very smart parents.  Obviously your sister liked ice cream and probably still does.  That sounded like a nice celebration.  Can you purchase the strawberries already picked? The big strawberry farm here has pickers who come each year and then they sell them at their market and several salivate tent markets they open for about three months.  Kiran might think it is a great adventure to pick the berries for you.

Gloria, I have never heard of the Gaspee Day celebration.  Glad you added the explanation.  I thought maybe you lived near where the air show was to occur.  I would think it would be safer for the spectators as well as the pilots to perform over water. There are so many great websites showing pictures of our great and beautiful country as well as the beauty of other countries. I guess your apartment has pretty much a captive audience for the washer and dryers.  That seems like a large increase in price in just 4 years.

Lloyd, that jalapeno pepper must make your dinner dish pretty spicy.  However it does sound good and rich.

Shirley, welcome back and it sounds like you had a very nice week in the mountains and ate well.  Hope you got a good nights sleep last night.  Did the cats enjoy the trip?

Sandy,  I checked on the eagles this morning and they were still resting.  I looked at a couple of the other cams with the eagles and other birds.  Those little ones are still very chirpy and loud.

Jenny, we are well past the pine pollen stage here in our area and it didn't seem too bad this year.  Glad your anticipated news will be good when you can share it with us.  I have never heard of a food truck coming to a home for a big party but sounds like a good idea and glad the food was tasty.

Amy, sounds like a wise decision to leave your dogs in the house where it is cool.  Do they want to go with you when you leave?  Yes, Wifesaver's is a local place where you can eat in or take out and they have two or three other locations over in Augusta, across the river.  It had been awhile since we had Wifesaver's and have never been disappointed in the food.

Roley, that does sound like an interesting place you mentioned for "Walking in England" and the "Old Quaker meeting house"

Hello again Larry and Gloria. Well I have spent several minutes looking at the La Plata station (live transmission) from Missouri, fantastic !, the first thing I noticed was a small group of youngish men women standing talking, waiting for a train perhaps ?, the men all had backpacks, the ladies all wearing long floral dresses and had little old fashioned 'mop bonnets' on the back of their heads, would they be some of the Amish people that Lloyd talks about ?, I have only ever seen these people in photographs before, so to see this today live from America is for me quite exciting, as I say, fantastic, wish I could stay and watch more !, hope Lloyd reads this too ! ..

I have absolutely NOTHING to bring to the  soda shoppe conversation today. I am very thankful that our girl mechanic got my t.v. up and running. It was down for nearly four days.....she is a whiz at electronic equipment, and so sweet and loving. Her husband works here too..he is installing a kitchenette in the Apt. across the hall from me. People love working here. One lady retired from the Laundry room after 43 years.

And I love living here. I feel so cared for..sincerely cared for, not false love.

Just like all of us here on Srs. and Friends. A rare gift from God.

Roley, I am going back now and check into Quaker news. So good that you are feeling well enough to post. I pray you continue in good health.

Time to have a light supper at home, then a nice cool shower, and an early bedtime with an interesting book to keep me company. Hugs, Love, and Gods' Best Blessings. June

I have been out and about with my life friend, Patti today.  We went to breakfast, shopped, visited, had dinner and now she gone.  She will drive back to her home in Rock Springs WY tomorrow.  It was great to catch up.

SANDY, I just saw your post, so thank you for sharing this great news with everyone too.

Good morning Everyfriend!  And a special GOOD MORNING to you LLOYD!

I also slept better last night than I have in a while.  Must have been the night for it!

I'll be off to WM this morning to greet my public.  Wish me smiles and short lines.  Thank you very much.

It was 50º here when I got up this morning and we are only supposed to get into the low 70s today.  Gonna be my kinda day today!  I still have some weeds to pull around the Rose of Sharon bushes.  Maybe I can finish that today.  I find my work span is much shorter these days than it used to be.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend.  Make of it whatever you wish it to be.  Make it your own!

Hi Everyone.  It looks like today we will finally get a little break in the temperature as it is suppose to only get into the mid-80's with only a slight chance of rain.  Once again yesterday there was rain around us but we didn't get any unless it rained a bit during the night when I was asleep.  We plan on going to Ruby Tuesdays today to take advantage of their $5 salad bar day.  It is usually $10.  Pat placed a big online order with Walmart that we will pick up on the way back home as Walmart is just up the hill from where Ruby Tuesdays is located.  Other than that it should be a quiet day.  I need to order Pat some ink for her printer and a different iPhone Charger as the one that came with her phone appears to be defective.  I also need to get a charger for the car for the iPhones.

Good morning to Roley and to Lloyd.  I know there are Amish communities in Missouri and perhaps Lloyd will be able to provide more info on this.  Lloyd, good to stay in where it is cool when it gets so hot in Missouri or anywhere. Glad to see you got some rain and that you had a good night last night.

Carol, just stay with the learning with the new laptop.  Feel free to contact me if I can be an any assistance.  Windows 10 can be a bit confusing but you can still set shortcuts on to your desktop to the sites you visit most and just have to click the Windows Key and the "D" key at the same time to get to the Desktop to use the shortcuts.  I don't use the little Windows 10 placards except for to use applications from the Windows Store.

Sandy, thanks for sharing the posting from Don.  I was certainly concerned and was going to try to check further today.  Don, thanks for checking in and giving us the assurance that you are OK even if you are jet lagged.

June, you are so fortunate to live in a place where the employees and the tenants are happy.  It sounds like a great place to live and work.

Jenny, it is a joy to be able to spend time with old friends and glad that Patti came to visit and spend time with you.

Jane, I bet your public will be glad to see you.  I know I am always happy with one of the young ladies greets me at the Walmart Pharmacy and often greets me by name.  I do with you smiles and short lines today.  Getting a good nights sleep seems to help out outlook for the next day.

Amy, you are still having cool mornings.  It will be many days before we will be seeing morning temps in the 40's here.  Maybe you could hide a little while from that work that is seeking you.

I'll join the rest of you early birds about a good night sleep.... I got 6 hours & 15 min, best in a long time but enough to make me wish for a jump back in bed to get a couple more hours.  Fed cats & me, turned on sprinklers in the front yard (an hour each side to go deep enough to help).  The wind & lack of rain makes everything look like late August.  Poor Durango area of CO really suffering.

Amy, your 44 degrees sounds like heaven........think I heard it is about 80 (yuck) to wake up here. Hope all is well in your world.

Jane, reading back over talk while I was gone (didn't take notes) & had to giggle at how much we are alike.... only my 5¢ for bus ride got me a big red delicious apple at the Safeway store on my route to walk home!  I still love them but sure don't find for that price or that size!

Larry, first time neither cat "tossed their cookies" on a trip!  Couple times Tom got all nervous & I had to make him think of something else... he really is a head case!  Saw no deer in the campground this year... only one ground squirrel or gopher or what ever lives in that area, but lots & lots of hummingbirds.  Had 3 feeders going & found a 4th (Pete bought 2 last year) that we filled to put on Andy's campsite & those tiny birds kept it drained constantly.  One of the feeders had suction cups to put on the window by the bed where the cats were inches from them.... birds didn't care & cats only slight interest. No rain the whole week, very dry, first time ever we didn't have those afternoon showers.  By the way, any suggestion on how to connect my new computer to my house wi-fi when I can't come up with the security password?  I have tried every password I every used for anything but can not connect.... was no problem with connecting the iPhone because the iPod was already in the system & they auto connected.  Boo hoo, can't even do updates on the new one..... it is called the Jaguar laptop... 1 TB...etc.  & sale price of $250 at Walmart just too tempting.  Not an open box or anything... touch screen & all, my son has one like it without touch screen.  BUT, can't play with it until I solve this problem.

Gloria, first time I did not walk down to the creek behind our campsites .... not a real problem with altitude (oxygen level stayed about 80%), but just too tired from weeks of work going on around the house.  This bigger rig won't fit into my favorite site where I could jump out every change of daylight, to take photos of the water bouncing over granite rocks.... I have years of photos to paint from but such a yummy sight I want more.  I know you would love that view & sound of the water.

Lloyd, glad you are giving in to this heat.... Got to tell you that I still think you would be better off with a new pick up pulling a big camper (NOT a 5th wheel).... so you could run around after setting up camp.  If my son wasn't along with his car & camper I would be stuck at the campsite until ready to come home.  I don't want to pull my car & even think about trying to back up with it hooked on back ...... I can put the back end of that RV right on the spot to back into a site (kind of impressed my boys)... but my brain does not work to back a car or little trailer behind.  Since the campsites in CO don't have electricity I made good use of the generator this time.  Surprising how little gas it takes to run, but still hate that noise. Nice that the frig & freezer operates on propane & hardly makes a dent in the tank for a whole week... staying on when traveling back & forth so never run out of ice or cold water!  I started my camping in a little fold out Applebee camper with nothing but a bed on each side of fold out... all cooking outside on the picnic table & treks through the trees to the "outhouse".  I loved every stage of living in the woods but do appreciate the latest luxuries at this age.

Jenny, so sorry I didn't even get to call you, we were in such a rush when we went into town where we could get cell signal, but so busy shopping or eating, I didn't even call neighbors to see if my house was still standing!  I wanted to show you the advantages of the newer RV with slide out.... totally different type camping but still loved the old Rialta for the driving part!

Guess I'd better get busy, either dress or go back to bed (know some of you are grinning 'cause there's other words for that expression)............  Any word about how Pat is doing?

Good morning everyone. Had to get up during the night to get a blanket, dropped to upper  40's early morning. Of course I had the window open. That disturbed sleep had me waking at almost 9 this morning.Sun is shining bright and up to 59°.

LARRY  since the burning of the Gaspee happened in RI waters in 1772, it never got much publicity like the Boston Tea Party that happened a year later. Like our Bristol 4th of July parade, the oldest continous 4th parade in our country. They paint te center lined in the street the mafk on red white and blue. Quonset Point is across the bay from Newport. Both big navy basses at one time till both were closed. This state id left with no military protection if we wer e invaded from the ocean. People were very worried when they were closed. The Naval college is still in Newport. We are the smallest state but still has a lot of history.

SHIRLEY  my daughter has finally started a new painting. One of the cacti in bloom. She said rhis time whe is not putting a lot of detail in like all the others she has done.

This has been a crazy day here. My son was here most of the morning and then my CNA came. She just left and now I will go have my lunch at last.

What a happy way to start the day..most of our "family" is up and posting, and well enough to face the day. My day started the usual way.....happily. I am so thankful.

We will have a high of 82 today. Not much going on. I did go down for the early exercise class.....nothing I would care to join. It is led by folks on the t.v. I think I do better right here at home in my apt. every morning.

I'm going to visit our clinic at 1;30 to have one of the nurses exam my right foot. It is so painful, I am wearing a special soft slipper with solid sole on that foot. It feels like a bone is trying to break through the flesh on the ball of my foot and walking is something I MUST do for the rest of the body.

There is a new program started, "the walking club" this is the first day and unfortunately the time is the same as my nurse appt.

Larry, you are so right...I am SO blessed to live in a place like this. I can't believe it my self. The girl spent over about an hour with me, getting the T.V. to behave, and it works better than the day it was installed.

It will soon be time to go down for lunch. I think I'll order from the right hand page of the menu....I have a  taste for a bacon and tomato sandwich.I broke a tooth on the last one i had so I will have to be cautious in biting into it.
Age certainly introduces new manners of eating, and well as showering....so cautious now. But we live, so we will rejoice. Hugs everyone ! June

Looking like rain here and it sure would be welcomed.

I slept in I was up in the night with the girls, Golden Girl is having trouble with her hind end and breathing, once I put the fan on her she settled down. I know our days are numbered with her.

Good morning everyone 60°. Warmer than yesterday. No sun this morning and showers are in the forecast for today. Another day like yesterday was too much to expect.

JUNE  it is wonderful all the things they do there for the tenants. All they have here is Bingo on Wednesday evening and not many attend anymore. The witch would be happy if we all just stayed in our appartments. That link opened for me and will check it out later, thanks. I love jigsaw puzzles.

JANE  by now you are already working.Hope you get the short lines.

LLOYD  looks like you had a good sleep last night, great. I might still be asleep but the landscapers are here and their loud machines sure wake one up.

AMY  we do love our fur family and hate it when we have to see them cross the Rainbow Bridge. My second son told me when he was here Saturday they had to put their dog away, he was 15 or 16 years old. You are getting like me, I never liked summer except for the fresh fruit and veggies we get.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  It will be another hot day here after a relatively cooler day yesterday.  We enjoyed the salad bar at Ruby Tuesday's yesterday and did pick up our grocery order.  This morning Pat plans on attending her Gift's Group at the Church and I will take her and go on down to the coffee group at the cafe while I wait for her.  Scott is planning on making our dinner tonight when he gets here.  It will be his specialty Taco Pie and we have plenty of salad mix to go with it.  I had to refilll my medicine boxes this morning and fix Pat's breakfast.

It is about time to take Pat to her meeting so will have to come back and read the postings here since I posted yesterday later this afternoon.

June, I was able to bring up the puzzle and I did it.  I do the puzzles on the regular site each day and I noticed Pat's site is done by members of the Christian Photographers.  A nice change of scenery.

Amy I am sorry to hear of Golden Girl's condition.  We do love our furry friends as they really are part of our families.  If we're lucky, Kendrick will outlast me and then he'll go to another family because I know Tom will not want to keep him.

We will be in the 80s all week with a couple days in the 90s.  i'll dress accordingly.

Good morning.  Just a quick stop to say "Hello"..

Nothing interesting in my neck of the woods lately.  Weather is supposed to be hot and humid today.  But,, the rest of the week, including the week-end is supposed to be nice.  About time, after 3 or 4 rainy week ends.  So many activities going on over the next few week ends.

There is a nice Farmers Market right up the street from me, at the Volunteer Fire Department , every Sat. morning in the summer.  Lots of local produce and different other food stands.  I saw some pictures from last week and several stands with local strawberries.  Everything is looks so good and fresh.  Unfortunately, it is held on the grassy areas and the grounds are so uneven, it is just too difficult for me to get around on.  I even bought a new walker with the bigger wheels........... was supposed to do well on all kinds of terrain.  But, it really is still too hard for me to get around.  I am hoping that my son will be able to stop by this week to get me some strawberries.  The  local ones are just so good and so sweet.

I have nothing exciting planned to do today.  I was awake at 4 a.m. and got on the computer for a little while, and then, did manage to go back to sleep.  Didn't wake up until almost 8  .  So, I do feel rested now.  I want to call a friend, who left me a message the other day that she had been in the hospital, so I do want to get back to her.

I hope everyone will have a good Wednesday.  Enjoy your day !!!!

Joy

Janie, " Good Morning to You ! Good Morning to You! We're all in our places, with Sunshiny faces, and this is the way, to start a new day ! " And this is my wish for you this day. Late in the day for  you….not yet nine a.m.for me.

I have had two cups of coffee and a bowl of frosted flakes with sliced banana. I sit here in my nightgown, as my un-made bed lays there giving me mean looks. I'm glad it can't talk.

Jane I'm so glad the click-able opened for you. I hope our Pat sees it. That was way back when I had my first computer…1997, and I just kept transferring stuff as the years went by.

My son will be coming at ten o'clock for bible studies, so off I go to get things ready.
See you all later. June

Amy, I'm so sorry about Golden Girl but I'm sure you will both treasure whatever time she has left to be with you!  It's so hard to watch them age!

I'm not doing anything the rest of the afternoon.  Except maybe pull a few more weeds.  And maybe take the trash to the dumpster.  Those can both be put off if I don't get around to it.

I hope you all have a lovely rest of the day!

Well for a day with nothing planned I managed to vacuum and wash all floors, clip the dogs nails a job that can be trying. Plus I got the front lawn fertilized. Phone the neighbour to tell him not to let their dog walk on it for 48 hrs and he said we were to have a storm plus hail,so I put the vehicles inside the garage. Managed to get all the skateboards done for a second quilt too! Now to put it all together.

Thank you Shirley, Mary Ann and Jane, As you know, it is not an easy job to do and one wonders if it is the "right" time. There are times she cannot get up without some help and other days she just dances to go in the vehicle! She is eating ,drinking and looking for treats .So until the time comes she will get her 1/4 tsp of turmeric, her Omega 3 capsule that I cringe when she bites it and her food. On the bright side I have only one to lift up now, hubby seems to be able to hold his own :)

Joy, I bet those strawberries are so sweet. I will pick strawberries for others to eat, cook with them to make jams and pies but I am not a fan of them. Now raspberries...I bet I can beat anyone to the bowl!!

Better go see what I can scare up for supper..

Amy, how old is your Golden Girl.  My nephew, Tom, and his family had a Golden who lived 10 years.  She was a sweetheart and she would always come to me to take her for a walk when i visited them up north.  She got arthritis and could not go up steps easily so they had to put her down.  I was broken hearted.  I hope it isn't necessary for you to do that for a lonngg time!

Hi Everyone.  Back for the second time since I didn't get the postings from yesterday read.

Shirley, red delicious apples are still my favorite and I have had a whole or part of one with my lunches for years.  The best one I ever got was a World's of Fun in Kansas City.  I had purchased season tickets for Stacey and myself and on one visit they were handing out these big, beautiful red delicious apples.  Your password for your router probably is located on the side or bottom of the router unless you set up a different one when it was installed.  There is also a reset button on the device which will put it back to factory condition. It would would be easier to call your Internet provider and ask the person to guide you through the process of getting your laptop connected to the wi-fi network as they are usually happy to help.  Pat's sister Judy posted that Pat had experience some hiccups in her hospital stay and still was in the hospital.   Pat had posted some pictures of the birthday part at the hospital some of her family had held for her and also of a special friends visit with her.  I guess the latest is that she will probably have to rehab at home.

Gloria, thanks for providing that very interesting information on the history of Rhode Island.

June, that must have been a really tough piece of bacon to break your tooth.  Sorry to read your foot is so painful.

Lloyd, my son says he really loves it when it is raining as he sleeps so well.  He likes the sounds of the rain.  I told him he could find various apps for his phone that played these rain sounds in the background for those days it isn't raining.  Since he works at night he usually sleeps mainly during the day.

Sandy, hope you had a nice morning of doing your errands with Kelly.

Roley, hope you had a nice day after enjoying the Missouri website.

Joy, the strawberries have been outstanding here this year and Pat wants me to go and get some more tomorrow along with some peaches.  I will probably do it on my way to coffee after picking up my friend or when taking him home.

Jane, it sounds like it was your lucky day today with the short lines.

Amy, for a day with nothing planned you were certainly busy and sounds like you got a lot done.

Wow ,that was some storm!! We lost power around 4 and it is still off, thank goodness for the generator!! We did lose the gazebo top cover but everything else is fine, garden is ok too. To the north they also had hail and what a nice drop in temperature....going to be great sleeping tonight.

Mary Ann, she is 13,she has been through a lot that girl, she gad cancer 2 months after my husband was diagnosed with it. I don't mind lifting her up and helping her but I do know I won't let her suffer.I also give her glucosamine ,chondroitin and MSM to help her joints.

Amy, you are far enough away from me that we did not have your storm first.  I looked at my radar and saw where it was.

I hope you can hang on to Golden Girl for a while.  I know 13 is a long time for a Golden to live; there are ailments they contract that take them early.  So 13 is a ripe old age for her.

Well, I spent most of this day alternately trying to catch a fly and cursing it's very existence.  It follows me from room to room and buzzes my ears, lands on the top of my head or my bare toes or my elbow and then takes off when I move.  I wish it was anywhere but in my house!  It's driving me crazy!

And that's been MY day!  I sure hope yours was better.  And if you have to laugh, it's OK, I understand.  I don't like it but I understand.

:tissue:  :dontknow: :roflBig:   sorry, Janie.............. mine has been one step forward & 6 back... only thing I'm proud of today is I did get the bugs off the RV but still don't have everything out (bedding & clothes) to get laundry done.  #2 son stopped by tonight to see if he could retrieve the lost password for the "secure" wi-fi ... so secure I can't get the new laptop connected. He did plug it directly into the modem so it is downloading updates.... big ones & with slow internet I am just going to check it in the morning.  I tried every password possible & it won't let me connect & with all these computer whizzes in the family, so far nobody has come up with a remedy!  Something about too many cooks spoil the ?????  You think?  #1 son (the one that designed the security system) will be home Friday night late & much to do after being gone 2 weeks, so I won't expect him to bail me out for a few days.  All the kids have been after me to get a new computer & all are more upset than I am that "we" have a problem.  A lesson in patience, right?

By the way, Jane, all the time I was washing the RV the flies were biting... stinging... like it was going to rain.  No rain but I slapped myself silly.   :crazy2:

Larry, I was born in Jefferson City where the biggest apple orchard (Stark's) grew the best red delicious apples that had 5 nubs on the bottom.  Later one of the orchards grew Grimes Golden Delicious that were big & juicy... SO good.  After moving to KS I would buy a bushel of golden delicious to make apple pies to eat & freeze.  Didn't take as much sugar to be sweet & were great to "fry" in butter & a toss of brown sugar as they turn clear... yummy with fried potatoes, yes?  After Mom got shingles so bad, Dad would wash & core a whole cookie sheet full of golden delicious apples & stuff the core with brown sugar & bake. He ate them all the time.

Time to give the cats their midnight snack, tomorrow a busy day with mowers to come & a list a mile long of "to dos".  Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.  Shirley

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Well, I haven't seen my friend the fly yet today.  He's not on my sticky flycatcher thingy so he's probably still around.  Of course, maybe SHE'S off somewhere laying eggs so one of these days, there will be a million in the house.

I'm going to pull some weeds, take the garbage to the dumpster and....whatever else comes to mind.

SHIRLEY, I hope you get your computer hooked up soon and I hope you don't have to have any more "fly battles" outside.

Hi Everyone. It is another bright and sunny day but we will be up into the 90's again this afternoon.  This is coffee morning and will pick up my friend on the way.  Either going or coming home I will stop at the Strawberry Stand and get some strawberries and peaches.  Yesterday I did take Pat for her gifts group bi-weekly meeting and while I waited I went to the cafe and spent an hour by myself.  We then stopped at Chick-fil-a for a quick lunch.  It was about 6 last evening when Scott got here and he made our dinner with the Taco Pie and we had a nice visit until after 9:30 and then really had a good nights sleep.

Amy, that sounds like it was a vicious storm.  Glad you didn't have more damage than you did have.  Did you also get hail.  Several areas right around us have had some serious storms the last few days but we have been spared.  Scott has a little dog he has had probably for 14 or 15 years and it is now blind.  He knows the days are numbered for it as well.  He does have a cat and the big dog that Jennifer got as a puppy.  His pets have been a lot of company to him since the loss of his wife.  Sure glad you have that generator so you are not without power.  Did the tornado do a lot of damage?

Jane, it sounds like that fly likes to play games with you.  Fortunately we don't see many flies around our house and have only had a couple that have gotten into the house.  That is some way to spend your day but guess it kept you moving around and getting exercise chasing it.  I see as this morning it is still alive but probably resting from all the activity you gave it yesterday.  Those little wings were probably tired.

Shirley,  sorry you are still having a problem with the new laptop getting it connected to your wi-fi.  Did you ever eat at the Stephenson's Apple Orchard Restaurant in Kansas City?  That was one of our favorite places to go for special occasions and the food was superb.  They apparently went out of business a few years ago after 60 years in business.  It was on Lee Summit Road and Hwy 40.  I found an interesting article about it that shows a couple of pictures if you are interested:  http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article72924307.html

Good morning everyone. Don't know about me but if I keep sleeping late in the morning I will be waking at noon soon.
Got an email from my daughter this morning with a photo taken with her phone. Sunrise with smoke in the air. I know smoke can go miles away but sure pray there is no fire near them. Quite a few year ago there was a big fire in Canada and we got some smoke from it here. The sky was a weird color and had to shut the house up tight because of the smell. Also saw a lot of different birds at the feeders that I never saw before or since.

Now I have 30 minutes to get ready for a new CNA. My regular Thursday one is now on vacation. Miss her  already.

Have a good day

Gloria, I've been horrified about the big blaze in SW Colorado... could that be the smoke Regina is seeing?  So dry here my poor rain gauge is shrinking.  ;)  ... I need to add water to the pool it has dehydrated so much this week, don't want it below that rim of new tile.

Larry, I bookmarked your link to read thoroughly when I get time.  I have NOT been there but was supposed to have lunch with ladies one time & couldn't make it.  So sorry I missed the opportunity.  I will send the link to my sister-in-law, she has been to every place in the KC area (& surrounding).  Thanks.

Sure wish I could clone me today, I'd send the other Shirley to do the outside work.  Have ivy climbing the brick on the garage wall & need to take the battery powered weed whip to it, beats using those sheers before!  I'm waiting for #1 son to get home to order the battery powered chain saw like he bought in CO... said same price from Amazon.  I have been wanting something like it to use down along my river hideaway...  the mulberry trees are taking over & too big around for the "loppers".  He wants me to wait & try his to make sure it's what I need.... but I KNOW what I need.  ::)

Wishing all a wonderful day... Callie, is that a "Thuper Thursday?"

By the way, I got the tail end of radio person saying something about "Flag Day".... nothing more.  Will Google, but know y'all do know when that day is.  I sure want my flag out, although so windy this morning it may not get to stay out because it wraps around everything near (mount is on the house by the front doors).

Good Morning,
Hot and humid in central Oklahoma these days.   Quite a few severe storms in the northwestern part of the state - including a tornado or two.  Everything died out before getting to the I-35 area, though.
On Tuesday morning the OKC area was on the western edge of  heavy storms that did some damage in the Tulsa area.  We had a brief downpour with some wind.

Larry,  your mention of the Apple Orchard in K.C. reminded me of going there when we lived in Warrensburg MO from June 1969 - May 1970 while my husband did graduate work at Central MO State.  Loved that place - and going to the Starlight Theater for their summer musicals.   I remember seeing Ethel Merman and Donald O'Connor in "Call Me Madam".

Janie,  I've always heard that a fly won't see you coming if you aim from its back side.  Good luck with that!  LOL

Shirley,  sure....Thuper Thursday sounds like a winner to me.

Off for Bridge - lunch - more Bridge at a local restaurant.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good morning everyone. very windy, but sunny

Larry, I am now watching golf on my Kindle. this golf course means a lot to me, as it is about 1/4 mile from our home in Southampton.  Both Mark and Dennis caddied at Shinnecock, there are 3 golf course in a row  here.  The 18th hole at the southampton golf course was at the end of our property, the kids use to sell lemon aid to the golfers .  Nation course has a beach, I use to take my sons there to swim. When Mark was older he spent his summer days.  Thats where Linda took his ashes, when he died.  By the way I throw one more thing in President Eisenhower played at National. Sorry, I just got carried away, you can tell I was a golfnut . I was still playing at 89

MaryAnn Taffy almost gave me a heart attack (had to take a nitro) I got up at 5 to go to the bathroom, and she walks in with a mouse, put it down in front of me,I thought it was dead  :yikes: which was bad enough, I screamed and the mouse got up and ran and the cat chasing it :yikes: Now I know I have a loose mouse in the house

Gloria, I'd scream if Kendrick had a mouse in the house.  At one time, years ago, I thought I had a trace of a mouse, but there were no droppings.  I was headed for Florida so I gave my trap to a neighbor to set for me.  When I got back, the neighbor had caught a mouse, the woman who had taken me to the airport caught a mouse, but my trap was empty.  However, my silver drawer did have droppings so I gathered things up and dumped them in the sink in hot soapy water.  Kendrick did gift me with a baby bird last summer but we put the bird outside and kept Kendrick inside.  Speaking of Kendrick, I let him outside while I fixed my lunch - and I forgot about him.  He's still outside.  I can't do that; I've got to wait by the door for a few minutes, then bring him back inside.

The LPGA is in Grand Rapids so that is on until 4:30 and I can't get the PGA tour.  It will be that way all week.

Gloria de, I thank you  for the laugh, oh my what a surprise that must have been!! My friends cat brings in a chipmunk then lets it go. I think she likes to see her owners running about trying to catch it.

Larry, we didn't get hail here but my friend sure did and the more it came down the bigger it got!!!

Shirley, wouldn't that be cool, cloning oneself and then you would get twice as much done.....works for me!

Another lovely day here in Ca. I wanted to sleep this morning, and I had two different knockings of my door. This after my normal 6 a.m. call of first medications. So I gave up and got my day started with the usual massages and exercises, then on to the breathing machine. Still felt like sleeping some more. I have several friends around my age, and they too want to sleep a lot. Must be an age thing.

It is Flag Day, my calendar says so....and we do have flags posted in our garden. Nothing special happening here today. I hope you all had a good one. Hugs, June
