The teenager lost a contact lens while playing basketball in his driveway. After a brief, fruitless search, he gave up. His mother took up the cause and within minutes found the lens.

"How did you do that?" he asked.

"We weren’t looking for the same thing," she explained. "You were looking for a small piece of plastic. I was looking for $150."

Q: What starts with E, ends with E, and has only 1 letter in it?

A: Envelope.

Good evening.....

Thank you, BUBBLE, for our nice new Soda Shoppe.  Nice graphics and cute stories....especially the mom looking for $150.

CAROL, nice to read you have found a replacement doctor.  I am anxious to hear who you decided on.  That doctor will have some huge shoes to fill after Doctor Elizabeth. Good luck.

We decided to take the day off and head up the mountain.  It is so green and beautiful right now.  The BUFFALO were grazing away at their spot on the way.  The casinos are still there, even though it has been awhile since I have supported them.  I did plenty today to make up for lost time.  We really did enjoy the drive both ways.

Sadly the wild life officials that decided to move in and help out the cow elk have not been able to find her.  She appeared on one of the cameras that spotted her one of our foothill mountains a couple of days ago.  She appeared to be having problems delivering her baby and many people wanted them to go see if they could help her.  At first they said they would not intervine, but apparently they decided she was in trouble and agreed to go see what they might do.  I would like to think she delivered the baby and has moved on, but more than likely she crawled under a bush or tree and has probably passed on.
Some of you may have heard about this as they said it got world wide attention on FaceBook.

I hope you all have a good night of rest.  Tomorrow is June the FIRST!  Where did May go?

Good morning everyone..

We had a dandy rain with some thunder last night lets hope that makes the garden grow.

I need to make 10 more skateboards for this quilt and then it can be put together. Will see how the dasys goes and maybe I get get it done. Golden girl had me up at 5 am, wasn't my ideal time to rise and shine but that's ok.

Bubble ,thank you for the new start page and jokes.

Jenny ,I hope she did wander off an  had her calf ok.

Jane, I guess you will be shopping for a new microwave today.

Lloyd, where are you?? How is your leg doing??

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I too was up early this morning but I decided to wait out the doggies pill time on the sofa so got an extra hour in.  We also had rain during the night but it seems to be over now.

Not shopping for a new microwave, AMY.  Just waiting until my son has time to deal with it.  He sells them and he gave me this one for Christmas.  However, everyone and his brother wants an air conditioner TODAY and that's also his business.  I guess I can hang in there while he cools the town and countryside.

My car is still in the shop and I'm supposed to call them at 9 this morning to see what progress they've made.  If it's not ready, they'll drop me at work at 10 and give themselves the rest of the day to finish.  I hope that means they'll also pick me up at 2.  When I'm ready to go home, I'M READY TO GO HOME!

I hope you all have a lovely day.

Good morning everyone. didn't make it in yesterday, back acted up and could hardly move so sitting here was out. Laid on the couch most of the day. Now to catch up reading here.

CAROL  I always liked thr rust color. I like teal color

SHIRLEY  I would not know the router from anything else for a computer. My grandson is too busy right now to ask him. He just bought a new house and selling the one he has now. It was big enough whth just 2 of them but as their son gets bigger they need more room.

JUNE  it bothers me when I can do nothing. I sit and feel guilty when my CNAs do work for me. I feel guilty asking them to do things that I feel are my job. The 2 I have all the time are wonderful.

BUBBLE  thank you for the new book to write in for June. Love the graphic you posted.

JENNY  sad reading about the elk. Hope she and the calf made it.

JANE  you make me glad I do not have to worry about the upkeep for a car anymore.

Have a good day.

Try This

When you have an "I Hate My Job" day, try this.  On your way home from work, stop at your pharmacy and go to the thermometer section and purchase a rectal thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson.  Be very sure you get this brand.

When you get home, lock your doors, draw the curtains and disconnect the phone so you will not be disturbed.  Change into very comfortable clothing and sit in your favorite chair, open the package and remove the thermometer.  Now, carefully place it on a table or a surface so that it will not become chipped or broken.

Now the fun part begins.

Take out the literature and read it carefully.  You will notice that in small print there is a statement, "Every Rectal Thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson is personally tested" .

Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud five times, "I am so glad I do not work in the Thermometer quality control at Johnson & Johnson."

Many years ago I had a teacher whose husband unexpectedly died suddenly of a heart attack.  About a week after his death, she shared some of her insight with a classroom of students.

As the late afternoon sunlight came streaming in through the classroom windows and the class was nearly over, she moved a few things aside on the edge of her desk and sat down there. With a gentle look of reflection on her face, she paused and said, "Before class is over, I would like to share with all of you a thought that is unrelated to class, but which I feel is very important.

Each of us is put here on earth to learn, share, love, appreciate and give of ourselves.  None of us knows when this fantastic experience will end. It can be taken away at any moment.  Perhaps this is God's way of telling us that we must make the most out of every single day."

Her eyes beginning to water, she went on, "So I would like you all to make me a promise.  From now on, on your way to school, or on your way home, find something beautiful to notice.  It doesn't have to be something you see - it could be a scent, perhaps of freshly baked bread wafting out of someone's house, or it could be the sound of the breeze slightly rustling the leaves in the trees, or the way the morning light catches one autumn leaf as it falls gently to the ground.

Please look for these things, and cherish them.  For, although it may sound trite to some, these things are the stuff" of life.  The little things we are put here on earth to enjoy.  The things we often take for granted.  We must make it important to notice them, for at any time...  it can all be taken away."

The class was completely quiet.  We all picked up our books and filed out of the room silently.  That afternoon, I noticed more things on my way home from school than I had that whole semester. Every once in a while, I think of that teacher and remember what an impression she made on all of us, and I try to appreciate all of those things that sometimes we all overlook.

Take notice of something special you see on your lunch hour today.  Go barefoot.  Or walk on the beach at sunset.  Stop off on the way home tonight to get a double-dip ice cream cone.  For as we get older, it is not the things we did that we often regret, but the things we didn't do.

This is to be one hot day with "feels like" about 110 degrees, not my favorite weather. I have errands to run so will be out early.

So sad about the elk, Jenny, sometimes "Nature" is so cruel and animals suffer.   :tissue:

Carol, Jenny, one of these days I'm going to make a trip to CO when we can meet & just talk our heads off... you, Jenny & me.... do your husbands know each other well enough to enjoy visiting?  My sons are always on such short time they want to cram every bit of the hiking & fishing (and eating) into 24 hours of "mountains", I feel guilty asking them to leave even for a few hours so I can visit.  I am not sure how this trip will go.  We have reservations at Mt.Princeton, Andy is already at the BLM campground near Poncha Springs, he thought he would be totally alone & discovered it totally packed (mid-week) & had to settle with open space until reservations for Sunday night.  His son is driving out today & we will all meet Sat night in Salida & head UP after going to church & breakfast.  We made reservations the first week of Jan and already all week ends were booked, so must leave Friday afternoon.  Everyone loves your mountains!

Amy, one time I thought I'd give those mulberries a trial, my mother wouldn't ever use them because of "so many bugs".  I picked a pan full, dumped them in water to rinse & the bugs floated to the surface...... completely covered & out they went!   We had dew berries, blackberries & raspberries on the back side of our land when I grew up. They were not little ones but thumb size berries and not covered with bugs so always had plenty for pies & jams.  The mulberry trees grow in every crack of earth around here, shame to have to chop them down but they are so messy & grow so fast, and those black birds do love them.   :knuppel2:

Bubble, thanks for the new spot to chat & the funnies..... Been wondering how Don is doing since he hasn't posted after getting home.  I expect you are worn out as well, you & your family are such good hosts and know Don loves being with you.  I'm exhausted with all the activities y'all do in those short months, feel like I am right there with you.

Larry, I am surprised to read about your needing to walk more, Cas' doctors never encouraged him to be more active... just take more pills.  I am impressed with how much you do every day.  Carol's husband is another that I think gets better medical advice than Cas did.... Since we used the same doctors the cardio explained to me that "Cas' heart muscle just wasn't strong so nothing they could do to help that".  I am out here rooting everyone on & so happy to see how well everyone is doing.

I'd better get moving, warming up & I am not dressed yet.  Came to see how much sleep Fitbit showed last night.... just over 5 hours so will get extra during the "heat of the day".  Heat advisory in effect today..  People here are talking about record heat this summer so I will turn into a mole.

Gloria, great readings this morning.... I settled for a touch on the forehead for my kids.   ;)  Like that suggestion of paying attention to the everyday moments... so true.  I keep looking to see if this is a scam & not true (about the router) not hearing a lot in the news about how serious it is.

Jane, nice to know it is under warranty so you should get a new one without more money.  So often they don't quit until the day after warranty runs out.  I found out when I don't have the microwave to re-heat my coffee it is no trouble to keep a little saucepan on the gas stove to put my coffee in "the old fashioned way". Hope you don't have to wait long.

Lloyd Hammond

Good Morning everyone. I am slow getting around still have a large bulge on the leg. it still hurts when walking on it but not as bad as it did. sun is shining bright and we are having very hot weather in the upper 90's Have a great day see you all Latter.

Lloyd

Hi Everyone.  We have a sunny morning today and are headed into the low 90's before the day is over.  Today is the day for the housekeeper and we plan to go pick up Pat's new shoes, that have finally come in, and then get our main meal out.  Yesterday the yard folks were finally able to mow and trim the yards and they now look very nice whereas they had been looking pretty shabby. Nothing else on the schedule for today and I am glad.

Amy, I know that a lot of men like to cook and will do the majority of it in their homes.  Unfortunately, I am not one of them.  We also had some more rain last night and everything is really green around here but no close by thunder.

DeAngel, one can never go wrong with meatloaf.  We will be getting more strawberries this morning as they don't seem to last long.  We usually get a gallon and then share some of them with the kids as they love them but really can't afford to buy them. Has the story changed much on General Hospital in these 50 years?  I didn't realize there were any soaps left on TV.

Carol, does the tree block the view of the cross street?  I really hate it when there are bushes planted right on a corner that makes it tough to see if there is any oncoming traffic, especially if it isn't a 4-way stop.  Glad you are happy with your Roomba.  It must be hiding under your bed so it can rest!  :)  Glad you found a new doctor.

Jane, is it possible the microwave threw a breaker?  Glad it is still under warranty but still a hassle to deal with. Glad Bucky was able to find the used part you need for your AC and was able to save you some money.  Hope you get your car back today.

June, it sounds like you could use a little scolding for trying to move furniture yourself.  Sometimes we don't heed the safety signals that our body sends us and then regret it later.  Hope today finds you feeling better.

Bubble, thank you for those very nice graphics and getting us started on a new week and a new month.

Jenny, I take it you left a few dollars behind at the casino.  Nice you could take a day trip to the mountains.

Gloria, glad to see you felt up to being on the computer this morning.  Hope your grandson has no difficulty selling his home. I am glad you like your CNA's and keep in mind you are giving someone a job when you let them do the things for you.  Very nice readings and a funny chuckle piece.

Shirley, it sounds like you will have a jam packed few days in the mountains.  I do hope you will find some time for rest and relaxation.  It remains to be seen whether I will be able to walk more.  I made a sort foray into Walmart yesterday just back to the bread department and a quick stop in the produce section at the front and by the time I got back to the car was having angina and really didn't feel very well the rest of the day.  Once again I did not get everything I need to use the oxygen for walking.  I have the hose and the cannula but not the connecting little adapter.  I will only try to walk in the house as I said yesterday.  My heart doctor and lung doctor say the same thing about my heart  that it is not able to supply the oxygen needed to let me be very active. I am just glad I can still get out of the house and still get to Church.  From all I have read apparently the problems with the router are true.  However, I am not ready to do a reset of my router but, if I can remember, I will discuss it with my son.

Lloyd, certainly happy to see your posting this morning.  I hope you can stay in where it is cool and give that leg more time to heal.

Happy June 1, Everyfriend.

Remember me?  Shirley's "south of the border" neighbor?  Have been reading regularly but never feel I have anything to add to the conversational threads that hasn't already been said.

It's been a pleasantly busy summer so far - although we're having the same kind of weather Shirley has.  Supposed to be 100* or more during the next few days.

Came home from church on Mother's Day to find #2 son planting pretty annuals among the perennials he put in 2 years ago.
Everything was in full bloom for the annual Neighborhood Yard Tour on Memorial Day Saturday evening and I made sure to "give credit where credit was due" for the compliments.  Next door neighbors had an "after-party" on their patio.  Saw some fireflies (lightning bugs?) flitting around as I walked home.

Miss Emiy received her white coat - signifying she can now begin clinical studies on her path to becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic.  She and 64 classmates were honored with a formal ceremony and reception on Friday of Memorial Day weekend.
Her parents and brother went to Kansas City for the event and - as a surprise for her - Miss Ellen flew in from NYC.  The Facebook video of Emily's reaction when she opened the door and saw her sister was priceless.
They all came home for the rest of the weekend and I had a lovely visit with both girls on that Saturday afternoon.

Met a friend yesterday to see the movie "Book Club" and then get a bite to eat.  Movie was a fun way to spend a summer afternoon and we enjoyed a nice "diner style" dinner---  surrounded by 31 members of a Kansas high school softball team who had just won a championship in some kind of tournament.   Noisy, yes - but happy chatter from well-behaved young people isn't annoying.

Need to pick up my new glasses and bake some cookies for a bridge club friend who is moving into this neighborhood today.  Another friend is stopping by to see the flower beds but she is always a "quick looker" and I don't expect her to stay long.

That's it from this corner.
Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day

Good morning everyone..

Another morning the dogs thought I should be up. Cloudy here this morning , windy with a temp of 46° love it!!! We are off to town for hubby to get his hair cut, may take in a few garage sales but we shall see how it goes.

The rain for the past few days brought the garden along, including the beans that I didn't think would grow! Now I will have two rows of beans and beans coming out my ears! Have neighbours to share with and my sister loves beans so no waste here, just waist as I love them with butter.

Jane, hope today brings you happiness and no worries. I believe we all get those times and there is a silver lining, they don't last long!

June, you know if God brings us to it, He will see us through it. Each day is a blessing to us and I know I really enjoy your posts.

Callie, Miss Emily must be so proud as well as you of her accomplishments. How long till she can practice on her own?

Gloria, happy to see your post and hope your back behaves for you. Not nice being in pain and discomfort and nothing will help.

Shirley, I understand ,I don't like protein with my fruit either. I had some raspberries and I soaked them in vinegar and up the bugs came. Asked the person that gave them to me did she find many bugs in hers and she said no, didn't soak them!!!

Lloyd ,great to see you post, you know we all miss your posts. Pop in even to just say hi..

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good (I hope) Morning Everyfriend!  So far, so good!

AMY, doggies up early here again too.  Do you think they know something we don't?  I think the one across the street was up earlier than usual the past couple of days.

I have no plans for today!  I have a comforter in the washer and if I feel like it, I might put it in the dryer later.  We shall see.  I think I might be getting ornery in my old age!

I wish you all a nice, peaceful day....me too!

Good Saturday morning.

Jane, I sure hope you will have a better day today.  I think we all have those kind of days every so often.  I am still trying to get rested up from my busy weekend last week.  I even slept all night without having to get up at all.   Can't remember the last time that happened.

Not sure what I will do today.  It was supposed to be a very rainy weekend. However, it does seem to be getting a little brighter looking and the sun is trying to make an appearance.  Supposed to be hot and muggy.

I hope everyone will have a great day.

Good morning everyone, yesterday was bad here. the humidity was up to 89% and the dew point was 78, same as the temperature. No sun at all yesterday either.I went outside and 2 minutes later I was back inside. Had the AC on the dehimidify selection and it was on thill half hour ago when I shut it off. Just heard local forecast and it will be more the same today and it is not even summer officially yet.

SHIRLEY  friends of my daughter had a Mulberry tree and gave my daughter a small one. After a year my SIL cut it down and dug up the roots. That was in San Diego. Their friends liked the tree because it shaded their house in the hot afternoons in San Diego. Would love to be with you in those beautiful mountains. Have heard nothing here on the news or anything about the router. I would not know a router so don't touch anything on the machine, had too many problems with it already.

LLOYD  great seeing your post. We do miss and worry about you when you do not post every day.

LARRY  we have a chance of thunderstorms late afternoon.  Most times that would clear the air but once in awhile it will be more humid after. I hope we do not have any 90s because the humidity would be unearable. My grandson had a bid on his house for more than he was asking about half an hour after it was listed. They found a house closer to my son but over the border into Mass. Bigger house and more land with houses not as close.

CALLIE  thought you left us, been too long since you posted. Congratulations to Emily. Would love to see your colorful flowers. They were late this year  putting the flower boxes and hanging baskets on the lamp posts. They missed Memorial day and pit them up on Thursday. Not very colorful this year, mostly purple petunias.

JUNE every day we wake up is a good day.

AMY  hope the coming week is much better for you. Send that 46° this way, PLEASE! It was 71° when I woke this morning and that was  5:30. Believe me I try not to think about my gack but the only time I don't feel it is when I sit or lay down. Cannot spend the rest of my life that way. Like you I don't like the protein with my "organic" fruit and veggies. If you read anything about what we should buy organic because of the sprays used I will keep soaking what I buy in vinegar and water and rinse them in running water after.

JANE  you ornery? That will never happen.

JOY  hot and humid is what it will be again today here.

A Scottish mother visits her son in his New York City apartment and asks, “How do you find the Americans, Donald?”

“Mother,” says Donald, “they’re such noisy people. One neighbor won’t stop banging his head against the wall, while the other screams and screams all night long.”

“Oh, Donald! How do you manage to put up with them?”

“What can I do? I just lie in bed quietly, playing my bagpipes.”

Hi Everyone.  We are suppose to only get to 89 degrees today.  Once again we had showers last evening from some pop-up storms.  Our county was under a severe thunderstorm warning but we only got some moderate winds and then the rain.  Our neighborhood is having a garage sale today and our neighbors across the street are participating as they just put their house on the market a couple of days ago.  There have already been a good number of folks stopping to check the garage sale items out.  We did not accomplish what we had planned yesterday but put it off until today as Pat just wasn't up to going out.  So hopefully today we will get some strawberries and pick up her new shoes and also have our main meal out.  I may go to my meeting this morning but haven't decided for sure.

Callie, of course I remember you but don't be a stranger.  I sure remember that hot Oklahoma weather and the wind that always seemed to be blowing.  I bet you have a beautiful yard.  Congratulations to Miss Emily on the progress in her training.  Nice of her sister to come back to be there for the important event.

Jane, sorry this has been such a dreadful week for you.  Did you get your car back yesterday?  Sure hope you have a good day today.

June, I sure hope today is a better one for you as well as for Jane. May God bless you this day.

Amy, enjoy the yard sales today.  I am shocked at the number of cars that have stopped for the garage sale across the street.  I can remember how nice my mother's garden used to look in the Spring as things before to come up and grow.  I guess your friend just got some protein with her raspberries if she didn't soak them.

Lloyd, enjoy your cooler weather and please don't overdo in your shop.

Joy, maybe we have sent some of our rainy weather up your way although you often get weather systems that don't impact us.

Gloria, it appears to be a great time to be selling a house.  It sounds like someone was watching for homes in his area to be put on the market.  That is what happened to us on our last house.

Good afternoon, very hot and humid. 100%

Jane and June, hope to day is better for both of you.

Did not get much done yesterday except friend took me to Friendly's, we had to wait a long time, as we did not know it was free large hamburger day. all you had to do was buy a soda and you got a free hamburger Then she took me shopping to the Christmas Tree store.,  Also got a call from someone I did not remember. My nephew just handed me the phone when it rang.  Talked for about 5 min.  After they hung up, I checked the name. on caller ID It was someone I had played Wii bowling with at the senior about 5 years ago. They just wanted to know how I was doing

Bubble, thanks for new page.

Good Afternoon, Everyfriend,

Amy,  Emily is in the third of ten trimesters needed to earn her Doctorate.  I don't know if there are other ceremonies before she graduates.    She already has an offer to join a practice in her home area after graduation.  This will be perfect for her because she isn't as adventurous as Ellen is.

Lindancer,  Ellen just posted a picture on Facebook titled "fishing at Gantry Plaza State Park" on Long Island - with the hashtag  "can'ttaketheokieoutofthegirl".    It's of people on the pier with the city skyline in the background (across the river?)    No hint as to who she's with or whose idea this was.   Her other grandmother taught all of her Grands to fish but Ellen never liked it as much as the others.   I suspect she's "showing off" a bit to her city friends but I think it's great that she's exploring different things to do.

Gloria,  my flowers have never been this pretty.  Son planted things that don't require much care other than watering. Then he installed a little sprinkler system with a hose that connects to the outdoor faucet.  It can be laid in any pattern and has sprinkler head "stakes" that are stuck into the hose wherever needed.  There's a timer on the faucet connection so all I have to do is step out onto the patio, set the timer and turn on the faucet.   The HOA sprinkler runs three times a week but that's not enough to keep the flowers going.

Didn't get to pick my glasses up because #2 son stopped in and visited quite a while.  Some big changes about to happen in his world - all goodbut not quite time to talk about them.

Didn't bake cookies, either because I remembered this friend doesn't eat sweets - not even a piece of candy or a cookie that the Bridge Club hostesses provide.
I'll take her some of the slider sandwiches topped with a butter/honey mustard/Worcestershire sauce mixture and heated before eating.

Am trying to keep up with the OK University softball team's progress in the NCAA Tournament being played here in OKC.   I'm not really a fan of softball or baseball but got interested in this team when Emily was working at the tournament during college.    They lost the first game on Thursday but won this morning.  They play again this evening and, if they win, will have to play the team that beat them on Thursday and win in order to get into the Finals.

Hope the day is going well for Eachfriend.

JaneS

CALLIE, I know I don't say it often enough but you have every right to be proud of your grandchildren!  And Emily's latest step is proof of that.  Not only is she doing what is best for her, her family (including siblings) are proud of her and that's important.

My dinner is in the oven and my microwave is in the shop!  I managed to get it down off the shelf and into the car and drove it to my son's store.  He took it out of the trunk and checked it out while I was there.  He said, "maybe it just blew a fuse inside."  And when I left he was taking the back off.  Maybe I'll get it back soon....maybe not!  I told him I lived without a microwave for 40 years.  I guess I can manage a few more days.  My dinner is in the oven!

I'm happy to say that nothing off happened today.  Of course it's not over yet but I tend to wear my rose-colored glasses most of the time.

Enjoy what's left of the day!

Gloria de, I agree with you about those two items.  They revolutionized cooking but I'd also have to add my electric fry pan and my electric canner to the list.

I'm going to try to go to bed early tonight because I'm unusually tired tonight.  It's probably because the doggies have decided that morning comes earlier these days.  I suppose that could also mean that night comes earlier, too.  I'm going to test that theory!  So I wish you all a GOOD NIGHT!
