Now, Lloyd, that's about as new or close up as anyone will ever see, I'm not advertising my wrinkles! You could pick me out of a crowd with that picture, honest.

Cats were both in the bedroom last night & decided they wanted to get outside in the cool air. BUT, first, let's have some tuna fish! Fed them & Tiger decided she didn't want to go out but when Tom went out old Callie wanted in. Gave her a dish of tuna and she opted to go into her garage for the rest of the night. Crazy cat, she has a heated bed out there but prefers to sleep in the sawdust bin Cas built into the table saw stand. To get in she has to work her way through the air compressor that has other tools stacked on top & crawl into the drawer from the open back of the saw stand. Have a litter box, self feeder for dry food always full and usually a bowl of water (that might be empty right now). All 3 are settled in so I am heading back to bed. SO cool out but wind is howling, news man said possible power outages. So far no rain here and we sure need it.

Gloria

Good morning every one, hope everyone one got as good a night's sleep as I did. I will  take nights like that as often as they come along. Much better  than  those with no sleep.

AMY  your nap of 2 hours sound like some I have had lately, I was never able to sleep in the day time. Oh what old age is doing to me. Made a blueberry pie yesterday and it really tastes yummy. Shared with 2 of my friends here and of course Yvette  and I enjoyed it, too. Only 1 small piece left. Now do I give it to Yvette when she gets here or keep it for me.

SHIRLEY  only that one brother was like that. No one else in the family was a bigit. He was worse when he came back from WW2 and seving in the Pacific.

JANE  when one has room  to store things they do add up. I got rid of many things when I moved here. Had all kind of places to store things at my apartment in my son's house. No place to store much here so not collecting anything. Some things I use but not oft en I have stored on the floor in the closet in the bedroom. Now  take a day off from your "attic".

BUBBLE  LOVE YOUR POST ABOUT OUR FLAG. I wish people would fly the flag more than they do, not just on a holiday. There is a flag pole here and they only put the flag up in late spring till cold weather sets in. There is a spo t likgh to shine on it but it is never turned on so the flag is in the dark at night. That surprises me with the vets that live in this building. The witch will have her own way.

ROSEMARY  I think Bubble is the one to help you. It is so long since I posted a graphic I have forgotten how.

SHIRLEY  wish you could get a good night's sleep for a change without worrying about the cats. They can stay out all night even if it storms, they will find a place to keep dry.

LLOYD  I have been sleeping a tleast an hour after Yve tter leaves every day and slep good all night lately.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning everyone. well I had a hard time going to sleep but when I did i slept good, but still dreamed a bit. I have the dreams you think were long is relay only a min. or two the tell me. but the ware me out is big time. It is 60º and partly sunny. the weather guesser says. but says going to have light rain and 71º afternoon. Have a great day everyone.

Lloyd

Amy

Good morning everyone.

Not sure what today will bring......we piled one half a bigger half of the wood and still have another smaller one to pile. If the rain stays away and the mosquitos and blackflies also stay away it will get done. Need to take Kyle into town to pick up some 2x4's then get to work here.

Shirley, I know it is work doing the wood but the surroundings are soothing. I am listening to geese and loons fly over some so low you can hear the wind in their wings. Little songs birds blasting out their songs and I am in hailing the smell of lilacs... Now the next load of wood I thin k the lilacs will be over with but that is alright.

Gloria, share the one remaining piece :)

Jane ,that purging also needs to be done here...but where does one start?

Better get a move on....slept in again..

Enjoy your day everyone...stay safe.

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's in the low 70s here right now and supposed to be in the mid  80s later today with rain in the prediction.

I took yesterday off (about half).  I did a small corner.  I made the mistake of going in there to look for jam jars for  the weekend.  My daughter and SIL will be up from Maryland and we're going to the Berry Farm to pick strawberries on Saturday morning.  Then on Sunday, he's learning to make jam.  It feels good to be able to pass on a recipe that used to be my mother's and my grandmother's with upgrades in the canning process.  He's so excited to be able to do this and I'm happy to help.  When he asked me what makes my jam different from others he's tasted, I told him it was partly the fact that I went to the fields and picked the berries myself (with love) and then I added a lot of love to the jam with the other ingredients.  That's when he decided that he wanted to go pick berries and make jam with me.  I'm almost as excited about it as he is!

GLORIA, I agree with AMY...share the last piece of pie with Yvette.

AMY, how is it possible that you can make piling wood sound like such a pleasant job?

SHIRLEY, I'll be looking for you with your picture in mind!

I wish you all a pleasant day!

What is your recipe for strawberry jam?
Freshly picked for sure has all the flavor too, not like those kept refrigerated in transport.

Shirley

Nothing is as good as fresh picked RIPE, instead of having to pick so green. Jane, I do wish I had hung around the kitchen more when growing up. Never learned how to make jam or can, have tried a few times & end up throwing it away for fear of poisoning my family!

Gloria, way I see it you could eat that piece of pie and not say anything about it, or go ahead and share.... good for you for baking it!  Maybe another to put a few pounds on your bones!

Wind last night was awful, lots of leaves on the ground under the sweet gum tree. Yard guys just called & said they can't come Friday so how about today???  It really isn't needed but will look too shabby if it has to go another whole week. They are firemen so have this lawn service on their days off. Movin' on..........

JaneS

Bubble, the recipe is very simple....

8 cups of fresh strawberries w/stems removed and then crushed to make 4 cups
7 cups of sugar
1 pouch of Certo or Sure gel

Add sugar to the prepared fruit and mix well.  Add (or not) a 1/2 Tbsp of butter to help reduce the foaming. (I do)  Using high heat, bring to a boil that won't be stirred down.  Boil exactly one minute stirring constantly.  Stir in fruit pectin. Return to full boil. Boil exactly one minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and skim off any foam

Ladle immediately into sterilized jars.  Cover with two-piece lids (and this is where I deviate from all the directions.

Turn jars upside down on the counter for 5 minutes and then turn right side up.  You'll hear the snap when they seal.  After you turn them right side up, don't move them until they are cool.

OOPS, I forgot to tell you to add the LOVE!  You can do that any time from beginning to end.  And you can do it more than once!

REWRITING what I can remember of my post this morning.

Today would be Pat Scott's Birthday......HAPPY BIRTHDAY in Heaven Sweet Lady.

We are having a nicer day today after several windy days and cooler temps.  Several places in the high country had snow night before last.  There was a lot of tree damage from the terrible "Derecho" Saturday afternoon....lots of trees down on homes and cars.  My neighbors tree thankfully fell towards the street so no damage and we can get by around it, so we are not high on the priority list for removal as of now.

Dr. Dave called me with wonderful news a bit ago.  Michele is getting chemo right now, but got the report from her oncologist that the last scan done this past Monday is clear!  We are so thankful and I again want to say thank you to all of you for the continued positive thoughts and prayers 🥰🙏🥰🙏

Thank you, BUBBLE for sharing the wonderful and detailed article regarding Flag Day.  I am going to share it with my Dad as he will really enjoy it as well.

JANE, how nice to have a trip to the strawberry fields to look forward to.  Sweet that your SIL wants to help you make your jam.

SHIRLEY, I really like your new picture.... and you are Right, it looks just like you !  Those kitties of yours sure do like to keep you busy.....they are mighty lucky cats to have you for their mama.

Darn....the whole first part of my post is missing😢😤😤😤. I kept saving it, but some how on the last save it was not all there....😢😢😢

AMY, how nice you were able to enjoy the nice fragrance of the lilacs  while you were piling the wood.  Sorry you were bothered with the black flies and those dern skeeters though😢  More 2/4's sounds like another trug is in the making!

GLORIA, I am willing to guess that Yvette would want YOU to enjoy the last piece of Blueberry Pie😘  Sure makes me happy for you that you were able to make the pie with help and that you enjoyed it so much❣️

I have been on the telephone and it has been awhile since I wrote this so think I better post it before I loose it.

Enjoy your day 💐

Oh, my goodness, Jenny! What wonderful news. I am so tired my emotions are raw and as I read your post I felt this silly liquid pop into my eyes. I never in my life cry when hurt or sad, but MAD and such tender & welcome news as yours, I just come unglued! Give her a big "thank God" from me and celebrate to the hilt!  We never know about tomorrow but right now, this moment in time, the whole family (including you & Bob) have got to be on cloud nine!   :nanadance:  :bravo:  :cheer:  :dancingdog:  :excited:  :happydance:  :pineapple:    :woohoo:

Jenny, I'm so happy to see such good news about Michelle!

Janie, yum for the fresh strawberries and jam.  #1 son/dil have srawberries and other berry bushes plus a peach tree in their yard. I gave all my jars to her and usually get a few back filled with something delicious.

I'm sitting on my patio " in the cool of the evening" watching a hummingbird, 2 chickadees and 2 pairs of cardinals flit in and out to the feeders.
Quite a change from yesterday when gale force winds blew dust in from New Mexico from late afternoon until this morning.

Now 2 crows have perched in the cottonwood tree and are "discussing" this odd critter invading their space. Their pattern of caws sounds as if they really are having a conversation---and a rabbit has just come to nibble on the sprouts of bird seed under the feeder.
The cottonwood leaves must have a shiny side because the angle of the lowering sun is making them look like they're tipped in gold.
And that's what's going on in my world.  :calm:

Wishing Everyfriend a restful night.  :smitten:

JaneS

Oh, JENNY, like Shirley, my eyes began to leak when I read your news!  I breathed a "Thank you God!" and let the tears come!  I'm so happy for all of you!

We had a hot, humid day that ended with rain showers tonight.  They held off until Mickie and I got back from our after-supper walk and we were able to enjoy them.  A bit of thunder but just light rain...perfect for watering the grass and gardens!

I promised myself I would not even open the door to that back room today but I had to go in there to look for something and I found it but I couldn't come back out without pitching in and doing a bit more organizing and tossing.  It still doesn't look good and I'm probably the only one who can see the progress but the kids will appreciate all this work when I'm gone. I figure another two weeks, a little help from my family and I can call the guys to come do the floor.  Then I have to reorganize and put everything back in its proper place and label it all. And maybe even toss some more stuff.

Right now, we're waiting for a shower to stop and then we'll take one last trip out in the yard and then head for Dreamland.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone.

Windy weather here, started last night along with thunder and pounding rain.  I took the umbrella down from the picnic table and put chairs out of harms way.. We did need the rain.
Not sure what today will bring a lot of neglected jobs more than likely. May even get some sewing in!!

Jane, no fun today. We piled all the wood yesterday and of course we did have help..skeeters and blackflies made us work a little faster. Ordered another load .. No local strawberries here yet.

Jenny AMEN!! So nice to hear Michele is now pulling ahead. Will pray that it stays this way. She is one amazing lady with a strong will to live.

Gloria, hope your eye feels better and soon. My friend emailed me to say (warning) she had pink eye.....but it turned out to be allergies She never had allergies before but has them now at 80 yrs old. She isn't too impressed with it either.

Callie, what a wonderful picture you painted out on your patio. I have only seen one cardinal here a long time ago and I have been told they are back this year .

Time to get ready to take Kyle out..

Enjoy your day everyone. stay safe.

I keep thinking about things getting better like they say. and getting the R V fixed and do some traveling. would be nice if we could come down to your aerie and maybe get some of the fresh lobster you talked about. we could cook them under your supervision in our R V.and set the pickneck table under the awning and enjoy a good feed and visit. the thoughts makes my mouth water. have a good day today.

Good morning.  It isn't really a good morning here but the wonderful news from Jenny about Michele makes any day into a GOOD day.  I am so happy for her and for all of the family.

It is supposed to be thunderstorms today but in spite of that I am off to the dentist.  I broke a tooth yesterday.  Didn't just chip it....I broke it clean off and it is right in upper front.  I don't want to open my mouth for any reason!  Luckily my dentist could take me in quickly but I have a feeling that he is going to tell me I'm in for a lot of trouble and big expense.  <sigh>

I hope you all have a good day.  Take care.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's a beautiful morning here.  I have the windows open to a soft breeze following a night of off and on showers.  Everything got watered and it all smells so fresh this morning.  The temp is only 73 right now and is heading for a high of 80.  Not too bad!

Mickie has a grooming appt today and my groomer isn't allowed to do house visits yet so I have to get her there.  Frankie works at the time of the appt so my nice neighbor is giving us a ride there.

GLORIA, I hope your eye is feeling better by now.  I know how it is to see from one eye all the time.  So I understand what you're feeling.

PHYLLIS, I sure don't know why we can't keep our teeth and have them stay in good shape.  Food is our compensation for not being able to do so many other things.  Seems like we should be able to chew for the rest of our lives without worrying about having them break.

I've decided that today will be laundry day and maybe it will keep me out of that back room for a day.  I have stuff to take to Goodwill and since Frankie will be here with my car tomorrow, she can help me do that.  I also have stuff for the dumpster so she can help me with that, too.  There's some stuff back there that will go out with Christy and her hubby when they go home on Sunday and stuff he can help me move.  Then we shall see.

I wish you all a lovely day!

Gloria, has the doctor ever given you a reason why the film works like that?  I've had "goopy" eyes before, when waking up, think it allergies of some sort (natural or even paint fumes) but not so bad it wouldn't clear up fast. Do wish you could find the reason. When it comes to eyes I am paranoid, have not had an eye doctor to put total faith in since about 1989 when the one that fixed me up in one visit... retired.

Amy, I've never lost the "rush" of wonder when hearing the swish of those big wings gliding through the air. You are right, not work when so peaceful all around. I've been feeding birds a little better lately and see quite a few cardinals visiting, male & female. Just this week I've had the little red headed house finches.

Sadly, the cowbirds are here and chase off others. They are so brazen they don't even fly off when I go near the feeder to scare them away. One year we watched the house finchs build a nest over the light fixture by the garage doors, got out the ladder to see 4 pretty little eggs. The cowbird showed up & daily pushed an egg out so she could lay her egg in it's place. As the mama finch sat on the nest the cowbird stayed away, even after they hatched & poor mama finch fed those babies. When they were ready to fly here came Mama Cowbird to claim her babies! So I've never wanted them to be around after that!

All 3 cats came running to the door, not sure what upset them, don't see the mowers or any reason to scare them, but each went to their fav place, Callie to her garage, Tom to the basement & Tiger on the couch near me. She will go to the bedroom when I head that way to get dressed. Plenty to do while cool, supposed to be 93 today.

Oops, Jane, Phyllis & Lloyd showed up. Jane, sounds like you have everything & everybody rolling right along. All of a sudden it seems everyone I know is doing the clean out & toss routine. Guess that's what happens when we are grounded and notice how much we've accumulated, right? Phyllis, my heart stops with thoughts of a tooth problem. Hugs to you. And Lloyd, have to giggle at you. When you hear about food I can feel you melt down at the thought! I also love to eat, maybe it is a Missouri trait!

Have a great June day, every friend!

Amy

Good morning everyone..

A fantastic morning 46° out there at the moment. We are off to pick up items that we bought for us at Costco from our friend. First we are going to head to another small town to pick up (I hope) Jello products for both of us,plus Lysol wipes  for her.

As you can see ,thank you Bubble for posting the photo our 3 rd load of wood came. We will deal with that when we come home. We are finding after each load our muscles are not as sore. Mind you we don't want to make a career of this either.....if all goes well one more load after this should take us through winter and have a surplus.

Better scoot.

Enjoy your day everyone..stay safe.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, I can see with both eyes this morning. I kept a warm wash cloth on my right eye most of the day yesterday. Was clear again when I woke this morning, hooray.
Better  news, got a call from my eye doctor's office yesterday to reschedule my appointment from April, Will have it now on 9-1 at 2:20 pm. Will have to call son to see if he will take me. The town car I use is still not running.

AMY  before Yvette left yesterday we had a downpouring rain and wind, lasted 5 minutes. Then we had showers the rest of the day on and off. Glad it had stopped when she left. I have never had allergies either except for raw onions. I miss seeing Cardinals here, they were at my feeder all the time.

LLOYD  we can keep dreaming right? That lobster was a big treat, they are getting too expensive these days.

PHYLLIS  glad your dentist was open. Mine will not  open till mid July.

JANE  65 here now and still humid.  Dream on-my cancelled last dentist appointment was to have some top teeth extracted.  Before I know it I will have a mouth full of false teeth.

SHIRLEY  the Cardinals are my favorite birds to watch, the pairs are so good  to each other. My eye doc tor said things like that film happen to some people at times. Just have to get through it till it leaves. My daughter when living in San Diego call this month June Gloom, lots of overcast or fog.

BUBBLE  thanks for the link.

AMY  glad I don't have to try and stack all that wood. At least it is cut and split.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning, Friends! The 6:00 am alarm that I accidentally set when changing batteries last time, is now doing the wake up call. Don't know how I set or can un-set that silly thing, but makes my heart race every time I'm in here when it goes off. Cooler outside than in so have the sliding door right by me open. Tom is looking in but not ready to come in, no sign of the girls. Going to be in the 90s again so outside chores better get done early. We just can't seem to get rain so must water. Grass now looking like late August. Onward!

Amy, that load of wood is impressive. Do you cover it after stacking? Thanks for posting, Bubble, & thanks for sharing the photo, Amy!

I have a new problem this week, suggestions for cures or fixes welcome. I have 4 or 5 bites on my body that aren't where normally you get flea bites, more like chiggers. But we have never had chiggers in this part of Kansas. I am not sure "oak mites" leave bites like this, they sure do itch! Don't think it safe to put that stuff on the back of my neck like I did the cats.  :-\  :crazy2: HELP!?

Glad to see you slip in, Gloria, and even gladder that your eye is better. Hate to be always rushing the summer away, but I'm ready for winter.... a cold enough one to get rid of these bugs. Used to be my busiest month was between March & April. All those chores of kids getting out of school & what to do for summer. Now time is busy taking care of cats, they don't mind like kids did!

Off to fix breakfast for me 'n the cats.

phyllis

Sometimes things actually turn out better than you think they will.  The dentist was able to "glue" my tooth back in place.  It's a little shorter than it was but it fills up that big hole and I couldn't be more delighted.  I never dreamed he could do anything about it.  And, even though it cost a bit, it wasn't as expensive as I feared.

They required that I wear a mask, took my temperature at the reception desk, and asked me to use the hand sanitizer before going in to see the dentist.  Also, everyone in the waiting room was keeping their distance.

One thing I learned about wearing a mask:  For those of us who are hard of hearing, we, or, at least I, depend on being able to see someone's mouth when they are speaking to me so that I can understand what they are saying.  A hearing aid isn't always as helpful as it could be when trying to understand what is being said to me.  However, when everyone is wearing a mask you can't "see" what they are saying!  I was lost most of the time.  Couldn't understand a lot of what was being said to me and had to ask for things to be repeated often.  Getting old is embarrassing and very isolating.

I envy those of you who can open your windows to the fresh air.  It has been so humid here these past few days that it wouldn't be possible to do that.  The weather news tells us that we are supposed to have drier air come in this afternoon.  I'm looking forward to that!

Please take care, All.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  So far today, I'm on schedule.  My bed sheets are in the dryer so I can make up the bed for daughter and SIL.  Since I'm a VERY early riser, they sleep in the bedroom and I occupy the pullout on the sofa when they are here.

Frankie's still sleeping but her doggie has been out and fed and out again and Mickie and I had breakfast and a walk.

I have coffee ready to turn on for Frankie whenever she gets up.  And we're going to make a trip to Goodwill this morning to drop off some stuff.

I hope the lilacs are blooming and the birds are singing while you pile wood, AMY!

GLORIA, good the eye is better!

PHYLLIS, that's amazing about the tooth.  I wonder what the prediction is for how long that will last.  We have a lot of wet and a lot of action in our mouths.

SHIRLEY, I don't think you need pet protection for yourself but there are bug bite preventers for people!

Gotta get moving.  I'm going to do a practice run in the car this morning to see if I'm up to driving.  I've kind of enjoyed not having to do that  and only once or twice missed it.

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good Morning,

Shirley, I have the same issue with itchy bites!  All I have to do is walk across the back yard or step into the mulch in the flower beds and the "no-see-ums" attack! Spraying myself with Off doesn't prevent but Hydrocortizone cream and After Bite gel help afterwards.  https://afterbite.com/  I can get it in a tube of gel that's rubbed on the bite area.

How did you turn the 6:00 a.m. alarm ON? Could you reverse that to turn it Off?  Or reset it to a later time?
My clock/radio has a tiny dial to set the alarm to either "radio" or "buzzer".  Sometimes the housekeeper accidentally pushes it to "buzzer" when she's dusting and I nearly jump out of bed when it goes off the next morning.

Phyllis,  Hooray for the good "tooth fix".  I, too, have issues understanding what people are saying if I can't see their mouths.  Also - there isn't enough room behind my ears for my hearing aids, glasses and mask straps.  So I either have to attach shoestrings to the mask straps and tie it behind my head or do without my hearing aids.  Very annoying!!!!

Gloria,  I sometimes have that film, also.  Eye doctor suggested "shampooing" my eyes with baby shampoo and water "as hot as you can stand".  That helps but waiting it out seems to be the only solution.  Also very annoying!

Janie, you sure are a Busy Bee these days.  I know you're enjoying having the family around.  :smitten:
Your story about driving reminded me of a friend who was at home on oxygen after a long hospital stay.  The oxygen tank had a cord/tube that allowed her to go all around the house and she was slowly working her way from the bedroom to other rooms.  However, she said she wasn't going to let her husband know when she could get to the kitchen.  ;D

Yesterday was a productive and very nice day.  #1 son took me to a business appointment and then to the post office so I could send some certified mail.  We then stopped at Pepperoni Grill and went in for lunch. It had been so long since I'd gone out to eat that I almost forgot how to act in a restaurant.  :D  Another stop at Braum's market and then home.

I've run the little sprinklers in the flower beds and am ready to start on Domestic Duties.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Fabulous Friday.
