Amy

Good morning..

Going to be another fry day here. Neighbour just phoned to ask if I would look after Rex ..  :)

Picking up computer after I go to the pharmacy to see if they found the right med for Kyle. I also have a date with the vacuum and mop.....either that or these floors will get up and walk to the lake!!!

Jane, prayers and good wishes for today. For what you have come through ,this will be a walk in the park for you.
Lloyd, write down what you eat each day and take the list to the Dr next time you go. There may be something your eating that causes your headaches.

Miss Gloria and Phyllis..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, more sunny blue skies here in the Interior! Today, five of us are again going to attempt lunch and a day of shopping. This is the one that we used to do regularly pre-pandemic, and that has been planned, canceled, and replanned this past spring. The ravens have left, and the pigeons, mew gulls, and hawks have returned to the city. And I'm told the bears, wolves, and wood bison are enjoying the summer as we humans hope to do.

Jane, I know about oral surgeons and dental procedures and wish you the very best experience and outcome. It's always good to have replacements, so the rest don't move out of place. I'll be thinking of you today.

Amy, I hope you and Kyle have a better outcome with the new meds. It seems that we have more choices, yet it seems more challenging to find that one to do for us what so many have promised!

Lloyd, I agree that those headaches have a cause with the food, which is probable or a consequence of something you're doing, perhaps while sleeping. I have a friend who, like so many others, cannot eat chocolate, cheese, or drink wine without having a migraine.

I'll hopefully be gone most of the day, so I'm hoping all goes well for everyone and that everyone has a great day!

Unfortunately, both for Archimedes and the townspeople around him, he had forgotten to put on his clothes"

Yay, I am up and running....sort of.

Turned out it was my monitor that  was out of whack (techicnal term here ) The tech gave me  one to try out and it seems to work perfect so far.

Town was a can of worms, since we are in a tourist cottage area we get them all on Fri, traffic is bumper to bumper at times. I did pick up the new med and Kyle will start it tomorrow morning. Sure hope this works and doesn't cause any problems.

Patricia, I do hope this one doesn't cause any side effects on him. He will be closely monitored by me :))  I got a chukle out of Archimedes!!

Better go see what mischeif I can get out of doing. :coolsmiley:

Hello All.  It was a bunch easier than I thought it would be...not exactly a "walk in the park" as AMY suggested maybe along the outside limits of the park!  It was numb when I left the office and still bleeding a bit but by mid afternoon it had stopped bleeding and the swelling was going down.  The worst part of all of it was that I had absolutely no control over my mouth with the numbness caused by the surgery on one side and now this numbness on tha other side.  I carried around a small hand towel and wiped my mouth often.  It's better now.  I took two Tylenol as the numbness wore off and will take two more before I hit the haystack.  It wasn't half as bad as I expected!  Thank you all for thinking of me and for the prayer.  I'm sure they worked!

Now I'm going to hit the haystack a bit early tonight and tomorrow is another day.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Glad you are better tonight, Jane... nothing worse than part of your head in pain at night, takes over the sleep & half dreams. You do have my sincere sympathy, I'd rather have open heart surgery than those visits to the dentist.

Amy, sounds like you have a good computer repair person. When the monitor on my laptop went out my son connected the larger external monitor that Cas had bought years ago with his first laptop. It is still doing it's job on that poor old computer downstairs. Computer is real fragile (remember Vista?) so only time I use it is for the few things I learned how to do with PSP. I wouldn't let it update to whatever came next because I never got the later versions of PSP to work.

Hope Gloria gets back with us soon, so happy Yvette is back.

Patricia, have fun on your vacation out.  It does feel like we've been in solitary confinement for a long time, doesn't it?

Lloyd, I learned when I click the "post button" that I scroll all the way down & so often will find someone else slipped one in.... but if you click POST a 2nd time, it will show up & be saved!

Busy day here. My daughter is in town so racing between visiting with her grands & taking care of appointments she stopped by here & we headed out to find a heavy clay pot for the hibiscuis, I tried every way to anchor it down but kept blowing over in our wind. Fixed it up good this time with her help. She's been dying to check out the new battery powered Toro lawn mower & mowed half the front yard. Worked up a sweat, she did! Hope son will get over tomorrow to see if I need a new pump for the pool or just a new O ring, turned it off overnight because the cottonwood trees are blowing their cotton so much right now I was afraid the skimmer basket would be so clogged and couldn't get water through & burn out the pump. I'm afraid the pump has served it's time, about 10 years old, same as the furnace & AC. The guy came this morning for the summer check up on it, washed out the big unit outside & tested all the working stuff. Like a dummy I forgot to see what he left  the thermostat sitting on until I found myself freezing. Still have a few jobs to do outside, putting away, so better get a move on before it's too dark. Think we have a nice crop of mosquitoes this year so better spray me first!

Sweet dreams and God Bless. Love y'all.  Tisie/Shirley

Amy

Good morning..

Nice  here this morning with the treat of rain. After the hot weather this temp of 41° is easy to take.

Laundry day here, a load of wood coming .we always ask for the self piling wood but to no avail. We do a bit at a time, not do it in about 2-3 days like we used to do. We will burn wood this winter and use up the oil in the tank then cross over to propane.

Bubble, thank you for posting the luna for me..

Jane, happy to read everything went well and hope your mouth is not sore today.

Shirley, this is the first time I have went to this fellow. My other guru retired and he was good! He could fix my puter over the phone as he had access to it. His health failed and now he has a well deserved retirement. I resent the mosquitos trying to help out.... they are not too bad here now and the blackflies have almost gone. Drangonflies are out now so they will take care of the mosquitos.

Better get ready for the truck..(nice young man both him and his wife are hard workers)

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

I didn't know dragonflies ate mosquitoes, Amy! Live & learn (yes, I did google & found they are very good at it). Thanks for the tip. Neat shot of the Luna moth, will have to see if they ever show up around here, I've never seen one before.  Your computer guy that could fix from a distance must be how Andy had mine set up, I could watch as he moved stuff around. Maybe Gloria's gr-son could do that & she wouldn't be waiting for him to visit. It doesn't take much to "throw me off" my routine these days.

Got to call my son to let him know I'm up... attem just ain't movin' too good yet. Got a lot of jobs for him lined up, poor guy, he has so many people to take care of!

Need to get back to the laundry & try out that new dryer, haven't had to think about settings & what to do after using that old one 55 years. I knew how many minutes it took to dry any load without thinking!

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfrien!  I didn't sleep very well last night but it wasn't the tooth (or lack thereof) that kept me awake.  It was very cold (down in the low 40s) overnight and I just wasn't ready for that.  The place where the tooth was doesn't hurt at all this morning.  Later, I'm going to try eating something with some substance and see how it goes.

SHIRLEY, it sounds like you have a busy day ahead!  Don't wear yourself to a frazzle!

AMY, that was a lot of "bug" info you gave us!  Interesting!

I stripped Frankie's bed this morning after she left for work.  I think Cindy is arriving from OK on Monday and she'll occupy the bed.  My suitcases can go into the back of her car and they'll be out of the way and I can work on the food!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning! I had a lovely day yesterday, and we had so much fun laughing and catching up. We probably made several places' bottom line and had a nice lunch at the Traveler's Inn, a hotel dining room where we, I'm sure, provided comic relief for the other diners.

Traffic on the east side of town was horrendous from the Steese closure. I knew there were detours, we had some in front of this building, but it was bumper to bumper in the eastern shopping area. To give those who've visited a reference, the Steese is the main highway coming into Fairbanks from the southeast.

I came home at nine PM and did a brief check-in to see how everyone was doing.

Good morning, Lloyd!

Jane, I'm so glad everything went well for you at the dentist's. I need to see if any are open and make an appointment. My dentist retired, and it is hard finding a new one. The majority of dentists, doctors, and other medical personnel are almost all retired military from the many local bases. Plus, that insurance scam where you have to choose from their list of providers is illegal in the state. So, it's attractive to them.

Amy, I didn't know that dragonflies ate mosquitos. If so, they're not doing their job here. We have a small black bird with underwing white that we've always called a mosquito hawk. I don't know its actual name, but the tiny bird annihilates those pests. Your luna moth photo was perfect, and I admit I'm jealous.

I've never heard of self-stacking wood. Several people have wood stoves along the edges of the city and around the university, where students can rent inexpensive places with outhouses and woodburning stoves. Every once in a while, a proposition comes up to ban them outside the city limits as they are inside because of pollution and air quality issues, but it never passes. Winter is the only time we make the EPA's lousy list due to wood smoke, car exhaust, and several other pollutants combining and freezing to make ice fog.

I'm glad you have your computer back.

Shirley, yes, it was an excellent "vacation!" And we hope to start doing it regularly and a few picnics, barbeques, and poker parties like we had pre-pandemic.

I did all my laundry and general housekeeping on Wednesday, so I could have no excuses for staying out yesterday. I had a time settling down to sleep last night as I was still revved up. This morning was the first time in two years that there were no available texts and calls other than a few self-congratulatory ones over our outing. We want to schedule another one soon or make it another regular outing.

Gloria

Hello everyone. Gee if I had known what to do I would have been here all week. Grandson was here and racked his brain to figure out why no mouse would work. He finally tried a different port and guess what. The port he had plugged into originally was on the front of the tower. Now it is plugged into what I call a pigtail. Last PC did  not have ports for every thing we plug into PC's so I bought don't remember the right name for it is with 7 places to plug into. Now he said he will be getting in touch with Dell and ask them to fix this PC or refund money paid for it. I have had it since December 1 2021. The company  he works for uses nothing but Dells so he knows a lot about them.
If that company had trouble with them like with this one and got rid of all of them Dell sure would hurt. They have a little over 100 of them GrSon told me today.

AMY  at one time my older son was collecting butterflies One night when my in-laws had stopped by we were outside saying good night to them and my son got excited and when he turned around he was holding a Luna Moth by the legs in his fingers. He was excited and I was surprised at how big it was and the shade of green.

I did a lot or reading all week, almost every thing I have on the Kindle. Will have to get more books soon.

Yvette was here at Noon on Tuesday and for most of the time she was here we sat an talked, had 6 months to catch up on. And she sure is a talker and I am happy she did not lose her sense of humor, we sure laughed a lot.
I did tell her about you asking about her and welcoming you back.

I have been using my cell phone on face time to talk to Regina all week so today will be able to use the PC and Skype. Much bigger than the small screen on the phone.
After the hours grson was here I need a nap now so I will be awake later for Skype.
I will try to catch up on some of the posts this past week.
Have a good day and stay safe.

I am here to say "Good Night, Sweet Dreams and may the Good Lord Bless and Keep You"... song in there but I don't think that is quite right.

Have not been able to start the generator this week (motorhome) & have done that faithfully once a month... so pretty sure it is the "house battery" problem. Had a new battery put in the driving part of vehicle & they did a quick check on the house one but said it was okay, and I knew it was not... so now when I take it to them to check air in the tires on Monday I will get to buy another battery. This is not funny!!! I reminded my son that I bought a new battery every year when we go to Colorado, one year earlier so within the one year warranty & think got it free once. It's been 2 years so won't/shouldn't complain, just don't want it to die when I'm in a campground.

Son put the new pressure gauge on the pool pump, got it primed & today I don't need a whole new pump!  He mowed the other side of front yard & back yard with the little Toro instead of John Deere.... they really like the new toy. What I like is no maintenance, just charge & use. It will go as fast or slow as one wants & would have done the entire yard on one charge except yesterday daughter & I played with it too much. It lacked only 2 strips across the back & would have easily done it if we had not goofed so much yesterday. Then he wanted to see if he could get the generator started (he did) but it wouldn't stay running with a totally dead house battery that wouldn't charge. One of those days that go from "OH, NO" to "YES!!!" in the same breath.

Glad to see you back, Gloria. I'm so tired tonight & still have my Sat. night shower & wash hair, set clothes out for early morning church & breakfast. Maybe a nap tomorrow, I sure need to do some catch up. Clothes dryer works nice & quiet & a loud enough beep to let me know when it was done.

So, 'night, ALL. Love ya, Shirley

Shirley

Woke up to a doozie of a storm again about 3:00am so got up about 4:00 to get a bite to eat, give Tiger a bowl of milk and dress for church. I will get a nap today, sometime! Can't tell for sure, still raining a little, but looks like an inch of rain. The grass & trees will appreciate it.

Gee, Gloria, you sound very happy today.   Your world is shaping up, huh?

Better get a move on, the microwave is beeping at me to get my mug of hot water out for a cup of instant Folger's. Wishing every friend a Super Sunday (thanks, Callie).

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I went to sleep on the couch again last night and when I woke up, I did the "getting ready for bed" stuff and then went to bed!  Forgot one "getting ready for bed" thing....checking out here!  And now I have to go do my "getting ready for church" stuff this morning!  I'll try to check in later.

SHIRLEY, sounds like you're getting your battery-operating things...operating!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good Morning everyone. well this computer is outof date, not changing date.it has a date stated a day sooner than it is , this date is sunday @ 5;50 A M. here is a health tip for you, if you are troubled with high blood sugar, eat beats will lower it quickley. but not too low. my brother in AZ. told me about it and it works. he said a smal jar , I will have to call him back to day and get brand and size.

Lloyd

Amy

Good morning...

A day of rest here..

No rain today but Mon ,Tue are going to give us some.

Managed to finsih the cancer quilt so can more on to another project..just need to figure out which one.

Shirley, dargonflies eat a lot of mosquitos but also bats do. Bat eat up their weight in mosquitos.Report say 1200 an hour. Can't help but wonder who did that study??

https://www.nature.org/en-us/about-us/where-we-work/united-states/arizona/stories-in-arizona/top-10-bat-facts/

Lloyd, there are a lot of foods that will put your blood sugar up. I can potatoes and the startch which is the enemy  for diabetics comes out of the potato and they are not as bad as eating them fresh. You have and Nancy has a new learning curve when it comes to eating and making meals. Not easy but it can be done.

Patricia, it is fun to get out with friends and have a wonderful time. Lots of laughter is good for the soul.

Gloria, it is so good to see you back. We are just as happy to see you as you were to see Yvette.

Better get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone, lazy getting started today. Don't know what day to start reading from. Went to the first and loved Bobbie's Help Wanted. She would have needed a lot mor help with money to take off on her travels these days. Almost $5. a gallon for gas here today. Glad I do not have a car anymore, only a few in the parking lot go out every day, the rest have not moved in more than a week.
With Monday being a holiday and Yvette coming on Tuesday the week was mixed up for me. when she left Friday I thought it was Thursday because the last several months I had no help on Fridays.  Hope next week I get my days straight again.

SHIRLEY  god thing you hung up on that caller. The government will never call you-as if they have everyone's number to call- they will send a letter. To many trying to get rich fast stealing others hard earned money. I never answer a phone till I check the answering machine to see the caller.

AMY  gone are the days of the General Practitioner who did every thing for their patients. Now all internists who do nothing much but send you to one specialist after another  and not get to know you. They treated whole families from babies to the elderly. The doctor we had one time when my oldest son -4th grade at the time was on the verge of rheumatic fever from a Staph throat and he came to the house every morning before 7am to check on him. He did that even on the weekend for almost 2 weeks. My son says now he does not remember that. He will be 71 next month. boy am I OLD!

I was lucky I bypassed Vista. I loved XP, even learned how to make stationery with the windows email with that.  I heard bad things about Vista and as soon as they started talking about Windows 7 I preordered it and got the disk in just about the time they stopped keeping XP safe. I had no trouble with 7. I started PSP with 8 thanks to our "Picture Lady" from Missouri. Bunnie talked me into downloading the trial to try it. What really got me into PSP was going to that folder in SN and seeing the lighthouse with the light beam moving around. That was from Agnes who lived in NH. I could not believe at first that animation could be done on a home computer. I sure asked Agnes and Bunnie a lot of questions back then. I started sending emails to people I never knew. Window 10 I never had a problem with but this new Dell has 10 and 11 nd I would love to get rid of 11. I like some games like Klondike Solitaire and jigsaw puzzles and Mah Jong and a few others. The ones I bought I downloaded  to my external drive and from there installed. it is the free ones I had I cannot find now. My grandson knows a lot of places to download the games I like so am waiting till he can come here with a bit more time to get things installed. Not interested in  the 11 games or movies one has to pay for. I have Pluto installed so can watch a lot of movies I grew up watching, some of the musicals and comedies from the 1940's I enjoyed, nothing teaching us a lesson back in those war years, we needed the ones that could give us a chuckle and not all war movies. Some of those were great because we needed to know what our family members were going through.

JANE  after what happened to me with the last 2 teeth I had out I and afraid to go to a dentist. I do not want anymore anti biotics and I have to take 4 before going to the office because I have something foreign in my body-my right shoulder replacement. Of course the last 8 that need to come out are in the front. That office is about 4 or 5 miles from here. We sed to have 6 doctors in town and now all we have are Nurse Practioners but is a way they are better than one doctor I had who when I asked a question walked out of the room and would come back 10 minutes later saying he would see me in 3 months.

LLOYD  when I was years younger I wanted to get an RV with every thing in it and travel all over this beautiful country of hours. Like many other people it was a dream never meant to come true.

PATRICIA  the dentist that took out most of the teeth except the last 2 retired the week before the new one-a foreign woman-went overboard with antibiotics. I am sure everyone here is tired of hearing how that turned out. I have heard of others that are good but I am not getting anyone traveling to the other end of the state. I get stiff and achy just going to my grandson's home and that is half an hour from here.

LLOYD  when I do eat a good meal I always have a few slices of pickled beets. Not because they are healthy but because I like them. Amy is right about white potatoes. When I was told by a doctor I went to that I was diabetic I looked up online about food and then testing my blood every day I found every time I ate something white flour the reading went up. Started only eating sweet potatoes, brown rice, rye bread-I know they all say wheat bread but so not like that taste. Only half a cup of pasta. Even now that a different doctor told me I was never diabetic I find I eat less pasta and not many sandwiches anymore, seldom have toast. Wonder if that is how I lost so much weight was by not eating the high carb foods. I still love my ice cream and chocolate candy.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyone from the pleasantly
warm  (not HOT) and clear Rocky
Coast of Maine.    IMHO,
June is the absolute BEST month
here in Maine.

"Nothing so Rare as a Day in June"
as that old saying goes.

This has been a very good week
for me.  I have kept my nose
off the News and concentrated on
finishing up my final preparations
for my "end of life issues" ...

Never fear.  I am fine and expect to live
many more years,  but because I was
gifted a significant amount of money
by  two of my best friends,  I have been
able to purchase a cemetery lot, and purchased
a marble container for my ashes and Thursday
went with Kelly to order and purchase my
head stone.    Soon my lot will be
ready for the day when my ashes in a marble
container can be installed on the lot.

I got to  pick out my own head stone which
is all shiny black with my info and my four
children's names written on it.

My kids names (for information only)
that I am their Mother.  My greatest
achievement in life.

Who says you can't take it with you?
Their four names will be on the back of
my headstone.

I feel really lucky to  be able to
plan what I would like to have on
my final resting place.

Plus the relief in knowing that all of
this planning is over and done with and not
left for kids to have to worry about  when
my day comes to say good bye.

Everything is bought and and paid for with only
a little left for the kids to concern them selves with.

It did take a lot of worry and planning on my
part but the people that I had to deal with were
so very very helpful and kind in helping
me tidy up the plans.

So I have no complaints this week
those will have to wait until after
the glow of a job well done,  leaves me.

Have a good week,  EVERYONE,
Sandy

Thinking ahead, too, Sandy! When Cas died the only thing he requested was cremation, he loved this place so asked for his ashes to be spread down by the river. Told him NO to that, I think everyone needs a marker of some kind to show "we've lived". Mine won't be as grand as yours but will include photos of special happenings during my life.  I checked out the cemetery nearest where 2 of our kids live, picked a niche in the mausoleum down low so I could see inside, paid for the joining one for me, bought matching urns & put all the recipts inside MY urn with instructions for my kids. I decorated the space for Cas & the kids helped me put it together. Since it cost (back then) $500 to open & seal on top of cost of niche, I wanted to make sure we were satisfied with how it looked. I did not pay for my cremation "just in case a bear got me out camping", hey, could happen".  Seriously, on the chance I die when traveling the body would be cremated before transporting back here to Wichita. The kids were pleased with the location, looked all around at names they were familiar with having gone all through school nearby. Like you, Sandy, I don't plan to move in for a long time (God willing).

Brighter side, I've been thrilled today to discover my fav robin is building her 2nd nest of the summer on one of the light fixtures in the pool area. Her mother did the same (I am sure she was born here since she will hang over the roof edge to sass me if I don't get her scrambled hamburger out fast enough!) Because her mother built her nests all around this house so she could see when I brought food out, I've enjoyed watching the process of small twigs & the mud filler, then she gets down into the bottom & rubs her breast to smooth & press the mud in. When she is done for the day she heads to the big clamshell birdbath (that sits on the ground instead of on a pedestal) to clean up. They really do work hard. Dads take the young off to feed them until they learn to pick up food for themselves. Well, I like watching out the window better than TV!

Sweet dreams to all, God Bless.  :xoxo:

Having "final arrangements made
has lifted a great weight off of my shoulders...

Mostly for the people that are left behind.
I have a place for everyhing and everything in
its place  now  lol....
Just as far as final arrangements are concerned.

oh happy day

Hello Everyfriend!  After all I just read, I'm wondering if I should say "goodbye" instead of "hello"?  What do y'all think?  My arrangements are made too but I didn't need to "buy" my space.  I'm going into the church garden next to my kid sister.  Of course, there's arrangements for a "donation" to the church because they do not charge for the space.  Isn't this fun?

Now I'm about to hit the haystack because Cooper will be arriving a bit before 7 a.m. tomorrow and Cindy will be arriving from Okla. around noon or so!  She's with her daughter in West Chester, PA tonight.  I have one suitcase completely packed and another one partway.  My bathroom box is almost full and waiting for stuff like eye drops and prescriptions and my toothbrush.

PATRICIA, you had a great time with your friends!  I almost felt like I was there, too!

I'm going to have Cindy run me to the store while she's here to pick up some last minute stuff and get a haircut and she wants to make a trip to Davy's for some stuff they only sell around here.  We're gonna have a busy week.  And I've been wondering to myself if the car trip is going to be wearying to this old lady.  I guess we can stop and walk around every now and then and I'm not afraid to as them to do that!  All that sitting will be tiring.  I'm taking my pillow so I can sleep if I want to.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!  And may he offer his hand to all who need it!  All you need to do is ask!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning to you, LLOYD!  We're having typical SPRING weather right now...low temps at night, medium to high during the day.  Last night during the night it got down to the low 40s and today it will make it to the high 70s.  This usually begins happening in late April to early May.  Weather patterns are sure changing around here.

Cooper has arrived and has eaten his breakfast so I better go get my shoes on and take him for his first walk of the day.  I think I need a sweater to do that.  It's still chilly out there.

When I get back, it's paper work and bill paying time!  This is my most hated job of all!  But it has to be done!

Then Cindy should be here around noon!  Hooray!  I love it when the kids show up!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

P.S.  Good Morning to you, too, AMY!  You beat me here!

Good morning everyone. One of those mornings when I woke with a film over my right eye. Wish that would happen on a day when I have an appointment with  the eye doctor. that I have the 29th. Right now hard to type and see what I am doing. Too bad I do not have a patch for the eye that is very blurry.
I read every thing but too hard to see the keys to type. I an not able to hit the right keys if I don't watch what I am doing.

Have a good day and stay safe.
