Remember when

Remember when I was young and so were you
And time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when

Remember when we vowed the vows and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when

Remember when the sound of little feet
Was the music we danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are, where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when

Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when

Remember when
Remember when

Help wanted
Bobbie Gould

I saw a sign in the store today
When I stopped to buy some bread.
A little sign that we see every day,
"Help Wanted" was all it said.

As the clerk came forward to wait on me
I pointed to the door.
"Got one of those that I can hang
In the window of my store?"

"What kind of business do you have?"
She asked me with a smile.
"I know someone who's looking for work,
They could be there in a while."

"I'm in the business of living," said I,
"And things are pretty rough.
My costs are up and my incomes down
And times are just plain tough."

I paid for the bread and left the store thinking,
"Little does she know.
I wasn't kidding the least little bit
About needing some help to go."

I thought about that Help Wanted sign
Throughout the drive back home
And how nice it would be to advertise
Those needs we don't let known.

Imagine the ads we'd find in the pages
Of our local classified.
Ads from the hearts that are broken and sore,
Ads meant to catch the eye.

"Help Wanted--A shoulder to cry on
When the going gets too tough.
Help Wanted--someone to rely on and
Who's there when I've had enough."

"The pay isn't good and the hours are long.
I can't offer fortune or fame.
The benefits don't cover doctors and such,
You may even be sorry you came."

"But help is what I need right now
And I'll yell it loud and wide.
HELP WANTED!...Is there anyone who cares
And is willing to come to my side?"

Grandma's Button Jar

Grandma had a button Jar,
she always kept it in a draw.
When we all went to visit her,
that's what we headed for.

We took some games along with us,
to play with our Grandma,
But some how, we just never did.
for we loved those buttons in her jar.

We played for hours with those buttons,
such excitement and so much pleasure.
For in the imagination of us kids,
It was indeed Aladdin's treasure.

Now we are old, our kids grown up.
now with children of their own.
Each has played with the buttons in this jar ,
For as long as we have known .

It is simply just amazing,
how many memories there are.
In something plain and simple,
Like grandma's button jar.

I wonder if she's watching ,
From heaven up above.
for as well as buttons in that jar,
she also shrouded it with love.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I came in this morning and found a whole new, clean and beautiful Soda Shoppe!  Thank for that, BUBBLE!  I'll have coffee and a few cookies while I'm here!

SHIRLEY, how long did it take your hose to extend fully?  I had the water turned on in mine for a half hour or more and it only made it to 15 feet out of a possible 50!  Seems like it shouldn't take that long.  And there was water seeping out of the hose where it was connected to the faucet.  I don't think it should do that either!  I guess I'll be OK today.  It's supposed to rain and maybe Cathy will stop there tomorrow when we're out shopping!

AMY, I sure wish that Rescue Remedy WAS mine!  I'd be a wealthy woman by now!  But I do know how good it works!  My dogs hid under my desk when fireworks went off or it thundered loud.  Mickie even jumped off the bed at night and hid in the bathroom!  But only until Rescue Remedy entered our lives.  And it works just as well on humans who get overly excited.

Now I have to get started with my day!  So far, my arms don't hurt from carrying buckets but we shall see!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Amy, best of news for Kyle's check up, said a little prayer for him & you just now. I do think we all catch our breath when any of us have a day of doubt, good to check it out. Does this mean a stop at the chocolate & cheese places?  Will it take long to get results? The unknown can be so stressful. (((hugs)))

Not sure how much rain we got at my house, the pool is running over again. Starting to get light so will check the rain gauge soon. Had street flooding overnight, some hail but no serious damage around here as far as I've heard on morning news. More rain today!

The wind has the trees rockin' already. Daughter made it in yesterday before the heavy rain started, men delivered & set up the dryer (gee, it's pretty after seeing avacado green for 55 years), new little TV is performing as it should and the grass is growing like crazy so one job that will be endless until the first hard freeze in the fall. I am ready to go back to winter, how about you, Gloria? I'm gonna have breakfast & back to bed. Big job for the day is getting some water out of the pool, vacuum the bottom & get the chlorine level back to pretty!

Week sure going fast with a holiday, don't remember it being so confusing when I was younger. Speaking of younger, thanks for all the goodies & cleaning up the homestead, Bubble. Hope all is well in your world. My great grands are all out of school for the summer and was wondering if Aviv has "year around" schools. When I was on an advisory board of the school when my 3 were young, I did a lot of research about the benefits of kids going all year with shorter vacations 3 or 4 times a year instead of all at once. I still think it would be a good idea but not going to start with our part of the world.

Wishing a peaceful and content day for all. Have you noticed how many people are smiling now that the smiles aren't hidden behind a mask?  At least we don't see a lot of masks around here. I carry one all the time, just in case too many humans in one spot.

Light enough to see the colors outside & the pool water has turned green overnight from all that thunder & lightning. Never knew for sure which zaps the chlorine out but never fails. Was such a pretty blue before the storm hit last night. Rain gauge has almost 4" in it and I empited before rain started last evening. Jobs await!

Oops, you slipped in, Jane. With mine it depends on how open the valve is for how long it takes to fill the hose. Don't squeeze that nozzle until it is full length.
First one I bought (Amazon) split from the brass at the connect so was sent a new one & note in the box said "they personally checked the new one". I will buy from that company again. I do bring mine in after using (pain in the neck) but hope it lasts longer. I've had it 4 or 5 years, I think. Good luck!

Is there a "hose washer" in the connection at the faucet?.  There should be or it will leak.  If it leaks, it will not allow full pressure in the hose.

Good morning all from a sunny blue Interior!

Bubble, I agree with everyone; what a fantastic job you always do for us! Thank you.

I looked up "Remember When," it was written by Alan Jackson and released in 1991. It's a lovely song. And Bobby was so right in her poem!

Okay, folks, got a question for everyone.... I just had a call from "Medicare"... a voice I could hardly understand. He said my name, asked if I still live as this address and explained that I would be receiving a new Medicare card soon and he was going to "de-activate" the old number. He wanted me to have my card in hand to verify the numbers. Told him NO, he insisted HE would read me the numbers and I explained with my sassy voice that "I will not verify ANY numbers over the phone". Then I hung up on him after saying, "I will check with Medicare"... Have any of you ever had a call like that?  I'm going to try to call Medicare to see if we really are getting new cards, doesn't seem like that long ago we got them replaced (but my sense of time is gone since Covid). I'll let you know if & when I get through to Medicare. I had just walked into the house from a grocery run, grapes, celery & some of those round/thin/sandwich thingies. Never know who will stop by to eat & could feed an army with all the chicken & noodles plus the chicken salad that gets thrown together today.

Lloyd, have you ever paid attention of what you ate the day before the super headaches? About 35-40 years ago I kept having headaches & a couple times a year the doctor would give me a prescription for antibiotic for "chronic sinusitis". We were moving to KC from Wichita so I knew a different doctor might not be as willing to do the same thing. Started paying attention & discovered every headache came after eating meats or cheeses (and that included pizza, hotdogs, bacon etc).. it was the nitrites & nitrates. I totally cut all that out for a year, NO HEADACHES. Then I tried a couple slices of bacon and almost to the minutes 24 hours later, head was throbbing. So now when I do indulge I know why the headache (some times it's worth it) but now & then (if not too often) I can eat a little and get away with it.  Talked with a woman having the same problems and her doctor was going to do the whole head exam to see why. She tried quitting the preservatives and it worked. Since that time I have read tests "have confirmed for some people the blood vessels in the head can swell & cause headaches because of preservatives". Sure is hard to give up bacon, ham and all that good stuff.

Thinking of you today, Amy.

Shirley, thank you for the prayers. This is going to be a long ordeal I think.Tomorrow we will have a phone app. with the Dr. I have already talked with Kyle's rheumatologist and it is a wait for others to follow up.
I can also vouch for food causing headaches, since Kyle cut back on the chocolate and cheese his headaches have disappeared.

Shirley, Shirley, Shirley!!!  Surely you know better than to believe that kind of phone call!  Medicare, IRS and other government entities will never ask for private information that way. Thank goodness you didn't fall for it

Jane and Rammel,  I have one of the "stretchy" hoses and it also drips at the faucet.  Son says it's because the connection is loose and there's no way to tighten the hose fabric. So I just put up with it.  Be sure to keep the sprinkler head open when you turn the water off so the remaining water can drain out.  I water the pots on the patio until there's no more coming out of the sprinkler.

Amy, I'm so sorry that Kyle is having more issues and hope the rheumatologist and other "ists" can help.

I was planning to do some desk work - partly on-line - this morning when the power suddenly went off.
Neighbor came home from errands and couldn't get into her house because, of course, the garage door wouldn't go up and she locks all her screens.  She said power was on in other parts of town.
Although I hadn't seen a flash nor heard thunder, a lightning strike apparently knocked it off in this immediate area.
We had a nice visit until it came back on about an hour later.  :)

Happy June Oneth, Everyone.

Callie, my issue wasn't that I ever planned to give him ANY information, he knew my name, my address and evidentally, my Medicare number and while I didn't give him a chance to read off that number, the fact he already had all the other info shocked me.  I DID call Medicare, talked to a nice lady that agreed it was a scam & wanted my Medicare number to attach to the complaint. I was even leary about giving her my number and I called her!

Did I mention that the one expandable hose I bought leaked at the connect, no matter what I did & it wasn't a gasket problem. I notified them, (the company, not Amazon) received a return label and they sent a new one. I was impressed that one of the men listed as manager/owner of the company sent me a note saying he personally checked out the connection. I do love how this long dude works, takes forever to drain it competely after use. I do what you said, except water the bird bowls instead of pots. My hibiscus & petunia pots get Brita pitcher water, too much chlorine in the city water to use it  unfiltered.

Amy, my daughter also has a problem with chocolate & cheese. Do hope all the wood work doesn't have to end (in Cas' case, hammering aggravated his joints so he used screws & power drill instead). It would break his heart to not be able to build his trugs and I've loved reading about  his projects.

The birds are starting to do their happy dance now, sun is shining! Gotta get busy...

Wonder what would have happened if you had asked him to tell you the number he had so you could verify it with the number on your card?  Bet you would have gotten a quick disconnect!!   :evil3:

I don't answer any calls unless there's a specific ID.  Don't like that so many doctor's offices are now using a calling service that doesn't i.d. the exact office.  I get one appointment reminder that comes from a number in Missouri!

I suspect the hose leak is my fault.  I have a bad habit of jerking the hose as I'm stretching it to reach the farthest pots from the faucet.  Now that I have a new bird bath - I'm also filling it with the runoff.

We had about 3 minutes of sun this afternoon.  I hate having to turn on the lights in mid-afternoon when sunset isn't until 8:30.

Onward and Upward.

Hello Everyfriend!  AMY, I'm going to do this first so I don't forget again.  I want you to know that Kyle is in my prayers.  I hope all goes well!

I called the local hardward store where I bought the hose and when I told them my 50 footer never got past 15 feet they said to bring in for an exchange.  So tomorrow that's on our list.

I picked up a phone call today without looking and it was one of those "Grammaw" calls.  In the first place, my grandkids don't call me "Grammaw" they call me Grammy!  And this voice definitely was not related to me.  I said "Who are you?" and he answered "Don't you know who it is, Grammaw?".  I said I didn't and he told me he was my grandson.  I said "I don't think so" and he said "Don't you know me?"  I said, "First off, where's your accent?"  And he hung up on me!  I just stood and laughed aloud!

Now I'm heading for the haystack because Cooper arrives EARLY tomorrow morning!  I still have a couple things to finish up and then it's out for the night!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!  And may He look after Kyle and anyone else who needs him!

Good morning..

Voting day here in Canada, can't complain if one doesn't vote.

Need to pick up ?? for the lightening in the garage and I will do the installing....could be a shocking job. :))
I cheated and brought home wings and salads for supper last night and have more than enough for 2-3 meals! Dr will call today and I have no idea on when the other one will phone , just wait and see. Remember when you could go to one Dr and he could "fix" you up?

Callie and Jane, thank you. I am sure we will get through this just one more bump in the road.

Shirley, Kyle does use screws plus he has air equipment. He was aiming for 100 trugs but has shortened that now.

Jane , lately we have been getting a lot of robo calls...annoying to say the least. When I do get a human I ask them if their mom is proud of them for scamming people .....click.

Better get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe....hope I get my puter back soon.

AMY, I like your question to the scammer!  I wish you a good phone call from the Dr.  And yes, I do remember Dr. Degling right up around the corner from our house!  And that's the only place we had to go when we had a health problem.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning from another sunny with blue skies Interior! We dodged a wildfire bullet yesterday with rain on the lower slopes of the Alaska Range, and cooler temperatures prevail. We had 61 for a low and expect a high of 77. The last two days had similarly expected highs and ended up in the lower eighties.

Nothing is going on here but laundry, pickup chores, and finishing some calls and emails. Friday, we will reattempt our delayed lunch and shopping trip, so everyone has their fingers crossed.

I never knew a period of house calls. I was born during the polio epidemic during an iron lung shortage. It was a busy time for anyone with any medical training, so doctor visits were when necessary, and family did most doctoring. We were still a territory and wouldn't become a state for eight more years.

Looking back on what I just wrote, that sounds eerily familiar.

My daughter went to college with a girl that "went on to med school" when daughter went on the extra year for engineering. Both are on a board at the college so see each other often. Both retired about the same time & the doctor said she just wasn't happy with Medicare making them send people on to specialists instead of allowing them to take care of the "whole body". So blame it on the gov!!!  When I was a kid & had whooping cough, measles & ended up with pneumonia & empyema a drain in my lung, our old doctor would stop by the house on his way to the hospital to check the drain. I was about 2 years old & remember now & then they'd have to call me out of the tree for him to check the drain. Poor Mom, she tried to keep me clean long enough for him to get there!

Got the pool vacuumed & back flushed but the big O ring in the pump needs silicone or greased or new ring... so will try silicone first. If it ain't one thing 'tis another. Need to trim my hair before I shower & wash it. Pool color is perfect right now! I have the door wide open, someone is mowing across the river. I'd love a couple hours sleep but no time. I have the motorhome slide out & awning open so the rain that seeped through to the rolled up canvas parts gets a chance to dry out. Also have it plugged in & will run the generator for a while to keep it lubed up. One thing at a time!

Praying for good news for Kyle.... and like Janie said, "anybody else that needs..."

Patricia, one of the twin boys next door had polio but didn't need the iron lung. He had to sit on the front porch a lot for fresh air (no TV back then) and now & then I would go play with him a while. He was nearer age of my youngest brother & his parents bought him lots of toys so was nice to me when nobody else around!  :bash:

It wasn't the government so much as the rise of big business, particularly insurance and pharmacies. They were able to succeed in making it difficult to fix either industry. The majority of American drugs are sold here at three and four times the cost of the same drug in other countries.

The day has not been dull, of course there never is a dull day here. Dr phoned and after I explained  he ordered Kyle new meds. Phoned the pharmacy and the lady said ,yes they did get the fax but they don't have or anyone else for that matter the meds. She contacted the Dr to see if he had an alternative med. Still waiting to hear back on that. In the mean time Kyle had to talk with a man that was inquiring about trugs. He usually leave that up to me but I was on phone with Dr.
Good news is I pick up my computer tomorrow!!! YES!!! I am thankful I do have other means to get on the internet but prefer my computer.......not the laptop nor the tablet.
Jane, I cooked hamburgers in the air fryer and will definitely do that again.

Yep!  Air Fryer Hamburgers are goooood!  Frankie was here for supper.  We had a slice of country smoked ham, scalloped potatoes and baked beans.  I'm having ice cream later for dessert.

I'll probably check in tomorrow morning but I might not make it the rest of the day.  I have an appointment with an oral surgeon to have a very bad tooth removed.  I don't know if I'll be put out to do it or what.  My regular dentist said it wasn't something he could do and sent me to the oral surgeon.  So if I don't show up, I'm just recuperating!  Frankie is going to spend the night here just in case....

Now I'm going to go collapse on the couch in front of the TV.  It's been a very tiring day! And just in case, I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one. And may He watch over everyone who needs Him!

JaneS,  -  An oral surgeon is the way to go. That's what they do. I had an oral surgeon remove one and do all the work for an implant --- and no pain. They know just where and how to numb the area. FWIW - I have that implant and have had no unusual sensation from it. I can't tell it from the original. At one time I questioned implants but am now a believer.

Good luck.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  RICK, thanks for the backup.  I've actually been wondering if they ever do implants on oldies like me.  I could use a couple teeth on that side since I lost two more on the other side when I I had the surgery.  Maybe I'll ask that question while I'm in the offic!

I went in last night, turned on the TV and settled down to watch Perry Mason and I don't think I even saw a minute of it.  That was a little before nine.  When I woke up, it was almost midnight!  I guess I was a bit more tired than I thought last night!

Cooper will be arriving in about 20 minutes and then the day takes off.  He'll need to be fed, walked and loved up a lot.  Then I have to get a shower and get dressed and ready for my trip to the oral surgeon. Cathy is picking me up at 10 and the drive is about 25 minutes and then to get up to the office is another 5 or so.  Getting from the parking lot to the building door is HIKE!  And it's mostly up hill!

If I don't get back in here today, I hope you all have a great day...no problems, no hurts, lots of love!

Good morning..

Going to be another fry day here. Neighbour just phoned to ask if I would look after Rex ..  :)

Picking up computer after I go to the pharmacy to see if they found the right med for Kyle. I also have a date with the vacuum and mop.....either that or these floors will get up and walk to the lake!!!

Jane, prayers and good wishes for today. For what you have come through ,this will be a walk in the park for you.
Lloyd, write down what you eat each day and take the list to the Dr next time you go. There may be something your eating that causes your headaches.

Good morning, more sunny blue skies here in the Interior! Today, five of us are again going to attempt lunch and a day of shopping. This is the one that we used to do regularly pre-pandemic, and that has been planned, canceled, and replanned this past spring. The ravens have left, and the pigeons, mew gulls, and hawks have returned to the city. And I'm told the bears, wolves, and wood bison are enjoying the summer as we humans hope to do.

Jane, I know about oral surgeons and dental procedures and wish you the very best experience and outcome. It's always good to have replacements, so the rest don't move out of place. I'll be thinking of you today.

Amy, I hope you and Kyle have a better outcome with the new meds. It seems that we have more choices, yet it seems more challenging to find that one to do for us what so many have promised!

Lloyd, I agree that those headaches have a cause with the food, which is probable or a consequence of something you're doing, perhaps while sleeping. I have a friend who, like so many others, cannot eat chocolate, cheese, or drink wine without having a migraine.

I'll hopefully be gone most of the day, so I'm hoping all goes well for everyone and that everyone has a great day!

"Hello, everybody. Welcome to Kiner's Korner. This is ...uh..."

Sportscaster/baseball great Ralph Kiner"

"It was the great ancient Greek scientist Archimedes who discovered that the amount of water an object displaced could be used to determine its density. He was then able to figure out whether King Hiero II's crown was made of pure gold or not. It is said that he became so excited by his discovery that he jumped out of his bathtub and ran into the street, shouting "Eureka!"

Unfortunately, both for Archimedes and the townspeople around him, he had forgotten to put on his clothes"

Yay, I am up and running....sort of.

Turned out it was my monitor that  was out of whack (techicnal term here ) The tech gave me  one to try out and it seems to work perfect so far.

Town was a can of worms, since we are in a tourist cottage area we get them all on Fri, traffic is bumper to bumper at times. I did pick up the new med and Kyle will start it tomorrow morning. Sure hope this works and doesn't cause any problems.

Patricia, I do hope this one doesn't cause any side effects on him. He will be closely monitored by me :))  I got a chukle out of Archimedes!!

Better go see what mischeif I can get out of doing. :coolsmiley:

Hello All.  It was a bunch easier than I thought it would be...not exactly a "walk in the park" as AMY suggested maybe along the outside limits of the park!  It was numb when I left the office and still bleeding a bit but by mid afternoon it had stopped bleeding and the swelling was going down.  The worst part of all of it was that I had absolutely no control over my mouth with the numbness caused by the surgery on one side and now this numbness on tha other side.  I carried around a small hand towel and wiped my mouth often.  It's better now.  I took two Tylenol as the numbness wore off and will take two more before I hit the haystack.  It wasn't half as bad as I expected!  Thank you all for thinking of me and for the prayer.  I'm sure they worked!

Now I'm going to hit the haystack a bit early tonight and tomorrow is another day.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Glad you are better tonight, Jane... nothing worse than part of your head in pain at night, takes over the sleep & half dreams. You do have my sincere sympathy, I'd rather have open heart surgery than those visits to the dentist.

Amy, sounds like you have a good computer repair person. When the monitor on my laptop went out my son connected the larger external monitor that Cas had bought years ago with his first laptop. It is still doing it's job on that poor old computer downstairs. Computer is real fragile (remember Vista?) so only time I use it is for the few things I learned how to do with PSP. I wouldn't let it update to whatever came next because I never got the later versions of PSP to work.

Hope Gloria gets back with us soon, so happy Yvette is back.

Patricia, have fun on your vacation out.  It does feel like we've been in solitary confinement for a long time, doesn't it?

Lloyd, I learned when I click the "post button" that I scroll all the way down & so often will find someone else slipped one in.... but if you click POST a 2nd time, it will show up & be saved!

Busy day here. My daughter is in town so racing between visiting with her grands & taking care of appointments she stopped by here & we headed out to find a heavy clay pot for the hibiscuis, I tried every way to anchor it down but kept blowing over in our wind. Fixed it up good this time with her help. She's been dying to check out the new battery powered Toro lawn mower & mowed half the front yard. Worked up a sweat, she did! Hope son will get over tomorrow to see if I need a new pump for the pool or just a new O ring, turned it off overnight because the cottonwood trees are blowing their cotton so much right now I was afraid the skimmer basket would be so clogged and couldn't get water through & burn out the pump. I'm afraid the pump has served it's time, about 10 years old, same as the furnace & AC. The guy came this morning for the summer check up on it, washed out the big unit outside & tested all the working stuff. Like a dummy I forgot to see what he left  the thermostat sitting on until I found myself freezing. Still have a few jobs to do outside, putting away, so better get a move on before it's too dark. Think we have a nice crop of mosquitoes this year so better spray me first!

Sweet dreams and God Bless. Love y'all.  Tisie/Shirley

Good morning..

Nice  here this morning with the treat of rain. After the hot weather this temp of 41° is easy to take.

Laundry day here, a load of wood coming .we always ask for the self piling wood but to no avail. We do a bit at a time, not do it in about 2-3 days like we used to do. We will burn wood this winter and use up the oil in the tank then cross over to propane.

Bubble, thank you for posting the luna for me..

Jane, happy to read everything went well and hope your mouth is not sore today.

Shirley, this is the first time I have went to this fellow. My other guru retired and he was good! He could fix my puter over the phone as he had access to it. His health failed and now he has a well deserved retirement. I resent the mosquitos trying to help out.... they are not too bad here now and the blackflies have almost gone. Drangonflies are out now so they will take care of the mosquitos.

Better get ready for the truck..(nice young man both him and his wife are hard workers)

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

I didn't know dragonflies ate mosquitoes, Amy! Live & learn (yes, I did google & found they are very good at it). Thanks for the tip. Neat shot of the Luna moth, will have to see if they ever show up around here, I've never seen one before.  Your computer guy that could fix from a distance must be how Andy had mine set up, I could watch as he moved stuff around. Maybe Gloria's gr-son could do that & she wouldn't be waiting for him to visit. It doesn't take much to "throw me off" my routine these days.

Got to call my son to let him know I'm up... attem just ain't movin' too good yet. Got a lot of jobs for him lined up, poor guy, he has so many people to take care of!

Need to get back to the laundry & try out that new dryer, haven't had to think about settings & what to do after using that old one 55 years. I knew how many minutes it took to dry any load without thinking!

Good Morning Everyfrien!  I didn't sleep very well last night but it wasn't the tooth (or lack thereof) that kept me awake.  It was very cold (down in the low 40s) overnight and I just wasn't ready for that.  The place where the tooth was doesn't hurt at all this morning.  Later, I'm going to try eating something with some substance and see how it goes.

SHIRLEY, it sounds like you have a busy day ahead!  Don't wear yourself to a frazzle!

AMY, that was a lot of "bug" info you gave us!  Interesting!

I stripped Frankie's bed this morning after she left for work.  I think Cindy is arriving from OK on Monday and she'll occupy the bed.  My suitcases can go into the back of her car and they'll be out of the way and I can work on the food!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning! I had a lovely day yesterday, and we had so much fun laughing and catching up. We probably made several places' bottom line and had a nice lunch at the Traveler's Inn, a hotel dining room where we, I'm sure, provided comic relief for the other diners.

Traffic on the east side of town was horrendous from the Steese closure. I knew there were detours, we had some in front of this building, but it was bumper to bumper in the eastern shopping area. To give those who've visited a reference, the Steese is the main highway coming into Fairbanks from the southeast.

I came home at nine PM and did a brief check-in to see how everyone was doing.

Good morning, Lloyd!

Jane, I'm so glad everything went well for you at the dentist's. I need to see if any are open and make an appointment. My dentist retired, and it is hard finding a new one. The majority of dentists, doctors, and other medical personnel are almost all retired military from the many local bases. Plus, that insurance scam where you have to choose from their list of providers is illegal in the state. So, it's attractive to them.

Amy, I didn't know that dragonflies ate mosquitos. If so, they're not doing their job here. We have a small black bird with underwing white that we've always called a mosquito hawk. I don't know its actual name, but the tiny bird annihilates those pests. Your luna moth photo was perfect, and I admit I'm jealous.

I've never heard of self-stacking wood. Several people have wood stoves along the edges of the city and around the university, where students can rent inexpensive places with outhouses and woodburning stoves. Every once in a while, a proposition comes up to ban them outside the city limits as they are inside because of pollution and air quality issues, but it never passes. Winter is the only time we make the EPA's lousy list due to wood smoke, car exhaust, and several other pollutants combining and freezing to make ice fog.

I'm glad you have your computer back.

Shirley, yes, it was an excellent "vacation!" And we hope to start doing it regularly and a few picnics, barbeques, and poker parties like we had pre-pandemic.

I did all my laundry and general housekeeping on Wednesday, so I could have no excuses for staying out yesterday. I had a time settling down to sleep last night as I was still revved up. This morning was the first time in two years that there were no available texts and calls other than a few self-congratulatory ones over our outing. We want to schedule another one soon or make it another regular outing.

Hello everyone. Gee if I had known what to do I would have been here all week. Grandson was here and racked his brain to figure out why no mouse would work. He finally tried a different port and guess what. The port he had plugged into originally was on the front of the tower. Now it is plugged into what I call a pigtail. Last PC did  not have ports for every thing we plug into PC's so I bought don't remember the right name for it is with 7 places to plug into. Now he said he will be getting in touch with Dell and ask them to fix this PC or refund money paid for it. I have had it since December 1 2021. The company  he works for uses nothing but Dells so he knows a lot about them.
If that company had trouble with them like with this one and got rid of all of them Dell sure would hurt. They have a little over 100 of them GrSon told me today.

AMY  at one time my older son was collecting butterflies One night when my in-laws had stopped by we were outside saying good night to them and my son got excited and when he turned around he was holding a Luna Moth by the legs in his fingers. He was excited and I was surprised at how big it was and the shade of green.

I did a lot or reading all week, almost every thing I have on the Kindle. Will have to get more books soon.

Yvette was here at Noon on Tuesday and for most of the time she was here we sat an talked, had 6 months to catch up on. And she sure is a talker and I am happy she did not lose her sense of humor, we sure laughed a lot.
I did tell her about you asking about her and welcoming you back.

I have been using my cell phone on face time to talk to Regina all week so today will be able to use the PC and Skype. Much bigger than the small screen on the phone.
After the hours grson was here I need a nap now so I will be awake later for Skype.
I will try to catch up on some of the posts this past week.
Have a good day and stay safe.

I am here to say "Good Night, Sweet Dreams and may the Good Lord Bless and Keep You"... song in there but I don't think that is quite right.

Have not been able to start the generator this week (motorhome) & have done that faithfully once a month... so pretty sure it is the "house battery" problem. Had a new battery put in the driving part of vehicle & they did a quick check on the house one but said it was okay, and I knew it was not... so now when I take it to them to check air in the tires on Monday I will get to buy another battery. This is not funny!!! I reminded my son that I bought a new battery every year when we go to Colorado, one year earlier so within the one year warranty & think got it free once. It's been 2 years so won't/shouldn't complain, just don't want it to die when I'm in a campground.

Son put the new pressure gauge on the pool pump, got it primed & today I don't need a whole new pump!  He mowed the other side of front yard & back yard with the little Toro instead of John Deere.... they really like the new toy. What I like is no maintenance, just charge & use. It will go as fast or slow as one wants & would have done the entire yard on one charge except yesterday daughter & I played with it too much. It lacked only 2 strips across the back & would have easily done it if we had not goofed so much yesterday. Then he wanted to see if he could get the generator started (he did) but it wouldn't stay running with a totally dead house battery that wouldn't charge. One of those days that go from "OH, NO" to "YES!!!" in the same breath.

Glad to see you back, Gloria. I'm so tired tonight & still have my Sat. night shower & wash hair, set clothes out for early morning church & breakfast. Maybe a nap tomorrow, I sure need to do some catch up. Clothes dryer works nice & quiet & a loud enough beep to let me know when it was done.

So, 'night, ALL. Love ya, Shirley

Woke up to a doozie of a storm again about 3:00am so got up about 4:00 to get a bite to eat, give Tiger a bowl of milk and dress for church. I will get a nap today, sometime! Can't tell for sure, still raining a little, but looks like an inch of rain. The grass & trees will appreciate it.

Gee, Gloria, you sound very happy today.   Your world is shaping up, huh?

Better get a move on, the microwave is beeping at me to get my mug of hot water out for a cup of instant Folger's. Wishing every friend a Super Sunday (thanks, Callie).

Good morning...

A day of rest here..

No rain today but Mon ,Tue are going to give us some.

Managed to finsih the cancer quilt so can more on to another project..just need to figure out which one.

Shirley, dargonflies eat a lot of mosquitos but also bats do. Bat eat up their weight in mosquitos.Report say 1200 an hour. Can't help but wonder who did that study??

https://www.nature.org/en-us/about-us/where-we-work/united-states/arizona/stories-in-arizona/top-10-bat-facts/

Lloyd, there are a lot of foods that will put your blood sugar up. I can potatoes and the startch which is the enemy  for diabetics comes out of the potato and they are not as bad as eating them fresh. You have and Nancy has a new learning curve when it comes to eating and making meals. Not easy but it can be done.

Patricia, it is fun to get out with friends and have a wonderful time. Lots of laughter is good for the soul.

Gloria, it is so good to see you back. We are just as happy to see you as you were to see Yvette.

Better get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone, lazy getting started today. Don't know what day to start reading from. Went to the first and loved Bobbie's Help Wanted. She would have needed a lot mor help with money to take off on her travels these days. Almost $5. a gallon for gas here today. Glad I do not have a car anymore, only a few in the parking lot go out every day, the rest have not moved in more than a week.
With Monday being a holiday and Yvette coming on Tuesday the week was mixed up for me. when she left Friday I thought it was Thursday because the last several months I had no help on Fridays.  Hope next week I get my days straight again.

SHIRLEY  god thing you hung up on that caller. The government will never call you-as if they have everyone's number to call- they will send a letter. To many trying to get rich fast stealing others hard earned money. I never answer a phone till I check the answering machine to see the caller.

AMY  gone are the days of the General Practitioner who did every thing for their patients. Now all internists who do nothing much but send you to one specialist after another  and not get to know you. They treated whole families from babies to the elderly. The doctor we had one time when my oldest son -4th grade at the time was on the verge of rheumatic fever from a Staph throat and he came to the house every morning before 7am to check on him. He did that even on the weekend for almost 2 weeks. My son says now he does not remember that. He will be 71 next month. boy am I OLD!

I was lucky I bypassed Vista. I loved XP, even learned how to make stationery with the windows email with that.  I heard bad things about Vista and as soon as they started talking about Windows 7 I preordered it and got the disk in just about the time they stopped keeping XP safe. I had no trouble with 7. I started PSP with 8 thanks to our "Picture Lady" from Missouri. Bunnie talked me into downloading the trial to try it. What really got me into PSP was going to that folder in SN and seeing the lighthouse with the light beam moving around. That was from Agnes who lived in NH. I could not believe at first that animation could be done on a home computer. I sure asked Agnes and Bunnie a lot of questions back then. I started sending emails to people I never knew. Window 10 I never had a problem with but this new Dell has 10 and 11 nd I would love to get rid of 11. I like some games like Klondike Solitaire and jigsaw puzzles and Mah Jong and a few others. The ones I bought I downloaded  to my external drive and from there installed. it is the free ones I had I cannot find now. My grandson knows a lot of places to download the games I like so am waiting till he can come here with a bit more time to get things installed. Not interested in  the 11 games or movies one has to pay for. I have Pluto installed so can watch a lot of movies I grew up watching, some of the musicals and comedies from the 1940's I enjoyed, nothing teaching us a lesson back in those war years, we needed the ones that could give us a chuckle and not all war movies. Some of those were great because we needed to know what our family members were going through.

JANE  after what happened to me with the last 2 teeth I had out I and afraid to go to a dentist. I do not want anymore anti biotics and I have to take 4 before going to the office because I have something foreign in my body-my right shoulder replacement. Of course the last 8 that need to come out are in the front. That office is about 4 or 5 miles from here. We sed to have 6 doctors in town and now all we have are Nurse Practioners but is a way they are better than one doctor I had who when I asked a question walked out of the room and would come back 10 minutes later saying he would see me in 3 months.

LLOYD  when I was years younger I wanted to get an RV with every thing in it and travel all over this beautiful country of hours. Like many other people it was a dream never meant to come true.

PATRICIA  the dentist that took out most of the teeth except the last 2 retired the week before the new one-a foreign woman-went overboard with antibiotics. I am sure everyone here is tired of hearing how that turned out. I have heard of others that are good but I am not getting anyone traveling to the other end of the state. I get stiff and achy just going to my grandson's home and that is half an hour from here.

LLOYD  when I do eat a good meal I always have a few slices of pickled beets. Not because they are healthy but because I like them. Amy is right about white potatoes. When I was told by a doctor I went to that I was diabetic I looked up online about food and then testing my blood every day I found every time I ate something white flour the reading went up. Started only eating sweet potatoes, brown rice, rye bread-I know they all say wheat bread but so not like that taste. Only half a cup of pasta. Even now that a different doctor told me I was never diabetic I find I eat less pasta and not many sandwiches anymore, seldom have toast. Wonder if that is how I lost so much weight was by not eating the high carb foods. I still love my ice cream and chocolate candy.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyone from the pleasantly
warm  (not HOT) and clear Rocky
Coast of Maine.    IMHO,
June is the absolute BEST month
here in Maine.

"Nothing so Rare as a Day in June"
as that old saying goes.

This has been a very good week
for me.  I have kept my nose
off the News and concentrated on
finishing up my final preparations
for my "end of life issues" ...

Never fear.  I am fine and expect to live
many more years,  but because I was
gifted a significant amount of money
by  two of my best friends,  I have been
able to purchase a cemetery lot, and purchased
a marble container for my ashes and Thursday
went with Kelly to order and purchase my
head stone.    Soon my lot will be
ready for the day when my ashes in a marble
container can be installed on the lot.

I got to  pick out my own head stone which
is all shiny black with my info and my four
children's names written on it.

My kids names (for information only)
that I am their Mother.  My greatest
achievement in life.

Who says you can't take it with you?
Their four names will be on the back of
my headstone.

I feel really lucky to  be able to
plan what I would like to have on
my final resting place.

Plus the relief in knowing that all of
this planning is over and done with and not
left for kids to have to worry about  when
my day comes to say good bye.

Everything is bought and and paid for with only
a little left for the kids to concern them selves with.

It did take a lot of worry and planning on my
part but the people that I had to deal with were
so very very helpful and kind in helping
me tidy up the plans.

So I have no complaints this week
those will have to wait until after
the glow of a job well done,  leaves me.

Have a good week,  EVERYONE,
Sandy

Thinking ahead, too, Sandy! When Cas died the only thing he requested was cremation, he loved this place so asked for his ashes to be spread down by the river. Told him NO to that, I think everyone needs a marker of some kind to show "we've lived". Mine won't be as grand as yours but will include photos of special happenings during my life.  I checked out the cemetery nearest where 2 of our kids live, picked a niche in the mausoleum down low so I could see inside, paid for the joining one for me, bought matching urns & put all the recipts inside MY urn with instructions for my kids. I decorated the space for Cas & the kids helped me put it together. Since it cost (back then) $500 to open & seal on top of cost of niche, I wanted to make sure we were satisfied with how it looked. I did not pay for my cremation "just in case a bear got me out camping", hey, could happen".  Seriously, on the chance I die when traveling the body would be cremated before transporting back here to Wichita. The kids were pleased with the location, looked all around at names they were familiar with having gone all through school nearby. Like you, Sandy, I don't plan to move in for a long time (God willing).

Brighter side, I've been thrilled today to discover my fav robin is building her 2nd nest of the summer on one of the light fixtures in the pool area. Her mother did the same (I am sure she was born here since she will hang over the roof edge to sass me if I don't get her scrambled hamburger out fast enough!) Because her mother built her nests all around this house so she could see when I brought food out, I've enjoyed watching the process of small twigs & the mud filler, then she gets down into the bottom & rubs her breast to smooth & press the mud in. When she is done for the day she heads to the big clamshell birdbath (that sits on the ground instead of on a pedestal) to clean up. They really do work hard. Dads take the young off to feed them until they learn to pick up food for themselves. Well, I like watching out the window better than TV!

Sweet dreams to all, God Bless.  :xoxo:

Having "final arrangements made
has lifted a great weight off of my shoulders...

Mostly for the people that are left behind.

Hello Everyfriend!  After all I just read, I'm wondering if I should say "goodbye" instead of "hello"?  What do y'all think?  My arrangements are made too but I didn't need to "buy" my space.  I'm going into the church garden next to my kid sister.  Of course, there's arrangements for a "donation" to the church because they do not charge for the space.  Isn't this fun?

Now I'm about to hit the haystack because Cooper will be arriving a bit before 7 a.m. tomorrow and Cindy will be arriving from Okla. around noon or so!  She's with her daughter in West Chester, PA tonight.  I have one suitcase completely packed and another one partway.  My bathroom box is almost full and waiting for stuff like eye drops and prescriptions and my toothbrush.

PATRICIA, you had a great time with your friends!  I almost felt like I was there, too!

I'm going to have Cindy run me to the store while she's here to pick up some last minute stuff and get a haircut and she wants to make a trip to Davy's for some stuff they only sell around here.  We're gonna have a busy week.  And I've been wondering to myself if the car trip is going to be wearying to this old lady.  I guess we can stop and walk around every now and then and I'm not afraid to as them to do that!  All that sitting will be tiring.  I'm taking my pillow so I can sleep if I want to.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!  And may he offer his hand to all who need it!  All you need to do is ask!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning to you, LLOYD!  We're having typical SPRING weather right now...low temps at night, medium to high during the day.  Last night during the night it got down to the low 40s and today it will make it to the high 70s.  This usually begins happening in late April to early May.  Weather patterns are sure changing around here.

Cooper has arrived and has eaten his breakfast so I better go get my shoes on and take him for his first walk of the day.  I think I need a sweater to do that.  It's still chilly out there.

When I get back, it's paper work and bill paying time!  This is my most hated job of all!  But it has to be done!

Then Cindy should be here around noon!  Hooray!  I love it when the kids show up!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

P.S.  Good Morning to you, too, AMY!  You beat me here!

Good morning everyone. One of those mornings when I woke with a film over my right eye. Wish that would happen on a day when I have an appointment with  the eye doctor. that I have the 29th. Right now hard to type and see what I am doing. Too bad I do not have a patch for the eye that is very blurry.
I read every thing but too hard to see the keys to type. I an not able to hit the right keys if I don't watch what I am doing.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning

Liquid sunshine day here..

My eye lashes hurt..will do what needs to be done and coast the rest of the day. Not used to working like that. Kyle would say we stood in the stable over winter not working and now the muscles are screaming at us.

Jane, enjoy your day out with Cindy.

Better get moving.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Still not so busy in here!  We better get a bit more active or they'll start thinking about deleting this place and then where would we hang out?

Cooper has arrived and he's had his breakfast.  We'll be taking our walk soon so I can get on with my day.  Cindy will be over soon to do what she needs to do for her job from the computer this morning and then this afternoon, we're going to take care of some errands that I need to do and some that she also wants to do!

I hope you all have a great day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Well, someone appeared while I was typing.  Good Morning, AMY!  Enjoy your day off!

Good morning everyone. that film my right eye went away while I was sleeping. Lasted longer this time. I was told it is a gel like substance that breaks away and slowly dissipates. I see my eye doctor the end of this month and will ask him again and see if he says that again. Slept good but was cold when I woke and once again was glad I forgot to store away my warm winter robe. Up to 55 now, beautiful blue sky. Boy Yvette is doing it already-spoiling me. Does not let me do anything that is the least bit like work. I keep telling her I have to do something. I will not be able to move. Maybe I should take advantage of it now before she goes for the surgery on the other knee.
Saw the forecast for the week. Rain Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. We could use it, very dry here and on the news they warn about outside burning.

Like others said I want to be cremated. I do not want to be put in a box underground where no one will visit anyway. What is done with the ashes I would like a hole dug and the ashes there and a Lilac or other flowering bush planted over them.
AMY  I never heard of aquamation, is that ashes cast over the ocean  or water of some kind?

CC  post here as often as you want. Seems we have lost several who once posted here and now only a few of us here. We don't bite and you must read here at times.

JANE  I am with you, would hate to see us shut down.

Today is shopping day and have to write the list out for Yvette. Sure will be great to have someone who can read and know what I want.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Missing you all somuch, but now I am caught up again and smiling at your many enjoyable posts💗

We are home from San Francisco.  We were there one week, two days after we arrived our son and DIL left for three days and we enjoyed "doodle" time, then they returned for the remainder of our time together.  It was WONDERFUL being there.  No oxygen needed at all, thanks to he lower altitude.  The day our sn and DIL walked back in the door we had the call we have been waiting on......our new Grandson Leon was born on 6/2/22 at 6:11 MDT.  He weighed 7# 15 oz.

Yesterday we drove to meet the little Leon, and he is as cute as can be. I prayed that he would have BLUE eyes, and he does‼️  They look light enough that we are hopeful they will stay that color. Our oldest grandson has blue eyes....the other grands all have shades of brown to green to gold.....all very pretty, but, I am very pleased to have another blue eyed boy!

Back to physical therapy again today; then to the orthopedic surgeon to hear what he has to say about my CT and MRI'S I had done.  Praying that he has a good plan of what might be able to be done about my hip problem🙏🙏

We have been watching our Avalanche sweep the Oilers......we are off to The Stanley Cup playoffs.  It has been 21 years since we had the last Stanley Cup win and we hope we can do it again🏒🏒

I need to get ready to head out the door.  Have a great day EVERYFRIEND 🦋🦋

Jenny, I'm so happy for you and your "blue-eyed boy!" How wonderful and how many does this make now?

With all the talk about final arrangements, I'll add mine. After dealing with three family deaths and burials as executor and fighting with those who were positive they knew better than anyone else and so much more than the deceased final wishes, I made my wishes legalized and final years ago.

After my death, my body will be sent to a medical school. After they've finished, my body will be cremated and returned here. The cremated remains will be placed next to my daughters in the sacristy at our Episcopal church. The medical school will pay all costs, leaving none to be borne by any family members.

I legalized my wishes for multiple reasons, but the main one was because a member of my family attempted to circumvent my dad's wishes to be cremated by filling out unauthorized paperwork for a burial. This added fuel to tensions that are still not resolved 27 years later.

Good Night Everyfriend!  After all our activities today, I went to sleep on the couch at about 9 and woke up a little before 11.  I'm groggy and ready for the haystack.

Cindy, Cathy and I went to THE FENCE restaurant for supper.  It was raining and The Fence is an outdoor restaurant.  They have some tables or you can choose to eat in your car.  We ate in the car because it was raining pretty hard.  The food was just as good as usual and the company was excellent!

It was nice to see so many people hanging out here in the Soda Shoppe today!  I'm not going to mention names because I'll surely miss someone and it was good to see all of you!  And now I'm hitting the hay.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I'm here & heading to bed, been a super busy day. Daughter heads home in the morning & I will head to Walmart to have that "house" battery put in & tires checked. Will drop off some extra food (chicken salad & chicken noodles) at son's house on the way. We never did get everyone here at the same time all week & lots of left overs 'cause I made a double batch of everything.

Rick, I always use size 4 but for whatever reason it kept looking like a 6 or 8, I mean it was monster big! Then I lost it from the clip board so gave up. I'm hoping life will slow down for a while. Need to vac the pool & backflush extra water out, we've been getting rain nearly every night. Makes the grass grow so needs mowing more than evey 7 days. Not a good thing except my mixture of fescue, clover & bermuda looks pretty nice.

Congratulations on the new blue eyed Great Leon, Jenny! The family sure grows fast, doesn't it?   Maybe we'll get to see a photo of him soon?

Patricia, my oldest brother also gave his body to a medical school/military. I called to ask about the procedure & was told they will use it for about 2 years, cremate and bury in the cemetery at the school/hospital and will have a bronze marker to show where the remains are plus another bronze marker with his name for his wife's grave. She also said they will refuse the body if any family member objects to which I answered carefully that HIS WISHES should be honored!

I'm beyond sleepy so will not try to remember what I said this morning & lost. Been having some breathing problems so going in for tests next Monday, could be Covid side effects, could be lots of things but for sure, once you've had any heart procedure that is where "they" want to lay the blame. I already sent a note to my GP that I want to eliminate what I think is the problem (I'm sure he's shaking his head) before he tries to send me off to any specialists. I'm not a good patient.  ::)

Gloria and Jane, both of you sound super happy lately, I sit & smile at the computer with your happy talk. Concerned with all your aches from stacking wood, Amy, take it easy! Hate to tell you but you were not lazy all winter, we are getting older & time for the body to object to all you put it through!

And I am heading to bed, sweet dreams.... May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You...

We are off to the city today. Meeting a couple of ladies, then returning items that did not fit.

Jane, what an enjoyable time you had with  both girls.

I had better get ready for the city, load my boxes of "stuff" to take to the ladies and get everyones water to take.

Well, I don't know whether to say "Good Morning", "Happy Lunch" or just plain "Happy Day"!  I got up early this morning to meet Cooper's arrival and I was just having my first cup of coffee when he came.  So I fed him, ate my own breakfast and then fed the birdies.  Then Cindy arrived to begin her work day!  We had a bit of breakfast together and then Cooper and I went for a walk.

When we got back I sat down to read the paper and Cindy talked a bit between computer entries.  Now she's gone to meet one of her old school friends to do some shopping and have lunch!

JENNY, congrats on the new member of your family!  I hope his eyes stay blue as you wish for him!  I know he's going to have LOTS of love from all of you!

GLORIA, you and YVETTE must have been laughing loudly!  I think I heard you!

SHIRLEY, I have more animals in my yard now than I ever did.  Red-winged blackbirds, grackles, finches, cardinals, blue jays and a couple I haven't identified.  There are also squirrels, and chipmunks and who knows what else!  I have one black squirrel and at least 3 gray ones.  When we went to the store yesterday, we spent more to feed the wild things then we did to feed us.  I love watching them!

Now I better get busy and get some stuff done or I'll be leaving some necessaries behind!  Have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

The building's social committee is back operating after two years. We had a Memorial Day picnic, an advert for wood planter box rentals for the front of the building's gardens, and notice of spaces available for a parking lot rummage sale sometime this month.

Libraries and others are resuming trips here, and other organizations are advertising talks, lunches, and offers. The open-air spaces such as the enclosed dog run and smoking area across the street have reopened. Everything is back to so-called normal except most of the five sitting rooms remain locked.

There is still reduced staff, no inspections scheduled, and maintenance still arrives shrouded in layers of plastic, including head and feet.

On the personal front, I need a few grocery items, a few towels washed, and that's my day.

Bubble and Phyllis - Thanks for the feedback on CCleaner. Since the updating of Windows through several versions I have let things slip. Now - I am in the need for some cleanup. When I have some quiet time, and some incentive, I will download and start using it. It seems the most likely one to me at this point.  Through all the updates I have not been keeping pace.   :'(

A good Wednesday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 🦋🦋

I add a picture of Baby Leon as my avatar.   It is not the best one I have but it was taken shortly after birth and it shows those BLUE eyes‼️

Thank you for all the nice comments welcoming him.

PATRICIA, Leon is our 7th grandchild. The oldest, Matt will be 17 in August.  6 boys and one girl🤪🤪 I do not think we will be having anymore, but one never knows.  Our third son and his wife still talk about children, occasionally, but it appears it probably will not happen.  We are very blessed. Good to read that you have your burial arrangements made.  I am thankful for those that give their bodies to science to help our future doctors learn what they can from them.  I made that decision the day our son took us in the cadaver lab knowing how important bodies are for their training.

AMY, it has been a VERY LONG HAUL getting me back in working condition.  I met with the orthopedic surgeon that ordered the CT and MRI'S for me yesterday and now I am going to have some epidural injections in my lower back and a ligament in my groin.  Oh Lordy, I sure hope they will work so I can get moving again.

While we were at the surgeons office, Bob's smart watch went off and the doc saw Bob look at it......he has been having A-FIB since we came home Saturday.  Monday Bob called our internal medicine doc to see if he could get in to have this checked out.  They can not see him until late next week.  My PT suggested we go to the ER and not wait to see our doc.  The surgeon said  "if you were my dad I would tell you to go to the ER.......NO, let me rephrase that, if you were my dad I would take you to the ER.  So off we went to the ER.  HE was indeed in A-FB.  They did blood work, did a ekg to confirm this and started him on meds before sending us home.  This morning he is feeling fine and his smart watch no more A-FIB‼️  We are so glad we went.  The follow up with a cardiologist cannot be done until August 4th!  Good grief.  We have a call in for another office🤷 CRAZY it would be that long!

JANE, happy you are enjoying a visit with Cindy.

SHIRLEY, I am glad you have been having some visiting with your daughter also.

GLORIA, HAPPY HAPPY for you having Yvette back.

Have a good rest of your day.

Jenny

Shirley, how is your garden doing? Did you re-plant your seeds? I had to do that with cylindrical beets.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  (and Good Night as well since I forgot to check out last night)

I did visit photos and I loved the quilt!  Your sister is a lucky one!  She'll love both sides!

Right now, I'm waiting for Cindy to arrive and take up her office space in my dining room.  She's spending the nights with Cathy and the mornings at her office and some parts of the day with me and some with her long-time friends from growing up here.

We won't have Cooper today but Frankie and Cooper might both stop by later and they might even spend the night.  Frankie said she NEEDS some "grammy-time" before I take off for OKLA.  I love that!

I think I have most of my stuff ready but I'm wondering how it's all going to fit in the car.  We might have to rent a trailer!

It's good that your problems have taken a vacation, SHIRLEY!  I hope they manage to stay away for a while!

AMY, I hope your "eyelashes" are rested up!  It's no fun not to be able to blink when you need to!

I better get started on the packing of "stuff"!  I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Well, Jane, thought I was on a roll when I got the RV to Walmart & a very nice man back in auto found the right battery for it & even did a double check to see if it cured the generator problem (it did), checked air in all 6 tires & pronounced them "fit to roll" and we had a nice visit about Colorado (where he lived until about 5 years ago. Came home happy.

My long Mennonite made table in the family room/kitchen has all 4 leaves in to hold all the paperwork "to-dos". Have a $100. e-Bay gift card waiting to be checked out, bought it years ago but never used because you need a PayPal account to go with it. Some day I will learn to read the fine print. I gave it to my daughter the other day since she said she'd use for something. BUT when she tried (still had that sticky band across the numbers) it had 0 balance!! How can that be?  Says it doesn't lose value over time right on the card!  Have  any of you ever tried to contact e-Bay?  Happy I don't have an account with them and never will.  On the other hand I did get the silicone today I ordered for the pool & it is NOT what I ordered. How can a seller hijack Amazon orders?  After looking at it with disgust I read the reviews & horrified to see this place has done the same to other people! Why doesn't Amazon take them out of their selling place? Now I will be afraid to trust Amazon for ordering & WE have become close friends over the last few years!

Bottom line is I was scammed with the e-Bay valueless card and scammed with a seller from Amazon that sent a fake bottle of silicone. I am not about to return the silicone, not worth the trip to return in this heat and so far e-Bay doesn't have a human attached to ANY phone number. Going to Sam's Club & buy my water, bread & something else written down on a note in my purse! Does it seem like NOBODY in the world is responsible for anything they do these days?  Clouding up & to rain later so no need to vac the pool since it will be icky again.

Jane, my little "Robby-robin" is sitting on her nest by this door so I can keep track of her. I hope when her babies hatch they don't fall into the pool when they leave home. I'm keeping Tiger in the house unless I go out with her. She can't get to the nest but if a baby falls out..........

Good almost afternoon and Yvette will be here soon. Woke at 4, turned the PC on and then my eyes started closing on me.  Put the PC to sleep and laid on the couch and woke 20 minutes ago. When I woke earlier it was pouring. Now I can see blue sky and white clouds.

RICK  I had CCleaner for years but when my grandson installed a new PC for me that never made it and I forgot all about. I know it ran on it's own and I never had anything go wrong or any problems that I can remember. Then again my "rememberer" is not as good as it used to be either. I also had Ad Muncher -that one I paid for- and was never bothered with a darn add. Had Spybot Search and Destroy another free one. Hmm wonder if I should look those up again.  I do not trust Microsoft to keep my computer safe-even is a niece married a Russian who works there. They met online and I think he came here and married her so he could stay here and what better job for a russian spy to have? I net  him once and he was not very nice.

PHYLLIS  I always went for the free thing and if they work right why pay for it?

I started this late this morning but then Yvette got here at 12 and we just sat and talked most of the time. I did get my massage and she made me a shake with coffee ice cream and 2 bottles of vanilla ensure and some Hershey chocolate syrup added. Now she is back for awhile she said she would work on fattening me up again. I laughed and wished her good luck an adding even 1 pound. A lazy but good day we both needed. I laughed so hard my ribs still hurt.
Hope tomorrow I can get here in SS before Yvette gets here.
Have a good rest of the day and stay safe.

It has been hacked more than once, but, overall, complaints were more about the site's inconsistent information.

Gloria, sometimes what it takes to make the world right is a good friend to talk to! So glad for you Yvette is back.

Rick, I avoid anything I can hide from on the computer & when in need, call one of my sons.

Bubble, saw a photo of Don on here someplace & wondering how he is doing. We've had so many good people around over the years, nice to think about them and the world they shared with us.

I splurged on myself today & bought the prettiest T-bone steak. I will fry it in a tiny amount of Crisco in cast iron skillet, eat that little tenderloin part (I don't buy unless that is a nice big chunk of that), will have a baked potato in the microwave & some Birdseye veggies with a fat pat of butter melted in the bag, peel & fry those 2 apples in butter that need to be used, couple tablespoons of brown sugar make them melt in your mouth....

Then the rest of that steak I will cut into bite sizes, & use all the brownings in the bottom of that cast iron, add a little butter to brown a couple tablespoons of flour, when brown enough start adding water until it thickens, put the steak bites back in, add a clove of garlic, salt &  pepper & simmer till you hardly have to chew.

The other half of that big baked potato will get added to the steak & gravy & it will go into 2 Ziploc tubs to freeze for another day. These meals taste SO good out camping, can heat in microwave or on top of the stove in a little pan. So there's my plans for the next hour or so. Really isn't extravagant when it makes 3 big meals.

Oh, Amy, have enough of one kind of spinach to pick tomorrow so will try to remember to take a picture right before I start eating. I can hardly wait. I do love to eat.

I'm off to the haystack, too.  After we had supper and cleaned up after it and Cindy did a little more computer work and then left to go over to Cathy's for the night, I conked out!  When I woke up, I did a few things and then stopped in her to check out.

SHIRLEY, your meals sound yummy!  And that's how I cook, too...one to eat and two or three for later!

Gonna have a full house tomorrow night.  Frankie is spending the night and Cindy is moving over here and her daughter Courtney is coming up from West Chester, PA for the night and the next day.  Also, Cooper will be here!  Fun!

I better get to bed.  It's an early morning tomorrow!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning.

Shhh... it isn't raining ....yet. Gives us a chance to cut the grass ,it didn't stop growing in the rain. ::)

Outside work till the weather puts us indoors today. Lots of choices to work at, what gets done gets done the rest can wait.

Shirley, your spinach will taste good! Are you using it in a salad? I did pick up another package of swiss chard and now to find a spot to plant it. This one is called Bright Lights and has red, orange, yellow and white stems on it. Will know better after it comes up.

Gloria, does Yvette know how happy she not only makes you but us also? We are glad you have not only your worker but your friend back.

Better get at the work before the rain comes.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning to all my friends who are here and to those who will arrive later.  Cooper arrived, had his breakfast, went for a walk, was a good boy and now he's resting.  Cindy arrived and is on the computer putting in her day's work.  And Courtney (granddaughter) will be arriving later today.  Gonna be a busy one!!!

I wish you all a good day, no rain (or light rain) and stuff to do that isn't tiring and gives you pleasure!

Good morning everyone, 61° sun is shining and the sky a beautiful blue, the color my Mom's eyes were.

SHIRLEY  T-bone and Porterhouse steaks are the same price here so I always bought a Porterhouse and looked for one with the biggest tender piece. Now with the price of $13 a pound I just look, I never was a big meat eater.

LLOYD  hope you slept good last night.

JANE  nothing like a full house of family. I can pictures all of you sitting around the table talking and laughing. That's how my family was. Always sitting around the table was natural in my family, my in-laws never gathered like that except holiday meals.

AMY  Yvette is a caring person and lives to help others. She also loves shopping. Yesterday I mentioned something I needed to ask Bill to get and bring here when he comes Saturday. An hour after she left she called me and told me what she was looking at and asked if I wanted her to get it. OK and I will pay her for it today.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Gloria, I just fried my steak, couldn't find my cast iron skillet after looking since ALL day yesterday when I got home. Called my daughter to make sure I didn't give it to her when we cleaned out cabinets the last time she was here. Answer was NO and she had no idea where we might have moved it to. My cabinets are deep so I've been going underground & decided I was hungry & it would fry in this Circulon skillet, bought a set on sale before Cas died and was still thinking of them as "new".... near 10 years old!  As I looked at the package of meat it surprised me to see one was Porterhouse & other T-bone!  I fried the Porterhouse and that tenderloin part melts in my mouth. I will still make the gravy to put the other side in, won't hurt that skillet to scrape the brownings off gently!  So back to the plate & stove! I probably would not have noticed the package held BOTH kinds if you hadn't just mentioned! YUMMY!

Good afternoon.  I typed a post, got a phone call, came back post gone‼️😩 Darn gremlin's 🤪🤪

JANE, enjoy your family visit.

SHIRLEY, you had me drooling while I was reading about your planned meals 🥰🥰. 🤷  It is not like a iron skillet can just walk off 🤷

AMY, do you drink rhubarb juice just like apple or orange, or do you add it to something you are making?  Sure sounds good.  I love eating cooked rhubarb.

Last night we had a beef roast, gravy , mashed spuds and a BIG bowl each of beets.  Oh my goodness how tasty it was.

Have a good weekend EVERYFRIEND.  We will be going to Granddaughter Kate's dance recital tomorrow.  It is in a professional theater.  They will do three different shows.  We chose mid-day as it was to include her solo.  $36. a ticket.  Yesterday the schedule came out and her dance is in the third one😩😩.  Nothing we can do about it other than buy another ticket in the 3rd show each😩

Loving your stories about Yvette being there, GLORIA🥰🥰

Good morning everyone. Son not coming today. The pollen in the air is so bad he can hardly breathe when he goes out. I have told him for several years if he does not feel well to stay home. Don't know how I slept last night but my back is bad this morning and I will try getting some of the arthritis salve on and hope it helps. Cold and damp, gray sky so not nice. Think I will get a blanket turn on the TV and get comfy on the couch, and sleep the day away. Even hard sitting here.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Afternoon!  I think I'm all packed; all cleaned up; and all ready to leave at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.  Cindy is having a last visit with her friends before she packs the car and gets some sleep tonight.  I'm tired up the gazoo but I can sleep all the way to OKLA. if I feel like it.  I think we're stopping over about half or 3/4 of the way there.

This will probably be my last entry until afer we get there.  When Cindy gets back, we'll be packing up the computer to travel.

AMY, I think you shooed all those dust bunnies down here but I'm not going to worry about them because Frankie said she's going to give my house a "deep cleaning" before I get back.

Cindy and I went to a memorial service this morning for one of my long time friends.  Her kids and my kids all went to school together and she's been not so good for some time.  It was nice to see her kids again and to have a chance to say "Good bye" to Nevy!

I guess I better get off this thing.  Cooper's barking as if someone is coming and that's probably Cindy coming back!  I wish you all well for the next few days until we can communicate again!

Good morning..

Listened to the sound of rain softly falling and didn't want to get up. Something so soothing about the rain quenching the ground.

A day of rest here, hope to play in my sewing room.

Jane, safe travels. Enjoy your time away.

Gloria, my son had/has allergies but so far so good with him. He used to go get an allergy shot ,his were so bad at the time. I think he out grew the severity of them.

Patricia, how are things your way?

Better get on with my day.

Mystery of the missing cast iron skillet solved!!!  I've been telling/nagging/teasing my daughter about "she has the skillet & doesn't know it"... and turns out she was in her basement when she called, noticed a box that had a plate on top that she recognized from when she was little. She discovered MY SKILLET under the plate & knew it came out of the same cabinet we cleaned out the time before when she was here. I don't think she realized I put it in there and had just taken the box to the basement when she got home that trip & was back here about 10 days later for another special occasion for one of her grands. Anyway, she heads to the east coast tomorrow to babysit her other 2 grands. She cooked the whole time she has been home, all her husband's favorites (he does appreciate & is so sweet to her about all the traveling since she retired). He doesn't want to retire, they've already traveled the world so content be home with a full frig!... They always come here for the 4th of July since we can still shoot fireworks, have a big family gathering usually at her oldest son's house. Lots of food & goodies and lots of fireworks. Think we have his neighborhood content to watch the fireworks from their own yards because nobody complains.

Jane, it was miserable hot with warnings today so hope you girls have NO car issues that would strand you on the highway. My 10 day forecast shows nothing but HOT. Tell you one thing I do is refill a tall bottle of water to an inch from the top & freeze it. They work as "freezer packs" and can drink the water as it melts (I fill with Brita pitcher water). I also have some of those long ago Tupperware "squares"(cubes about 6 OR 8") that I freeze & leave in the Tupperware because the bigger the square the longer it stays cold. If you lay a thick washcloth on top you can cool your face anytime. I have some of those thick styrofoam coolers that don't weigh anything & I just munch my way across the country! If in the motorhome the frig & freezer handles everything but back in the old days the red Coleman cooler kept the best. I'm sure you'll have plenty of giggles all the way. I've got several sets of those sun shades that mush up against the glass & can still see traffic thru. My body temp goes up with the sun shining on my skin so a battle of taking photos out the window or hiding behind dark screens! Be SAFE & enjoy. Did you say how long you will be visiting?  Any idea the route you take?

Can't believe it's past 10:00 & I didn't really eat supper. Need to get my act together. Sweet dreams & God Bless. My computer is acting strange. I told Google to turn the pool lights on & Google said, "something went wrong, try again later".... So went to the bedroom & told that Google clock to do it & it said, "Okay"... Andy said to unplug & let the sassy one reset... so will give that a try. Now the curser is skipping from one line to another so if you notice letters inserted that don't belong in a word, blame the little gremlins in the computer!

Good morning everyone, sorry I have been AOL. All I did all week end was lay on the couch or the bed and sleep. Did not even get out of nightgown and robe. Just plain lazy.

AMY  no one in my family had an allergy or in my in-laws family either. But Bill now has COPD and the pollen got to him this time. He has worked outside most of his life and even since he retired he still spends a lot of time outside.

RICK  a few years ago my oldest son and wife went to Arizona to see my daughter. He wanted to drive to see the country but my DIL would be asleep 5 minutes after starting out. She has always been like that but as long as she is driving she is wide awake. They ended up flying there and renting a car. They wanted me to go with them but I can no longer travel.

JANE  enjoy your trip, will be looking forward to your return and hearing about all the fun you had.

AMY  computer OK for now but I still do not like Dell computers. Should have asked my grandson to get me anything but Dell.

LLOYD  71 now and high to be 82 and it is very sunny.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning, we have sunny skies again today, but the smoky haze from fires burning further south hides them. Every time we get a little heat, we have fires. The past three years have been in the record books for one thing or another, and frankly, I'd enjoy a month of peacefulness before breaking another climate record.

Amy, Farrah used to startle and hide from the fire alarm or construction noises outside. Now the noise is ignored unless she sees construction workers riding one of those rising contraptions close to her window. Two years ago, I had her hearing tested at her checkups. The vets said her hearing is excellent, so that's not it. She checks my behavior, and I believe she goes by that.

Today is another day on the computer, and I have no need or desire to go further. Several little day-to-day tasks can wait another day.

I hope everyone has a great day; as Lloyd says, "Just as you like it."

Smoke from dozens of wildfires in Western Alaska began spreading across the state over the weekend, covering the skies with a reddish tinge and leading to unhealthy air in some regions.

45 active wildfires in Western Alaska had burned more than a quarter million acres as of Sunday, according to the state Division of Forestry. They include the 150,000-acre East Fork Fire, one of just three fires in the area that are being manned.

Smoke from those fires reduced air quality from the Kenai Peninsula to the Seward Peninsula and the Brooks Range, with some of the worst particulate concentrations in Fairbanks as of Monday morning.

The concentration of smoke particles in the air in downtown Fairbanks was measured in the unhealthy range on Monday, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation monitors.

That means people with asthma and children should avoid prolonged outdoor exertion.

RELATED: St. Mary's residents pitch in to keep their village from burning

Smoke is expected to start clearing by Monday afternoon in Interior and Southcentral, said National Weather Service meteorologist Bobby Bianco.

But the shift in winds that's clearing the smoke is also expected to bring warmer temperatures and lightning strikes to the Interior.

"There's a danger of dry lightning starting new fires across the Interior," said state fire spokesperson Sam Harrel.

Harrel said a lack of lightning in the Interior so far this season has resulted in fewer wildfires in the region, but over the weekend, crews did start work on two new human-caused blazes off the Steese Highway north of Fairbanks. Harrel said a fire investigator is looking into the source of both starts.

In Southcentral, southerly winds are expected to start clearing smoke Monday evening as well. National Weather Service meteorologist Ray Christensen said that the improvement will be moderate at first.

"It won't completely go away but I think you will see improvement over Southcentral over the next day or two," he said.

As of  Sunday 460,000 acres had burned statewide in Alaska, the 2nd highest amount at this point in the wildfire season, in the past 30 years.

Been up a couple hours with nothing to show for time but a full tummy and a happy cat. The wind is bending the trees in circles, I swear it looks like it's trying to unscrew them from the ground! Temp was 80° when I woke up, what the computer says now. Not going to get any better~~~~~~wah..............At least I'm sitting in AC while that poor robin sits on her nest she built over the light fixture right on a brick wall. She gets the morning sun until about noon since it's on the south side of the house. All the birds look miserable yesterday & so far this morning... looking for food & I'm not dressed to feed them yet. So that's it for south central Kansas.

Wish Jane would have mentioned if they plan to come thru Wichita before dropping down into OK. The turnpike is on the other side of town but I'd love to meet them.
Actually, there is a by-pass around the city that joins the turnpike on the south side as it heads to OK.

Shirley,  I'm betting they'll cut off onto I-44 and come through Missouri directly to Tulsa area.

Would love to get together with the two of you.  Stillwater would be the most "centrally located" place for coming from our three different directions but I doubt I could find someone to take me and wouldn't be at all able to drive myself.  :( We should probably discuss this via emails later on.

My area has gone from chilly/wet to HOT/muggy. :P  Necessary errands to do today but I've been staying in except for getting the mail and turning on the sprinklers for the "pot garden".

Son hooked up a system to the outdoor faucet that has small individual sprinkler heads in each pot and several taller ones along the one flower bed. I have to turn it on (faucet is on patio) but it turns itself off.  Hose also hooks onto the system so I can water the things on the patio and fill the birdbath.

Domestic Duties, working on another scrapbook project for son, following the bird-watching webcams Rammel mentioned a long time ago and reading e-books keep me pleasantly busy.

Am enjoying reading the posts but don't really have that much relevant to add.

Wishing Everyfriend a Happy Flag Day

Well, I'm in Jenks, Okla. and now I have my computer set up so I can communicate!  It's been a busy several days...first the two day trip to get here and then seeing and doing as much as we can before my other two daughters leave to go home!

Unfortunately, my granddaughter and her husband and kids are off on a vacation with her husbands family and won't be back until Saturday!  Then the fun begins!

This is going to be a shortie because I need to be associating with my family.  I wish you all a good day coming up and more to follow!

I started to comment on your flag, Rick, but had a phone call from son (Andy) on his way to Colorado. He knows I love the calls along the way because I've been driving that route nearly every year since the boys were 12 & 14 years old (he was born in Nov,'60 & Pete in May,'63). He will sleep a few hours in a Walmart parking lot and hopes to get up to the campgrounds to catch people leaving so they can switch their "reserved" site for a walk in and be able to keep it for the week end.

They got on the reserve site at midnight the first of January but ALL the reservable sites were already booked for all the summer at the 2 campgrounds they wanted to stay in. They were not supposed to be able to reserve ahead but somebody knows how to bend the rules. I had a notice that some of the BLM campgrounds had been closed this year so that eliminated a lot of camp sites.

The younger son isn't retired yet so he will drive out on Sat, at least they can talk along the way where to meet, usually Andy will come down the mountain to meet in the Walmart parking lot & they buy the groceries for how long they have the campsite... they do go back to the little towns of Salida & Buena Vista often to eat, shop & shower. I'll be with them in spirit!

Rick, I had the radio on & was reminded today is Flag Day, but couldn't put a flag out with wind blowing like it is. Wicked wind today. Nice to see your flag flying so THANKS.

Happy to see you are already parked, Jane. I was still mulling over Callie's route for you so did you pay attention to the driving (main cities)?  I have doctor appointment being made for me... tests... new cardiologist since the old one retired, etc. Still have the termite man to come for his once a year check up, he rescheduled 3 times already & I'm not sending their annual fee until they show up! I'd love to have a chance to meet you all but have to see when & if.

Lloyd, at our age (I know I'm older than you) our bodies tell US what we get to do so go along with what you feel like doing and CAN DO! Bird watching takes up a lot of my time lately!

Gloria, sorry your son couldn't get out, we never quit worrying about our babies, do we?

Callie, wind so bad & humidity so high I'm feeling super sorry for all the critters stuck outside! I've been all day puttering around, in & out with nothing to show for my day. I have not eaten so need to put something in the tummy & get to sleep.

Sweet dreams and God Bless to all. Happy Days ahead! (Pray for an early fall).   Tisie/Shirley
