Amy

Good morning everyone..

Snow stopped, for now but need to clean the driveway again.
Nothing on the agenda today...other than a bit of housework and sewing.

Hope Jane can make it in today..

Jenny, hope you feel better today.

Larry, you once asked how many special quilts and the first year I did 49......not sure how many now as I just make them.

Lloyd, do you have cows coming in now or do you wait till they go on grass before calving? Hope you got more sleep.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone. Once again Cox was out yesterday. After posting I was watching the news and suddenly The TV went out. Came back late afternoon before my date with my daughter. Power stayed on so at least that was a bonus. Yesterday was a cold damp day with no sun, this morning I was happy when I pulled up the shade and saw the sunshine. Hooray but only 25° and the sky tp the west is dark so maybe flurries as the day goes on. Woke too early again, just 3am when I looked at the clock.

JOY  do not mind the cold as much as the dark dreary and damp days. Just wish the snow had happened more in January and Ferbuary. Time for it to warm up now. Like you in the mornings I think a turtle moves faster than me. Yes another ocean storm on the way.

LARRY  I would not get rid of Brainsbreakers 4. I have added so many different photos and graphics to it I would not want to do that over again. With Cox being out so much lately I am glad I habe that installed, gave me something to do along with my MahJong games. I think when that little girl gets into school the teachers will have their hands full with her. If she does not learn that she can do every thing she wants she will have a miserable life. My grandson only has to go into the office every couple of weeks. The downside is he is on salary so those with problens get him 24/7 even holidays. It is a worlwide company with all the different time zones.

JUNE  must take me as long to get moving in the mornings as the  centipede took to tie his shoes. Good one, thanks.

GLORIA de  after WW2 companies were too anxious to get back to business and guess they goofed many times. I had a sis in law whos worked in a dress shop and knew what some of the sewers did to make their quota procuction for the day. When she went to buy clothing she checked everything, even all the seams before she tried anything on.

JUNE  there has been a few Memory Gatherings-their term- for those from this building who have died. There 2 that left here for nursing homes before they died.

MARY ANN  my Mom had one of those tubs, too. As a child I would go into the kitchen when I got up ro see it full of what here are call bullheads-like snall catfish. My Dad and 2 brothers had gone fishing during the night and those were what they caught. Only fish that would still be alive hours after being caught. The tub would have water in it and the fish would be swimming in it.

JENNY  the maintenance man's wife has had a cold that has lasted a month so far. She has that terrible coughing, too. I remember my Mom having me gargle warm water with salt and vinegar. I have had best results with a spoon of real honey to sooth a scratcy or sore throat. Don't swallow but let it melt and trickle down the throat.

LLOYD  the sun has pulled up its cloud blanket and now I can see some snow flakes floating in the air.

AMY  enjoy your sewing.

JANE  hope you can make it in here again when you get home from work.

Busy

Sorry, I don’t have the time
To talk to you today
I’m too busy with my life
To hear what you’ve to say

I’ve got this thing to do right now
And it can’t wait a sec
But maybe if things do ease up
Can I get a raincheck?

Not sure when that will be though
This thing is so high stakes
I’m so invested and full-blast
I can’t put on the brakes

I wish I could put it on hold
And ask what’s new with you
But you have to understand
My spare moments are few

I’ve barely got the time to eat
Or make a change of clothes
Or watch the playoff game tonight
Or other favourite shows

Sorry, I wish I could help
There’s so much going on
I’m so tied up in my affairs
I’m just a bit withdrawn

With what is going on around
The world outside of me
Hopefully I’ll have time to
Open my eyes and see

That the greatest purpose in
Life is to serve others
Maybe once things calm a bit
I’ll have time for my brothers

I’ll tell you what, this thing I’ve got
Could hold on just a bit
It’s not the end of the world if
We take the time to sit

And now that I think twice about
This other thing I’ve got
It won’t take as much time as I
Thought that it would allot

And since there’s times I’m really bored
And have nothing to do
I’d feel like such a hypocrite
To have no time for you

When I stop and ponder how
The word “busy” is used
I realize I’m just asking
Myself to be excused

For only having time for me
And my selfish affairs
It’s not a word that’s ever used
By anyone who cares

So strike what I said earlier
I’m not busy at all
My stuff can wait ‘till later on
I’ve got time for your call

It’s funny how despite how busy
Every day would seem
I didn’t realize that time’s
Passing was not extreme

There’s always moments to step back
From our busy day’s work
Service is the one job that
We shouldn’t ever shirk

Jenny, thanks for asking, but the pain will always be with me.  I just hope the non-use from the therapy will lessen the pain to some extent.  The hope with the therapy was that my arm would strengthen enough that I could raise it above my shoulder.  For instance, now I can only put a cup or water or a plate into the microwave with my left hand.  When the cup or plate comes out of the oven I can brace it with my right hand.  It is something I will have to live with.  I doubt if I never moved a muscle in my right arm or shoulder that the pain would leave.  It's arthritis, by the way.

I'm curious about the itching under your chin along with your sore throat.  I have no magic cure for either so I won't give advice but I hope both problems leave you soon.

Hi Everyone.  It is another beautiful sunny day here and headed into the low 60's this afternoon.  I have an eleven am appointment this morning for my semi-annual pacemaker check.  It is a very quick check.  On my way I plan on stopping off at Costco to drop off the ink cartridge to have it filled and then will stop back by on the way home from my appointment to pick it up.  I will grab a bite to eat while there.  This is the day for the housekeeper so we might go out for our main meal sometime this afternoon. I did get a haircut yesterday and Pat is going this morning and the stylist she likes wasn't there yesterday but it today.

I watched a lot of basketball yesterday afternoon late and last evening.  I plan on doing the same today.  This is the weekend for the Conference Playoffs.  I see our South Carolina University team lost their game.  It was a late game so I didn't watch it. I just fixed Pat her breakfast and used our new toaster oven for the first time to make a piece of toast.  Initially I couldn't understand why it wasn't heating and then realized I hadn't plugged it in.  We don't like to keep this type of appliance plugged in all the time so usually unplug it after use.

June, cute story. I have thought a lot lately about how hard my parents and grandparents had to work most of their lives. While I have always worked hard I determined when I was young that I would make my living with my mind and not my back.  When my father passed away in the Lutheran nursing home we had a service done there in the chapel so my mother was able to attend and other residents came in also.  We then had the actual funeral and burial back where they had lived all of their lives.  When my mother passed we just had the funeral and not the service at the nursing home as she had been in the special care unit the 18 months or so she had been in Iowa.

Carol, glad the javelina wasn't aggressive towards Don on his walk.  Sorry about the rough colds.  Here a lot of people are now suffering from the pine pollen and other pollens in the spring air.

Amy, do your dogs like being out in the snow?  Hope you didn't get too much so the clearing of it today isn't too big of a job.  That was a lot of quilts.  How many years have you been doing these special quilts?

Lloyd, refer back to June's little story in Post #110 and you will see why we are commenting on the funny story.  Good idea to have your own beef as we have no idea what the beef we buy in the store may contain.

deAngel, I have only a vague memory of the ice box my folks use to have and dad putting the big ice blocks in it.  By the time I was in school I think they had a refrigerator and do remember how the freezer part would ice up and have to be defrosted.  What an experience you had and what poor quality control that Maytag must have had at that time.

Jenny, it is time for you to get to feeling better.  At least getting out probably took your mind off of the suffering a little bit.  It has been years since I visited a zoo and think it was the zoo in San Diego.

Jane, glad to see you found your way back.  I was sitting here thinking how I could help you get here through an email.

Gloria, good to see that once again you didn't lose power.  It is great to have the internet and TV but better to have the heat if there is a choice.  Sorry to see you are in for another storm.  It must be tough for your grandson to be on call 24 hours a day.

Carol

Lloyd:  Sorry, I meant June's story.  This is what happens when I get interruptions.  I never sleep a full 7 hours - wishing you very good health and look forward to your interesting stories from home.

We are awaiting a roofing company check - there was a leak for about one day over the back bathroom.  This is a tile roof and we don't know how to fix something so different.

My mother's dad lived in a small village on a lake in Minnesota.  Every winter, they cut blocks of ice and kept all the loads covered in hay.  This lake is so clear that the ice has been used for the winter carnival in "the cities" - Minneapolis, St. Paul.  I have cousin who cut ice just for the carnival and they have been featured on t.v. and newspapers.  It is a tough job.

Larry:  The colds around here have lasted longer than normal and have been tough to handle. So far, Don and I have kept away from some gatherings and now doors and windows are open so fresh air can cleanse the house air.  Best wishes for your pacemaker check. We unplug a lot of things just to help reduce electrical cost but for safety as well.

Amy:  Have you been asked to resew hems for anyone?  Once, a woman I had only met at church came to my door with a stack of her slacks and asked me to hem them - I didn't take the whole stack.

Now the temperature is averaging almost ten degrees above normal and we are wondering just what is ahead this year.  I am still allergic to something in this air.

Amy

Way to go Jane!!!Hope you get back in after work and let us know how your day is going.  I am getting some sewing done and just when I think I have enough blocks, I am short!! I will get this one done.......slowly.

Carol, yes people do ask and I have this posted by my desk for all to see....hope it posts. Would they ask Picasso to paint their house???.

Larry ,hope your check up went well. Both dogs love the snow the golden loves to roll in it,all you see is four feet flailing in the air when she does. I have been at quilting for 7+ years and thoroughly enjoy doing the cancer quilts.

Good Morning,

Busy day yesterday.....playing Bridge   ;D

Larry,  the sun does recharge the batteries in the garden lights and they stay on for about 8 hours.  However,  they're regular AA size and, just like flashlight batteries, eventually won't charge any more so must be replaced.

I don't have enough new AAs  to do all the lights that need them (2 batteries each) but am hoping the ones I took out of the solar lit Christmas lights have enough "oomph" left to do the job until I can get more.

I remember my mother's wringer washer and how the wringer arm swung around to be used between the two rinse tubs and then over the clothes basket.  Also remember the laundry flapping in the breeze on the outside lines.
I didn't have a dryer when we first moved to Leadville and remember the snow being deep enough for me to reach down to hang the clothes outside.  Either had to fold the sheets "long-ways" or ask hubby to shovel an area long enough to hang them folded "hem to hem".

Today is sunny and warm(er).  I slept in and am kinda letting the day happen "as it will".

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

I wrote a long post this morning, then my cursor hit an icon in the Task Bar and away went my message.  My shoulder hurt so I didn’t type it again, but I did look for the message and ended up with today’s posts and a yesterday post of Jenny’s at the end with no way to get to the top.  I restarted my computer and all was well.

The subject is now long past, but I’ll mention my folks’ refrigerator in the early 30s; it was an oak box with a door at the top for ice and a door at the bottom for food.  We had a card for the iceman that was divided into four sections with 25, 50, 75 and 100 in the sections to indicate how much ice we needed.  No one locked their houses during the day, so, of course, we left the back door open so the iceman could walk in and put the ice in the top compartment.  If we were lucky, the iceman would find some chips for us kids to suck on.  We also had a card for the Colonial man (bakery).  He'd come to the front porch with his basket tray of goodies and we always bought something.

In the late 30s, my uncle put a separate motor in the basement with a cord going up to where the ice box was and we had electric refrigeration.  We had to buy our neighbor’s old ice box which had two compartments at the top so my uncle could convert the ice box to electric.  Our ice box and refrigerators were all in the back hall of the house I grew up in.

That made me think of an incident I had regarding the refrigerator in late years.  I had the electric service upgraded to 200 amps and thought all was well.  The washer and refrigerator were on the same circuit, along with an outlet by the refrigerator.  One day I was mowing (electric mower) and washing when the refrigerator went on (plugged the mower into that outlet).  That was too much for the circuit and everything quit.  I turned on the washer, got the refrigerator started again and finished the mowing after the washer was finished.

Another time lightning hit our TV antenna (before cable) when we were at the cottage and we came home to no TV and a refrigerator full of spoiled food (it was summer and hot).

One memory triggers another, doesn’t it.

Mary Ann

I think I'm good with getting in but I'm REALLY tired today and my eyes are buggy.  I had to do CBLs (computer based learning sets) today and I don't like them.  I was on the computer for almost an hour and a half and an hour is my limit..  Otherwise, nice people in line, short lanes and lots of smiles.

However, I locked myself out and had to go in town to get my daughter's key since my neighbor with a key wasn't home.  Since tomorrow is Cathy's birthday, someone brought sticky buns for her birthday "cake" and I got to bring one home.  That was my lunch.  I'm sort of glad I locked myself out.

Now, I think I'll grab a blanket and see if there are any zzzzs stuck to it.  I'm sure the dogs will wake me in time for supper.

Just checking in to say goodnight. I took the day off today, because last evening I took another fall. All ready for bed, started across the floor, had that "feeling" in my head and woke up on the floor. Nurses came piling in, but I had been able to get myself up and into bed. I was only "out" for moments. It is enough to make me feel quiet for a day or so. So......I have had supper and will finish getting ready for a good nights sleep. Tomorrow is a new start.....will see you alll then. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JUNE, I am sorry to read that you fell again......but happy to read you were able to get yourself up and nothing hurt too bad.

The cough is much worse now and my chest and stomach are so sore and my head hurts from all the pressure.  I have tried the honey GLORIA, and it is soothing.  I sure hope I can admit to feeling much better tomorrow!

I wish you all a restful night.

Good morning everyone.

Dull dreary day out there and it is not snowing :) Laundry day today, plus I hope to get back at the sewing.

June, hope your not sore after your fall ,you have been lucky in not breaking any bones dear lady.

Jenny, hope you feel better soon.

Callie, hope you had good hands in cards. Don't you love having days that "just happen" and not have to keep a schedule?

Jane, maybe a key hidden outside of your home but then you don't do this often and the neighbours are usually there. The treat was well worth the trouble. Happy birthday to Cathy today.

Lloyd, good morning ,did you get a better sleep last night?

Gloria, I am minding the cold more each year and don't care for damp days either.

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're waiting for the "boinger" for the doggies pills and then I'll be feeding them and me and then getting dressed.  I think I'll have time to get my hair cut this morning and then the day begins.

One of my classmates passed away this week and his funeral service is today.  A couple other classmates and I are planning to attend.  I've always said that if someone asked me who was the nicest boy in my class in high school I'd have had to pick Roger.  And he stayed that way through his life.  He will be missed!

Then this evening, my son's girls (The Lady Dragons Basketball team) plays their first game in the State playoffs.  If they lose they're finished.  If they win they go on!  My DiL, TLH and I are going to the game together.  Wish us luck!

JUNE, I'm praying that you and the floor have no more fights.  I hope you can stay upright!

JENNY, I'm so sorry you aren't feeling better and I'll second Lloyds remedy.  My father used to give that to us and I remember it helped.  I'd forgotten until he mentioned it.  If you don't want to add the bourbon, the honey and lemon also help.  I've done that one many times.  You need to warm it slightly in the the microwave.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend, whatever it brings!

I have just posted a series of photos from my most recent excursion which you cab see here: https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/photos-and-more/photos-old-and-new/new/#new

It was not a good day for pictures. A misty fog permeated the atmosphere which wasn't so bad because most of the shots were indoors anyway. The first shot is of the prophet Elijha taken in the grotto where legend has it he slept and from whence he ascended to heaven in a chariot of fire. This prophet is much venerated by Jews, Christians and Muslims, and in fact at the Seder table at the begining of Passover there is place set for him on the off chance he might drop in.
The grotto is in the Stella Maris Cathedral on Mount Carmel and is located underneath the main altar of the cathedral.I posted a picture to try and illustrate the layout.
I posted a few pictures that will give you a visual idea of the story. It's at this site.

Good morning, Very early for me. Sun is shinning no wind. Now the reason I am up and not back in bed, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE  While I was in the bathroom, Taffy has brought a dead mouse beside the bed.  I am waiting for my nephew to get up and remove it.

June, I am so sorry to read that you fell again. But happy to see you could pick yourself up and no broken bones.  Maybe you should also use a cane in the house. That is what I have to do, as my balance is very bad. My knew will just buckle once in a while.

Jenny, I am also worried about you.  My son drove home late one night from the citadel (SC) and had and awful cold and fever. I called the doctor as it was nearly Midnight. She said give him  a shot of whiskey with lemon and honey, but do not tell anybody I told you that. She was one of the doctors I knew well from working at the hospital. My cardiologist also told me to try Vicks on the bottom of my feet, with warm socks. That was last fall

Jane, I am also routing for your sons team.

By the way, I had pictures of my house posted in Photos & things I am now going to have a cup of coffee. Will have to wait before I go back into my bedroom.

Good morning everyone, was just watching the early news about the shooting at that veterans home in California. So much of things like those shootings in the news.  Terrible seeing so many sensless killing.

Sun is shining now 28°  and another storm for Monday. Some areas still without power. This town is lucky to have it's own power station. They are right there when power goes out they move fast.

MARY ANN  my left shoulder is like what you have. I cannot raise that arm above my head and the right one I had replaced is not working as good anymore either.

LARRY  last zoo I went to was the one in San Diego when they first had 2 Pandas on loan from China. I had never thought of their size seeing pictures of them but they are big. They also took me to their Wild Animal park in the mountains. Beautiful with different animals having settings like their natural habitat. Yes times my grandson had to tell someone from India to check the time and not call in the middle of the night and wake him. Good pay though.

CAROL  we cannot open windows here till it is 60° outside. No fresh air coming in so it does get stuffy. Manager says turn the heat down and turn  on a fan. That does not help.

AMY   that is a great picture.

JANE  good seeing you made it in again. We are not allowed to have a key made for our apartments but if we lock ourselves out "they" can let us in once after that they will charge $35 to let us in. I did have 2 made, one for my son and one in my wallet.

JUNE   so sorry your fell again. keep using your rollator to walk in your apartment with every step  you take. I have not fallen in many years and am very careful I do not again.

JENNY  hope you feel much better today. Only once many years ago did I have a cough where I just could not stop coughing.

JANE  good luck to your sons team tonight.

DON  wonderful photos. So much history there.

GLORIA  de  yikes I would have been on the bed yelling for help if I had a mouse near by, even a dead one. This building is good for not having anything. there is a steep bank in the back of the building and at the bottom is a river running by so it is surprising. Then there are several feral cats around so that could be the reason we do not see any.

We know we are getting new SS cards this year. About time they take our social security numbers off, kind of late after everyone has a way to see that personal number everywhere. Scammers are already at work with it.

Got this in an email.

It is true that the new cards will be sent out from April 2018 to
April 2019. Medicare has also warned on scams. They do not charge for
Cards or want your personal information over the phone.
________________________________
This change is coming up.  DO NOT give out information over the phone.

https://oig.ssa.gov/newsroom/ blog/june16-new-medicare-cards

This is pretty important to get to people with Medicare, their
Families and friends or adult kids who help parents with Medicare
Have just gotten word about the newest Medicare scam from an
Organization I educate for, Texas Senior Medicare Patrol, a division
Within the Better Business Bureau
Here's what you need to know to protect yourself, family and friends
Throughout the US.
Starting 4/1/18 Medicare will start a year long project to replace all
Current Medicare cards for beneficiaries to convert to alphanumeric ID
Numbers. Currently the ID number is your social security number. This
Is starting to hit the media.
Scammers are opportunistic
First of all the new Medicare card will come to you in the mail.
You don't need to request it or do anything. It will show up.
WHAT'S THE SCAM?
Somebody from "MEDICARE " will call to tell you you are getting a new
Medicare card. But until it comes you will need a temporary card. Fee
For the card is between $5-50 dollars. They want personal information,
Bank account or credit card so they can process your temporary card.
THINGS TO REMEMBER
Medicare will never call you unless you ask them to.
Medicare does all communications by mail unless you ask them to call.
Ditto for anybody saying they "work with Medicare to make sure you get
Everything you are entitled to" . Scammer alert
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THIS ONE?
First of all spread the word. Feel free to share these notes
Use your answering machine to screen calls or just don't even answer a

Hi Everyone. The morning is starting out very nicely with sunshine and the temperature in the 40's.  I expect we will get to 70 this afternoon but the forecast says mostly cloudy all day long.  The only thing I plan on doing today is attending a meeting this morning and then sometime this afternoon or early evening Pat are going to go out for our main meal.  We got a coupon yesterday for Ruby Tuesdays that if you bought one entree at regular price you could get a free burger.  That may be an offer too good to  pass off up we won't make that decision until it is time to go to eat.  I had a very busy morning yesterday as I stopped at Costco and dropped off the ink cartridge and then drove to the doctor's office and got there just at the time of my appointment.  However, the tech didn't call me back until about 11:30.  All was fine with my pacemaker/defibrillator.  The tech, a very pleasant young fellow, took the time to explain and show me on the monitor what they look for and what it means, which really was never done before in the 13 years I have had one of these devices.  It showed I still have 2.4 years of battery life before the device will have to be replaced.  When I left there I went back to Costco and picked up the ink cartridge and then went over to the food court and had lunch.  After resting I spent the rest of the day and early evening watching the college basketball games.  Today is the semi-finals of the tournaments so will be watching more this afternoon.

Yesterday Scott sent a text saying the house next to his was burning to the ground.  Other than getting some smoke in his house and losing part of his fence between the properties his property wasn't bothered.  I was sure glad the wind wasn't blowing yesterday.

Carol, it must have been very difficult to cut those big   blocks of ice and lift them.  I have never seen an ice carnival other than in pictures which are pretty amazing what they can do to make such artistic creations from ice.

Amy, I copied that link to the pictures and sent it to Pat. That would make any man shutter.  :)  My checkup was fine yesterday and it only takes a few minutes although I talked with the tech for a little while as I was the last person on his schedule for the day.

Callie, playing bridge is a tough job but someone has to do it.  :)  I now understand about the batteries now.  I guess it takes a special battery that is rechargeable.  We use rechargeable batteries in all of the things here that require AA or AAA batteries.  I had forgotten about the wringer arm on the washer swinging around and the tubs of rinse water that mother used.

Mary Ann, I expect you know this but if the tab is still opened even though it loads a different site you can often hit the back arrow and go back to the page where you have written your message and not lose it.  If the tab actually closes then the message is lost.

Jane, how often do you have to do the computer based learning sets?  Glad you had short lanes and lots of smiles the rest of your shift.  What a great idea of having sticky buns rather in lieu of a birthday cake. It is never a good day when we have to attend the funeral or memorial service for a long time friend.  Enjoy the game tonight and hope your team wins.  Cheer loudly!

June, so sorry to see that you have experienced another blackout and fall.  I hope today finds you feeling better but be ever so careful.

Jenny, you are suppose to be getting better and not worse.  I hope you were able to get some relief via sleep last night and it is better today.

Lloyd you have about convinced me that I need to buy a small bottle of bourbon to have available for a cold.  I think I have only purchased one other bottle in my entire life and that was for a party we were hosting for my employees since they had all worked very hard on a really big and difficult project that was finished.  I knew most of them drank but not a drop was used out of anything we had and I was completely shocked and ended up with several bottles of alcohol that sat on the shelf until I put them down the drain several years later.

Don, thanks for sharing the pictures from your day out.  I have several friends who had made trips to Israel and saw many of the sacred places over there.

deAngel, that dead mouse wasn't going to bother you.  Did you praise Taffy for her kindness in giving you a gift?  My wife walks very few steps in the house now without the walker and uses a cane when she leaves the house.  For some reason she hasn't yet written to the doctor about getting a prescription for a rollator to keep in the car.  She also has a knee that wants to about give away every once in a while and is pretty unsteady on her feet now.

Gloria, I read that the shooter at that Veterans home had been a patient there but think he had been dismissed. Apparently no one was hurt during the standoff.

Gloria, thanks for putting that message in, as the park also sent it out warning us about the Medicare scam. People must set up all night to think of these things.

I will finish what I started the other day.  You know that old dutch saying: "The Older I get, the Behinder I get"  that is me.
I've learned...
That it's those small daily happening that make life so spectacular

I've learned...
That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved

I've learned...
That to ignore the facts does not change the facts

I've learned...
That when you plan to get even with someone
you are only letting that person continue to hurt you

I've learned..
That love, not time, heals all wounds..

I've learned...
That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is  to surround
myself with people smarter then I am

I've learned...
That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile

I've learned...
That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

Larry, I just read your post.  Glad to read your pace maker is OK for now.  My husband also had a pace maker.  How lucky your son did not have more damage to his house, but so sorry for the folks that lost theirs. Lucky there was no wind

Don, Tom’s lady friend is leaving for Israel today on a two-week tour.  She is so pleased she will visit Petra.

Amy, I have turned three clocks ahead this morning already; the most important one is the one beside my bed that I can see by opening an eye.  I think I would get up in time for church anyway, but I don’t want to take a chance, so I set the alarm too.

Gloria, I wonder if we stopped publicizing the shootings if they would lessen.  I think sometimes it is “monkey see, monkey do” but shooters seem to get their ideas from what is on TV or phones and they want their 15 minutes of fame too.

Gloria, my shoulder hurts a lot this morning.  I just finished my shower and I’m now in my house coat drying off.  Toweling off is difficult.  I find my left arm doesn’t want to do some things alone and my right arm is not much help.

Jenny, years ago I had a bad cough and it seemed I’d cough up my toenails.  The cough lasted several days and one day I felt really good and before the day was over I felt like a truck had run over me.  I did go to the doctor and found I had bronchitis.  I haven’t had any experience like that again, but if I did, I will seek help sooner.

Gloria de, Kendrick has not gifted me with a mouse, but he did go after a baby bird and brought it into the house.  Tom used a napkin to take it outside where I am sure it died.

Larry, I was in “Reply” when I wrote that message.  My cursor hit one of the icons on the Taskbar and the only icon I use is the one for Firefox and that is not the one I hit.  After I lost the post, I tried everything, going up, down and sideways.  When I got back here, the last post was followed by Jenny’s post of the previous day.  I couldn’t get to the top by clicking on Go Up because there was nothing there.  So I restarted the computer.  And that is why I am typing this on MS Word!

Mary Ann, Petra was on my agenda last year but I backed out following an attack by Isis terrorists where they killed several tourists. If it were in Israel I would go, but it's in Jordan and I don't feel safe there.

CallieOK

Good Morning,

Larry,   ;D at your comment about "somebody has to do it (play Bridge)".   I consider this a contribution to the economy since we play at a local restaurant and, therefore, provide them income for 8 lunches.

Don,   enjoyed your pictures.   Israel was on my travel "bucket list" but I had to stop traveling before I could get there.

Mary Ann,  One time, I set my alarm "for the next morning" sooner than I usually did and was surprised to have it go off that evening!  Forgot there was no a.m./p.m. setting on that clock.

Yesterday was going fine until I came in from chatting on my neighbor's patio to find a small trail of water on the floor in front of the washer.
I had set the washer to "tub clean" so figured there was a clog in the drain.  I had some bath rugs in the hamper so was able to soak up the small amount of water after turning off the washer and no more came out.

Son came over late yesterday afternoon, moved the washer out and found nothing amiss.  He used the drain thingie on the front of the washer to collect 3 buckets of water  - poked around a bit in the drains inside the tub and that solved the problem.   Not sure what was keeping the water from flowing out as it should - but it's working fine this morning.

Since there was no soap in the water, he took each bucketful outside and watered the three planters.
How's that for recycling?   ;)

I found 3 e-books to add to my TBR list.  Guess what I'll be doing this afternoon.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable day.

Mary Ann

Don, I'll tell Tom about your message.  His friend leaves this afternoon from Newark.  Since she is part of a tour, I hope the powers that be have investigated the possibility of ISIS.

Callie, I try to check with present-day clocks to see that I have AM time earmarked.  I have set the clock back in the Spring instead of Autumn.  One of the joys of "old age" - forgetfulness.
