What an awesome day out there. Tis cold and windy but nice, bedding blew straight out on the line at times but it is all in and put away now.
I came to check to see if Janie had posted but she must be busy catching up with her sis and family.

Mercy Jenny, you were so lucky..that brick hearth could have done real damage and you are lucky you didn't break any bones. I would imagine you are going to be sore from that fall, take a long hot bath in Epsom salts to see if that helps you.

Gloria de, good to hear from you...did you have any power outages your way?

Larry, you are right about June and we all know she has a song in her heart.

Just have to put borders on the quilt and it will be done!!

Amy, a lot of trees went down, and there is a lot of beach  and dunes lost  along the Atlantic Homes were damage, but I am one who believes they should not be building houses were the dunes use to be. I did not lose power, the new part of the park has the wires underground, the old part, which is over 50 years old still has poles, so they have more problems. We have 580 homes in here, it is called Glenwood Village

At Homemakers we have made crib quilts for aides babies.  If I started a full size quilter, I would be still working on it a year later. My husband Grandmother in Ala. use to quilt all the time, she made my brother in law, on out of Satan. My husband would have been 93 so you can figure how many years ago that quilt was made.  I do not know who has it now.

Hello, Everyfriend,

Thanks to each of you who expressed concern about the gas leak situation.  I never did think it was a scam.  The inspector showed me his inspection sheet, which was from the city and stayed in his company truck parked in front o my house until the ONG rep arrived about 10 minutes after he talked with me.  I was familiar with the company I called to do the repair and the ONG rep who came late never even attempted to step into the house or near the door from the garage when he had to come in there to inspect the hot water heater.

Jenny,  I'm so grateful you didn't hit your head on the hearth.  That kind of dizzy spell needs to be checked out!

Gloria on Long Island,  I had a text exchange with Miss Ellen last night.  She said "there were lots of umbrellas in the streets" of Manhattan.  I thought they might have been from outside seating areas at restaurants but she said they had blown away from people carrying them.  She did make it to work and back home safely but said the high wind gusts were awful.

Today was sunny and warm - and I spent most of the afternoon "leisurely" setting out pansies in all five planters.  I discovered tulips peeking through in two of the back yard planters; had forgotten I'd put them there.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere has had an Enjoyable Day.

Gloria

Hello everyone, better late than ever? We did not lose power from that nor'easter but Cox went out. I was watching the evening news and the TV went out. I could only play a few Mah Jong games I have installed on the PC and only outside contact I had was my cell phone. One man here called Cox and was told this whole area was out and they would get businesses running first. I kept pocking up my phone at time but it was still out. I was in bed by 8 last night and wide awake at 3 this morning. Between no TV and no PC boy it was a dull evening and day till now. We had down pouring rain or gully washers as I have heard it called all day and evening. Before I lost cable I heard the weather report and the forecaster said it would turn to snow after 9pm. When it got light out and I pulled up the shades and looked out the tops of cars had a dusting, that was all the snow. We had wind gusts over 80mph. We were lucky no trees down around here but boy those trees were sure moving and swaying. Been having showers on and off all day, no sunshine at all. Had both my sons here this morning. The one here in town brought me some home made baked beans he made yesterday. They are as good as what I made and my Mom did, too, her recipe for them. Only he does it in his crock pot.

LARRY  it is terrible not to be able to say the Pledge and not put God into it. What one atheist did to our country is unforgiving of our politicians.

MARY ANN  we did not get that snow here but some towns did from what what my son told me when he was here today.

JOY  like you I thought of some of the tall pines in the back of this building coming down. The ones on the front side are too far away from my apartment.

CALLIE  you had a good workman there to work on that gas pipe. Seems it is hard to get anyone around here. Try to get a Cox one here and you can wait a day or 2 and then never on time either. Glad that leak was not worse.

JUNE  wish I could have send you and my daughter half the rain we got yesterday.

PHYLLIS  still gray sky here and still windy but not as bad as yesterday and last night.

DON  thanks for the link. Great photos.

AMY  hope there is still one of your muffins left. Anything cranberry I love.

DON  love the explanation of the holiday.

JENNY  we had power but no Cox. Finally came on and first thing I did was get on S&F and the SS.

GLORIA de  it was way worse here than where you live.  Still windy and no sun vur the wind is not like yesterday.

Wow Cox is out again. Will save this for later or tomorrow. At least it was on long enough for a short time here and on Skype.

Three hours later Cox is back. Better get this posted before it is out again. Have a good night.

Good morning everyone..

Looking to be a beautiful day...clear skies ,no snow or rain :)A day of rest here, only have to deliver a quilt later this afternoon.

Gloria, not nice when we lose our internet, we have come to rely on it so much now. Hope the winds have died down now.

Callie, will you get a frost now or is this it for winter for you?

Gloria de, those quilts from the grandmother would be worth something today. People don't realize just how valuable they can be and not just in sentimental value too. I did finish the quilt top and can now move on to another. The top is given to a lady that quilts them on a long arm and then after the binding is sewn on given out to cancer patients.

We are missing June????

We are also missing Lloyd??

Larry ,your dinner sounds delicious. Pat is happy with her Instant pot?

Jane, have a safe trip back home if you are leaving today..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Sunday morning, Amy and all who follow.

I am not quite as early as you, Amy,  but I am up a little earlier than usual.  I am finding that if I wake up really early , if I get up, I am not nearly as groggy as when I decide to go back to sleep.  I can always take  a nap later.

I am out of bread, so I decided I would make some biscuits before I fixed breakfast.  I have not made biscuits from scratch for a very long time. I did not have enough Bisquick, so I made them from scratch.  They didn't rise as good as my baking powder was old.  Need to put that on my shopping list.  Since I don't use it much, I just forget about it.  The biscuits taste good, just not as high as they should have been.  But, they will do in a pinch.

My DIL usually goes to the store for me, and she has been sick.  She is better now and went back to work, so I am hoping she will be going to the store sometime today. I will just get her to get me a few things now, and then later in the week, I will make up a list for Walmart.

Larry,  yes, I do have a bathroom with no windows,  but only a shower stall.   No bathtub that I could hide down in.  LOL.  But, that was another option I had thought of,  Thankfully, the wind has died down considerably and we did not have any power outages in my area.  My son, who lives several miles north of me didn't have any power when he came home on Friday and I didn't talk to him yesterday, so I am hoping all is well by now.

There was a lot of damage and many, many power outages all around Maryland.  Lots of trees and wires down.  One 75 year old lady was killed when she was going out for her mail.  Not sure just where that was.  But, several cars had trees falling on them. I think I heard that several out of state power companies were on the way here to help.  They are still saying that there are still thousands of people without power.

The sun is shining brightly and the sky is really blue this morning.  But, just going up to around  50º .   This time next week, we will all be on Daylight Savings TIme.  I love it when it stays light long into the evening.  Now, just waiting for some of those warmer temperatures.

Amy, I have been working on some of the quilted ornaments.  I can see where this hobby can become addictive.  I worked on one yesterday and then had to take it all apart as it just didn't suit me.  I am my own worse critic.  LOL

I am sure Jane had a great week end with her sister and family.  Hopefully, the weather was good for them.  Have a safe trip back home, Jane.

I hope everyone will enjoy this Sunday. I am off to make a cup of tea and enjoy a couple biscuits and some fruit.

Hi Everyone.  It is another beautiful day.  It is suppose to be down to 34 at 8 am but then be up into the 60's again this afternoon and sunny all day long.  I am ready to go to Church this morning.  I have done the morning chores except to fix Pat's breakfast and decided to sit down an rest a few minutes and eat my breakfast and then will go and fix hers.  She said she wasn't in any rush and I have everything set out so it will be quick and easy this morning.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.  I have nothing to talk about that I did yesterday as stayed home.

Don, that explanation of Purim answered my question very well.  Thanks.

Jenny, you all have such yo-yo weather.  We can't open any windows now as the pine pollen is covering things with that yellow dust.  I had a dusting on the car and on the top of my garbage can but don't yet see any on the streets.  Sorry to hear of you fainting and your fall.  Did you stand up and try to move immediately.  Years ago a good friend in his late 70's or early 80's had gotten up from bed and passed out.  His doctor told him to stand and wait a few seconds to let the blood fully circulate before starting to walk.  I sure hope you don't have this problem again as don't want any broken bones as that would surely interfere with your busy schedule.  Glad you enjoyed the Collabro singers.  I enjoy the Irish Tenors and these types of groups that sing the types of songs I like, ones with tunes and words you can understand.

deAngel, nice to see your weather has calmed down and that you didn't get any damage at your place.  I agree with you in that it really doesn't seem wise to build your house on sand dunes and then be surprised when they are flooded or washed away.  Glad you didn't lose power.  I was worried about you, Gloria, Jane and Sandy but it looks like you all kept your power.

Amy, I remember growing up on the farm and we had outside clothes lines and sometimes during winter the clothes would freeze dry and the sheet and other clothes would be frozen when we took them down.  We often had wind in Missouri so have seen clothes blow straight out.

Callie, I see why you weren't concerned about the people helping with the gas leak problem.  I guess that strong wind in New York will be good for the sale of umbrellas. Glad Miss Ellen was able to make it to work and back home safely in the storm.

Gloria, good to see you didn't lose power and that the Cox service wasn't off too long.  It sounds like there was really bad weather in your area.

Amy, enjoy your day of rest as you deserve it.  Have you kept track of how many of the special quilts you have made so far?  I think Pat is happy with the Instant Pot but really still learning how to use it.  We have only had a few meals prepared in it but they have been good.

Joy, I much prefer biscuit that are basically two crusts and my Dad liked them the same way.   Glad your DIL was able to return to work and will be able to help you with your groceries.  Sure glad you didn't need to seek shelter.  I heard from my good friend in Gaithersburg, Maryland yesterday and he hadn't lost power or had any damage from the wind.  I am wondering about Jane as she had said she would be checking in with her iPad from her sister's.  The extra hours of daylight are nice but I really don't like getting up in the dark.  Guess I will just have to stay in bed later in the morning for awhile.  :)

Good Morning everyone.
Joy My suggestion is if you do not have a bread machine get one. we have two.
don't use them often enough , but my favert is honey oat. Have a great day.
sun is getting out to show it's face good. weather guesser says 46º and cloudey
heading for 58º and cloudy chance of showers in after noon. have a great day.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, still gray sky and windy 35°. I am tired of waking as early as 3am lately so this morning when that happened I laid on the couch and slept another  4 hours.Just watching local news and there was a lot of damage from downed trees and wires.  Trees falling onto houses and in driveways crushing cars. At the shore they have roads closed off because waves are crashing over the storm walls and onto the roads. The usual places are flooded and soon we will be hearing from those who built there wanting the government to buy them out. As bad as those who build at the ocean front and then get washed out in a hurricane and are stupid enough to rebuild in the same place after.

AMY  we have snow in the forecast for tonight and again a winter storm on Wednesday, but then we know these weather guessers are seldom right. Now we get winter weather after hardly any all winter.

JOY  I lay on the couch in the afternoons but never sleep, wish I could. I used to wish they had small cans of baking powder since I no longer use much of it either. I did find a small can in the market and was glad to know they finally have them. I dislike throwing so much of it away. Like you there are no windows in bathrooms here either, no heat in there either. If I had another outlet in there I would buy a heater. Only outlet is over the sink.

LARRY  Cox was out  much too long for those in this building. For me it was the internet and the TV for most here just  the TV. Not many have computers. My daughter is happy now living in Arizona, they do not change the time. I would like that, too. There has been talk here that if the neighboring state agree to do so we would stay one time all year.

LLOYD  I would have no place here for a bread machine but wish I could make my own like I used to.

A Speech Every American High School Principal Should Give.... By Dennis
Prager.

To the students and faculty of our high school:

I am your new principal, and honored to be so. There is no greater calling
than to teach young people.

I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school.
I am making these changes because I am convinced that most of the ideas that
have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against
your teachers and against our country.

First, this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity. I could not care
less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow or white. I could
not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian or
European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave
ships. The only identity I care about, the only one this school will
recognize, is your individual identity -- your character, your scholarship,
your humanity. And the only national identity this school will care about is
American.

This is an American public school, and American public schools were created
to make better Americans. If you wish to affirm an ethnic, racial or
religious identity through school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will
end all ethnicity, race and non-American nationality-based celebrations.
They undermine the motto of America , one of its three central values -- e
pluribus Unum, "from many, one." And this school will be guided by America
's values. This includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs
that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language,
religion, sexual orientation or whatever else may become in vogue in a
society divided by political correctness.

Your clubs will be based on interests and passions, not blood, ethnic,
racial or other physically defined ties. Those clubs just cultivate
narcissism -- an unhealthy preoccupation with the self -- while the purpose
of education is to get you to think beyond yourself. So we will have clubs
that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy,
languages you do not already speak, carpentry and more. If the only
extracurricular activities you can imagine being interested in are those
based on ethnic, racial or sexual identity, that means that little outside
of yourself really interests you.

Second, I am uninterested in whether English is your native language. My
only interest in terms of language is that you leave this school speaking
and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united
America 's citizens for over 200 years, and it will unite us at this school.
It is one of the indispensable reasons this country of immigrants has always
come to be one country. And if you leave this school without excellent
English language skills, I would be remiss in my duty to ensure that you
will be prepared to successfully compete in the American job market. We will
learn other languages here - it is deplorable that most Americans speak only
English - but if you want classes taught in your native language rather than
in English, this is not your school.

Third, because I regard learning as a sacred endeavor, everything in this
school will reflect learning's elevated status. This means, among other
things, that you and your teachers will dress accordingly. Many people in
our society dress more formally for Hollywood events than for church or
school. These people have their priorities backward. Therefore, there will
be a formal dress code at this school.

Fourth, no obscene language will be tolerated anywhere on this school's
property -- whether in class, in the hallways or at athletic events. If you
can't speak without using the f-word, you can't speak. By obscene language I
mean the words banned by the Federal Communications Commission, plus
epithets such as "Nigger," even when used by one black student to address
another black, or "bitch," even when addressed by a girl to a girlfriend. It
is my intent that by the time you leave this school, you will be among the
few your age to instinctively distinguish between the elevated and the
degraded, the holy and the obscene.

Fifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem
will be attained in only one way -- the way people attained it until decided
otherwise a generation ago -- by earning it. One immediate consequence is
that there will be one valedictorian, not eight.

Sixth, and last, I am reorienting the school toward academics and away from
politics and propaganda. No more time will be devoted to scaring you about
smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global
warming. No more semesters will be devoted to condom wearing and teaching
you to regard sexual relations as only or primarily a health issue. There
will be no more attempts to convince you that you are a victim because you
are not white, or not male, or not heterosexual or not Christian. We will
have failed if any one of you graduates this school and does not consider
him or herself inordinately lucky -- to be alive and to be an American.

Now, please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our
country. As many of you do not know the words, your teachers will hand them
out to you.

Denver

Good morning.

It is a bright and beautiful morning here in the Mile High City of Denver.  We have high wind warnings and that is always a concern for grass fires as it is so dry.  It will not be as warm today as the past couple of days, so no window opening and airing the place out for us today.

GLORIA, I so wish we could have all of our schools run like the one you have shared with us this morning!  We would not have the hate that seems to have taken over our country like it seems it has.  It would not be that hard to follow these thoughts IF only we all would try!

AMY, I have been looking at the site that you shared.  I did enjoy the Texas Hill Country and it brought back so many fine memories of our time of being there. I still have a hard time grasping that Hal is gone.  Thank you for the memories and for the continued ones as I plane to visit this sight often and enjoy the beauty of what this person has made for many to enjoy.

LARRY, the pine pollen is one part of spring that I do not look forward to.  We have many pine trees around our home and it is truly a mess.
Yes, is the answer to your question about my fall.  Bob had taken my iPad from me to go plug it in, so he had it in one hand, and used his other hand to give me a pull up.  I told him I felt dizzy and I was attempting to sit back down in my chair, but before I knew it I was on the ground.  Unfortunately because he had the iPad in one hand he only had ahold of one of my hands....but I do believe it would have been much worse without his holding on to me.  Hence the reason I have a big bruise on that hand.  Looking back, there were several other ways it could have gone....some better and some much worse.  Falls are something we all have to be so careful of.  Thank you for your concern and good insight to making sure to not be moving to9 quickly when we stand up.  I, too, love listening to the Irish Tenors.

JOY, I wish I could have had one of your home made biscuits this morning with you.  They sure sounded good.  So many of you in our group do things that I USED to do, and it sure does make me feel lazy!

CALLIE, I will definitely seek help if I have anymore of these dizzy spells.  Thank you for your concern.  I was so lucky to not have something further happen.  Of course, I have the soreness that comes after a fall, but I could have had a big ol hole in my head! 😱
I thought of table umbrellas as well, and had to laugh to myself do the thought of it being the umbrellas that people were carrying❣️

I love reading about all the quilts and quilting that many of you do, without mentioning each name....my only retreat is that we can not see the fine work that you do.  I have many quilts and knitted blankets that have been handed down to me and I cherish each and every one of them, knowing the hours of hard work and love that go into making them.  Sadly, I am not sure anyone beyond me will cherish them like I do and I wonder what will happen to them?  It makes me sad.

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday......I am thinking about Our June and hoping she shows up soon.  Also, keeping good thoughts for Jane, that she and her niece make it home safe after the weekend visit to her sisters.  She did say she would. check in.....maybe she was just having too much fun to be thinking about us.

Good Morning,

Well, I "paid the penalty" for planting 18 pansy plants - even if they were in planters and not in the ground.
I could barely move when I got up this morning and, when I did,  it HURT!
Can't take aspirin on an empty stomach and have to wait an hour after first morning pill for breakfast - so it was too late to get to church by the time all of that clicked in.  Bleah!

Amy,  we could have another freeze or two but not the ice, etc.   Oklahoma has quite a few "regions".  Here's a link https://www.travelok.com/article_page/oklahomasdiverseecoregions
The general Oklahoma City area, where I live, is known as The Crosstimbers because it's more or less the dividing line between the High Plains of western Oklahoma and the heavily timbered eastern Oklahoma. (Think Interstate 35 as a dividing line).

Jenny,  seems we have to "think" about so many more movements, etc. as we "age".   >:(

Re: quilting:    I'm reading some novels by Jennifer Chiaverini called "The Elm Creek Quilt series".  The main characters are quilters who get together at a "quilt camp" once a year.  The plots always center around quilt patterns but the author works them into historical events.
Just finished "The Runaway Quilt" that's about a quilt pattern used to signal the location of "safe houses" for slaves escaping to Canada.
I didn't realize there are so many named patterns.    There are diagrams of all the ones mentioned in the stories.

OMT about the gas leak situation:    The plumber and the ONG rep both knew about the Safety Inspection company.  Apparently,  they check neighborhoods at random - basically for leaks in the ONG pipes leading from the meter  - but also checking the pipes coming directly out of the house to the one coming from the meter, which are the homeowner's responsibility.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good afternoon, cloudy, some roads are still closed near the ocean. Still, a few power outages,  Last night people had to be evacuated from the South shore, as the tides came way up into their streets.  Maybe snow later to day, and other  Nor'easter by Wed.

Joy, my MIL from Ala. started making biscuits when she was 5, and still was making them once a day when sh was 90. she had a wooden bowl she use, and I think it was almost as old as she was. Over 600 trees blew down or was damage in Queens, and a lot of erosion out here, ocean still coming over the homes and dunes on the beach.

Larry, I remember hanging out cloths.  We lived in and apartment and I had to hang out the window and use a pulley  cloth line. I had to wash every day, as Dennis was a baby and in those days you had to wash the diapers every day.  I would hang them out and bring them in like cardboard they were frozen stiff.

gloria, I wish we had more principles to day, like that one you posted.

Loved those scenes of Texas, a field of Blue bonnets must be beautiful

Jane hope we hear from you soon.

June Drabek

A strange Sunday. I was all ready for Chapel, right down to the last sprits of cologne, ready to walk out the door, but God said NO. I felt a little buzzing in my head, so I lay down on my bed before I fell down. Who knows why or how these things happen, but it is best to heed the warning. After a while I changed to "loafing" clothing, and was just falling asleep, when my son and daughter in love walked through the door. They had finished up at their Church and stopped for lunch then popped in to see Mom, and showed me wonderful pictures of their trip to Hawaii. What heavenly scenery !!

I did accomplish one thing today. I spent almost two hours ordering my months supply of foodstuffs to be delivered tomorrow. And glad I am to have that done. Still want to place another order with Amazon, but that can wait for another day.

I pray for all those that are having wicked weather, and Jenny, don't treat that fall lightly. It may be a warning signal for future problems.

Lloyd, you have been pretty quiet lately. I hope all is well with that breathing machine you need for restful sleep. And I miss your friend Peter too...he was doing well for a few days, so I hope all is well in his corner of our world.

To all of you...keep well and safe. We need one another. Hugs and Prayers, June.

Good morning everyone..

Hubby has two appointments today both right here in town. I saw a few flakes of snow falling ,hope they don't get the idea of mobbing us!

Joy, I can imagine once started it would be like trying to eat just one potato chip! Are you going the ball or pine cone one?

Larry, I have brought the clothes in off the line in winter and you could stand the jeans up and then watch them slowly collapse as the frost came out of them.

June , that was a wise choice and it was so nice of your family to stop in and tell and you of their vacation. Hope you feel a lot better today.

Gloria de wouldn't it be nice to walk through a field of blue bonnets? I can't help but think of what might lay hidden in them though as I know there are rattlers there.Glad you didn't lose power.

Callie, thank you for the link, that was very interesting.
Jenny hope your aches and pains today are small. After a fall like that we have so many places that hurt!

Gloria, thank you for the read.  So sad that "some" don't want to include God yet when their time comes God will include them.

Hope Jane is home safe and sound and ready to share her weekend with us :)

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, 31° and snowing and windy still. So far only grassy areas cars and roofs are covered.  More snow forecast for Wednesday but only 6 inches then. Shouldn't say "only" because I am elderly and remember when getting snow that was always more that 12 inches.

AMY  what a wonderful link to start my day. Beautiful pictures and nice music. Thank you. Makes one think of Hal and his stories of camping and fishing.

JENNY  would love to open windows for even a few minutes but that will not happen till it reaches 60° so the heating pipes will not freeze. The witch can run the AC in her office but we do not have them up here yet. Hers is in the wall under her window. I agree, schools run like in that story are a dream these days. I do not remember so much stress about color and race when I was in school and we had all colors and races and all got along together.

CALLIE  oh what you do to enjoy planting flowers to enjoy. Been a long time since I had a place to plant flowers in a yard. Hope those muscles aren't as sore today. I will read more about y our state after I post. Sounds interesting. Arizona is the only western state I have been through and that fascinated me with the variety there. In this state you have this area and the ocean front, no mountains but lot of trees and too many buildings. The highest point in this state is 812 feet high and on private land.

GLORIA de  there is still areas here with no power. Most of the state is covered by National Grid but this town has it's own power and seem to get power back much faster. Those working for the power  company live here and want their power. Glad I have no appointments this week with these storms. I think these days principals are afraid to speak out like the one in that story.

JUNE  you were smart to listen to your body and stay home. Glad that Gary and Dori visited you with pictures of Hawaii. When I was young I wanted to visit there. Take care of YOU.

LLOYD  as long as you come in here every day and just say hello we know you are OK.

AMY  I remember those winter days of hanging clothes out and then prying the ends off the line where the clothes pins held them. The joys of dryers now but that fresh air smell is missing. Like you I will be glad to see a post from Jane.

Do You Feel There Is No Hope?
(By Christine Chipman)

In your times of deep despair,
Do you feel there is no hope?
As the darkness closes in on you,
Do you feel you cannot cope?

As you struggle on through every trial,
Do you say "When will it end"?
As you cry yourself to sleep at night,
Do you wish you had a friend?

When your body's racked with aches and pains,
Do you feel you are alone?
When you think about the future,
Do you fear the great unknown?

There is someone who really cares,
And He hears your every cry.
His arms are reaching out to you,
And on Him you can rely.

When things close in around you,
He sees your fear and doubt -
He wants to hold you in His arms,
And He will never cast you out.

As you stumble through the darkness,
He will be your guiding light.
He wants to wipe away your tears,
For you are precious in His sight.

Reach out right now to Jesus,
And let Him take complete control -
He'll take that heavy burden,
And He'll touch and make you whole.

He's reaching out His arms to you,
And He wants to be your friend.
Let Him take you in His loving arms,
For His love will never end.

im not home yet. I'm waiting for Bridget to pick me up. She has to be back to college by 10:30. Had a great visit. Even got to see my nephew when he showed up unexpectedly.

My sis and I got a lot done that she hasn't been able to do because she can't see to drive. And we talked about anything and everything.

AMY, I have walked through a field of blue bonnets. My daughter lives in Texas and I went down one spring and we did the bluebonnet trail. We got out lots of places and took lots of pictures and we had a lovely two days together.

My grandniece just texted that she's on the way so I have to pack this up and be ready when she gets here. Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  It is a another beautiful day here although it is quite chilly this morning, down to around 34 but again will get to the mid-60's.  I have a light day planned for today.  This morning I will drop off a return package at Fed EX on my way to Aldi's to pick up a few items.  From there I will go to Walmart to pick up Pat's big grocery order and come home and unload it and help put it away.  That will probably be it.  I think we plan on just having a salad supper this evening with chicken for Pat and tuna for me.

Yesterday morning when I plugged in the old toaster oven it made a sizzling noise and then started to burn around the plug with fire shooting out.  Fortunately I was still standing there so could grab the cord and unplug it.  It went immediately into the trash can. I bet we have been using it for 25 to 30 years.  So now Pat gets to pick out a new one. We are also going to have to return the new phone that Pat got as the conversations are garbled and the battery doesn't want to stay charged.  I ordered her a new and better phone last evening.  There really aren't too many choices available in an old fashioned basic flip phone.

I did enjoy watching the golf from Mexico City yesterday and it was a pretty exciting finish.  The old guy beat all of the younger ones as Phil Mickelson won the $1.7 million dollar prize.  Of course the runner up also made over $1 million dollars.

Lloyd, we have a bread machine but haven't used it for many years.  The bread always smelled so good while it was cooking and tasted so good when it was ready to eat.

Gloria, I also wish we didn't switch the time twice a year.  I doubt that a High School Principal would have a job in a public school these days were he to implement such a program as the speech shows although it would be a great thing.  Perhaps that could be done in a private school. Unfortunately we have been encouraged to have class warfare.  I try to treat all people the same until they give me a reason not to do so but even then a smile is always non-aggressive.

Amy, those pictures in the link you shared are beautiful.  I sent myself an email so I can download them on my laptop as they will make beautiful and somewhat challenging jigsaw puzzles with my Brainsbreaker Jigsaw puzzle program.

Jenny, I agree that losing Hal was a great loss to our Soda Shoppe family.  I noticed more pine pollen on my
car when I got into it after Church yesterday.  I am always glad when the season is over.  I am sure glad Bob was able to help break your fall and the bruise will heal and much better than damage to your head.  I keep after Pat to write to her doctor asking for a prescription for a Rollator she could use when we leave the house.  She walks very little without the walker here in the house. Like you I sure hope we hear from Jane today.  I fear she may be where there is no power.

Callie, hope the aches are much better today. I sent Pat a quick email with the author and series of books you mentioned.  I expect she is aware of her as know she has listened to books about quilting groups. A number of years ago we went to one of those quilting groups up in the North Georgia mountains for a three day retreat.

deAngel, did you watch the golf yesterday.  That one shot on the 18th by the man who ended up coming in second in the playoff was really something and he was as surprised as the spectators.  Sure hope the snow didn't arrive in your area yesterday.  Now that you and Amy mention it I also remember that the jeans would stand up when taken down from the clothes line until they warmed up.  I also remember the old diaper pails and having to wash diapers a lot as we had two in diapers at the same time for awhile as our two children were 15 months apart.

June, glad you avoided another fall yesterday and were close to your bed.  Hope that "bee" in your head stays away from you.

Gloria, thanks for that Christine Chipman piece.

Jane, so good to see your post this morning and it sounds like you and your sister faired well over the weekend with the storms.

Merry Monday, Everyfriend,

Larry,  please tell Pat that "The Quilter's Apprentice" is the first book in the Elm Creek Quilt series.  It sets the scene, so to speak, for the rest of the books.   There are currently 20 books in the series.  I can get most of them in e-book form from my library.

Gloria,  the highest point in Oklahoma is 5,239 feet on the Black Mesa in the Panhandle;  the lowest point is 284 feet in the southeastern part of the state.   It's 503 miles between them via turnpikes/interstates.

"Squeaks and creaks" are better today.   No rain fell at my house yesterday so I will need to water the "pot garden".  I don't think that will be as hard as putting in the plants, though.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

I'm home safe and sound.  Everything is put away and the dogs are dozing in their usual spots.  I must say that Bridget is  and excellent driver and did not give me even one anxious moment.  However, she talks a blue streak and I'm afraid my ears fell off on the way home!  I love listening to her.  I hear family things and school things and get all caught up.  She's such a sweetheart and so smart!

I think I'm going to take a shower and put on some comfortable clothes and take a nap this afternoon.  Now THAT sounds like a plan!  I hope you are all having nice weather and enjoying your day!

Good afternoon, it is now cloudy and quite cold and very windy. The shore line is still having trouble with extra high tides.  Big storm again for Wed. and another to follow on Sunday.

Amy when we lived in a house in Ronknonkoma. My husband 2nd job in the lighting Co. was resident Sub Station Operator, the sub station was in the yard, about 10 ft. from the porch. Well that house had and open floor furnace. I had a portable wooden dryer which I put put over the opening and finishing drying the frozen cloths. On a real cold day, even I would stand on the grate. One word brings up such memories.

Gloria, Linda (DIL) was out of power 2 days on the Cape. She had only the fireplace. As I wrote above my husband worked for the Lighting Co. nearly 40 years.  Started out as grass cutter, the week Dennis was born, making 95cents and hr. Worked up to Sub Station Insp. for . all of Eastern Long Island. After we moved here, we had a couple of hurricanes, and we would get power after a few hours, even before the rest of the park, and all the neighbor would say: Cy's lives here that why.He would say it because two sub station were about a quarter   of a mile from here the line went by our road on the way to connect to the hospital. I guess thats more then you wanted to know.

Janegood to see you safe home.

Larry and MaryAnn, that was good golf yesterday.  glad to see Phil win. I felt bad for the fellow from India, he had done so well the first two days. He had been listed as 465 on the list of golfers.

Happy Friendship week

     I've learned
that no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone need a friend to act goofy with

     I've learned
that sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand

     I've learned
That walks with my father around the block on summer night when I was a child did wonders fr me as an adult.

     I learned
That  life is like a roll of toilet paper
The closer it get to the end, the faster it goes

     I've learned
     That money doesn't buy class

There is more, but I will finish to morrow

Gloria d, the young man from India (Sharma) is only 21 and I know we'll hear more of him in the future.  He led for quite a while.  His father was in the crowd.

I think the things you've learned was written by Andy Rooney, if not, he wrote something similar.  Very wise words.

We've enjoyed such nice weather the past few days, but radar looks as if we'll be getting snow for a couple of days starting tomorrow.

A good evening.....this day has passed so quickly!  They all seem to do that anymore!

GLORIA de, I like the Andy Rooney quotes as well.

GLORIA, Sharma  is quite the golfer....I think he will be around a lot in the future.  I was elated the my boy, “Lefty” pulled it out.  I have pulled for him since his college days at AZ State.

Welcome home, JANE. happy to read that you had a nice visit as well as safe travel both ways.

WOW LARRY, the fireworks show from your toaster sounded frightening!  The nerve of the old thing to go out of service with such a show!  Glad nothing was hurt....nice that you were standing there and could get to the plug fast.

AMY, I remember those frozen jeans standing up on their own as well....I still love the smell and softness of lined dried clothing.

Regarding daylight savings time....I do not know of one person that says they like it!  There are statistics tha5 prove there are a; increase of accidents at both times of the year that we change!  I do not care which way they leave it....but I sure wish the6 would leave it alone and let us deal with it!

JUNE, I am happy that you had a surprise visit from your son and
diðŸ'—.  I know you enjoyed looking at th pictures and hearing about their Hawaii trip.  Hope you had a better day today and are feeling stronger.

I put a chuck roast in the crock pot and it sure is smelling good.  My plan was to try it in the  pressure cooker,  but I love the way it turns out in the crock pot....so that is how I did it.

I wish you all a good night....
