When my granddaughter Keilei was 8, she asked me, “Grandma, does God answer prayers?”

“Yes, he does,” I replied.

Then she asked, “Will he give you whatever you ask for?”

Again, I replied yes.

Then Keilei lifted her arms and yelled, “Thank you, Jesus! Grandma’s getting me a dog!”

THANK YOU, KEITH for the update on Gloria.
I was absent for a few days and only now can I wish Gloria prompt recovery. I am glad to hear she is well looked after.

Lloyd, ha ha that was a great joke.  My grandson is dying to have a dog but if he gets one that will be his mom's decision, not mine.   I am not sure I am ready for dog sitting together with baby sitting!

Jenny, I hope that by now all is well with your husband and you can relax. :)

Have a splendid day, friends.

Good morning everyone. Just heard local forecast and bad news, another nor'easter in it for us next Wednesday. That would be 4 in less than 3 weeks. Maybe the snow will dispersal by the end of April?

JANE  so many places called off work on Tuesday, even second son stayed home and that is very unusual for him.

MARY ANN  in the blizzard we had in 1978 we had 60 inches of snow and drifts that were 8feet high and higher. Our street did not get cleared for 6 days. We were stuck at the end of a dead end street till then. It was beautiful when I looked out yesterday morning, everything was white. I did see one lady out there taking pictures.

LARRY  ever had a Belgian waffle with strawberries and cream? YUMMY. One restaurant has that for breakfast, fresh waffles and not frozen. This town does a good job clearing roads. This time most people paid attention and stayed off the roads so the plows did not have to contend with them. Wow that is a very lightweight rollator Pat ordered.

KEITH  good news about Gloria de. You are doing great letting us know what is going on with her. I never touched a computer till I was 70. Wanted nothing to do with it until my oldest son gave me his old one. Then all I did was email until I decided I wanted to get online and found the old SN and then here in S&F.

JENNY  I wish the best for Bob. Seems like a long time to wait for the result.

AMY  I don't think you could ever move slow enough to let grass grow under your feet.

CALLIE  I have see pictures of the Bradford and Cleveland pear trees. If I remember right one is more cone shaped and the other is rounder.

JUNE  glad you could picture how every thing looked yesterday morning. Just like a Christmas card beautiful.

BUBBLE  thank you for the new page and the beautiful graphics. Aww you do not know what you are missing without a couple of feet of snow. By this time of year though I am very ready for more springlike weather.

Busy
Sorry, I dont have the time
To talk to you today
Im too busy with my life
To hear what youve to say

Ive got this thing to do right now
And it cant wait a sec
But maybe if things do ease up
Can I get a raincheck?

Not sure when that will be though
This thing is so high stakes
Im so invested and full-blast
I cant put on the brakes

I wish I could put it on hold
And ask whats new with you
But you have to understand
My spare moments are few

Ive barely got the time to eat
Or make a change of clothes
Or watch the playoff game tonight
Or other favourite shows

Sorry, I wish I could help
Theres so much going on
Im so tied up in my affairs
Im just a bit withdrawn

With what is going on around
The world outside of me
Hopefully Ill have time to
Open my eyes and see

That the greatest purpose in
Life is to serve others
Maybe once things calm a bit
Ill have time for my brothers

Ill tell you what, this thing Ive got
Could hold on just a bit
Its not the end of the world if
We take the time to sit

And now that I think twice about
This other thing Ive got
It wont take as much time as I
Thought that it would allot

And since theres times Im really bored
And have nothing to do
Id feel like such a hypocrite
To have no time for you

When I stop and ponder how
The word busy is used
I realize Im just asking
Myself to be excused

For only having time for me
And my selfish affairs
Its not a word thats ever used
By anyone who cares

So strike what I said earlier
Im not busy at all
My stuff can wait till later on
Ive got time for your call

Its funny how despite how busy
Every day would seem
I didnt realize that times
Passing was not extreme

Theres always moments to step back
From our busy days work
Service is the one job that
We shouldnt ever shirk

Good morning g everyone...
A little bit of snow not enough to take the shovel to....think Mr Sun will burn it off if he pokes his nose out today.

I did start another quilt yesterday ,just need to put the border on and make the binding. Tomorrow I will be able to take 4 quilt tops in two for adults and two can be camp quilts for the kids.

Gloria, good morning....gosh you folks have a lot of snow.Hope it is easy enough to move and not that heavy wet stuff ,the one that causes heart attacks! Thank you for the Busy poem a keeper for sure.

Bubble, thank you for the graphics and laughs.

Better get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Got this in my email..

Children In Church

"How many women can a man marry?"

"Sixteen," the boy responded.

His cousin was amazed that he had an answer so quickly.

"How do you know that?"

"Easy," the little boy said.

"All you have to do is add it up, like the pastor said, 4 better, 4 worse, 4 richer, 4 poorer."

A little girl became restless as the preacher's sermon dragged on and on.

Finally, she leaned over to her mother and whispered, "Mummy, if we give him the money now, will he let us go?"

Ms. Terri asked her Sunday School class to draw pictures of their favourite Bible stories. She was puzzled by Kyle's picture, which showed four people on an airplane, So she asked him which story it was meant to represent.

"The Flight to Egypt ," was his reply.

Pointing at each figure, Ms. Terri said, "That must be Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus.

But who's the fourth person?"

"Oh, that's Pontius - the pilot!"

The Sunday School Teacher asks, "Now, Johnny, tell me frankly do you say prayers before eating?"

"No ma'am," little Johnny replies, I don't have to. My mom is a good cook.

A little girl was sitting on her grandfather's lap as he read her a bedtime story.

From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek.

She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again.

Finally she spoke up, "Grandpa, did God make you?"

"Yes, sweetheart," he answered, "God made me a long time ago"

"Oh," she paused, "Grandpa, did God make me too?"

"Yes, indeed, honey," he said, "God made you just a little while ago."

Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, "God's getting better at it, isn't he?"

Hi Everyone.  Today starts are as a very chilly 32 degrees but will be getting into the 50's later today.  We also have a fire warning as our humidity is to be between 15 and 20% today.  This morning I will pick up my friend from assisted living and we will go downtown for coffee.  Before I pick him up I will make a quick stop at Walmart to pick up some prescriptions for both Pat and I.  This afternoon I plan on attending the funeral service for the wife of one the men who is in our coffee group.  Then I will watch some of the basketball games as the big NCAA Tourney gets underway.

After dinner at the church last night we picked up our grocery order from Walmart and Scott came on out to the house.  Jennifer is sick and stayed home where she needed to be.  Scott was here for only an hour or so and he wasn't feeling up to par.  We had beef stew at dinner and beef often riles up his IBS as it did last evening.

Keith, I hope Gloria De will be able to come home today and I know you will take good care of her.  I hope you will continue to post here and let us get to know you.  Do you have your own laptop?  We always welcome new folks and they quickly become good friends here in our discussions.

Jenny, I hope your Boston family has been able to dig themselves out of the snow.  I didn't realize that the MOHs procedure couldn't be used with melanoma.  I sure hope that open wound isn't too painful and that the final report will be that the cancer has been removed.  Good to read your cold was somewhat better yesterday and hope today you are feeling even better.

Amy, do you take your cars to a car wash?  I saw my neighbor across the street washing his car in his driveway a few days ago on one of the warm days we have had.  I will have to ask Pat about the nesting of the seams you mentioned.  I know she always presses the seams on her quilt blocks.

Jane, sorry to hear you had such a busy register to work on half of your shift.  Finding a friendly and smiling cashier or other employee sure is a bonus when we shop.

Callie, we had a beautiful Bradford Pear in the front yard of our home in Georgia and we expected it to break down at anytime as they do not last a long time but it didn't.  It had just been planted when we moved there but grew into a very large and full tree.

June, I don't mind cleaning up the kitchen after Pat cooks or after a meal.  I just am not a very good cook and wear down pretty quickly when trying to cook anything that takes much effort.  The Rollator is to be delivered next Tuesday and Scott will be here on Wednesday evening and will put it together for his mother.  I hope you enjoy your freshly washed carpets.

Bubble, those are cute graphics you made for St. Patrick's Day.  Thanks for getting us started on a fresh page.  That was a funny little story and a cute riddle.

Gloria, what are you all doing up there in the NE to be getting so many nor'easter storms.  This will be a winter not soon forgotten.  I am not a big fan of strawberries nor cream so that would not be my choice for a waffle.  I have had blueberries and whipped cream on them and that was good.  This was a freshly baked waffle as far as I know and had a very good flavor and the ice cream made it really delicious.  That "Busy" reading is so true.  People need other people in their lives.  I can't image not having time to talk with my friends.  I don't go to the Wednesday night dinners at the Church for the food but for the friends.

Amy, do you use fairly large blocks in your quilts?  You are really churning those quilt tops out.  I loved those Children's stories.

JaneS

:)Good Morning Everyfriend!  I not only got a little nap in yesterday; I slept like a log last night and we didn't get up until almost 7:30 this morning.  All our snow is gone but they are predicting some overnight tonight.  It's not supposed to be much and probably won't stay around long because tomorrow is supposed to be sunny.

The church stories reminds me of the time my daughter and I took Granddaughter Allison to church on Christmas Eve.  She was very well-behaved for most of the service but she finally whispered, "Is it time to go home yet?"  I whispered back "Not yet".  And she waited a while and asked again.  Same answer....4 times.  She'd finally had it and stood up and announced in a loud voice, "Then I'm takin' off my dress!"  The church just happened to be quiet at that time and almost everyone snickered, chuckled or laughed aloud....except her mother!

I'm off today and I have the rest of the day until I meet Kiran's bus.  Wonder what I'll do with it?

Good Afternoon,

Bubble, thanks for opening a new Soda Shoppe and for the graphics.  <giggling> at the frog !!!

Larry,  the Bradford Pears that the builder planted in each unit's yard had gotten so large that the HOA was afraid they would topple and removed them.  The replacements are nice trees but not nearly as pretty.

When my grandson was 3 or 4 he went down with his mother to receive Communion.  The priest smiled and patted him on the head but, of course, didn't offer him the sacraments.  A woman deacon (?) was the server the next time he/Mom went and he gave her his most angelic look with hands prayerfully folded.  On the way back to their seats he announced loudly,  "She didn't give me any, either!"

Beautiful sunny day in central Oklahoma.  A friend and I have just been to a tea room for lunch.

Now I need to start preparations for Miss Emily to come for lunch tomorrow.  I've decided we'll have a "Ladies Luncheon" and may even get out the good china (since I'll only have to wash 2 place settings )

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Doesn't take long for a day to disappear. I hung laundry out and it blew dry in no time.  Finished cleaning the windows in the vans and pick over and packed the quilt tops to go tomorrow.

Larry, hubby put a fire on in the garage and I washed both vehicles there, nice and warm :)

Joy, is missing??

Sandy, love your new avatar, it this a pet of yours? Beautiful bird for sure.

Jane, I am  sure you found lots to do.....I bet your having fun with Kiran too.

June, we have a transport wheel chair and a rollator. Both have been used many times when hubby wasn't up for the long walks. A blessing to have when feet just don't want to co-operate.

Lloyd, how did your day go? Hope all went well for a change.

Better go see what I can get into :))

Amy,  I am still around.  It has been a very lazy day.  Nothing exciting to talk about.  Have had several naps and now trying to decide what I can fix for my dinner.  I have been so cold all day, so have just been wrapped up in my afghan,  read on my Kindle for a while, and slept in between.

I just don't know when it is going to warm up. They are calling for another snow storm coming up the east coast on Tuesday,  the first day of Spring ! Just lovely !!!!   NOT !

But, thanks for asking for me.  Hello to all the Friends !

Hello to all my old friends/I am back--hanging on by my toenails in an assisted-living facility.  Really a top-notch facility.

Looking forward to celebrate my 97th birthday in May.  It is going to be a tuff job staying away
from the crematorium as I keep adding new ailments.  Still get around with a walker, but use a wheelchair for longer jaunts.

It has been a long time since my last post here and some of the topics have disappeard and been replaced by some new ones.

Shirley

I didn't take notes & have been in several times a day to read, kept thinking I would wait to talk until I had time to make sense, I don't think that time will come!!!

Callie, we planted a Cleveland pear in the front yard and also in the back.  The one in front looks so scraggly & ugly (except when the leaves are brilliant red next to the sweet gum bright yellow), and the one in back is a gorgeous shape & very full.  They do have little marble size "pears" that the squirrels eat.  I got photos of one this week in all positions as it pulled the pears to it's mouth to eat.  I will get some photos resized & post.  Those squirrels will eat anything!

Kevin, thank you for the news of "our" other Gloria.  We have all had name changes when moving here from Senior Net and when a crash came to this site a time or two, and some of us just use an alias cause we want to.  Maybe it has something to do with the name, but seems to me both Gloria & Gloria de are feisty and full of fun. Glad you are around to keep track of Linedancer.  Gloria, do behave yourself for a while.   :nanadance: :bravo: :noway:

Joy, I'd gladly share that snow with you.... we are so dry the sprinklers are coughing up sand (NOT kidding!)

Jenny, hope you are all better by now.  I did read & sympathize with you all along.   :aaah:  Have not seen how Bob is doing so need to come back later to check on him.

Bubble, thanks for the graphics & thanks to all that post the funnies.  I do copy many and attach to messages to my kids.

Oh... news just talked about a German Shepherd going to Japan instead of Kansas City..& the other one that died during the flight.  United is going to pay big time for that.  Hey, accidents happen just like old LaurenKat slipping out of my RV last summer.  I'm still feeling awful guilty about that.

Past time to feed cats.......... Hi to all.   :nahna:    Shirley

Great to see you, Ray, was thinking about you the other day & wondering how you are doing.  Lynn hasn't been around, either.  Hang in, takes a while to get everyone used to doing things YOUR way, right?

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

I did not see a post from Our June.   I do hope you are doing OK and we will see you soon.

This has been a stressful day for me....having to dress Bob’s “wound” has proven to be a challenge.  Thank God for Dr. Dave supplying us with items to dress it as well as directions of how to use them.  When the surgery was finished and Bobs head all wrapped, he asked them what he should do to keep his wound dressed, they told him to just keep it covered with a bandaid.  Well you can imagine my shock when I unwrapped it to see that there was no bandaid that was going to cover this thing.  After Dave saw a picture of it, he told me he would give me some supplies as I would not be able to cover it with out special sized covers.  I was in shock to see the size of the wound and how it was so open......Dave was appalled that any doctor would leave it that way, even though he is sure the reason she left it that way is incase she has to go in and take more.  The part he did not understand is why she would want to leave it for a week.  We are just doing our best to keep it clean so there will be no infection.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  I do appreciate them so much.

I do not know if any of you are aware, but sadly the little boy, Tripp, that was injured when a tree limb fell, crushing his head over 5years ago at his day care center, has passed away this evening.  It was a shock to read the news.  My thoughts and prayers for Stacy and Bill, as well as all of his extended family.  They all loved and cared for him so much, and he will be terribly missed by all who have followed his story for the past many years.  RIP sweet little angel.

Sleep well.  Pleasant dreams to all.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I read everything and will pray for those who need it (and add some for those who don't so they continue well)

JENNY, special prayers for your Bob that infection stays away and an extra prayer for the little boy who is with God.

RAY, it's so good to see you and you're setting an example for all of us to try to achieve!  What a milestone you've reached.  The next one is 100.  I'll see you there!

I'm off on a busy day early this morning.  My SIL will drop my daughter, Cathy, here for me to take for her colonoscopy a little later.  I'll be looking after her as long as she needs me.  I took the day off for her.  So if I don't get back, you all know why.

Enjoy your day!

Good morning, Amy and all the other early morning friends.

It is just now starting to get daylight, and I have been up for a while.   Woke up and decided to get up and get an early start on this Friday.

Don't know what is in the plans for today yet.  I do know I have to go downstairs to pick up my mail from yesterday and see if our manager is in today. She has been out almost all week.   My son has lost the fob that he needs to swipe to get into our building.  I sure am hoping they will replace it.  I will have to pay for another one, but it is something that is needed.  Not matter how old our kids are,  we still have to remind them to "put things away".  He is not sure whether he used it last or my DIL used it.  But, they have searched both cars and gone through jacket and coat pockets.   My DIL said they will probably find it when we get the new one.

So, getting to talk to the manager will be first on the agenda for today.  Then, we will see what I can get into for later.

Do hope that everyone will have a good day.  They are still calling for another storm on the first day of Spring.  Hopefully, that will be the last of our winter snow storms.  So ready for some nice warm weather.

Off to get some breakfast.

G'morning All. still cold here but dry, very cold and snow forecast for the weekend, maybe tonight ?, had a small panic here late yesterday evening, our central heating boiler broke down,we are on our Gas Companies Emergency 'At Risk' Register, thank goodness, so a quick phone call and 45 minutes later we had the service engineer out and restoring our boiler  again, a close call for this time of the year !, the down side is the engineer recommended that we should start to think about a new Boiler !, as the old saying goes, it never rains but it pours !, lol, but at least, we had a nice warm night !.
Carol, hope you do not mind ?, i sent you a private message,  :)...

Good morning everyone, 27° just watching latest  weather on TV and now the next nor'easter comes in Tuesday late and go into Thursday so Wednesday will be a wipe out again. That  will make  of them in 3 weeks. This has been more like January or February than March. Have an appointment on Thursday so today I will call to reschedule and the same with the car for my ride. I always try not  to have appointments in the winter months and thought by the end of March it would be OK. The warmer March sun this week has melted a lot of the snow from last week but every morning there is black ice around.

AMY  the last snow was a heavy one the weighed down wires and tree limbs. It was so beautiful to see in the sunshine of the morning after. The branches on the pine trees on the other side of the parking lot were bent to the ground and I am surprised none broke. Love your Children in Church. Hope you do not mind if I copy it.

LARRY  yesterday afternoon and last night the local ABC channel had nothing but basketball on. Looks like the RI teams are doing good this year but I do not follow them. I think we have had some pretty easy winters for a few years and Mother Nature wants us to remember what she can do when she decides we need to remember.

JANE  I can imagine the red face on your daughter when Allison piped up in church.

PETER  nice seein your post. Is your granddaughter an artist?

JOY  I am with you keeping warm this winter. Yep another storm to welcome spring, don't need it.

SHIRLEY  if you were here you would have a chance to use that tube of yours down a hill.

LLOYD  getting interested in a good western is better than work.

JENNY  makes you wonder about why doctors do things if even your son was surprised at the sight of Bob's surgery. He is in my prayers that nothing is found and it will heal with no problems. Sad about the little boy.

JANE  prayers for your daughter that no polyps are found.

AMY  no stop for lunch out today?

Cynthia is my name
Cynthia Groopman

Adding smiles and cheering others when they are lonely or sad is my fame.
A listening ear I do possess
Hearing tales of sadness and sending hugs and singing songs of happiness.
Having a truly personal relationship with the Holy One, blessed be he
Nourishes my heart, mind and soul with inner serenity
Laughing and playing games with others to have good clean fun
Keeps the mind active and on the run.
Poetry and inspirational stories taken from my treasure chest of memories I do compose and share,
The words just pour out from my fountain of inspiration deep in my heart and my mind dancing with regal flare.
A good retentive memory and the ability to read or hear texts and they become part of me.
Enriches my life tremendously
Sometimes frustrated or anxious I can be.
However, with others who care to list and with God, I again feel reassured, crowned with tranquility
A public speaker I have become, without having to be concerned about what to say.
When I get onto a stage, the words just dance out of my mouth in a sprightly dancing way.
The only thing I yearn for is to be treated with respect and dignity and to be part of a group.
Never to be shunned, left out or not included in the loop.
Words and hugs of appreciation, I do give.,
For that is how we as the human family can successfully live,
I too, crave for appreciation and embraces
And for smiles in voices and sunshine radiating from others' faces.
Now you know about me,
And my talents and personality.
