I came home from work, tired, hungry, wet and some other things.  I've since eaten, fed the dogs, taken care of "other" things, changed my clothes, put on my slippers and now I'm about to take care of the "tired" part.  I see zzzzs floating all over the place.  I think they're trying to tell me something.

Good Afternoon,

Crazy temperatures in central Oklahoma.  Don't know whether to wear shorts or a parka!   ::)

Just learned that my closest friend in the old neighborhood died yesterday.  We were the kind of friends who knew where everything was in the other one's kitchen .  We hadn't spent much time together since we both moved to other parts of town but had still kept in contact.  I knew her health was failing but hadn't realized it had become so serious.

This is the 4th near and dear long-time friend I've lost since Thanksgiving.  Combined with the ones who are now in Memory Care because of varying forms of dementia,  I'm feeling a bit  :'( right now.

On a Happier Note:
Grandson, who is on college Spring Break) was here for 3 hours yesterday.  He took the trellises out of three patio planters, cleaned the planters and put in new potting soil;  way beyond time to replace the English ivy that twines up the trellises in the summer.  Then he cleaned and rearranged the solar garden lights so there are more in each flower bed, two in the bed under the bird feeder and one near the sidewalk to the front door.  Next, he swept up and bagged all the leaves from under the a/c and on the patio.
And THEN, he demolished most of the dozen slider sandwiches and quite a few of the cookies I had baked for him.   :smitten:
We had a delightful visit.

Miss Ellen and seven friends from college who now live in NYC have planned a "Cabaret" type show at a venue set up for that sort of thing - tomorrow night.  I texted her asking if the show could be postponed if the weather was as awful as it sounds.  She replied that it's supposed to be better tomorrow and The Show Will Go On unless the venue tells them no. She said she doesn't have time to deal with everything rescheduling would require.
Hope they can get it done - and have at least a reasonably good and receptive audience (with, maybe, some casting people or scouts! )

Phyllis and Jane,  being a "curmudgeonette" has been on my Bucket List for quite a while.   ;D

I miss the Dairy Queens that used to be here.  I think there's one in Moore (where Larry used to live) but that's waaaaay on the other side of OKC from me.

Have a few Domestic Duties to finish before assuming the Recliner Radish position.  (Hmmm.....maybe that should be added to Yoga   )

Hoping Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

? do any of you know what a 3 year old and a eighty year ole have in common to be happy about.

Mary Ann

Gloria de, it seems many of us lost our mothers on significant days.  My mother died from injuries from an auto accident and she died on Halloween.

I'm sorry you lost another friend, Callie, but that's what happens when you add years to your life.  None of my close friends are alive now and there are only one other and I who remain of the 14 kids in our old neighborhood.

Mary Ann

Still snowing :tickedoff: This is our new Spring, colder then Feb.

Callie, at my age 94, all my mud pie friends are gone.  When we moved into the park we were the kids on the block, now 35 years later I am the old lady on the block.  By the way, I am sure the show will go on in the city

Lloyd Maybe they think a think a like or they understand each other :)

By the time we got back home ,not much was done other than I finished putting together another quilt. Now on to the next one.

Larry, I order a child's size sundae and the Dixie Bell is chocolate syrup, butterscotch syrup on the ice cream and yummy pecans sprinkled on top. REALLY good!!

Jane, hope you caught your zzz's  :)

Callie, I am sorry you lost another friend. Just think of all the good memories so you won't feel  :'(

Gloria de.......wow you are getting the snow!! I hope we don't get much more here. Our back yard was down to bare ground but since that last storm there is not much bare ground showing.

Lloyd, I am thinking they are both happy that they don't wet their pants!!!

I am frazzled, so won't even try to do a happy dance.Had to have a Notary do some work for us, due to the final sale of my house. Dear Gary did all the thinking, but I had to sign things myself. Horrible signatures !

I may go down for supper, or not, but I am through for the day. Didn't bet my usual nap so I am out of it today.

Keep well and happy dear hearts. God is watching over us. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

i didn't have to catch the zzzs. They caught me. I feel better.

The 80 and three year old are probably both happy to be able to stand upright.

Lindancer you think well sounds good to me, But AMY hit the nail on the head
what I was thinking. the older the less control I have , it gets further from the
shop to the house when the urge comes on for a nature call. I need to finish closing the shop in where I can heat it And build a bathroom in it. Nancy and I went to Sam's club and got a few things today on the way home we stopped at a fine family restraint and had one of there tender loin sandwich  they are so large they stick out of the large bun about 3"'s on all sides. she got a order of finch fries , I got a 1/2 order of onion rings. we got stuffed and got a dogie bag and brought some home. have a great rest of the day and I hope to see you all tomorrow.

Denver

I am sorry to say, I have not read any of your posts today, but I will later.

It was a long day for us.  They did have to go in twice to remove more tissue during the MOHs surgery.  My poor hubby looks like he has gone a few rounds with Joe Lewis today.  He got up with his eye area very swollen from the sew up yesterday.  The length of the closed up area is shocking.....so long!  The surgery today is very large also.....just not what we expected, but it is over and now the healing can begin.  Tonight his eye is very swollen, including below the eye.  The doctor called tonight to check on him and said the swelling will probably last nearly a week....YIKES.

Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers....we so appreciate them.  Right now I could cry for him, but I know it will all heal up and he will be fine.  I just have to be thankful that the cancer was decovered and now has been treated.

I hope you all are doing well and that the storms have not bee; too bad for those of you in the east.

Sleep well and pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone, 31°. Well all the talk about this nor'easter sure made me think I would wake to see a white world out my window again. I only saw a dusting of new snow of the grass and cars. I almost rescheduled my appointment for today, glad I did not. Most of the schools in the state canceled classes for yesterday, another day for the students to make up now. Even the "smart?" governor canceled all government workers. Maybe she works so hard  :idiot2:  she needed a day off?

MARY ANN we didn't have snow but no sun either yesterday.

GLORIA de  when we were young we took the weather as it came and just put up with it. No panicking like these days.

JANE  I thought of you when I heard about the snow in Pa. Did you get home before the worse of it? Hope so.

CALLIE  hope Ellen and friends had a great audience for their show yesterday and someone liked them and wants to book them.

JENNY  prayers for Bob to heal fast and the swelling goes down faster.

I think I slept 2 hours last night, woke at 1am and now my eyes are closing. Think I will lay on the couch. My CNA will wake me if I sleep when the rings from the foyer to come up, will still have time to get ready.
Have a great day.

             Choose Peace Instead

Peace has no boundaries. To be truly at peace with
anything is to be fully at peace with everything.
But how can you be at peace when the world is so
relentlessly demanding and complicated? How can you offer
peace when you get none in return?

Understand that peace is not a transaction. It is a choice.
Peace is the way you can choose to be, whatever the
situation. Peace is a choice that gives you great power
in any situation.

You can be peaceful while still being ambitious and fully
engaged with life and its many complications. You can be
peaceful by following your own authentic purpose and living
true to your highest values.

Peace is yours not to wish for, or to force upon others, or
to negotiate, but to choose. Choose peace inside, and let
the power flow out to your whole world.

Good morning everyone..

No new snow here so that is a bonus  Today is to do all the jobs that should have been done but didn't get done in the past few days.

Jenny, so sorry your hubby is going through this.Prayers for a quick recovery.

Gloria, hope you can find more zzs  2 hours is certainly not enough sleep. Glad you didn't get all that snow!!

Lloyd, take it easy today...

Enjoy your day everyone..!

The sun hasn't risen yet but it is getting light enough to see that the clouds are gone.  When the sun finally decides to get out of bed I will welcome it with a glad heart.  I am definitely going to get out of this house today!

Callie, as far as I am concerned the "recliner radish" position is the ONLY yoga position.  That is the one I do best.

Jenny, your Bob and you are on my mind and I am praying that all of the cancer is gone and now he can just get on with healing.  I had Basel Cell surgery on my upper arm many years ago and it was so deep I had to have a general anesthetic for the surgeon to get it all.  I was left with a very long scar on my arm but have not had any problems with it since.

Gloria de, perhaps a pacemaker would be just what you need to regulate your heart rhythm.  I think your talk with the doctor will help you decide.

Good morning, Amy! So glad that there is no new snow for you to deal with.  But, don't overdo with all of those jobs waiting to be done.

Jane, I hope you had some zzzzs left over from yesterday.  I'm going to go looking for them this afternoon, I think.

I haven't said this for awhile.......MAKE it a good day, Everyone!

Good morning Everyfriend!  The temp here right now is 30º heading for a high in the high 40s.  We did not get as much snow as they were predicting for us and when I came home from work yesterday all that was on the ground on the paved areas was slushy.  It's still laying on the grassy areas but I'm sure the high 40s will take care of that today.  It's truly been a mild winter for us.  We had the extreme cold in Jan and Feb but we escaped most of the snow.

JENNY, prayers continue for your Bob's recovery and for your peace of mind.  That must be very hard to watch someone you love go through what he's going through right now.

We sort of slept in this morning.  Mickey had an urgent call around 4 this morning and went out and took care of business.  Annie chose to stay warm and cosy.  I didn't have a choice.  But we all settled down after that and slept until a little after 7 this morning.  It felt good!

Now we are awaiting the "boing" for the doggies pill and then we'll have breakfast and get our day moving along.  I'm not sure of it's direction yet but there are several things that are demanding attention.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!  Make it your best one ever!

Hi Everyone on a crisp 38 degree South Carolina morning and we are only headed up to around 60 late this afternoon.  My friend, who I usually take to coffee, is not going to go with me this morning.  I do have some business to attend to at the Credit Union and then pick up a prescription at Walmart before I go on down to coffee for a little while.

Yesterday afternoon around 2 pm the new Acer laptop was delivered and I it took at least 3 hours to bring the Windows software up to date.  My major activities before and after I go out is to get the computer fixed up.  I have decided to keep the Acer and give Pat's sister the HP that I got two or three months ago.  Both are nice computer but the Acer has a HD screen and the keyboard has led lights that come on when you start typing.

Scott went to dinner with us but Jennifer didn't so didn't attend.  He then came out to the house and while he he assembled the new Rollator for Pat and we tested putting it into the car.  We decided the best place to carry it is in the truck of the car.

I am going to make limited comments today as want to get busy on the new computer.

Callie, so sorry that you have lost your closest friend.  Close friends don't come along everyday.  That Grandson sounds like a keeper.  Glad he could help you by doing those things in your garden and yard.  Over the years I think the Dairy Queen franchise let many of their facilities run down to the point they had to be closed.  However, they seem to be building new ones which are very modern and nice.

Amy, we often had the Dixie Bell type of sundae using regular ice cream at home.  That is a good combination.

Lloyd, the only place I have ever had those large tenderloin sandwiches was in Missouri and Iowa.  They are tasty.

Jenny, people are going to think you bet your husband up with all the bruising.  Kidding of course.  Glad those procedures are over for him.

phyllis

Larry, we had tenderloin sandwiches in Kansas, too, where I grew up.  I would dearly love to have one now.  They were my favorite.  Here in the northeast, and southeast, too, they never heard of them.  They don't know what they are missing.

BTW, for those who have never had them....these are pork tenderloin sandwiches that we are talking about.  They are definitely not low fat and probably not healthy eating but, oh, my gosh....they are good!!

Good morning.

After almost 2 days of snow, it is a bright, sunny morning.  Still a lot of snow on the ground and trees, but the roads all seem to be clear.  Our area schools are still closed today.  I think they were thinking the morning traffic would be bad.

I am so sorry to read that some of you are experiencing some health issues.  I hope that today, you will all see some improvement and on the way to feeling lots better.

Also, the loss of old friends seem to happen more often now that we are all older.  But,  the memories do help.

Hope everyone will have a great day.  Stay warm if you are in one of the snowy areas.  Sure looking forward to some warmer temperatures in the coming week.

Jenny, a year ago last Christmas, I had the MOHS treatment on a cancer on my face.  The cancer was in a triangle between under my eye and beside my nose, too close to the eye for comfort, but it had to be taken care of.  The surgeon did a great job.  I think he had to go in twice, but maybe that is standard procedure.  Anyway, you would never know I had surgery in that area; he even kept the lines of the bags under my eye!  Best wishes to Bob in his recuperation.

Larry, I bought an Acer computer a few years ago and I don't remember why, but I did not like it.  At one time I was going to have Terry upgrade it and he accidentally wiped out everything.  I much prefer the HP.

It's sunny in Grand Haven, but I don't think I'd want to go swimming yet as the water temp is only 36 degrees.

Jenny, my dear friend. Prayers are with you and your precious Bob. It sounds so trite, but the truth is there, "this too will pass", and you will both be stronger because of it. You are doing so well in spite of the problems, and I am proud of you my girl. Hugs to you both.

We are having sprinkles. Not rain, as there are so dry areas, but at least it is wet stuff doing it's best. Supposed to be clear tomorrow.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Denver

Good morning.

I thank you all for your comforting words....it does help one to feel better just knowing that others do care.  I also appreciate the encouraging words from those of you that have been through this and can relate.  We know this too shall pass, and we are not worried about their being scars, we are just thankful it was found and now he can heal.  His eye is totally swollen shut and even down into his face.  He doesn’t look too good right now, but each day there will be improvement.  It is not an easy spot to put ice on, but we have a couple of rice bags that we are putting on his eye.  I just feel so badly for him.  Those that I have shared the pictures of Bob to have been shocked at how bad he actually looks.

PHYLLIS, I thought a tenderloin sandwich would have been beef, not pork, so thank you for the clarification.  So you cook a tenderloin and just slice it and put it on bread?  I assume you are eating it warm?  What kind of bread?  Anything special?  What condiment do you use?  We always enjoy a pork sandwich from a left over pork roast.  They are so tasty.  When we were at our son and dil’s in Chicago one night they fixed hot beef sandwiches....basically all it was is sliced deli beef and they bought the broth from the deli, we put it on crusty bread and I do swear it was exceptionally good.  I have tried to make it myself and it just isn’t the same!  I asked at a few store counter deli’s and they look at me like I am crazy when I ask for the broth!  I like creamy horseradish on my pork sandwich.

LARRY, glad Scott got the cart put together for Pat. It is a lot easier to put them in the trunk, or back of car than behind my seat.  It fits OK behind the seat, but is is not easy to get it in or out of there.  Bob has to do it for me.  I hope it helps her to be able to get around better...certainly she is going to be safer than she is without it.  I had to chuckle at your comment of people thinking I must have smacked Bob good with the iron skillet....funny enough, through out this time of him being all patched up, etc. not one person even looks at him and no one even makes a comment....they just look past him.

CALLIE and JANE.  I am sorry to read that you both have lost dear friends.  At this age it seems that happens so often.  I guess that is the only advantage of getting way up in years...there is no siblings or friends left to die...that is the position my nearly 94 year old dad is in.

We will just take it easy today and I will do wha5 I can to keep my honey comfortable.

Enjoy your day, EVERYFRIEND.

It's hard to accept losing a parent, sibling or friend but even harder is what I must do this coming Sunday.  My youngest daughter's school and neighborhood best friend passed away in Arkansa where she had gone to care for her mother.  (Her mother passed on about 6 months ago).  There is a memorial service for my daughter's friend this Sunday and I'm going.  I don't know if Christy will be able to come from Maryland but she's going to try.  This gal was 54.....too young and such a sweetheart.  She had worked at WM with me for many years so I had a chance to keep in touch.  She will certainly be missed!

Jane, it will be a sad Sunday for you dear, and I'm sorry to hear about the young woman. 54 years is the prime of life. She will be missed by many, I'm sure.

Our nice soft rain has ceased, but I sure enjoyed having it.The air smelled so clean and fresh. I went down for lunch..very tasty...chill and beans with the tastiest corn muffins....I ate two of them.i will have supper at home as I'm still stuffed from lunch. Took a two hour nap, so I should be putting on some weight.

Had a nice email from a Sunwest Village friend where I used to live. I still miss all the dear friends I made there. It was a ten year stay and I had myself a good time as I was young enough to get involved in everything. Now I am truly retired.

It is very quiet here today. Hope all are healing, and soon be active and happy again. Big hugs all around.

Good morning everyone.
Calling for snow flurries today, I just hope it waits till I get back home.  Have to return the holter monitor and then head into the city to have hubby's hearing aide fixed.  One works fine but the other one decided to quit! I managed to get floors all washed yesterday and the pantry cupboard cleaned and straightened up. The was a procrastinating job, you know one that needs to be done but easily put off. Managed to start another qu8ilt and this one is really a girly quilt to be, nice soft pastels colours .

Jane, I am sorry for your loss, just hold on tight of all the good memories you shared with Dotsie.

June, I love the smell of a nice spring rain, promising new life to come.

Jenny, hope the swelling has gone down some for Bob.That was very invasive surgery he had.

Larry, when I was looking after our friend , he had a regular wheelchair and when the DVA lady was here and saw what I was lifting into the vehicle she ordered a transport wheelchair much easier to lift into the vehicle. Little did we know that I would also use it for hubby.

Joy, my goodness you have had the snow!!! I am to the point where I would rather look out at it than be out in it.

Phyliss all this talk of pork tenderloin sandwiches has made me hungry for one.Pork tenderloin is on sale this week too!! Do you cook then slice it thin on bread along with mustard or pickle?

I had better get a move on here, dogs are fed, fire is on and one load of laundry in the dryer and one in the washer going.

Take care everyone and enjoy your day.

Good morning Everyfriend!  No precipitation of any kind here but it went into the 20s overnight and is now only 31º.  It will remain cold today and then beginning on Saturday, the temps will bet into the high 50s every day.  SPRING IS TRYING TO SPRING!

AMY, I have to work at WM today and I'm tired already just reading what you did yesterday and what you will be doing today!

All this talk of tenderloin sandwiches has made me hungry for tenderloin, too.  I have tenderloin in the freezer and I just might get it out for Sunday dinner and then sandwiches for the coming week.

JENNY, I hope today is Bob's "turning" day and he begins to look and feel better today.  And I hope you are getting enough rest through this ordeal.

EVERYFRIEND, take today and make it your own!  Do what you want with it and be happy in what you do!

Good early morning.  I hate getting up when it is still dark out.  Woke up and sat in the recliner for a while, thinking I might go back to sleep,  but is wasn't to be.  So, I decided to check out which friends were also, up.

Amy, yes, we had a late snow storm and hopefully, that will be the end of the snow for this year.  We didn't have much all winter, but Mother Nature sure di hit us hard on the first day of Spring.  It is supposed to warm up over the week end and through the next week, so it won't lay around too long.

Our Orioles baseball team has their home opening on Thursday.  That is always a sure sign of spring,  and it might get up to almost 60º for the game.  I do remember some years when it did snow on opening day.

Not sure what I will get into today.  The days just seem to fly by lately.  I know that I have some mail to take down to go out  and I am expecting a delivery from the Schwan's Frozen Food.  It was supposed to have been delivered on Wed. but I had an e-mail that, because of the weather, they would not be here until Friday.  I only have some ice cream ordered this week.  So, at  least I will have a nice treat for supper, anyway.

I hope every friend will have a great Friday and a super week end.
