We did get the rain and it feels so cold out now,at times it was wet snow but mostly rain.  Started another camp quilt and hope to finish it so when we go to the city I can return the 3 of them.

Joy, hope you're feeling ok.

Larry, that is what my computer guy put on my computer and he can fix it for me without having to take it to him.I believe it is called Team Viewer. and it is free to use.

June, jeans are what I like too, they can stand a loot of the rough wear I give them and still look good :)

Enjoy your evening..

My last post is out there in cyber space somewhere. I had written to tell you about the very interesting program on Elder Abuse I attended this morning. It tells about how one can get help. It is the National Center on Elder Abuse. Phone # is 1-855-500-3537 if you know of anyone that needs information.They are there to ensure that older Americans live with dignity and honor and are free from abuse,neglect, and exploitation. There is so much of this stuff going on......I thought of our Gloria's landlady witch.

I had a long nap after lunch...brought home half of it, so I will go down and check my mail box, then back to reheat my supper. Hope to be back to say Goodnight.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm having a ba week.  I'm missing all the Holy Week services either because they are in the middle of the day during my work shift or they are at night when I don't drive.  I really like Holy Week services and I'm feeling left out!

I'm up but still feeling sleepy.  I had an appt. with the cardiologist yesterday and that wore me down.  I slept good last night but didn't feel rested when I got up this morning.  I apparently have an elevated blood pressure level and he wants me to take my BP for several days here at home and let him know the readings.  I've NEVER had a BP problem so I'm hoping this is only a temporary thing.

It is supposed to be warm today and I'm hoping they are right.  So tired of cold, dreary weather.  It drags every one's mood down, I think.

Sorry to complain this morning but I am feeling a little down about having to add another health condition to keep track of.  I need to get out today to find something else to think about besides my health.  I feel as though I'm becoming a hypochondriac and I don't want that to happen.  I'm going to try to MAKE this a better day!   :yes:

Good morning everyone, 36°, at least above freezing this morning. Yesterday warmed up nice and really felt like spring.

JUNE  thank you for thinking of us in this building but it is more harassment than abuse that we have here. As long as we stay in our apartments and bow do her every thing is fine. Sorry I do not bow down to any person. Only God deserves that.

Not up to chatting today, feel like I am still sleeping. Have a good day.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
And remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly & clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull & ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud & aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain & bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons
than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing future of
time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.

Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity & disenchantment
it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden
misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue & loneliness.
Beyond wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees & the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors & aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your
soul.
With all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful.

Strive to be happy.

Hi Everyone.  We are to have a nice warm 82 degree day today but remain partly cloudy.  No rain is in the forecast.  We had a great time at the Prime Timer's Senior Luncheon yesterday.  One of the Methodist churches in Augusta has a seniors chorus.  There were about 30 members in attendance.  We were invited to sing along with them as they sang and they are all the old songs we had grown up with.  They do a secular and then a sacred segment.  We then had a delicious potato with ham soup, salad a biscuit and delicious dessert for our lunch.  In a few minutes I will take Pat down to the Church so she can attend the Gifts craft group.  I think this will be the first time this year she has attended.  I will go down and have coffee with the guys at the cafe and then after picking her up we will stop by Walmart to pick up the grocery order she placed yesterday.  Finally on the way home we will stop at a battery store to replace the battery in the new phone she recently got as it is not holding a charge.  Hopefully that will solve the problem and if not the phone will be returned.  We sure don't want to send it back as it is a perfect phone for seniors who don't want to use a smart phone.  I have already prepared our lunch sandwiches as know we both will be tired when we get back home.  I also grated a pound of cheese.  This evening we will be going to Diablo's with Scott, Jennifer, Elizabeth and perhaps one other.  They will then come out for the evening.

Gloria, it is a shame that others don't want to enjoy your nice covered back porch in nice weather.  Gloria, in my book harassment is one form of abuse.

June, you are right about the elder abuse in Gloria's case.  There should be a senior advocate somewhere that could intervene on behalf of the residents. Glad you found the program interesting.  Glad you don't have to deal with that where you live.

Amy, I think the Team Viewer is going to solve a lot of problems and will allow me to maintain my SIL's computer as well as help me teach her how to use it. It has been many years since I have owned a pair of jeans.

Jane, sorry to read that you cannot participate in the Holy Week services at your Church.

Phyllis, I can relate to your getting up in the morning feeling tired.  Sorry to read you now have to deal with a blood pressure problem and hope it is temporary. I see Joy can also relate to waking up tired.

Lloyd, glad to see you finally got a full nights sleep.  I also had a good nights sleep last night.

Lindancer

Phyllis, I also have to take my
BP, and it is crazy. Some times it is low and the next time it is high. I also have to take my pulse 3 times a day, to see if I should take a certain pill.  Such is life

I cannot understand people anymore,  Our Lady of the Island Shrine which is a few miles from us.  The stations of the cross is a walk, with life size statues. It was discovered that the statue of Jesus has been defaced. It is such a beautiful and peaceful
place,no matter what your religion.

It seems like I have had a very busy day, but it was mostly mind busy I guess. Went down for Bible study, led by my son Gary, and enjoyed ! Then on to lunch, home for a read and a nap. Phone rang reminding me I had a doctors appt. downstairs, so down I went. Weight remains the 112, b.p. about the same 157, but a really great visit with my lady doctor. She must have spent close to an hour with me....even did my toe nails. Exchanged some of the meds I take to a longer lasting pill, and answered a bunch of questions I asked. I type up all I want to ask and she really appreciates this. Talks to me about each item, then writes her reply on the paper I have typed, and she loves to do it this way. I do too. I cannot retain our discussion, but the answer she writes down on my question paper I can take home and re-read if necessary. I love this lady.

Larry there are Sr. Advocates available....we just don't know how to contact them. That is what I learned yesterday. NCEA. national center on elder abuse. Quote: Why are we here ? To ensure that that older Americans live with dignity and honor and are free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
We are invited to call for information during normal business hours at 1-855-500-3537 or email an inquiry NCEA@med.usc.edu
So for those of you who are interested in learning I pass this on to you. That's what I learned...use it or forget it, I won't repeat it.

Gloria, Abuse takes many different forms, and I say you folks are being abused by this woman. She takes away your rights by telling you when to heat, when to open windows, enters your apts. without an appointment, and claims you are a smoker when you are not. She is stealing your civil rights as a human being, and to me that is ABUSE.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

well It is time I bid you all sweet dreams and goodnight. first half day was slow and Laze,second half I got my self motivated and got the cows fed and did a couple hours done in the shop,doing a little scrap clean up for sale and some work on the new corral panels.  hope to see you all tomorow.

I drove to central MO yesterday & home today so am weary.... to the bone weary.  I read the posts & started to comment but gave up & will sleep.  Was rain both days & fog this morning, my favorite kind of driving weather.... waited until fog lifted before heading home. Sorry that the dogwood & redbud not blooming but was delighted to see the Bradford & other trees blooming like crazy as I neared Wichita.

Jane, I'm in the same boat... all services are at night & I don't drive at night, either!  I really am disappointed & a little disgusted that WE aren't considered .....

Phyllis, when my doctor was concerned about my BP I started taking a 325 aspirin before going, & it calms me down.   Works for me~~

Sweet dreams to all .... or guess I better say, "good morning", it's 1:15 am & I am off to bed!

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!

It's been a strange week!  I'm not going to bore you with the details but I have a ride to the Great Vigil of Easter Service on Saturday evening and an admonition from my daughter and SIL to call them if I need a ride home.  I probably won't have to call them.

Shirley, I think I have to start complaining a bit more.  There are people in my church who would go out of their way to give me rides if they knew I needed them.  However, I get myself to church every Sunday and I'm still working so they don't even remember that I don't drive at night.  And it's a special season so they have other things on their minds.  It's just not in my nature to complain.  I've always been one of those people who "just get it done" and it's very hard to make myself understand that I can't do it all any more.  Therefore, how can I expect others to buy into that unless I tell them?

OKay, that all the complainng!  We're waiting for the "boinger" for the doggies pills and I have a load of laundry in the dryer and another one in the washer.  I need the towels and bath rugs washed.  Then I'm going to do regular clothes!

I wish you all a lovely day (mine will be rainy) and may God be with you!

Good morning everyone..

Yesterday flew by as most days do on me.  Today is cleaning up in the house then later this afternoon we go pick up hubby's blister packs. Foggy out there now and I hope it soon lifts, don't care for driving in it .

Joy, I think my chiropractor could be a great bread maker with his kneading and thumping... :thumbup: but he does a great needed job on me so I just grin and bear it.

Gloria de, I hope when they catch the culprits that did this they make them clean their nasty work off with a tiny tooth brush. and then they can go pick up garbage too along the road ways .

Jane, I too don't like to ask and would rather do it myself.  I am happy you have your ride to church   and don't have to drive at night. Night driving is  not a favourite of mine either.

Shirley, great to hear from you, glad your home safe and sound. I am finding long drives hard to do anymore , used to think nothing of them but tis different now.

I had better get a move on here.......

Enjoy your day everyone.

Have a great day,

Hi Everyone.  We are off to a sunny morning with partly cloudy forecast later today and a high of 85 degrees.  I am going to go to coffee this morning and take my friend from the assisted living place.  I will bring him home and then hop on the Interstate and go over to Costco to return the Rollator that we had ordered for Pat.  So glad to bought it from Costco because it will be easy return without having to box it up and send it by UPS as it is really too heavy for me to be lifting very much.  I was not successful yesterday in finding a battery for Pat's new phone but last evening I checked the little book that came with it and there was a website and email address.  On the website was the model phone that we got for Pat and a picture of the battery that was available for $8 so I ordered it.  It will come from Hong Kong.  Before I discovered the website I had written an email asking for help with the battery issue.  Within 30 minutes I had a response saying they knew I had ordered the battery and a little bit later got notice it was being shipped with a tracking number.  Hopefully this will solve the problem as Pat loves the phone and we didn't want to take it back.  We went to Diablo's and had a great meal then enjoyed a nice visit with the group here at the house.

deAngel, I have never been able to understand why if one or more people complain about something that there has to be a change.  There is no way that someone is probably going to be offended by something or not like something.  There is no guarantee in our Constitution that prevents provide that right.  Just because I don't like a certain vegetable it sure doesn't mean they should be taken off the market because other people do like them.  Too bad we are having beautiful things, like the statue of Jesus, being defaced and destroyed.

June, so glad you care so much for your doctor and that she writes out the things she tells you in response to your written questions and concerns.  You are providing good information about the Senior Advocates. The county we came from had a nice little booklet that had a lot of information about resources available to seniors.  I haven't check for this county but expect the county website contains a lot of information of this type.  I agree with you about Gloria and the folks living in her apartment building being abused.

Lloyd, I hope your corral panels are coming along well.

Shirley, that is a pretty long trip for only two days.  I see you were writing very early this morning and sure hope you were able to get some restful sleep last night.

Jane, it is hard for people to know of another's needs if it isn't communicated.  I know the satisfaction I get when I can do something for someone else such as take my friend to coffee or remove the breakfast trays from the tables when my friends have finished or get a drink refill.  Many of them are not very mobile and I still get up and down easily and these are things I can do.  I just bet there are many people in your Church who would be happy to give you a ride when you need it just as your daughter and SIL are happy to help you.  I don't see it as complaining when you let it be know of a need you have.  Haven't you done many things for others who had a need over the years?

Amy, we are all reaching the age where we just can't do what we used to do without a thought.  I wouldn't attempt to do a long drive again such as driving back to Missouri.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, 39°, warmest morning we have had so far, might be in the mid 50's later. Maybe spring will finally get here.

JOY  I did just about nothing all day yesterday. Some days that monster arthritis acts up and I sit here watching a CNA doing what i feel is my job and it makes me feel like I am just plain lazy.

LLOYD  I am waiting for the day we get into the upper 60's and no rain. Showers are in today's forecast.

LARRY  for me the back porch is hard. The front doors open with a fob and open, the back one doesn't and it is hard trying to hold it open and get the rollator out and then it is screened in and has a door to get out there so walking around the building and getting in that way is even harder for me.

GLORIA de  that defacing of the statue of Jesus is worse that stealing baby Jesus from the manger at Christmas time. People who do that do not believe in anything. Thanks for the link, beautiful and restful looking place.

Since Linedancer is a Gloria  like me when someone just uses the name I often think it is meant for me but wonder what I had said earlier. Then it hits me it is for Gloria de. The first time it happened I thought I was really losing it.

JUNE  I copied the information you posted. Thanks, will pass it to a few others here.

SHIRLEY  that was a lot of driving for you in one day. Glad you are safely home again.

JANE  like you I hate asking anyone for help. With appointments this town has a car that 3 days a week we can book but you have to gook way ahead of time. In a pinch I will ask my son to take me  and he always does but I do not like to ask him.

AMY  hope the fog lifted before you had to drive in it. When I made bread the kneading was the best part, could take my frustrations out then.

Good morning dear friends. My new prescriptions were delivered today, and two of them were unrecognizeable. So I spent an hour on the computer trying to "do it myself", and was unsuccessful so finally got dressed went down stairs to the clinic, contacted my Pill girl, and she straightened it out for me. So, came home, took my pills and had some breakfast. Then I felt so content I did my ablutions made the bed dressed and went out for a walk. They had music playing with a game, so did a happy dance, then went out and soaked up some sunshine.  My desk is loaded with "things to do" and I hope to get them done today.

Larry, the phone number I gave on Elder abuse is NOT just for Ca. It is a National organization number just in case you, or others here would be interested in more information. Some of our kids may find it helpful also.

We are having another sunny day...high of 76. Soon it will be time to go down for lunch, and I would be willing to be that I will end up napping, instead of cleaning up stuff on my desk. SIGH......so many good intentions that are canceled by napping.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Amy

We ended up with some rain and it helps take away the snow, right now the snow is no longer pristine looking.
I did get my cleaning done and some sewing too!

Gloria, I forgot to tell you, my son saw a Bald Eagle yesterday! He was driving through Wisconsin and said he had seen one. We kept on talking then all of a sudden he is saying ohhhh wow...oh my.....well you can imagine what was going through my head. What was it??? He just saw another Bald Eagle, only closer this time, the eagle had its tail fanned out as it was getting ready to fly off the carcass of a deer.

Better go see what 's for supper..

Denver

Good afternoon...

AMY, how exciting for your son to see the Bald Eagles....I can bet you were waiting with baited breath to find out what he was ohhh wow’ing at!  I do hope the fog lifted before you had to go.  Fog does scare me to drive in.

JUNE, ever so often we order pills and they come and look totally different than they did before.  Sometimes they tell us they are different and sometimes they do not.  We look them up just to be safe.  I do not think they should be allowed to change the color and looks....it is just too confusing.  I appreciate the information that you shared and will refer to it if I know of any case of injustice to an6 senior.  Thank you.

GLORIA de, it make me feel sick after reading about the damage to the statue of Jesus.  I just do not understand how anyone can do this.  Three 15 year old boys broke into a church here and did 80K worth of damage a few days ago.  It was just unbelievable what all they did.  Damaged all the glass ware in the place turned over and beat up a beautiful grand piano as well as other musical instruments....they did identify them and now the public is crying the blues because they are going to charge them for this and make the parents pay for the damages.  What is wrong with the world when they do not think someone should have to accept responsibility for such a terrible crime.  This was not just some kids messing around in the place....they destroyed EVERYTHING in their sight.  Pitiful.

SHIRLEY, happy to read you made the drive to and from MO safe and sound.  That is a long drive for a over night.....could you not stay a bit longer?

LARRY, since the phone was new it is a shame they did not offer to replace the battery for free!  At least $8 is not too expensive.  Glad you enjoyed your evening together last night.

GLORIA, I remember my mama saying how useless she felt when my dad had to do so much around the house when she became unable to do it herself.....so I can understand that you would feel that way too when your CNA is there and you are watching.  I know you do not like to ask for help, but hopefully you know that there are people in your life that will do what ever they can for you if need be.

Bobs wounds are looking so much better and are requiring very little care at this point.  We go Friday to get the sutures out and we look forward to getting this done...

JANE, same thing for you as I stated to Gloria....There are so many people that will step up to help you when there is a need....but I do understand that it is not something you want to have to ask for....but please do, when you have to!

We went to a movie two nights ago.....I hope I did not already tell you all this.  Anyway, it is a preview to a movie coming out called
THE LEISURE SEEKER.  it has been advertised on TV and on the Internet.....  I would suggest you watch it if given a chance as it was a cute, but rather sad at the same time.  It was a bit too close to reality for me...but we did enjoy it.  We are not movie goers’ per se, but have a friend that offers us a free VIP viewing of several a year.  We normally are not interested but this one caught my eye.

I must get a move on.....enjoy the rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND.

Gloria de,I did do what you suggested about lost post but nothing at all happened. I have a Mac computer and they don't always follow the same pattern as a P.C. But thank you for trying to help. I will keep it on hand as the message I tried to recover was a day old. I have copied down control z. Thanks dear.

Lloyd, I don't use a mask to help breathing at night, but twice a day I  spend 15 min. on a breathing machine that is electronic. A Nurse fills it with a medicine called Albuterol, which opens areas in the lungs to aid in breathing. It is used mainly for asthmatics, but others need it too. You certainly do keep yourself busy. How many cattle are you feeding now ?

Jenny, I agree with the pills changing the patterns they use. My  daily 81mg. aspirin was just plain orange. chewable. Now it is a tiny little yellow pill with T81 imprinted on it. couldn't find it on the computer. Wikipedia is great at identifying pills.They even have pictures of some, so you can identify them. Jenny, I console myself for not being able to rely on myself for certain things, so have to pay to have it done, by telling myself I am giving some person a job, and they are happy to have th work. I think I am going to have to turn my laundry over to a worker here, as it really tires me out…..a simple thing like doing laundry, but it leaves my breathless and dizzy. But…..it will keep some one earning a pay check. They charge 55 dollars a month. Everything comes back on a hanger and folded. All I have to do is put my name on the items. I think a felt pen will do the job.

I had a big lunch downstairs today so I think I will fix something light for supper and eat at home. I feel tired at the end of the day. If I don't get back later have a good, blessed night and a happy tomorrow. I will do the same. Hugs,Love and Prayers. June
