Reporting in on my latest catastrophe 😢😢
We rented our car and drove from Springdale to Tulsa on Wednesday the 24th......had a delightful drive on back roads to see the country side......drove downtown Tulsa.....ate a delicious half of a pastrami sandwich....took rental car returned and headed to the terminal behind my walker.  There was a rubber strip across the path and I some how lost control of my walker and fell straight down forward.  I knew immediately I was injured and would not be making my flight.  My iWatch went off alerting medical help....my first ride in a ambulance and my first broken bone.  My shoulder was out of the socket....ER docs tried to put it back four or five times to no avail.....took me for a CT scan and called a orthopedic doc to come.  He finally got it back in the socket on the third try apologizing profusely for all the pain he was putting me through, but the next step was to the OR to surgically reset it.  I have a fracture as well so have a appointment with a orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday.

We got a Uber ride back to the Tulsa Airport  ....spent the night there waiting for a 6 AM flight.  Got home, Son Brian picked us up and got us home.....then he went shopping for us.  I slept in my recliner last night as I can not lay down.  Bob has to do EVERYTHING for me....bathroom runs, etc....bless his heart.

I miss you all and just wanted you to know why I did not post that we were home.

Oh my gosh, JENNY, what a terrible experience!  I sure hope you feel better soon but I know how it is to break a bone in your upper arm!  That's what I did a year ago today!  I'll sure be saying prayers for you!

AMY, my mustard is in jars, too and I had Cranberry Chicken for supper last night and tonight.  There's more to freeze for later meals.  However, I cheated!  The chicken is really pheasant that my SIL shot and gave me along with the venison for Christmas.  It's good this way but it's a bit different than chicken.

We're on our way to the haystack a bit earlier than usual tonight because I'm having trouble with my eyelids.  I open them and they just slam shut!  I can't get the props to work to keep them open.  And once they slam shut, they lock in place.  There must be something wrong with them and I'm going to see if resting them overnight helps.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us every one....especially JENNY, she needs it!

Good morning...

We are to have a nice sunny day, when it wakes up and shines.
Working around home today inside and out.

Jane the chicken was DELICIOUS!! I passed he recipe on also!

Jenny, oh my now that was the trip of all trips and can imagine you are really sore with the bruising coming out now.  Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Callie, enjoy your trip away. Looking forward to hearing all about it. Have fun!

Lloyd, I bet your peanut butter tasted really good!!

Wish we would hear from Gloria..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I sat down here a good hour ago to say "good morning" and I started cleaning out my email boxes and that was it!  I never got past the email.  And the worst of it is, I'm not finished cleaning out the boxes!

Cooper arrived here at 5:30 a.m. to spend the day and we were already up and attem.  I sure hope Mickie adapts to DST soon.  We can't seem to stay abed past 5 a.m. any more and that's way to early to start the day!

I've managed to work around doing an inventory of the kitchen freezer and I'm really tired of rooting around in there.  So today is the day for the inventory.  And if the rest of the day goes the way it began, I might still be rooting around in there tomorrow.  Pray for me!

Now I'm waiting for Cathy to come back from the grocery store.  She gave me the option of taking that job back since I'm vaccinated but I'm going to let her do it for a while yet.  It gives me a "for sure" visit every week and she doesn't really mind.  She goes anyway.  And it saves me a little bit of energy.

My eyes seem be under control this morning.  They're not snapping shut uncontrollably.  We'll see how that goes!  I might need to give them a short "shutdown" this afternoon to get back in shape for the evening!

JENNY, I hope you're feeling a tad better every hour but as AMY said, I bet you have bruises in places you didn't even know you had places.  At least they'll heal with time!

I'm off to get started....I hope!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Jenny, I am so sorry about your terrible accident.  But, I'm glad that you were not traveling alone...that Bob was with you.  And that you were in a city the size of Tulsa where you could get immediate good help.  Still, what a terrible experience.  I hope you are feeling a little better now that you are back in familiar surroundings.  Thinking and praying for your quick recovery.

Lloyd, you said your homemade peanut butter was thin.  You have to keep it in the refrigerator since it doesn't have any artificial thickeners in it like the store bought kind does.  Keeping it in the fridge also keeps it from getting rancid.  I've made my own peanut butter for over 30 years.....my husband wouldn't eat the store bought kind anymore.

Jenny, I was so sorry to hear of your fall and shoulder injury! I'm glad you weren't alone and were able to receive prompt medical attention! Please be careful and rest.

Shirley

Oh, WOW, Jenny, that was some TRIP! (pun intended). So sorry for your pain & the torture that is probably on going for some time. (Both you & Bob). Got to have been twice as scary not having your trusted doctors available. Was thinking about your walker, hope you get or have one you can sit comfortably in that Bob can push you, don't think you'll be able to manage leaning on that shoulder for some time. Really sounds painful to me. I do remember how long it took Jane's to get under control.. so big, gentle hugs & more prayers.

Now, girls, remember, when you start to go down you must "tuck & roll", did your gym teachers not teach you anything?  ;)  My friend (my age) here says the biggest problem is getting back up if nothing to hang on to. We do face challenges as we grow up, right?  Take care!

Was one of those nights of half awake dreaming & thinking. First hitch I got less than 6 hours so after eating & feeding cats, back to bed for another 2 hours & 45 min. so should be bright eyed & bushy tailed but look like something the cats dragged in.  :crazy2:

Wishing all a pleasant Palm Sunday week end, no more boo-boos for anyone! I've got to get me in gear to clean & do all the things Jane & Amy talk about getting done 'cause my daughter will be back late Easter Day for my eye surgery the next day. Have SO much to do & the body/brain is not willing. I've always responded better to bribes... but this time I can't think of a thing to get me started.

Oh, Jane, when we lived in Western Kansas we had plenty of pheasants for hunting, everyone came to visit us during hunting season. I sure hated to pick the lead (I don't know if it was really lead) out of the carcass so was happy to switch to chicken breasts, but did come up with a recipe for "pheasant under glass" that everyone loves & still uses for chicken. Let me know if you are interested & have the old round Pyrex baking dishes, a must for best flavor. My daughter ended up with all of mine so my excuse for not fixing anymore. May do it one of these days, in a Corel oval, it doesn't come out quite the same.

Noon & nary a thing done but check in here. I have a mess to clean up before anything else. Callie must have eaten too fast & coughed it up... yuck... on the floor by the couch, hardest place to get to she could find. Poor baby, she went out & probably sleeping in the flowers across the street so she can watch my/her house. It is windy again & she found a sheltered place to sleep & keep track of what goes on here. Tom & Tiger are sleeping in different rooms at the other end of the house. Tiger likes being alone.

Gloria, where are you?

Carol

Jenny:  So sorry about your fall.  It sounds so painful.  Thank goodness for your prompt help and being near help.

I hope to remember to go out at 8 PM with my candle - for the 10 people murdered at King Soopers store.  Mend quickly dear girl!

Amy

Day has running shoes on for it is disappearing fast on me!!
Jane, you supplied supper tonight along with Apple Streusel Bread Pudding for dessert. We did work for a lady and she gave me the recipe years ago...I don't buy canned apple pie filling but had apples to cut up and must say it was tasty. Will put some in the hidey hole and it sure made a lot for just these two ol folks.

Shirley, I tried to get some photos of Tom T but being a cloudy (dull) day it didn't show off his feathers, will try again.

Thank you all for your wonderful supportive words.....I am feeling a lot better today......I got off those horrible pain pills.....just taking Aleve and it is helping to take the edge off of the pain with out the awful feelings the pain pills leave you with.

My brother came by to visit for 3 1/2 hours and I am tuckered out.

I thought of you JANE and the shoulder injury you had, so have a good idea of what I am in for down the road.  I do have a appointment with a trusted Dr. Jason Dragoo this coming Wednesday afternoon.  I just hope and pray he will tell me the fracture is lined up correctly so that it might be able to heal on its own...🙏🙏🙏. Dr. Dragoo is the head of the University of Colorado Steadman Hawkins right here near our home.  I have known Jason for years as he and Dr. Dave went to medical school together.  He will take good care of me and make sure it is in my best interest.  Feeling blessed.

I love you all my sweet friends......feeling your love and support 🥰🥰.

Now the day is over.... And it was a busy one!  It started early as I said before.  Cooper showed at 5:30 a.m. and that was the beginning of our day.  As soon as it was light, we went for the first walk of the day.  We had 4 altogether...3 full circles and one up to the corner and back.

I did NOT get the freezer inventoried but I am determined to get that done tomorrow BEFORE I put the four containers of pheasant in there.  And yes, SHIRLEY, I do have the old fashioned round pyrex oven dishes in three sizes with lids.  I'd love that recipe.  You could email it to me when you have time because I suspect I'll be getting more pheasant this year.  I always let my SIL  know when I'm having the wild game he supplies to me and it always brings on more.  I think it makes him happy to have found someone who likes it as much as he does.  And he has a friend who likes to hunt with him but whose family doesn't like to eat the wild game so he gets double.  It saves me money and I like it!

JENNY, I'm glad you have someone special to take care of you and I know that the time will come sooner than you think that he will be prescribing exercises to get your shoulder back in working order.  They will be simple and gentle at first and work their way up.  DO THEM!  I'm here to say, THEY DO HELP even if they hurt a bit.  My dr. made the mistake of saying that I would probably never get my arm straight up beside my head and be able to move it back and forth.  My Dad would have said, "Never tell Jane she can't do something".  I can do that and I do it constantly every day and it only took me about 4 months of exercise.  The Dr. was amazed!  You can do it, too!  I know you can and you will!

Also, look for Comfrey.  It's a natural healing cream and will help speed the healing process.  Since it's natural, it won't interfere with anything else you are using and it WILL help.  Also, Arnica gel comes in a tube and eases pain.  I have to admit that I still have some pain when I overuse that arm but the Arnica is a saver.  It works!  If you want me to email this stuff to you later, let me know.  I'll be glad to do that.  But you can start using them any time.  I never had a cast because they said casts don't work that far up on the arm so I could use them right off.

AMY, email me the recipe for that apple dessert that you made.  It sounds good!

Now I'm off to the haystack to search for some zzzzzs.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow! And may God bless us, every one!

P.S.  Today got up into the 7os and was gorgeous.  I had all the windows open.  Tomorrow it's supposed to rain again.  SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

Still dark but normal Sunday morn routine, 2 cats fed & one to go. Tiger sleeps in the other end of the house & expects her breakfast to be delivered before I dress for church. She'd rather stay inside.

Have a new problem with a running faucet in the bathtub, not a drip but steady run. I really do need to find a plumber but know Andy will find time to fix before any plumber would show up. I do wish someone would show me how to put in a gasket... I'm sure I have all the tools to do the job. Amy, do you do that yourself?  I do know how to turn off the water to the whole house.  ;)

Enjoy this day, every Friend, maybe soon Covid will be a fear of the past and let's hope not all the side effects like polio. How little we knew and still don't know. God Bless. Shirley

Good morning...

A wet day here, rain has stopped for the time being. A day of rest here.. My goodness the crows were hollering this morning, they are now fed and quiet.

Will just take the day as it comes..

Jane, email sent..I am procrastinating on the freezer job here but know it needs ,begs to be done!

Shirley , Kyle would do that job. The only plumbing job I have done is install the taller throne when he was hit with RA. He was going to call the thee plumber but I said no.I was able and he could walk me through it so he did..and no leaks!!

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

We were up and attem in time to have our good walk all the way around the circle before the rain started.  Right now it's 54º heading for a high of 63.  That's not too bad but the rain makes it feel cooler.  And it's supposed to rain all day!

AMY, got the recipe.  I'm going to try it but like you suggest, I'll cut it in half!  It sounds good!

SHIRLEY, I assisted my Dad with household repairs as I was growing up and I knew how to do a lot of stuff.  But when I got married, we had a guy working at the store who could fix anything.  His job was to install washers and dryers or fix them as needed but he was good at most anything.  His name was Al and whenever I told my husband something around the house needed fixing I used to kid him that his answer was always "Don't worry! 'Al" do it!"  And he sent AL to do it!  I held stuff for him like I did for my dad but I didn't learn much from him.

Now, I'm announcing....I'M HEADING FOR THE KITCHEN TO INVENTORY THE FREEZER ON THE FRIDGE! And come H**l or high water, it's getting done today!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

What a day yesterday!  Storms, tornado warnings, hail, high winds all around us.  We had a lot of lightning and thunder and heavy rain but no wind or hail here at my house.  Loud thunder, lightning, and a brief flurry of small hail got me up at 5:30 this morning but the sun is shining right now.  More heavy storms expected this afternoon from the same storms that hit Tennessee yesterday.  This is not turning out to be an enjoyable Spring for people in the South!

I put a beef stew together in the crock pot yesterday afternoon and it will cook most of the day today for our dinner this evening, if the power doesn't go off.  I love a one-dish dinner.  I "may" make a blueberry tart to go with it.  Then again, I "may not".

Hope Jenny is doing better.  Wish we could hear from Gloria.

Take care,  All.

Good Morning everyone, well sun is shinning very bright here. Is 37º and sunny going for 58º they say. I went to VA last evening and seen the sawbones. they drew blood and put medicine in the same pluming they drew the blood out of. It made my headache better but did not make it go totally away.I got to bed at 12 and just woke up about 5 min. ago. I have a stuffy runny nose but not as bad as was yesterday.  they gave me a sack full of meds and a full page of instructions. I will have to go read them and see what they say, Nancy got up and went to church leaving me in bed asleep and a note saying where she was. Have a great day see you all later.

Good Morning,

Oh my goodness, Jenny - what an ending to your long trip!  I am so sorry about your fall and injuries and wish you the very best with your recovery.

My "adventure day" was fantastic!  My grandson (Sir Carson) has become very interested in the family history in my hometown.  He, his dad,  his uncle (#2 son) and I went so I could show him/them various family homes, locations of schools I attended and my memories of downtown.
I had found pictures from long ago and made arrangements with the couple who currently own and are restoring the building where my Dad's office was, to go upstairs and see its location.

The couple met us for lunch in the restaurant currently on the ground floor of that building and there was instant rapport between them and "my boys".  That turned into a tour of other buildings they're restoring and being able to go into the house my grandparents ordered from a catalog (not Sears), which they also own and have leased out.

The house I grew up in is for sale and #1 son (Carson's Dad) contacted the realtor and made arrangements for us to go through it, too.

(Why is it that everything looks so much smaller than it did when you were young?!?   ;D )

We also spent a bit of time out on the rural property we still own where sons/grandson go hunting and have camping trailers.

I managed to climb the steep stairs to the location of my dad's office and do all the walking except the tour of downtown buildings.  Had a pleasant visit with an old friend who happened to come along as I was waiting in the car for them.

I had spent Friday night at son's home and was glad when he offered to bring me home when we came back (it's a 2 1/2 hour drive) because I do sleep better in my own bed and knew I'd need to have a "leisurely" day today.  I slept hard for 9 hours last night and am a bit stiff and sore- but thrilled that I was able to do this project that had been on my bucket list for quite a while.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable and Blessed Palm Sunday.

Amy

Callie, what  delightful time you had!!Bet your heart smiled many times reminiscing in your journey.

Still raining here, let the neighbours dog out this morning and will go again in an hour or so to let him out. We did take our garbage away and no sign of the eagles. I think they are on nests now.

Lloyd, hope you're feeling better now..

GOOD PALM SUNDAY and HAPPY PASSOVER💐. I can not believe it is Easter time again.  Remember last year when the powers that be thought we would be going to church n Easter Sunday?  A year later and we barely can do that now.  COVID😩😢😭

JANE, I have copied your suggestion and I will do anything you suggest because YOU KNOW and have been through this😘. Thank you. Good for YOU...getting the freezer inventoried.... I need to do that too......but guess not in the immediate future.

AMY....not sure you mentioned trugs going to new homes here or in Norm's but I always smile and say "lucky people "!

I am sad to see that GLORIA is not posting.....bless her heart!

I had a shower today and it was frightening.....I am SO AFRAID of falling.  I have  to use my good hand to support my bad hand and arm and it was scary.  The things we just take for granted!  Bless my sweet husband... I am wearing him ragged taking care of me.  I had a hard time getting comfortable last night....tried the bed....IMPOSSIBLE tried another hair for 5 minutes then back to the recliner....Bob putting a pillow here and there and I finally got settled in.

CALLIE, we absolutely fell in love with Springdale area and know that our family will like this new location.  The club members have just opened their arms up to our kids and have treated them like family right from the start.  We all feel this is going to be a great fit for them.  Loved hearing about the family outing....how exciting and fun for you all.  I agree, our big homes and buildings are much smaller now when we see them😘. We did not get to Bentonville but head it is a great place to be.

PHYLLIS, I am sad for all of you folks that have been dealing with these awful spring storms.  Our Boston Family is getting it now.  No word about any of our family in the Birmingham area and if they got damage from the tornados😩😩

SHIRLEY....always something that needs repaired.....hope Andy can help you soon.

Take care....enjoy the rest of your day.

This day was another busy one and now it's over!  I'm ready for the haystack.  My eyes are having the "want to stay closed" problems again.

JENNY, I sent you an email.  Check it out and make a phone call.

Phyllis, I'm in favor of "one pot meals" too.  I'm getting so dirty dishes have reached the top of my "dislike" list.

I typed up my Freezer inventory list and it's magnetized to the side of my fridge.  There are three dishes of "IDKW" in there that I'll have to deal with soon.  One looks like it might be spaghetti sauce and one looks like chicken broth but I have no idea what the the other one is!

Mickie is getting antsy and that usually means she's ready for a outie.  So I'll go take her out and then head for the haystack.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

The wind must be young, as it was out howling all night and still is. Our power did flicker but didn't go off.......so far.
We are off for an appointment this morning then home to continue the day doing ????

Jane, way to go!! Now if I  could get my freezer done! I bet I have some mystery meals in there also.

Jenny, we had a bath chair to put in the shower and we put an adjustable shower head that one could hold and move about for our friend.

Gloria, hope you are feeling better..

Better shake a leg and get moving here.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

we had a BAD night!  Mickie must have picked up something to eat outside that really upset her stomach.  We went to bed about 11 and at 1:25 she wanted down.  I tried to talk her out of it but it didn't work and before we got to the door, she barfed on the floor.  After that, it was every 20 minutes to a half hour until around 4 a.m.  Since 4 a.m until just now....twice more.  And she can't keep anything down.  When the vet is open at 8, I'm calling them.

I'm beat right down to my socks!

Yesterday's severe thunderstorms consisted of one really loud one that got me out of bed at 5:30!  Other than that we just had rolling clouds and an occasional sprinkle.  I was so glad that the weather people were wrong in their predictions for our area.

A gorgeous, bright moon was shining during the night and a bright sun is in the sky this morning.  So nice and makes the spirits feel lifted.

I've got some "mystery meals" in the freezer, too, but at least I had room enough to put the Easter ham in there.  I'll sort the mysteries later.....maybe.

Laundry day.  Take care, All.

JaneS sorry you and puppie had a bad night.I had the best short night I have had in a long time. went to bed at about 12 and went to sleep soon after and up about 30 Min ago and filled the garden tub turned the jets on and wallard around so the jets hit me all around. really felt goooood. sun is bright here 45º and going to the upper 70º's the other day when I went to VA they poked me all over both arms trying to get in a vain's and I have black and blue spots over both arms. not sure it is worth it to try to stay healthy. Have a good day and a better tomorrow.

I didn't take notes so will hit the things I remember for now.... Jenny, Cas bought a chair for the bath/shower & also put in a "hand held" shower head (it also had the clamp to stay in place), but the chair he bought was a mistake... he thought the largest seat with a back would suit him but it was TOO big and the back prevented him from turning around on the seat to exit either end of the tub. He sawed the metal poles off that held the back (quite a chore) but was never happy with the extra large seat/base, even tho that bath tub was extra large. Just a warning. Right now that seat holds a large potted plant with a cat bed underneath. Tiger likes the sunny spot. Know this is all such a trial as it was with the "pink bunny, Jane"... But aren't you glad we're all so understanding ? <grin>

Callie, I can't think of a better outing than what you had!  Do hope someone was taping or doing video of your time. I have a audio & video tape of my father telling about the house his parents had built when Dad was a very young teen. Not sure there is any equipment it will play on now. At least I do have a memory of his description & the house still stands so 2 of my 3 kids have seen it. The youngest was at the house when it was being sold after Grandma died, but he doesn't remember much about it. He has hopes of visiting this summer but the owner is not likely to invite us in. :(

Got a busy day ahead, time to renew my conceal carry permit & takes a passport type photo plus other details that call for chasing around to do, unlike before Covid restrictions. Since I do carry when traveling, for noise as well as for protection (as I explained one time, because I can't run as fast as before if someone wants to grab my camera equipment  ;) )... At any rate, everything takes a little longer to do the older I get & need this done before the next eye surgery. Does anyone else have the feeling of being pushed with summer coming so fast we skipped spring? Was super cold recently, coat weather, after a few warm days & today is to be near 80. That's HOT in my book. We also have a wind/fire warning. Whine, whine, whine....

Thank you, JANE for your email regarding a shower seat and everyone else who suggested what item would help making a shower safer.  I guess it is trial and error regarding the safest style of seat.  We have a hand held sprayer however the hose is not that long.  I remember we bought a extra long hose for my dad when Bob was showering him at some point in the past.  The one thing we need is safety bars.....we have wanted to get them but hoped to remodel our shower and have them installed then.  Problem is....with only the use of one hand now....and the need to use it to hold my arm/shoulder in place.....how could I hold a safety bar🤪🤪

It will be 70 degrees today with a snow storm to follow tonight into tomorrow......crazy spring weather ☔️  I just want it to clear up and not be slippery when I have to go out Wednesday.

SHIRLEY, you have a lot to accomplish before your next eye surgery.  Isn't it GREAT that you can get out and about to get these tasks done? Good luck!

JANE, last nights dinner consisted of a frozen slice of meatloaf I did a month or so ago...cut into a nice slices that allowed Bob to fix easily.  He just happened to see them in my freezer that is in dire need of organizing!  I wish I had more prepared ones available, but we have been using them up!

Due to Covid, Bob and I have done so much more cooking together from scratch than ever before.  Because of this, he can and will jump in and try his best to make us healthy meals.  His specialty is fresh chicken with a little olive oil and some spices cooked in the air fryer!  Yummy.

Enough for now...have a good day, EVERYFRIEND💐
