Gloria, I'm glad your meeting went well, but it sounds like "hurry up and wait" now.

Mary Ann

Carol

I cannot remember if I wrote this before --- I had a call just a few minutes before closing time. Hurrah - my doctor is keeping me!  All because Don told me to explain the situation and to ask to have a call from my doc.  All the while - staying calm.  So very thankful as it would have meant a mess for me medication wise and so forth.

Jenny:  It is unbelievable how early the baby is detected.  How cute - arms raised like a peacemaker is coming.

June:  You deserve the tender loving care.

Lloyd:  eeek a mouse!

Amy:  Did you get the Singer?  I have a 1948 Featherweight and really do like to set it up - like the clickity clack sound.  A wonderful straight stitch too. It is always a privilege to spot a moose and we are so grateful to be able to visit Rocky Mountain National Park - tons of elk and occasionally a moose.  Now is the time to spot a calf - I sure miss having our place up there but the altitude was over 8,000 ft. and hard for Don.  We are talking about trying to visit their cabin - it sure would be a pleasure to walk in the woods again.

Larry:  Is Pat using the Instant Pot more often?  I can't decide - I would have to put away things - I do have two sizes of crock pots and use them often.

Gloria:  We will all be anxious for your six-month wait to be over.  WOW, that is just great someone spent that time with you -- without the tyrant.

Amy

THANK YOU JANIEEE we did get the beautiful rain!! Nice gentle rain to wet the grass seed for me. Now, laundry won't be hung outside but that is ok.

Larry and Carol, no I didn't get the Singer it was a 1892 fiddle base treadle with the coffin box. I do have my featherweight but thought if I could get a treadle I could sew should the power go off. We do have a generator but with all the surges I won't use an electric machine.

Gloria, I hope and pray that this lady heard and felt all the wrong doing of the witch. They do have to stop and think that word gets around of that place not being nice and no one will want to live there.

Back to laundry..

I did go to the Amish store...by myself.  Cathy got wrapped up in Royal Wedding todo and decided she didn't have to go.  I did.  I spent my birthday gift certificate and a little more besides.  Then I stopped by the local market to take advantage of their BOGO sale and got a few more things so I shouldn't have to go again for a while.  They make the best hoagies and if you order when you get there it's ready and waiting when you're ready to check out and the price is right, too.  So that's what I had for my lunch.

CAROL, good for you standing up for your insurance.  We all deserve whatever we can get.

AMY, you're welcome for the rain.  It stopped here before the mud puddles had a chance to form.

Now I'm going to go close my eyes.  The rain brought back the cold and snuggling under a blanket sounds like a good idea to me.

Grab the day!  It's yours!

We just got back from picking up our neighbours. Their vehicle broke down and had to be towed to the dealership.

Jane is a hoagie the same as what we call a submarine  sandwich?

Still lovely rain here, love the sound and smell of it :)

Yep, AMY, a hoagie and a sub are the same type of sandwich but no two places make them the same.  The Amish store makes their own rolls to begin with!

I took a LOOOOOOng snooze after I got all the stuff put away.  I forgot to say that I started this day by switching closets.  Now all the winter stuff is in the other closet and I have a bag of stuff for GoodWill and another one that needs to take a trip to the dump or the rag bag or something.

The doggies have been fed and I'm going to snack my way through the evening.  I'm still feeling stuffed with hoagie and I have a nice bowl of grapes and a glass of cranberry juice to keep me happy.  Enjoy your evening Everyfriend!

Gloria, I am thrilled to pieces over the meeting you had yesterday, and I applaud the former tenant that came and as able to tell her side of things. I'm disappointed that the owner was not there. He should have been if he is a good and conscientious owner. Maybe he is one like our former place I lived…Brookdale…a Huge enterprise, and what do they care about us little people. Even though it is we little people that keep them in business. I am so extra happy that my place is non-profit. All the rents are turned into keeping our place in business. But our place is run by people that are truly God's people.

Carol dear, we ALL deserve tender loving care. I am so thankful that I am a part of this group of loving people here. We have never met personally, but I think each and every one of us would welcome our caring friendship, and if at all possible, to help one another through grief and knowledge of what they can use to enhance our lives.

Janie Love, I will happily accept any excess rain that God has placed in your part of our beloved country.. we have so much great weather in this area of the U.S. it is understandable why it is so crowded…with humanity. I am thankful to be one of those people.

Amy, you are truly blessed to live in an area where neighbors really care for one another. It is a rare occurrence on the West Coast to have truly Caring neighbors. I feel most people the live next door don't trust one another. That is why I thank God and my son Gary for placing me here at Quaker Gardens.

I have not felt well today……not sick….just "not with  it".Have  not left the Apt. at all. I am going to zap a piece of fried chicken for supper, and if I can energize the body to go down stairs, I'll  check my mail….if not…..it can wait for tomorrow.

I love you my buddies…..keep well and happy….God is watching over each of us.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

So disappointed......had my post all but ready, but my iPad was nearly out of battery and dinner was ready......when I cam back to post, my post was no longer here....just the posting screen!   Not sure when I am going to learn.

Spent a lot of the day watching the wedding.  Then the Preakness.  It has been rainy out all day so we were just pretty laid back.

LARRY, I think I am lucky this time as my cold seems to be improving much quicker than it did the last time I had it in March!  I have to tell you with out a doubt the hugs from the grandchildren are indeed very special.  I, too, remember well my hugs with my grandparents.

GLORIA, happy the meeting is over....very unfortunate that the owners were not represented.  I do not have a lot of hope that you are going to see much changes, but I hope that you do.

CAROL, I am so happy that you are going to be able to continue with Dr. B.  I so wish that I, too could get her to accept me as a patient as I really did like her a lot.

JANE, glad you decided to go,shop at the Amish store by yourself.  I hope you enjoyed your sandwich.

AMY, happy you were able to pick up your neighbors after their car broke down.  I know you must have been disappointed that you did not get the Singer sewing machine.

I am headed off to bed......the da6 started very early watching the Royal Wedding.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone...

Went to sleep with the sound of rain on the roof and loons calling across the lake.Just beautiful! Rain kept up most of the night , in the early evening 9:30 ish there were some firecrackers go off but not a lot to scare the dogs.

A day of rest here today.

June, we a re truly blessed with good neighbours. We look after their dog and cat and they look after our girls for us. If either one of us needs any help we are there for each other.

Jenny , glad your cold is on the way out. Spring/summer colds are difficult to get rid of.

Jane, you must have needed that loooooooong nap!! We often will stop and get a 12 inch sub and share it.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi Everyone. We had another nice rain last night and will only get into the low 80's today.  I did accomplish what I set out to do yesterday, i.e., getting strawberries, stopping at Lowe's and then at Aldi's.  By that time I knew I was tired to try to get to the meeting.  I got a couple of ears of fresh sweet corn at the fruit stand so we had that with a big bowl of the potato soup that Pat had made a couple of days ago and it made a great supper along with an ice cream bar each that I had purchased at Aldi's.

Today I will just be going to Sunday School and Church and then will pick up Jennifer and bring her to the house to let me off and she will take the PT Cruiser back so Scott can use it to get to work.  I will probably pick up a Firehouse Sub for our meal of the day. That will be it for today other than to watch the last of the golf tournament today.

Gloria, I am glad to see your meeting with the building owner's representative went OK.  I am sure the folks felt more free to speak without the witch or her lacky being present.  It sounds like the lady was given an earful and sure hope you all see some good results and surely you won't have to wait six months before they try to do something to address the complaints.  I sure wish some of my clothes were baggy but they seem to be shrinking.  I wonder why that is!!

Carol, Don gave you good advice about explaining the insurance situation and staying calm as that usually works the best.  Pat keeps her Singer set up and ready to go at all times in our little sun room area.  Unfortunately, she doesn't very often feel up to doing much there on her downstairs project.  She also has an upstairs project putting together blocks for a quilt and has done some work on them recently.  Yes, Pat is using the Instant Pot more often and even used it to fix the sweet corn last evening and it was perfect.

Amy, do you do all of the machine quilting with your Singer since you said you won't use an electric machine?  Pat has had three Bernina's but has given two of them away, the most recent to our Granddaughter, who I don't think has probably ever tried to use it.  Nice you were available to help your neighbor when their car broke down.  I have had to call on my neighbor a time or two when our car wouldn't start. Your neighbors sound like the ones my folks had when we lived on the farm as they all helped each other when needed.

Jane, glad you made it to the Amish store.  It sounds like you had a nice day even if you had to shop by yourself yesterday.  Those Amish hoagies must be great with the homemade rolls.

June, I should think that owners of the retirement facilities would care a lot about the little people as they need to keep their units rented.  We got an invite yesterday to visit a new retirement community that recently opened here in our little town.  We are thinking about accepting the invite as need to begin to see what is available.  You are fortunate to have a caring company for your retirement community.  I hope you are feeling more "with it" today than you did yesterday.

Jenny, just a suggestion when you need a leave an unfinished posting that you are doing on the iPad.  You can copy and paste it into an email and send it to yourself.  If something happens to the posting you can just open the email and copy and then paste it back into the posting box here.  Glad to read your cold is improving.

FROM DON
This is my last day in Israel. We are going out for one last excursion to a celebration of Sukhot marking the harvesting of the new crops.  Then home for an early bed and early rise for a 7 am arrival at the airport. Hopefully I'll have some photos for the photo forum when I get back to Canada.

Good morning everyone 62° already. Yesterday that was the high. Rained all day, hope today is better. The walks and pavement in the parking lot are drying and forecast is for warm and muggy. Humidity is already 77%. Gee maybe I should move to Arizona? Nah I am a Yankee and as much as we complain about the humidity I cannot picture myself living any other place especially at my age.

MARY ANN  maybe they will talk to the witch and she will change her mean streak?  The ones with the most complaint she took their names and phone numbers.

CAROL  when we find a good doctor who takes time to listen and really helps and the move or retire and we have to find a new one. I have seen a couple of Moose in northern Maine. Even from a distance they are huge. We all are praying that something happens here.

AMY  my Mother had an old White sewing machine that I got when she died. I loved it and made a lot of clothes with it. Well that ex husband of mine gave it away saying I never used it. I was never comfortable with an electric one, too fast.

JANE  good thing I cannot get into a market. I would buy too much and there is not much space to store things in here. The rain here yesterday was light with a break at times.

JUNE  the former tenant comes here at times to visit with friends here. The witch told the maintenance man to have her car towed because she did not want her  here. He told her she couldn't have it towed because she was a visitor and her car was parked in the visitor area. She wants him and the resident helper to do her dirty work.

JENNY  I watched after the wedding and they left in the carriage to the castle. We have had a lot of rain here this month, wish it would fall where it is really needed. We are praying the meeting brings changes but I doubt it.

AMY  where my daughter lives now all the neighbors help each other. They help and use the barter system of years ago and no money is used.

LARRY  more than half the tenants here aired their complaints. That alone should tell them something is wrong here. Wish I could gain at least 20 pounds, I am just a bag of bones now.

LLOYD  I read this yesterday about a way to keep mice out.
Mice Deterrent
Sprinkle borax on the floor and along the walls - mice like to run along the side of the walls, but they don't like the borax on their feet.  This way they are less likely to return to that area of the house.
Don't know if it works but worth a try.

BUBBLE  will be lonesome for both of you when Don leaves.

True Freedom
Author Unknown

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk being called sentimental.
To reach out to another is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk showing your true self.
To place your ideas and your dreams before a
crowd is to risk being called naive.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair, and to try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken, because the greatest risk in
life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing, does nothing,
has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply
cannot learn and feel and change and grow and
love and live.
Chained by things that are certain, he is a slave.
He has forfeited his freedom.
Only the person who risks is truly free.

DON, have a safe trip home.

I've been to church, stayed for coffee hour and then stopped by the Sunday Farmers Market.  I got onions, radishes and peppers.  All the rest is shipped in so far and it's the same as we have in the supermarkets.  I don't mind when it's coming from Virginia or even North Carolina but it's still from Florida and California.

Except for changing the bed, I've got no plans except to cook a meal with planned overs for the freezer.  I think I have some Tilapia filets in the freezer and I think that's what I'll cook.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!

I have a look in off & on all day, Janie, but have been totally overwhelmed with getting this pool taken care of.  'Tis plastered, new tile & filled with water but pool guy to return tomorrow to adjust chemicals HIS way as well as clean up the grass carpet around the pool, it is a mess in spite of all efforts to keep plaster & sand off.  On top of the pool, I got my results back from 23 & Me so trying to understand what everything means.  Of all the tests they run through, only markers I have is for "age related macular degeneration".... at 83 & a clean check in Jan of this year, I'm not too concerned about that.  Obviously they don't test for heart problems & maybe "scatter-brained" old lady symptoms.  The weeds are taking over, had to weed whip my path to the fish but still need to take bigger muscle to cut the scrub elm & mulberry trees out of the berm.  My son was over the day after lawn guys mowed & trimmed and he was convinced they did not mow.... I'm sure they mow high not to cut off sprinkler heads, but it really did not look neat. It is a busy time of year with all the graduations & spring cleaning, etc.  Always love seeing what you are up to.

Saw a clip of water spout over Dauphin Island while ago, think that's where Joan's son & family have a place, right?  So many gone but not forgotten..........  Hi, Mary Ann.... and Norm is another that will not ever be forgotten.....

Good night to all, and God Bless.

JaneS

Well, thank goodness they didn't close up the Soda Shoppe and send everyone home.  I was beginning to wonder.

SHIRLEY, my mower cut high this time too.  I think it was because the grass was so high because of all the RAIN!  And I can't really complain because the mower is my SIL and I'm just thankful he does it.  He saves me a bundle every summer.

Now I'm off to bed early and I'll be able to sleep because I know the Soda Shoppe will be there in the morning.

Good morning everyone 53° and sun is shining. Yesterday morning was sunny and warm and very humid. Clouded up and started raining on and off most of the afternoon, a few claps of thunder, too. Went out and it felt like walking into a sauna.
Just heard someone stole a rescue vehicle in front of the RI hospital in Providence. Police trailed him over the state line and arrested him. Thank goodness no one was in it

JANE  toward the end of June we should have native strawberries. Will have to get a few quarts and freeze some for next winter. That is about the first local food here.

JANE I was here yesterday morning  ???

MARY ANN  I used to post here a couple of times a day but lately seems I get here in the morning and that's it. I get back to the compiter late afternoon for the daily visit on Skype with my daughter. I check email in the morning and again after chatting with my daughter.

SHIRLEY  I believe none who post here will ever forget JOAN.

WOW it really was quiet here yesterday. Maybe everyone was out enjoying a beautiful spring day.

To help
Murray Lancaster

I  love stories.  One of my favorites is about a little girl who was late coming home for supper.  Her mother made the expected irate parent's demand to know where she had been.

The little girl replied that she had stopped to help Janie, whose bicycle was broken in a fall.

"But you don't know anything about fixing bicycles," her mother responded.

"I know that," the girl said.  "I just stopped to help her cry."

Not many of us know anything about fixing bicycles, either. And when our friends have fallen and broken, not their bicycles but their lives, NONE of us knows how to fix that.  We simply cannot "fix" someone else's life, even though that's what we would like most to do.

But like the little girl, we can stop to help them cry.

That is the best we can do.  And that is a lot!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The sun is shining to welcome the day....  That's the beginning of a song we used to sing in high school chorus and when the sun shines, I often break into it.  I'm not very good without the whole chorus behind me but the dogs don't seem to mind.

I did make the tuna filets for supper yesterday....and today....and tomorrow and....  And I made potato pancakes and chili carrots to go with them.

Today I'm meeting former office associates for lunch.  It's very near one friend's birthday and we always celebrate with her.  She'll be 88 in a few days.  She never had any children but she has a very sweet niece who moved in with her and looks after her.  She brings her to our lunches and we've adopted her as a regular member of the group.

Then later this afternoon, I'll be picking up TLH after school.  She called me this weekend to ask me if I'd be upset if she accepted an invitation from a school friend to attend a "Last Day of School" party at a friend's house instead of our usual McDonalds outing.  I told her McDonalds and I could wait until she was ready.  Just let me know when.  I guess it's beginning....

Gotta go get a shower and get dressed and put some stuff away.  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!

Hi Everyone. I see I was the last to post here yesterday.  We actually have the sun shining, at least for a little while this morning.  We expect to have a mostly cloudy or and cloudy day all day with only a 20% chance of rain.

I plan on a very laid back day today and as far as I know I won't be going anywhere, except to the mailbox.  There are a number of small things I put on my to-do list for today to be done here in the house.

Yesterday I was tired by the time I left for Church and really tired when I got home.  I drove the PT Cruiser to Church, stopping to fill the tank with gas.  I had to lead the singing at Sunday School as none of the choir member were in attendance.  We had Confirmation Sunday as well as Pentecost.  We had seven young people Confirmed into the Church in a very nice ceremony.  They participated in the Service in various ways as well.  The children's and youth choirs joined the Sanctuary choir in the anthem and did a super job of singing.  It was a long service.

I had called and ordered the sub to be picked up between 12:15 and 12:20 right after Sunday School. However, first I went by and picked up Jennifer and after stopping at the Firehouse Subs we came on out to the house and she took the Cruiser back so her father can use it and she can use his car.  Unfortunately the air conditioning isn't cooling so he will take it to the garage this morning to get it fixed as it is too hot down here during the summer not to have AC.  By the time I got home all I wanted to do was lay down an rest and that is what I did.  I ate my lunch late in the afternoon.  When I tuned in the golf I found there had been a 4 hour rain delay so some of the players were just starting their rounds.  I watched the rest of the afternoon, took time out to watch the National News and 60 Minutes and then tuned back in to the Golf Channel and watched the young 21 year old win his first PGA Championship by 3 strokes.

Lloyd, glad you are giving your leg time to heal and keeping it elevated.  Those mice can be very elusive.

Don, I am sure you will be happy to get home to see your family but a bit sad to be leaving Bubble.  I hope you will have some photos to share.

Gloria, just as you can't image living anywhere other than where you do and I feel the same about living here in the South although have lived in several other areas of the country.  Glad the maintenance man refused to have the visitors car towed.  Stealing a rescue vehicle like stealing a police car seems like the height of insanity.  That is a cute story you posted for today.

Amy, hope you don't have to work too hard today.

Jane, it sounds like you had a nice day yesterday. Tilapia is about the only fish we eat and we have some in our freezer.  Tuna or salmon is also OK although we usually have on the canned variety.  Hope you have a great time today at the lunch with your former office associates.  It was nice of Kiran to be considerate and ask you about missing McDonald's.

Shirley, you sure have a lot of things to keep up at your place.  I hope the pool will be finished up for you today.

June, I hope you will have better luck posting today.  I know it is very frustrating to lose a message that one has worked on.  If that happens again try going back one page.  As you probably know it is the little left pointing arrow near the top of the page on the left side.

Denver

Good Monday morning wishes to EVERYFRIEND.

WE had pretty much a dreary weekend with not enough moisture to justify it!

Last evening we joined Dr. Dave, and family, Brian and Cathy at Dave’s club for a fun Birthday dinner and Bingo.  We all had a wonderful time.  My second born son turns 47 years old today.

This is the last week of school for our grands.  So many extra things are scheduled, that mama wishes were not, as it makes it doubly stressful for all!  Wednesday evening all three grands have their piano recital.  We always look forward to going and hearing them play.  But, before they can do this, Kate has dance practice that she can not miss as the dance recital is this Saturday. Matt, the oldest has a flag football play off game for the championship.  We are not sure if we will have to help pick up any of them to get them to the recital or not.  Sure glad we are here to be able to help out!

LARRY, every time I have found my post page empty, I have tried going back and it just is not there.  That is a good suggestion though.  Sadly, the reason for any posts to be lost in my case is because I am in a hurry and just do not think about saving it, and bam, it is gone.

JANE, I know exactly what you are feeling, regarding your special time with the TLH. We all know the day will come when we will have to share our special times with the grands with someone else.  I guess that just makes the times we do have with them that much more special!

SHIRLEY, I hope the guy gets your chemicals all added and you can be done with the stress of having your pool resurfaced. I wish I could pop in and enjoy a nice swim!  I really miss not having our own pool, but I do not miss the expense of the up keep!

We are to have a delightful week weather wise.  Our planted flowers are looking so pretty.  I just hope and pray that we can get by with our afternoon showers minus the hail!

I wish you all a good day.

Good afternoon, as it is almost 2 p.m. on the East coast.

I haven't been in here for a couple days.  I haven't been feeling well.  Fighting a UTI.  I went to one of those Urgent Care places yesterday, a first for me.  It was a nice place, and nice people, but took a lot longer.  My DIL took me and we were there about 3 hours.  Did a lot of just sitting and waiting.  They had to do some tests and then had to talk to a PA, then talked to the doctor,  then had to wait for the RX's and somebody came in to explain them.  Had to wait at Walmart, as we got there just as they were closing for lunch.  A long day.

I do feel a little better this morning, after being up and down all night.  Have had several naps, and more are coming, I am sure.

Gloria,  I certainly am happy that the maintenance man didn't follow the manager's orders.  She certainly should know  she can't tell somebody  to do something like that.  I sure hope you will see some improvements soon.

Larry, sure hope you are feeling more chipper today.

I feel the zz's approaching.

Have a great day,

Jenny, I hope you don't have hail, it sure can make a mess of everything.

Jane, what are chili carrots? Sure sounds interesting. I picked up a package of chicken breasts yesterday and oh my one will do us for 2 if not 3 meals!! I plan on slicing it almost in half, stuff it and wrap it in bacon.

Gloria, I am not a fan of fresh strawberries but will pick them for others to eat. I do like strawberry jam and strawberry rhubarb pie though.

Don, thank you so much for sharing your trip with us. I have enjoyed all the photos you have posted and look forward to more when you get home.

Better get going ..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm off to WM this morning to greet my public.  Wish me smiles.

AMY,  Sweet Chili Carrots are put up by Birdseye in one one of those microwave steam packages.  I saw them at the Amish store and they sounded intriguing so I bought 2 bags.  They are delicious and before the second bag is gone, I'm going to look for a recipe.

My son is in the cell phone fixing business.  My SIL's phone did the same thing mind did and he was able to tell them on the phone how to fix it.  YAY!  No bills!

I'll check later to see what everyone has been up to.  It's raining here today and supposed to last all day.  More mud puddles!
