Good morning everyone..

A scorcher of a day here , one to stay in and enjoy the a/c!  Think I will sew today and I want to try a recipe that my son makes and everyone loves .That will be part of supper tonight along with cold cuts and garden salad.

Joy, sounds like everyone had a wonderful time and the rain didn't dampen any spirits!

Shirley, stay safe!!I remember my friend saying that when a tornado was about she would grab a good book, a glass of wine and sit in her bathtub till it was over with. Sounds like a fun trip with your family.

Jane, hope you feel better soon, I miss your posts!!

Better go get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone. Yesterday was the warmest so far and very few went outside. I did go out for a walk while waiting for my CNA and before the humidity got higher.

LARRY  the DD stores said they was not many requests for them. Before they stopped making them they started putting a thick chocolate frosting on them. I used to take a knife and scrape that chocolate off.

CAROL  would love to see your quilt with the southwest colors. I know my daughter would love it. She loves those colors. Now living in Arizona those are the colors she has been using in her hew home.

AMY  my SIL would use my daughter's relisn on almost every thing. Toward the beginning of the season and time to make more relish my daughter had to stop him from doing that if he wanted it to last till she made more. Her ingredients almost all came from her garden.

GLORIA de  great that the management where you live checks people out, no riff raff will get in and be loud and trouble makers.

JUNE  my neighbor has been here for years and has her AC in her bedroom window and at first when I heard it I could not figure  what the noise was. Now that I know it does not bother me.

SHIRLEY  wish you a relaxing time in Colorado mountains. Have a safe trip. I did get a chuckle with the doves flying backwards.

JOY  since I seldom get out anymore even going out for an appointment I get worn out.

JANE  hope today is a day you can stay home and rest doing just what you want.

AMY  going to be hot here again today. already into the low 70's.

Have a good day.

I'm off to WM this morning.  Wish me lots of smiles and short registers.

I work until 1 p.m. and then I'll drop my car off at the service center for inspection and (hopefully) a cheap fix for the a/c.  I'm pretty sure, going without it isn't really an option.

Have a good day!

Hi Everyone.  It is another overcast morning.  After quite a bit of rain yesterday afternoon the chances are only about 20% for more rain today and we are to have a high of 83.  Pat's dental cleaning went well yesterday with no new cavities to be filled, which is always what you want to hear.  We did learn that in a few weeks our dentist will be moving his office and consolidating with his father's practice in another part of the Augusta area.  On the way back home we stopped at the Costco gas station to fill the tank and then went on over to our local Walmart as Pat needed some cosmetics.  We then went to the Daily Queen, which is on an out parcel where Walmart is and that their $5 lunch special.  We enjoyed a quiet leisurely lunch and then we didn't have to worry about dinner last evening as it was a big meal.

I got up about 6 am this morning and showered and then partially dressed and laid back down and read my emails, devotionals, and the new postings in the discussions I follow each day.  About 7 I decided I was ready to get up but as I started to put on my shirt I thought this would be a good day to finally clean out my closet and other clothes so before putting on my shirt for the day I went into the closet and checked out what clothes I wanted to dispense with.  Pat wants some of my discarded shirts for the fabric so she will get what she wants and the rest I will donate.  I still need to go through my bureau drawers and dispense with what I no longer wear or need.  I will do that later this morning.

Yesterday afternoon I had a call from my lung doctor's office asking if I could come in this afternoon for my appointment rather than in June. It was originally scheduled for May but they had rescheduled it.  They apparently had some cancellations this afternoon.  So I will do that at 3 pm and that will get that done for another year.  This evening at 5:30 we have our last Wednesday night dinner at the Church.  The menu is hamburgers and hot dogs with coleslaw and chili , French fries & sweet potato fries and all the trimmings and dessert.  It is a special occasion as we will be having a Roast & Toast for our current Associate Pastor, which will be leaving in June to become Pastor of two small Churches in another part of the State. Scott and perhaps Elizabeth will be coming out to the house afterwards to spend a couple of hours.  So it will be a relatively busy day.

Carol, you all sure get a lot of hail out your way.  Fortunately that is something we don't seem to have much or any of in this area.  Pat got the big Instant Pot and it is very heavy and it has to stay on the corner of our kitchen island, which is pretty good sized. It takes quite a few other pans and racks to use it at least that is what Pat has bought.  She keeps printing out new recipes to try in it and most of them have turned out well.  The only failure was half of an angel food cake but she knows that she over beat the batter before baking.  We had some of the first half of the mix last evening with strawberries and it tasted fine but it had not raised very much. She has a special small angel food cake pan to use in the Instant Pot.  Pat wants to have some of my shirts that I am discarding this morning to salvage the material.  I think she uses some of it to make table napkins but doesn't use it in quilts since she also uses the cotton only, as far as I know. I sure hope you are feeling better today.

Amy, I wouldn't even attempt to stack wood anymore.  However, I did quite a bit of that when I was growing up on the farm.

June, glad the computer problem was the server and not your computer.  That was a nice temperature you had yesterday.  Glad you found the reason for the AC noise and didn't need a repairman.  Happy Birthday to your oldest son.

Shirley, it sounds like you and your sons have the camping experience down well.  Nice that you buy your groceries where you have parked your RV's overnight.  I hope you get along better this time in the mountains with your oxygen.

Jane, hope you will get to feeling more "chatty" as the day goes on as always enjoy your writing and you had good lines at your register this morning.  Having had my PT Cruiser A/C repaired the last two years I have come to the conclusion that there isn't any cheap repair.  I hope you have a different experience and it is nothing major and perhaps just need a topping off of the Freon.

Amy, you will have to tell us what the new recipe is as you have left of wondering.  It sounds like a good day to stay inside where it is cool.

Gloria, I don't think I would care for a chocolate frosting on a lemon filled doughnut either.  I hope you can stay nice and cool today.

deAngel, it sounds like the management of your mobile home park works to keep things updated and nice looking.  I expect he stays pretty busy with that many homes as probably someone leaving or moving in fairly often.  We lived in a mobile home when we were in Illinois and Kentucky but outgrew it as the two children grew.  The park we lived in when we moved to Springfield, Illinois was brand new and had some strict rules but looked very nice.  When we moved it ot Frankfort, Kentucky we couldn't find any available park for it and had to put it in a really run down and not basically undesirable park halfway between Frankfort and Lexington.  As soon as a new park opened in Frankfort we had it moved there.  Sometime after we sold it and moved it was blown away or destroyed by a tornado.  I am not sorry I asked the question at all as that was interesting information you provided.

Carol

Three friends and I are going to view their husband's graves at Ft. Logan this morning.  We will be going early because of thunderstorms predicted for the afternoon.  Typical here.

Shirley:  Safe travel to you - I know you and Jenny keep in touch.  I live withing walking distance to her.

Gloria de:  That is a big park.  I think there are a lot of good things to belong to a group and sometimes there are not so nice ideas about it.  Here, a couple of people want the huge evergreen tree taken out - it is at the corner next to our house.  I love it and the tons of birds love it as well.  Always something to be crabby for some people.   :)

Jane:  I always think of you when we shop at WM - wishing you happy and considerate people in your line.

Gloria:  I too like Southwest colors and we painted Don's office room a rust color that goes nicely with his wood hangings, etc.  The rest of the house is painted warm - I would say golden beige and accented with rust and splashes of teal or a bit of orange red.  The house was all white (not clean) with even white carpet when we moved in and now everything is changed.  It looks sunny even on an overcast day.

Tomorrow, we will meet our youngest son's latest rescue German Shepard.  It sounds like he is really sweet.  I hope so - never forgot the meeting with the one named Cochise - who jumped on me, I thought I would die right there from a heart attack.

Larry, I know I've posted this before, but long ago.  When I was growing up, we had an elevated oven stove with no oven control.  When my mother would bake a cake, she'd use one of my toy muffin tins to test the oven temperature.  That worked fine with regular cakes, but it did not work with an angel food cake.  When Mother did make an angel food cake, the middle usually fell out when she was cooling it upside down.  Then Dad would go to the drug store and buy a quart of ice cream and some chocolate syrup and we'd have the good part of the cake along with the ice cream and syrup.  For one birthday I asked for the angel food cake - and I got it the way I wanted it.

I'm home.  I had a short register for the first half and an extremely busy long one for the second half.  Mostly nice people...lots of smile.  I'm exhausted.  Gonna rest.  I read everything and mostly I agree and understand and like what I read.  That's it for now!

Another rush-rush day, even thought it was Thursday/mow day, so unlocked gates & took care of tidying up the stuff I cut out of the berm yesterday, big pile of limbs.  Those darn mulberry trees grow so fast just since spring when I last cut them down & already had berried turning red/purple.  Such a mess when birds eat & visit the top of the RV & around the pool & driveway... yuck, big blobs of purple!

Have not seen a mention in here about the warning by FBI and our computers/routers.  I pulled up this link after hearing on radio what a nightmare this can be.......I did turn off my router & back on but not willing to go too far with my old computer.   Here's the best link I found to explain, many to look at with a Google.

Gloria, you and I live about the same way...stay at home...nurse our backs...and enjoy coming here to visit our cyber family. I start out good in the mornings, but after lunch I turn into a zombie. All I want to do is nap, read, nap some more, and get on the computer to see what is going on with all of you.

Janie, your day started poorly, but turned out pretty well at work. I'll bet you always get a loving greeting from your four legged kids when you arrive home.

Tisie, you and Amy are the only two gals that really do hard work. I envy you, as I miss that style of life. But I'm thankful I am here doing very little, but still here.

Now it is time to think about supper. I am staying home....not hungry...so it will be something light. Then  on to book and early bed time..keep well and happy dear hearts. God is watching over us, we are so Blessed. June

Shirley, Tom read the article so came in here and turned off the router, then turned it back on.  I had not heard of the possible hacking.

June, your day goes much like mine, but I think it is our right at our ages.  I never have had a lot of energy, just operated on an even keel and I still do.  Right now I'm trying to pack for Indps, going Friday for a total of four days.  Tom will take me to Merrillville IN and we'll meet the other Tom who will take me to Indps.  Monday we'll reverse the procedure.

Good morning everyone

Going to be a hot sticky day here with the possibility of a thunder storm.
Nothing on the agenda for the day, will just let it happen.

Shirley, can you eat the mulberries or make them into jam?

Larry, I also use my hubby's shirts ,he gave me some nice flannel ones that will make a cozy quilt. My son cooks the spiral pasta, then puts, onions, celery, cut up cherry tomatoes and sun dried tomato dressing and a cup of frozen peas in it. I don't know what it is called, just that it is delicious!

Jane, hope today is a great day for you.

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone.

Amy is that raw onions and celery? I usually parboil them for the pasta and yes, it is a delicious mixture!

I'm up with nothing planned until the garage calls to tell me my car is ready for another round.  It's being inspected and the a/c will either be fixed or bypassed.  They are supposed to call me with a price sometime today.  If it's not one thing, it's another!

We're waiting out the boinger for the doggies pills.  Then I'm thinking, change the bed and mix a meatloaf for supper.  Whatever else shows it's face will be dealt with.

June, you are absolutely right about the dogs.  They are always happy on both ends when I come home and it doesn't matter how long I've been gone.  It's the same.

I hope you all have a lovely day filled with exactly what you wish for.

Hi Everyone. We are headed to around 87 degrees this afternoon with only a less than 50% chance of rain throughout the day and evening.  Nothing planned for today other than to pick up my friend at the retirement home and we will go to coffee for about an hour.  I do need to get a loaf of bread at the Walmart near to where he lives and may try to do that before we go to coffee.

I did get in to see the lung doctor yesterday.  I didn't have to take the breathing test as I had the two previous years I have seen this doctor.  She did suggest that I get a 50 ft. tube and use the oxygen a couple of times a day and walk in our home.  I stopped at the medical supply store and they gave me the hose I needed but not the cannula piece that I would need to use it.  So I went back to the store before going to the Church for dinner and got hopefully what I need.  I will test it out today.  Fortunately, our home has a fairly long hallway that I can use for walking.  We are planning on having a repeat of the ribs, coleslaw and fresh sweet corn for our dinner this evening.  I have already set the table for the evening as I emptied the dish washer.  No sense in putting those items in the cabinets and then taking them out again.  I am waiting for Pat to get up and will likely then fix her breakfast.

Carol, why do they want to remove the tree that is next to your house?  I can't imagine why anyone wants white carpet if they are going to use the room at all.  Your color scheme in your home sounds very nice.  This house has the walls painted an off white/ light beige color and there is a lot of woodwork and that is all painted white.  However, the wood floors are all dark wood.

Mary Ann, the way your folks fixed the angel food cake sounds like a winner to me.  You can't go wrong with ice cream and chocolate sauce. That is basically what we have used with the fallen angel food cake Pat fixed in the Instant Pot.  I hope she doesn't try that again.

Jane, I see some of the folks at Walmart with the buggies filled to overflowing and know that the cashier must be dreading ringing all of that up and then having to bag it.  I hope you got a good night's sleep and feel rested today.

Shirley, I sure don't envy you the mulberry bushes.  It reminds we of the business trip I took to Nashville one time and parked the rental car under a mulberry tree while I ate dinner.  When I came out it was really a mess and I was sure glad it wasn't my personal car. I will check out the article you posted but do reboot my router on occasion.

June, like you I try to do most things that need to be done in the mornings and then spend the afternoon resting or in my easy chair with the computer.  I have a certain routine I normally follow after I get up from resting.

Amy, I asked Pat yesterday what she did with the fabric from my shirts and she said she does use it in quilts.  I was mistaken to think she only used cotton fabric in her quilts.  That does sound like an interesting pasta dish made by your son.  Does he do a lot of the cooking in his household?

Sandy

Bubble, yes it is raw onion and celery, he uses green onions in it.I finally got the sundried tomato dressing this morning, pasta is done and will throw it together later. Bought fresh strawberries and they are all cleaned and ready too.

Larry, my son loves to cook, all his friends want him to open up a restaurant but he says no.  He smokes a lot of meats ,loves to bbq summer and winter and send Mom photos of these mouth watering dishes....bless him  :smitten:

Larry:  The huge evergreen tree is taller than the house.  Tons of birds have nests in there.  At the corner - everyone must turn either right (to get out of the development or left for other homes.  There are a few senior citizens who have accidentally driven straight almost into the sidewalk and fence across the street.  They should not be driving unless they do intend to stop at the stop sign.  I should take a video of the careless ones still driving.

Someone - not naming - bought a Roomba (the self vacuum) and it is really interesting.  It made a noise the other day and I said, "come in" thinking a neighbor or son was at the door.  So, I need to name this critter that wants to stop under the bed - looking all over the house for it some times. This way, I can vacuum every other day and it does a great job.  It doesn't do laundry yet.

Success today for finding a new doctor and I am set up this next week.

One son took a picture of a deer relaxing in the yard nearby - I haven't seen any in the ravine this year and no coyotes are howling either.  Rabbits galore.

JaneS

you never realize how much you depend on an appliance until you are without it.  My microwave died last night.  It just went without a whimper as it ended.  No light, no clock, no timer nothing.  And no amount of nudging or moving the plug will revive it.  Thank goodness it's still in warranty but I sure do miss it!

And that's the way my week's been going.  At least, the garage guy found a used part for my A/C in the car and that's a saving of almost $200.  Thank you Bucky!

Maybe things are looking up!

Hope you are all having a good day.

CAROL, I've thought I'd like to have a Roomba but I think they are too much for my pocketbook.  I'd be interested to hear reports on how you like it as time passes.

I am too tired......Morning was great as usual, but lunch time started to go down. Had about a two hour nap, then went to a sale across the hall from  me. Bought two tiny goebel statues for just five dollars. One had been repaired but nothing noticeable. I don't collect for value, I just like the looks. Then as they were closing shop I saw a book case that I really wanted..nice wood,  adjustable shelves, and they just charged me five dollars. The man brought it over to my apt., thank God. I didn't realize how heavy it was til I had to do some re-arranging. I managed,  but my body aches. I'll probably get scolded by my kids, but fortunately they are out of town so I can hopefully heal before they get back.

I'm going to have supper at home but I am not a bit hungry. I will go down and check for mail then come home and call it a day.

Have a good night dear hearts. I love you all. June
