June Drabek

Good Morning all, another lazy day is on my  calendar for today. I have been waking early for some reason. Had my usual "nurse" visit about 6 a.m. but I had been awake long before that. Thought I didn't feel well and maybe should spend the day in bed…..nice thought but it didn't happen. Instead I got in the shower and just sat there with the hot water pouring down on me.Felt just perfect. was drying off  while still in the turned off shower and a tapping came on my door, which is visible from the shower seat…..so I called "come in", and it was one of the nurses checking out our emergency buttons…..doing the whole building.  So as not to upset their schedule I invited her in to what was needed….well covered with a big thick bath towel, and she did what was needed and left. Finally got myself dressed for the day, plopped down in the recliner to do my morning readings and a hymn sing. All that took about an hour or more. Made myself a bowl of instant oatmeal, the read my current novel , and now here where I have read all your good messages.

Now it is time to haul the body down for lunch, so I will see you all later.     Me, june.

Amy:  So beautiful - thank you!

Gloria:  Thoughts and prayers for your daughter as she goes through surgery and recovery.

June:  Glad you had a towel!   8)

Mary Ann:  that sounds like a nice connection - your dad and Mr. Ford.

My family had a friend who was an aide to General Eisenhower and we heard a lot of really nice stories of him as well.

Mary Ann

Amy, that was beautiful.  I sang along with it.

Shirley

Amy, that is beautiful & best meds I've had all day... looks like a good dose of Alaska wilderness & calming thoughts.  Thanks!

Gloria, have already asked God for special care for Regina as I've been thinking constantly about my sister-in-law having suregery
today on her other knee.  It has been about a week since my daughter's surgery for "repairs" on the hernia that was repaired before and she said last night that she is finally getting better.  She's had surgery before (Crohn's & hernia repair) plus 4 kids, but this was the most painful since morphine doesn't work on her & the Tylenol 3 upset her tummy.  She is off all meds now & feeling much better. I hope Regina recovers as fast.

I'm going to try to catch a few zzzzzzzs before the afternoon is completely gone.  Not been a good week for getting a full night sleep.  Keep on talkin'  ..........

Mary Ann, I did, too, sing along.

Time to do all the getting ready for bed stuff and then snuggle down with book and bed. May God bless you all with a perfect sleep and a healthful, happy tomorrow. I love you all. June

I worked this morning then came home and rested a bit, had lunch and went back out to do some errands.  I've just about decided that next year everyone will get candy and a gift card.  I never thought I'd be out running around Christmas shopping at this age.  I really don't like dark, bright sunshine or traffic!  You don't suppose I'm getting old, do you!  I sound a little cranky right now.

I did squeeze in a short nap right before supper and after supper I wrapped all the individual pb saltines for the cashiers and other front end people.  I still need to get some stickers to pretty them up.  Then all I have to do with the candy is some pb ritz crackers for my grandniece, pack the mixed bags for friends and the chocolate is done.  I still want to make gumdrops...my favorite!  And I have to roast the peanuts and pack them.  Then I have to get the boxes off.  I sure could use an assistant!  Wonder if Kiran would like that job!

This Thursday and Friday are the shopping days for our extra discount from working Thanksgiving.  I'm off Thursday so my plan is to get up and out early before I have time to get tired.  I've been working on my list all day and tomorrow I have to organize it and get it in order so it doesn't have me running hither and yon all over the store.  I'll be glad when that chore is done.

I'm about ready to be off to dreamland .  It's been a complicated day.  The doggies are out now checking for "skinky stunks" (translation stinky skunks) which I pray they don't find every time they go out in the dark.  When they come back in 'll make a quick sweep through the kitchen and then prepare to hit the hay so I'll wish you all....

Good night Everyfriend.  Sleep peacefully.  Wake refreshed and may God bless us Every one!

we both thank you, sweet Dreams everyone. Hope to see you all tomorrow.

Hall i went and brought a bead barker tool today It works great, takes all the work out of braking down tires. works relay easy with just a ratchet wrench.
you can look on the net and see what it looks like if you wish.

Well I see I am not alone in getting ready for bed.

Lloyd, back in my younger days when I worked for Goodyear in the service department I broke a few handles out of the old hammers we had to break down truck tires.  Some of the truckers got plumb upset if you dinged their pretty, shiny rims.  They got those nice machines to do all that work now days, like they use on car tires. We had a guy who had been in the tire business for years, I swear he could break down a truck tire with two licks, he tried to teach me but guess I was just to dumb and clumsy.  He took care of commercial sales.

Well folks off to bed.
Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.

Amy

Good morning everyone..

So warm here this morning that we haven't put a fire on yet. Taking my van in to get the light fixed plus the rattle underneath it.

Glad you enjoyed the video as I did also and played it a few times.

Better scoot, slept in and need to boogie.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning Everyfriend.  I was up at my usual time and we did the pill thing with the doggies but I had some thins to look up on line and I've been distracted from coming here.

I'll be off to Wally World for my shift at 9 and then I have a "sorting out" afternoon planned.  I have to see what I have left to buy for Christmas and organize my shopping list for tomorrow.  After that, my only plann is to finish up the chocolate candy and rest up for tomorrow.

I hope you all have a lovely day and I hope when I come back we will have heard from Joan.

Hi Everyone. We are headed up to 70 or above for today so should be a very nice day.  I will leave in a few minutes as have an early appointment with the eye doctor for the last check on my first cataract surgery.  Pat said she would like to go to JoAnns Fabric store to check out some foam to put at her back in her easy chair.  So we may do that today as this is the last day they have it on sale for 40% off.  This evening we will be having dinner at the Church, my third meal in three days there.  Then I expect Scott and Jennifer to come out for a little while.

Yesterday Pat had her dental cleaning (no cavitites except in the wallet as that seems to go up in price about every time we have an appointment). As we came back it was time to stop at the Church for our Senior Adult Meeting.  Our program was great and presented by the senior members of the choir and our very talented choir director/pianist.  It really put us all in the Christmas spirit.  This was followed by a very hearty ham and bean soup, salad and dessert.

Amy, like you I am having to do almost all of the driving now.  Pat can still drive but told me she doesn't feel as confident that she is a safe driver.  I told her I will take her where ever she wants to go. Unfortunately, the way she feels she doesn't want to get out much but at least isn't as housebound as she was several months ago.  Did you find some trouble to get into yesterday?  :)

Gloria, sure hope your daughter's surgery goes well today.  Nice you can still go outside for some fresh air.  Like you I wish we could get a new posting from Joan or at least hear from Joe what is happening to her.

Jeanne, that is a funny joke.  What a mixup.

Mary Ann, that joke also caused me to laugh out loud when I read the last line.

Hal, your wife is wise to take her time and find just the carpet she wants.  I am not a patient shopper so tend to make up my mind quickly.  Like you I didn't participate in Cyber Monday.  My wife had done enough shopping on Black Friday!

June, glad you decided you felt better than you thought you might early yesterday morning.  I awoke a little before four this morning and then sort of napped on and off until I got up a little before 7.

Shirley, glad your daughter is feeling much better.  It is tough when pain medication doesn't work.  My SIL is very difficult to medicate as is allergic to many meds.  I hope the knee replacement surgery goes well for your SIL.  I watched my wife go through that recovery period from her knee surgery and it was painful but she is so glad she did it.  The hip replacement wasn't as difficult.

Jane, I just bet your family would be very happy with what you propose for next year and would prefer that you not run around shopping.  I don't think getting old applies to either you or Shirley as you both seem to be whirlwinds with all that you do.

Lloyd, I remember my dad fixing flat tires and that was really a lot of work.  Glad you found a tool to make the job easier.

halkel

Good Morning Everyone!

Well I see that Amy and JaneS has already checked in, as usual.  No grass grows under their feet.

Janie, you were talking about kids and gifts.  We quite shopping for the adults some years back, we just do our shopping at the bank.  They even furnish the gift cards and envelopes.  We are doing the same this year, except not quite as much as we normally give.

The ladies of the family are trying to figure out Christmas dinner.  Who is cooking what and where we are going to have it, one of the Grandson in law was going to do it but it appears he now has backed out.  We always had it, naturally, Mom and Dad but at 85 (almost 86) Mom doesn't need the responsibility or the work, especially the work.  Anyhow it will get done I am sure, suspect my oldest daughter will end up doing the job.

Amy weather here is very mild, but not that unusual.  I can remember some Christmas times running around with no shift or shoes when I was a kid and also remember a couple, one in particular, where is was 7 degrees on Christmas day.  Hey! it is Texas.  We are due some real snow, hasn't snowed, where it covers the ground in almost 25 years.  We have had sleet and snow flakes but not covering the ground.  Have a ice storm or two.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, much warmer than yesterday, going to be in the 50's later. Tomorrow back to being cold and windy. Figures, I have an appointment tomorrow, hard getting into my warm jacket now. Just heard on TV that Matt Lauer has been fired from the Today show, another one in the molesting outings that are surfacing. So many years ago he was a co host on a local show from Providence. He had a lot of hair back then.

JEANNE LEE  reading your post about the flowers I had just taken a sip of coffee and almost chocked on it trying to laugh at the last line. Good one.

MARY ANN  it has been windy here lately, have been wearing a hat when I go out for my daily walk and I really dislike hats.

HAL  it is misty here this morning but we have had more than our share of rain the last few months. Smart finding the right carpeting or will never be happy it.

JUNE  nothing like starting the day sitting in the shower letting the nice warm water beat on my back.

AMY  I have a link to andiesisle. So many wonderful things in there.

CAROL  thanks. This is the first time she has had surgery and I think I am mor nervous than her. My SIL will be calling me when  it is over.

SHIRLEY  thank you. Being so far from her is bad enough but having to wait who knows how long for word already has me on pins and needles. Only times she was in a hospital before was when her 2 sons were born. I went out there both times for a couple of weeks te give her time to get used to being a Mom and I did the cooking and housework.

JANE  not getting old, there is too much traffic and too many people  now. It has been years now since I was in the stores before Christmas. Can you just see me bumping into everyone with my rollator to get them out of my way? I know Kiran would be happy to help you with anything.

HAL  you were not dumb about those tires, we all have something we just cannot learn.

LARRY  thank you, being so far from me I do worry about my daughter. I stopped driving when I could mo longer turn the wheel for a sharp left turn. I still miss not having a car and being independant but goes with the age.

Guess I better get a move on before my CNA gets here. Have a good day.

Good Morning,

'Tis a gloomy chilly day in central Oklahoma.  We supposedly had rain overnight but I can't tell it did more than dampen the grass.

Nevertheless,  DIL is "chauffeuring" to do some shopping.  Not only will we enjoy spending time together, it's a chance for me to roam a bit farther afield than I would do by myself.  Stopping for lunch will, of course, be included.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable day.

Lloyd Hammond

well it seams we are never satisfied But if anyone  can figure out how to move the weather to where we want it we can sure use some rain up here now. if nothing else settle the dust on the roads. Have a good day and a better tomorrow.

Hall that new bead barker sure gets the work out if breaking a tire down to fix.

I hope everyfeiend's day has not been as frustrating as mine.  I'm finally finishing with the things I had planned (except for the nap)  I've got my list organized for tomorrow and it shouldn't take me all day to get it done.

Chocolate is melting and I'm going to finish all the chocolate for this year TONIGHT!  Rhen I'm going to clear off the table so I have somewhere to put all the stuff I bring home from the store tomorrow.  I still have to make some space in the fridge but when I finish the chocolate, I'll have two empty shelves in the freezer.

I guess I better go get started or I'll never get finished.  Don't know if I'll be back to say Good Night so....

Good night Everyfriend.

Mine has not been frustrating but unproductive.. they didn't find the rattle, they thought they did but when I drove home that darn rattle followed me. I did manage to get the floors washes, some fabric cut and I grabbed a nap.....no that is wrong the nap grabbed me and held me down for almost TWO hours!!!

I wonder if Gloria has heard anything from her daughter yet??

Lloyd, they say we are to get rain this week so I will send it on to you..

Larry, no trouble ,maybe I should try harder :)

Enjoy your evening everyone..

Does anyone make just plain old chocolate fudge with nuts anymore for Christmas.  Or divinity?  My daughter makes peanut brittle and pecans with sugar and cinnamon.

Off to bed, Amy, they may never find the rattle, it may be anything and it doesn't take a lot to sound like a lot......

Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams

June Drabek well just because I do not directly answer every time I still read your post. and you do rate high in my mined, true friend.

Hall no we haven't in a while either. But Nancy is into making Christmas guides.

Nancy is in bed asleep so can't have her help with my spelling. I woke up with a splitting head ace, took a couple pills and checked in here and talked to Peter in England so I am going back to bed for some more ZZZE's. hope to see you all after while. AMY seen your post about trying to head your rain on this way, thanks hope your prayores work. Have a great day, enjoy it.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I woke up with a bad cramp in my ankle and foot about 20 minutes before the alarm was set to go off.  My plan was to be up at 5;30 and I was.

Now I have a request for all you nice people and good cooks.  But first I'm going to explain why.  My granddaughter, Natalie and her husband Clint host a bible study group from their church and "Clint leads and Natalie feeds"   I'm looking for tried and true recipes that are easy and will feed a group of 8 t0 12 people who are still young enough to have good appetites.  Something that can be done in a casserole or the crockpot would be good or done ahead and popped in the oven to warm.  I'd like to come up with a cookbook of tried and true recipes that she could use to feed the bodies of their young friends while they also feed their souls.  If you want to ask friends or family members, I'll take whatever I can get but I want recipes that are proven.  I've already shared a lot of mine with them.  Also, I'm kind of in a hurry because this just came to mind and I'd like to do it for Christmas.  You can email them any time.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well I am up and have the coffee on and fixing to head to bathroom to get myself cleaned up for men's breakfast and bible study.

Janie, could always do like us men, pickup something on the way to study and she could make some coffee or tea or something else and a couple dozen donuts, depending on how many show up.  One dozen normally does up with a couple left over.  No one designated to bring them, someone just does.
Anyhow just a thought.

coolish this morning, not cold, that is coming next week they say.

Lloyd hope that old headache goes away.  Pain is never fun, same with your foot and ankle pain, Janie.

C U cats later  I got to get a move on.

Where is Amy?  I hope nothing is wrong.  Maybe she just overslept.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another beautiful day getting up to 71 degrees this afternoon.  Pat has to go back to the pain clinic this morning for a followup on her shots.  She is feeling up to driving herself.  I will pick up my friend at assisted and we will go downtown to have coffee with other friends.  I will take him home and then go back downtown to the Church for the Wisdom group.  I haven't been able to attend that for a few weeks so am looking forward to it.  That will be it for today.

The eye doctor told me yesterday that my eye was healing very well and that I shouldn't need prescription glasses but will be able to use OTC glasses for close work.  I signed all the papers for my second eye surgery on Monday.

Nothing but computer problems this morning that have used up my time and I need to leave in 5 minutes.  I will try to get back and later today.

Lloyd Hammond

good to see everyone seams to be showing up easy except JaneS . sorry she is having problems.  janeS  might be you should just stay in and take it easy.

I am writing while laying down so will be very brief. I said I would come back after reading the postings and share any comments that I had but I think you could all live without them for today I’ll see y’all tomorrow.

Joy

Good afternoon.   It has been a very pretty sunny day, but still a little chilly.  It is supposed to be warmer over the week end, and then get colder next week with maybe some of the "white stuff".  Not looking forward to that.

I have not been feeling too good today.  I am still taking medicine for the UTI.  Yesterday, I felt so good, I guess I might have overdone it.  Even made up a batch of peanut butter cookies.  It was an easy recipe that only called for peanut butter, sugar and 1 egg,  Surprisingly, they are good.  I learned real quick, tho, you have to really let them get cold before you take them off the cookie sheet.  The first one I tried to get off, just crumbled.  I might try to make some more of those.

I so envy Jane being able to make so many good sounding treats.  I just can't stand very long, and that makes me hesitant to even try.  But, these peanut butter ones I could do sitting down.

Larry, wishing you good luck with your surgery on Monday.

Hal, I am not sure if it was here or in Norm;s group, that you asked if anybody made plain old fudge.  I do and I have a easy recipe for making it in the microwave..  You can add nuts it you want or just put them on the top before you cut it into the squares.    If anybody is interested , I could put the recipe on the Food board.

I was late eating lunch, so I think a little nap sounds good.

Have a good rest of the afternoon.
