A couple of hours into a visit with my mother she noticed I hadn’t lit up a cigarette once. “Are you trying to kick the habit?”

“No,” I replied, “I’ve got a cold and I don’t smoke when I’m not feeling well.”

“You know,” she observed, “you’d probably live longer if you were sick more often.”

Good Morning everyone.

so_P_bubble very good one this morning. food for thought , maybe the reason women live loner than men is because when they get a little cough they dockter.
it is 53º and calling for a high of 56º today. is cloudy and on and off drizzle. but the sun is supposed to show it's face today. Have a great day just as you like it.

Good morning Everyfriend!  The temperature here is 27º with a predicted high of 44!  BRRRR!!!!  I think I'll bring my cute little space heater in my office.

Now, in addition to my crooked finger, I've misplaced my computer glasses!  If it's not one thing, it's two other ones.

I'll be off to Wally World this morning so wish me smiles and take a few of mine for yourselves.  Have a good day free from pain and full of God's love.

Good morning everyone..

20° here with hopes of getting warmer :)

Nothing on the agenda today, have to love days like this. Usually they do end up busier than planned ones though.

Bubble, cute joke and beautiful graphics...thank you!!

Joan, prayers heading your way..hope you feel better soon.

Jane, I keep $1.00 glasses all over the house..the ones that I find that  are hard to find are the ones on top of my head..but now that is the first place I look. Many smiles for you today and always..

Better scoot

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, for a change I woke early and hopefully it will not take hours for me to post with no interruptions. After 2 rainy days today there will be sunshine again. Might only last 1 day before rain returns so hope I can get out and enjoy it later.

JUNE  like you I can not do what I used to ad even after 2 years of getting help it bothers me to see others do the things I did every day without even thinking about it. Makes me feel like I am lazy but I just am unable to do much anymore. My daughet now ows a jeep, something they really need where they now live. Many years ago we hhad a Jeep station wagon.

MARY ANN  I never did much traveling and if mu daughter had not married and moved to San Diego I never would have been on a plane. I have always been happy at home but love seeing places in our country and with TV and computers I get to see many places. Remember the old TV program On The Road with Charles Curault? (sp) every week.  He traveled the less traveled roads and met people all over our USA.

JOAN  so glad Joe fixed your iPad and you can use it. Good advice from that mother. I should print it out and post it on the bulletin board by the elevator.

BUBBLE  thanks for the new page. Good chuckle.

JOAN  hope you feel better today.

AMY, I also have cheap reading glasses all over the house.  Unfortunately, the ones I can't find are specially tinted computer glasses.  They really do make it easier to be on the computer and I try to remember to leave them by the computer but this time I goofed.  They usually dont get much farther than the kitchen or the front door but this time they did.  My only hope is that they might have made it to the car.  I'll let you know when I come home from work.

I'm off...in more ways than one!

Good Morning Everyone!

Joanie, I am sorry to hear you had a bad night.  I hope you get to feeling better quickly.  Special prayer for you.

Janeie, you aren't off, just a normal person.  I have special computer glasses and sometimes I have to go into another room for something and I will forget and leave them on and lay them down.  And of course when I come back in here they aren't behind the keyboard where I keep them.

It is my other glasses I have problem keeping up with.  I am forever misplacing a pair of them, but they soon show up.  I suspect my wife swipes a pair of them to use.

Gloria, I have always been a homebody.  Although when I was young and single and stationed in England I spent a lot of time in London just looking.  It is hard to get lost in London, subways everywhere and you can always get back to your starting point.  Biggest problem I used to have back then (1950) was finding a meal.  They were still on rationing and he pubs and cafe's didn't have much of a choice.  But I have done lots of traveling all over Europe and the U.S. and even in Mexico.  Also Eastern Canada.  I don't know about now, but back in those days nearly 90 percent of the population of Canada was within 75-100 miles of the U.S.-Canadian border.

Got a doctors appointment this morning so better get off here and get to moving.  Everyone have a great day.

Gloria, CBS News at 6:30 has a feature of On the Road and for the life of me, his name escapes me, and last week they mentioned Charles Kuralt’s program.  The feature comes on in the last five minutes of the newscast on Fridays and that’s about all of the news I watch.  It comes on just before Wheel of Fortune.

Joan, I’m sorry to hear they had to call an ambulance for you and I hope you’re on the road to recovery.

I have computer glasses, dark glasses and regular glasses.  My dark glasses stay in a glasses case in my purse except when I’m wearing them.  Then my regular glasses are there.  I’ve been known to wear my computer glasses instead of my regular glasses when driving.  I usually don’t figure that out until I’m at my destination, then it’s too late.  Things are a bit fuzzy until I get the regular glasses on again.

I’m waiting for Tom to return so he can take me to my dentist appointment at 10 am.  It’s just up the road, but I can’t walk that far.  Not only that, the walk is uphill which is bad and I have to walk up a half flight of steps to get to the office.  My former dentist who had the building built admitted when he was ill that it was bad planning.  Too late now.

Hi Everyone.  We have a beautiful, sunny but cool morning here in South Carolina.  It will not get much above 60 degrees here today.  I have a light schedule for today.  The main thing will be having the Thanksgiving dinner at Church this evening and then for Scott and Jennifer to visit with us for awhile.  Pat isn't up to attending the dinner tonight and this one time they are not allowing take outs so she will have a chicken pot pie or something else in the refrigerator.  I also have to refill my medicine boxes a little later this morning.

On Monday Pat's sister, who was just here to visit, suffered a stroke, her second.  She is still hospitalized and they are running more tests this morning.

Mary Ann, our K-Mart in the area where we did live and then the one here also have closed.  One of my coffee drinking friends has a grandson who caddies for one of the top women golfers and she was offered $10,000 just to go to an overseas location, I think it was Korea, to play. I just schedule our contribution to our Church to be paid as on online payment.  In fact our Church encourages that has has two terminals set up where people can make contributions I think using a credit card.  I think a lot of people no longer put their contributions in the weekly collection plates.  I just keep a couple of checks in my billfold in case I might need to write a check for something special.

Hal, the two credit unions we belong to have Senior Accounts and one of the benefits is no charge for the checks.  We do use credit cards most of the time, except when eating out and sometimes even then, or for very small purchases.  Usually the checks are for birthdays or other gifts.  I hope your bank doesn't give you a hard time about their error.

Gloria, I always look forward to some stuffed celery for those special meals.  I fail to understand why business and subdivisions are allowed to plant big bushes that block exit sight when leaving their parking lots.  Our little city has its Christmas decorations on the light poles now but haven't put up the displays in the little city park across from our Church.  That was really a significant bank error.  I have never experienced anything like that.  The only errors I have found were a few cents off probably due to my poor handwriting quality.

June, that does seem like a steep price for laundry but it would be a pretty labor intensive and time consuming job for someone.  It is nice you have the iPad when you need it.  They are certainly handier than dealing with a laptop computer when in the hospital.  The treatment on my toes involves using Hydrogen Peroxide and then applying a wound ointment and putting band ads over them. After about two weeks I was able to do this once a day rather than twice and come Friday the treatments will be over.  I actually think it could have stopped today but I paid for medical advice so will follow what the doctor said and continue through Friday. This has taken about six weeks to heal which the doctor said is normal.  I have never heard of the Premier Protein drink.  I have just looked at what they have at Walmart and use the Walmart brand as it is two or three dollars cheaper.

Joan, glad to read that your iPad is now OK and that Joe was able to get things back in order. Are you back in the hospital today.  I hope you will have a better day than the night you had.

Carol, it is a shame your genealogy class has been a waste of time. Is the lady not aware that she speaks too softly especially if dealing with older folks whose hearing may not be as good as it used to be.  I wonder how the woman can be billed if they didn't actually see her at the emergency room.  It sounds like the bill is generated by the mere act of signing in.

Bubble, thanks for the new start for us.  That is a very intriguing graphic.  I liked your little joke as well.  Being sick doesn't seem to deter my family members from smoking.  I have never regretted not smoking and my wife doesn't smoke either.

Jane, hope you have had only happy customers today.  Have you checked out the accessibility settings on your computer? There are several settings that can make a page easier to read.  It is easy to also increase the size of the print on the page by using the control key with the mouse wheel.  I use it quite often if the print is too light and the larger I make it the brighter the print seems to become.

Amy, it is nice to have a day occasionally where you don't have a list of things to accomplish.

CallieOK

Good Morning,

Bubble, thank you for opening the new Soda Shoppe.

Joan,  I'm so sorry you had problems during the night.  Hope things are better this morning.

After many years of having to switch between regular glasses and dark glasses, I found some dark glasses at Walgreen's that slip on over my regular glasses and aren't clip-ons.  They even had several colors and styles.

Got my "assignments" for Thanksgiving dinner contributions and decided to buy ahead for Christmas baking, etc.  I was astounded that the big grocery store (Crest) had no orange marmalade except for small "gourmet" jars.  There wasn't even a space for it among the Smucker's flavors.
That's about the 3rd or 4th item Crest no longer carries.
I know Jello stopped making the sugar free lemon-flavor but can't believe I'm the only one who wants the other items.

Oh, well - if that's the biggest "issue" I have to deal with this week, it will be o.k.  At least, I haven't had to think "What now?" every time the phone rings.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

June Drabek

Good Morning all. We will be having Bible study in another hour, so I will not dawdle.

Bis, what happened...a breathing problem ? Something they could not handle where you are now ? I'm sorry this had to happen, when you seemed to be doing so well. I pray that God will not let this happen again, it would be discouraging for you, I'm sure. I am thankful they keep a good watch on you, and God is always there, we know that.

Hal, I hope you get some good news from your Dr. today.

Callie there are several people here that have the personal laundry done, and they do a fine job, so in the future it may be essential. Nice to know it is available.

Larry I goofed. I do not have an Ipad.....I have a lap top, and it is a bit cumbersome, but worth the need when I had to be bed ridden. I think the Ipad is not as "viewable" as these ancient eyes require.

I have to scoot and get ready for Bible Study. See you later. June

Good afternoon, still on the cool side, but it is NOv. Suppose to have rain again to night and to morrow.

Gloria, I think the sun shone for half hour and then was gone and we are back to a cloudy day.  Looks like rain any min.

Bubble, thanks for lovely graphic and funny joke.

Joan, so sorry you had a bad night, and the ambulance had to be called.  Prays are going your way.

Hal hope you keep feeling better.

Larry enjoy your dinner.  so glad you are near your son and g.daughter.

Jane, good lucky with your customers , I am sure every one had a smile for you.

Amy, they say we might have snow for Thanksgiving.

Carol, I have had fun doing my own ancestry, It took me about 6 months getting together just about every thing on g.fathers  ,I went back to 1742 on my mother side of the family.   It is hard when you start checking g.mothers, as they alway had two name, maiden name and married name. I made up 3 ancestry books with pictures  one for each g.child. After the first one it was easy just to copy the pages for the other two.

I went down for lunch after our Bible study, which was great. Our new Pastor led us and he really knows his Bible. I really like him. Came home from lunch and just plopped down in the recliner, opened a book, closed my eyes and woke up two hours later. I have been sleepy ever since. Did go down for a walk, now I will have some supper at home, and off to an early bed.

Hope all went well with Hal's Dr. appt. and was hoping to see something more from our Bis. I pray she did not have to be hospitalized.

Gloria de, I am so proud of you for doing your ancestry. I had a book done by a lady in Utah, but it wasn't exact. I have only done some history on my background in case my kids are ever interested...no book, just a history I left on the computer.

We are having Choir practice for our Christmas program tomorrow....I hope I have more energy by then. Right now i'm going to have a light supper and off to bed and book.

Well my doctors appointment went well, I guess.  My PB was where he wanted it and we talked, he ask questions, I answered them, he order more blood work and wants me back in a month.  I suspect that the blood test are going to be part of my future visits.  He also ordered me to use the water pills twice a week.  My ankles were pretty swollen.

Joanie, I hope you are feeling much better, lets us know your status, please.

Our weather here is like spring time.  nice and warm and a very pleasant breeze with sunshine.  Suppose to change on Sunday.  Rain, breezy and some rain and about 40 degrees cooler.

June my bible study in the morning, so I am ready for bed.  Looking forward to seeing all my friends and hearing all the latest.

Nite, nite, God Bless and sweet dreams.

Hall I was just reading your report on your doctor visit. I take the Lackeys, two in the morning and one in the evening.not fun, I seam to expel more water than I intake and legs still swell, But V A measured my legs from the knee down and fitted some wraps that fit and covers all the lower leg and foot ( one for each leg) you do one leg at a time eight hours apart. that is taking care of the swelling beater. you might talk to your doctor about that. legs hurt less also and the treatment feels good. Have a great day if you like you can catch me on skype and talk further about it.

Good morning everyone...

Rained here over night and it looks as though we may get more. House hold chores to do and make a pot of beef barley soup today.

Larry, sorry I forgot to answer you on the blister packs, with hubby taking so many meds it is easier to make sure they are done right. I agree with them being hard to open,I have no problem   but hubby uses scissors to open them.

Gloria de, hope you don't get a lot of snow.

June, like you I would also love a Jeep but it is not practical with the two dogs...

Jane, did you find your glasses?

Gloria, when I look back at all I did on the farm and what I can do now makes me wonder how I did it. Was nothing to throw a bag of grain/feed over my shoulder and take it to the other end of the barn.If I tried that now I would go asters over tea kettle!!

Hal, great you had a good bp reading..enjoy your bible study today.

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning Everyfriend.

Amy, it rained here overnight too.  And the temp was in the 40s when I got up at six a.m.  Right now the sun is shining.

I didn't find my computer glasses but I bought a new pair at WM Vision center yesterday so I feel confident they'll turn up today.

I'm going to have to get off the computer, get dressed and get busy pretty soon.  I wish you all a happy day.

Hi Everyone. It is a beautiful, sunny and chilly Thursday morning.  This is the day we have been waiting for that Pat will get the shot at the pain clinic to try to help her back pains.  After I get her home I plan on going over to Walmart to pick up a prescription for her and to get a few other things.  That will likely pretty much be it for the day.

We had big crowd and a nice program in honor of our veterans from the spinal center and the veterans in attendance at the special Thanksgiving Dinner last evening at Church.  There were 7 disabled veterans and a nurse or aid for each one in at the dinner.  The ladies with the special comfort dogs were also in attendance and the dogs were a big hit with the kids and the adults alike.  The cooks had prepared a beautiful and delicious Thanksgiving meal of turkey and dressing with gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, cheese and broccoli and dinner rolls.  Finally the meal was ended with a little slice of pumpkin pie.

Callie, Pat and I both have dark glasses that will fit over our regular glasses.  I am trying to adjust to not wearing glasses as the ones I now have aren't working well except for very close up work.  I am coming to the conclusion that once I get the other cataract off I won't need them for computer work or distance seeing but just for close up reading. I guess grocery stores have to make choices on what items they have space to shelve and sell.  However, I am surprised about the orange marmalade.

June, I didn't remember whether you had an iPad or not but knew you have the laptop.  I see you had a good Bible study.  Do you stash sleeping potion in those books that will put you to sleep when you open the books.  :)

Don, I hope you had a nice day yesterday and today will be even better for you.

deAngel, as I described above we did have an enjoyable and delicious dinner last night.  I guess it is getting that time of the year when you all can expect some snow up your way.  It seems every year snow somewhere snarls the air and road traffic.

Hal, it sounds like your doctor's appointment went well.  It seems that doctor's very much rely on blood tests anymore.  I am going to have to miss our Wisdom group with our Pastor this morning as must take Pat for her appointment.  I haven't been to the group for several weeks and it won't meet again next week since that is Thanksgiving.

Lloyd, I have worn support stockings for quite awhile and it really helps keep down the swelling in my legs and feet.  However, I haven't been able to wear them the last five weeks or so due to the toenail removals and usually have swollen legs and ankles by night time.  However, I keep my feet elevated a little as I sleep and the swelling is down by morning.

Amy, I understand your husband using the scissors to open those blister packs of medication.  Right now I don't get any of my medications in those packs, for which I am thankful.

Jane, we had a lower early morning temperature than you did as it was 38 degrees at 7 am.  We will get into the 60's this afternoon.  I expect your glasses will appear now that you replaced them.

Lloyd Hammond

Larry I know I am dutchey but what I am wearing are not stocken's, they are
more like a quilt with Velcro on the one edge, and have two hoses cumming out of the tow aria and the hook up to a pump. you wrap it all around the foot and
lower leg from the knee down. the pump has a timer on it runs for 30 minutes.
you do one leg at a time 8 hours apart. it dose a circle like presser from the tow
close together to the knee repeating for 30 minutes. (feels good ) and is helping the swelling. it is pumping the blood up through your heart.

Lloyd

Gloria

Good morning everyone, raining again with thunderstorms in the forecast with wind and possible power outage. At least yesterday was nice and sunny.

JANE  I have had computer glasses for years it seems andoften forgot I had them on and even drove with them on. At times I think they are better than my bifocals.

HAL  Once visiting my daughter her FIL took us over the border into Tiajuana, amother time we visited a niece and her husband in Calais, Maine and they took us over the border into Canada. Only times I went out of the USA.

MARY ANN  I seldom watch CBS news so I never saw what you talked about. Hope I remember tomorrow to turn that on. Charles Kuralt also wrote at least 1 book about the people he met.

Shot post today.

Gloria, Steve Hartman is the man who does On the Road now.  I don't watch news myself, but I do watch the end of the CBS news at 5 to 7 to see what they feature and it leads into Wheel of Fortune.  If I didn't watch Wheel, I'd never know about Steve Hartman and the other people featured in that five minute segment.

I just looked at Grand Haven and saw at least five people in the water wearing body suits which protect them from the cold water and they are surfing.  Whitecaps are out to the outer lighthouse building.  I think the air temperature is about 40 degrees or less.  (Checked air temp is 38 degrees, water 46 degrees.  Brr.)

Hal, I like your Doctor. He is interested, and asks questions. I always look forward to Bible study too. Our Pastor did a great job yesterday. I still don''t know who "the disciple Jesus loved" was, do you ? And where does it tell us that ?

Amy, I have never even ridden in a Jeep…I like them because they were made for the Service men, so figure they must be safe and strong. Is it the distance for getting in and out that the dogs couldn't handle, or what ?

Janie, it is going to be a great day weather wise here.High of 80, but with some cloudiness, so it won't be too hot. I'm still get used to the change from desert weather to beach climates.

Hal, sleep comes very easily to me. I was up at six this morning, wide awake, so go sat in a nice warm shower. They have corner benches in our showers here, so you can stand or sit…today I just felt like sitting and let the water pour down from the top of my head to my toes. I enjoyed it. Then snuggled into a warm robe and did my prayer ritual, starting with my favorite.."Jesus Calling", then on to Max Lucado's " Grace for the Moment," then my Episcopal prayerbook for the prayers for the ill…and others, and last…a hymn….yep, I actually sit here in my Apt. and sing out loud…..then on to breakfast at home, and the news. By 10 o'clock, my eyes were growing heavy and I wanted to sleep, so instead a popped a protein drink open and came here.

Gloria, many trips to Tijuana…company always wanted to go there, and we had a lot of company, being the only family living in Ca. and one over night in Canada. I would have loved more and longer trips to Canada, but Ed wasn't interested.

Janie, I'll be delighted to have your weather, we are still way too dry out here in So. Ca.

My brain keeps repeating "sleep…sleep…….sleep ! I'll go  kick back in the recliner and see what happens.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Ok ok ..who is sending the snow this way?? Janie...is that you????

June, my son had two jeeps. I was in one and loved it....only thing wrong was I was in the passenger seat.....not the drivers seat :(

Lloyd, I had those type things when in the hospital after heart surgery.... they called them "boots"... and was to keep good circulation and one nurse said it helped keep blood clots from forming.  I hoped they would send them home with me because it was relaxing & I felt like they did good.  But, the nurse said they didn't because they were so expensive & guess Medicare & Blue Cross didn't think they were needed long term after heart surgery.  You are getting prime care at the VA.

I am so sleepy today I can't get moving.  Started out wrong when after eating breakfast I wanted a "Pop Tart"... & it fell through the slot in the toaster & slid on down to the bottom so no pulling it up & out.  Had to unplug & turn upside down & wait for it to cool enough to take a knife to help slide it past the little grippers that was supposed to hold it in place. By the time I got the Pop Tart out my coffee was cold again.  After cleaning that mess up & cats all fed, I went to dress for the day.  The door bell rang... the pump I ordered to winterize the pool had arrived & a man was at the door from the Gas company, to put in a new meter that can be read without coming to the house.  Since I have to let service guys in through the house or garage to the back yard (or unlock gates which is a lot more trouble) I opened the garage & walked him through & pointed where the meter is & came back inside to get shoes on (cold out).  Nice young man but he didn't have the logo of the gas company so after he left I called to make sure they actually sent someone out.... he was not going house to house.  As he left I saw the logo on his truck & was also not the gas company.  He was legit but just another time spent not doing the jobs planned.

Yesterday my daughter was to have hernia repair surgery... last surgery she thought "those rules" didn't apply to her & was picking up her grandbabies too soon.  Surgery scheduled for 6:00 am... moved to 1:00 pm & not started until 5:00 pm so she wasn't out of recovery until about 6:00.. and you know how it is when waiting for any surgery results, we're sure something went wrong when we don't get the call that all's well when expected.  I was no good all day, got a lot of jobs done just to keep busy, but was exhausted by the time she called last night to say she was home in "worst pain she's ever had"..... she's had her share of surgeries plus 4 kids... and is taking Tylenol 3 (since morphine doesn't work on her or her father & his mother).

Yesterday was the first day in ages that we had bright sun & could see how brilliant the trees in my front yard are. I kept grabbing the camera & running out because the sun shifted around & was prettier with every hour.  I will resize & post, surprising since everyone thought they were just dull & drab this year.  Surprise !

Bubble, if I haven't said it before, that is such a moving graphic with the erie eyes of that girl.... should say "haunting" eyes.  Thanks for pitching in.

Larry, I do hope the shot helps Pat.... my friend's husband here had that surgery for his back pain & was so pleased to finally be able to move pain free.

Amy, if we get any snow I'm keeping it!  My husband bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee... we took it & a Coleman camper to CO mountains to "4-wheel".  By the time we reached the western slopes to go up Engineer Mountain, it still had less than 1,000 miles on it & a novice driver.  All I could see was blue sky as we started up... no way to stop & turn around so had to go to the top to come back down.  I was hopping in & out to fill pot holes with rocks because they didn't look safe & on the way down I was sure the back would flip over the nose it was so straight up & down.  He got rid of it with less than 17,000 miles on it, 4 wheeling was not that fun! I know I would have been fearless if I'd be driving.... but Cas wasn't that dumb to ride shotgun & let me drive!   :dizzy: :dontknow:

Better get moving.  Hugs to all.... this feels like the best of all fall days... wish y'all could share it!  Shirley
