I have been in jeeps - and Shirley, there are places that even jeeps should not be going.

We signed on with an internet company and have had 4 days now of mostly no internet.  In and out - I told the young man he must want us to adopt him.  He is so nice - apparently, there will have to have a huge dig someday and I wish the company would just get on with it.

So many of my posts have not made it in here.

Shirley

Haha, Carol, when we pulled into a cove in the road to let an old Jeep pass going down, the couple got out & visited with us a few minutes... and shared a map they had on how to go a different direction when we got down.  They said the Jeep they were driving was rented, they had a new one they wouldn't take on that rough road & they had "done most of the 1400s".  We appreciated their advice & decided we were out of our league. Have you been up Engineer Mt?  Good luck with your internet problem, I have lousy service, this whole area does.

I posted 2 photos over in Photos Then & Now... of the trees looking out my kitchen window.  All of a sudden we have bright sun & the trees are brilliant colors.  Wish I had brought a link... really been a stressful 2 days.... hope you can find the photos.

I just finished 18 bags of PB saltines dipped in chocolate to be delivered to my niece to give to her friends for Christmas.  In exchange I get 8 bags of Starbucks Christmas blend coffee beans to share with my family.  We both count ourselves lucky.

Now I'm off to bed so...

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

I just got back from a very interesting prayer meeting, led by our new Pastor. Now it is time to get ready for bed. Have a blessed night dear friends. I love you all. June

Looking in and trying to find my last two posts.  They just do not seem to be here!

SHIRLEY, I had to chuckle at your tales about the jeeping days, and Engineer Mountain.  Funny memories.  I have done so many of those scary passes and have to say, I could never ever do them again.

My dad continues to have some medical issues that we all are concerned about.  Dr. Dave will talk to the urologist in Phoenix tomorrow and we hope that will help us understand what his options might be.  Son Brian and his wife Cathy are flying to Phoenix tomorrow and will go to see my dad tomorrow right after they land. They are there for the weekend to spend time with friends and to visit my dad, of course.  We are keeping Oliver The Doodle while they are away.

Hope you all are having a good night of rest.  Sweet dreams.

Good morning everyone.a very early on at that too!!

Dogs wanted out and there is not much sense in going back to bed. Have a fire on and my tea and will feed them in a bit. We are off to the city, a busy day of it too. Going to pick up some quilts, my supply is getting low , return a sweater, look for fleece pullovers for hubby and meet up with dd for lunch.

Shirley, I had to giggle at your adventure with the Jeep.

June, neither the dogs nor hubby would be able to get up in a Jeep. As it is Golden girl has trouble getting up in the van, she will put her front legs in and I lift the remaining up into the van. We do have a box/step for her to use but I don't always take it with us.

Jane, sounds like a great trade to me!! Did you get to taste test any before you bagged them up?

I feel this is going to be a long day...

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning Everyfriend!  My day started early too but it wasn't the dogs.  I put in a restless night.  I'm not sure what caused it but I must have been awake 6 times.  I finally just got up and started my day.

AMY, there are always samples to tempt me but this year I made some that are just for me.  made with crunchy PB and coated with dark chocolate.  I'll stick some in the hidey hole.  This weekend I plan to finish the PB saktines and have most of them packed for delivery.  After that, I start the pb cups and the coconut cups.  Then the odds and ends for special requests.  I also do oven roasted salted peanuts but the have to wait a while so they're fresh.

Today I'm off to Wally World.  Wish me smiles!

One thing or another.

We have a leaky toilet - the water bill is over the top.  These toilets sit right under extended counters and now a plumber will have to help us for something we usually do ourselves.  In other words, there is no clearance to work on the thing.  How stupid is that?

Off to a good start this morning. Need to straighten up and give thanks for all.

Jenny:  I have heard the name of Engineering Mountain but no, I am not fond of driving on the edge of a cliff.  Our son who lives behind us bought a beautiful old jeep and it is a show one - he loves it and everyone looks at it wants to buy it.  He likes to work on cars trucks as a hobby.

Jane:  I hope you can catch a little nap.  Your chocolate peanut butter snacks would go over good with my children.

Daughter sent a photo on Faceb..k of her anniversary night.  Dinner and an Avalanche game.  Her favorite game is hockey.  That comes from my letting her play hockey with neighbor boys in Minnesota. Now, she has a hockey outfit and plays with a group of adults.  Such a competitive girl!

This is into the 2nd. month of temperatures at record-setting new highs.  Nights are cold in the desert but afternoons are still pushing 90 degrees.  It looks like normal is in sight at the end of next week.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, rain is gone but now the wind is back. The cold temperatures I can take but we have had more rain and wid than any other November according to what I hear on TV.

MARY ANN  I usually watch NBC for local news, like the news staff better. At the shore here you can see surfers with their wetsuits on surfing when it gets cold. Crazy.

JANE  like you I am tired of this crazy weather this year. As long as I have warm clothes I can take the winter cold but all this rain and wind is horrible.

AMY  I made some chicken soup for my supper last night and it hit the spot.

JUNE  I really had no interest for going into Mexico but my DIL was all for it. I was interested in seeing my daughter and her family not in sight seeing.

SHIRLEY  looks like that big house and the pool keep you busy. Glad you can still do it all. Only thing I co good these days is sitting or laying down. Disgusted with myself. You would have liked going "off roading" with my SIL. He tried talking me into a ride in the back country where they lived and I declined.

CAROL  since my daughter moved near Kingman they have the dish for reception. Not always that clear but they are off the grid and the only thing they can get.

Hi Everyone. Again we have a beautiful morning and will be seeing the mid-60's today.  The housekeeper called last night and said it would be around noon before she could get here today rather than around 10 am as normal.  So I will have an unhurried morning and then plan on making a short trip to Aldi's for some vegetables and eggs and then make the circle from downtown over to Augusta and up the Riverwatch Parkway and make a brief stop at Costco for two or three items.  I will probably get one of their inexpensive lunches while there unless Pat feels up to going out to eat later this afternoon.

Yesterday she had two shots in her back, not the spine but in nerves connected to the spine.  She seems to be feeling pretty good this morning.  However, I prepared her breakfast as would like for her to stay feeling better and not overdo so she gives the shots time to work.  I have nothing else on the schedule for today.

Lloyd, I have seen something similar that they used on my daughter several times.  I went through two 35 treatments of something called EECP where both my legs were wrapped and on the off beat of the heart they quickly inflated.  It was to try to increase the blood flow through the heart.  The first series helped for quite awhile but didn't have as good of results after the second series in terms of feeling better.  I hope your treatments work well and the swelling is reduced.

Gloria, sure hope you didn't experience any power outages yesterday. I don't think I am going to need computer glasses as can now work the computer without glasses and have had only one eye fixed. I am surprised that the Dish reception for your daughter isn't good.  We have had Dish for many years and the reception is great unless there is a storm which interferes with the signal.  Now with DVR recording of programs there is always something to watch even if the satellite reception is interfered with.

Mary Ann, I am looking forward to Jeopardy tonight as it is the final night of the Tournament of Champions.  They didn't do very well last evening and none of them ended up with much money.  Of course they are guaranteed a fixed amount tonight based on where they place. That Austin is a real character.

Jane, I would send you some of our nice weather if I could.  That sounds like a nice exchange with your niece for Christmas giving.

June, I have ridden in a Jeep when I was young and they certainly were not built for comfort.  I am sure those today are much more comfortable.  You have a nice morning routine.

Amy, I expect a Jeep or any four-wheeled vehicle would work well during your winter months and the snow up your way.  Our car has bucket type seats that are not real easy to get out of.  We do have one of those tools that you put in the door latch to get more leverage and that helps Pat a lot.

Shirley, it sounds like you just were not met to have that Pop Tart yesterday. The gas company must have been using a contractor.  Had you been notified to expect someone to come and change out the meter?  Sorry to hear your daughter was having such pain and hope she feels better today.  Our trees are very pretty this year as well as the leaves change color.  However, it won't be long before the leaves are gone.  Speaking of Bubble's graphic, I heard on the news yesterday that the deVinci painting sold at auction for $450 million dollars to an unidentified buyer.  The surgeon told my wife that back surgery probably would not solve her back pain problems.  I sure wouldn't have wanted to be a passenger or driver of that Jeep up and down that mountain you described.

Jenny, sorry to read that your Dad is having problems but at least you have a doctor in the family that can get more information as well as a first hand report from your other son.

larryhanna

I got this from Paul Harbach yesterday and he suggested I share it with you all.  I had read it before but it is well worth a reread as we think about our veterans:

SIX BOYS, 13 HANDS - A TRUE STORY FROM A TEACHER

Each year I am hired to go to Washington, DC, with the 8th grade class from Clinton, WI. This trip was especially memorable.

We stopped at the Iwo Jima memorial. This memorial is the largest bronze statue in the world and depicts one of the most famous photographs in history -- that of the six brave soldiers raising the American Flag at the top of a rocky hill on the island of Iwo Jima, Japan, during WW II

I noticed a solitary figure at the base of the statue, and as I got closer, he asked, "Where are you guys from?'"

I told him that we were from Wisconsin.
"Hey, I'm a cheese head, too! Come gather around, Cheese heads, and I will tell you a story."

(It was James Bradley) who just happened to be in Washington, DC, to speak at the memorial the following day. He was there that night to say good night to his dad, who had passed away. He was just about to leave when he saw the buses pull up. I videotaped him as he spoke to us, and received his permission to share what he said from my videotape. It is one thing to tour the incredible monuments filled with history in Washington, DC, but it is quite another to get the kind of insight we received that night.)

When all had gathered around, he reverently began to speak. (Here are his words that night.)

'My name is James Bradley and I'm from Antigo, Wisconsin. My dad is on that statue, and I wrote a book called 'Flags of Our Fathers'. It is the story of the six boys you see behind me.

'Six boys raised the flag. The first guy putting the pole in the ground is Harlon Block. Harlon was an all-state football player. He enlisted in the Marine Corps with all the senior members of his football team. They were off to play another type of game. A game called 'War.' But it didn't turn out to be a game. Harlon, at the age of 21, died with his intestines in his hands. I don't say that to gross you out, I say that because there are people who stand in front of this statue and talk about the glory of war. You guys need to know that most of the boys in Iwo Jima were 17, 18, and 19 years old - and it was so hard that the ones who did make it home never even would talk to their families about it.

(He pointed to the statue) 'You see this next guy? That's Rene Gagnon from   New Hampshire.  If you took Rene's helmet off at the moment this photo was taken and looked in the webbing of that helmet, you would find a photograph of his girlfriend Rene put that in there for protection because he was scared. He was 18 years old. It was just boys who won the   battle of Iwo Jima. Boys. Not old men.

'The next guy here, the third guy in this tableau, was Sergeant Mike Strank ... (from Johnstown, PA).  Mike is my hero. He was the hero of all these guys. They called him the 'old man' because he was so old. He was already 24. When Mike would motivate his boys in training camp, he didn't say, 'Let's go kill some Japanese' or 'Let's die for our country' He knew he was talking to little boys. Instead he would say, 'You do what I say, and I'll get you home to your mothers.'

'The last guy on this side of the statue is Ira Hayes, a Pima Indian from Arizona. Ira Hayes was one of them who lived to walk off Iwo Jima. He went into the White House with my dad. President Truman told him, 'You're a hero' He told reporters, 'How can I feel like a hero when 250 of my buddies hit the island with me and only 27 of us walked off alive?'

So   you take your class at school, 250 of you spending a year together having fun, doing everything together. Then all 250 of you hit the beach, but only 27 of your classmates walk off alive. That was Ira Hayes. He had images of horror in his mind. Ira Hayes carried the pain home with him and eventually died dead drunk, face down, drowned in a very shallow puddle, at the age of 32 (ten years after this picture was taken).

'The next guy, going around the statue, is Franklin Sousley from Hilltop, Kentucky. A fun-lovin' hillbilly boy. His best friend, who is now 70, told me, 'Yeah, you know, we took two cows up on the porch of the Hilltop General Store. Then we strung wire across the stairs so the cows couldn't get down. Then we fed them Epsom salts. Those cows crapped all night.' Yes, he was a fun-lovin' hillbilly boy. Franklin died on Iwo Jima at the age of 19.  When the telegram came to tell his mother that he was dead, it went to the Hilltop General Store. A barefoot boy ran that telegram up to his mother's farm. The neighbors could hear her scream all night and into the morning. Those neighbors lived a quarter of a mile away.

'The next guy, as we continue to go around the statue, is my dad, John Bradley, from Antigo, Wisconsin, where I was raised. My dad lived until 1994, but he would never give interviews.

When Walter Cronkite's producers or the New York Times would call, we were trained as little kids to say 'No, I'm sorry, sir, my dad's not here. He is in Canada fishing. No, there is no phone there, sir. No, we don't know when he is coming back.' My dad never fished or even went to Canada. Usually, he was sitting there right at the table eating his Campbell's soup. But we had to tell the press that he was out fishing. He didn't want to talk to the press.

'You see, like Ira Hayes, my dad didn't see himself as a hero. Everyone thinks these guys are heroes, 'cause they are in a photo and on a monument. My dad knew better. He was a medic. John Bradley from Wisconsin was a combat caregiver. On Iwo Jima he probably held over 200 boys as they died. And when boys died on Iwo Jima, they writhed and screamed, without any medication or help with the pain.

'When I was a little boy, my third grade teacher told me that my dad was a hero When I went home and told my dad that, he looked at me and said, 'I want you always to remember that the heroes of Iwo Jima are the guys who did not come back. Did NOT come back.'

'So   that's the story about six nice young boys. Three died on Iwo Jima, and three came back as national heroes. Overall, 7,000 boys died on Iwo Jima in the worst battle in the history of the Marine Corps. My voice is giving out, so I will end here. Thank you for your time.'

Suddenly, the monument wasn't just a big old piece of metal with a flag sticking out of the top. It came to life before our eyes with the heartfelt words of a son who did indeed have a father who was a hero. Maybe not a hero for the reasons most people would believe, but a hero nonetheless.

One thing I learned while on tour with my 8th grade students in DC that is not mentioned here is, that if you look at the statue very closely and count the number of 'hands' raising the flag, there are 13. When the man who made the statue was asked why there were 13, he simply said the  13th hand was the hand of God.

Mary Ann

I hate to follow Larry's last post with something about Jeopardy, but there is nothing after his post to use as a buffer.  I do think I've read that piece before and it is very sobering.

As to Jeopardy, I am anxious to watch it too.  Did you get the time that Alex told that Buzzy's given name is also Austin?  So all three have names that begin with the letter "A".

Denver

Good morning.  Another Friday has rolled around once again!  Where do the days and weeks go?

LARRY, I enjoyed reading the Iwo Jima Memoral story, and thank you for sharing it.  How nice of Paul to suggest that you share it with us.  I hope that the shots that Pat received yesterday will give her good relief from the back pain.

CAROL, I have a cousin and her husband that both play on a hockey team......I wonder if they might know each other?  Cousin lives in Eaton and I believe the team plays in Ft. Collins.  Is your toilet one of the ones that come out of the wall?  That is what ours were in Sun City, and you are correct they are nearly impossible to work on😩

SHIRLEY, I do hope your daughter is feeling better this morning.  How stressful for all to have to wait that long for a surgery to get started.  That was crazy!  We, too, owned a Grand Jeep Cherokee, however I would not take mine off road as I did not want it to get scratched!  When my family belonged to a Jeep club and we did all the high mountain trips back in the late 50’s and 60’s we had one of the Army Jeeps with a full metal cab....no seats in the back, so my brother and I just sat on the wheel covers facing each other.  Then we got a new Jeep that had a back seat and it had a soft top on it.  I learned to drive in that Jeep, and the stick was so short it was as hard as could be to shift it.  They were fun times with lots of memories.....but there is no way I would ever do it now.  My youngest son and his wife have done a lot of jeeping over the years.  He now drives a Toyota Land Cruiser with all the professional skid plates on it, etc.  iMHO, that thing is just too wide to be on those narrow paths, but he does them with confidence and feels that it is safe!

I wish you ALL a good day.

Jenny

Shirley

Jenny, the "jeeping" i did in CO was with a friend that moved from Wichita, our husbands worked for different companies but similar jobs.  They were the type that did everything for their kids, including hiking the top of all those mts & since she was a silversmith & gemologist, knew where all the fun rock hunting was... and had the Land Cruiser to get to the top.  She was experienced so when she told us to "lean into the mountain" because the road was washed out, we (my 2 kids & her 3) leaned!

Cas went with the boys & me a few times but disliked everything about camping, the mountains and bear country, so this friend & I started meeting at the campground once a year.  I paid for her gas & most of the food we ate at camp and always paid for a big meal when we came to a town.  Lots of fun times Like you, I have no desire to do the tops anymore.  We rented the 4 wheelers in St.Elmo a few times, Andy drove or we'd still be going around & around.... I have no sense of direction & even when I know where I'm going, I keep a hand held GPS I can reach in case I miss a turn.

Had a note from my daughter, she is doing much better today.  I picked up 2 huge bags of leaves this morning, ran the vac in the pool but kind of a lost cause... MY tree in the back is dumping leaves like rain.  Plugged the RV in to see if the antenna wire is loose or if it was a bad day when I tried it before.  Seems fine, plenty of stations to watch but a couple channels I like would need me to raise the antenna & turn & I didn't want to bother.  Still have errands to run so better move along. Can you believe it is Friday again?  Heavens to Betsy, where did the week go?

Larry, I had read that years ago but was like reading it for the first time.  With my 2 oldest brothers in so young, I can relate to the author... and could not stop the tears again. The oldest brother in the Air Corp, shot down over the Danube & in a German POW camp the last 9 months of the war, could never talk about it casually but bits & pieces came out of the horror in his memory.  Thanks to Paul for bringing it back, should be a must read for every high school student.

June Drabek

Good Morning , dear hearts and gentle people. I had my first nurse's call at 6 a.m. and since today was cleaning day, I go up and prepared the place for "deep" cleaning, which happens twice a month…that means not just clean linens, and bathroom cleaning, but vacuuming, dusting, and the necessity for me to clean off all the accumulation of paper work on my computer desk and other flat surfaces. which has now, at 11 a.m. been accomplished. The rest of the day is mine.

Jenny, it sounds like you and hubby are the official "animal control" when the two legged grown kids need help. I have said a prayer for your Dad.

Amy, I no longer operate a car, and I never did have the opportunity to ride in a Jeep, and would need help boarding one now. I just like the "idea" of having one. For the  younger generations safety, they just seem, to me, the most sensible mode of transportation now. I have to laugh at the auto design now. Sports cars and most sedans are built so low to the ground that we oldsters have difficulty lowering ourselves to the seat. and need a crane to lift us up and out of the things. Style is not necessarily sensible.

Janie, I wish you many, many smiles, and I feel you get many, as you give many. God Bless you whole day.

Carol, the toilet was built under a counter in the last place I lived..but it was a rental, so not my problem. A dumb design indeed.

Gloria, we had a very light rain this morning, just enough to make a few light puddles, but it does make the air feel more clear…like dusting the furniture. With all the out of state company we had in those days, they loved going to Tijuana. Ed and I got sick of it, except for the Tecate beer and lunch, and the Churros we ate on the way home.

Larry, and Paul Harbach. I thank you. I will always see the Raising of the Flag at Iwo Jima with new clear eyes now. When will we ever learn? How many wars and how many deaths does it take for us to learn to live in Peace with the world. ? Thank you Paul and Larry.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Hello,

Shirley, your Jeep story reminded me of our days in Leadville.  We moved there in 1964 andDavid soon bought a Jeep (may have been an Army "left-over").  It was not in "pristine" condition.   ;)
I can still see him shutting the door by making a quick U-turn in front of our house to head to the high school.  He put a towel rack on the passenger side so I'd have something to hang onto when we went exploring.

In the early 70's, he sold it and bought a Bronco.   By that time, the boys were old enough to go exploring and they both have fond memories of doing so.   David traded the Bronco for a friend's pickup when we moved to Oklahoma in 1977.
Two years ago,  #2 son learned that the friend's son still had the Bronco - bought it and had it brought to Oklahoma.  He has brought it back to driveable condition but I don't think he's driven it very much.  I've been in it once - and that's enough.  ;D
Apparently, that model is considered a Classic and he has had several very generous offers to buy it.
I didn't realize he was so sentimental about the Bronco but it's a very special remembrance of his Dad and he wouldn't part with it for any amount of money.

I've made the Martha Washington candy mix to keep in the fridge so I can make balls/dip in chocolate when I need some.
Have one other project I want to do today and then plan to become a Recliner Radish with some e-books on my Tablet.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

halkel

Hi Everyone, just now got around to looking in to see what is going on.  I too had a very bad night and was up from about 3 onward, finally got up around 7 and started my day.  Wife had an early appointment at 9 and I got myself cleaned up and went to the barber shop and when I came out I checked in at the nail shop next door and they were all sitting around so I got myself a pedicure,  guess you can say I was groomed from head to toe.

It is another spring day here, suppose to get up to around 80 and lots of sunshine but we are due a cold front tonight which should bring temps down but not freezing.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

June Drabek

Hal, you should feel fresh and new with the trimmings you had done. I wore myself out putting together my new lynx vacuum cleaner.I'm very proud of my work, and the new battery is still charging. It takes a lithium battery so there is no cord to trip me up. My housekeeper vacuums  every two weeks but i need small cleanups every now and then and the Lynx is a neat little helper. I am pooped though. I think it is time for a nice nap.....
As long as we are here, let's dance.

The nap didn't happen. Mind was too busy so I had to keep checking out my intallations of the Lynx. I will not be content till Gary checks out my work. I have been home all day, so will go down and check out my mail box after I have some supper at home. I'm anxious to see how our Bis is doing. I didn't see a green post today, did any of you ?

I did have lots of smiles and at one point, I looked up and there was an old friend that I have not seen for some time.  Our kids began nursery school together and graduated high school together so we've known one anthoer for a long time.

Tonight I almost finished the chocolate, coated peanut butter saltines.  I have 30 Christmas bags ready for delivery and about half as many as I need to share with the cashiers.  This weekend I'm going to get a start on the pb cups and coconut cups.

Now I'm going to take the doggies out, get something to drink and go to bed sooooooo...

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

I am off for bed and book, and I wish you all a perfect night. God is watching over us all, thanks be to God. Hugs and Love. June

Good morning everyone, boy are my sleep pattern is messed up. Either I am awake most of the night and sleep late or I get sleepy early and am awake early. Oh well at least I get 7 hours most nights. Local weather morning forecast calls for cold and very windy again. Gosh is this March? Thought that was supposed to be the widy month.

LARRY  I hope those shots help Pat.  They never did me any good. Could be because where my daughter lives now in the mountains in the middle of nowhere it is hard to get signals. They are supposed to upgrade the system so hopefully it will improve. Last night I was hoping Austin would win on Jepardy, I liked him. The one who came in third I liked but not the winner. He looked like he was too full of himself. My daughter is now the owner of a Jeep. Where they live it makes more sense. My SIL and oldest grandson both like offroading but she said they will not use HER Jeep for that. I have read about that 13th hand before and is brought tears to my eyes again.

JENNY  growing up here with no mountains around the first time I went up a mountain I was scared stiff.

SHIRLEY  when my daughter and family took me to Arizona and on some of the mountain roads I found myself leaning toward the mountain side and my SIL laughed and asked if I was trying to keep the truck on the road by leaning toward him. I had not realized I was doing that.

JUNE  many years ago we had a Jeep Wagoneer. It was built for a man and not for a shorty like me. I needed a pillos in back of me to sit close enough to the steering wheel and no power steering back then and boy did my arms ache after driving it. Like you I can no longer get into a van or anything high.

CALLIE  my SIL has an old Bronco that he restored, it is now with them in Arizona but they seldom use it now.

HAL  so now you are groomed from head to toe, going to make the ladies swoon with your good looks?

JANE  will you take my order for coconut cups? I love coconut. Would like that recipe but don't think I would be able to make anything these days.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

Not a nice day out there this morning, freezing rain here! We had a great time yesterday, had lunch with dd and g/son, thoroughly enjoyed the day.

No hanging laundry out today,

Jane all your goodies sound delicious!! Lot of hard work and love went into them.

June, way to go on putting your Lynx together and I would think it would be done right. You are an amazing lady!!

Gloria, we have a box so Golden girl can get into the van.If I don't take it and she needs to get back into the van she puts her front paws in and I lift the rest. This is an 80 + lb dog here.

Better put an egg in my boot and beat it....slept in this morning..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Saturday Morning !

Kind of gray-looking out my window this morning.  Lots of wind and gray skies.  Looks almost like snow clouds.  I think I heard where up in the Western Maryland mountains they may have some snow this evening.  I am just not ready for any snow at all !!!

Jane, your PN butter crackers sound good.  Do you just make a pn butter "sandwich" with the saltines and then dip them in the chocolate.  Do you use the little round disks of chocolate for dipping?  I might try to make some of those.  I have made the chocolate covered Ritz crackers with some peppermint flavoring in the chocolate.  They taste a lot like the Girl Scout Mint Cookies.  That recipe has been around for a long time.

I have an on-line order ready to ask my son or DIL to pick it up.  Not near as big as I have been getting.  I just needed some extra things to make up for Thanksgiving.  I am supposed to go to my grand-son's, but not sure if I will go.  I have been fighting a UTI now for a couple weeks and the meds don't seem to be working too good.  I feel ok one day, and then not so good, the next.   So, just depends on how I feel !  I hope I can make it as I haven't seen a new great-grandson yet, and haven't seen the older girls for a while.

When I look out my window and see all the trees blowing, it looks like a good morning to go back to bed.  I think I will do what June likes to do......Curl up in my recliner and wrap a nice warm afghan all around me and hopefully, take a little nap.  I am not a morning person and it really just takes me sooooooo long to get going.

Hope everyone will have a great Saturday.

Good Morning Everyone!
Boy-o-boy, sounds like most of your folks Northeast of here are having some really nasty weather.  We are expecting a front through today but just windy, no really bad temps or rain.  But I would accept some rain, always.

Gloria, like you I hope Pat gets some relief with the shots.  They certainly didn't help me either and the procedure where they did the RF to the nerves didn't do much.

Joy, sorry you are having troubles.  Not a good time to have any problems but around this time of the year it seems to make you feel ever worst.

Amy, you and Janie are both amazing ladies.  Seems there isn't much you cant do and do it well.  At least your pup will put his paws up so you only got to lift his rear end.  My old pup, you got to pick him up and put her in the car.  So my wife and I share the chore.  Two old people and an old dog struggling, must be quite a sight.  My Lady face, ears and head is almost completely white.  She really isn't that old, about 12.  I swear the older she gets the more mellow and loving she is.

Janie, bet your house smells good.  And will till Christmas.  I would gain weight if I was around there.

Grandson is suppose to be in tomorrow late.  He is coming in to his head office, here in San Antonio, for a few days and then we are all headed to Del Rio on Wednesday for Thanksgiving.  We are taking some of our grandkids Christmas toys to them since we want see them Christmastime.

June, hope you have good day.  If I know you you will be out gallivanting hither and yon checking out this and that.  Got to admire you.  No grass grows under your feet.  You are quite a lady. Proud to know you.

Hi Everyone. Once again it is a beautiful fall day here in South Carolina and we will get into the 70's this afternoon.  There is not a cloud in the sky.  I did get to Costco and then on to Aldi's as planned yesterday.  The housekeeper didn't get here until after 1 pm but now we have a nice clean house.  The only think I plan on doing today is to go to a meeting this morning as haven't gone for a couple of weeks. We may go out to eat later today as Pat seems to be feeling better today.  I am hopeful the shots are helping.  She didn't need to use the walker to get from the bedroom to the family room this morning.  I did go ahead and fix her breakfast as want her to stay feeling as good as possible for as long as possible today.

Mary Ann, that was an interesting ending to the Jeopardy Tournament last evening.  It looked like the guy who ultimately won the big money was out of the running early in the evening when he lost everything.  That daily double really helped him comeback to win.  They certainly had a difficult final Jeopardy answer that none of them knew.  I thought Alex Trebek's comment about how much he had enjoyed the fun they had during the two weeks was interesting.  I did not pick up on the same name and thought that Buzzy was a strange name.

Jenny, so far so good with the shots that Pat had.  I don't think I realized that women played hockey as it is a really rough sport.  I have never really understood the game and never watched much of it.  It was not something played in the Midwest as I grew up. We never owned a Jeep and I certainly wouldn't care for the narrow paths to drive on.

Shirley, my uncle and aunt had a rock shop in Denver for many years and he made jewelry from the rocks he had harvested in various parts of the country.  I bet that "learning into the mountain" made a big difference.  :) I often wondered how I ever got around in the various cities we moved to in the days before the GPS.  Glad your daughter was doing better yesterday.  Certainly glad your brother survived the POW experience.  We have a man in our Sunday School class who suffers from PTSD from his experiences in Viet Nam.  My BIL was a marine in Nam and I have never heard him talk about it and never pressed him for any information.

June, it is nice to have everything cleaned at once isn't it.  I agree with you on sedans being built too low to the ground.  Sometimes it feels I am falling into the seat and then have difficulty getting out.  Pat especially experiences difficulty. I do not we will ever live in Peace in this world.  Aren't we thankful we have the promise in the Bible that our world to come will be a peaceful one.

Callie, what wonderful memories and how unusual for your son to find the vehicle you used to own.  Your son sounds like my son who rebuilt and old Datsun sports model and doesn't want to part with it.

Hal, so sorry to see you had a bad night on Thursday night and hope last night was better for you.

Jane, it must be nice to see old friends on occasion in your line at checkout.  I had to fight myself yesterday at Costco as I know they have the special chocolate peppermint bark.  I will probably give in and get a bag of it on my next visit as they only carry it at this time of the year.  I would also like to make some of the peanut clusters that are so easy in the crock pot and so good.  However, I don't need them nor does Pat and the recipe makes a big batch of them.

Gloria, I am glad you are getting some extended sleep when you do sleep.  I have been getting around nine hours on my CPAP machine with the oxygen added and think the oxygen is really helping as have been feeling good during the day.  The young fellow on Jeopardy was smart but sort of shot himself in the foot with the Double Jeopardy question that he missed.  I think Alex Trebek really enjoyed Austin.  Don't you wonder how we ever drove before the days of power steering and power brakes?

Amy, it sounds like this would be a good day to stay indoors and work on your quilts considering the freezing rain.

Joy, I think it is hard to beat chocolate covered pretzels as a nice sweet treat.  I hope you are feeling up to going to the Thanksgiving get together so you can see your new great grand and the other grandchildren.

Good morning Lloyd.

Mary Ann

Larry, at the start of Jeopardy last night I never would have thought that Buzzy would have won, but he is a daring person so bet everything late in the game and knew the answer.  I thought all three of the contestants were interesting.  And it was interesting that for the finals, Austin calmed down his appearance, but shaving off most of his facial hair and even taming his hair

Mention of rock shop, in his later years, my dad both collected and bought rocks to polish and make bolo ties as a hobby.  He wasn’t too good at it, but it kept him busy and he enjoyed it.  After he died, I gave his equipment to a man at work who played around with rocks, too.

Larry, I learned to drive with a stick shift and it wasn’t until my dad had a stroke that he consented to get an automatic drive.  One time when Tom first lived with me, he came home driving a Nissan with a manual transmission and he was going to a friend’s house and I would drive the Nissan back home.  It was only a few blocks, but many years since stick shift days.  When I got to the drive into our complex, I finally found the rhythm of the manual transmission.  And that was the last time I drove a stick shift and that was over 35 years ago.  Now you pay extra for manual transmission!
