Carol - nothing wrong with a "runaway" game, either - particularly if the "right team" is doing the running!

Oh, how I would love to go to the genealogy lectures and DNA classes with you.  #2 son and dil had their DNA done through Ancestory.   As I expected, son's was English, Scottish, "eastern European" (I think Germany) and Scandinavian.  I've always thought there was a Viking somewhere in my husband's paternal line. Would love to explore that but know from research experience that I'd have to be "on site" to trace even the original immigrant.

Very few at church here this morning - probably for the same reasons as others.   Five OTL ladies enjoyed good conversation at our favorite diner.  Everyone can relax; we have solutions for all the problems.   ;D

Church is over. The lady sitting next to me disappeared and left her purse behind, so I turned it in to another lady that will turn it in at the desk. i just hope Marilyn is O.K. she is a very responsible lady.
Gloria de. I will happy to join you at age 93 . I just wish you lived next door to me. We are so very well cared for here. I know you would love it here and I would love having you as my neighbor.

Enjoy your Taco meal Hal. I'm going back down for lunch now, then home to get in cozy clothes and read and nap...I love those naps. :smitten: :smitten:

Carol, I remember in my little town everything closed down on Sunday, except the Churches. No stores open at all.

Gloria, I think your daughter would prefer the cherry pie with a little bit of sugar.  The one I made that was so sour was where I forgot to put any sugar in it and there were some puckered mouths.  We seldom have desserts any more and I haven’t made a pie in ages.  Nor have I baked a cake, even from a box mix.  Old age is catching up with me.

Gloria, the way your son’s dog clung to you is kind of like Tom’s dog did to me.  She wouldn’t ask anyone else to take him for a walk, only me.

Jane, how nice that someone turned in your glasses.

Hal, we’re kind of in a transitional period at church since we have no senior minister, but today, with a guest minister and post holiday, we had a pretty good attendance.

June, remember the old days when no store was open on Sunday and even grocery stores closed at 6 pm (or so).  We took our list with us and told the clerk what we wanted and the clerk got the item from the shelf.  I do some impulse buying, but that was almost impossible in those days.  I feel sorry for the people who work on holidays, but I think they get double or triple pay and I know some of them need it.

Dot and I went to Mr Burger after church and she had an oliveburger and I had a regular hamburger.  We split a long John which was filled with marshmallow instead of lemon custard.

I don’t think I put it in here before,  but yesterday Tom, a friend and her son, went to the Gerald R Ford Presidential Museum here in Grand Rapids.  Tom got a wheelchair for me otherwise I would not have gone.  I have been there several times, but they change the displays often so everything was new.  Tom had not been there before and was impressed.

At 4:30 pm someone is flying a kite at Grand Haven.  There are quite a few whitecaps.

It's only six p.m. out here, but I really have nothing special to post so I will say an early goodnight, Put on my nighty, brush my teeth, remove my nitro patch and go read in bed. I picked up three more books today...just in case....like in case didn't feel up to going out.

Have a peaceful night my dear ones, and may you all wake in the morning in good health and happiness. May God  give our Bis the energy to pop in on us. I love you all. June

Good morning Everyfriend.  It's 31º and cloudy this morning and not a snowflake on the horizon.  This is getting to be my kind of day!  The bright sunshine is good if I don't have anywhere to go but it really annoys me if I have to drive in it. And sunglasses don't seem to help.

//////We have a pretty busy day coming up.  My cleaning dynamo comes at 1o.  I have to leave at 11 for a eye appointment.  Afer my appoint I'm picking up Kiran (no school today) for our annual shopping for Toys for Tots and lunch out.  This year we have an extra toy to by for local kids for a drive sponsored by the council of churches.  We have to pick out a Barbie doll and wrap it.  Then I'm going to involve her in the Senior Citizens gift sharing program.  They have a tree withe wishes for seniors and I think it's time she learns that others besides kids sometimes have unfulfilled wishes.

Then we're going to buy the stuff to make gumdrops and some of the goodies she likes when she comes here after school.

Oops, I forgot!  We're starting with lunch at McDonalds.  Busy day!

Good morning everyone..

We had about 1/2 inch of snow fall during the night..temp is 12° F at the moment...tad chilly!

Yesterday was interesting, I did manage to get a blueberry pie made and some pie shells for the freezer and if I didn't find a LOT of zzzz's and made good use of them. I had TWO cat naps, one before lunch and one in the afternoon. Managed to get a bit of sewing done but nothing like I had planned.

Taking hubby in today to the foot clinic then we are off to the Dr in a village outside of the city. If he feels up to it we will head on in 20 min drive and try to get more Christmas shopping done. We shall see.

Jane, sounds like a busy but fun day you are going to have.

Lloyd, hope your headache goes away..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Instant weather says it is 43 º and clear here headed for 69 º here. so I am planing a light feed and heading for the shop as soon as it is light enough to see where I am walking with out the lights on. need to get tires on tractor. Nancy fusses about a high light bill at the shop. the shop and the house have separate meters. seams she has one set of standards for me and the shop and another for her and light's in the house. she knows where the light switches are for on and not Off in the house. she won't go to shop says too much junk in the shop.
Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone!

Sounds like everyone has their day laid out.  Hope you all get it fited in.  I have a doctors appointment at 9:45 and hopefully he doesn't send me anywhere else.

It is cool out, Amy when I was in your country morings like yours were referred to as fresh.  But it will be nice and warm here later on.  a little warmer than what Lloyd is predicting.

We went over to my daughters last night for supper, finished up the ham she had for Thanksgiving and other odds and ends.  She fixed a couple of deep dish pies, peach and blackberry.

Janie we forgot to take an unwrapped toy to church yesterday but you could give money and let them buy one and that is what I did.  They wanted them unwrapped but I see that some wrapped theirs. One year I worked in the shop where the Mom picks the gifts for her kids and I was sorely disappointed in some of them, I think they thought they were entitled to the gifts.  The churches do have some great gifts for the kids, some very expensive.  Even bicycles.

Well coffee is ready, who wants to join me, and I need to get myself organized.  I had a pretty good night, didn't get up but once and only for a short while.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Carol

Learning to be charitable begins at home.  It is so sweet to read about your teachings to family members.  Thanks, Jane for your post.

Callie:  That would be so fun for you to be at the class.  I may certainly have Viking blood with all that Finnish/Swedish in me - plus northern UK/Ireland a bit.  A distant cousin showed me the river when the ancestors took their long boats and sailed from near their property.  I hope these 3 hour classes are good - It was $20 for the entire year and and extra $5 for 4 three-hour classes on DNA.

June:  Sundays in Colorado are days to look at cars on lots - no one can sell a car that day.  I hope it hasn't changed - because it is fun to just look.  Oh, well, they can buy their pot in bars now - Sunday or not they can smoke pot and drink and then get in the car and drive.

Mary Ann:  I always thought President Ford was a kind man - just the way he conducted himself.  We have been to LBJ's place and also the house Eisenhower lived in - it was quite small and all those boys!

Jane:  Driving into the sun is about impossible for me - sun glasses are not enough.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, a gloomy Monday here, cloudy and mid 30's, from what I just heard wind will pick up later. Oh well tis that time of year, expect to see snow in the air any day now. Not feeling like talking today, just thought I would catch up on yesterday's posts. Everything fine with me.

I think Lloyd said it was 41 degrees there, going up to 69 degrees.  It is also 41 degrees here, but there is no way we will get up to 69 degrees, 45 is more like it.  However, the sun is shining brightly, so it is a nice day!

Everyone's posts show you all to be so busy.  I don't call computing being busy, so I am not that busy so far.  I did print out something that Tom needed from my computer; he does have his own computer and printer, but this was something older that he needed.  He is gone until mid-afternoon now.  I will make out a grocery list so he can do the shopping today as we're running out of regular foods.

I have no appointments this week and if Tom doesn't have too much going, maybe we can contact Dot and Jan and get together at Jan's.  She can't leave her parents alone, so when we get together, we do there.  We order a pizza or Jimmy John's or Subway.  I'm not sure Subway delivers but the others do.

Carol, President Ford was a very kind man, very honest.  He was our Representative for many years before becoming Vice President, then President. His library is in Ann Arbor where he went to the U of Michigan.  We were pleased and honored to get the museum.  When he was in the House, my dad and Ford would communicate occasionally.  My dad was a scoutmaster and when the area scouts would get together at camp, Dad got to know him a bit.  Gerry Ford was also a Boy Scout.  Dad died before Ford became President.  I have seen no other Presidential museums and I know I won't because of my age and not traveling now.

Another day of no Bis/Joan. May God be with her.

Janie, you surely had a busy day planned. I hope it was all very enjoyable. Kiran is so blessed to have you available to her.

Hal, I am happy you had a better night last night, and hope you can repeat it from now on.

Carol, I think it is wise to not sell cars on Sundays. The companies save money on salesmen's salaries and folks can walk around and look at the merchandise without having to listen to a sales pitch. Cigarettes are over priced now so the users are probably turning to a worse thing……marijuana. I believe in the use of medical marijuana but it should only be available through a Drs. prescription. This has turned into an upside down purchasing world.

Gloria, we are having a variety of weather..none of it disastrous, thank God. The mornings are heavily clouded, with occasional sun break in, and today we had a cold west wind blowing, so walking the hallways was the best exercise.

I went down for a hearty lunch today so I will have a left over supper tonight. I did a lot of reading and napping this afternoon, and a lot of hall way walking. I went to the D building…three floorsl…..larger than my C building, and enjoy seeing the Chrismas decorations folks put on their doors. Then I came home and walked our three floors, so I had enough blood circulating.

Time to heat us some supper now…….
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Lloyd me too.  Bed time.

Doctors visit went well, I guess, gave me two more prescriptions, both not really drugs, one potassium, and cant remember the name of the other, but it is a supplement.  But I have to see him again next week, more blood work today, also next week.  At least no fasting.  I had lost 8 lbs from last visit, so he was happy that the water pills were doing their job.

Hope everyone's day went as planned.

Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday went well, Dr is sending hubby  for an ultra sound and the appointment is this Fri.  Hubby is also having a problem with one eye and the Dr is going to give it a few days to see if it clears up. By the time we got out of the Dr office, he doesn't rush you through, it was time to head home. Someone in the vehicle had cat naps all the way home and it wasn't me! :)

Hal, Chows are a lovely dog, neighbour has a chow x dane  big beautiful short coated dog with the chow tail and black spots on his tongue.
I hate the part of taking my dog for his last ride, I know also that they are our friends and when they are suffering, we do have to be there for them and take the suffering away.

Need to get a move on VON is coming this morning..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning Everyfriend.  We were up at the usual time this morning but I had things to do while we waited out the doggies pills. So I'm just getting here.  My eyes have cleared up and I can see as well as I did before I went to the dr. yesterday.

Still nothing from Joan.  I sure do miss her!

AMY, if someone catnapped on the way home, I'm glad it wasn't you because I rather suspect you were the driver.

Our shopping trip went well yesterday.  Kiran chose a Barbie and a two pack of Star Wars figures for Toys for Tots and then she picked a Barbie with a horse for the church 4 year old because "she'll have something to do with it and it's not just a Barbie sitting there."  I loved her thinking.  The tree for the Seniors wasn't there yet but we talked about it and I'm appointed to watch for it and when it's there we'll go and choose 2 because "we do a boy and a girl for Toys for Tots so we have to do a man and a lady for the seniors"  I LOVED IT!

Now I'm off to get ready to greet my public at Wally World.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

Hi Everyone. Another ditto day of the last few and we will see the 60's again this afternoon.  In about 90 minutes we will have to leave and go to the dentists office as Pat has a scheduled cleaning appointment.  Then we will come back by our Church for our Senior's Luncheon.  Today the senior member of the choir and our wonderful choir director and pianist will provide the entertainment with some Christmas music and leading the attendees in singing a few Christmas carols.

Yesterday didn't turn out anywhere as I had expected.  I took my car to the garage for an oil change and ended up being their for three hours and I had two new front tires, a brake light and the oil change done.  That is why I always dread taking my car in for service but it should provide us good transportation for the coming year.

Last night my friend picked me up and we went to our Men's meeting at the Church.  It was the best steak dinner I have ever had there.  The cook had prepared her Uncle Jack's mac and cheese and it was fresh out of the oven and very moist and good.  Our program was interesting as it was a 30 minute film made about the 7,000 person town of Ellington that had been taken by the Federal Government in 1950 so the Savannah River Site could be built for bomb making and other defense related work.  One of the men who was about 15 or 16 at the time was at the dinner and shared some information about the whole experience.  It was really quite interesting.

I had such a busy day yesterday that I never did get back to post again and I saw when I read the postings earlier in the morning that my long post from Sunday hadn't posted as I had hit the post button and got up and left for Church and didn't come back to my computer.  So today I will try to do better.

Mary Ann, I forgot above that as soon as I got home from the garage yesterday I took Pat to get her hair cut.  Right next door was a Jersey Mike's subs and I hadn't eaten lunch so went in and ordered a sub.  It was the worst sub I can remember having.  The bread wasn't fresh and it just wasn't good.  It is back to Firehouse subs for me.  I always liked President Ford.

Hal, hope the new prescriptions do their job and great that you were able to get those 8 pounds of fluid removed.

June, are there some very pretty Christmas decorations at people doors there?

Lloyd, Pat is putting in my eye drops.  I have done it a couple of times and the first time it went right down my cheek and then I thought I had found the solution and got it in fine.  The second time I must not have had my head tilted back far enough and wasted another drop.  So Pat has been helping me.  I am glad this won't be something I have to do permanently but probably for at least another month.

Amy, since you were driving it is good you said it wasn't you doing the cat napping.  :)  Hope your husband's eye situation clears up for him.

Jane, having the eyes dilated is no fun.  Whatever they used to dilate my eye for the cataract surgery lasted for over two days and not just a matter of hours.  I think that was the worst part of the surgery.  It sounds like you had fun shopping with Kiran. It sounds like Kiran is learning to think of others and that will serve her well throughout her life.  I hope you had a happy public at your register today.

Amy

Jane, sounds like Kiran is just like her Grammie..big heart!!
Yes, I did and do all the driving now. Have to stop in at the garage to see if they can put a driving light in for me.

Wood box filled, another load waiting to go and now waiting on VON.....wonder what trouble I can get into now? :)

Good morning everyone, 21° this morning but the sun is shining and the wind is calm at the moment. Finally getting more normal temperatures but that is not saying every welcomes it. My daughter and SIL are in Phoenix now. Tomorrow she will have surgery in a hospital there. The small hospital in Kingman does not do surgery. This is the first time she has had surgery and she sounds very calm about it. I am pretty worried and wish I could be there to help when they get home after.

JUNE  no matter how cold I like going outside if only for a few minutes. Walking the hallways I do not like, just a lot of closed doors.

JANE  love the way Kiran thinks of others at this time of year.

Better go get dressed for the day before my CNA gets here. I wish we would hear something from or about JOAN.

A new business was opening and one of the owner's friends wanted to send him flowers for the occasion.  They arrived at the new business site and the owner read the card, "Rest in Peace."

The owner was angry and called the florist to complain.

After he had told the florist of the obvious mistake and how angry he was, the florist replied,

"Sir, I'm really sorry for the mistake, but rather than getting angry, you should imagine this, 'Somewhere there is a funeral taking place today, and they have flowers with a note saying, 'Congratulations on your new location.'"

Good Morning Everyone!

Nice day out and warm already.  The weather guy last night was showing our below normal rainfall for the year, yeah, go ahead rub it in, I thought  We are powder dry.  Only rain that was in the positive was when hurricane came through.

I don't think I told you but we are getting the floor titled in the bath and it looks very nice, he is suppose to be back today to grout it and that will be that.  Now all the wife has to do is pick some new carpet for her and my bedroom.  She said she wasn't going to rush just to get it done before Christmas cause she wants to be sure, this time.  Last time she rushed and really never liked it from the start.

I was wondering, how many of you took advantage of cyber Monday, yesterday.  I looked at some things but didn't see anything I needed or wanted.

Everyone have a great day.
