My brain has been on vacation.....for years!  I'm sorry, Jenny, for being so late but it is still heart felt.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENNY!

I wasn't as successful at getting things done yesterday as some of you were.  I spent a long time sitting at the radiology center waiting to get x-rays done but it is done.  Now to wait on the results.

Consequently, I didn't get soup made but did get a big pot of spaghetti made for dinner and for a couple of leftover meals.  Your fridge is packed with some really good sounding things, Tome.  I love Southwestern food but find, to my dismay, that I can no longer tolerate very much of it.

Breakfast is calling.  Take care, All.

Good morning everyone, slept late again and I have  to rush. Finally have an appointment  with my eye doctor that was cancelled in April. My son will be picking me up in 2 hours and I need my breakfast before I go and a shower, too.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning, everyone from the Interior, where it is plus 38 with light snow. Tomorrow is expected to be six above and Friday, minus seventeen. The next two weeks are forecast to be moving back and forth between pluses and minuses weatherwise. There is no way I could confidently say what will or will not be; nothing about this year is as expected other than expecting the unexpected.

I hope everyone is having a good day and a better tomorrow, and thank you, Jane, for the delicious soup from the hideyhole!

Be safe everyone!

Amy

Patricia, you are warmer there than here!! The temp is 26° F here at the moment.

My balcony thermometer reads presently at plus 40. We have chinook winds, which always brings warm temperatures.

Hello friends; I spoke briefly with Bubble who wanted me to assure you she is alive and well.  Severe flooding in Israel has seriously impacted their internet service but it should be ok by the weekend. My best wishes to all of you.

Shirley

Thanks for the news, Don.... Are you "in all your glory" with the Christmas Season?  Hope you have been well. Give Bubble our love when you talk to her again, please!  Shirley :christmastree:

Don, good to "see" you!! We did get some snow to the north of you but not a lot.

Shirley, I hope you can see this.....tis what we both can use! :)

Amy, I had that wheeled wagon as a child and hadn't thought of that in ages!

I agree on the masks; great idea! I'm already lifting the nose piece for a few seconds regularly to try and disperse the fogging!

I just finished my weekly diary check in with the nurse and learned something surprising! For all you people craving chocolate, it's not actually the chocolate but the magnesium in that chocolate you're craving!

Shirley

Aw, Amy, the wagon Cas got me was a little like that only big balloon tires & no sleigh feet! Good price but no stock!  My wagon comes Friday so will be ready to haul stuff to store. We've had misty rain all afternoon, even if it had been snow it wouldn't amount to much. Snow to the west of us, guess the pink is ice? and snow west of that. We need moisture and I can't think of anything I need to get out for, just hope we don't lose power.  :coffee:

Amy

Patricia, another way to dispense of the moisture is to fold a Kleenex many times to get
a size maybe 1 " by 4-5 " and put it inside over your nose..

JaneS

Hello Everyfriend!  I've been busy all day but the only thing I can see that got done is a couple loads of laundry and I made some soup in the crock pot.  It started out to be chicken corn soup and I guess you could still call it that but I didn't put noodles in it.  I had some potatoes that needed to be used so I cut them up and added them and an envelope of onion soup mix all in the crockpot and then added the corn about an hour before it was done.  It was absolutely delicious!  I ate a big bowl for supper and when Frankie picked up Cooper, she took a jar home with her for her supper.  I expect a report from her tomorrow.

My last load of laundry is drying and it's towels so I think I'll just let them sit until tomorrow morning.  I'm really tired tonight.  I can't even keep my eyes open to watch the Christmas movies.  I think I'll be off to hit the haystack soon.

It's really cold outside right now.  I'm not sure what the temp is but there's a cold wind blowing and I'm sure the chill factor makes it lower than the temp says it is.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a good tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.  Good night!

Good morning everyone...

We had a light dusting of snow overnight, nothing to worry about. Picking up meds this morning then home to deal with the jobs that didn't get done yesterday. they may or may not get done today.

Patricia, my goodness that is reminisce of Frank Slide that we drove through years ago! I do think there was a lot more damage in it but still this one has its casualties .

Jane, your soup sounds delicious!! How is Mickie doing?

Gloria, hope your eye exam went well.

Phyliss, pray that you get a good report from your xrays.

Better get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning, Everyfriend!  We had below freezing temps overnight and it's still only 32º!  Brrrr!!

AMY, Mickie has good times and bad times with her leg.  Outside on our walks she seems fine and she's even made the two-stage jump up to the bed.  But at the end of the day, she waits for me to lift her up and she missed her jump to the couch a couple times and refuses to try again.  I think she hurts but she's trying to be brave about it.  She's just like the rest of us old ladies!

It's just about time for our first walk and I like to get it in before Cooper shows up!  We really take our time and enjoy our walks.  My SIL said once, "When we take the dogs for a walk, it's THEIR walk, not ours. So we do what they want to do."  And I agree with that!  I let her snuff out anything and everything along the way.  And if she chooses to visit with the neighbors, that's ok too.

Today, the only thing I'm sure of is that I'll finish the laundry and get the OK and TX boxes ready to go.  They get mailed on Monday even if they're not taped shut!

Mickie just headed for the door so I think she's ready to walk!  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with your Soda Shoppe friends!

My American Flyer red wagon sits unused and lonely in the basement.  I used it a lot when Tom and I had the Woodland Garden and it was so handy for hauling plants, tools, pots, etc. around.  I should give it to the Salvation Army and let someone else get some good use out of it.

Thank you, Amy.  I got the x-ray results yesterday and the pictures showed "no abnormalities".  On one hand that is good news but on the other it doesn't explain the severe pain clear down my left side that keeps me awake and hinders my walking.  I guess it is just another one of those things we learn to live with.

The ham and bean soup was really good and since I made it in the Instant Pot it came out perfect in just 60 minutes with no pre-soaking.   There was a lot of ham on that Thanksgiving ham bone so the soup is deliciously meaty.  David liked it......he had two BIG bowls.

It got down to 27 deg. here this morning.  That is cold for us.  Rain coming in tomorrow....at least it isn't supposed to be snow.  Fingers crossed.

Take care, All.

Phyllis, when we lived in Leawood I had a pain I was sure "would get the best of me", ran thru my side & into the hip. We went to visit my husband's mother for a week and the pain sort of faded away. When we got back to our house & I sat down in what I thought a very comfy chair in the kitchen eating area, that pain hit like a bee sting! So I didn't sit there for days and the pain stayed away. Still amazes me to think something so comfy could have caused such a problem. Hope you find a cure as simple as mine!

We had just enough snow to make the trees pretty.... and cause a lot of wrecks around the city. Seems to be over for now & temps high enough tomorrow to melt anything remaining. It didn't stick to my driveway, but I'm happy to see it looking a little like Christmas!

Did any of y'all celebrate St.Nick's Day?  My mother's father was half French & German so he carried on the German tradition when my mother was little and she "gave" it to us. On Dec.5 we would write our letters to Santa and put in a stocking for St.Nick to pick up. He left some kind of fruit, nuts to crack and each a small enough toy to fit in the sock. My sister always got jacks, I remember getting Old Maid cards and remember those wooden paddles with the little rubber balls attached?  Remember "Pick Up Stix"?  Mother loved to make us happy, she was only 7 when her mother died so she became all the things she ever wished for in a mother. Today is her birthday so I will call my only remaining sibling to reminisce about her. My daughter thought she was the best human she'll ever know, as perfect as anyone could be, gently and kind. My daughter & I did not inherit that "gentle" trait.  :-\

Good morning everyone, I was ready to go t o bed when I got home from my appointment. My eyes are fine, thank goodness for that. Don't need new glasses either. I managed to s tay awake till 9 and woke at  9 this morning. Slept the clock around and feel groggy now. I really get wornout every time I go anyplace these days. Too content to stay home maybe? Or maybe because of the Covid 19 with so many places closed and a limit on who can come into this building and Yvette spoiling me? Or maybe old age?

DON  so good seeing your post and that  you can still talk to Bubble. Israel is having bad wea ther, too this year. Seems like the whole world is upside down. Take care of yourself.

AMY  that is neat,  being able  to change the wheels to the runners. Neat new mask, The ones a good friend sent me fit good and no steaming up glasses. I also can wash them, better than having to throw them away.

SHIRLEY  I think the next time I go anywhere will be my son's for Christmas. I know that will  be a long day and with my greatgrand again. That will be the best part.

JANE  my daughter's dog takes them where he wants to go.

PHYLLIS  maybe you need more than an Xray to pick up what is wrong with that leg.  I would love to have some of that ham/bean soup. I have not made that is years now.

SHIRLEY  cannot believe you are not gentle. If that was the case wild animals would lot be attracted to  you, even to be fed.

LLOYD  did not check temperature here this morning but at least the sun in shining bright and the sky is blue.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Have a good rest of the day.

Amy, we're used to earthquakes here, and slides often come with those. However, the slides have been around glaciers, water, or unoccupied areas. Other than major disasters like the earthquake and tsunami of 1964, this isn't normal or expected in residential areas.

I read about the Frank Slide in search, and it reminded me of the one in the thirties that took out most of a Welsh village, also due to coal mining. What was so awful in that case was that it took out the entire school for the village leaving perhaps three children who had not been in school.

Lloyd Hammond

well I bought a new printer, so now a new learning curve.

Good Night and sweet dreams see you in the morning.

JaneS

Well, I finished all 4 loads of laundry and it's all put away. I finished 1 out of three of the boxes that have to go on Monday.  One of them I can't finish until my personal shopper goes to WM on the weekend and the other one I need to do some computer work to finish.  That's my plan for tomorrow.

I made my trip to Davy's and got gas on the way home and it wore me out.  When I told Frankie that I don't think I want to go to the grocery stores any more, she said, "Well, you don't have to!  That's why you have me and Aunt Cathy!"

Now I'm off to the haystack and I hope it's loaded with zzzzs because I'm worn out!  I'll be up and attem early tomorrow....I hope!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a good tomorrow...better than today and germ free!

Denver

A late night HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.  Sadly, I have not been here
for a couple of days.....just not much to talk about.

Tomorrow is the day we WERE to fly to California to see our family.....I am still feeling so sad, but I know we made the right decision as the Covid numbers continue to grow.

DON, how nice to see your name come up here.  Thank you for letting us know that Bbble is doing OK.  WE SURE MISS her not being able to post.  I hope you are doing well?  You are also missed very much!

All the talk about soups sound so good to me.  I, too, made soup with our TG Turkey and the broth that I made from boiling the bones.  It sure turned out good.....we both enjoyed it very much.

Tonight we went to one of the local churches in our area that put on a big Holiday drive through light show.  It was nearly a half hour drive through with Bluetooth connection telling a story as you drove through.  It was very enjoyable.

Thank you PHYLLIS and JANE for the special Birthday Wishes.

JANE, it sounds to me like you need to take advantage of Cathy and Frankie to do your main shopping for you.

LLOYD, good luck learning what you need to know to run the new printing machine.

AMY, those sliders on that wagon sure would make it good for those that live in snowy areas.  We bought wagons for grands and might just have to get Jonah one, but he is in no danger of needing the sliders Palm Springs. Hahaha

Bed time......hope this finds you all doing well.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone...

 No snow to deal with this morning :excited:  Last night we watched the news and snow was to come this way...maybe I had better not get too excited as the day has only just begun.

Oil change this morning then off to the farm store
for a shop. Yesterday our friends came and picked up the items bought for them and dropped off the items she got for us. Her daughter did go to Costco but now has the items delivered to her as the store is crazy with people from red areas (STAY HOME) but don't understand those two words. I did get my Nanaimo bars done.....just hope I can stay out of those.my goodness they are tasty....rich but oh so good.

Jane, I agree with Frankie, let them shop for you. I know you do enjoy going to your markets but let them do the box stores for you.

Jenny, if we all just stay put for 2-3 weeks maybe this dang burn covid would go away. I am willing to give up one Christmas so I can have many more with family.

Lloyd, I bet it won't take long for you to learn how to use your new printer. You have lots of help there to show you how.

Patricia, I watched the news and it said 2 people were still missing. I have only been in one earth quake, there was only a slight tremor under foot. Do you have to have an emergency pack all ready for these earth quake times? Our friend that lived in BC did have to have one and it was law I believe.

Gloria, do you have much snow your way? We now have about 5 inches, we did have more but high temps and rain took some of it away.

Better move it...

Enjoy your day everyone...stay safe.
