My niece was dragged into court by a neighbor who complained about her barking dogs. At one point, the judge asked the neighbor a question.
The neighbor didn’t reply.

“Sir, are you going to answer me?”

The neighbor leaped to his feet. “Are you talking to me?” he asked. “Sorry; I can’t hear a darn thing.”

The case was dismissed.

“Has your diet changed?”
I asked an 87-year-old woman I was admitting into the hospital.

“Yes,” she said. “For Lent, I gave
up whipped cream on my Jell-O, hard candy, and my two beers a night. [Pause]

And look where it’s gotten me.”

Good morning everyone.....
Bubble thank you for the new start page, lovely graphic and great jokes! We are of to the city this morning, Have many questions for the Dr. to answer and I would like a script for the new shingle vaccine.
Yesterday was really a lazy day ,I even managed to sneak in a nap. Used the Instant Pot to do a roast and it came out as tender as can be.

Gloria, yes, they were bear cubs, so innocent looking and scarred!

Jane ,happy to read that you will be on days now. I don't care to drive in the dark anymore. There have been times we have had no choice but I still don't like it.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning, Amy and all who follow.

I hope your trip into the city will be without any big problems.  Hope you get all your questions answered.

My doctor was talking to me about getting the shingles shot.  She told me that I would have to get it at a pharmacy,  Something about the insurance companies and doctors not being able to get it.  I was surprised by that.  I have to talk to my oncologist about what he thinks.  I had the shingles several years ago.

Jane, I know you  will be happy not to have to work in the evenings now.  The days will be getting shorter, so you will not be driving in the dark.

It is supposed to be a nice week with temps in the 80's .   Maybe there are a few summer days left.

I have the OT and the PT coming today.  Won't be able to get my hair done today, as the times will conflict.  The gal only comes to our place on Monday's so, I will have to wait until next week now.  I do not have any place to go this week, so I will have to manage it the best I can.  I just had it cut last week, so that makes it easier.

I hope everyone will have a good day.

Joy

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up a bit and took care of the doggies pills (we're waiting for the boinger)  and put the dishes away out of the dishwasher.  I still have to make dog food but if I make it too early they think it's time to eat it.

Bubble, I'm with AMY on the guess.  I think it's the elephant's shadow.  The only reservation I have is that his shadow could very well be MUCH BIGGER than the elephant.  I'm still thinking on this one.

It could be a cloud?  No, I'm going to stick with his shadow!

I have to make a quick trip to the grocery store for 2 things I forgot yesterday and then I'm going to see about covering the porch furniture, clean up the yard and take the trash to the dumpster.  And that's my day!

I hope yours is better and more fun!

Good morning everyone, 56° this morning. warmer than yesterday.

JOY  glad you got the new rollator and have the bigger wheels. I don't think they had the bigger ones when I got mine.Like you I have a pouch under the seat and it is handy

LARRY  like you I like a hard crispy tart apple. Just picked from the trees are what I really enjoy, Got spoiled with the apples from my son's trees. Of course before he planted them I would go to the farm I like and pick apples there. Glad Pat is happy with her rollator.

JANE  wish I could get a taste for fish. About once a year I like to go out for fish and chips (french fries), think I like the chips and the coating on the fish more than the fish.

GLORIA de  I imagine the kids enjoyed those nature walks.

JENNY  my son has started getting rid of all those trees. He said he will keep only a few for the family. Does not want to go through all that work anymore. A the end of this month he and my DIL will take off for Arizona to visit my daughter for a couple of weeks. My daughter is really looking forward to their visit. Remember when Joan visited Joe when he and Kate lived near Boston? Not enough time to meet her either. I don't drive anymore and my sons are too busy to take me there.

JUNE  hope you feel much better today.

BUBBLE  love your graphic for this month. Fist glance wondered what the man had under his nose and then saw the knight? I like looking at graphics like that to see how many different things I can pick out, Thanks for our new blank page to fill up in October.

AMY  I saw something on TV a few  years ago where bear cubs got inro a dumpster and mama bear was pacing around it. One brave man put a ladder into it and they climbed out. Mama watched him like she knew he was helping.

Have a great day.

Hi Everyone. It is a beautiful clear and sunny morning.  However, it is to be a mostly cloudy day with a high of 84.  I did come home from Sunday School yesterday and got Pat for Church.  Following Church we went to the Sunshine Grill, a favorite little local cafe that has really good old-fashioned hamburgers cooked on a grill.  It came with potato salad and we had to wait just a few minutes as they had to make more potato salad and when it was served it was warm and very tasty.  I came home and rested and then watched a the end of one football game and then the full game that followed.  It was a nice quiet afternoon.  Today will just be staying busy in my office this morning and then after lunch resting as usual and then a quiet later afternoon and evening.  As of now there is no plan to leave the house today other than to the mailbox late this afternoon.

Jane, what a great idea for your granddaughter to shop online and save you having to do it other than pick it up.

deAngel, maybe you will have a quieter week this week.  Nice to have a pizza parlor close by.  It was nice of Mark to take his children on nature walks.

Jenny, do your grand boys have time in their busy schedule to actually play?  Sometimes I wonder if our children today are not pushed too hard to be involved in too many things that they have little time to just be children.  Glad you are finally getting some nice weather while you are there.  How much longer will you be babysitting?

June, sorry you were not able to get to Church but it sounds like you were wise and avoid the risk of falling. I hope today finds you feeling better.

Bubble, thanks for the new start and the graphics.  I must say those get ones attention.  Is the first done representative of Don Quixote and the second Paul Revere alerting that the British are coming? I liked the funnies you shared but have never been good at riddles so didn't have a guess.

Amy, I hope you can get the new shingles vaccine.  I have had the first of the two shots now required and will have the second when I get the second flu shot in a few weeks.  With all the wild animals you have up there I would think night driving would be pretty dangerous regardless of age of the driver.

Joy, we have the same situation here in terms of getting the shots at the pharmacy.  I expect that is a bit of a distraction for the pharmacist but at least at Walmart they get to sit down for a few minutes, certainly something they can't do behind the counter. They just have a screened area in front of the pharmacy counter here at the Walmart but they told me the other day that they expect to have a private room in which to give the injections one of these days.

Gloria, it has been so long since I had an apple just picked from the tree that I have forgotten how good they probably were.  I used to try to eat a whole apple almost everyday with my lunch but now usually have a half apple that I had cut up into small pieces as don't like to bite into them and risk my front teeth.  Nice your son and his wife will be going to visit your daughter in Arizona.

Merry Monday and Happy October Oneth, Everyfriend,

The bad penny turns up again!!   :peepwall:

All is well in my little part of the world.     Weather in central Oklahoma is bouncing back and forth from mid-summer temperatures to almost-winter levels.  Reminds me of an old Peter, Paul and Mary song about a drag race which includes the line "the engine was internally hemorrhaging".  I think we could say the same about our a/cs and furnaces. :D

Miss Ellen's parents are going to NYC later this month to see her in a production of "Cabaret".
Other son/wife are going scuba diving.
I'm staying home!!!!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable day - week - month - etc.

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Great day today!

My Drive Nitro Rollator  was delivered
today.     It is awesome...  Tomorrow I
will take it for a walk down to CVS...

I am hoping this will make me feel more
secure when walking around the city.

As I mentioned,  it got side tracked and ended up
in California  (home base) but it has finally
survived a trip to the North East.

What a relief..  :smitten:

My  thanks to you Gloria and Larry for your good wishes. I'm still on the droopy side...not falling down, but not too steady, So I'm staying home, reading, resting, having one meal a day delivered to my Apt.  The tray just arrived, so I will go and enjoy. I have food I could use, but that would need dishes, and I don't want to work.

/So good to see you posting Callie. You must be SO proud of your Miss Ellen

JaneS,  I'm around every day but would only have to post "activities" (or lack thereof) once a week and then just say,  "Ditto".
The picture of your Tulsa baby is just precious.  If I were up to it,  I'd zip up I-44 and give her a cuddle.

Sandy,  Hooray for the rollator!   We'll have to tie a bell on you to keep up with where you are!  ;)

Thanks, June.  I am proud of Miss Ellen - not only of her ambition but because she is taking full advantage of living in NYC and having lots of neat "adventures".   :smitten:

Bubble,  love your "take" on Don Quixote.  ;D

#2 son is coming for dinner (dil has other plans).   Off to the kitchen.....

I'm home from my LAST evening shift at WM for this year!  Thank goodness.

CALLIE, I think we could probably all say the same thing about our day-to-day lives.  Sometimes, I feel like I'm saying the same thing over and over and why would anyone care and then someone goes missing and I realize that this is a FRIEND.  Maybe I never met her face-to-face and maybe I never will but she's a friend in every sense of the word.  And if I don't see her posting and know that she's up to the same things she always enjoys, I feel just a bit sadder.  Do you understand what I'm trying to say?  Does anyone understand?

Good morning everyone, 54° and drizzly right now, thunderstorms in the forecast for later today. Wonder if Mother Nature is mad at Tuesdays, this is the 4th Tuesday in a row with rain. At least it is not snow.

LARRY  since my son and DIL are both retired they can take 2 weeks to go visit my daughter. When they were both working they only had 1 week vacation and that is never enough time. I can no longer bite into an apple and have to cut them.

CALLIE  like you I am  staying home. My traveling days are over.

SANDY  hope you enjoy your rollator as much as I like mine.

JANE  I know what you mean, when a member of our cyber family is missing I wonder if they are OK. We have had a few that suddenly stop posting and at times I wonder what happened to them and if they are alright.

LLOYD  when are you going for your first trip with the new motor home?

Goodness where is everyone this morning?

Good morning everyone..

Waving madly at you Gloria. :) I slept in, sleep was elusive last night so I made up for it by sleeping in.

Yesterday went well, I did get the script for the shingle shot and the Dr is looking into it to see if hubby can also take this one.

We stopped at Bulk Barn and I loaded up on baking gumdrops and other baking needs, I had a 25% off coupon to use.

Sorry for the short reply but VON will soon be here and I need to get things ready for her.

Jane so glad to hear no more nights for you at work!

Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we will have another nice with some possibility of rain later this afternoon.  My schedule is light this today.  I thought Pat had placed a Walmart grocery order that I would pickup nearby this morning but don't see any email that it is ready so that may not have happened.  A friend will be here for an hour later this morning and that is all that is on the schedule that I know of now.  Pat made some delicious enchiladas for our dinner last evening and there was enough left for three more meals later on.  They will go into the freezer for now.

Callie, nice to see you back.  It sounds like your family is staying busy.  Good for Miss Ellen in getting the part in Cararet.  You need not worry about repetition as most of us wouldn't have much to write about if we didn't talk about our days that are like other days.  I firmly believe it is not the words but the being a part of this cyber family that is important.  Jane has said what I mean much better than I have been able to.  Thanks Jane.

Hi Shirley,  hope all is OK out your way.

Lloyd, I see you expect to get your new motor home soon and have your first trip planned.

Gloria, I think there are quite a few of us whose traveling days are behind us.  I can visualize us taking only one more trip and that is if something happens to Pat's sister, who isn't well.  Even then I don't know whether Pat would want to go back.  Our airport is easy to get to but the Kansas City Airport is more difficult to deal with and the car rental places are off site.

Amy, nothing wrong with sleeping in.  What are baking gumdrops?  That Bulk Barn sounds great.

June, glad you are having a good meal delivered to you once a day when you don't feel like going downstairs to eat or fixing something yourself.  It is important to eat.

Okay - here goes with the Tuesday Report:

Woke up when radio went on.
Did isometric neck exercises.
Took morning meds.
Went out to get the paper.
Read the paper.  Circled t.v. shows I want to watch or record tonight.
Checked e-mail and messaging on Facebook.  Responded.
Got dressed.
Ate breakfast.
Went to get a hair trim.
Went to Batteries and Bulbs to get watch batteries and rechargeable batteries for solar garden lights.
Ate lunch.
Watched season premiers of "This Is Us" on-line because I missed it on t.v.
Made sliders.
Getting ready to go get the mail.
Will read e-books until evening news comes on.
Plan on having left-overs from dinner fixed for son/dil last night.
Then watch t.v. until

Hoping Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

WOW!!  I loved it, CALLIE!  Thanks for the update.  I wish my day had been similar.  Mine involved the vacuum and some instructions for hooking up a new DISH receiver that I don't understand at all.  I don't even know what language they're speaking.  I think it's  "techrecieverese".  I didn't understand a word of it.  My son is on the way over to clean up my mess.  But there are no dead bugs or dust under my TV stand any more!

It will soon be time to feed the doggies.  Annie has already begun her pitiful hunger whine.  Once she really gets in gear, I have to MOVE!

Enjoy the rest of your day, Everyfriend!

After reading all your inspiring posts, I added my rather dull two cents worth, touched the wrong key, and post went out there in cyber space. No problem, it was not that important. I should be writing on Notepad instead of here. I took a few short walks in the hallways today....must get my strength and attitude back in shape.

Weather channel for Stanton says some rain for tomorrow. How I would welcome that !!!!!!

I am going to go downstairs and check my mail box now. Had no mail at all last week, so I should have this months rent bill awaiting me. It is already automatically paid, but I still like to review it.

Have a Blessed night and a great tomorrow. June

Checking in to see how you all are doing?  We are hanging in here, doing our best and I think we have done a good job......HOWEVER, we are very tired and can not wait for the parents to arrive home tomorrow afternoon!  I hope we do not collapse at the sight of them, but I feel like we just might.🤪🤪

Thank you, BUBBLE for our nice new home to share time together in.  Loved your stories for us and I, too, guessed it was the Elephants shadow.

LARRY, sadly kids do not seem to have spare time to just play.  Konrad plays the drums and Warner is learning to play a violin.  So this takes practice time also and they both have homework every school night.  The nice weather was short lived....Saturday and Sunday only, every other day has been dreary and rainy.  A man showed up today to blow out the sprinkler system.....guess with all the rain there is no need to have to water the grass!

SANDY, happy to read your rollator finally arrived after it’s adventure.  I know you are going to love it.  The height of the handles is such there is no bending over at all.....the big wheels roll so smoothly...have fun driving it tomorrow!

Delays, so I must post this and head to bed.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning everyone...

Rain over night and it could be a rainy day today. Taking hubby for blood work in town this morning then home to clean and chase dust bunnies. May have time to finish up another quilt today too.

Jane, that is so nice of your son to do that for you. Hope you have short tills and smiling customers. Son called from Nebraska ,he is on his way home.

Jenny, isn't it amazing how those little feet can tuckers us older ones out. Makes on wish they had their energy and we did at their age. Guess we just ran it all off as we age.

June, I enjoy rain, the smell the sound and it gives new life to just about everything.

Larry, baking gumdrops don't melt when in baking. I am putting a site in to show you what they look like and there are a lot of great recipes in this site. I want to try the cherry cake one also.

Good Morning!  This is a quick one.  I'll be off to work and things to do before I go.  Thanks AMY for the "short line" wish.

We had a loud thunderboomer storm last night.  It started around 8 p.m and we all thought the rumblies had moved off and we were about to relax when there was a huge crack that sounded like it was right outside the window.  Both dogs headed for  their favorite hiding place under my desk.  And they didn't come out until I begged them out with a treat.

Today it isn't supposed to rain and it's supposed to get into the high 70s.  My kind of day.  Enjoy yours whatever it brings.

Good morning everyone, overcast  this AM  59° and pretty dark for 7 in the morning. Was surprised but then with no sunrise to see guess it would be on the dark side. We had a thunderstorm last night about the time I went to bed. My CNA and I got an apple crisp made yesterday, tasted good when I had some in the evening.

AMY  a day late and a dollar short  but I am waving to you this morning. Never heard of baking gumdrops. What do you use them for?

JANE  no Terrible Tuesday here but today is starting as a Weepy Wednesday.

LLOYD  what better way for the first trip that to go visit family. Hope the title gets to you fast so you can get on your way. Drive slow and careful. No lead foot on the gas pedal.

LARRY  if I didn't make a comment to just about everyone here in the SS I would have nothing to say.

CALLIE  loved your post from yesterday. Now we know how you spent your day.

JANE  glad I am not  alone trying to understand directions on some of the new items we get these days. I think the language comes from outer space, MARS? maybe.

JUNE   hope you are feeling much better today.

JENNY  sorry your  trip t o t he Boston area was not more pleasant. as if the grands have not worn you out all the rain we have been having is not pleasant either. How old is Konrad now? I think he and my oldest  great grandson are about the same age. Last time we saw him he was not in school yet.

JANE  can I borrow your son for awhile? I only have my grandson who know about this tech stuff and I am lucky when he finds time to come here.  Working and being on salary he is on call all the time except on vacation, then he shuts off the company cellphone.

AMY  energy? what is that? Wonder if I ever had any, if so it was so long ago I cannot remember it. Ooooh that gumdrop cake looks so good, my sweet tooth is saying "I want".

Have a good day.

Good Wednesday morning.  It is supposed to be another summer day. Temperature in the 80's and supposed to go up to the 90's tomorrow.  I know these kind of days won't last very much longer, but it is so nice not to be dealing with rain and chilly temperatures.  Hope I will get to sit out a little bit.

I  do not have anybody coming today until around 4 p.m. so I have most of the day to myself.

I did get a few more things done yesterday that haven't gotten done since I have been home.  Now, I just need to clean up the kitchen a little bit and get dressed.

Gloria,  I think it is so nice that you manage to answer to most everyone's comments.  Do you take notes as you read along?   I am usually in a hurry and even tho I do read all the messages,  I don't respond as good as I should.  Thank you for being so responsive.  LOL   Your apple crisp sounds so good.  I might have to try to put together something with some apples that I have in the fridge.  Might make some kind of an apple tart.   I have ordered some ice cream from Schwans to be delivered today, so that will go good with the apple "thing".

Do you still get things from Schwan.  I haven't been getting too much from them lately, as I don't have much room in my freezer.  They have little pints of ice cream that don't take up much room.

June, I am glad that you are feeling better.

And, Jane, hope you have an easy day at Walmart today.

And, hope all the other friends have a great day.

Hi Everyone. We have a bright and sunny morning.  We will be in the high 80's again today with little chance of rain.  Pat's breakfast has been fixed and I have grated the pound of cheddar cheese as wanted to use some with her eggs and bacon bits. I have a number of things I want to accomplish today here in my office.  This evening is our Wednesday night dinner at the Church and it is fried chicken week, always a popular meal.  Yesterday we went to the Honey from the Rock Restaurant restaurant at noon and had a great meal.  I had meat loaf, creamed corn and sweet potato casserole with a dinner roll.  The food appears to be made right there and the serving are large.  Their pies look delicious but by the time I finished the main meal I wasn't hungry anymore so was good and by-passed the dessert.  This is the restaurant owned by a Church right next door and the people are so friendly and helpful.  I have to say it is one of my very favorite places to eat here.  It is served cafeteria style and they are open only 3 hours a day at the noon hour.

Callie, great report and it sounds like it was a busy day.

Jane, glad to see your son got your Dish receiver working as it should and fixed the other things as well.     I think our contract with Dish must be over but hesitate to call about any new equipment we might be entitled to as really don't want the hassle although sure our son would be able to help us as well as he is very good with this type of thing. It sounds like Annie has you well trained to get that food out for her.

June, glad to see you were up to taking some short walks in your hallway yesterday. I hope you get some rain today.

Jenny, glad to see that it is now a matter of hours before the boy's parents return from their trip.  Tuck in the back of your mind that "no" is a complete sentence when asked to do things that are becoming too much for you two.  Your family will probably be shocked but sure they will understand that it is just too much for you two.

Amy, you sure are getting a lot of rain up your way.  One of the things I really enjoy at our Wednesday evening dinners at the Church is watching the little ones constantly on the move since we are seldom around small children. It is also nice not have any responsibility for them.  :) Thanks for the link for the gumdrop cake.  The picture sort of looks like the colors I have seen in fruitcakes.  In my view pound cake needs something to liven it up a bit as it is not one of my favorites.

Lloyd, I hope you enjoy driving the new motor home and hope you are able to get it today.

Gloria, apple crisps are good and a little ice cream or whipped cream type topping doesn't hurt anything.

Good Morning all…….oops, it is 12;30 already. One of those days……

We did have a VERY lite rain….more of a mist, but it is still cloudy so I am hoping for more wetness.

Larry, I intend to take some more walks in the hallway today, I must ! Use it or lose it.

Joy, thank you for your good thoughts. It's up to me….no one can do it for me. As Janie says..it's MY day, to make of it what I want it to be.

Gloria, my dear friend…..still not me, but with God's help, I'll get there.

Amy, I feel as you do about the rain…the smell, the sound, and how our thirsty earth out here in So. Ca. would love to drink it up.

Time to go sligger up my cheese Pizza, and get on with the day. See you all later. June

SLIGGER???  I never heard that word!  And neither did my computer because it wants to fix it.  However, I do like the sound of it!

It wasn't such a hard day today.  I've made a change in how I move behind the register in the last few weeks and it seems to have made a difference in how I feel at the end of the day.

GLORIA, I'd be happy to lend you my son to fix some of your technical stuff but I'm afraid you are so far away, his business and his family would suffer.  He sells and repairs TV, etc and all kinds of appliances.  He's third generation doing that job.  His grandfather opened the business in the early 50s when his father and I were juniors in high school.  Before that, my FIL was an inspector on the line in the Westinghouse TV assembly plant down the road from here.  He also repaired TVs and radios out of his home.  I forget when the Westinghouse plant closed but it was after he left and opened his own business.  My husband went to school to learn how to repair TV and then got the good stuff from his father.  My son worked in the store from the time he was big enough to carry his end of an appliance or tv for delivery.  He has a plus going for him though.  He has a college degree in accounting too and is probably responsible for keeping the business going through the hard times.  He's made a lot of changes and there are lots of people in the small towns around here who won't by an appliance from anyone else.

JUNE, you're right about me saying the day is yours.  You have to make it your own by what you do with it.  We're all different and we all make the day our own.

JENNY, saying "no" gets easier and easier.  I love having my family around but I don't take the responsibility any more.  If they come to stay with me, we all do the "entertaining" together.  The last time daughter Christy and granddaughter Frankie were here, we were getting breakfast and Frankie decided that we would have eggs.  I said, "That's fine but your mother will make them.  She's always been better at it than I am."  From the next room Christy said, "That's OK with me but Mom has to make the toast.  She butters it so it's ALL buttered."  Together we made a good team.  Frankie did the serving and the dishes after.

Enough now!  I've blabbered on and one.  JOY, I'm happy to see you posting.  NOW WHERE"S PHYLLIS!  I tried emailing her.  No answer!  Does anyone have a contact?

Thanks, Jane, for thinking of me.  As a matter of fact my house did
suffer some damage from Hurricane Florence and I'm now in the process of
going through insurance claims and setting up dates for work to be done
by  a roofing company.  Thankfully, the damage is not extensive but I
will need a new roof and some repairs to the ceiling upstairs.  This is
not something I enjoy at all but really can't complain because so many,
many people to the south and east of me lost everything.  And, some are
still without power and easy road access to their neighborhoods.  It is
going to take a long time to get everything back to normal.

I hope to come back to S&F again soon.  I miss "chatting" with old
friends.  Hope you are doing well, too.

Glad you let us know, Jane..... We have storm damage so often here in Kansas, kind of hard to think of other states having so many different types of damage.  Roof damage we understand.... 3 new ones in the first 6 or 8 years in this house & that last (4th)time we opted for "lifetime" .... #4 rating for insurance.

Sympathy running over for you, Phyllis.... lots of work involved, even if insurance takes care of most of the bills.

We have storms predicted starting by midnight & the next few days.  Tom is nervous already.  Callie came in for her "snack" but wanted back outside, not in the garage.  She takes care of herself, such a sweet cat.

I finally found the last item lost.... my bright red (orange inside) skillet .... thought I took it in the RV to CO but never found it & couldn't find it in my kitchen cabinet..... until today I put on my "head light"... you've seen the camping/mining types that have about 4 or 5 brightnesses .... picked those bright colors out in the dark cabinets, buried under a pile of other kitchen tools... pots & pans shoved to the back.   ::)  Some day I need to clean out those cabinets.... did it a few years ago.

Janie, maybe it is schligger. It was my husbands word if I recall correctly, and he was Polish, so nothing he said surprised me.

Today  was a better day, but I'm still not me. I did go down to the Clinic and asked about getting the flu shot on Friday..nurse said, Yes..get the shot. They took my vitals….all o.k. but she planned to call my doctor and ask her to request some tests since I have felt punk for over two weeks now.

I pray you all have a peaceful night, and Phyllis, special prayers on the needed work on your home. I am so glad you are O.K. Hugs, Love, and more prayers. June

It's late but I'm here!

Today was "ditto" up through eating breakfast.   Then I had a podiatrist's appointment, picked up a med refill and stopped at the post office to pick up a letter I wasn't home to sign for yesterday.  Made three other stops because I thought of them as I was driving.

I realized I really had gone "all around the town" because our major streets are one mile apart and my route was exactly 3 miles east, three miles north, three miles west and three miles south.

One of the stops was to get 3 rather large pots of yellow mums in bloom.  I got one into each of the planters in my front flower bed but digging out the roots of former plants to make a hole big enough to just set the mum pots in wore me out - even though I sat on my garden cart to do the work.
So I put the third one on the patio and will get it into a planter in the back yard some time before The Big Rains that Shirley's sending this way get here on Friday.

Am now on the way to read a while before "hitting the hay".

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a peaceful restful sleep and pleasant dreams.
:hugs:

I'm up and attem this morning.  I have to make dog food but I don't want the girls begging to do cleanup until their pill time is up so I'm waiting until there is only 20 minutes left.

CALLIE, if you got back from your travels at 3 p.m. you really did do the "threes" yesterday!  It must have been your lucky number.

I wish you all a good day.  It's yours!  Grab it and make it your own.  Do what you wish with it but enjoy doing it!

Good morning everyone...

We were awake around 4  am, thunder and lightening started and then the rain. Snuggled back down into the bed and slept in again :)

I was amazed that hubby was in and out of getting  his blood work done. He said no one was in there at that time so now we know when to go and avoid the rush.

General work about the house today and hope to get some sewing done. We are also looking after the neighbours dog, his Mom is back in the hospital.

Jane,  I can't imagine what Phyliss is going thorough with all the damage from the storm. Thank you for getting in contact with her and lets pray she is back here soon.

Better go get ready for the day

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning, Amy, Shirley and Jane.

Kind of a foggy, gray morning here .  Still the sun is predicted to come out and turn it into a warm "summer" day.  Temperatures are suppose to go down for a few days, and then return to "summer" the first part of next week.   Those days will be  most welcomed, however few they will be.

June,  I hope your doctor will order some tests to find out why you are feeling so "dragged out".  Just not like you to not be feeling good.  But, you still are able to greet us and that is most welcomed.

Shirley, I  was up way too early and planned to go back to sleep, but wasn't to be.  So, up I got and made use of the early day to make the bed, put some dishes in to soak, had my breakfast and in here for a little bit.

I am expecting the PT around noon, so that will give me most of the rest of the day to be my own.  The OT did tell me yesterday, that next week will be her last time to come.  I am hoping the PT and the nurse visits will be over with soon.  They all tell me that I have progressed very well and seem to be doing as good as I was before I got sick.  I feel the same way.

I hope all our friends will have a great day,

Joy

Hi Everyone. It is to be another beautiful mostly sunny day getting up to around 90 degrees.  I had difficulty sleeping last night and didn't get much sleep.  This will be a busy morning usual Thursday morning.  Pat put in a Walmart grocery order that I expected to pick up at the Walmart close to where I take my friend home.  However, when I looked at the reply back I found she had forgotten to switch the locations from the one over in Georgia, about 25 minutes or so away, to the closer store.  It was too late to chance it and it isn't a difficult drive up to Evans to get it I will do that after coffee.  I am hoping that the man who picks up my friend on Tuesdays and takes him to coffee will be there this morning as I know he will take him home and then I can go on to Walmart directly from coffee.  We did have a nice time at the dinner last night at the Church and then a good visit with Scott afterward.  I think he was shocked when he got here and I told him we had no chores for him to do for us.

I am going to brief in my comments today as am a bit rushed this morning.

Jane, do many people now have TV repaired?  I can certainly remember when they used tubes and repair was quite common.  They have come a long way.

Sorry to read that Phyllis had damage to her home but it can be repaired and she didn't have to vacate from it and has power.  Jane, thank you for contacting her and sharing her reply to you.

Shirley, you have given me another visual image of you to go with the little lady speeding in the mountains and getting pulled over.  That is rummaging in your cabinets with the minor lamp.  Glad your mining was successful and you found your skillet.

June, glad you went to your clinic as you had been feeling better.

Callie, I bet those yellow mums are beautiful.

Joy, I only got around 3 or 4 hours of sleep last night.  No particular reason but couldn't turn my mind off.

Well, I got the dog food made and another pack of chicken chopped for the next time.  I made an omelet for me for breakfast and fed the dogs.  Cleaning up the kitchen probably took the longest.  There''s a small amount of chopped chicken waiting to be turned into chicken salad for lunches and a couple of eggs to become pickled eggs.  Also two small packs of chicken marinating in the the fridge to become dinner.  And the kitchen is all cleaned up.

I have a little laundry to do this morning and this afternoon I pick up Kiran after school.  My kind of day.  I love having Kiran and cooking relaxes me if I'm not rushed.

LARRY, they do repair TVs these days but instead of exchanging a couple of tubes, they switch out a circuit board.  It's not as easy as it sounds but they are easier to keep on hand than tubes were.  They take up a lot less space.  That's why your TV doesn't take up as much space in your house any more.

AMY, isn't it neat when you get in and out faster than you expected.  That happened to me the last time I went to the dentist.  I got there early and he had a cancellation right before me so I was in even before my appt. was due and out about 10 minutes after I should have been going in.

Now I'm going to go do my crossword puzzle and whatever else strikes my fancy.  There's a little laundry to be done and I might start the washer before the puzzle.  Have a great day Everyfriend.  Make it your own in every way!

I'm here....but only briefly.  Thanks, Jane, for emailing me.  You are a good friend and I appreciate your (and everyone else's) concern very much.

The dealing with the insurance company and the roofing contractor is grinding on slowly.  I do not like handling things such as this when I am not always certain of what I am supposed to do.  I try to ask a lot of questions and pray that I am doing the right thing and that in the end all will have gone well.

I must get on with my day.  I'll be back soon.

Good Morning everyone. well I always read every thing all the post, but short time memory is not as good as it should be, so do not retain it as i should do.
I have said lot of times I do not believe in re-carnation but if it is real I want to come back as a rich woman's dog. Jane is a good example of why read what she dose for her dog's. we feed our dog Lucky good (to good) she is too fat like I am. If I had enough will power and loose some weight I could breathe easier.
Larry friend Bob has been doing the the inter Net for us and now has the bill of sale marked paid for. so maybe may pick it up and bring home today. and get started getting it packed ready to hit the road some time next week. Have a great day

Good morning everyone, so tired of rain and more rain. When I woke t his morning I had a hard time getting out of bed. I will be glad when my CNA gets here later and can massage my back again.

JOY  I use notepad to write on as I go along reading here. I think it comes installed in all computers. I have not ordered from Schwans in several months.

LARRY  you are right, warm apple crisp with cream or ice cream is perfect.

JUNE  right we have to do what we can or just vegetate.

JANE  don't think I would move to your area to have your son work on the lemon I have for a PC. LOL with the buttered toast, who wants dry edges? not me.
Thanks for letting us know about Phyllis.

SHIRLEY  your cabinets sound like mine.

CALLIE  love mums, any color, add beautiful color at this time of year.

AMY  I did not get up till 9:30 this morning, don't like being in bed that long, get so stiff it is hard to move.

JOY  we had about 5 minutes of sun yesterday and it is still not shining this morning.

PHYLLIS   seeing you here this morning made my day. I never say much about missing one of our family  but I have missed you.

LLOYD  you must be in a hurry to pack up and start traveling. I wish you and Nancy many happy years traveling with the RV.

Another quiet day for me. Had a good nights sleep, thanks be to God. A few odd aches and pains..age does have it's way, but we can ignore it, as much as possible.

Woke to a beautiful sky...broken clouds with pieces of sharp, bright sunshine trying to have it's space. It made it out for a while, now some puffy white ones with soiled feet are pushing their way in. God has such a wonderful sense of humor with His handling of Nature.

I think I will take one more day off and order lunch sent up, and the serving size is so large, it will take care of supper too.

Right now the body wants to lie down for a bit, so I will oblige. See y'all later.  :hugs: June

Well, right after I gave Annie a bath, there was a knock on my door and the groomer was standing out there.  I thought she was due next week and I was going to give both dogs baths.  She took Annie from me and dried her with her dryer then gave Mickie a bath and a haircut.  Now Annie's getting a haircut.

By the time she leaves and I get some snacks for the doggies and lunch for me, it'll be time to go get Kiran.  Then the fun really begins.  I have the doggies stuff in the washer and dryer and that's all the laundry I'm doing today.

Gloria, my son isn't the one who works on my computer.  That would be my daughter when she's here or my granddaughter when she's here.  You have to move to Texas or Baltimore for one of them.  My son fixes appliances, microwaves, etc. and he climbs ladders and moves heavy stuff and fixes my TV.  Sometimes he cuts a hunk out of my tree so the DISH can catch the signal.

Next week he's going to clean out my gutters.

I think my "Grooming Geek"  (that's what she calls herself) is almost finished.  I hear the vacuum cleaning up the last of the doghair.  And Annie just ran past the office door.!  Later 'gators!

Lloyd, I did look up your new motor home and it sure does look nice.    I wish you many happy years of traveling in it,.   that was an interesting site,  I am assuming that you bought it without actually seeing it???  They sure did give you a lot of very good pictures and everything looked very nice.   Happy Trails to you and your wife.

We were long time campers, and we had every kind of camper except a Fifth Wheel.  Started out in a boy scout tent and ended our traveling days in a travel trailer,  My favorite was our Pop-Up, but that was not very convenient when we traveled across the US.  We used it mostly when we went to the Outer Banks .

We had many great trips and met a lot of nice people.   You will find campers to be very friendly and very helpful.

Good morning everyone...

Nice morning although a tad chill at the moment...26° but clear sky. We are off to the city for another appointment. This one is not until 2 so we don't have to leave early, maybe around 12 we will head out.

Lloyd, that is a nice motor home!! A home away from home you have, you and Nancy will enjoy touring with it.

Joy, we were campers as kids then hubby and I camped but now our camping days are over. Your right you do meet a lot of nice people  and see a lot of beautiful sights!

Jane, I did laundry yesterday as well, we are off to a fall fair tomorrow and then heading to the Park on Sunday if weather permits.

June, you couldn't have said it any better with God's sense of humor plus his eye for colour and the beauty he surrounds us with.

Gloria, I hope your back feels better today. Yesterday I emptied the hot tub and cleaned it with hopes of using it last night but I didn't get it done in time. Water temp was only 78°  when I checked and that is too chilly for me.

Phyliss, I hope everything runs smoothly for you in the repairs and quick also.

Larry, I hope you managed to get more sleep last night. Makes it difficult to get through the day on little sleep.

Better move it...

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're waiting for the pill boinger.  I wonder if the doggies actually know there was no pill in their little snackie this morning.  We used the last of them yesterday and the new supply is due to arrive today.  I don't think it will hurt them to miss one day.

I'll be off to Wally World to greet my public this morning.  Wish me short lines.  AMY, I wish you safe travels.  WOW!  If that was fahrenheit degrees you reported, you were below freezing!  I'm not ready for that.  I could take about 6 months of the 50s and 60s with snow for Christmas and then a warm up to 70s to low 80s next summer.  I don't ask for much, do I!

LLOYD, I tried to check out your purchase but I must not have clicked the right buttons.  Maybe I'll try again later today.

I wish you all a good day.  Make it your own in every way.  God gave it to us to use as we wish.  I'm thinking about mine!

Good morning everyone, woke to sunshine this morning, beautiful and 55°. Local forecast said it will get into the upper 40s tonight, good for sleeping with the BR window open a little.

JANE  I am getting ready to get rid of this computer and call it quits. Then I think I would miss my cyber family  too much to get rid of it. This building is wired for Cox and we cannot get any other carrier. At least one day a week Cox will be out for an hour or more. Seems like when I am watching something I am enjoying. There are 4 computers downstairs in the library and only one is working and that is only to play games on. They were all working when I moved here, the witch will not "waste" the money to have them worked on. Quite a few used to use them before.

LLOYD  WOW  that is huge. Good thing you have experience driving big rigs. Looks great and lot of room inside. I wish you many happy hours traveling with it.

AMY just heard in the places away from where they get the official temperatures it might get down to upper 30's tonight and some place in Canada might get snow. Now that is too early for snow. How hot would the water in the hot tub be for you to enjoy? Humidity is down so back feels better than yesterday. Been doing too much this week and that is a no no for me now.

JANE  how about short lines, few purchases and all smiling faces?

Have a good day.

It is another clear day that is going to be hot by the afternoon.  When I went into my office this morning and looked out the window I saw workmen digging big deep holes between the curb and the sidewalk in all of the yards and starting to bury the fiber optic cable that AT&T is installing to provide cable service to our area.  I knew this was going to happen but it was still a bit of a shock.

The housekeeper will be here shortly and that is all that is on the schedule for today.  Yesterday was a very busy day as while I was at coffee a friend called saying they were in the area and wondered if we would be able to meet them for a late lunch.  We were delighted to do so and we visited for about 2 1/2 hours as the restaurant wasn't busy.  I had gone to coffee and then made the hour drive to the Walmart and back for the groceries before we went to met them.  By the time we got home I was extremely tired and sure feel the results of the day today, even though I had a very good nights sleep.

Jane, I hadn't thought about replacing the circuit boards in the TV but know my son has had that done. Do you do a crossword puzzle each day?  My grandmother loved crossword puzzles and kept a puzzle book in the purse so that if she was waiting in the car she was never bored.  I do a couple of crossword puzzles each afternoon that are online and turn the letters red if they are wrong.

Phyllis, it sounds like you are doing all you can do with the insurance company and the roofer.  Glad to see you back posting.

Lloyd, I hope you got the motor home and are pleased with your purchase.  A bill of sale marked paid is always a good thing.  I am like Jane I really wouldn't want to be rich as it would probably have wrecked my life.  God has provided all that we need and some extra.  I just checked out that site and what a nice looking motor home.  It looks like you will have comfortable living out on the road.  Come and visit us and we will be most happy to take you and Nancy out for a good meal.

Gloria, we sat in the booth at the restaurant so long yesterday that Pat could hardly get up and I think she pulled something and is paying for it today.  You might want to consider getting a Chromebook.  It is limited but there is no maintenace required nor any danger of picking up a virus.  You can use the internet but it does have some limitations.  They are inexpensive and I really enjoyed mine until I got my foot caught in the power cord and pulled off my table by my easy chair.  That was not good for it.   They are very lightweight.  Just a thought.

June, we can really see some interesting cloud formations.  The entrance to our house is on a bluff and we have a great view of the clouds anytime we leave or return from our neighborhood.  I hope today will be a good day for you.

Amy, it sounds like you have a nice weekend planned. I did have about 10 1/2 hour using the oxygen and sleeping most of that time but am still really weary today.  I am looking forward to finishing lunch in a little bit so I can lay down and rest this afternoon.  Our housekeeper always does the master bedroom and bathroom first so I can have it after lunch.

Good Afternoon,

Have been to the bank and the pharmacy  (one mile there - one mile back  )

Since there's nowhere else I have to be and no one coming here    , I guess I'll have to tend to Domestic Duties and wait for The Rains To Come.
All the forecasts sound as if we should be loading the Ark!  We shall see.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

I'm home from work, had my lunch, gave the doggies a snack and read everything posted.  I'm more tired than I thought so I'm going to sluff off this afternoon.  That means I'm going to be a sluggard.  And that means a "do-nothing".  I'm really hoping that Cathy doesn't call to see if I want to go to the Amish Store.  I'd be hardpresses to say NO but I know I should.  I just really hate to give up a couple hours with my daughter.

Lloyd, that's some motor home!  I don't think you'll be doing much "camping" in it.  It's much to elegant to be called a "camper".  I wish you happy days, good visits and safe travels.

Maybe I'll go see if there are any zzzzs  on the sofa before she calls.

Yes, Larry, I do a crossword puzzle every morning.  But mine doesn't tell me if the letters are wrong.  The whole word turns yellow if it right.  And you can select easy, medium or hard.  I always do the hard one.  I got my love for puzzles from my grandmother, too.  She did the one in the paper every day until she discovered that I liked doing them too.  Then she would hand them over to me and say, "You do as much as you can, and I'll finish it.  I was about 12.  Shortly after my 15th birthday, I handed one over to her and she looked it over and said, "You finished it!"  She couldn't stop telling our family and friends and anyone who would listen how smart I was!

I hope you all are having a special day!  Remember, it's yours!

Jane, my dad and I both liked to do crossword puzzles and I'd buy the Dell books at the grocery store - two of them, one for each of us.  I used to do a puzzle each night when I went to bed until my eyesight wouldn't let me do them anymore without glasses.  Oh, i always started at the back of the book on the Challenger, then the Expert, then Hard and I maybe did some of the Medium if I didn't have a new book already.  They were fun.

The computer has overtaken many of the things I used to do.

Good Evening.

I had a busy day and just getting around in time to just say Hello !

This day just flew by.  I slept in a little bit,... then had a lengthy phone call with the daughter of a long-time friend of over 50 years.  My friend is not doing well and is being a very stubborn patient in a rehab place.  She is not able to go back home and blames her daughter for everything.  They are trying to get her into a long-term place and she is just refusing anything that is suggested to her.   Won't take her medicine and ready to sue all the nurses and doctors.  I just feel so bad for her daughter, as she has no other family willing to help out even a little bit. Her father is in the beginning stages of dementia and not any help, either. Such a sad situation.  I would love to be able to go talk to her and try to get some things across to her, but I can't jeopardize my health,  as I don't want to go into a place where there are a lot of sick people.

Then the nurse was an hour late coming,,, which made lunch late...had exercises to do and then my son and DIL came and brought dinner.  He took my dining room table apart and was going to take it to the Mission place that takes furniture.  I don't use the table much anymore and it does give me a little more room to move around.  I plan to get a little drop-leaf table.  Just a little bare looking now.

I hope that everyone will have a good rest of the evening.

Will try to get here a little earlier tomorrow.

Joy

This has been a good day, lovely weather. My housekeeper did "deep" cleaning this week, so I spent time in our third floor lobby reading. I was slow today, but ended up doing more than I thought I could. Have had two full weeks of not feeling good, but I think I may be on the mend. I pray so, I don't want to decline.

Late yesterday, the vampire arrived and left me short two vials of blood, and another person collected urine, so hopefully they will find what has made me feel so out of it. after a long nap, and made myself go out for a walk, pruned my fingernails, picked up some bananas , cereal, pastry in the dining room, another book from the library, and now here.

Just had a call from the nurse down stairs, Dr. wants me to have a Gator Ade once a day...sodium is  still too low, even tho I take two salt tablets a day.  O.K.  whatever will be will be.Time to have some supper, then a shower then into bed and book.

Keep well dear hearts, God grant you a peaceful night. Hugs, Love, and Prayers. June

Mary Anne, for years I had a subscription to Dell Puzzles. I started that when I was pregnant and had to stay in bed for two/three months. Then I became addicted.
Now Dell is defunct apparently. The PennyDell publications are not the same.

What about sharing the on-line Xwords sites. Mary Anne, Larry? I'd like to try those.

Good morning everyone..

Couldn't stay in bed, sleep just wasn't there so we (the dogs) and I got up. Fire is crackling away and my tea is made.

Taking hubby to a fall fair today for his birthday..I think son and daughter in love will be meeting us there. I didn't think he would be home from Utah till later today but he phoned last night to say he was 1 1/2 hours away from home.

Joy, that is so sad about your friend, is there any way they could include Dad in the move with their Mom? Maybe that is why she is dragging her feet, doesn't want to leave her hubby.

June , sounds like you had a very productive day......good for you!!

Gloria, when I looked at the temp in the hot tub it had rose to 78......I like it at 98 much nicer and no goosey bumps :)

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Due to a stint of watching TV through my eyelids last night, we went to bed kind of late so slept in this morning.  We're waiting for the boing now so the doggies can have their breakfast.

It looks like it's going to be a nice day today.  I haven't decided what I'm going to do but I have a list for WM that has to be done before the TX/OK ladies arrive.  I just might do that today.

And I might bake some cookies.  I have a new recipe I've been wanting to try.  We shall see!  Enjoy your day! It's yours so grab it an do whatevery pleases you!

Good morning everyone, 47° and almost 9 am. Wonder how low it got. Had a sleepless night, fell asleep about 4 this morning, hate nights like that.

LARRY  I wonder how I would like a tablet  of any kind. I like the big monitor I have for the PC.

AMY  I know nothing about hot tubs, no one in the family has one. Must be nice to sit in that warm water and relax.

Not up to "talking" today, think I will go lay on the couch and watch TV and hopefully fall asleep.

Hi Everyone. We are expecting a mostly sunny day with a high once again in the lower 90's.  I am hoping to have a somewhat busy day, at least more productive than yesterday.  I want to attend my weekly meeting this morning and then make a quick stop at Aldi's for just a few items.  I also need to stop at the service counter at Walmart and return a substitute that was put in the online grocery order that isn't what Pat wanted.  I may pick up a quick sandwich before I come home so I can rest when I get back.  There are a number of good football games on starting at noon so will watch some of them later this afternoon.

Callie, hope you didn't get enough rain to need the Ark.  It is always pleasant to get the day's chores done and have the rest of the day free.

Jane, from your posting this morning it appears that your daughter didn't call about going to the Amish Market yesterday.  Glad you would take yesterday afternoon and evening to relax and watch TV through your eyelids.  I have bought a few crossword puzzle books in the past but probably no more since I can work them on the computer. I don't think I ever got too many of the hard ones done.  Both Pat and I like the find a word books and buy quite a few of these at the dollar store.

Mary Ann, I think working the crossword puzzles helps keep our minds active.  I often find I don't know the word when I first consider the clue but can come back to it a little later and it comes to me.  This tells me my mind is searching my memory data bank for info stored there.

Jenny, I bet the boys were happy with the birthday celebration and nice you all could celebrate with them before you left.  Hope you trip back home today will be nice and smooth.

Amy, Happy Thanksgiving to you all.  I think Columbus Day is basically another day for the stores and usually only the Government workers get the day off as one of their paid holidays.  It sounds like it will be nice and fall feeling at the fair today.  I hope you husband stands up to it well.  It sounds like fun time with your son and his wife.

Joy, so sad when older parents become cantankerous. I feel for that lady's daughter.  I think a lot of older people have unpleasant memories of nursing homes of old but there are many fine places anymore.

June, glad they are doing some tests and that low sodium is probably why you have felt so bad the last couple of weeks.  I hope the Gator Aid is helpful and sure won't hurt you.

Bubble, here are the crossword puzzles site I work each afternoon on the computer:  https://puzzles.usatoday.com/crossword/  and
https://www.seattletimes.com/games-universal/?amu=/iwin-crossword  Be sure to toggle the Seattle Times puzzle  as that lets you see the clues.  Also the other takes a few second to load onto the screen.

Lloyd, that sounds like a very nice cellphone you Nancy got yesterday.  I hope she likes it.  Has she had a smart phone before?

The men putting in the fiber optic cable worked until dark last night and it is buried and today they seem to be just putting things back as they were.  They put the dirt on a big tarp after cutting out the sod that is then place back over the hole once it is filled it.  For some reason the one in front of my house and one across the street still have a big piles of dirt so they still have to be finished up.

Gloria, that is pretty chilly up your way.  I also hate your sleepless night as I suppose we all do.  Hope you can get more rest today.

I am a little earlier today, getting in here.

Have been a kind of lazy today.  Didn't have a lot to do and taking advantage of that.  However, I find that if I have things that have to be done,  I feel so much better.  I was getting used to getting up real early in the rehab center and  did keep that up when I got home.   I have gotten a little lax on that now.  But, sometimes that nice warm bed seems to be calling me to just stay put.

I still like to use the paper-back crossword puzzle books.  I have done the on-line ones, but it seems like you have to keep going back and forth looking up the clues.  I have already printed out some of them to do in writing.  I haven't had any of the books for a while now.  Once in a while there is one in our laundry room, and I will do some of them while waiting for my laundry to get done.

I think it is so important to keep your mind active,  and the crossword puzzles are great for that.  Makes you think harder.

June, hope the tests you will have will give you some idea about why you have not been feeling so "chipper".

Gloria, sorry you are not up to doing a lot of talking today.  I know how you feel when you don't sleep so well.  Thankfully, I have been sleeping so much better since I was sick.  Don't know the reason for that, tho.  Sure do feel better, tho.

Gloria,  you might like a tablet .   I really like my Kindle.  I can do a lot with it. I like to play a couple card games on it,  and I can get into Facebook on it, and I can get onto the internet on it, also. I don't usually get on the Internet , except maybe to just look things up.  I don't do any shopping on it.  I also have a lot of books that I can read on it. Sometimes I have a hard time holding onto an actual book and the Kindle works better.  I have so many books that I will never live long enough to read them all.

Jenny, I hope you have a safe trip back home.   I can understand how hard it is watching the little ones as you get older.  But, I also, know it is hard to "Just say No".  I love seeing my little ones, but they do tend to wear you down.   I have never had to watch them, and I know I would not be up to it now.  Even tho, I love being with them.

Jane, I know you are looking forward to having your family visit and especially, to see that sweet little Emma.

I hope everyone will have a nice rest of the afternoon.

Joy

I went down for a good lunch today, and am trying to decide if I should venture down to hear George Rossi play the songs we love. I usually end up dancing to some of them, and I don't want to be foolish and push too hard. Two weeks of weakness has not been fun. We'll see.........

:hb3: :hb2: :hb3:Happy Birthday, Phyllis! Thought of you today as I stopped in Ottawa for gas & food to go.  I started the morning being hot & putting on the coolest clothes I had in the RV.... but by the time I got to Ottawa wind directions switched & I was wishing for a sweatshirt.  For as long as I can remember that one exit at Ottawa has had a McDonald's across from a gas station & a big parking lot behind the McDonald's where I can park the elephant & get out without any trouble.

I agree, miss Hal & his "pup" and teasing.  Miss a lot of friends we've lost along the way.  My 65th high school class reunion /luncheon was almost sad this week, so many with serious health issues.  One nice surprise was the "kid" that we had the party -wake for a couple years ago because he was given 6 months to live, came to the reunion in a wheel chair but happy to make the trip (about 85 miles one way), thanks to a good friend driving him. He is not at all bitter about the mis-diagnosis, but the fact his muscles were not given physical therapy is the reason for the wheel chair. By the time doctors realized he didn't have what they thought, the muscles were too far gone to recover. He is just happy to be alive.

I've been awake since about 3:30 am and need to get to bed. Glad to see everyone checking in & okay.

Oh, I checked out your new motorhome, Lloyd, looks like a great buy.  Not sure how the mileage is with that one compared with my gas guzzler, but I was moaning every time I had to put in more than most trips because of wind. Did okay on the trip TO Missouri but used way more than normal on the trip home, besides prices went up-up lately. Mine holds 55 gallons so a groan with every fill.  Happy trails to you...........

A day of rest today, I do need to make a pot of soup for tomorrow but that is about it. Neighbour just called and we are now looking after the dog and cat for them.

Thank you very much for the birthday greetings!  I almost forgot that it was THAT day again until I saw the card from David that was waiting for me when I got up.  Heard from family and friends and that was so enjoyable.  A nice, quiet day.  It was a rainy day so we did not go out for a birthday dinner.  Maybe today.  I was given two gift cards for one of the restaurants near me (Red Robin) so perhaps we'll use them today.

Shirley, I haven't been back to Ottawa since my mother died in 1990.  I doubt that I would recognize anything there now.

I was up around 6 and decided to just stay up.  I have already had breakfast, done my exercises, took my meds and stopping by here to say Good morning,

Amy,  I don't have much  planned for today.  I need to take some mail down to go out tomorrow and that is just about all I have planned, so far.,

After I take a shower and get dressed, I will read for a while.  And, I am sure along the way, some zzzzz's will show up.

Hope everyone will have a good day,

Good morning everyone, cloudy to start the day but will clear so says the weather guesser. Several things going on around the state. Big parade in Providence to celebrate Columbus day. Will end in Federal Hill, a section that was all Italian at one time, still many popular restaurants there. One city has their Autumn fest this week end and another town has a big Art festival over the weekend. People from all over the country display their work there. For me these days it is just another day. No more going to parades unless they are on TV, that art festival is always too crowded and parking is a nightmare. Last time I went there was at least 25 years ago. These days I am content to stay home.

PHYLLIS  Happy Belated Wishes.

Sorry for not replying again this morning. Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another lovely day here in South Carolina and it is suppose to stay in the mid to upper 80's today.  Our main activity will be attending Church.  I will go to Sunday School and then come back and get Pat for Church.  We will go somewhere to eat out.  We are having only one Church service today as it is World-Wide Communion Sunday and this service will be in the Fellowship Hall and be a blended service.  Yesterday was a very busy morning but got accomplished all that I had listed I planned to do yesterday.  I did watch college football and the teams I follow all won.

I will make only a couple of comments this morning as have a short time before I need to leave for Church.

Happy belated Birthday Phyllis.

Callie, when I saw the Texas/Oklahoma score I thought of you and the bets you used to have with Hal.  I also miss him here in our discussions.

Lloyd, I was watching the Missouri/South Carolina game from your area and they played a lot of that game in heavy rain and had a couple of rain delays because of lightning in the area. Did you get the storm and heavy rains?  Hope you can finally get to pick up your motor home today.

Shirley, I would shudder in having to fill such a large gas tank as you have on your motor home.

Amy, I don't think you had mentioned that yesterday was your husbands birthday and if you did I just missed noting it.  Anyway, Happy Birthday to him and with his health situation I just bet he really appreciates each birthday that comes around.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Like LARRY, I did everything that I had planned to do yesterday....and a couple more things too.  It was a very productive day.  And a tiring one, too.  But it was a GOOD tired, if you know what I mean.

Lots of laundry done and put away; cleaned out tow shelves in my office and refitted them to be easier to find things I need and in the process, I threw away one tall kitchen can full of unnecessary paper.  I found a couple of things that have been hiding and my office a just a bit more efficient now.  There's a long way to go!

Went to church and coffee hour after and had some pretty good discussions.  I always enjoy those discussions!

I'm another one that misses HAL's rivalry with Callie and just the comments he made to all of us.  He sure was a good-natured soul!

I wonder if LLOYD'S on the way to pick up his motor home!  That's going to be a great big change in his life!

Guess I better get my clothes changed and get to work or I won't be ready for guests.  I'm trying to figure out how to come up with a changing table for the baby.  Bending over a bed isn't much fun.  I think I might have the problem solved but I have to set it up today and see if my thoughts have come together right.  It's been a long time since I've had a baby in the house.  Kiran would have been the last and she'll be 12 in December.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend!  It's yours to do with as your wish but please don't use up all the zzzzs because I have a feeling I'll be looking for some later on!

JaneS wonder no more we went and got it, It handles as easy as it is good looking and just as clean. we stopped and filled up with diesel fuel on the way home took $125 to fill it @ $3.14 guse will be 8 miles to the galleon. but that will cover the motel bills and extra meals will cover it.

This was a very good day.Got to Church on time, had a good lunch with friends, then off to visit a friend in our care facility. She had a shoulder replacement two weeks ago. I saw her once, then I got sick, so it was great to see her today...she is healing nicely, tho with some discomfort. Came home and took a good snooze. Now I have cleaned my coffee maker with vinegar....it needed it !

I am home for the rest  of the day.  I did go down for the music last evening, and i did do one solo dance....when he plays "pretty woman" my body has to get up and move Didn't do any damage and I had a good sleep last night.

Now it's time to think about something for supper....something light..I had a big ham dinner at lunch time.

I pray you all have a peaceful night and a happy healthful tomorrow. Hugs, Love. and prayers, always. June

JUNE, you sound like your old self today.  I'm so happy to hear your report of your day.  It means you enjoyed it.  YAY!!!

LLOYD!  YAY!! to you, too.  You're now a gentleman of leisure.  You can go where you wish and be a free spirit.  What does Nancy think or her new rolling home?  I wish you many years of pleasure with your new toy!  Drive carefully!

I'm off to bed now.  Tomorrow is a work day and the zzzs were elusive today.  Or maybe I wasn't looking in the right places.  Or maybe you guys used them all up before I got there.  Whatever happened, I'm ready to hit the hay.  I wish you God's love and a peaceful night.  I'll see you all in the morning....I hope!

Just wanted to check in and tell you that we are home.  We were up at 4 AM EDT for our 6:40 flight.  It is good to be home, but we left a beautiful day in Boston to come home to a dreary cold day!  There was measurable snow at Denver International Airport this morning!  Ugg, I am not ready for winter weather.  After all the beautiful trees in Boston, it makes Denver look so desolate🤣

Dr. Dave and Family have just departed for a week in London.  They are all so excited?  Their plane was delayed for over one hour.  They will get there mid afternoon tomorrow so the delay should not cause them any problems.

I must call it a night....my eyes are about to close up on me.

More tomorrow.

Pleasant dreams to all.

G'morning all. just a quick 'look in' and add a little note for Denver RE-Dr Dave and Family, the weeks weather forecast for the southern half of England was for fine dry weather, with the warmest day on Wednesday (Forecast to be the warmest October day for the past 40 years !) then  turning colder and wet by next weekend but, we all know what weather forecasters are like !,, this morning (Monday) fine clear, temp at the moment around 19c, (local 9-20AM), hope they enjoy their visit.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're up!  The doggies have been out and are waiting for the boinger for breakfast.  I'm having coffee and fighting a dive bombing mosquito that must have followed us in.  He's being relentless and I've already slapped myself in the head three times and on both arms and my neck twice!  I wish he'd take the hint!

I'll be off to Wally World this morning at 9.  Wish me smiles and short lines.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend.  Make it your own in every way.  Do whatever pleases you most!

Good early morning.

I have been awake since around 4, and finally got up around 5.  I have had breakfast and wanted to just make an appearance.

June,  so glad to hear that you must be feeling better.  You were busy yesterday and that makes me happy.  Glad you got to visit your friend and that you were able to get up and dance.   Now, just keep feeling better and better each day.

Lloyd, happy that you were able to go and get your "new home".   Wishing you many happy years as you travel around the country.

Jenny, I know you are happy to be home, even tho, you came home to the cold dreary day.   I know it was good to be able to sleep in your own bed again.

Jane,  hope you have an easy day at work today.  Maybe you will get a chance later today to catch up with your nap.   I am sure I will find one sometime today, too.

Today will be the last day for the OT to come.   Then, I think on Thursday,  I will be re-evaluated and hopefully, be discharged.   Then,, only  one nurse visit and 1 PT visit this week and  hopefully, next week will be the end of all the home visits.   They have done a good job getting me back to being on my own.

Hope everyone will have a good Monday.

Joy

Hi Everyone.   It is another clear morning on this Columbus Day here in the USA with the temperatures to stay in the low 80's and isolated Thundershowers this afternoon.  This looks like it could be a pretty wet week here in South Carolina as the projected path of the new Gulf hurricane is expected to come across our whole State.  Yesterday I came home to pick up Pat for Church to find only that her back was hurting her and she decided to stay at home.  She had sent me a text but I hadn't checked it as when I left about an hour earlier she had planned to go.  We did have a very nice blended service and once again nice to be in a congregation of 4 to 5 hundred people.  Then I stopped at Firehouse Subs to get a small sub for me and I waited and waited but wasn't too surprised as I had never seen so many people there ahead of me.  Finally, the shift leader announced they were sorry for the wait but they had a lot of order backed up and were short of staff and if anyone wanted a refund they would gladly return our money.  I did get a refund as they hadn't even started on my order and then stopped at Bogangles to get the chicken nuggets that Pat had wanted and a grilled chicken sandwich for myself along with a side of their coleslaw for each of us.

Joy, the two online crossword puzzles that I work take you to the clue when you click on the first box of the word so I seldom need to scroll back and forth.  I have done these online for quite a few years now.

June, you are right that we are fortunate to have known so many people that are no longer with us that were such good online friends for so long.  It sounds like you had a very good day yesterday and even up to dancing to one song.  Way to go!!

Gloria, I am with you in not wanting to get involved with large crowds and have to deal with bad parking situations.  However, when we were younger these things were fun.  It has been several years since I even watched the Rose Bowl Parade.

Jane, it is always nice to get things marked off as done on our to-do lists.

Lloyd, glad you are so pleased with your motor home.  You make a very good point about the cost of fuel for it versus spending nights in a motel or hotel.  I hope you enjoy your trip to Arizona.

Jenny, glad you are safely home and hope you two can get rested up.  To bad you came home to measurable snow when you got to the airport.  I hope Dr. Dave and family have a great time in London.  Are the kids out of school this week?

Roley, nice to read that you are enjoying some pleasant weather.

Hello!  JOY, AMY and LARRY!  No one has been in here since Larry around 9 this morning.  Where is everyone?  I didn't see any of you at Wal-Mart....at least you didn't check out through my line.

I had a really neat experience this morning!  My third customer of the day handed me some sort of makeup item and said, "Can you ring this up and keep it?  When I was unpacking at home, I found this one, "(she was holding an open and used one in her other hand).  She added, "I realized I hadn't paid for it and it's been bothering me all week".  I immediately told her I could do that and then I thanked her profusely for her honesty and told her that she'd made my day!  There are still some honest people out there!

When the others show up, I hope you are having such a good day that you just didn't have time for your computer!  Let the good times roll!

Good evening, on another miserable day, cool and misty. My friend thats leaving for Florida Sunday took me out to lunch. Then we went for and autom drive. The traffic out here was awful Pumpkin picking time.  the farm stands were crowded.

Yesterday I felt extra good, so I covered the chair seats on the wrought  iron set and a little material left over so made two place mats.

June glad to see you were able to get out,

Larry in and other post I see you mention catnip, my Taffy wants nothing to do with it, I always try with a catnip toy at Christmas

Gloria, I am sure you are having this uncomfortable damp day, I wish it would just rain and get it over.  I wore a pant suit to day, everyone said I looked nice. I had to laugh as the suit is 35 years old. When I worked at the hospital we were not allowed to wear slacks, it had to be a pant suite. Every thing had to match

By the way late HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes to Phyllis. I was not able to get into this post a couple of days

Jenny, glad to see you both home safe and sound.  Nothing like your own bed

Gloria de - in contrast to your miserable day, for the most part we had a very nice day, but it did start to rain around supper time.  We were at 80 degrees and I heard tomorrow it will be 82 degrees.  Unbelievable for this time of year.

Kendrick loves catnip and is often at the drawer where it is kept.  I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't open the drawer some day because he tries to.  Anything I get for him has a bag of catnip and he can smell it even before the package is opened.

Another cool, nice day out here in Stanton. My day started out beautifully. Ordered some groceries on line, and all went well, except instead of bringing them to my Apt. the girl left them at the desk downstairs, and since it was lunch time, no one was available to bring them here. eventually they arrived and I put them away. Feeling very tired today for some odd reason, so just taking it easy.

I want to be well on Wed. to attend my son's Bible study class. I have missed his last one, and the other fellows too. They switch weeks. Our Pastor did two in a row since there were 5 weeks in the month.

No real news from here, I feel extra tired today, so I will close down early. Have a peaceful night and a happy, healthy tomorrow. I love you all. June

Thank you EVERYFRIEND for your nice comments.  It was great to sleep in our own bed, however I loved the guest bed in Boston.  It is actually nicer than ours, which is not always the case.  It is too high for me though, so Bob had to help me get up into it!  Also Kurt’s SUV is high, so Bob had to help boost me up into it!  I do not do well with stairs, so Bob had to help me up them....whooo, wears me out just thinking about it all again! 😂

My Kitty, Smokey, did not leave my side all night long, or all day today.  He is such a sweet boy!

Thank you, Roley, for the weather update in London.  It appears the family will enjoy nice temperatures while they are in the UK.  The pictures they shared today looked like it was a beautiful day there.

LARRY, yes the grands are on fall break.  They start school quite early here so they can have this break.

My dad started back at physical therapy again today.  He seems to have some weakness in the new hip area, so they are trying to get it strengthened up.  Other than this, he seems to be doing just fine.

It is getting late and ain’t am more than ready to say goodnight.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone...

We had a great time yesterday with the kids and their dog. Traffic was picking up by the time they left but they made good time in getting back home. Made two batches of bread and sent two loaves home with them and one over to the neighbour to enjoy.

A thunderstorm plus heavy rains later that evening knocking out the satellite dish many times.

Today I have to take the van in for an oil change and hope to cut the grass, maybe for the last time this year. :) Also have laundry to finish folding or iron .

Jenny, nice to go away but so nice to come home.

June, hope you had sweet dreams and will wake up feeling refreshed for the new day.

Jane,I keep forgetting to ask did you get the oil for the dogs and if so do they like it?

Gloria de, my goodness you were busy ! That is a lot of work covering seats, nice that you had enough material for placemats, that worked out well.

Gloria, hope you feel better today..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will be short because I have a very early dr.s appt this morning.  It's for my regular checkup and I'm not eating or drinking coffee before I go.  I'm thinking of picking up breakfast on the way home.

AMY, I did get the salmon oil and I don't know if they even know it's there.  According to the directions, they get a spritz twice a day and I just add it to their food.  I've been wondering if its doing what it's supposed to be doing.  If it is, I need to get a bigger bottle the next time.

I'm off to get dressed while we wait for the boing.  I'll just have time to feed the doggies before I leave.  I don't think I've been out before 8 in a number of years!  It'll be nice to have this done early.

JENNY!  Welcome home!  It's nice to go away and visit with our families but it's nice to come back home, too

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!  It's yours to do with as you please.

A quick "Good Morning" before I go back to fixing my breakfast.  Woke up about 4:00 am but didn't want to get up yet so just lay there thinking about the last week.  Realized there was no rain on the roof so better give cats their breakfast & let them go out for a short while.  Radar showing another day of almost constant rain & those fur babies are getting fed up, they want out but end up sitting under the round table that gives them shelter from the wet stuff but not the exercise they need.  We need the rain so no complaints, just have to work around it.

Jenny, so glad your father is doing more physical therapy & willing to work at it.  Sorry you are having problems with the ups & downs and know how difficult to keep up.  I'm noticing my hands are not liking those full days of hanging onto a steering wheel, especially with the Kansas winds.  BUT with the health problems so many at my class reunion are facing, I still feel blessed.  I know how willing you are to do so much traveling.... "hang in there".

Jane, it does bring up the spirits when someone goes that extra mile to make things right.  I also had a "warm & fuzzy" time on my last trip when I got in the wrong lane in Kansas City, had even been watching for the problem.... road work, got caught a couple years ago near the same spot (some road work goes on for years, right?)... anyway, the detour signs did NOt show which lane would get me to the highway I needed & OOPS, too late... & after getting off & thinking I could just circle around & hop back on & take the other lane, I gave up after half an hour or so & put down my window to get the attention of a couple "kids" in the car next to me.... asked how to get back on that highway & they yelled the name of the street & even pulled in front of me to wave out the window where I should turn.  They also made the turn & waved me to where to get back on to the highway.  I think they were being extra kind to help the old lady, I really was way south of where I thought I was.  I smile every time I think of their friendly helpfulness.

Amy, my grass didn't get cut last week & should have been trimmed yesterday but really doesn't need it... almost looks like it shrunk.  Can it do that?  I used my battery weed whip/trimmer last week & cut off the weeds that outgrew the mums by the sidewalk... think that is all it will get until my lawn guy can do one last tidy up.  I think he might be able to mow/mulch & bag the leaves one time before winter takes over.  I do get out & rake leaves away from the fences so the mower can pick up, but also bag some myself.  Not my favorite thing to do but one way to keep fit, I am basically lazy & have to push me.

My grandson with the Crohn's problem is still getting more tests. Doctors thought he could control until after their 2nd honeymoon to Hawaii, but another flare up has him going for even more tests.  They had plane fare & all the extras taken care of so not sure how much would be lost if he has to have surgery first.  My understanding the doctors can refuse to allow him to fly it is so serious, & each round of tests shows a different issue.  This week will be the final decision, so sad to watch their dream trip fall apart but pray the surgery can be done & trip postponed to be enjoyed later.... my opinion is they would not relax to enjoy all the activities planned.... but depends on understanding by all those people involved.

Starting to rain again so cats are just sitting under the table but don't want to come back inside yet.... cats don't OBEY like a dog.... when I beg them to "come on in".... they just stare at me & look away, even if I use my stern voice.   ::) >:(

Best wishes for a clean bill of health, Janie.

Good morning everyone, did not  feel good yesterday and never turned on the PC. Dozed on the couch most of the day. Have not been sleeping well last few nights and it caught up to me. Once again last night I had about 4 hours sleep and for me that is never enough, I am used to at least 7 hours every night. The week end and the holiday were dreary days, we did have some light rain Sunday and misty most of yesterday and the dampness has set into my back. Hope my CNA gets here on time today to give me a back massage. Have been up for 3 hours already and time to get my breakfast.
Have a good day.

Gloria, I have found if I don't sleep good for a couple of nights, the next one or two nights, I really sleep good.  Some times I take a nap in the afternoon, but often I am doing something interesting and forget all about it.

Jenny, I have the same trouble getting into high vehicles.  Annie was driving a big truck at one time to take me to an appointment.  I could not get my leg up to the height of the cab floor and we had to find something in my garage for me to step on first.  Recently Tom's former wife (Sue), Annie and I went to lunch and Sue has a SUV that I had trouble getting into. I think I could have made it OK, but Sue pushed on my "little behind" and I was in.  The arthritis in my knees will not pull me up to get in higher places and I do not get on ladders any more, either.  My so-called "golden years" are really my "rusty years".  Oh well, I take what I get and I'm happy so far.

We are to get into the 80s today and it's already 70 degrees.  Mid-August!!!

Good Morning everyone. It is 69º headed for 76º and thunder Storms currently.
short lived but on and on often. well we are up again today to the learning curve of how and what to do with what setting to work in the Motor home, It is the full 8 foot wide that is leagale with. I have drove it enough to know where to view the road and keep it centered in our Owen Lane. it has air ride supposition so rides like a dream. I am up to how to start the generator and AC or heat. Has to have generator to operate them. the generator runs on diesel same as engine that runs the coach. the drive engine is a 300 horse power. no problem moving on down the road. has 80 mph om speedometer and will do it in a heart beat.
On the turnpike in Kansas it 75 MPH  can set the cruse and steer it. Have a great day. Shirley we should have stopped at your place you could showed us just how and what to do. oh well we will figure out some of what to do and stop by when we go to AZ you can teach us or if you come to MO first you are welcome to take time and stop off by and help. Have a great day,

Lloyd

I'm back from the dr and had some breakfast and now I'm ready for my second cup of coffee.  The dr visit went well.  She's pleased with everything except my foot that had the surgery.  The Dr. who did it is retired so I get to pick a new one to have a look at it.  And I don't have to leave town to do that.  And Hallelujah....my blood pressure is back in the GOOD zone.  I think it was up just because of all the stress factors that were going on.

Gotta get started on my day's activities.  Enjoy yours, Everyfriend!

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we are in for a cloudy 84 degree day with chances of more rain later today.  I checked the radar map this morning from our local TV station and it shows the Hurricane path veering off just a ways to the South of where I live.  However, we do expect some heavy rain as of last nights forecast and some winds.  Each day the picture changes a bit and now it is predicted to start affecting this area late tomorrow afternoon or evening.  It sure looks like it is going to be another bad Hurricane for the Gulf coast but weakening as it makes it way up toward the East Coast.  My main accomplishment for yesterday was to complete the Indexing of the recipes and links to recipes and helpful information for the two cooking discussions in the Homemaking folder.  It was a major job and required a lot of hours and careful attention to detail.  Today I plan on taking it easy but will be meeting with my friend for an hour this morning here at the house.

Jane, I have had a couple of occasions when I got to my car and found something in my basket that hadn't been scanned and so went back into the store and paid for it.  It is embarrassing but was not intentional and could be fixed.  I never object to someone at the door as I leave checking my cart against my ticket.  That doesn't happen very often at our Walmart's but they do it every time with everyone at Costco.  It is always nice to get the doctor appointments over early in the day and especially when you get a good report as it sounds like you had today.

Jenny, Pat was commenting on the height of our bed yesterday but it has to be the height it is so the lifting mechanism can function.  Obviously Smokey missed you while you were away.  Nice that your grands don't have to miss school for the trip to London although I am sure that will be very educational.

Amy, that bread sure sounds good.  It makes the house smell so good while it is baking.  I think that will just have to remain a memory for me as pretty sure Pat will be making no more homemade bread.  We lost our satellite dish signal for awhile last evening as well due to some short lived rain here.

Shirley, it sounds like you might need a boat out your way but I expect the rain is welcome.  Glad you had helpful young men who could guide you back to the right road on your recent trip.  It is another example of good people doing good things that help others.  Sure hope your grandson and wife don't have to miss their trip to Hawaii.

Gloria, sorry that you had a bad day yesterday and haven't been sleeping well.  That sure does a number of us.  Hope the CNA can help you find some relief from the back pain.

Lloyd, I just bet you will soon figure everything out on your motor home.  It does sound a bit daunting.

deAngel, nice you could get out for lunch on Sunday with your friend and then take a drive. I hope you have a nicer day today.

June, it sounds like the grocery delivery girl was taking the easy way out.  I hope you didn't have anything that thawed out while you waited to have the brought up to your apartment.  I hope you will soon have several days in a row where you are feeling good and up to getting out.

Jane, alwaays

Good Morning dear hearts, I'm staying in today. Feeling sort of blah, so no sense in pushing...and nothing that needs doing. I have a book to return to the library, but tomorrow is another day......Mly son will have his Bible class tomorrow and I sure want to be "fit" for that.

I'm drinking my can of Gator Ade..recommended by my doctor. It does help energy wise, and has plenty of electrolytes, which my body needs.

I wish you all a happy, happy, happy day. June

We are in Tucson for a while - our youngest son decided to drive us this year and he then went on to Phoenix and another meeting in NYC - giving a lecture for bankers.  Don and I are in awe of our offspring - our granddaughter is still in college and has been hired by a Think Tank -  I barely know what it could mean.  It would be so fun to sit in on these meetings.

We have been here a week and it has taken a lot of time - plus car being worked on yesterday.  I can say the cupboard and fridge are both filled and all the house duties are finished.  My sewing is going to be easy stuff right now - the kind where I don't have to "think".

It looks like we may have a couple of limes on the teeny tree and that would be a treat.

June:  Your post just arrived - take care and keep drinking that good liquid.  I am trying to sip water all day - children's orders.

Good Afternoon.   Just getting here as I had another visit from the PT.   We used walked up and down the halls a couple time.   I can do that now without having to stop to rest.  This will be the last week for her visits.  She is very pleased with how much energy I have now.

I want to go down to get my mail and maybe sit outside for a little while.

Jane, glad you had a good doctor's visit.  That is always good.  Since I was sick, my blood pressure has been really good.  Before, it wasn't bad most of the time, except when I would go to the doctor's.   It seemed to be up higher than usual when I go there.  Not sure if the Eliquis that I am taking has anything to do with it.

June, hope that you will be feeling rested and well enough to go down to the Bible study tomorrow that your son will be having.  I know how much you enjoy that. Plus, you will be able to have a visit with him afterwards.

Larry,  you asked how old my son is going to be???   He is the youngest, and he will be 54.... the middle son was 60 this year,... and the oldest will be 64 in March.  (but of course, I will only be 58 in May. LOL )  ( I wish)

Lloyd,  when we bought our Class A motor home,  my husband got a friend,  who was a Charter Bus driver,  to go out with him a couple times until he got the hang of driving something that big.  I remember one time we were going across country,  we kept seeing signs that if you were wider than so many feet, you would have to take a certain exit before crossing over a bridge (somewhere).  We were just within a foot or two  of the amount they had posted.  I just kept my eyes closed while we went over that bridge.  That was scary.  We have a couple scary experiences like that over the years.

Gloria,  hope your back felt better after your massage.  Luckily, I have been sleeping so much better and even can get back to sleep when I have to get up during the night.

Gloria de, good for you for  being able to recover a coupe chairs.   I used to do all of my own upholstering and really enjoyed doing it.  I would have rather upholster something than to make a slip-cover.

Mary Ann,  my son used to bring a small stool with him when he had a bigger truck than he does now.  I used to get to laughing when I would have to try to get in it.  He had a smaller vehicle now and I don't have a lot of trouble.  And, it is easy to get out...........I can just slide out.

I hope everyone will have a nice rest of the day.

Joy

Joy, fortunately it isn't necessary for Annie to take me any place and if she does, she has a car at her disposal.  I get out of vehicles like you do - I slide out.  And Tom has a fit if he knows I do that; he's afraid I'll break a leg.  Well, it wouldn't be the first time!

Joy, I enjoy reading your post.   I went to a yard sale years go and bought a stack of 3  small stools. the one I have under the dinning room table Taffy has claimed it. I told my friend next door if someone takes my cat after I pass. they must take the stool also :) One I keep by my bed, I need it to get on the bed.   The other I use when I go out with someone that has a high car.  I am down to 4 10

Good evening.  Another cold and dreary day here in the Mile High.  We have had snow flakes off and on all day, but none are sticking.

We have been watching the weather reports on Hurricane Michael with great concerns as he is headed for Bob’s hometown of Panama City Beach Florida.  It appears this storm is going to be a devistating one.

GLORIA, I hope your CNA gave you the back massage and you are feeling better tonight.

CAROL, I assumed you had left for Tucson.  You got out of here in good time as it has turned pretty nasty out there.  I sure hope we do not get any measurable amount of snow as the trees for the most part have not even begun to loose their leaves.

LLOYD, I hope you were able to get your title changed and were able to pay for those tags today.  Your new RIG sounds like a real doozy... enjoy!

MARYANN, these vehicles are so high that even if you can get your leg up you have no ability to lift as your other leg is totally extended!  I get those “boosts” from Bob too....I would never make it without him.  It sure was good to go out and climb into MY car today with the greatest of ease!

GLORIA de, hahaha even Taffy needs a stool to get up on!

LARRY, I am sure you will be getting some of the wind and rain from this latest storm.  Seems everything is becoming a challenge for me these days.....but at least I know I am not the only one dealing with challenges!  The family continues to enjoy their time in London.  The weather seems to be perfect and they are all able to walk for miles to see all they can in this week they are there.

JOY, it seems you are getting stronger each day.....so glad you are feeling better.

AMY, glad your family enjoyed a nice holiday together.

SHIRLEY, I had to chuckle at your asking for and getting help from the young men...it warms the heart to know that there are folks out there to help us when we need it.  I am holding good thoughts and saying prayers for your grandson....I sure hope they can go ahead with their planned trip.

JANE, happy to read that your BP is back at a good range again.  Sorry about the foot issue.  I hope the problem is not too serious
and the new foot doc can help you out.

ROLEY, the weather report you gave has proven to be true.....the weather has been wonderful for the London Family visitors.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

G'Morning all. Another fine day here, just finished a nice long natter with Lloyd, he told me the length of his new trailer home !, he said if he could cross the Ocean he would pay me a visit !, I had to explain that due to the size of his new trailer home he could never get out of Southampton let alone drive on our roads !,  :), also the price he would have to pay for filling up with Diesel would cost him a arm and a leg !.
Denver. on the BBC news this morning it mentioned Hurricane Michael and how the states of Georgia,Carolina and Florada are preparing for it,
I think we might catch the outer edges by the weekend here as the forecast is for high winds and rain, so that means it's the end of our Indian summer !, as you can see by this short clip we are getting exceptional weather at the moment .

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I realized that I had not signed off last night and didn't bid you all good night.  I hope you all had a GOOD NIGHT and are facing the day with good expectations.

I'll be off to Wally World to greet my public this morning.  Wish me short lines and happy customers.

JENNY and AMY, too....I don't even want to think about snow yet!  Please, if you must have it, keep it in your own areas for a while at least.

I wish you all a good day.  Do whatever you wish with it but make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone..

Foggy here , hope it soon lifts as we are heading to the Park . Each year we make a pilgrimage to see the fall colours in the park. We have missed a few years due to health issues but today all of us are going.

http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/general_park_info/fall-colour-report.php#webcam

We have camped in just about every campsite there.

Yesterday I managed to put away all the lawn furniture and replace the burnt out light bulb in the overhead door mechanism. Along with a few other chores I did manage to get some sewing done.

Shirley, the grass did get cut ,hubby did it and I did the weed whacking. I think this is the last cutting for the year ,now to winterize the mowers. I still need to till the garden but rain has interfered with that.

Jane, usually on the 30th of Oct we get a bit of snow but it doesn't stay. I have been starting the snow blower a couple of times during the summer just to make sure it starts. Short lines ,happy customer and a time that goes by quickly today.Happy to read of you great Dr repost, that should put a skip in your step. :)

Joy, love reading your posts and feel you are feeling a lot better now.

Jenny, when our son in law was here on Mon, he asked if there was anything he could do for us. Yes, it does warm ones heart when the young ones think of others.

Gloria, hope you feel better today and your CNA gave you a good back massage yesterday.

MaryAnn, my son has a truck that he raised  and it also has large tires on in. Tis not very pretty to watch me climb in  or slide out.

Lloyd, you and Nancy will have a lot of fun touring in your motorhome.
Nice that you both can take life a little easier now.

June, enjoy Bible class today with your Gary.

Larry, hope you are well rested now and ready to meet the day.

I had better scoot.

Enjoy your day everyone.

AMY, I'll just sit quietly in the back seat and try to bring back the memories of an overnight in our camper with children at Algonquin Park.  It was a long time ago.  I think maybe 1967.  We went to EXPO 67 with the kids and camped outside the grounds.  I wanted them to know that there was a lot more to Canada than a "thrown-together" campsite outside a huge fair.  So we traveled a bit too.  Ah!  the memories!  I haven't thought of that one in a long time.  Thanks!

Amy, I've seen those raised trucks and I wouldn't even attempt to get in one.  I'm not sure I'd want to ride in one if I did manage to get in one

We have the start of a nice day.  It is to get up to 78 degrees but maybe with a storm this evening.  Tomorrow's high will be 53 degrees.  I think fall is here with vengeance.

I'm not awake yet or I'd find more to say.

Hi Everyone. Here in South Carolina we are awaiting the impacts that Hurricane Michael may have on this area.  We are to get a lot of rain, wind and the possibility of tornados.  I see on the Weather Channel that the Hurricane now has winds of 145 MPH.  I am glad we are as far away from the coast as we are.  It is a warm and humid 75 degrees here already.  Pat is up and plan on attending her craft group this morning and I will go on down to the restaurant and have coffee with any of my friends that are there today.  This evening we plan on eating at the Church and Scott plans to come out afterwards.

June, I hope you are feeling up to attending your son's Bible study today.  Glad to see you are now drinking the Gator Ade.

Carol, you certainly have an accomplished family and am happy for you.

Joy, it sounds like you have the "white coat" syndrome when you are at the doctor's office and have your blood pressure taken.  I have such low pressure  I always tell them it is normal for me. Thanks for the info on the age of your youngest son.  Our son will be turning 55 in about two weeks.  I like your "short novels" so keep up the good work.

Lloyd, I hope you didn't have too much tax to pay on the motor home but think what it would have been if you had purchased a new one.

Jenny, the hurricane is going to do terrific damage along the coast and then inland as well.  My concern here isn't particularly the rain and wind but the possibility of tornados.  Do the seats in your car automatically higher and lower as needed?  In this last year I am finding it harder to get out of our car and sort of fall into the seat as they are low.

Roley,   having viewed several of the videos you have shared and see how narrow some of your roads are.  With all of the cars we have on the roads here we sure couldn't get along with the narrow roads.  We live off the frontage road of a major Interstate and they will be making the road 6 lanes (3 each way) up to the exit we take when we return from Georgia, which is just across the river from us.

Jane, hope you find short lines today.  I saw some video from some grocery stores shelves in Florida that had absolutely nothing left on them. I am sure you can feel for those cashiers.

Amy, hope you will find some beautiful leaves and colours in the park.  We are fortunate to have family members willing to do things to help us.

Good Morning,

Finally - the sun is shining in central Oklahoma.    There were several "pop-up" tornadoes yesterday.  Weather gurus gave a long technical explanation about two systems "colliding" over Oklahoma.    One in Midwest City (east edge of OKC)  tossed three cars from the parking lot into the entrance of a department store.  It hit so quickly that the weather sirens didn't have time to get the signal and sound a warning.
T.V. stations didn't even know what was happening.

This week has been stressful for several reasons and I am skipping two meetings for some "down time" at home.  I need mental down time more than physical rest so am thinking about cleaning out my closet.   Plan B is to be a "recliner radish" thing until the urge goes away.

Hope those in Michael's path stay safe and that Everyfriend Everywhere has an Enjoyable Day.

Later getting in here. Had a kind of lazy morning.......had to wait for the OT therapist to come, who was supposed to discharge me today.   Somehow,  his messages had gotten mixed up and he had me down for 2 more weeks.  The gal that was here on Monday said that was her last day and someone would come today to re-evaluate me and discharge me.  So, I don' t know what is going on.

Jean, from FLorida, wrote a message over in Norm's page that she and Larry had decided to leave because of the hurricane.  I think she said they were in Mississippi.  Hopefully, they won't be away for too long.

I hope Gloria 'd  hears from her daughter, also.  She was hoping that she had left her place to go to a shelter.  It sounds like a pretty bad storm.

I have a friend who lives down near Tampa and I haven't been able to get hold of her.  Don't sure if that area was going to be hit as hard as the northern part.

Hope Larry doesn't have any problems where he is.  I wasn't thinking about the path of the storm getting up to where he is.

Callie,  hope you are able to get some "down time" today and will be more energized tomorrow.   I should be straightening out some dresser drawers, but just getiing too late to start any big job.

I just might go down to get my mail and go sit out front for a little while.

Have a good rest of the afternoon.

It would be nice to have everyone check in as to their safety.

Joy:  Keep up on that very good therapy.

Jenny:  I believe you were east when we left.  It is a bit cooler - was high 90's when we arrived.  How is your dad?

Lloyd:  After all these storms, perhaps you can get in an RV trip.  Take care.

Roley:  That is a beautiful place to walk.

I am listening to John Denver and figured that I like about 80% of his songs.

Don is at a lecture where I should be but I had a terrible night and it may have been the leftover Chinese meal - although it was only one night in the fridge.  The laundry and ironing is finished - no comment on how many years I have been doing laundry -  :-[

Hello Everyfriend!  When I first checked in here there were no message from S&F and I went off and did some other things and came back about an hour and a half later...still no messages.  Then I just came back a few minutes ago and, guess what?  No messags!  I told myself, "Wait a minute!  That can't be!  My last visit here was about 9:15 this morning."  So I tried the back door.  You might be able to lock me out by the front door but I know the combination for the back door and.....TADA!  Here I am!

The lines were short and the customers were mostly happy.  Our shelves were a bit on the empty side and I'm wondering if some things have been redirected to the areas of need?

I'm praying for everyone in the path of this new threat.  I hope he keeps everyone safe and gives everyone the sense to seek the "high ground" as it were!

I took a short nap this afternoon after I saw to everyone's needs and then I did some cooking...some for now and some for when my company is here.  I sure don't want any of us tied to the kitchen.  My plan is to spend as much time as possible with that beautiful baby and her mother who I also don't see enough of.

I got he results of the blood tests that they did when I had my check up and they were also good.  I think I'm going to live!  Now, what shall I do with the rest of my life?

Janie, what to do with the rest of your life ? ENJOY !! Every minute of every day. A Nun once told me that since she was bed ridden, it gave her more time to pray for others. I try to remember her words on those days that I am down. There is much to pray for in this world today. Right ??

I had a great day....my son's Bible study was great ! Gary is so Gary...no falsity there at all. I was so happy afterwards when he said "yes," he would stay and have lunch with me. we ate outside..great food, great weather. His Dori was spending the day with the unwed mothers program she attends. What a couple they are. God really gifted me with these kids.

I am going to go down for supper tonight...not a menu I really like, but I don't feel like washing dishes here at home so I'll go down and eat what I like....mostly vegetables, and I'll get a small jar of milk for tomorrows cereal.

If I don't get back to say Goodnight, have a peaceful one. God watches over us. always. June

JUNE,  I did say that I'm going to "LIVE".  What better way to spend the rest of my life?

That NUN you mentioned certainly had the right attitude.  If we can't do anything else, we can pray!

I'm going to wish you all Good Night before I forget.  I'm going to go watch some TV and I suspect part of it will be through my eyelids.  When that happens, I get up and take the doggies out and go to bed.

Forgot to mention that today was a gorgeous day!  The temps got up into the low 80s and it's still 72.  The sun was shining all day and it was a day to cherish!  I had the windows open all day for the fresh air.

Thank you Amy for that web site, it's a lovely time of the year to see the magnificent display of colours, it has been so mild here this year that our show around here will be a little later this year, then I shall start to wonder what kind of winter is waiting or us down the road !, from what our forecasters say, it seems the colder air will start to move in from this weekend !, my 'other half' tells me my thermal socks and thicker jumpers are all ready !  but please, no snow !  :)

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I had a very restless night.  Just couldn't seem to sleep more than an hour or so at a time.  Also had cramps in one foot and ankle bad enough to make me get up and walk them off.  I got out the Gator Ade and kept it by the bed.  That helped.  and now we are in for a rainy day.  I will NOT let it get me down!  This is MY day and I'm grabbing it!

I'm trying to get ready for my visitors.  Cindy's friend is bringing over a contraption that babies sleep in and I suppose I'll try putting it up.  I wonder what ever became of cribs?

Coffee's done so I'm going to go get some and I'll be back later to see what you are up to today.  Take the day!

Good morning everyone...

We had a great day touring yesterday (tiring too) Saw lots of golds, rusts bright yellow. Not many reds but when we did they were vibrant red. All these colours were mixed in with the greens of the pines . When we came home and let the dogs out of the van golden girl fell and hubby thought he could pick her up ,well if he didn't fall! I helped him up and golden girl got up on her own. She amazes us at times, acting like a pup one time and then others we wonder if she will get through the day.

Jane, you were so quiet in the backseat one hardly knew you were there!! Hope you enjoyed the commentary as I love the Park and could help the ooooohss and ahhhss  when the colours were so pretty.

Roley, you are welcome. Here were bring out the fleece bedding , flanenel shits, lj's (long johns ) and wool socks.Yes, not too soon.

Well, I slept in again so I had better move it...feel rather lazy and it is humid from the rain so movement will be slow :)

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning,  Jane and all who follow.

It looks like it is sprinkling rain outside my window.  However  the temperature is still in the low 70's .   Supposed to get a lot cooler the next few days.

Since I have not been up too long,  nothing much is going on yet.

Not sure what I will get into today.  I do know that the nurse will be here between 3 and 4.  I am hoping that she will tell me that next week will be the last of these visits.  I don't have anymore issues to talk about.  I seem to be just about back to how I was before.   Just have to try to keep up with the exercises and stay well.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone. Still dark here in North Augusta, South Carolina but it looks like we have been very lucky so far from the Hurricane. It started raining about 2:30 am and then some wind and at 4:30 we lost power for about 20 minutes and then another very brief outage a little later. The Weather Channel has a reporter over in Augusta, Georgia, and he said we have had about 2 1/2 inches of rain in the area and we will get some more rain and moderate winds this morning but nothing severe is expected and then will clear off this afternoon. I am seeing some of the pictures that are showing the terrible destruction that some of the communities in Florida experienced. I am sure a lot more destruction will be visible as the sun comes up and the reporters can get around more.

Pat did go to her craft group at Church yesterday and then we stopped at Zaxby's for our lunch. The Wednesday evening activities were cancelled at the Church so Scott just came out and had one of the meatloaf dinners Pat had put together that we taken out of the freezer. I had gotten a new utility cart like we have in the kitchen that is so handy to use in the garage to get groceries from the car into the house and he put it together for us. I am taking a pass on going to coffee this morning as the old gentleman I pick up on Thursday isn't sure on his feet and a big gust of wind could blow him over plus it will still be raining. I just plan on a nice quiet day here at home.

Carol, I sure hope you are feeling better today.

Jane, glad you had short lines and happy customers yesterday.  Good news on your blood tests and check up. Sorry to read that you had a rough night and had those foot and ankle cramps.

June, glad that Gary was able to stay and have lunch with you.  I hope you had a good night last night.

Roley, they are saying that we can now expect to have some nicer and more normal weather for the Fall season than we have had yet.  Do you generally get much snow during the winter months where you live?

Amy, that wasn't a good ending to your nice day or touring.  I sure hope your husband didn't have any bad effects from his fall.

I have left comments for a number of you in Norm's Bait and Tackle so skipped further comments today in this discussion.

Good morning everyone, missed getting here yesterday again. My CNA will be here at 10 this morning, just about time for coffee and breakfast.

MARY ANN  after a few nights of not sleeping I slept a good 8 hours last night so feel awake this morning. Wish I could nap but never happens. I do lay on the couch every afternoon more to rest my back than anything else. It has been a few years since I could get into any high vehicle. Have trouble even getting into the back seat in a car. Front seat is much easier.

LARRY  had a good back massage the last 2 days and it felt good, even helps get around better for at least half the day. Have not been outside this week and it has been hot. Unusual for this time of year.

JOY  glad you are feeling so much better. No hope for my back, nothing has helped so far.

JENNY  a back massage always feels great but the effects do not last long.

AMY  WOW I would love to go to the park with you. The maples here are the ones I love to see with their bright colors, the ones in the back of the parking lot are from bright red to a maroon color, In the mornings when the sun is shining on them I look out my window and wish I had a camera. We have a lot of oaks some turn a rust/bronze color and very few have red/gold color. Remember what Joan called the LJ's? Geemagotchees.  Wonder how she came up with that word.

Have a good day.

Checking in to see how EVERYFRIEND is doing.  We have been watching The Weather Channel non stop trying to see all we can of the damage in Panama City / Beach area.  So far, all of the relatives have checked in and are all safe, how ever the damage to property is extent.  We have not heard from one cousin and numerous friends, but we are hoping and praying they too are safe.

All property west of our beach area seems to have come through the storm with minimal damage, but our beach area and East to Panama City and beyond is not!  Some areas like Mexico Beach look like a war zone.....very sad.  One cousin owns a business downtown PC and her shop was on the national news showing the awful destruction. A tree fell on her home, so it is inhabitable and they have not had any contact with her today.

I wish you all a good day....if you are in the path of the remnants of Michael, I hope you can stay safe.

Janie, I was have a bit of trouble last night too, and ended up sipping some gator ade and it worked…..was able to relax and sleep.

Amy, I just can't picture you feeling lazy. You are the "doiing-est" person I know.

Joy, I have a day off too..I did take two empty boxes downstairs..nice clean ones from my Amazon order. Nothing goes to waste here, thank goodness.I do my daily exercises and massage my legs and feet  every morning. And I know it has helped me overcome some of the lack of blood flow do to clogged leg arteries.

Larry, I am so glad you are not being adversely affected by that latest hurricane…it sure tore up some of the gulf beach area. My night turned out resftul and peaceful after I slurped up some more Gator ade. Thank you for your kind thoughtfulness.

Gloria, how I wish they could give you a shot in the back.or cut a nerve or something so you would have relief from pain. I see a commercial where this guy has some kind of surgery near his spine and it shows him standing with only a band aid where they cut something.Wish I knew what it was all about.

I plan to go down for lunch, and have no other plans for the day. There is choir practice but it is too involved for me….I love to sing, but not to work at it, so I will go with the Red Hatters tomorrow….they do easy stuff. And I still sing a hymn every morning here in my apt., after I do the prayer readings.

I love my life here at Rowntree Gardens. So much sincere love from so many. My
Gary and Dori sure blessed me by bringing me to this place. It is "home'.

Not sure if I really posted but didn't take time to go back very far to check, every time I start something the phone rings & it is a long conversation totally different from what was on my mind, so don't get back to "square one".  I guess I posted over in Photos & answered some e-mails telling about everything going on.  Another good friend's son died this week, same age as my youngest son, so can imagine how torn up the rest of the family is.  Last I heard of my friend was about a year ago, that she was in a care facility with Alzheimer's.

Had to call to tell our other friend that lost her son a month or so ago, they were both living in NY when their boys were young, so especially close, but the friend I called doesn't do computers so doesn't read the online obits in the paper where we grew up.  Another of our friends sent e-mail that she couldn't be at the reunion because she was just diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer, had her first chemo & after a week they would do a scan to see if that chemo was going to help.  After finding so many of my class mates in really bad health, kind of hard to understand why I am so lucky, I sure never did anything to deserve it.  I thank God every day, grateful for every breath, I know it could end any time, and I do pray for the strength to be as graceous as my friend when that time comes.

The highlight of the reunion was the "kid" that was supposed to die more than 2 years ago came to the reunion with his "bride to be" pushing his wheel chair.  She seems as nice and sweet as he has been telling me every time he calls, so I wish them happiness, for both.  She was an aide where he lives, left that job but kept coming back to visit him.  She is much younger and I pray they both find good days that over shadow the bad ones.  He has never uttered one word of bitterness about the mis-diagnosis that pushed him into that wheel chair.... Had he received the physical therapy needed from the start, I don't think his muscles would be is this shape.... my opinion, but I'm amazed how accepting he is of his fate.  We have all heard to horror stories of people taking advantage of "our age".... so I am asking for prayers for this couple, that they are honest about their feelings for each other and neither of them making this decision for the wrong reasons.  They honestly have something to offer each other that could make his last days happier and hers easier for years to come.

Hope to get back to a normal day soon, need to drain the fresh water tank & refill for the next trip, need to take care of that pool & do some trimming in the yard, need to: need to: need to..... Got winter clothes on but must go find the rest of the "sweats" that I wear around the house all winter.  No fall, so just "bang!" get out the coats & boots!  Seems we always had our first really cold night when the kids wanted to go "Trick or Treat"..... right?  Even back when I was young it would often be our first ice or snow.  I LOVE IT...
even if the old bones aren't as happy with cold weather.

Today was a day to do things I didn't know I was going to do.  I've been despairing over the fact that my living room and hall carpet really need to be cleaned and last weekend I decided why they felft damp.  All summer, I think I only ran the A/C a few times so all that moisture and humidity was in the house.  Then, those two little animals that live here dragged every ounce of dirt that could cling to them inside.  And with the coming of Fall, it hasn't really been cold enough to run the heat....more dampness.

So this morning I called my favorite carpet cleaning couple to see if they have time to do the living room and hall and after some conversation to remind herself what was needed, she said that they could come on Tuesday Morning if that would suit.  It SUITS!  So I already started to move everything I can into the dining room.  I've taken everything out of the curio cabinet and cleaned the glass shelves.  Tomorrow, I'll do the rest of the glass and start cleaning all the doodads.  But I'll wait and let them help me move the cabinet.  There's not much left in the living room and what is there, will be moved, cleaned behind and moved back in place when Cindy and Kevin leave.

And it will be all clean and nice when the Tex/Okies come!

I'm hoping tonight will be a better sleeping night than last night.  I didn't take a nap this afternoon and I'm already sleepy.

I hope you are all having a good day and that your night will be both restful and peaceful.  Greet tomorrow with a smile.  It'll start your day off right!

Good morning everyone...

We are being eased into colder temps ,this morning it is 36° all too soon we will looking at snow. This is the earliest Alberta has had snow and apparently lots of it!

Need to go get my shingle shot early this morning, we are still waiting to see if hubby can have it or not. This one is not a live vaccine so maybe he will be able. I  know he doesn't want the shingles back!! He also has a flu and pneumonia shot to get next time he is at the Dr.s

I finally finished the last of the came quilts, now I can move on to something else. My van needs to be washed so if the day warms up it may get done.

Shirley, that is so sad ,young men passing away so early.I don't want to out live our children but as you know one doesn't get that choice. Seeing your "kid" friend there would certainly make your heart smile....

I had better go get ready.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning from a chilly Central PA.  The temp dropped into the "wear a jacket to work" zone overnight.  It shoule have been a "wear a jacket to take the dogs out" too but at least it was a warning.

I'm still moving small pieces of furniture out of the LR.  I can't wait to see it clean.  After Cindy and Kevin are gone on Tuesday, I'll start replacing the small stuff in the curio cabinet and leave the furniture for the Dynamo to clean and replace on Wednesday when she comes.  We're going to sparkle on Thursday when the family arrives.

AMY, I'm thinking of getting a flue shot for the first time in about 20 years.  My Doc gave me some pretty good reasons why it's a good idea.  She also gave me good reasons for the shingles shot and added that the new one is not as bad as the first ones were.  I'm also thinking about that, too.  When I tell Cathy, she's going to add her pressure.  If any of you have good to say about them, please do.  I've avoided the flu shots ever since they made me very ill back in the mid 90s.

Now I better get on my horse and get ready for work.  Wish me smiles and short lines.  I wish you all your best day in a month of Sundays!

Hi Everyone. It is an absolutely beautiful morning here in North Augusta with clear skies and 53 degrees.  We are suppose to get up to only 74 degrees this afternoon, the first real day of fall weather.  Nothing particular on the schedule for today.  I took care of a lot of little chores yesterday and was really tired last evening and a bit draggy this morning so will probably lay back down for awhile after I finish here in the office and I get Pat's breakfast fixed and read or listen to my audio book.  One of my coffee drinking friends gave me a book on Wednesday.  Scott came out yesterday afternoon to take a shower before he went to work.  His electric was off all day.  It must have been on when he got off around midnight as if it weren't he planned to come out here to spend the night but didn't need to do so.

Gloria, good to see you had a good 8 hours of sleep Wednesday night.  I didn't sleep well that night due to the Hurricane warnings and losing electric for a little while but I sure slept hard last night and would have slept in longer but didn't want to miss the trash collection. Our normal trash pickup is Thursday's but the city postponed it until today due to the expected rain and winds.  They came by at around 8:30 so glad I didn't dilly-dally this morning in getting it out.  Have you ever tried a TENS unit on your back.  Pat has one coming in the mail next week.  I know Stacey had one that we gave away and it helped her.

Jenny, safety of the folks is the paramount concern during these horrific storms.  I hope all of your relatives and friends in Panama City/Beach area were wise and evacuated.  However, doubt they have a good homecoming at least in the Beach area.  So sorry about your friends lose of business and home.

June, good to read that the Gator Ade is helping you and you were able to relax and sleep.  I hope you are able to participate with your Red Hatters today.

Shirley, it is very sad when our children precede us in death but life must go on.  It sounds like this isn't a good week for some of your friends.  You are certainly getting cold weather quickly.

Jane, we have been shocked not to have to deal with high humidity in our house this summer and didn't need to use the dehumidifier at all.  However, we have run the AC all the time.  Glad you are going to be able to get your carpets cleaned.  I have never had a problem with flu shots other than a sore arm for a few days.  I am just waiting the required time to have my second flue and shingles shots and then will have the pneumonia shot as well.  Hope you had short lines today.

Amy, it sounds like winter type weather is on its way to you as that is a very cool morning.  I hope you are still sometime away from the snow.

deAngel, happy to see you will be attending your home makers group today and enjoying a luncheon.

Jane, I have had flu shots for umpty-seven years and have had no problems.  The only thing the nurse asks is if I have an allergy to eggs.  I get my shots at Walgreen's in the pharmacy department.

Jane, I agree with Mary Ann.  The only problem I have ever had with any shots is a deep-seated aversion to any kind of needles :'(.  I could never be an illicit drug user!  I just take a deep breath and close my eyes and it's over :). That aversion carries over to sewing needles also!

I'm also a firm believer of arnica gel which is an old time homopathic medicine.  It helps with the redness and soreness at the injection site and works wonders with bruises also.

MaryTX, after the nurse gives me the shot, she places a bandaid on the place (not the red 'W' you see in ads) and I forget about it for a few days (sleeve covers the place).  I don't recall ever having any type of reaction - but there's always a first time.  I haven't had my shot yet this year because I keep forgetting about it and Tom has to be available.

I've been getting shots of some type for years, since childhood, and they haven't bothered me.  I remember my first vaccination while in grade school was on my leg because my mother did not want me to have the scar showing the rest of my life.  For years I could find the scar on my leg but cannot now.  In 1976 when I went to Guatemala, I had to get another vaccination and I had that on my arm and I can't find that now although there is a darker spot on that arm which could be it.  They may have improved the vaccine or too many years have passed (48).  Mentally, I could not be a drug user.

Jane ,here is so reading  for you.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/flu/expert-answers/fluzone/faq-20058032

Because Kyle has a compromised immune system due to meds he is getting this one. plus the pneumonia shot too...he can't afford to get sick as it would hit him like a brick wall!!!

I got the first shot of the new shingle shot and will go back in 2 moths or so to get the second one. This one is 90% better than the old vaccine.

More reading for you.. :smitten:

I hope this helps but if not talk to your Dr. and they will explain  it better ..

I am not getting on the computer for hours these days but I do read the postings.
Things got so far behind with the summer being so hot. Was also hard to get people to work on what needs doing. Still looking for one for the painting outdoors.
But now I think things will have to hold off until Spring. Big change on the weather. Got down to 31 last night and will be same all week. Warming up only to 40s.
Did get a call today and someone will replace the ceiling fan in dining room and maybe will clean gutters on porch. Furnace all taken care of. Has not stopped running since.
Just read in paper today that a warehouse is being built. Ready in Nov. They will need 3500 people to work in 3 shifts handling packages . Amazon must have hired United Parcel and the other carrier as delivery carriers. It will put a end to some of the stores at the big mall as  they can't get people to work there and even 2 Walmart have closed down this past month and other than Macy's at the mall the others have left. Such A Bergners, Sears. Big sport store. lots of small ones.
This is a University town and twin cities. only about 195000 in both together.. The new one is going to start out at $16 a hour and can work either 4 or 8 hours on choice of 3 shifts. Great for students also. 2 new bus lines have started coming in from outlining small towns.  Our 2 big Hospital take so many workers. Online shopping is now taking over Read where Amazon shipping was in the Trillions this year. The choice now for the big warehouse is between Chicago and Indianapolis. It will be needing thousands of workers. Should be no excuse for people to be out of work soon. Living on welfare. How the places are changing. It is getting harder now for college grads getting jobs to stay around the area.

Our teachers in all the schools went on strike yesterday in the local schools. I suppose that their Salaries will have to improve when the Minimum wage starts going up to $15 a hour. A teacher only making about 12% a year more. Back in the late 60s I remember people making min. wage got about $1.50 a hour.
Looks like rain and so got to head out to buy a new ceiling fan.

Getting a new computer end of month that will be W10 and so want to have more time to be on it. Spend more time on S and F.

I was looking forward to this day....all kinds of good stuff to attend. My night was interrupted at 2;30 a.m. by a tech who wanted to draw blood, so that kept me awake for a while after he left, then I woke at 6a.m. when the nurse arrived with my early meds, and a patch of nitro glycerine. Then my house keeper arrived at 7:30. so I ended up all tired out before I even got my day started. So I have canceled all the fun stuff to appease the body, but must go down for my flu shot later on.

Weather here is beautiful. I am reading my eyes out but enjoying the Christian fiction, and thankful to do what I can do. The body rules. Sometimes it lets me dance, other times it says "act your age", so I don't fight it.

And I love being here with all of you, enjoying your life styles, praying for those who need it, and thanking God for it all. Hugs and Love my dear ones. June

I'm here right now but I'm going to apologize in advance.  There's a busy time coming up and I might not find much computer time.  This is what the next week or so is bringing.

1.  My living room and hall carpet will be cleaned on Tuesday.  I've already begun to take things out of the living room and stuff them in the dining room.  After the cleaning, it will all have to be put back and I'm trying to wash and dust and clean all the knick knacks before they go back in the curio cabinet.  They will also clean the sofa which is the only thing I'm leaving in the living room.

2.  I'm thinking of taking the window curtains down and washing them.  Might as well have it all clean at once.

3.  Monday and Wednesday Mornings I work and Sunday Morning I go to church.

4. Monday at noon my cleaning Dynamo comes and whatever hasn't been moved back into the living room by then, she will help me put back.  And then sparkle up the rest of the house.

5.  My neighbor is going to cut back my 5 Rose of Sharon bushes on Tuesday sometime and I help carry and bag the cuttings.

6.  I have a grocery list as long as my arm and hopefully I'll have time on Tuesday to get that done.

7.  The beds have to be changed on Thursday because...

8.  The Texans and Okies arrive on Thursday late evening!

EMMA'S COMING...SO IS HER MOMMY AND HER GRAMMY!

Do you think I'll get it all done?  I wonder?  I didn't plan on the shrubbery cutting or the carpet cleaning before they came but I'm glad both are getting done.

So now I bid you all goodnight because just writing all that down made me tired!  Sleep well and greet tomorrow with a smile!

Good morning everyone...

My goodness Jane your itinerary for the next week makes me tired just reading it. All worth the effort though to enjoy your company.....all 4 generations will be under one roof!!!

Not sure what is on the agenda other than laundry. When I let the dogs out the patio stones looked wet so not sure if laundry will be hung out. I also need to clean out the eave troughs but I think that will wait till my arm is not as sore.

Jeanne P , it is great seeing you here..I don't want to have another hot summer either. My goodness there was no let up on heat. We ran our a/c night and day to get some relief.  I switched to W10 and like others thought it was going to be difficult to get use to but it isn't .You will be fine with it .

Better go get ready to meet the day...we are looking after the dog and cat next door today.

My neighbours Mom (92) could use some prayers please. They finally found out her problem and will be operated on Mon for bowel cancer..this sweet lady has had so much on her plate lately .

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning.

Amy, I am still around.  I thought I posted something yesterday, but maybe I didn't.   I usually read the morning messages, but sometimes just decide to come back later and then get busy, and forget.

However, I am doing good and just trying to get back to my normal schedule.  This past week were the last visits from the OT and the PT,  so life will be a little less busy.  Not sure just how much longer the nurse will be coming, but I doubt it will be much longer.  I also have a doctor's appt. this week, so then, hopefully, I will be able to plan some other things to do.  I know I want to get back to some more de-cluttering that I started a while back.  Still have a lot to get organized.

It really got chilly overnight and I had to break down and turn on the heat for a little bit.  Not looking forward to the long, cold wintery days that will soon be here.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend and a special Good Morning to you, AMY and to you too, Joy.  You beat me here!

I got up to rain also but it's just a misty rain so it didn't keep the doggies in.  However, the temp is only 46º.  I think we have FALL!

AMY, I can wedge prayers in almost anywhere, anytime so the will be on the way for your neighbor's sweet MOM.

Now I better get on with my schedule.  I want to be dressed and ready to do some of the "away from home" things on my schedule as soon as the doggies are fed.

I did sleep better last night and I had the alarm set for 7 a.m. just in case.  We almost never sleep to the alarm.  We did today with only one wakeup during the night and that one was necessary.  It never disturbs the doggies so I got right back to sleep.

Now I'm off to begin my day.  I wonder how big a dent I can make in my schedule.  I actually forgot one thing I have to do.  But that one only involves a phone call.  The worst part of it is that I have to remember to do it before they close.

Enjoy your day.  I hope you're smiling because I am!

I just have to say that living through 2 hurricanes within 1 month has really tested my patience!  Not quite as much rain with Matthew as we had with Florence but more wind.  Even though I was raised in KS where the wind blows all the time (right, Shirley?) I really hate wind!  Scares the bejeebers out of me when I see the big trees weaving back and forth wildly.  Big trees are down all over the area, but I was lucky because I had only small to medium size limbs come down.  Also, the roof leakage didn't get any worse so that is good.  Still working through the insurance process and trying to coordinate work schedules with the roofing contractor so it is keeping me occupied.  I truly am not complaining because we had NOTHING like what happened in Florida.  I feel so bad for everyone there.

Glad you and Pat are all right, Larry.

Jenny, does Bob still have any family in Panama City?  If he does, I am hoping they are all right.  The pictures of Mexico Beach just being completely destroyed were so disturbing.

Yesterday was a beautiful day!  Cool and low humidity and a beautiful blue sky.  It did get a little chilly last night and I had to pile on an extra blanket.  But, I don't mind that.  I love this kind of weather.

I hope every one here is well or, at least feeling better and staying happily busy.

Good morning everyone, well the humidity and heat has finally left here. Had rain from Michael all day yesterday and a cold front came through overnight and now it is 44°. HOPEFULLY we won't have anymore of that high humidity. Some areas of this little state had 3 inches of rain Thursday into yesterday. When it stopped the wind picked up but saw no branches down in this area. Not many leaves fell but the parking lot is full of dry pine needles.

JUNE  I have had shots in my back but they do not help. I have been told I am too old for surgery, not that I want it. From what I understand that laser treatment in the back is expensive and not many insurances will cover it. One Vet here looked into it and even the veteran hospital will not cover it.

SHIRLEY  like you I am happy with the 44° here this morning.

JANE  I had the best sleep in a week and do not feel groggy this morning.

AMY  like you I do not want to outlive my children.

PHYLLIS  glad I do not  own a house anymore so do not have all the trouble with getting insurance claims in.

Just started raining again but at least it in not hot. I rather have winter than another hot and humid summer that extended into fall this year.
Have a good day.

It is 40 degrees here this morning.  Yesterday I brought in my plants from the deck and they will stay in for the winter.  Most are amaryllis bulbs which will be ignored until the first of the year.

Phyllis, it is good to see things are as good as possible with you following all of the hurricanes you've been through.  I've watched much TV and I'm amazed at the destruction along the Florida panhandle.  When Jim and I would travel to Florida, we would go through some of those cities, although not at the oceanside.

The national "do-not-call" list does not protect consumers from every type of unwanted phone call. Political organizations, charities and telephone surveyors are free to make unsolicited calls without receiving a penalty, as are any companies or their subsidiaries you may have had a previous business relationship with.

Mary, I am with you as don't like needles stuck into me and have had quite enough with medical procedures.  I had to give myself three shots a week for a year when I was on Interferon for the Hep C, which I got from blood transfusions before they started checking blood for Hep C.

Amy, don't you just love these percentages such as the 90% better than the old pneumonia shot.  So sorry for the need of surgery for your neighbours mom and hope all goes well.

Phyllis, sure glad to see your posting and know you weathered the storms with no significant damage.  We had no damage from the Hurricane even though the cone came right over Augusta.  It must have picked up wind speed as it got to your area.

Gloria, it is nice to be done with the high humidity.  It is so nice here that Pat and I plan on going out this afternoon for our main meal.  We have been inside all week except for a few of hours on Wednesday.

June, I would really be upset if someone wanted to take blood at 2:30 in the morning and don't like it in the hospital when it is usually around 5 am.  Too bad that spoiled your plans for yesterday.

Jane, at least we will know why you may post less in the next few days.  Just enjoy your family when they get there.  We will still be here when they are gone.  If you wash your curtains I hope your cleaning people will hang them back for you so you can stay off that ladder.  I am worn out just reading of all you have to do in the next few days.

Larry, we are on the do not call list but they don't pay attention one bit to it. Thank you....I think it is what is after surgery will be the difficult part to get through.

Jane, thank you,j ust got word they are taking his Mom out tonight by ambulance at 9;30 pm.....gosh I am in bed by then. They phoned and said they will stay with Mom till then .I went and brought Rex here for a bit, will take him back after supper. She has a great outlook on this so hope all goes well.

I did get the laundry out blowing on the line and have just brought it back in after a looooooong nap!!! Felt good too!

Just want to say hello and see how you all are doing.

We have been trying every way possible to find out how our family is coping with the awful situation in Panama City, and finally got a call from Bob‘s sister this morning.  She could only tell us that they are OK.  They have a roof over their heads... No electricity or water and only today were able to use the cell phone.  They have dry and canned food and some drinking water.  They of course have no comprehension of how awful things are there...... they have not been able to get out of their area because of downed trees and power lines, but today she was able to drive to a nearby store that is open to buy a few more supplies.

One cousin that is in Birmingham has not been able to talk to her daughter at all.  She is getting calls from her, but either the service is so broken they can not hear or there is no connection at all.  Her daughter is the one that owns the store that they keep showing on TV that is damaged so badly in downtown Panama City.

PHYLLIS, know that I have sure been thinking about you and hoping that things are getting better around your place.  Yes, thank you for asking about Bob’s family..... there are several relatives and friends in the area. His sister, her husband, their son and his wife and son are the closest ones, but many cousins and friends still live there.  The worse part is that they can not contact anyone to let them know how they are.....and as I said, they have no idea of the horrible disctruction as the6 do not have access to TV or anything.  Many are just stranded in place.  We do not own any property there now, so we do not have that worry, but know that one cousin that still lives right there has lost her home.....no one has talked to her, but heard that she did get out of there and is staying in another relatives home west of tow; where there was minimal damage.

I must run, but just wanted to have some contact.

Bob and I did get our flu shots yesterday.....we always get them and have managed to not have any adverse reactions.  We asked about the new shingles shots....we are ON A LIST to have ours but we’re told it may be spring before we will get started with the two of them as they are in such short supply!

My best to you all.

Jenny

JENNY, saying prayers for your family and all the victims of Michael's devastation!  My heart aches for them!

I finished my list for today and then some.  I'm ready for tomorrow.  I have a list and I'm sticking to it.  It works for me!

Good night my friends!  Sleep peacefully and deeply and wake to a new day.  I wish you smiles!

Good Sunday morning.

I am surprised that I am the first one here this morning.

Jane,   I am thinking that I might be able to get more things done if I made a list.  I think you have a good idea, there.  I plan things but don't always carry through with my plans.  Glad you got a lot done.

I was up around 4 and then decided to just sit in the recliner instead of going back to bed.  I have a heating element in my chair, so I just huddled down under my nice warm fleece afghan and turned the heating element on and it wasn't long before I went back to sleep.  It is really chilly this morning.  But, now I am up, have had breakfast and checking in here.;

My son came last evening and I had asked him to stop and get some dinner for us.  He had some kind of shrimp, scallops on pasta and I had 3 large stuffed shrimp.  It was stuffed with a crab mixture and I only  ate 2 of them, so  will have the other one for dinner tonight, along with most of the leftover salad that came with it.  It was so good.

I want to do some laundry today.  Sunday is a good day as the laundry room is not usually that busy.  I have not done any myself yet, since I have been back home.  My DIL had taken some to do for me, so I will be on my own this time.  THe laundry room is right across the hall from me, so it isn't a long way to go.  I can put it in and  come back to my apt.

My oldest son and his wife and some other friends are on their way home from a week's vacation in Italy.  I checked the flight and it hasn't  been in the air that long.  They won't get into Dulles until almost 4 this afternoon.  I am always glad when I can see that they have landed.  It usually takes an hour or more to get out of that airport with having to go through customs,  and another hour's drive home.  Dulles is a terrible airport to get into and get out of.

I hope everyone will have a nice Sunday.

Joy

Good Brrrr morning everyone. 37° and some frost. Could see it on all the cars when I pulled up the shades. Our maintenance man gets paid for 40 hours a week and on week ends he takes off but his wife or someone must have called him back because he was here yesterday morning he was here and turned the heat on. Much appreciated by all of us with the rain and cold temperatures. If he stays here on the week ends some call him to fix this or do that. They do not seem to realize he is not getting paid then. They own a place in Conn. and that is where he goes on Friday after work. The witch will not pay him for overtime.

LARRY  I try getting outside every day, want some fresh air and some walking. Now that the heat is on in the building we are not allowed to open windows because the heat will go out the windows, even if the thermostats are turned off. So says the witch.

JENNY  it is a worry when you cannot get in touch with family and friends. On the 21st we will get our flu shots here in the building. They will also have the new pneumonia and shingles shots. Nice not to have to go out to get them. All we have to do is put our names on the list down in the laundry room and have our medical cards with us.

JANE  I did sleep good last night and feel rested this morning, first time I feel this good waking in awhile.

JOY  your shrimp sound like something I would love. Like you I like being able to keep track of flights when family is flying.

AMY  with it being darker in the mornings that is why you are sleeping later. That is my excuse.

Have a good day.

Jenny, it is so worrying for you and Bob not knowing about the family.  I do hope that communications in Florida will get better soon and you can finally find out how everyone is doing.  I pray that there will be only good and reassuring news for you.

Rain is coming in today around noon, so they say.  We don't really need it right now but, God's will be done.

Amy, I sure would love a piece of fresh baked apple pie.

Please take care, everyone.

Hi Everyone. It looks like it will be another very pleasant day getting up to around 80 degrees late this afternoon.  It is in the 50's right now.  I am ready for Sunday School and Church and have everything laid out to fix Pat's breakfast when she arises in a few minutes.  As of now I expect she will want me to come home and get her for Church.  We will then go out to eat somewhere.  I will rest when we get home and then watch some more pro football games from the comfort of my easy chair.

Yesterday afternoon we went to Texas Roadhouse for our main meal.  It was the first time Pat had gone to a restaurant using her Rollator and it worked well.  When we got to the table I folded it up and set it at the end of the table.  Fortunately, the isles were wide.  I did go to my meeting yesterday morning and then stopped at Aldi's as planned.  Unfortunately, neither South Carolina nor Georgia won their college football games yesterday.

There are quite a few postings since I posted fairly early yesterday morning.  Since I have limited time available this morning I will not attempt to reply to everyone, although each of you are equally important to me, but will try to keep comments brief.

Amy, it has been years since I last slept on sheets that had been hung outside to dry but I can still recall the very pleasant scent that they have as they came off the line.

Jenny, you sure do have ties to the Panama Beach situation.  Glad that Bob's sister and husband are OK and have a roof over their heads and food and water.  I am sure there are a lot of very anxious people either waiting to hear from friends and relatives that live in those areas or to actually see the damage that has occurred.  I read yesterday about Tinsdale AFB and the terrible damage done there and that families will not be able to return to the housing for sometime until it can be repaired.

Jane, working from a list is a good way to get a lot of things done and it is a joy to be able to mark off each item as it is accomplished.  It also helps to keep one focused on one task at a time and thus get a lot done.

Joy, I usually don't see my list as a "must do" that day but as a memory aid that something needs to be done.  A lot of things we want to do don't require immediate attention.  Those stuffed shrimp sound great.  I brought home most of my pulled pork yesterday from Texas Roadhouse as I had filled up on their delicious dinner rolls and then the baked sweet potato was served with a large ball of butter and another of brown sugar.  The brown sugar sort of killed my taste buds and I won't order it again.  I agree that Dulles airport isn't a pleasant place to deal with since you have to get off the plane and into another big vehicle to get to the terminal.  It is also a very busy place.

Amy, I can almost smell that apple pie baking.  It sure sounds good.

Gloria, sure glad you now have heat as otherwise it would be pretty cold in your apartment with such a low temperature outside. Nice to see you slept well and are feeling rested today.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Please excuse my word slurring.  My mouth is full of apple pie.  Thank you AMY.

JOY and LARRY, if I don't make a list I find, when the day is done, that I've forgotten a couple of the really important things I wanted to do.  When I have a list and check things off, I have a feeling of accomplishment.

JOY, when I was returning from Europe with a group of 40 Girl Scouts and leaders, we were the last plane allowed to land at Dulles due to the tail end of a hurricane hitting the area.  Our bus got as far as New Jersey and was not allowed to go any further.  We were stranded at Dulles for 15 hours!  That's an experience I don't want to duplicate!  However, our kids were great!  The youngest was barely 14 and the oldest had turned 18 on the trip.  Not one of them complained and they all made themselves available to watch luggage while Mom took kids to the rest room, run to the restaurants for food for elderly travellers and help people with whatever they needed.  I found out months later that one of the girls spent her last $15.00 on food for an elderly couple and they did not pay them.  Lots of people came over and complimented us on the kindness and good manners of our kids.  An elderly lady in a wheelchair joined our party and I found out later that she had arrived just before we did from Mexico and had no warm clothing.  I noticed that she was wearing a coat that belonged to one our our leaders. I was one proud leader...very tired but very proud!

Now I've finished my lunch and I'm going to do my crossword puzzle and then get on with my list.  I have about 2/3 of the groceries put away and finishing that is next on the list.  Then change clothes and get busy.

Enjoy your day Everyone and enjoy the pie.

Good afternoon, suppose to be the only sunny day this week. it is almost 3 and  andit is still cloudy

Phyllis good  to see you posting. I cannot believe N.C was hit twice. Jenny glad you heard from your family. I cannot imagine not being able to get intouch with family, so few have phone contacts. My DIL was lucky, she also stayed in her house. She said she was 50 miles west of Panama City. I was telling her to go to the AFB,as she is retired AF.  The one in Panama City was whipped out.

Larry, I know Pat will keep on enjoying her rollator. It took me a while, but I take it everywhere, sometimes i do take the cane, if I have a short ways to go

Jane, that was quite and adventure with the GS. I know you were proud of them

Amy thanks for the piece of pie, whipped cream made it taste better

A good Sunday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.  It is very cold here and we do have snow on the ground.  I am sure thankful I do not have t9 go to a mile High Stadium to watch my Broncos today!  Been there done that way to9 many times.  Now there is not enough $$ to make me leave my recliner and go to a live game!  Yep, I am a sissy😍😍

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the caring comments about our family in Florida.  We also heard from Bob‘s nephew last night.  He was able to drive to Destin to buy gasoline as well as a AT&T telephone as it seems they have the best coverage. He bought food and tarps and nail to help out anyone in need as well as for himself and his family.  He said the workers that have restored power to the area are hero’s!  He said there are so many people out doing what ever they can to help those in need.

JANE, what a story you share with us today about the conditions after the Girl Scout trip when you returned from Europe.  Heart warming!

GLORIA de, I am so happy your DIL is safe.  Thankfully most that are west of PC BEACH were blessed to not have any sever damage.  I truthfully can not get the carnage out of my mind....there is so many that are suffering and are in need.  We are certainly lucky that our family members still have homes to be in.  Yes, Tyndall AFB is virtually distroyed!

AMY, that is the best apple pie I think I have EVER tasted!  Thank you for sharing!

LLOYD, I am soo happy for you and Nancy as you prepare to leave in your new motor home!

Yummmm, LARRY.  Glad the rollator is working well for Pat and you were able to enjoy a meal at TX Roadhouse.

GLORIA, bless your maintenance man for coming back to get your heat turned on!  Good to read that your flu shots as well as shingle and pneumonia shots are scheduled.  We are going to check around and make sure we can not find a place to get started with the new shingles shot.  We have not heard before that they are in short supply like the pharmacist that gave us our flu shot implied.

JOY, your meal last night sure sounded yummy...glad you enjoyed it and will enjoy the leftovers today.

JUNE, goodness, what was the emergency that you had to have a blood draw in the middle of the night?  Shame on that nurse interrupting your precious sleep!  I do hope you are feeling chipper today.

I am going to go put a pork tenderloin in the oven for dinner.  We like to eat our big meal at half time of the game.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Jenny

It is nice to read eveyrone's notes.  The sun is shining in between heavy showers.  Don is trying to work on our t.v reception - he does not want to pay for someone to go into the attic and put up an antenna in that spot.  Instead, he bought another indoor antenna and wouldn't you know - a former shopper has already used and returned it.  Not a good sign.

Otherwise, it is good to concentrate on what is good news and how fortunate we are not to be losing house, job and all.  I am reminding myself of the "good" things today.

Jenny:  So happy that your family is safe.  Our daughter said they had 12 inches of snow at their house - north of DEN.

Jane, what a nice story about your trip with your Girl Scout troop.  Sounds like the good leadership that was with them had taught them well and they sure proved it by being so helpful.  It is so nice to hear some positive stories about our young people.  So many times they get a really bad rap.  There are lots of good, caring young people out there.  Just don't hear much about all the good things that they do. At least,   it probably helped the time go faster while you were stranded at Dulles.

I have done well today with my "sort of list".  Made time to do 30 min. of leg exercises and getting ready to do 30 more of arm strengthening ones.  I don't have any weights, so the OT has me using cans of spaghetti sauce,  And, they can get heavy after 30 reps.

Also did 2 loads of laundry and got them all put away.  Straightened out a couple drawers while I was putting the clothes away.   I have 4 or 5 tops that I don't put in the dryer hanging in the shower.  These new washers have an drying cycle and most of the things are almost dry when they come out.  So, it doesn't take long for them to dry on hangers.

I am pleased with how much I got done today, and it didn't really seem like the big chore I was expecting.  I am learning to spread my time out and rest in between, instead of trying to do so much at a time.

Jenny,  yes, I plan to enjoy my left over stuffed shrimp.  And, I have enough salad and fresh broccoli to go with it.

I want to watch the Hallmark movie tonight.  They are starting to show their holiday movies.

Have a good evening.

Joy

JOY, you are right about the kids being good ones.  We had our place established around our luggage and anyone who sat, was on the floor watching our luggage.  The kids were all over the place.  There was a very quiet bus on the way home.  I think everyone slept all the way from Dulles to Harrisburg, PA.

I finished my list after I (sort of) cheated a little.  I decided that it would be better to put off rolling the potpie dough until I have a place big enough to do it....namely, the dining room table. The dining room is still stuffed with living room furniture waiting for the carpet to b cleaned on Tuesday.

This left me time for a nap and I must have really needed it because I slept soundly for about an hour and a half.  I did more grocery shopping and putting away today than I do in a month when I'm not having company.  I even bought baby food!

Now I'm ready to hit the hay!  Tomorrow morning is a WM work day.  Wish me short lines and lots of smiles.  The rest of my list for tomorrow is making dr. appts (2 of them)  for after the gang goes home.

Sleep well, my friends and wake to a happy day.
