Denver

A good Wednesday HELLO to all.

We enjoyed our drive home from Vail yesterday.  Not much evidence of the snow storm that we had.  We did have one tree in our yard that did not fair too well....three big branches were dangling, but we were very thankful to see the tree in our front yard was just fine.  Email from the HOA said there were many branches broken and the clean up could take as much as a week.

CAROL, once again we missed getting together with you and Don.  Happy for you to be back in Tucson to enjoy the warmer winter.  I remember well getting things up and running in the other location when we were snow birds.  It just takes time.  The hard freeze took toll on all of the beautiful yard plants.  😪  I am NOT ready to have winter😤

Stories continue from our friends in Sonoma County. We just feel so bad for them as everything is gone....even the fireproof safe and all the contents are gone....money, jewelry and important documents.  Guns in a gun safe! Etc.  our dear friend said she at least had the clothing on her back....one lady was in Target shopping with her bathrobe and slippers.  They had minutes to get out....no warnings at all, just woke up to embers flying past their bedroom window.....they were out in less than 7minutes!

LARRY, they say the cataract removal is an easy surgery, and I certanly wish you the best on both of them.

It is much later....many interruptions, so I had best get this posted RIGHT NOW.

ENJOY the rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND.

JENNY

GLORIA, I thank you for sharing your two oldie stories with us.  They are very true.

JOAN, bless your boy for bringing you breakfast.....

My computer has been misbehaving. I have been having problems with Jacquie Lawson card for weeks now. And there is no way I can contact them by phone as far as I know. I leaves me frustrated, angry, disappointed, and after years of paying for the service.

I did have a very good morning. My Gary did the Bible class today. Of course I am biased, but he is a great speaker and teacher. Keeps me on the edge of the pew.

Do you ever get the feeling that you have taken on too much and sort of painted yourself into a corner ? It is not a good feeling. Each morning I plan to finish at least one thing I have started. From where I am sitting, I find seven things waiting to be taken care of...mostly paper work....oh....I just noticed another one....I feel I would like to put on my pajamas, close the blinds, take some sleeping pills, (which I don't have) , cover up my head and let the world go on turning while I take a time-out. And putting all that in print makes me realize what a hypocrite I am. So very much to be thankful for, so many of you loving, caring, God loving,  wise people out there. So I will cease moaning, and go tackle one of those waiting Piles of "things to do".
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Jenny, glad to see you got home OK, and not as much tree damage you thought you would have.

June, A couple of years ago I had a problem with JL.. they said, i had not paid, it took me nearly a month to get straighten out it seem their main office is in England.

Weird stuff is still happening with my computer, so if I don't get in, you will know why. I'll call for my girl helper tomorrow and see if she can straighten things out. I may have to turn to my lap top....which is hard to see the print. Maybe she can fix that up too. Whatever, time to fix my left-overs for supper. Love and Hugs dear hearts. June

I met a lady today that you would all be proud to call a friend.  She came through my line and I thought she was probably about my age (82).  We chatted as I checked her out and she told me her husband had passed away about 3 years ago and she sometimes gets so lonely for someone to talk to.  She said she wished we lived near each other so we could share a cup of coffee and a chat now and then.  Then she told me she's 92 years old and still living alone and taking care of her own needs.  I swear, I would never have thought she was 92.  She still drives herself, does her own cooking and cleaning and cares for her home.  And the only thing she admitted to suffering was a touch of lonliness.  I should be so lucky!  I won't forget her very soon.

And I'm going to say my Good night now so I don't forget it later like I did last night.

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

June, I am another with so many things piled up to do that I can't imagine ever getting everything done at once.... by the time I take on a couple jobs there is a trail behind me starting to build up again.  I need to get rid of "stuff"..... discouraging but we can't give up!

Jane, I met a woman like that in the store one day, not that old but that lonely.  After getting home I was sorry I didn't give her my phone number to call sometime, when she wanted to talk.... but I didn't.  (((hugs to you)))

I finally called my cousin today to ask permission to post his analogy of "SAD".... he is a retired journalist & does have a degree so not surprising when he produces something that hit home like this piece.  Mind you, I read it after spending a few days missing old school friends & so many family members my home town seemed empty.  I know my cousin wrote it after losing his wife in a freak accident, he was devastated and put into words how he felt.  When I asked if I could post it because "we had all lost so many loved ones I thought everyone could relate".  He said he would be honored.  Hope y'all know what axle grease is like.........
********

Sad Sticks Like Axle Grease...   by John Oidtman

Sad sticks like axel grease. It wakes you in the night. Sad is there in a photograph or a recipe for beef stew. Sad is in the front seat of the car--you check your passenger not there. It's on the other side of the bed or in the empty chair at the table.

Sad can leave for a while and reappear in a slow rain or the long-ago sound of a songbird. You find ways to brush it aside for a time--friends or family visit, projects busy your mind and your hands.

Sad rides back on a sound from years past, a vision, a smell or a dream. You try to once again figure it out, to get on with life, to justify or make sense of the hole in your existence.

There should be something to fill the void. You wonder if you should work extra hard or not at all. Should you read a book, watch TV, or clean the house. It doesn't seem to matter. Sad is stuck to you like axle grease.

In the end you know there will never be another--such a special, beautiful, caring soul to fill the sad and make it go away.
That's what makes it all so sad.

Tisie, your cousin is ever so right.  Now, I wish he could write about "little secret smiles" that those who have passed on gives us.  And even make us laugh out loud when your memory is tickled about some long forgotten memory.  I once told someone who had just lost his father that his lonesomeness and grief would eventually pass and be replaced by his great memories of times past.   Of course "sad' will always have its place there in your memories.  I guess what I am saying is that sad will always be there but happy thoughts will eventually push sad to the side and in a side passage of your mind.  But, you know what, you and everyone of us know all that I have said.  Because we have all lost one or more of someone very close.

Well once again it is the close of another day.  Just to complete my day I got my property taxes in the mail.  Now that is SAD especially when you know how your tax dollars are being spent.  You know, like, the police having to guard a statute of Columbus in one of our local parks.

Good nite Everyone, God Bless and sweet dreams.

Amy

Good morning everyone...

Temp is right on the 0° this morning. A day of playing catch up here, dust bunnies corralled, laundry folded and if the gazebo cover is dry enough taken down and put away for another year.

Shirley, thoroughly enjoyed the Axle Grease, how true that is!

Gloria, enjoyed Ode To Old Age and can relate to it. Many times I have gone down stairs to get something only to come up empty handed,so back down I go again. I think it is Gods way of giving me exercise!!

Jane ,what a delight to have that lady go through your line.Maybe next time she shops she will look for you?

Better scoot ..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning Everyfriend!  I'm late coming in this morning.  We slept in a bit (until 630 this morning) and then we waited out the doggies pills on the sofa.  I slept pretty soundly for another 45 minutes and now we've had breakfast and I'm having coffee while I visit with friends.

I could use a few extra prayers tomorrow morning for my SIL Craig.  He's having bowel surgery.  I've already asked for a skillful surgeon and a speedy recovery.  I think my daughter will have her hands full.  I suspect he's not going to be an easy patient.  Like most men, he doesn't like being sick or dependent.

Amy, I hope you're right about the nice lady looking me up because I regret not having exchanged phone numbers.  If I hadn't been so busy I'd hzve thought of thate before but I had a line.

The only thing on my agenda today is to get my desk cleaned off.  I wonder where it is?  I bet it's over there under that pile of papers!  I'm determined!  I'll find it wherever it is!

The rain has stopped but it's not supposed to get above 60 today.  That's not as cold as your temp, Amy and I sure hope you're quoting in Celsius. 0º F. would be way too cold!

I wish you all a good day. Take it and make it your own.

Hi Everyone.  This morning is starting out to be foggy and muggy and we will once again get into the high 80's that afternoon.  We have to get around fairly early this morning as Pat has a doctor's appointment that is about 30 minutes drive from the house and we will need to leave a little after nine this morning.  That should pretty much be it for the day.  I won't be going to coffee nor to the Wisdom group, although it we get home early enough I might go downtown to the Wisdom group.

We had a very delicious meal at church last evening as we had Southern Fried Chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad and a nice dessert.  After dinner Scott came out and spent the evening with us.  While here he put in a couple of light bulbs and changed the furnace filter and we had a lot of good visiting.

Joy, nice to be able to sleep in on occasion.  Since Pat is now fixing her own breakfast I don't necessarily have to be the first one up but still usually am up before her.  Last night she had to spend most of the night in her easy chair as her head was so stopped up she couldn't get comfortable laying down.

Carol, do you use a swamp cooler for your day time cooling or do you have an air conditioner?  I hope things are soon in order down your way so you can relax and enjoy each day.

Jenny, does your HOA take care of the broken branches?  It doesn't sounds like some of the fireproof safes were very fireproof.  Those fires are certainly a terrible disaster.  I saw a headline yesterday that now more than 3500 structures have been burnt and that number is probably higher today.

June, the Jacquie Lawson company is British if I recall correctly.  We like the site and have had an annual subscription for two or three years.  We just forget to use it very often.  Do they not respond to your emails?  I would think there should be a way to reset your password as almost all websites have that capability anymore.  I see Gloria has indicated the same as to the location of the company.

Jane, it is so sad when someone suffers from loneliness.  I take it she doesn't live in your area.

Shirley, thanks for sharing that piece by your cousin.  He certainly captured the feeling of loneliness that can overcome us at a moments notice.

Hal, you are so right in that we do ourselves great harm when we dwell in sadness for extended periods of time. Those tax bills seem to come around often.  After living in South Carolina close to three years I finally got notice that my homestead exemption had taken effect and had reduced my property taxes by almost $200.  That will help offset the upcoming increase in health insurance premiums.  That must really be a boring job for a policeman to have to guard a statue.  Tolerance to another viewpoint seems to be a diminishing thing in our society.

Amy, those dust bunnies can really get a head start on us at times.  I hope you are able to get your gazebo cover put away before bad weather hits your area.

Lloyd, I liked your comments to June.

Jane, sure hope the surgery for your SIL goes well. I don't think men do pain and suffering very well.  :)  Hope you can have a restful day.

Gloria

Good morning everyone,  53° to start the day and it was a good sleeping night, no AC running.  If this keeps up I might get the AC put away and get some space added to this room. Still rather have a window one than a portable one.

HAL  California had a lot of rain earler this year and that meant a lot of brush growing. I feel bad for all those people who lost every thing they owned and all the lives lost.

JOAN  so good seeing you the last few mornings, like old times. I have recieved a few good emails lately that I could share here. Not like the goodies you always found but better than nothing? This morning I was awakened by the landscapers here doing their job. Seems like they always start under my windows at 7am sharp.

LLOYD  hope you got help with your foot.

LARRY  my grandson cannot figure out what is wrong with this PC but I just do not enjoy using it. He did mention reformatting it but the thought of having to install evrything again is more than I can face these days. Lost track of how many times I have done that with this machine.

Just heard on the news that the first lawsuit against the Manadaly hotel in Los Vegas has been filed. Bound to happen I guess. This country has become too sue happy IMHO. Not enough security and someone should have seen the shooter bringing all those guns in and seen him setting up cameras in the hallway.

JENNY  you and I differ because I look forward to winter.  SHIRLEY and I both do not care for summer.

JUNE  like you I have been having problems with the Jacquie Lawson cards. I do not think I will join again but I do so love all their creations. I have emailed them so many times and get replies to do this or that but nothing helps. I would not want to pay for a phone call to England.

GLORIA de  right, JL is in England. They must have changed something there or they have gotten too big and do not know how to handle it.

JANE  there are several ladies here in their 90's and are so lively, a still drive and go out almost every day.

SHIRLEY  your cousin said it all about Sad. Thanks for posting it.

HAL  having problems with Columbus statues in Texas, too? After all these years just one more thing for jerks to riot about.

AMY  for me now it is going down in the elevator and remembering something and coming back up. Maybe I like going up and down in that little box of an elevator?

JANE  prayers for Craig for a successful surgery. May God guide the surgeon's hands.

Good morning. :)  Here on the Oregon coast we're are supposed to have rain today.  Sure wish I could send some to California.

I'm another one who likes Fall and Winter.  I've always liked the sound of rain and watching it on the windows.  My sisters fights depression in the winter, so did my mom, so I used to feel guilty about enjoying it so much.  SAD is real, but I'm glad it doesn't effect me.

Jane, that special woman you met sounds absolutely beautiful.  I would hope I can still be as independent as I am now when I'm 92.  I have family near, so I don't get lonely.  I'm such an introvert, anyway, so being alone as never bothered me, as long as I have things to do.  Of course, I do miss having my canine kiddos, but I won't have another pet.

speaking of clutter and getting rid of things.  I did that awhile back....for about a week I daily found things to let go of. Some things I'd held on to for years and years....just in case....and I'd forgotten why I ever kept it in the first place. Anyway...after letting a lot go...I can't even remember what it was, and I've certainly never needed it since.  I think I'll do it again.   My initial reason was that I'd hate for the kids to have to go through all this stuff when I'm gone.  I don't want it.  They won't want it.  Why keep it?  I think this winter would be a good  time to do it again.

Have a blessed day, everyone.

Good Morning Everyone from
the sunny but cooler rocky coast of Maine!

Hi Nita,  good to see you are posting.
I know how you feel about loving animals but
choosing not to have them again.

Animals take a lot of care and work.    And so don't
we as we get older.   I am always trying to
get my apartment organized and freed up from the
clutter.      Today just happens to be the day that
the inspectors come to check out our apartments.

Not everyone,  but  a few that they choose to
check up on.   I am ready for them, as usual.

I wish everyone a good day.

Good morning Everyfriend.  I hardly slept last night, so my activity today will be limited.  Linda and Ed have much more damage than the originally thought - around 50 thousand dollars according to a contractor.  That is what happens when you live on the water.  Joe and Kate were finally able to access their beach house at Dauphin yesterday - only the driveway washed out.  In past tears they have had to completely rebuild if you remember.

I will air it up extra tight and drive it to town and get it fixed. I do not want to get that doughnut out from underneath and use it. have a great afternoon.

Later getting in here today.

The morning took me longer to get moving.  Had a bunch of junk mail to go through and either shred or black out my name and address.  Had to order some new checks and found out I had to do it either over the phone or through the bank's online ordering.  It went pretty smooth until it came up that I would have to pay $28.14 for postage.  Just as I was about to cancel the order, that amount was for expedited mailing.  I don't need them for a while, so I sure didn't want to pay that kind of money for postage.  After checking down the page,  there was another option for standard delivery that was no charge.  It also came up where they was a charge for the checks, and I have never had to pay for my checks before.  When the final page came up,  they had deducted the charge and I wound up not owing anything.   I am glad that I kept scrolling down the page before I clicked on the order box,  Certainly could wind up being very confusing to some people. It was a lot easier when they just included a re-order slip in with checks and all I had to do was take it to the bank.  So many companies just cannot keep things simple.

it is just so nice to see messages from Joan, now.  It just seems like the old times now, with her checking in each day.  Sorry that the hurricane caused much more damage than was thought at first.  But, as she said,  that is the perils of living on the water.

The devastation from all those fires in California is just so heartbreaking.  It just must be such a terrible feeling when they finally realize the people have lost everything.  Jenny mentioned about her friends and then the lady that was shopping still in her bathrobe and slippers.  But, some of the people I heard  interviewed on TV were determine that they would rebuild.  So sad for the people affected and for the fireman trying to put out the fires.

With all the devastation that has been happening over the past few months......hurricanes and the fires....  it seems like "somebody" is really trying to "tell us something". Thoughts and prayers go out to all who are affected.

It is a dreary, cloudy misty day here and the temperature sure has gone down.  I think out summer temperatures have probably  began to go away.  I know there are a lot of you that like the cold, but I sure am not looking forward to it. But, will have to deal with it when it does come.

Hope every friend will have a nice rest of the afternoon and a good evening.

Hi everyone!  Been a kinda busy day.  I didn't sleep well last night and then up early for bible study and mens breakfast and then a small task to handle and then back to my house.  Visions of a quite afternoon, having the house to myself, wife and daughter out shopping.  Instead a relative dropped by to visit and finally  they left so on the couch I flopped and of course the phone started its thing.  I finally got a very small nap in and after wife came home we went out to eat at the Texas Road House, nice ribs for both my wife and I.  And I picked up the tab since the kids are always doing something nice for us.

Now I am "fixing" to climb into bed and put me to sleep.

Joanie, I second all those that say it is so nice to have you back, it really is.

Nite, nite; sweet dreams and God bless.

Good morning everyone...

Dogs decided that I should get up...their decision..not mine! I can see a cat nap in my future today.

Yesterday was productive, managed to put away all the patio furniture, take the gazebo down and I did get some sewing in. Also fixed my hot tub, to have the repair man come out is pricey,so I phoned and told Mike he is going to talk me through it. Thankfully it was just a fuse that needed replaced and I now know where they are and how to replace them saving me 100.00 +

Not sure what today will bring, still need to put the run on some dust bunnies.Plus my desk is in dire need of a cleaning!

Lloyd, hope you got your flat fixed, did you pick up a nail in your tire?

Sandy, our pets come first, they have us well trained. :smitten:

Joy ,glad you kept on reading and now have your checks at no extra cost!!

Nita, I too love the rain, sound, smell and one can almost hear the dry ground sigh with delight.

Gloria, you have more patience than I would have with that computer. HP should be ashamed at what they have put you through with it. Going to make apple crisp with the remaining apples today, vanilla ice cream should go well with it for supper.

Larry, your church dinner sounds lovely. Hope your toes have healed for you.

Hal,someone said to me that our dogs are spoiled, told them no,just well loved the way they should be. But they make me mutter when they get me up before my time  :2funny:

Joan, happy to see you getting stronger each day, slow and steady wins the race here.

Jane ,yes that was C not F it is 10C here this morning. I am sitting on the fence here about my geraniums.  I want to try and keep them over, in the past I haven't had much luck but maybe this time. They are still blooming and it is a shame to see them get killed by the frost. Prayers for Craig this morning that all goes well and a speedy recovery on his part.Prayers for you also as I know you must be worried also.

June, hope you had a restful sleep last night, ready to meet the day with vim and vigor :)

I will check in again after while to see who all are up and at them.yesterday Nancy and I canned 12 quarts of halves and peaces  of pears and 9 pints of pare butter.  that was about 1/2 of the pare's we had. we will repeat to day and that will be all for this year of the pears.  will make good eating and good Christmas peasants. c u all later.

JaneS

Good morning Everyfriend!  Thank you, Amy for the prayers for Craig and for me, too.  You're right!  I'm am worrying about him.  But he's a good guy and God will be with him!

I've developed a new routine for the days I need to work.  When the doggies come in and have their pill and we go into wait time, I take my shower and make the bed and then I come to the computer.  It worked well on Tuesday and Wednesday and today's another day.

They're coming up to get my grandniece from college this afternoon and my sister is riding shotgun with my niece.  They're coming a bit early so we can exchange hugs.  I love it with they do that for the old ladies.  It will only be a short visit but it sure beats nothing!

Lloyd, do you use pear butter like a spread or is it more like applesauce?  I don't think I've ever had that.  You and Nancy sure won't starve when the snow flies!

I wish you all a good day and I'll let you know the results when I hear from Cathy about Craig's procedure.

JaneS Kinda sorta both. we cook it down until it gets thick enough to heap up on a spoon,at least after it is cool. we like to make toast and use real butter spread it while the toast is hot so it will melt in good then put a good layer of the pear butter on it.hope if this makes your taste buds water you have something close to fix them. Have a great day.

Good morning everyone, first thing I did this morning was turn the thermostat up, got down to 32° and cars have frost on them.About time we start having autumn weather, love it. Just realized that today is a Friday the 13th. Glad I am not supersticious.

NITA  I have always loved snow and not that I no longer have to drive in it or shovel it I still love it and can sit in a window and watch the flakes coming down. I got rid of many things when I moved here and have tried going through boxes of pictures to get rid of some I know my  kids will not want but it is hard to throw them away for me, all have good memories attached to them.

JOAN  sorry Linda and ED had that much damage to their home but glad Joe only had the driveway washed away. I do remember when they had to rebuild on Dauphin. Hope you can get a restful nap later.

LLOYD hope the tire holds up till you can drive into town to get it fixed.

JOY  sound like a lot of postage for your checks. I will have to order some soon, too. I saw where some fighting those fires lost their own homes while they were elsewhere.

HAL  hope today is a quiet one for you.

AMY  I think that no matter how many times we clean our desks the next day every thing is a mess again. I still have a bag of apples and think I will make more applesauce. Easiest thing I can think of. Believe me, I no longer enjoy my computer but right now I cannot afford to replace it. As long as  can get here to the SS, check my email and Skype with my daughter every day I am almost content.

JANE  prayers for Craig today.

Strange Idle Thoughts

Why, Why, Why

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are going dead?

Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough money?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why doesn't glue stick to the bottle?

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use, the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?"

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

And my FAVORITE......

The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you !

Good Morning Everyone!

Well I got a decent nights sleep, thank you God.  And really wanted to lay in a little longer but my old nose decided it needed to start running and get stuffy.  If it isn't one thing it is another, guess I just need something to gripe about.

Lloyd did you get the tire fixed?  I was trying to think if I even had pear butter, lots of apple butter growing up but not for years.

Not much going on here today.  I have to do a little research on a defensive driving school course so I can get my ticket dismissed, HA, that's a joke, for all the fees they charge it is not cheap, but cheaper than the ticket.

Amy, about the Geraniums.  I know we don't get anywhere close to the cold you do, but i used to cover mine on frosty nights and they would do just fine and bloom their hearts out.  a little tip, real cold nights and days, in you case, put christmas lights on them, not LED but regular lights and turn them on and in most cases it will keep them above freezing.  a friend of mine used to keep his tomato plants going in the winter using the christmas lights.  One of our local radio experts on flowers and gardens claims spraying plants with sea weed helps to raise teir freezing point.  I have never tried it.  But  Geraniums will live forever here if protected.

Gloria, go to this site and look it over, https://www.hellotech.com/geek-squad-isnt-best?phone=18009952131&gclid=CPL00v3Q7dYCFQGraQod3RgOaA
You can subscribe to it for 7 bucks a month and they will access your computer remotely and fix it for you.  Or for more money, naturally, they will send a tech to you for so many visits a year plus the remote access.  I don't get paid by these folks, but I do subscribe, the 7 bucks a month, and they have worked on my computer several times as well as help me install a new printer. Go to the website and talk to them they have a chat line.  They also have one time service but it is pretty pricey.

I go to get off here.

Gloria, I just checked prices:

and looks like they have gone up 2 bucks on their service.  But still, I think, a bargain.

Good morning Everyfriend.  Joe and Finlay were here to visit late yesterday afternoon.   After they left, during supper, Ed came with treats for snacking and stayed until about 7 p.m..  Linda had a 14 hour work day - from home - so was not able to come.

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we are in for a cloudy but cooler day with it only to get up to the low 80's this afternoon.  Yesterday was a pretty productive day for us.  Pat had her doctor's appointment.  Then on the way home she wanted to go to a particular department store called Roses for something and while she was shopping I went to the Bi-Lo grocery in the same shopping center and bought some groceries we needed.  It was around 1 pm before we got home and after a quick lunch I rested.  Then last evening at 6 pm we had a Homeowner's Association meeting for about an hour.  It was very informative and was glad I went.  We have an Association Management Company so our board of directors makes decisions but the lady who we hire to do the actual work does the rest.  We actually had several people volunteer to serve on the board.  Following the meeting I had to make a quick trip to Walmart to pick up some medications for Pat and also to get some fire ant killer as we have some in our back yard and I don't want them to spread.  I got home and ate supper and before long was in bed.  I had a very good nights sleep and now looking forward to a quiet day at home as we plan to stay home all day.  This evening I want to watch the Clemson/Syracuse football game and fortunately it starts at 7 am so should be able to stay awake to watch the entire game.

Gloria, I seem to have solved the problem I was having with my desktop after I went through and uninstalled a number of programs and did more maintenance and updating.  It was fine yesterday and seems to be fine today.  I guess I fail to see how a hotel can be responsible for the terrible things that happened there in Las Vegas.  However, I certainly don't have the facts that may exist that could justify law cases.  I hadn't thought about this being Friday the 13th until I read your posting this morning. I liked the humor you shared.

Nita, glad you are not affected with SAD as your mother and sister have been.  I have no trouble in keeping myself as busy as I want to be.  However, I do like being around other people.  I think I got that from my mother.  Like you I have things I don't even remember I have so certainly won't miss them.  In fact, I often find that when I look for things I do remember having I can't locate them.

Sandy, I remember over the years how often you have spoken of the de-cluttering process you often go through.  The next time I read you are doing it I wonder how you have managed to reacquire enough stuff to have to do the process again.  :)  Since you were ready for the inspection your apartment was probably not one of the ones chosen to be inspected.

Joan, that is a lot of damage that Linda and Ed experienced.  Was this damage to their main home or a vacation property.  Glad that Joe and Kate didn't sustain damage to their property.

Lloyd, hope that tire stayed up until you could get to where it could be fixed.  I hope the medication helps your foot problem.  Every time you write about your canning of things brings back such good memories of the many meals at our family table as I was growing up.

Joy, just how many checks were you ordering if the postage was going to be that high.  Glad to see you found standard postage would be no charge.

Hal, sometimes our nice quiet days don't turn out as planned.  I guess that is what keeps life interesting.  I hope you were able to get a good nights sleep last night.

Amy, glad you accomplished what you set out to do yesterday as well as save yourself money by replacing the fuse.  I hope your dust bunnies didn't multiply too much during the night. Maybe you won't be so busy today after all you accomplished yesterday.  My toes are doing OK.  I have decided today to leave the bandage off and let my toes get some air as won't wear socks.  I put my special shoes that the foot doctor sent me home in back on today to protect my toes and so I don't have to walk barefoot.  I finished up the antibiotic yesterday morning so hopefully will begin to feel a bit more energetic than the last few days.

Jane, it isn't going to help Craig one iota by your worrying about him.  You know that God is going to look after him and it sounds like he has a very positive attitude that will serve him well as he heals from the surgery.

Joan, when someone works from home as Linda did it isn't easy to get away from work as the office doesn't shut down as a regular office most often does.
