...not me, i never read it...Good night Jane, pleasant dreams, sleep tight, and dont let the bed-bugs bite...

Amy

Good morning...

A beautiful morning here 46° and sunny.

Not sure what is happening today other than pick up meds and maybe lumber for Kyles Swiss village.

Got my hair cut yesterday and I don't know what I like most the shampoo rub or the fact that it i now shorter!

Everything has been put away (for now) pertaining to canning. The border has been cut for the quilt waiting to be put on and binding to be cut...all in good time.

Jane, Happy Birthday to the kids. ALL of them!!

Gloria, when I brushed Golden Girl, I kept her fur and had ideas of spinning and using it but ..didn't get enough.

Patricia, that's going to seem forever to get your home back into shape!  You will be wearing winter coats before we do with your temps.

Best get a move on..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's a beautiful day here...a bit on the chilly side, 57º and only heading for 74 but the sun is shining!

AMY, ALL the kids thank you for the birthday wishes!

Cooper has arrived, had his breakfast, took a walk and took care of business.  Now he's settled down and I'm going to the kitchen and make something!  I'll let you know what later.  In the meantime, have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Gloria

Good morning everyone, a surprise! The sun is shining and 63. Last night's forecast said rain and severe thunderstorms all day. I'll  take this start better. Once those guessers were wrong. No Yvette yesterday, her knees acting up and she had to go see the doctor. Her boss did not let me know till almost noon time. Have no idea if she will be here today yet. I told her boss yest erday I wish she had called earlier and she told me she did not want  to wake me because I sleep late, Is this late? I told her she can always leave a message and I will get it. That is the reason I have an answering machine.

PATRICIA  the more I hear/read about the vaccine and the pros and cons of getting them the more I wish the man in the white house would shut up. He is not  in the medical field and does not  know everything. On October first we get the flu shots here. We get them here in the community room every year. List ening to some of the other tenants they do not know if it will interfere with the virus shots so will pass on the flu shots this year. I already sighed up for it like I do every year.

JANE  with all you do every day it is no wonder you are tired at the end of the day. I don't do much of anything yet I am always tired.

AMY  I love having someone wash my hair, so relaxing and now I have trouble with getting both arms up to wash it myself.

October was a month for me with a birthday on the 16-17 and 18th. sister Mom and sister. My daughters family is one near Thanksgiving, hers 12/27, SIL 1/1 and younger son  the beginning of February. All winter babies. My Dad was a groundhog 2/2.

No Lloyd this morning? Hope he is just sleeping late.

Have a good day and be safe.

Lloyd Hammond

Well good evening everyone. Looks Like my battery's is not all that went dead, No one has posted since I posted to AMY this morning, at 10:3o AM. so I wish you all good Night and sweet dreams and sweet dreams, I am going to the Hay stack and hoping to have as good of sleep as I had last Night.

Lloyd

I went down to the river tonight, only one carp showed up to eat. The water has been high or ground muddy for quite a while so guess the catfish found another eating hole. Also this stretch of the river is pretty shallow so expect hotter water than they like. Have 1 stalk of goldenrod & lots of ragweed & other weeds to choke up on. My nose is running & I'm sneezing like crazy. Do hope we get a hard freeze this year, I really don't remember much from last.

Got the last of the chemicals in the pool, still have "4 cap fulls" of something else to put in every week (along with the chlorine floaters). Hopefully that is the last BIG job before time to close it for the winter.

Callie decided to stay in the garage tonight, she just hides out & satisfied to sleep all night. I do have litter box, dry self feeder full & a bowl of water out there for her.

Good night, Lloyd, want me to turn out the lights?

.....And now I lay me down to sleep........Sweet dreams & God Bless.........

JaneS

Well, I did find something to do in the kitchen this morning.  I saved a recipe that called itself Coffee Jam.  It was made with strong coffee, apples, brown sugar, Gel substance and I forgot the spice. And I can't tell you if it's good yet because the leftover in the fridge wasn't ready when I wanted to test it and then I forgot about it.  I'll have it for breakfast and then report...if anyone shows up tomorrow!

After Frankie picked up Cooper, I hopped in the car and made a quick trip to Davy's and got more corn before it decides to quit coming on around here.  He still has the board in front of the store proclaiming "Fresh Local Corn, picked daily!  And it's beautiful.  I got enough to can 8 more pints and a little to eat right now.  It's all cleaned, cut off the cobs and waiting in the fridge to be canned tomorrow.  That's my job for tomorrow.

Then, Sunday, my youngest granddaughter, Kiran will be coming to spend the night here and then I'll drop her at school in the morning and pick her up in the afternoon.  She'll stay here until her parents get home from a business trip.  She hasn't stayed with me since she decided she was big enough to take care of herself and the dog after school about 3 years ago.  Frankie is going to stay, too.  FUN!

I'm going to hit the hay early tonight!  Tomorrow is going to be a busy day.  Lots to do so I can take Sunday off and play with my Granddaughters.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

OH WOW!  There you are AMY!  I didn't recognize you with your new hairdo!

Good morning...

Cool this morning, one of these days we will be having a fire on in the morning.  Jesse has already started to bring wood in at night...wonder if he knows something we don't??

Laundry today and a run to the one grocery store, the produce manager said he would have Macintosh apple in finally. Manage to finish the quilt yesterday so can start another. I was given some crazy looking fabric that would make a great skateboard quilt, that may be the next one.

Jane that Coffee jam sounds interesting..bet it smells good cooking!

Shirley, aka fish whisperer ,will the carp come back? You're not the only one wanting a hard freeze. Babe and the dog next door are allergic to whatever is in the grass and each will like their feet bare! Thankfully they are both on meds now but much nicer if the frost would take care of the problem.

Gloria, I hope the witch soon puts the heat on for you as it is getting cooler at night. I really hope when she is older and in a place like yours that someone treats her the same way.

Lloyd, hope you did get a good nights rest

Jenny, hope your shoulder is healing  and PT is coming along fine.

Best get a move on....lots to do today.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good morning everyone, 49 cool now, supposed  to feel like a fall day, yippee! Just the temperature I am happy with. One of the local TV stations is calling today 7/11 a celebration of what happened. How can they call today a celebration of what happened 20 years ago. Someone at that channel sure has no brains, no wonder I do not  watch that one much.

LLOYD  I keep several batteries ready to use when the ones in my mouse need replacing and also the ones in the TV remote.

SHIRLEY  my son closed his pool last weekend.

JANE  you have not mentioned Kiran in a long time. Will be interested in how you like that new jam is. Enjoy t he firls today, they are helping keep you so young.

AMY  that witch will get what  is coming to her in the end.

Have a good day and be safe.

It is a cool morning here, too.  I'm thinking that soon I should get out my long robe.  But, they keep telling us we will be back in the near 90's again next week so I may wait awhile.

I turned away from the tv because it was all about 9/11.  Please don't misunderstand me...I remember it vividly because it was a very long and painful day for Tom and me before we could find out, hours and hour later, if our son was safe since he worked very close to the World Trade Center and even had to go to it occasionally.  And, because it was such a terrible day I prefer not to relive it over and over.  But, I remember and say a prayer for those who died, and for those who lived.  And, I say a prayer for America because the days of coming together as a patriotic nation that happened after 9/11 seems to have now...twenty years later....disappeared.  And, once again, we are divided.

Sorry, it is a melancholy day.  So, I have turned to a live streaming picture of the beautiful blue ocean on the Outer Banks at Atlantic Beach where the waves are rolling in and everything is peaceful.

Take care, All.

Good Morning everyone. Yes I had according to the tatletail 7.5 hours Of sleep. I have to run G D is ready to take us to get our van out of the shop, it is ready.

Good morning from an Interior presently at 43° with an expected high of 57°. Our trees are looking very drab with some yellow and red spots.

I seem to be among the minority that is not looking forward to winter. The loss of light and cold temperatures and the genuine possibility of having most of my living room wall open to the elements while they spend the day putting in a screened sliding glass door doesn't appeal.

We don't have heat yet. They turn it on in October. I have a portable electric heater that I run periodically during the day if needed. Supposedly, the new windows and door will prevent those air leaks.

As to 9/11, remember that old quote from George Santayana, "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." And we do, repeatedly.

Jane, I looked up coffee jams, and it seems to include jello and or caramelized apples? I know you will enjoy having Kiran for the night along with Frankie and Cooper!

JaneS

I'm in the middle of my list for today and taking a short break.  I tried the Coffee Jam on a bagel for breakfast this morning and it's pretty good.  It kind of tastes like applesauce in coffee.  PATRICIA, there's no jello in my recipe....just apples, coffee, certo, and spice.  And I like it

Cooper and I were almost home from our morning walk when a VEE of geese flew over us and they were definitely headed South.  I think it's Fall.  I'm also one who is not a fan of Winter.  If I had to choose a season, Spring would be first and I wouldn't mind if it would last until Fall and then Fall could just stick around until Spring!  What a nice year that would be!

I have 6 more pints of corn ready for "when the snow flies".  I really want to find an electric pressure canner.  I had to jars burst in this canner.  I think way too much of the steam escapes because there sure wasn't much water left in the canner and there was plenty to start with.  At least it didn't explode on the ceiling like my mother's tomatoes did back in the "olden days".

I have one more chore to take care of before I can quit for the day.  Cooper and I checked out the tomato plants and we brought in 5 more tomatoes.  From now on, I'm just going to clean them and pack them in containers and freeze them until I have enough to make more spaghetti sauce....I think!

And I forgot that today was the day the recycling center was ope in the morning.  Now I have to wait 2 weeks until they're open again and I have a lot of stuff!

I hope everyfriend is having a good day!

And a good night to all, fleeting moments during the day thinking about 9/11 and the horror of that day. In MY mind it had the same effect as Pearl Harbor, realizing that "life would never be the same as before".

Why is it that WE can't seem to believe that other people really can be so desceitful, so lacking in human respect? What do we face next, along that cruel line? No answers here, I find it easier & easier to hide out in my little world of family & animals.

So, peace and love to all of you on this day, and wishing everyone a happier day tomorrow!

Coming in feeling sad that a few days have passed without me posting😩😪. Seems one day turns into the next and I really have nothing to talk about🤪😘

AMY, thank you for asking.....I am very happy to say my shoulder is doing very well.  I can not move it at all and have to be in the sling all the time except when I shower or my PT is working with it.  There is very little movement allowed.....nothing away from the side of my body. Just a bit of movement forward and back a tiny bit and my arm layed out by my side to stretch the elbow.  My surgery was two weeks yesterday.  Four more weeks in the sling and then some movement is allowed. My pain is totally bearable.....nothing like the horrible pain I have had since my first surgery in early April.  I am so thankful for this.

JANE, I have not thought about Kiran in a very long time😩. Happy she and Frankie will be spending the night with you tomorrow night.  I sure missed hearing about your time you spent with Kiran, and I KNOW you missed her too.  Happy for you getting to go toDavy's for fresh corn.  Our Boston Family went to a farm in their area today and picked purple beans and other fresh veggies 🥰

SHIRLEY, glad to read that most of the chemicals have been added to the pool.  I hope the water is sparkling once again.

PATRICIA, I share your thought of not being ready for winter....I never am.
Regarding....that old quote from George Santayana, "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." And we do, repeatedly. 😩😪😡

GLORIA, I am sorry you had to be without Yvette. I hope she made it yesterday.

A couple of days ago I realized we have not heard from FloridaJean in much too long of time.  Does anyone know if she is OK?  I sure hope so.

A very solum day here.....that horrible day 20 years ago will never be forgotten.  If I could ask for one thing to happen in our country, it would be for all Americans to come together and be the patriots that we were after that horrific attack on America🇺🇸🙏

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning..

Rain during the night and overcast now with a temp of 57°

Not a good night for neither Babe or I. Yesterday I noticed a dew claw that needed to be cut and she is not one to let you work with her feet. Gave her two pills from the vet at the appropriate times and  when they started to work...so did I. Knew that the clip would bring on blood so had the bandage ready with cornstarch on it and a tie. Needless to say not much sleep for either one of us, I worried she may fall off the bed,so every time she moved I woke.  Managed to get  3 hours and 26 min sleep so I think there will be a nap or two today.

Jenny, do as they say, don't rush it as much as you would like to. You sure don't need any set backs after coming this far.

Jane, have fun today with the kids. I can just imagine all the chatter going on...enjoy!!

Patricia, winter brings a slower pace for me. Only have to dance with Mr SB and work in the house.

Shirley,no matter how many times I watch the 9/11 on tv the gut feeling is always the same.So many innocent lives lost and first responders lives lost due to the dust in their lungs afterwards.

Better shake a leg here.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Duplicated in Norms B & T..
..Not long back from morning church, we have another extra service, same church in 4 hours time, i shall be collected and taken to that also...Our morning service was as you all can imagine, was about 20 years ago, your 9/11..She gave a brilliant service, so sad when she mentioned an American fire fighter, just one of your many hero's, who was the only survivor of his crew, and his heroism on that day shining a light-torch at a faraway distance leading people to the safety of the outside world from inside the building.. He saw the tiny light gap to freedom..

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and and having my coffee before I go back to get ready for church.  The temp was in the low 50s overnight but is heading for 84 and sunny today.  Sounds like a nice day!

JENNY, good to hear from you and glad that things are moving along with the healing of your arm.  I know it will seem like a slow process but hang in there!  Good times are coming!

SHIRLEY, we just have to keep going and doing our best and hope that everyone else with do their best also.

LLOYD, good morning to you!

I'm off to get myself ready for church.  I think the girls are coming sometime this afternoon!  Have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Jane, I have yet to collect my hug from David...seems he is home for a couple of days getting ready to go out again. Yesterday they bought a bushel of tomatoes at the market. So while he is off at work she will be canning tomatoes. Some she cuts in half and smokes them along with peppers to put into a salsa.

Good morning everyone, 61 this morning, warmer than yesterday at this time. Yesterday was like a perfect fall day. I sat out on the porch reading most of the day and enjoyed it. I was surprised no one was out there but me. Felt good to be out in the fresh air that was not hot. Did not get above 75 and that was wonderful.

PHYLLIS  I feel like you about 9/11. I did not know anyone on that day that was in the path of those murders and at least did not worry about anyone on a personal basis.  I lived closer to Providence then and was in the flight path of planes going to land. Every time I heard a plane go over I would freeze and wished a safe landing for every one onboard. After it was wonderfl to see so many flags waving every day now seems no one cares for our USA.

LLOYD  you must be happy to have your van back again. I know how I felt when I had to have work done on my car and was stuck at home.

PATRICIA  people never seem to learn from past mistakes and will make them again. Like you heat goes on here October 1st, no matter how cold it gets. Our former maint enance man wou ld fight for us because we elderly and get cold fast. She has a heater in her office between her desk and the window and she does not pay her electricity like we do. Wonder what  this new main tenance man wii do. Of course the old one lived here in t he building but the new one has a house, a wife and 4 kids. Not room for all of them in that apartment.

JANE  you are a dreamer. I would like your seasons, too.  Spring is beaut iful till it starts getting too warm/hot for me and fall is a cooler brisk feel to the air that feels so refreshing. Not hing much good to say about summer except for local fresh fruit and veggies. Winter when it snows is beautiful to look at and youngsters love playing in it. I still enjoy  watching the snow fall and pile up and the trees are so beautiful covered in white.

AMY  I could put my small heater on to get the chill out near where I am sitting but too hard for me to move it around. My warm robe feels good these mornings so that will do for now.

SHIRLEY  I was thinking os 12/7 yesterday and remembering how upset my parents were. They had 2 sons of the age who would be drafted to fight plus other family young men. Thank God they all came home, one brother wounded in Europe and a BIL came home with malaria from North Africia. One was in the navy and a few in the airforce.

JENNY  I think the PT I had had me moving my arm faster than  you are being allowed. Hope your Boston family can get out into the country to go apple picking. I remember my first time doing that the first year of my marriage, still remember the aroma of all the apples ripening on the trees. I miss that now every fall at this time of year. Even with my rollator I would not be able to walk through an orchard. As far as I know Yvette will be out till Tuesday. I will have someone here tomorrow, I had this one before and she is one who likes to sit and talk, not do anything more than that. I dread when she gets her knee replaced in November and is out for a month or more.

LLOYD  the sun is sleeping late this morning, still wrapped in a blanket  of clouds.  No rain in the forecas t for today but one never knows, not even those smart (?) forcast guessers oops mean forecasters.

AMY  looks like you definetly need some sleep today. Any house chores can always be done tomorrow, right?

I am all "talked out" this morning. Time for a coffee cup refill and check local news on the tube.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Good morning from the Interior. It's 8:36 with 33 degrees and morning frost. Soon it will be time to see the fog above all the different types of water in this city and its surroundings. We'll have another sunny high of 65.

I'm feeling better than yesterday. Too many difficult things happening or not happening have gotten to me.

Gloria, no one pays utilities here, but I'm sure it's averaged into our rent. None of the administrators or workers live on the premises. We're not supposed to talk about our rents, but people do, and I'm somewhere in the middle range. When others talk about their high or low rents, I only nod and smile or frown appropriately. We have a group whose rent is income leveraged and those seven first-floor apartments paid by a state agency.

We're in total lockdown, with all public areas closed except for the security/mailroom/administrative area. No one is allowed out without a mask, even though everyone here is vaccinated. No visitors are allowed except for CNAs and the various food box, meals on wheels, and Senior food box deliveries.

Administrative is closed to residents, there are signs that they cannot open their doors to talk, but there are sets of phone numbers to call if needed. There is one 24 hour security person and one 24 hour maintenance person in the mailroom who are masked and wear plastic booties over their shoes.

It's hard to find information other than calling and leaving a message and phone number for a callback or having messages clipped to your door. People are asked not to be out in the hallways unless needed and to stay masked if they use the dog run or the smoking area at the edge of the back parking lot.

I am so glad my group has returned to morning texts. It's something to look forward to.

Regarding 9/11, I hope everyone remembers many other countries who offered assistance, especially Canada, who allowed US planes to land in Canadian airports when they weren't allowed in the US.

Jenny, I'm so happy that your shoulder is doing well and so much better than the first time. Slow and steady, as my father used to say, is the way to go.

Amy, when I was canning tomatoes, I would drop them in boiling water, peel, cut them in half, and put as many as possible into jars. Any spices or flavorings would be added when I used them in a recipe. It has been a while since I did any canning. I don't even do meal prepping these days.

Today is Farrah's ninth birthday. I've had her since 2016, and in those five years, she's gone from living under the bed full-time to the diva she was meant to be!

Amy

Patricia, I know Farrah is on a restricted diet but does she get a special treat today?

I am wanting frost so whatever is in the grass dies and Babe and the neighbours dog don't get bothered by the grass.
I had a tough job this afternoon, neighbour came over cleaned both chimneys out and I did the cookstove..then I had peaches to do. Then the tough job....held the bed down with two dogs for TWO hours!!

Amy, as you know, in January 2017, Farrah's vet said 15.5 pounds was too heavy for a cat of her size and put her on grain-free diet food for adult cats. It took two years for her to lose .5 lbs and another year to lose another .5 lbs.

She's holding steady at 14 pounds even with the diet. She does get dental treats because it's no way in hell for brushing her teeth, and she has periodontal disease as most older cats and dogs do.

Another item about diets, did you know that the most common food to cause dogs and cats to develop an allergy is chicken? And because it's cheap, it's the most commonly used? The second most common is grains and meat by-products.

I did wish her happy birthday....    :kitten:

Amy

No, I didn't know that about the chicken. These critters like chicken, turkey, lean beef and prime rib....poor babies :))) They also get beans ,prefer them cooked yellow or green, carrots, broccoli, brussel sprouts, peas, cabbagge and parsnips.
