Good morning everyone.

Liquid sunshine here this morning and for the next 3-4 days they say. I did manage to get the grass cut and weed trimming done yesterday and had planned on weeding the garden but that is not happening. I do have lots to do inside and one is phoning to get answers on one of hubby's meds.

Hal, all the wood has been piled but we will order one more truck load 4 cords  to finish it off.

Gloria, what if everyone signed a petition and send it into head quarters, would they listen then?

Jane, hope your bump on the noggin is much better today.

Lloyd, maybe tonight you will get a decent sleep. Now to bring honey back into the conversation ,I was told to take a tablespoon of honey (or two) at night and that would help you sleep. I have not tried this yet.

Joan, I am so happy to see your posts. I hope each day your strength comes back.

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Amy you have My couries up Talking about wood. How much do you have to pay for a cord. I presume it is cut and split to your specks. Before son got killed, he and I used to cut and split wood about 18" 20 " long and round up all we could put on the regular Pickup bed and deliver it to K C MO. for a $100.00 per load short cord, and stack it for customer. I had lot more energy then. I mostly could not pick up and through a stick over the side of truck now let alone any distance..Have a great day. glad you have Husband home and hope he continues to improve. several years I had a stroke and refused to give up and mostly overcame it. some times when I get very tired my tong gets a little laze and I tend to slur some words. but that is all the after affects i notice.

Hi everyone. We are starting off with a nice warm morning but expect to have another cloudy day.  However, the temperatures are suppose to stay in the high 80's this afternoon.  I had a good day yesterday as I felt better than I had the two previous days in terms of having some energy.  Everything worked out well with the timing yesterday morning and was in an out of the doctor's office in about 30 minutes.  After I picked Pat up at the Church we stopped at Chik-Fil-A for lunch.  I did leave my PT Cruiser at the garage and told them I wasn't in a hurry to get it as don't use it very much.  They thanked me saying they were slammed with people getting ready for the 4th of July holiday.  I expect a lot of people would take Monday off from work and add it to the weekend for a nice 4 hour holiday.  Today I will pick up my friend and we will go to coffee, then I will take him home and right now plan on going back to the Church for the Wisdom group, which I missed the last couple of weeks.  That will pretty much be it for today.

Jane, filling out that incident report protects you and that is why they carry insurance (or perhaps self-insure since they are a huge corporation.  I know the Care Credit card can be used for any medical situation whether human or animals if the doctor's office has it available.  It certainly saves them from having to carry people on credit and I am sure the cost to them is built into the costs they charge the patient.  I have used it for a number of years

Gloria, that is pretty chilly for this time of the year.  I like that newly washed look after a storm.  Too bad you have such an unpleasant manager and is certainly doesn't improve your living conditions.

Jenny, your cat is used to having all the attention and doesn't like sharing you with the dog.  They will probably soon adjust to each other or at least tolerate each other.

Hal, do you still have a cafeteria available to you close by.  I always liked those because I  could a balanced meal.  The Golden Corral is about as close to a cafeteria as we seem to have around here in our Ryan's Steakhouse closed.  Of course, we do have the Cracker Barrel and they have good food.  Glad your wife has found her cellphone as they sure aren't cheap anymore.  Yes, I did get my PC up and it is running well.  In fact, it is probably faster than the old hard drive I had.  Of course, I haven't loaded it up with programs and will add them only as I need them. My son installed it a week ago when he was here and I had already put the Windows 10 program on a memory stick and once it loaded it was fine.  The license is automatically transferred as Microsoft keeps track of other components in the computers so can tell it is just a replacement of a part and not a different computer.  It is getting very sophisticated.  I was concerned that I didn't have the license number for Windows 10 on this computer but that turned out not to be a problem and didn't have to re-buy a license.

Joan, it sounds like you have some training to do with your housekeeper to let her know what you expect.  Perhaps you need to speak to the manager to find out what is suppose to be done by the housekeeper.  Moping floors would seem to be a fundamental task, especially bathroom and kitchen areas.

Lloyd, sure wish you could get rid of those headaches.  I had migraines for many years until I was in my fifties and then they stopped and I sure don't miss them and seldom have a headache anymore.  You sure have a lot of work on your schedule for today and following.  I hope it all goes well.

mycheal,  that is interesting information to know about the food stamps and online grocery delivery companies.  I bet it won't be long before Walmart also provides that service for the store pickup of online shopping orders.

June, like you I want my feet to have room to move so always pull the sheet out at the bottom a bit, leaving it still tucked in under the mattress as don't want any air on my feet.  My wife is just the opposite and doesn't mind having her feet out from under the sheet or blankets.

Jane, your explanation of the Snap Card usage is very clear and easy to understand.  Enjoy your vacation and we will look forward to your return.

Amy, maybe the rain will give you a break from all of that outside work.

halkel

Larry, we still have the remnants of Luby's cafeteria chain here, owned by different owners, but they are very high in price and consequently not many eat there and the food sits and gets stale.  They used to have great food.  We have a self-serve restaurant, which is a cafeteria company, Furr's and the food was good when first opened but now not so good and very expensive and sometimes the serving tables get very messy from customers who seemed to disregard the fact others will use the same area.

Don't know where we will go after I get out of the doctors office, I will just let Steve, my SIL, pick a spot and I will pick up the tab.

JaneS enjoy the vacation.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, have been reading but not enough energy to remark. Did not sleep good and the humidity is going back up.

JOAN  some of the help I get really do not know how to keep a place clean and unfortunately I cannot do it myself. My insurance pays for the help so I really cannot complain. They do not move anything and I can see the dust on the floors around the furniture legs. They do not get dust bunnies under the bed either. I do miss the CNA I had for over a year, she spoiled me.

HAL  your family will not let you starve while your wife is over the pond.

They have tried getting a petition going before I moved here about the manager but too many were afraid to sign it. I try staying away from her so she has not really picked on me much. I see some of my friends out in the smoke shack and will go in and chat with them. Then the witch will come in and tell me I have been smoking in my apartment. The smell is on my  clothes, does she want me to strip before I bring the smell in?

AMY  wish you could slow down some. With your DH home at least you do not have that long drive every day.

LARRY  that cool temperature yesterday morning is more to my liking. I have said before, I do not like summer weather.

Almost noon so think it is past time to get dressed for the day.

Another lovely day in Stanton, CA. It was cloudy earlier but now at nine a.m. the sun is shining brightly. 73 degrees is predicted for today. My kind of temperature.

My Dr. has switched on of my meds around. I spoke to her about metoprolol..I have my doubts about it. so she cut back the strength, and I will take it at night instead of in the morning. So far so good. Had my blood drawn this morning, and went to make my bed about an hour later and found that elastic band they tie around the arm lying on the floor on the opposite side of the bed. So called downstairs to let them know I had it.

Lloyd, there you go again…making plans to do the things you should not be doing. You were going to quit that earlier in the game as I recall, now you are talking about risky labor again.

Amy, if the Lord didn't send down rain, I doubt you would ever rest. You and our Janie…we will have to call you the go-go girls……you never take a day off. I'm so happy you have your hubby home again, and I hope he enjoys the freedom his cart/rollator gives him. I would be lost without mine.

Janie….oops…I see you are doing the good thing and taking a bit of a rest. I will miss you dear heart.

Gloria,do you have any other places you could move to that would not be run by a witch ? Here is So. Calif. we have hundreds of options on care places. Even private homes have been licensed to care for the elderly.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Amy

Lloyd, we pay 380 a truck load which is 4 cords...40.00 of that is for delivery and they don't pile we do :)

The people we buy from are so nice, he phoned the other night just to see how hubby was doing. When things slow down a bit here I will order another truck load. He cuts it to what we want 14 inches and fine for the cook stove. We used to buy logs and cut and split it but not now. I sold my chain saw a few years back......just to make sure I wasn't tempted to cut wood again.

Amy that is good thinking. that is what I am doing but I see I am not doing it fast enough for some of my friends. but I can not quit all together as I am still too deep in debt also because I have seen too many people do that and die soon and I enjoy most of you people most of the time to do that. I am going to sell the bulldozer one track Howe and lots of other machinery and duplicitous of tools. hope that pleases everyone.

A good June 29th HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

I am in my height of glory getting to spend my "babies" 41st Birthday with him.  I can not believe it has been that many years....it truly feels like no time ago.

We are going to meet Daughter-in-love at their favorite Mexican Restaurant for a nice Birthday celebration.  Normally we would pick a fancier place to go, but they have been missing what they call "REAL" Mexican food while living in Austin.  As we all know, Texas is Tex-Mex, and they have missed what we think is good Mexican Food here in Colorado.  No matter what....we are going to really enjoy it.

I hope you all have enjoyed a good Thursday.  I sure have.

Larry,

Yes in my area of the Country Walmart is diligently  working out a plan to take food stamps... with todays technology it can be done. Here you can pick your order up or have it delivered.

However yes many carriers are not equipted with many machines to accommodate all cards even EBT.

Enjoy, Mycheal

Good Morning everyone. it is 3:32 am woke me up with rattling the tater bin and liquid sunshine. Instant weather says 71 º and thunder storms. they hit right on the head they most likely looked out the window and seen it also heard the thunder as I did.
Denver when I was in the service I was stationed at white sand N M. and lived in Las cruses NM. we learned good Mexican food , the real food is not hot just spicy enough to have great taste. they could fix it hot for the gringo's but except for a laugh now and then did not. most Mexican restaurants in this aria do the mess up for the gringo. we are fortant here to have a good restraint close to us, ran by a good Mexican Family. they know how to do it correctly. have a great day.

Have a great day friend see you later.

Good morning everyone.

Rain overnight and more today..so inside work it is. Spent most of yesterday setting up appointments and visits from nurse and physio. Soon all our duck will be in a row!!

Lloyd, I do understand what your saying and easing out of all your work is the way to go. You have so many irons in the fire that you could just keep one going when you semi retire.

June, looks like the good Lord wants the weeds to grow a bit taller so I can pull them when the weather is dry.. :2funny:

Gloria

Good morning everyone, yesterday was an overcast and cool day. Today will change that with the humidity returning and the heat going up. It was nice to not have the AC running for a couple of days. Might have some rain on the weekend. Glad I will not be traveling anywhere over the Fourth. With all the traffic these days I find I like staying close to home more than ever.

JUNE  there are several other senior housing places but they all have waiting lists, some as much as 4 years. My name was in this place close to 2 years. I would never think of going into the cities in a high rise building. I choose this place because it had only 52 apartments instead of the few hundred in other places.

AMY  my oldest son heated with wood for many years. All trees cut down on his land.  It cleared the area where he now has his orchard. When he finally got tired of chopping wood the wood was almost gone so he bought a pellet stove. Lot of heat but little ash to get rid of.

LLOYD  you have too many interests to just sit and do nothing if you sell all that big machinery. You would never be content to retire and just sit and do nothing. Those are the ones who do not live long.

JENNY  your youngest is 41 and my oldest grandson is 41. My oldest son will be 66 on Sunday. No wonder I am feeling ancient these days.

SHIRLEY  we had a big boomer storm a few nights ago, first big one in the 3 years I have lived here. In a way we are happy with all the rain we had this spring, something about the rain that kills the gypsy moth caterpillars. Last year they defoliated way too many trees here. For a small state we have a lot of woodlands but almost half had no leaves last summer.

HAVE a good day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone!
Well I woke up with a backache this morning.  But it is going away since I got up and started moving around.  I went to bed at 830 last night, I was bone tired.  We went out to the Texas road house and I split a chicken friend steak with my daughter and ole dad picked up the tab.

I swear I don't know what I am going to do with the wife.  She lost her phone again yesterday and we looked the house over and couldn't find it.  Any old how, when we got back from eating our neighbor across the street told us the neighbor on the corner came up looking for us.  My wife went down and guess what she had found her phone laying in the road, no one had run over it.  Obviously she had left it on the top of the car and it fell off when she turned the corner.  Shhhhhhheeeesh....

Jenny, many moons ago we were traveling through your part of the world and stopped stopped to eat.  I saw they had chili on the menu and sounded good so I ordered a bowl.  Waitress warned me it would be spicy hot, but since I lived on the border of Mexico that didn't bother me to much, well she brought it out and it was like water, no flavor at all to me.  So much for spicy definitions in different parts  of the world.  Along the border the always bring you two small bowls of salsa, one is green and the other red, they are to spice up your food, the red is the mild and the green is the hot, both very good tasting.  They also have what is called Pico Del Gallo which is made with veggies, finely chopped, and mildly spicy and I love it on food. But I think it takes so much time to make and now kinda expensive too boot you have to order it but it so good.  Lloyd Mexican food has to be served hot, stove hot or the flavor just doesn't come out.  And like all restaurants some are better than others.

Coffee is ready, who wants a cup?

JoanFL

Good morning, halkel.  I think it is time for your wife to wear her cell phone on a lanyard around her neck.  I don,t like food too spicy--it upsets my stomach.  I will join you for a cup of coffee.

Hi everyone. We had some heavy rains during the night and it is was raining a little while ago with good opportunities for more throughout the day.

This is the day for the housekeeper and we plan on eating out later this afternoon for our main meal and then picking up the PT Cruiser.  The repairs cost a lot more than I expected, around $900, but the car should be in good shape with the A/C problem fixed and a problem with the radiator also repaired.  I also had them do an oil change.  Needless to say I was shocked when he told me the amount.  I think this is a sound car and all cars require periodic maintenance and it is certainly less expensive than replacing it. I may watch some golf later this afternoon.

Hal, I guess cafeterias are probably pretty much a thing of the past for the general public other than those run in hospitals and other business buildings.  You can run up a pretty large bill easily by picking up this and that and they always displayed the food so appealingly.  We have a Texas Roadhouse fairly close and we always enjoy our meals there. That was a close call with your wife's cellphone.

Gloria, hope you were able to get more rest yesterday.  I understand your comments about lacking the energy to post (although I seem to end up with long postings). Our housekeeper does move small pieces of furniture to be sure the floors are clean.  Of course my wife has eagle eyes and can usually see something that could have been done better.  However, we are most thankful for our housekeeper as she does a good job and is ever so dependable.

Sandy, great report from your cardiologist.  I wish mine would say come back in a year rather than every 4-6 months.  Normal test results are what we all want.

June, a 73 degree day sound delightful.

Amy, your selling your chain saw sounds like a wise decision.  I didn't have to sell mine as it was taken with a lot of my tools in a house break in we had during the 1980.

Lloyd, I had a chuckle at your comment about "enjoying most of you people most of the time".  We are all just concerned about you and are not trying to tell you what to do as that is a decision we each have to make for ourselves.  Liquid sunshine is often most welcome.

Jenny, sometimes eating in a place that may not be as nice as others but have enjoyable food is the thing to do.  We just had a new Tex-Mex restaurant open called Diablo's and we all like it as you go though a line and tell them what you want and how much of it on whatever your order.  I think it will become one of our favorite places.  I may have never really eaten real Mexican food.

mycheal, I am confident that we will soon have grocery stores that will off a delivery service since it is available in many parts of the country.  However, just having the online ordering is a big step forward.

Amy, I have always wondered who it was that got to decide what are weeds and what are not weeds.  My mind works in strange ways.  :)

Joan, may I suggest you get a bluetooth keyboard to use with your iPad.  It works beautifully and there are no wires as it works on batteries.  I think I paid less that $15 for mine.  It is very lightweight.  It sure beats typing on those little keys on the iPad for phone.  I got mine from Amazon and if you are interested just let me know and I will look up what I ordered and provide you a link.

June Drabek

Good morning all, Had a good nights sleep, and we are having an overcast cool morning. 75 degrees for today's high. I like that. Nothing I have to be involved in today, so maybe I will place a grocery order.....maybe....Time and tiredness are my guides.

Bis, it is SO good to see your posts pop up. Do you have a washer and dryer in your apartment ? Mine is down the hall but it is one washer and dryer used by all the units on my floor, plus some from the first and second floor come up here. I am going to enquire about the price of having it done, which they do here...for $$ of course.

I better go fix some breakfast, my housekeeper has been in and changed the linens and will be back later for "deep" cleaning. So, see you all later.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

Larry-MY son stopped by on their way to the beach house, and he ordered something for my iPAD. Thanks for the offer.

Good afternoon, cloudy, but getting very humid, then my feet swell.

Hal ,I had to come in and post when I read about, your wife's phone. Not funny, but had to laugh.  In to days paper, was a story about a women here, that is getting married in Ohio  She arrived in Ohio, and did not have her wedding dress.  It seems when she was packing the car, she put the dress on the roof, and drove off.  A women drove by a house and saw a dress in a dress bag hanging on a fence.  she thought it a give away.  that night she saw on facebook, the women told of losing her wedding dress in that in southampton.  Sorry, I cannot make this story any shorter.
Next morning she went back to the house  where she saw the dress, and ask the people about the it.  Seems they found it in the road, put it on there fence, it was going to rain, so they bought the dress  inside, and was going to give it to Goodwill.

They called the bride to be in Ohio, To make a long story end, she now has her dress, for July wedding.

Bis, you are far more well equipped than we are here. Even the two bedroom apartments are not that spacious, and I have a studio...no bedroom. But for my age and more and more lack of ability, I am content. I think our age group here are older than those where I lived before, but the exercize classes are all well attended, the clinic downstairs is staffed 24-7, which is a great benefit. We have a t.v. gal here that is a whiz on computers and t.v.s. Our computer connections are through Rowntree as is the t.v. Almost a city within a city.

Gloria de, I had purchased some glasswear at a yard sale one time..put them on the roof my my car, and took off. I was tootling on home and someone honked and motioned toward my car, so I stopped, got out, and there was the box of glassware safe and sound. I'm so glad the bride to be recovered her wedding dress.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

There are some really nice over the shoulder purses,  that
are perfect for cell phones .     (with space for extra also... like money, credit cards
tissues etc etc.)

When I am out of the house my cell phone is always in one of these purses,
and next to body.    At home, I keep mine on the desk or next to my bed.
(or in the bath room) ....    In other words I keep it pretty close to
where ever I am .
