Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

I just was looking at my "Nextdoor" site and someone had posted this, which I thought some might appreciate. Sorry it's not in it's proper format, but you get the idea. -

"Leaves"
By David DePaso

Twas' the night before Thanksgiving and all through the town, gas powered leaf blowers were messing around.  Tiny little leaves lay in planting beds, with thoughts of eradication dancing in their heads.  LOUDER and LOUDER the blowers drew near, with engines huffing and puffing creating a fear.  What could they do but succumb to the antics with a circus of men lathering a frantic.  The rabbits ran here, the rabbits ran there, as the noise of the blowers boomed in the air.  Creating not much of an issue, what could the leaves do, but await their end, no longer shiny and new.  One by one they lifted up high, spinning around up in the sky.  Twisting and turning they surged with fear landing in a pile far and near.  Soon a giant truck came into view, siphoning up was all it could do.  The hose pulled them up without much of a fight, and soon, sadly, they were out of sight.  The toxic particles remained in the air, as the environment lay entirely bare.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I hope you all have a lovely holiday! When Ron goes to a traditional TG dinner at our daughter's, I'm taking the dogs and going in to make beef bone broth with vegetables. I'm looking forward to renewing my stock. I can't boil things in the closed RV for long periods of time. The humidity gets out of control, since I can't open a vent. I have a 5 yard piece of polar fleece on its final wash. Its for a door blanket for then Tiny House. If you remember, I used the grandkids cozies safety pinned together.😝 I'll get it dried and Ron can take it up on his next trip. He still has to bring down firewood. I'll take in my knitting for something to do. I have 7 1/2" of the back panel.

MG, I know how that goes!😆 I've had projects that I've started, got interrupted, then took back up and finished years later.

These 2 discussions on the ticks and Orcas have been very interesting. I've been waiting to talk with my daughter about the winter ticks. I'll see what she says about the orcas as well. My son will be more informed on that though. He majored in marine biology when he first entered college. He had some excellent jobs to earn tuition. One summer he counted, and tagged returning salmon. It included diving for visual counts, radio tracking by plane, and fish wrestling. He loved it, but the funding was always iffy. The industry depends on grants. He always felt "unemployed" while waiting to hear if he received the grants. So he switched to Engineering. I don't have any personal knowledge to add other than Orcas are the wolf packs of the sea, wind turbines, vibrations and cell towers can cause aggression. Growing up sailing the Inland Passage we saw them all the time. They never caused problems for even kayakers or canoeists that I heard of. Attacks on swimmers were almost non-existent unless you could be mistaken for a seal or sea lion, and dolphins could/did drive off Orcas. My 2¢.

Good morning

So far we have been lucky with the snow not coming here in feet!!To the west of us they had 12 inches or more and are expecting up to two feet more!! We have had light dustings but know sooner than later we will also get dumped upon.

Laundry day with continued purging.

I will be so happy on Mon when I get my computer back!!

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, six degrees presently. Weather gurus are saying, upcoming ice.  "Winter Storm May Bring Ice and Snow Next Week...

A winter storm is expected to move across the Interior next week. This system may bring moderate snowfall and localized areas of ice. The heaviest snowfall can be expected north and northwest of Fairbanks, with moderate confidence of snowfall totals exceeding 6".

From Fairbanks south and east, temperatures may warm above freezing Tuesday and Wednesday, which could result in a wintry mix of precipitation at times. Expect some icy conditions in the city.

Nothing new, as usual. Had a nice time and meal with friends on Wednesday and some Amazon packages Tuesday, one today and one larger one on Monday, all household basics.

I'm doing much better, six weeks after my fall. Only some residue effects.

Amy

Good snowy morning.

According to Jesse's paw prints we have about 2 inches and it is still coming down.

A day of rest here after I get the dancing done.

Patricia, good to hear you are feeling  a lot better..no  more falls!

Jane are you getting LOTS of hugs from your company?

Better get my dancing clothes on .

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Well, the dance is done! Luckily the snow blower dealt with it.. That 2 inches turned into 8 and growing. I wasn't going to touch it till later but when I went out to shovel a path to the bird seed ,the snow  was rolling ahead of the shovel. Everything has been done now and the birds can get the feed .
I hope to get my computer tomorrow, weather permitting.

Amy, - Let us know what you think of Win-11 after you get it.

BTW - Keep the snow up that way. We don't need (want) it.

Good afternoon all!
I had a nice "Thanksgiving" luncheon with my daughter and her family yesterday. It was good to give and receive hugs and kisses again. The grandkids are growing up way too fast!

Glad to hear both Phyllis and Patricia are healing nicely.😊

No snow here yet. Cold mornings. Mid 40°F during the day.

Making good progress on my sweater.

Other than that, just the usual chores.

RAMMEL

It's been quiet here. I guess everyone is busy with the day.
