I guess I am losing it.  I know I (or thought I did) posted this morning early and took off for church.  But I cant find the post.

At any rate, went to church and came home lay down and took a short nap and back up and off to church again for offering count.  Got back home and checked for new post and didn't find any.  Watched some TV and then we went to my Granddaughters for a indoor cookout.  It came a frog strangler just as we were leaving to go there.  Had supper, came home and decided to check computer, still no post in soda Shop and I knew something wasn't right, so I pulled up the forum and saw where there were lots of post but not mine.

Anyhow I see all of you have been busy bees.

I am off to bed, tired out for some reason.

Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams

Eyes Closed

I discovered my 13-year old leaning against the kitchen door with his eyes closed. When I asked if he was feeling sick, he replied...

"No, I think I just have narcosleepy."

A Year of Favor
(By Chris Tiegreen)

Jesus had returned to his hometown of Nazareth and, as an honored guest, was given the opportunity to read the scroll at the synagogue.

Whether he chose the passage from Isaiah 61 or it was the scheduled reading, it was clearly divinely orchestrated. This messianic prophecy described the nature of the Messiah's work perfectly.

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God." (Isaiah 61:1-2)

If you know the story of this event in Nazareth from Luke 4, you may have noticed something unusual about the way Jesus read the passage. He stopped in the middle of a sentence - right after "the year of the Lord's favor" and before "the day of vengeance." Why? Because the day of retribution comes later. When Jesus came, he came for favor.

What did Jesus mean by "the year of the Lord's favor"? It sounds like a New Year's blessing, but it's hard to imagine him thinking, "Okay, according to the Gregorian calendar that will be established centuries from now, I was born a few years bc - not sure how my people figured that - which makes this year ad (28? 29? 30?). So yes, this year is the year of God's favor." No, the passage prophesies of a season, an era, an unfolding of history.

It seems clear that we are still living in that era; Jesus didn't revoke favor after the resurrection but instead sent his followers into the world to proclaim it. So what, then, is favor? And what does it mean to be living in this season of history?

Favor is hard to define but not very difficult to describe. Favor is an invitation into God's shalom - his peace, wholeness, fullness, kindness, abundance, and well-being. It's an assurance that he is with us and looks kindly on us - that his people live under his smile. It means he is uniquely disposed to pour out his grace on all who will receive it, that he is the wind in our sails, that his promises are "yes and amen," that the God of glory is on our side, and that none of our obstacles or opposition are any match for him. Favor assures us that it's not irresponsible to put the weight of our hardships on him and refuse to feel the burden of them ourselves. It means even our problems will work out for our advancement. It tells us it's okay to laugh today. As much as we want.

It also means I'm his favorite. (Comes from the same word, right?) Of course, it means you are too.

I think that's a good word for 2016. As a child of God, you have every right to assume all of the above for this coming year. This year (literal) is within the year (figurative) of God's favor. That means favor is yours. You can walk in confidence that he is lavishly sharing the inheritance of his Son with all who find their life in him.

That makes the coming year look like a very good year. And it will be. Live with anticipation of seeing the goodness of God show up in your life in remarkable ways. Your faith and the unfolding of history have combined to place you in the center of his favor, and you are covered with it wherever you go.

Lloyd Hammond, I am here been up 3 plus hours already......We both now leave our bedroom doors open giving the dogs a clear run through the passage from front room, hallway to bedrooms, where for the last couple of days our Benji has come looking for me as he always does but now he speeds up to the kitchen when he knows he has gotten me out of bed, both dogs have wanted to go out in the garden to do toilets, and they have, aren't they good doggies for letting me know? I have washed up, had my brekkie and fed the dogs, and its now only 9.45, R has only now gotten up and dressed.

Joan, good morning, another good "thought of the day...." not something I am good at practising at, I tend to dwell too much on the past....My late father often would tell me...." as one door closes, another door opens...."
.............................................

I should be getting my delivery of birdfoods today, a week later than normal....that's if the driver can find my home....

Jackie I do apoliagize I must be bliend in one eye and cant see out of the other. good the doggies are well house broke. we only have one dog other than me. she is called luckie. she was dumped off near our place and sat by the mail box. Nancy would go get the mail and she would follow her back to house , and then goe back to mailbox weighting for some one to come back after her. next day same over . after a few days Nancy wattred her and fed her,she never ever went back to mailbox. she is freindly but useless as a helper' she follows us very wherewagges her tail and smiles, but the cows chase her when she gets too close and she runs. she wont sick to help bring them up either. all she seams to know is wagg the tail and smile.
do have a grate day

Lloyd Hammmond, wagging their tail is more than enough, they are telling you that they are happy...

Forgot to mention, the dogs are let out for their toilet last thing at night, but rarely ever do anything...

Gloria, I often now use my walker but mainly for walking down our slope towards the rest of the accommodations and managers office on site, not so hard getting back again but too steep for getting down the ( road in, ) slope, although getting up was not so tough....so when I walk up the road/ lane, I use my stick and grab Rs sleeve when I get to feeling dizzy, which usually is when and if I stop half way and turn to admire the spectacular views, best to wait till I get half way where the ground is flat, then its downhill from the other side, of which I have yet to venture that far...I have to remember, that no matter how far I think I am capable of walking, I still have to get back....

Good morning everyone.
Another beautiful day here. I am off to my quilting group here...don't have far to travel like my other one.  Had tea out on the verandah yesterday, sitting in  the warm sun.

Lloyd, Lucky is VERY lucky to have found a good home, wagging tail and showing you and Nancy unconditional love.

Jackie, glad to hear not only you and R are settling in but you furbabies too!!

Jane , have a great day at work.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

I'm up and at "em!  It's 43º right now but prediction is that it will get up to 80 later today.  This is more like a Central PA Spring....cold in the morning and hot for a part of the day.

I'll be off to work around 11.  I'm looking forward to a good day and I wish the same for Everyfriend.

Hal, I loved your description of the storm...Frog Strangler.  I've never heard that one before!  My dad used to say that if we had a really bad storm "It's raining pitchforks with saw logs for handles"!

Good morning, Joan, and all of the early birds here.  I meant to get back here yesterday but got involved with something and never came up for air until it was time to fix dinner.  And last night I was so tired from all of that intense brain activity I went to bed early.

I woke up early today but since I don't have to do very much other than laundry, I'm not worried about it.  I'll catch up with an after-lunch nap, I think.

I have read how everyone is doing and wishing all of you a good day.

Hi Jackie
I know the Island is different in some  respects  regarding those who have disabilities and those who have mobility problems, no matter what causes them.

And perhaps it is a question I should not ask, however, sometimes people are unaware of what is available for those with disabilities and mobility problems.

I have received Disabled Living Allowance (DLA) for about eight years up to my retirement.  And since my retirement it has continued.

I think in the UK it is called PIP and I am wondering if you are in receipt of it.  As many people with MS are.

Kelly, applied for PIP but told I didn't qualify...now I am past the age to apply again for that one....That was very much means tested, such as, do I need someone to cut my food up for me? score one point....

Kelly

Hi Jackie
DLA on the Island is payable after retirement age, so PIP should be.

The system is so wrong as those with mobility problems be it through a disability or whatever health reason do need help.

I also receive £2,900 extra on my Income tax personal allowances, over and above the usual tax personal allowances.  Which the UK do not allow.

Kelly, seems with PIP we are judged as the person who comes to our homes on the day sees us, we are put through some tests, and are judged by our response on that day, not on how MS has affected us in the past....they used an outside source...Questions like, can I walk two lengths of a double decker bus, well yes I could at the time, with a stick and with considerable trouble, but that has not always been the case.....The young lady who came to see me, when she was leaving, gave me a hug, said if it was up to her I would be given PIP, after hearing my story, but It was not....Totally agree, I have read many stories on my MS forum of the unfairness in getting PIP....anyway enough of that subject....

larryhanna

Hi everyone on a bright and sunny 52 degree morning here in South Carolina but headed up to 82 degrees this afternoon.  I have for me a busy day ahead.  This morning I need to get to the Post Office and then want to look at new laser printers and will also buy ink for my HP printer.  Then at noon I have a meeting and plan on a quick stop at COSTCO on my way home for a couple of items.  Then this evening is our monthly men's meeting at church.  Pat has her Circle meeting this morning at church.

Yesterday morning we had an unusual experience.  Pat had turned off the TV and gone to the kitchen area when the TV came back on by itself.  She tried to turn it off and couldn't and I had the same results.  Most of the remote control keys also wouldn't work including mute or lowering the volume but could change channels.  We had to leave to get to Sunday School so just left it on.  When I got home I did a Google search on this problem and found that I just needed to unplug it and it would reset itself.  The TV sits on the mantel above the fireplace and the plug in is almost to the top of the TV.  I got the step stole and was able to unplug it and put an extension cord into which I plugged the TV so I won't have to climb up if this happens again.  Now the TV seems to be fine.

Gloria, I hope you were able to get some good rest yesterday and won't feel as tired today.

Joan, we had a 3,600 square foot house before I retired and it was too big for us even with Stacey living with us.  I can't image a 7,000 square foot house.  I bet there were rooms Linda and Ed seldom went into.  Glad they were able to sell it and now down-size although that is also a big job.

June, glad you weren't hurt with the lamp falling on you.  That sure isn't the way to wake up.

JaneS, thanks for your explanation of the "chair in the tree".  That wouldn't work for me as no trees taller than I am on our property.  I could get a porch swing as have always loved to swing. However, I won't get one as the two chairs we have on the porch will rock a little bit.  Hope your first day back at work goes well for you today.

Jackie, it was good to read that you were feeling better yesterday and were able to get out for little walk uphill.   I bet your dogs are glad they no longer have to deal with steps to an upper level of your home.

Lloyd, I don't think lazy is a term we should apply with you as know you work to the maximum you are able.  After all you are not a young or middle aged man any longer and your body is telling you to slow down and let it rest more.

Good MOfrning Everyone!

Well our week is starting off wet and stormy.  It seemed it thundered a good portion of the night (or maybe I should say morning) and it is still thundering in the far off.

Joanie, thank you for breakfast.  You are good at coming up with a new menu every morning.

Janie, well you are going to be a tired lady tonight.  First day back on the job.  I know in some ways you will be happy to be back but a tired puppy at the end of your shift.  Especially having to stand so much.

Lloyd, your pup will give you lots of smiles and pleasure, even though she wont work the cattle.  Maybe she will get the idea later on.  My old boxer is fit for nothing but give us love and letting us spoil her.  But I don't mind, she is company.  And is always there to greet us when we come home.

Larry, I was looking, you raised my curiosity, yesterday  at some laser printers and they have a pretty good price at Office Max for both color and black and white, wireless, all in ones.  But I never got around to looking at how much the toner was and how many they took.  I am crowed for space on my desk so I bought my self a furniture movers dolly, a small one and keep my printer on it on the floor and can move it around easily since it is on the dolly.

Gloria must be sleeping in this morning.

Jackie, problem with folks with MS and some other problems is that they don't have visible handicaps.  I have a young neighbor who has MS but you would never know it.  Her MS only comes back occasionally.

Everyone have a good day.

JoanFL

Good morning, Larry.  That is unusual for that to happen to the TV, but twice it has happened to me in the middle of the night.  It scared me, because I couldn't imagine who came into my living room and turned the TV on.  I did as you did, and all was OK.  The second time it happened, I knew it was just a quirk.  Linda and Ed travel so much that that house was hardly used.

halkel--Good morning.  I've been watching on TV the flooding in areas of TX.  Sure hope you are not near any of that.

Larry, a cartridge for my laser printer (b/w) costs around $65 and lasts a long time.  I have a color printer but the cartridges have dried out and I have not replaced them.  If I want color prints, Tom has them done at Walgreen's.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, well it sure did not pay me to sleep so much Saturday night. Think I got to sleep about 3 this morning and then I did not want to get up this morning.

JUNE  I agree with you. This body seems to be breaking down fast.

KELLY  I was the youngest in a big family so was used to having family around all the time. Now I am the last of my siblings and my 3 all have busy lives so do not see them as often I would like.

JANE  hope you do not get too tired today going back to work.

HAL  a frog strangler is something I never heard before but gather it was raining hard.

JOAN  a full breakfast will be great this morning. Food for Thought is another to make people think. Thank you for today's goodies.

LLOYD  good morning. I would never think of you as a fighter. You are too nice to fight.

JACKIE animals are smart. Use that walker so you can sit if your leg acts up suddenly.

AMY  been a long time since I enjoyed having my morning coffee outside in the morning sun.

JANE  have a great day greeting your customers today.

PHYLLIS  some days really get away from us at times.

LARRY  I feel much less tired today, thanks.  Never again will I go out 2 days in a row. One time is enough to wear me out.
