Another nice bright sunny morning in Stanton, CA. We will have a high of 84 today.

Janie, I am grinning from ear to ear over your wonderful Birthday, and the fun and happy ending. I love your daughter ! I do wish you a great day at W.M. and a loving weekend to look forward to.  You deserve the best my girl.

Mary Ann, hopefully this will be an easier day for you. There has been enough stress in your family.

Amy, it is encouraging to know that your hubby still likes to get out for a drive. It can get awfully boring to be at home when he is not able to do chores. As long as you will be near your favorite stores you might as well give in to temptation and shop a bit. You deserve it my dear.

Lloyd, some of your rain would be greatly appreciated here in our dried up So. Ca. When you get some sunshine your fields will be a beautiful green. The cattle will love that..

Larry, with your rain, then a sunny 91 degrees you are facing some humidity today. I really dislike humidity, and I hope it does not bother you. You sound like you are feeling better the past few day. Thanks be to God.

Gloria, I think your management stinks ! You need to start a Council among the residents so you have a strong voice of rent paying people to demand what YOU want…not management. They probably want to keep the cost of electricity down till the end of May……not fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hal, I no long care about my check balance…as long as there is money there, I am content, and my Gary sees that there is always plenty. Bis had said at one time that she just accepts the balance the bank says is there, so I felt that was good enough for me too. I hope you are feeling better now Hal.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good Friday Afternoon,  Everyone!

It is a warmish but foggy day here on the rocky
coast of Maine...     Ah Spring Time.

I love it!

Hi, Sandy, You are sounding very perky today, and I like that. You did not let that stroke make a "patient" out of you. That makes me very proud of you.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Amy

We had a fantastic day out!! Weather was perfect, fluffy clouds in the sky and not overly hot for the dogs. They are much more advanced to the south of us, we saw leaves budding out in every shade of green one could image and in the villages we saw magnolia trees in flower!! Just beautiful!!! Coming home we saw cattle in the distance with little brown or black dots about,as we got closer those little dots were small calves soaking up the sun.

Yes, I did manage to enlighten the quilt shop of some fabric, two that they just got and had yet to be unwrapped...soon fixed that! Nipped across the street to the bakery and pick up some chealsea buns some for us and some for our neighbour. Turns out he is on his own for the weekend  and will have to eat them all on his own...much to his delight!!

All in all a grand day!

Amy, I am SO happy for you, and I pray hubby had as good a time enjoy just being out and about. YAY !!!!!!

I will be going down for lunch with my friends, and then for a walk around the gardens and then home...probably for book and a nap.

Be happy my friends !
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

Jenny, thank you so much for your kind words.  The song words, "we shall meet and we will miss him, there will be one empty chair" often comes to mind (or words to that effect).  Jane, I liked the words to your Girl Scout song.  I was not a Girl Scout but I was a Camp Fire Girl and went to camp a couple of times; I just don't remember the songs we sang.

Hi June.    Thank you very much.

My strokes were 5 years ago...   (my how time flies!)and I feel very fortunate to not have had any since then
(knock on wood)...   Of course,   I am being treated with coumadin  and asprin specifically for my blood,  so I don't throw any more clots.

It's never fun to have to fiddle with stuff like that but because I have Atrial Fibrillation  ("A Fib"), (followed by a few strokes)  I will have to be treated for that for the rest of my life.

I feel blessed that I have a treatment that I can live with.
As long as I follow my doctors directions.

No "playing it by ear"  any longer.    I just do what they tell me needs to be done.

I am so happy that Spring is on its way,  with more sunlight and longer days.

I am glad that you are doing well also,  June!

CINDY'S HERE FROM TEXAS!  She and Courtney arrived in town around 2 p.m. and then we all trooped over to Cathy's.  They all had some plans for tonight so they brought me home a little while ago.  We'll all get together again tomorrow and go for pizza at the local pizzeria and then stroll the town Arts Festival.

We're having supper at THE FENCE with everyone!  Then dessert at Cathy's.  And then my birthday celebration will be over.  I suspect I'll be exhausted by that time and ready to sleep.

Gotta go feed the doggies and see that Annie gets her pills. Enjoy your evening!

JaneS have a great time with your family. It is time I wish you all a great rest of the day and bid you all sweet dreams. this rain is getting serious. mud deep enough to mar a snipe, not too far from here flooding and some dams are getting a test. good night everyone.

Lloyd

Gloria

Good morning everyone, a sleepless night for me, too hot and humid. I am about ready to ask my son to put the AC in. Thar will mean about 4 feet of this room being useless. The portable ones take a lot of room and this room is not that big. More rain is due today.

LARRY  yesterday was the first day of sun we had all week.

HAL  glad after the other frustrating times this time you got your checkbook balanced the first time and I know you were happy about that. The manager we have is going bonkers I think. She has been on the warpath here all week and everyone stayed as far away as possible. Glad she is not here on the week ends. Maintenance man has a week vacation coming and if he does not use it he will lose the days and not get paid for them. He is taking next week off and she told hi to take one day at a time because he wasn't going anywhere do he told her he was going to Florida. He has a place in Conn, and that is where he will be. His wife will stay here but she is not o the payroll.

JUNE  we pay our own electricity, not the building. Heck it is not coming out of her pocket. In the winter she does not want the thermostats set above 68° . Here I the front of the building we get sunshine but on the back side they don't get any. A lot of tall pine trees back there and their apartments are cold. Too many are afraid to do anything here, she would make live unbearable for everyone if we got together and complained.

SANDY  love your avatar. I have a few graphics similar that I made into puzzles.

AMY  glad you had a good day for your ride yesterday. Hope it did not tire your hubby too much. But it is always good to have a change of scenery.

MARY ANN  I think we all miss the ones we loved who have been called home. My Mom has been gone for 62 years and I still miss her. Of course with my daughter named for her I could never forget her and how surprised and happy she was that her name would carry on in the family.

JANE  looks like your birthday this year is still being celebrated.  Wonderful that Cindy and Courtney made it too.

LLOYD   looks like you need a break in that rain to let the mud dry up and the dams not burst.

Think I will go and try tp get a couple hours sleep. Have a great day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I got one of the nicest birthday gifts a homeowner can get in the Spring.  My Son-in-Love, Craig, came over and mowed my grass and when he was finished, he said that he'll cut it all summer.  I just need to call him and tell him when it needs it.  Isn't that neat!

I have to go get things started today.  First order of business is to change the bed.  My dauther and SIL from Maryland will be coming up today and they'll spend the night with me.  Then I have a few odds and ends to take care of  before I welcome company.  Make today a good one!

Good morning everyone

Overcast here with some clear sky peeking through.

I had a tough night also,  awake most of the night.,around 2 am a perfume puddy cat was outside my bedroom window and I prayed the dogs wouldn't bark and set him off!!! Have laundry on the go and will be making  the beds shortly, daughter in love is coming up to stay overnight with us.

Gloria, is there someone higher up that you all could go to as a group and talk to? Your manager is not nice and maybe the higher ups should know about it.

Jane, sounds like your walking on a cloud with all the fun and company. That was so nice of your SIL to do the grass for you.

Lloyd, think we are in for rain here but I hope it holds off till I get my laundry dry.

Better get a move on

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hi everyone.  Another overcast morning but we are headed up to 91 degrees today.  I just plan on staying home today.  Yesterday we decided to try out the new Dairy Queen in our area and went there for a big lunch.  It just opened on Wednesday so everything is still bright and new. Today is my youngest great grandson's 6th birthday.  We have never seen him in person so he has no idea of who we are but we have seen many pictures of him.

Gloria, does the manager have air conditioning in the office?  Stacey had this problem for the 6 years she lived in this old apartment house where the heating and air-conditioning was controlled by the apartment management. Is your AC one with the unit inside the room and just an exhaust panel in the lower part of the window?  We used one like that in the upstairs bonus room Stacey lived before having a heat pump put in to heat and cool that area.  I don't understand why the manager would care about where you set the thermostats in winter since you pay the bill.  I would certainly not be comfortable with it being 68 degrees in the winter in our house.  That is where we set it at night.  Older folks usually need it to be warmer.

Lloyd, early start on the new calves.  They sure are cute though.  I always enjoyed seeing them as well as the little pigs when I was growing up on the farm.

Hal, I am willing to do a little searching but not spend a large amount of time to find a small difference.  I most often find it is my error in not entering a check or ATM withdrawal in my Money program.

June, the humidity really doesn't bother me as never out in it for very long.  I have maybe 15 steps from the front door to the mailbox or am getting into the car in the garage and then when I get to where I am going am never out very long.

Sandy, it sounds like you are now enjoying springtime weather.  I am glad you follow your doctor's orders.

Amy, you didn't mention visiting the chocolate shop.  Did you miss that one? I am surprised you have magnolia trees that far North.

JaneS, you will need a vacation after all this celebrating for your birthday.  :)  Nice that Cindy is there to help celebrate your birthday.  Help with your yard is a very nice gift and you don't have to dust it.

Carol

Good morning on a snow day with ice on the roads so we are not running errands today.  We had enough excitement this week.  We just bought a used 2nd car (hybrid) and the battery died in a parking lot while we were meeting two grandchildren.  To the rescue, they wouldn't let us handle anything - their jumper cables didn't work so a tow truck was called and those cables worked. Ft Collins keeps growing too and is not the little city we knew - it took us over 2 hours to drive there we can only reminisce on how fast we used to make it before everyone in the world moved here.   :(

Last night, a son's girlfriend brought her Golden Retriever over for a visit and Daisy liked being held so we had our puppy fix.  Nice!  She likes running in the snow too.

Mary Ann:  Sorry for the loss of your nephew.  You have a wonderful family and many good memories.

CallieOK

Good Morning with a Glub, Glub and a Brrrrrrr!

Snow in the far western Panhandle (borders on Colorado - thanks, Carol!!  ;))
Rain/hail/wind continuing to move across the rest of Oklahoma.
I don't remember ever hearing about snow in Oklahoma on the last weekend of April - nor temperatures in the 40's!

Most folks in the OKC metro area have probably been up since about 2:00 a.m., when the lines (yes, plural!) of storms  began moving through  and I'm sure some of the stories will be on the national news.
Sounds as if we aren't done with them, yet.

All well at my house and the homes of my kids.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good Sunny Morning here from the pleasant rocky coast of Maine.

Gloria... other then the space issue,  how to you like the portable AC..  I am contemplating getting one, when my window AC dies.

I am headed over to Maggies today  for Princess Fe's First Birthday Party..     (You might think that she is the
Queen of Sheba!) ...  Anyhow...  I should see lots of people that I haven't seen in a while.    It is a nice day so what more can we ask for?

I figure Larry,  I don't have a choice..I do what I am told and hope for the best.    :uglystupid2:

Have a nice day,  everyone....

Larry, we did go to the chocolate factory and hubby was the first to grab a basket and start filling it.....with plain bars, truffles and I picked up two boxes of chocolate covered cherries, one for our daughter in love as I know she also loves them.

Sandy , wow  Fe a year old already!! Happy Birthday to Fe. I also love your avatar.

Laundry in off the line and put away...got to love breezy days like this.

Gloria I passed your funnies on for others to get a chuckle ...

Gloria, I liked the e-mails you received.  I could think of one that fit a politician of note today.  With your street corners - I had a cousin named Harrison Feldman.  The family lived in Illinois at the time, but their family and ours rented a cottage on Lake Michigan in northern Indiana.  While going through either Hammond or Gary (this was many, many years ago and my memory doesn't work that well) I noticed an intersection of Harrison and Feldman.

While we have been cooler that past few days, we have not had snow, fortunately.  I did read that the Mackinac Bridge was closed for several hours because of falling ice.  The bridge is about 225 miles north of where I live, but I am sure the closure inconvenienced a lot of people because it is the connection between the upper and lower peninsulas.

June Drabek

Hail, Hail, the gangs all here...just about. We need our Leader, Ms. Bis. I hope you are doing well dear heart, and getting stronger and stronger each day. We love you so much.

Gloria, what is the name of the place where you live ? I would like to investigate as to who is the owner. Your manager is just an employee, and I don't thing the owner of your place would appreciate her attitude. I feel you were better living with your son, and you could still have afforded to call in outside help for cooking or shopping, and paid your son less rent than where you are. We may be old and more dependent, but we still have our mind working.....don't let management steal your rights Gloria.

Sandy, is Fe your only grandchild ? She sure is a darling, and the way the world is going the longer she can be the Princess the better.I know you will have a fun day, girl, so enjoy it to the fullest, and give the little Princess a gentle hug from this old lady, through you.

Callie…the best of news is hearing all is well with you and your loved ones. Same here, to the best of my knowledge. We had a Flea Market in our club house today. I enjoyed looking but did not buy a thing. We need to invite the public in as all of us have all and more than we need or want or have room for.

Larry, you are such a "gooder", I think you would adjust to just about anything, even bad weather.

Janie, you have a VERY caring family. You are truly blessed my friend.

Gloria, I really enjoyed your Proverbs and Street names.  I'll buy that Irish Proverb any time.."a drink precedes a story". My paternal Grandfather was an Irishman from the word go, and he could spin many a gloriously humorous tale.

It is getting on towards lunch time. I intend to have a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and a small salad and etc., depending on my appetite.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

I'm home!  And I'm tired!  I'm going to watch a movie until my daughter Christy and her husband come.  They will be spending the night with me.  They are the ones who live in Maryland.

Tomorrow morning early (as soon as it's light) I'm taking Annie to the Pet emergency hospital for a Ultra scan of her liver.  If they can do it right away, I'll wait.  If they can't I'll have to leave her there and they'll call me to come pick her up.  They won't make an appointment because they are there for emergencies when the regular vets are closed.

Happy Birthday to Fe!  April is a good month to be born and celebrate.

June, you are right.  I do have a loving and caring family.  And I love them right back!

While I was waiting for my daughter to come back from the Arts festival (I opted out of going) I took a ride up to the cemetery where my parents are buried.  I try to go up a couple times a year and especially around my birthday because that's when she went home.  I just sat and talked with them and I know they listened because I felt comforted on the way home.

Now I'm going to go sit on the sofa and watch my movie.  I told my daughter that my sofa is upholstered in zzzzs and that's why people fall asleep there.  My SIL fell asleep today while my daughter and I talked.

Enjoy the rest of your evening!  May God be with us all!

I'm loving your birthday, Jane!!!  Hope they are all so happy.  Know how it is visiting our parents, I do the same.  I know they are always around and plan to leave a note for my kids to "listen with your heart, you will hear me"...........  So sorry Annie must go to the doggie ER.

Time for that Sat night bath, been raining all day here.  The gathering for my classmate was supposed to be this week end but it was called off because of flooding (Springfield,MO)... hopefully it will take place next week end... Things have changed for him already so a big "if" it will happen.

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.  Shirley

Back from a very heart-warming hymn sing at the club house. Our Chaplain leads us and he picked some great hymns tonight. We finished with "Just as I am". So I am off to an early bed with a happy heart. I am especially happy for all of you my dear good friends. See you in the Mornin'.  God Bless. June.

Just a quick note.  I haven't been in the forum all day. SIL came over early and fertilized my yard for me and I watered it in.  But my BP went crazy and it went way low and my head was spinning like a top.  Anyhow things have now settled down and I got most everything watered.  Possible rain/storms tonight but will be only one line and moving fast, so they say.

Janie, hope your Pup is okay.  And hope it doesn't cost you an arm and leg for the US.

Nite all, God Bless and sweet dreams.

Good morning everyone...

Overcast with a promise of rain here today. Laundry blew out and was folded and put away by 10:30 yesterday, love those sunny days with a breeze. Daughter in love arrived around 2 and was thrilled to see what the long arm quilter had done to her quilt. We tried to come up with some ideas on one she is working on.

Today is a day of rest.

Jane,I love reading about all you and your family are doing for your birthday. Hope Annies scan comes back clear.

Hal, hope your feeling much better today and if that persists call your Dr.

Lloyd, hope you found some extra zzzz's.

Good morning Everyfriend!  The younger generation is up and out for a morning walk.  I don't know how many of them are going but at least 4..maybe up to 6.

I didn't take Annie for the Ultra Scan yet.  They don't make appointments so I can do it whenever it suits me.  I want to be here while the kids are around and the vet said there was no hurry as long as it's done before I finish the pills.  I just wanted to do it Sunday because I'd have more daylight hours and wouldn't have to inconvenience someone to take me to pick her up.  Thanks everyone, for the good wishes on her behalf.

JUNE, I'll have to go look up the words to that hymn.  I haven't thought of that one in years and it used to be one of my favorites.

HAL, I hope you're feeling better and I echo AMY's admonition to see your dr. if that condition persists.

LLOYD, I hope you found the zzzs you were seeking.  There are still plenty in my couch.  I'll chase some over to your house.  I've found that they multiply.  It doesn't matter how many you use.  There are always more.

I put some leftover birthday cake in the hidey hole.  I hope you like chocolate with white icing and blue decorations.  Cathy said it took her the better part of 24 hours to complete it.  She called in the order on Friday morning and picked it up on Saturday morning.  And it was delicious wherever it came from.

I wish you all a happy day full of everything you wish for!
