Good morning everyone..

Cold out there this morning but no rain, temp is 30 ° F.

I am taking my vehicle in this morning, dropping it off to get the brakes done and an oil change while in there.  Then we are to a funeral of a friend.

Enjoy your day everyone..

JaneS

Good morning Everyfriend!  We've had a cold (but sunny) start to our day also.  It is 37º right now and only predicted tp get into the mid 50s today.  I guess I got my wish, thought.  I asked for sunshine and it's out there in abundance.  I did not reference the temperature and it's COLD.  I guess I can take the cold as long as the sun is shining.  I'm so tire of dreary, rainy days the sunshine almost makes me sing!

I think I'll cook some of the food I bought yesterday and make up some homemade TV dinners.  Then again, maybe I won't!  We shall see.

JUNE, if you live right over there, I'd share my cabbage roll casserole with you!

I need to call the Vet this morning and find out where we go from here.  Annie will be taking her last of two of the pills this morning.

Make your day whatever suits your fancy!

Hi everyone.  Another cool but beautiful morning.  I hope to have a rather full day today as got up feeling rested for the first time in several days.  I have fixed Pat's breakfast and got things out to fix her sausage muffins.  Then I want to get over to Costco as they open and get a few items.  Finally, if I am not too worn out I want to attend my Monday noon meeting.

When I started to post this morning I saw my posting here yesterday had not posted as there were a couple of messages added while I was typing.  So I am going to include these below before adding any new comments this morning.

=====Posting from yesterday=====

Carol, our kitchen island is at just the right height for easily working on it.  I know the risers for the cutting tables sure save sore backs.

Hal, how nice of your minister to pay your tab at your get together.  I bet he would appreciate having lunch with you.  That type of checkout is a nightmare.  Like you I need to use an electric cart at Lowes as that store is so big.

June, that sounds like a wonderful experience you had with the young people at the worship service.

Callie, do you have a hummingbird feeder?  Pat really enjoys the one she has that she can see from her easy chair in our family room.

Lloyd, sure glad you got out of the doghouse and are back online.

Joy, Happy Birthday.

JaneS, I am beginning to be concerned that we haven't seen Jeanne post for awhile.  I sure hope she isn't back in the hospital.

=====Today's posting======

deAngel, glad to see thta Keith is out of the hospital.  I understand the pillow to the chest as well remember leaving the hospital after my first heart surgery and having to do that.  I had one of my mammary arteries used in the surgery and that created a lot of pain in the shoulder.  A very kind nurse fixed up a pillow with tape around it so it was just right to put my arm on to relieve the pressure and she allowed me to take it home with me and I used it for quite awhile until the pain went away.   Hope the spring flowers don't get frosted tomorrow night.

Hal, Pat is getting some relief in her shoulders when I rub in the Aspercreme with Lidocane.

Amy, does your husband like vanilla ice cream on his apple pie?  I bet a green Christmas is very unusual for you all.  It is not too strange down here where I live.

larryhanna

Just now saw a new posting by Jeanne in the Christian Photographers discussion and that was so good to see.

Mary Ann

When I got up at 7:30 am, our temperature was 32 degrees, which compares with Amy's 0 degrees.  Brrr.  Two hours later we have added a couple of degrees.

Jane's Cabbage Roll Casserole sounds like one I made some time ago and intend to make again; we all liked it.  I have a mini food processor and probably shredded the cabbage in that.  I think I got the recipe from someone here.  Anyone remember?

We had my nephew, Terry's, memorial service yesterday and now everyone is trying to return to normal.  We will miss Terry very much, but we all knew he was not well and would not last long.

It's a beautiful sunny day so far, so that makes it a nice day.

Mary Ann

Good Morning Everyone!

Larry, the Lidocane patches work really well for me and they last for 12 hours.  That is the longest you can leave them on and then they have to stay off for 12 hours.  Of course they don't cure, but then the shots don't either.

My SIL pickedup the items I needed at Lowes so I want need to go.  I fixed the lamp and now I need to buy a new three way bulb.  Is it just me or do the bulbs we get now days just don't last very long.

Our weather is overcast and they are saying possible rain later this week.  But they way things have been going I am not going to count on it.

The wife is up and stirring so I think I will join her on the patio, anyone want to join us, plenty of nice fresh, hot coffee.

Carol

Hal:  I am sipping coffee with Italian Cream in it - so smooth.  thanks for the invitation.

I should have taken notes - instead of being an airhead this morning.  Off for a mammogram today and next week is blood draw and then the annual physical.  I always have the regular tests ahead of time so my doctor (she is a top doc in this state! ) can look at the results rather than later.  she gives hugs too.

You mentioned dancing and I was never able to go to a dance - my dad said no.  I will just sit on the sidelines and watch you enjoying your dance.

Has anyone seen Molly posting?

Don is so excited - he has talked me into taking a road trip this year - he has a cousin in  Duluth, MN who is into her mid-90's and wants to visit - she writes beautiful letters - just recently gave up her car and is so upbeat and happy.  We shall see if this will work out.

CallieOK

Merry Monday,

Another sunny day in central Oklahoma.

Larry,  yes, I do have a hummingbird feeder and so do the neighbors on either side.  The birds probably think they're at a buffet!
I also have three other feeders - one each for sunflower seed, safflower seed and suet.  I'd have to make a list to figure out how many different kinds of birds come to these.
I get the "woodpecker blend" suet and it really does attract them.

Today will happen as it happens - no particular plans....yet.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, sun is shining and the heat is on again. Weather guesser said colder than normal this week. Never saw a spring this cold.

MARY ANN  hope Dot calls the doctor about that double vision after the cataract surgery.

GLORIA de  this weather is crazy this year. I went out for some fresh air yesterday and had my winter jacket on. I did hear that all this rain is good for killing those gypsy moth caterpillars. Hope that is right, they did so much damage to trees around here last year. Good news about your nephew.

AMY  oh boy your dinner yesterday sure looked good to me. Been a long time since I cooked any of that meal. Love the aroma of roast pork in the oven. Of course by now there is no more apple pie in the hidey hole.

JANE  got my states mixed up. I do remember how excited you were.

JUNE  maybe you found the visiting Minister boring and that is why you had trouble staying awake.

JOAN  glad you like the food and are eating. It is good seeing you pop in and will be better when we see you here every day again, with or without your morning goodies. YOU are more than that.

HAL  a white Christmas is beautiful and better than a brown one.

CALLIE  great new avatar.

AMY  I had a couple of those meals on wheels and they were horrible. A frozen TV dinner from the market is even better. One was chicken pressed cubes, the gravy was gray and even smelled bad.

BEVERLY  I know Jeanne Lee does not post here often but she has not showed up at all.

JANE the sun was shining when I started here but now the clouds have taken over, Yesterday was the same. Felt good when the sun was shining and cold when cloudy. After last week's rain I need some sunshine.

LARRY  I have not thought of Aspercreme in years.

HAL  the shot I had Thursday did not help my back at all this time. Of course it was raining and damp and that does not help either.

Good morning.  Just a short message this morning, as I have to go out around 1, so I really need to get myself moving.

I want to thank all of you that wrote me Happy Birthday WIshes.......   Amy, Jane, Gloria, Hal, Mary Ann, Linedancer, June, Beverly, and our Joan.   Joan, it is so nice to see you here and so glad you are feeling better.  We all are looking forward to having you back with us.  (Hope I didn't miss anyone)

I had a wonderful day out for dinner with my family.  Another year older, but don't feel that old.

Have a wonderful day.

Gloria, Dot will see her doctor Thursday for the final check on her surgery.  Her doctor is aware of the double vision when using both eyes; each eye by itself is regular vision.  She will let me know.  It can't last too long because she is still driving and living alone.  Her daughter lives near but has a full-time job and is not available during the day.  And, of course, she is my transportation to church.

We are having another lovely day, still on the cool side but the rain the radar shows seems to be going SE and that should miss us.

It will be nice when Joan can join us again and I'll bet she is anxious too.

Has anyone sent an e-mail directly to Jeanne Lee to see if you get a reply?

Molly hasn't posted in a long time.

The morning has almost disappeared somewhere. I got busy and soaked my miserable feet and lower legs in some epsom salt water, then rubbed in a loft of A and D ointment. The legs have been itching like crazy for some reason. Probably crying for more circulation.

I want to place a grocery order before the morning gets away from me, so I had better go and do it. See you all later. Love you much.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

June Drabek

looks like everyone has been napping, as I was. I eat lunch, come home and fall asleep. I did go out for a long walk after the nap. The rose garden is so beautiful at this time of year, and the sky is so blue with white fluffy clouds..it is a joy to just to walk and view it all.

I had a big lunch, soup, mac and cheese, broccoli, sliced peaches, coffee and tuxedo cake. Now it is time for supper and I am not the least bit hungry.

I haven't looked at the "news" yet..heard about another "hazing" college death. What an idiotic way to treat each other. I wonder what God is thinking ?
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Shirley

I am back, left Sat. morning & have driven over 700 miles... can't count how many times I got lost.  My first night was spent in a Walmart parking lot with lots of other expectant campers... campgrounds bar up... not sure why but flooding.  I expected maybe mud in lower sites but not BARS UP!  Got to tell you, (maybe Jane knows if all buy corn from the same vendor)... I had the best corn on the cob last night at the campground near Kansas City, beautiful place.... that I bought at Walmart the night before (I also bought a $100 gift card to spend on gas for 2 cent discount... and spent $86. of it.)  I take food for when I am tired of fast food.... always put little ZipLoc tubs of roast/gravy or steak & gravy & have the mini cups of mashed potatoes.. or I take along baking potatoes & fix in the microwave.... Good meal.  Was so nice to have electricity after none at Walmart the night before... & I charged my cell phone, FitBit, Magellan GPS... watched good TV, KC area has tons of channels on the antenna & the RV has better antenna than in my house.

Anyway, the mission to visit an old friend while he could enjoy it went well.  Had 12 or 14 come to see him & he was so grateful.  When he was diagnosed 6 months ago "terminal in 6 months"..... they thought his severe dementia would hit first, he was diagnosed with advanced Parkinson's later (no shakes at all), but his body/organs are failing.  He was fully aware of everyone, helped himself to plenty of pizza served & enjoyed the '40s & '50s  music in the background plus the photos of the old days some of us took for him. Last week he was moved to a "constant care" facility, really beautiful place & nice people all around.  Nobody knows when it is their time so we did not call it a good by.... but I did tell everyone that "if anyone got to Heaven before I did, tell 'em all Hi for me"..... About as many gone as can still get around so a valid comment.  He was rolled from his room to a gathering place provided by the "home", and they finally had to close the door we "kids" were so noisy.  Seriously, better than a funeral that the person can't enjoy.  We were always a little off the wall, but a loving crew.  Had 350 students in our class in the 8th grade but not than many graduated.

I am bone tired after waking up about 4:00 am & watching TV for a couple hours.  Went to my brother & wife's house in Overland Park (KS side of KC) & our sister & her husband came 40-50 miles to have lunch together.  My bro & wife have been in FL for 4 months... he is 92... (never guess it) & I drove back to Wichita before the sun was in my eyes.  Been getting phone calls from from the kids so need to fix something to eat.

Belated Happy Birthday, Joy....

JaneS

Shirley, we're just starting to get some sweet corn in now.  Most of the stores (I think) buy it as locally as they can.  If it's in the husks and it's not a available in the area where to store is, it's from the nearest place where it is available.  Just this week we had some in the husks and I think it said it came from North Carolina.  All summer we get it from farmers who are less than 20 miles from our store.

I'm very tired for some reason tonight.  Probably because this was the first sunny day we've had in a long time and I really felt like doing things.  Now I'm going to go to bed so I wish you all a good night and may God bless us, every one.

Well, my goodness!  Thanks everyone for missing me and caring!

It hasn't been any particular problem, just as I said in the post Larry saw in Christian Photographers, I've been "in the doldrums".  I've been looking in here every couple of days, but not had the energy to post and somehow let the new week - as well as a new month - just kid of glide by.  I really must check out some graphics for here and for the Home Page.

It probably won't be much longer, once she's discharged, for Joan to get the Soda Shoppe back to normal.  It sure will be good to see her here again.

Again, thanks for caring.   :smitten:

Jeanne Lee, I completely understand about the doldrums and just no desire to post.  I have been about the same the past few months.  I do read the post and see things I should or could reply to, but don't.  I keep telling myself I will do that tomorrow or later and then just don't do it.

And to top it off got an email today that another of my fellow workers died yesterday.  For some reason it took me by complete surprise.  He was 79.  Not sure where his funeral is going to be.

Bed time, nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.

Joy

Welcome Back, Shirley.  So glad that your trip to see your friend was a good one.  Sounds like you all had a great time.   Hoping everything went well with the RV,  since you didn't mention having any problems.

Thank you for the belated Birthday wishes .   I had a wonderful day.  Since my birthday and Mother's Day usually come in the same week,  I will be celebrating again next Sunday.

Mary Ann,  the other day I happened to think about Molly.  And, thought that she sure hasn't been around for a good while.  I know she was having some health problems,  so do hope that is not the reason for her absent.  I know she used to post over in the Bosom Buddy's  forum and I don't think she has posted anything there, either for a long time.  Funny that you should mention her when I was just thinking about her, also.

Nice to see you back,  Jeanne Lee.  I can understand about having the "doldrums" and not feeling like "talking".  I have some of those kind of days also.

Have a good rest of the night.

It is after mid-night and I should be in bed...

Just finished reading a few days of posts...Shame on me for getting that far behind!

I have been quite preoccupied since Saturday afternoon when I picked up a new kitty to join our family.  He is a 2 year old Russian Blue named Smokey.  I got him from a private home where he was not happy, so with any luck at all he will be happy here being the only pet and no children.  He has spent ,I hope of his time here so far hiding.....very normal, of course, but this afternoon he started coming out a bit and tonight he has been out here with us all evening!  I am SO happy....hope he is over the him now and will not be hiding anymore.

JOY, I am sorry to be late in wishing you a belated
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ❣️ ðŸŽ, 🎉  I am happy to read you enjoyed a nice celebration.  :happybday: and best wishes for many more.

JEANNE LEE, it is good to see your post and to know that you are OK.  Take care and I hope you are feeling better.

MARYANN, It is good to read that the family was able to get together for Terry's memorial service.  May he Rest In Peace.

SHIRLEY, it sounds like you and your classmates enjoyed the time that you spent with your friend.  I hope he does not suffer too much more.

CAROL, I hope you survived the terrible storm we had this afternoon?
It sure was bad, but as you probably know many areas had it much worse than we did.  Bob and I have been to Kneaders but not for quite awhile.  Maybe we should meet ther soon?

JUNE, always enjoy your posts....you always keep us so well informed.

JANE, I hope you have a plan for Annie's dental needs by now?

JOAN, we are all so thankful that you are feeling stronger each day and can not wait for the word that you have been released.  Hugs to you.

I must get to bed.....I would not make a very good 🎃 .

Sleep well EVERYFRIEND.

I am sure I am not the only one you Have helped, I do not know what I would do without you. Have a great day.

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!

Jeanne Lee, I've been to those "doldrums" and they are no fun!  I'm sure you sometimes feel lonely and alone.  Living on one's own can be a chore but you've always done it so well and I'm sure your "doldrums" are not permanent.  But now you know how much we miss you!

We are in the "waiting for the pill on her empty stomach" for Annie.  I don't think the doggie understand this time but they put up with and one more of my weird phases.

I'll be off to WM later this morning so wish me smiles.  I sure could use a few.  The weather is cold (36º when I got up this morning) but at least the sun is supposed to shine all day.  The high is only going to 61.  Typical Spring day in Central PA.  I hope you all have a lovely day full of whatever you like best.

Good morning everyone..

Woke up to SNOW!!! Ground is covered this morning, but I do have to say it is so pretty on the trees. Thankfully it won't last the day so soon enough the rhubarb will be uncovered from it.

The funeral yesterday was a great testimonial for a wonderful man, he was only 57 and shared his life with God, his wife ,three children and two grandchildren. The service was in the largest church here and even that wasn't big enough as the main seating plus the upper balcony was filled ,leaving standing room only.

I am not sure what is on for today other than cleaning and my friend is coming to pick up the chicken breasts for her dogs.

Jane, hope you have a lot of smile and a few giggles at work today.

Jenny, Smokey sounds like a beautiful kitten have fun with all his antics!

Jeanne Lee, nice to see you in here.

Shirley, nice that your vehicle behaved this trip and didn't give you any problems.

Better go get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Subject: The Amish are non-violent people
BUT  IT  PAYS TO KNOW GERMAN.........

An Amish Farmer walking through his field notices a man drinking from his pond with his hand.

The Amish Farmer shouts: "Trinken Sie nicht das Wasser,  die Khe und die Schweine haben hineingeschissen!"

Which means: "Don't drink the water, the cows and pigs have shit in it!"

The man shouts back: "I'm a Muslim, I don't understand your gibberish.  Speak English, Infidel!"

The Amish Farmer shouts back in English: "Use two hands, you'll get more!"

Mary Ann

It's so good to see Jeanne Lee posting.

Someone had mentioned Molly recently which is why I said she had not posted in a long time, Joy, but I didn't go back to find who had asked about her.

Good one, Lloyd.

Amy, we had 28F degrees this morning at 5:30 but fortunately, no snow.  I can't put any plants on my deck until I know we've had the last frost, which is overdue.

Jenny, I hope your new-to-you cat gives you as much enjoyment as Annie's cat does me.  Kendrick may be Annie's cat, but he dotes on me!

It's just after 7 am so I think I'll go back to bed for a while.  It's too early for a retiree to be up for the day!

Mary Ann

Gloria

Good morning everyone, a cold one, 34° is not warm especially in May. I just turned my thermostat up and my winter robe feels good. At least the sun is shining. Yesterday turned cloudy and no more sunshine all day. Glad my winter jacket is in the closet. Will need it today if I go outside.
How would you like being in your kitchen making brownies and suddenly have a big black bear at your door trying to get in? That happened yesterday to a lady in Avon, Mass. I think I would have fainted at that sight. She ran from a different door to a neighbor and he went to the house and took a picture from inside with the bear standing with his paws on the window. They did call 911 but the bear left before anyone arrived.

JOY  glad you had a good birthday. You sound like me, when I have to go anywhere I start getting ready hours ahead of time.

MARY ANN  I did not have any of that double vision when I had the cataract surgery and this is the first time I heard anyone having that problem. Hope it goes away for Dot.

JUNE  I blame my dry skin on not eating right. No appetite and being unable to cook much of anything. I do have some meals from Schwan's in the freezer, yesterday I had a turkey with mixed veggies and it is very tasty but could not even eat half of it. I just saw more on the news about that hazing death. 18 have been accused of it and that fraternity has been banned from the campus. Those 18 should be arrested.

SHIRLEY  looks like your friend enjoyed the gathering. Let him know he was not forgotten and still loved by old friends. Great that you saw your family, too.

JEANNE LEE  great seeing you this morning. If your weather is anything like we have been having  that is enough to get anyone into the doldrums.

JENNY  hope Smokey adjusts fast and likes to be petted.

JANE  on local news they were talking about the temperatures overnight and one town recorded 30°, hope they had no delicate plants out. We have a chance of rain every day and more rain on the weekend. Hope you have nothing but smiles in your line today.

AMY  I would like to go and pick just 1 rhubarb from your garden, wash it and have a bit of sugar to dip the end in and eat away till it was gone. Have not done that in years.

LLOYD  smart Amish farmer.

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful day here in South Carolina and is predicted to get to 90 degrees this afternoon.  Today was suppose to be my Echo cardiogram but was called a little bit ago saying the tech was ill today so it was rescheduled until the 19th.  I have written to my doctor's office regarding the followup appointment I had with the Cardiologist on Friday to see if that appointment shouldn't also be rescheduled since the test results won't be available.  I did manage to accomplish all that I had set out to do yesterday and had a day when I felt reasonable good.  However, I seem to be paying for it today and am glad I can stay home.

We did receive the sad news that my brother-in-laws mother had passed away last evening.  She was near 100 years old and had been in the nursing home probably for the last 10 years or more.  She was wonderful person who taught Sunday School for over 50 years and taught high school mathematics for many years.  Her older son was a very good friend of both Pat and mine during out college years and was actually a part of our wedding.  It has always been my intention that we would be there as support for my BIL and Sister but life intervenes and neither Pat nor I am really up to flying to Kansas City and then driving a 100 miles to the town where the funeral will be held.

Hal, the Lidocane patches sound like the Nitro patches in that they can only be worn for 12 hours on and 12 hours off.  The relief from the pain isn't permanent but sure appreciated while it is happening.

Carol, hope you all enjoy your road trip this year.

Callie, you sound like a really bird loving person.  I enjoy seeing the little birds on my front porch chair and there was one there a little bit ago just singing up a storm.  I checked and the mother bird is still on the next.  I haven't seen any little heads sticking up yet but expect to soon in the four story nest.

Gloria, sorry to read that your shot didn't help your back this time.

June, I would enjoy walking through your rose garden with you as I love roses.  We lived in Raytown, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City, for nine years.  The house we bought their had a large rose garden in from of our family room and had many beautiful roses.

Shirley, glad you see you had a good trip to Missouri and that you didn't get stuck in a campground somewhere.  Glad the visit with your old friend went well. Your visit with him while alive is so much better than going to his funeral.  You all sound like you were a noisy bunch.  Good for you all that you had such a good time.

JaneS, nice to know that Walmart gets their sweet corn as close to the store as possible.  I am looking forward to having some fresh sweet corn on the cob again this year as we did last year.

Jeanne, I have had the thought for sometime that with all the material Joan has posted for us in the past that it would seem like new for some of the older posting she made to be re-posted.  I know I don't remember a lot of what I have read in the post and it would seem like new to me.  It sure would save her a lot of work.

Joy, glad your family don't combine the birthday and Mother's Day celebrations so you get to enjoy seeing family and perhaps eating out twice in just a few days.

Jenny, I hope you and Bob enjoy the new pet.  Will you be able to take him with you on your travels.  I bet Dr. Dave's family will help you out there.

Lloyd, you certainly are not a bad penny and you are certainly a good and faithful friend to us all in these discussions.

Amy, glad your snow will not last through the day.

Joy

Good morning.  Pretty sunshine out this morning.  But, still a little too chilly.  Hopefully, spring will be back soon.  Some of the northern counties had a frost warning and people who had just put out plants would need to cover them up.  Hard to believe that it is almost the middle of May.  My son was saying the other day, that he remembers my dad always saying that you didn't plant anything until after May 17.

Jenny, thank you for the belated birthday wishes.  Nice to see your message this morning. Hope you will have many years of happiness with your new pet.  I would like to have a little kitten.  One of those rag doll kittens.  But, I just don't think I have the energy to take care of it all the time.

Yes, Larry, I will be going to my son's on Sunday for dinner.  That should be the end of the celebrating. Although,  I do have something extra to celebrate. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday to go over a PET scan and some other x-rays and blood work and was so happy that everything was really good.  Everything has remained stable and unchanged since my last one in October, 2016.  That is always good to hear,  It has been 10 years of this long fight and I continue to do well, with lots of family support and mainly, lots of prayers. I have been on a chemo pill for over 2 years now, and evidently, it is doing it's job.  I feel so blessed.  So, that is another reason for celebrating "Mother's Day".

Yes, Gloria.  I have to give myself a while to get ready when I am going out.  I need to sit down in between getting dressed.  But, I just take my time.

Need to get on with my day.

Sun is shinning!!!

Picked up my groceries and have them put away...wood box is filled and kindling in too. Now to go play..or straighten sewing room...hmmm decisions decisions.

Joy , my friend was on chemo pills from '92 to 2012 and he did well on them. What amazed me was if the pill dropped and broke ,you have to wear a mask and gloves to pick up the contents yet you could swallow the pill!! As long as they do the job that is the main thing.

Good Morning Everyone!

Overcast drizzly morning and more t storms forecast for the afternoon, tomorrow and Thursday morning.  But we shall see.

Larry, I usually try putting the patch on around 9AM and off about 9PM and it works pretty good for me.  Not much pain while I am in bed, that is until about time I get up.

I hope everyone is having a good day.  Wife is out shopping with daughter and I just finished up cleaning the kitchen, now got to go mess it up trying to find something to have for lunch..... :crazy2:
