Hi everyone.  We start today off on an overcast note.  We do have a 40% chance of rain today and will be getting up into the high 80's this afternoon. After a pretty much wasted day yesterday spent mainly laying down resting, I feel more alert.  I will be picking up my friend at the assisted living facility and we will go downtown for coffee with other friends.  I will take him home, as usual, afterwards and if I still have enough energy will go back downtown to attend the Wisdom group with the pastor.  That will be it for today unless Pat wants to go out to eat this evening.  We did have a nice visit with Scott and Jennifer after our dinner at Church last evening.

Gloria, yesterday I read in the county newspaper that there is still a drive-in theater in the county and they had announced their summer schedule.  I was shocked as thought all of those outdoor theaters had gone by the wayside.  Our ceiling fans were already installed as a part of this new house and we use them a lot.

Jenny, nice to read that you are going to stay a little longer in Austin to spend time with your son and DIL.  The Mexican meal sounds delicious and certainly not the type of food we find in the Mexican restaurants in this area.  I have never lived where I could use Southwest Airlines but sure have heard a lot about them.  I think Tuesday is usually a bit of an off day for the airlines and thus the better fares.

Shirley, as far as I know all DVD players will also play CD's.  Using a CD player for a group would be much better than putting them on your Kindle or iPod and trying to play them for a group unless you had a couple of small external speakers.  We haven't had KFC in a very long time.  Pat seems to have a preference for Bojangles and I try to stay away from fried foods as much as possible.

Sandy, I think we are going to see more and more armed guards in places like Government offices, banks and now even churches are starting to have guards on duty.

JaneS, it sounds like there are big plans for the next few days in recognition of your birthday.  I will go ahead and extend Happy Birthday greetings in case I forget over the weekend.

Lloyd Hammond

JaneS glad you are feeling good and rested this Morning and still have a big smile. Have a great day. I am up for the day now. the sun is coming in and out making up it's mined to stay bright or not. it must be trying to copy of of Amy's weather. Thank God and who ever else did spell checker . i sure have a hard time when to put in or leave out those i & e's. I think the sun is finley going to make it.

Mary Ann, sending prayers and sympathy for your family - and especially for Jan.
My husband was 59 when he died.  However, I did not have parents to look after.  May God surround her with courage, strength and comfort in the days ahead.

Janie, I know you are going to have a VERY Happy Birthday.....you have such a wonderful family that love you so much. But I want to add my greetings, with a prayer that you have many, many, more wonderful years to come.

I lost my post somewhere along the line....but all is well here. Eye is better but still a dark red in less area. Beautiful day in Stanton.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Happy Birthday, Jane.  Sounds like you will have a nice lunch with your daughter.  And, an even more special day celebrating with your family on Saturday.
Supposed to be a nice day here, and hopefully, the same weather will extend a little further north and give you a nice warm day to be eating outside.  Sounds like a neat place.

MaryAnn,  I am so sorry to read about Terry's passing.  Even tho you have been expecting it, it is still hard to understand.  Hope he is in peace.  His wife sure has a hard time facing her.  Even with her being a nurse,  it is hard when a special person passes away.  Sympathy to your whole family.

A pretty sunny day here, after a real foggy morning.  Supposed to be up near the 80 degrees the rest of the week.

Have a wonderful day.

Pine cones raked up and some crab apples too. Tree still has some apples on it to come down yet. We are to get rain ,high winds and possibly hail too tonight. Great more pine cones and crab apples to be raked up. Watched swallows argue over which bid house they were going to use, noisy little birds! Brushed both dogs so now the birds will have some soft fur to line their nests.
I have salmon and tilapia out for supper, baked potato and green beans to go with it.
I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.

Thank you for the wishes Linedancer.

Supper sounds pretty good, Amy!  And did the doggies get their toenails cut, too?

MaryAnn, I have a small fantasy I'd like to share with you.  My mother died the day before my birthday and that would make it the same day you lost your Tim.  I picture my mother watching for anyone who comes home to heaven on the same day she did and going out of her way to bid them welcome.  She always liked it when something important happened on the same day as something important happened to her.  I see her, not just shaking Tim's hand, but giving him a big hug and welcoming him to whatever is happening there.  He will like her and he can meet the rest of my family, too.

I guess I'm a bit of a Pollyanna but I like to believe in good things!

Janie..way to go girl......believing in good things !!!!! Makes life glorious.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

Jane, that is a nice thought and I think of Terry (not Tim) meeting up with his folks and two sets of grandparents.  He did not know my mother, who died many, many years ago, but he did know the others.  I wish someone up there could tell me about one of my great-grandmothers whose information has created a brick wall for me!  Their souls must have met by now.

Terry's maternal grandmother died April 20 a few years ago.  Her daughter, the boys' mother had a birthday April 22 and the funeral was held that day.  It's hard to have a celebration with a memory like that.

Mary Ann

JaneS

Sorry about the name mix but all those ts are intimidating.

The year my mother passed on, she went into the hospital on Good Friday and she died the day before my birthday and was buried on the day after it.  I was a long time getting over that but I knew, Mom wouldn't like it if I carried my grief too long.  I understand how hard that would be for anyone.

My daughter is on her way to pick me up to go for Chinese.  This is a celebration I'll enjoy!

Mary Ann

Jane, don't worry about the name mix-up, just imagine their parents wanting one of them and calling "Tim, Tom, Terry" with a last name of Tock!

Mary Ann

JaneS

Well, I guess they didn't really have to decide who they wanted.  They could call the roll and get them all.  And I'm not one to cast aspersions about that.  My girls are Cathy, Cindy and Christy.  My son had to be Philip after his father.  My daughter Cathy told me one time that she doesn't mind being called Cindy or even Christy.  She kind of objected to being called Philip but when I threw in the dog's name that where she drew the line.

Dinner was great and the company was even better.  We came home and had cake in the form of a very large cupcake split between us.  Cathy lit the candles and then said, "Do I have to sing?"  I said, "Of course".  So she did.  I told her she did a better job when she was 5.  But I loved it!

While she was still here, Natalie called from Houston and we had a nice visit.

Shirley

I'm so sorry that Terry is gone, Mary Ann.  It is so hard to watch someone die slowly, it is almost a relief when they don't have to suffer any longer.  No matter how long we know, it is still a shock when it is over for them.  My sincere sympathy to Tom & Terry's wife, to you, and all the family that loved him.  In my mind Norm was holding out his hand to make it easier for Terry to join his brother and all the others that have gone before.  It still leaves a big gap in our lives when we have to give up a loved one, especially so young.

Jane, glad you are getting a chance to extend the celebration & am sending lots of  :hugs:  and  :hb3:  wishes all week end!  Enjoy!

We also had family die or buried on others birthdays.  My mother's oldest sister died on my father's birthday when I was 10, I never forgot every year on Dad's birthday & mentioned that to my cousin, oldest daughter of my aunt.  She was surprised I knew the date of her mother's death and never knew it was Dad's birthday until I told her some 70 years later.  My youngest son was pallbearer on his birthday, for my father.  The family picked same age grandchildren from each family.  I always felt sad for his sake (son).

I've spent the day learning how to load the old songs to my iPod..... not to use at the gathering but for ME to play when I want & don't have a CD player or internet handy.  It is the iPod Touch that I bought Cas years ago but he hardly used.  32GB so will hold all the tunes I care to load.  I am pleased so far, only played the Glenn Miller one & "Best of the '50s", which is 2 vol set.  I didn't open the other 2 that came because I'm pretty sure they are duplicates of ones that came in the box I haven't opened yet, just arrived.  At least I am being charged yet for more than I wanted so will have to get that worked out.

Had a phone call from one of the classmates planning to drive to MO on Sat, concerned about the threat of severe weather from here to MO.  I plan on going unless "something" absolutely stops me.  Did not get done all the things on my list for today, but I'll do better tomorrow or it won't get done.  Mowers were here today so took time out to flag my little trees & flowers so they didn't fly through them.... they mow so fast the grass just lays down until they get past & stands back up after they leave!  Have to unlock & lock gates back & move the down spouts back to the grass with rain predicted for the next 4 days.  My daughter was hungry for KFC so we ran to pick some up for lunch & I sent most of the leftovers with her, she has a meeting or lecture tonight on campus.

Better get off here & make a necessary call before it is too late.  It got dark all of a sudden.... or I've just been sitting here too long.
Sweet dreams & God Bless.  One more Happy Birthday, Jane!

Mary Ann

Shirley, thank you so much for your kind words.  June isn't the only one who has a way with words; you do too.

I was supposed to have my windows washed tomorrow, but because of Terry's death and the fact I thought we'd be busy over the weekend, I called him off.  Then I found that the memorial service will be the following week.  I have a lot of things to get away from windows and I'm not good at keeping at things, so I think that was a wise decision.

The cat just came in to tell me it is 10 pm, time for his treat.  Then I replenish his food and water and he's set for another day.  I do not cook food for him, he eats what we get at the store.

JANE, I wish you a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  I hope you enjoyed your meal.  Best wishes for many more healthy and happy years to come.

MARYANN, my condolences to you and the family in the passing of your beloved Nephew Terry.  He is now out of pain and hopefully meeting up with Norm and the other family members. HUGS to you.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning Everyfriend!  God has created a new day...silver and green and gold.  Live that the sunset may find us, worthy his gifts to hold!

Those are the words of an old Girl Scout song that comes to mind many mornings.  I wanted to share the words and the thought with all of you.

It't going to be a GREAT day!

Thank you, Jenny for the birthday wishes.  I'm keeping my birthday feeling all weekend because my kids will all be together under one roof this weekend.  That hasn't happened in two years now.

I'm off to Wally World this morning.  Wish me smiles!  I wish you all the pleasures of a new day!

Hi everyone.  We have another overcast day like we had all day yesterday but we should see the sun later and get up to 91 degrees.  I did go to coffee yesterday but another friend offered to take my friend back to his assisted living facility so I was able to go directly up the street about three blocks to attend the Wisdom group at the Church.  I then stopped at Aldi's for a few items we needed.  Today I will go to Walmart to pick up Pat's online grocery order in a little while.  As far as I know now that will be it for today.  The yard people are here already this morning trimming, mowing and blowing the grass off of the hard surfaces.

JaneS, that is a nice fantasy.  It sounds like you had a delightful time with Cathy and of course you needed to have Happy Birthday sung to go along with the birthday cake (cupcake).

Amy, is it a coincidence that your trip today happens to go to those tempting stores or is it just good planning on your part.  Enjoy.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, another couple of humid nights and I will ask my son to put my AC in. The manager does not want them in till the end of May. Two nights of not sleeping are horrible. I have read the posts but really have no comments.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, so far it has been a good day.  I balanced the checkbook on the first try and that kinda makes my day.  Larry, I remember what you told me and wish I could do as you do, but I like to find my error(s).

Lloyd that was good news about the calves, sure it doesn't make you unhappy.  Will put a little more jingle in the pocket.

Gloria, don't see what difference it makes about the when in May you put the a/c in.  Weather doesn't worry about dates, does it.  We have had our central a/c on for at least six weeks now.

We have the cleaning lady here today, not a scheduled day, but we are have some folks over for supper tonight and she wanted the house nice and clean.

Janie, may all your customers have a big smile on their face as you serve them.  I know you will bring out the best in them with you smile and cheerfulness.   Enjoy the remainder of your birthday weekend.

Got to get in and clean myself up so everyone have a great day.
