Hi everyone.  It is another glorious Sunday morning with the sun out and no wind.  We should get up to 77 degrees this afternoon and this will be a perfect day for the conclusion of the Master's Golf Tournament.

We had a most pleasant and unexpected surprise late yesterday afternoon.  We have a step-grandson whom we hadn't seen for more than 7 years.  Our granddaughter arranged for he, his wife and two young boys (9 years and 9 months) to come over and see us.  We had a nice visit and then went to Pizza Hut for dinner with them.  They are coming back over sometimes this morning.  I have a commitment to bring the devotional at Sunday School this morning so will go to Sunday School but not stay for church so I can be here with them as long as possible.  The little nine month old is a pure bundle of energy and is crawling and pulling up and is very strong and heavy.  He kept us all entertained.

Hal, Mickelson appears to be out of the top competition but Jordan Speith certainly is in contention only two shots back. This is his fourth Masters and he has one win and two seconds.  There are several in contention so it should be a good day for watching the finish of the competition.

June, how many Easter eggs did you find?  Glad you enjoyed seeing the children hunt the eggs and the scrumptious luncheon provided.

Hal you were welcome to the winds as we were tired of them.

Shirley, we shred the cheese as Pat feels it is fresher that way.  We have an electric shredder that works like a charm.  We get some very good cheese at Costco, both cheddar and Parmesan that grates very well.  Really the only work is cutting the block of cheese out of the packaging, which is no easy task, and then cutting into strips that will fit the tube to guide the cheese into the shredder. The grater comes all apart and is safe for the dishwasher, which makes cleanup very easy compared to the hold hand held grater.  We have used the pre-shredded cheese in the past and like the Mexican blend.

Callie and JaneS, I have always liked those types of salads whether green stuff or any other color.  They usually call for a second helping.

JaneS, it is your home so you should have your furniture as you want it.  My grandmother was always moving her furniture around two or three times a year.

Amy, it has been our experience that once we get furniture placed it usually stays there.

Jeanne and Phyllis, thanks for getting our new week off on the right note.

Hal, is there a lot of work to be done in preparation for the Passover meal?

Good Morning,

Re:  fruit salad.....I can't always find apricot pie filling and it's a bit tart for some tastes.  Peach pie filling is a very good substitute.

Today's worship service will be a Lenten Cantata with choir and orchestra.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere and Enjoyable and Blessed Day.

LARRY  glad you had a good trip to meet your friends. I only have to go out away from home for a few hours and am happy to get home and lay on the couch for half an hour. I often wonder what my parents would think of what we have these days. I know TV was a great thing for them when they first got one. I have heard/read that if you freeze the block of cheese it is easier to shred.

MARY ANN  that item about Grandma I got from an email I get and it had pictures with it but could not post the pictures here. I know I sent it to several family members.

HAL  I feel like you, I am more than a year older than you and come what may I am ready.

JUNE  I would sit in my window to watch the Eggstravaganza unless I had a comfortable seat in the shade.

SHIRLEY  when I read that Grandma's email I loved it and knew I had to copy it. Do you know the bags of shredded cheese have -I think it is cornstarch- covering the cheese so it does not clump?

CALLIE  both of your salads sound great. I am going to copy both. Thanks for posting them here. I think even I can make both of them.

JANE  I would love to rearrange the furniture in this room. The day I moved in my grandson put the PC here in this corner and I would love to have it on the opposite side of the room. I would need Cox came to get the wiring put in for that side. Would like my couch at this wall. Yikes Palm Sunday crept up on me. Thanks Jane for waking me up. Next Sunday is Easter already. Guess because the weather has been so terrible with cold and rain I never gave it a thought.

AMY  never had a crow wake me but did have a Mocking bird wake me in the middle of the night when we had a full moon. I woke thinking it was almost time to get up and listened to all the bird calls till I realized they were all coming from the same direction. I finally looked at the clock and it was 2AM.

JEANNE LEE  thanks for the new page.

PHYLLIS  love your graphic for this week. Simple and so appropriate.

DON I know you and Bubble will enjoy the celebration of Passover.

LARRY  wonderful you got to see you step grandson and family. I envy you seeing them. I used to move furniture around at least once a month. That way I knew everything in back of it was clean, even the corners.

A good Palm Sunday to all.  I can not believe Easter is next Sunday.

We will be returning to Austin this coming Friday to doggie sit for our son and dil as they head to Japan for a vacation.  That means we will not be with family for Easter.  It will certainly seem strange.

I received the following from a cousin, and thought some of you might get a chuckle out of it.

SEENAGER

I JUST discovered my age group!  I am a Seenager. (Senior teenager)

I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50-60 years later.

I don't have to go to school or work

I get an allowance every month.

I have my own pad.

I don't have a curfew.

I have a driver's license and my own car.

I have ID that gets me into bars and the wine store.  I like the wine store best.

The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant, they aren’t scared of anything, they have been blessed to live this long, why be scared?

And I don't have acne.

Life is Good!  Also, you will feel much more intelligent after reading this, if you are a Seenager.

Brains of older people are slow because they know so much.

People do not decline mentally with age; it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains.

Scientists believe this also makes you hard of hearing as it puts pressure on your inner ear.

Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for.  It is NOT a memory problem; it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise.

SO THERE!!

ENJOY your day, EVERYFRIEND!

Jenny

Good Sunday morning dear hearts. I have followed through on all my schedule, massage, readings, and breakfast. Now I can greet you all before I get dressed for Church.

Amy, my balloon dog Blue, still resides on my bookcase overseeing all I do. And now you have adopted another responsibility ….Mr. Crow. And they can be very demanding in a raucous manner. What does he get for breakfast ??

Good Morning LLoyd. Salads are not that fattening my friend, so enjoy Nancy's creations.

Jeanne Lee, Thank you for a new week of friendship, and Phyllis, thank you for the very expressive Palm Sunday greeting. Jesus is starting his trip to the Cross.

Don, Good Morning to you and Bubble !

Larry, have a great day with your Grandson and his family, I recall how much you care for him. I did not gather any Easter eggs Larry, I don't get around too well with my cart, so I enjoyed watching the little ones, and their parents.

Gloria, like you, once I get through with Church I too have to come home and lay or recline for a while till it is time to go for lunch. I'm just glad we can still get out and about. The eight days I spent in the care facility was a good lesson, to slow down and rest, then enjoy a bit, then more rest.

Time to get dressed now and off to the Chapel. See you all later.

Good Sunday Morning Everyone...

I am looking forward to the Masters Finale this afternoon (hopefully) ....  They also will be doing a spot on the late Great Arnold Palmer,  which I will try to watch, but it really gets to me.     There has always been Arnold Palmer,  and now he is no more...

So Sad...

But I am looking forward to the final game of the Masters.

Have a good day,  Everyone!

I agree with those of you who commented that "it's my house and I should have it arranged as I like it."  You are 100% right about that.  However, I was pretty sick and hospitalized when they did it and they shampooed the carpet and bought me a new recliner and rearranged room for it.  I'd been wanting one but had not yet figured how to fit it in.  But they thought I needed it during my recuperation period and they did it.  They were also taking turns staying at my house to take care of the doggies and I was grateful for that.  I didn't want to hurt any feelings so I lived with it.  Yesterday, I thought it was time to "express myself" and have it the way I want it.  I'm sure they'll be considerate and keep their thoughts to themselves and that's fine with me.

Callie, I just replenished my ingredients for "Helen's Green Stuff" and I got a text from Cathy (my daughter) inviting me for Easter Dinner.

Jane, if any length of time has passed since your room was rearranged, I think others would not mind if you changed it.  After all, that is our right as home owners to change the locations of things.  I would if I had the strength and there is no one else to do it.  Besides that, I don't have a lot of room to move things to - just one side of the room or the other.

Jenny, I enjoyed the piece your cousin sent.  So true.

We are having a beautiful sunny day and it is hard to believe my thermometer which reads over 70 degrees.  After having 25 degrees a few days ago, I'm loving it.  Neither Dot nor I wore coats to church this morning.

Grand Haven is pretty today - sunny - and people are flying kites.

Mary Ann, I scraped ice off my windshield before church this morning and right now it's 65º!  I have the door open and the screen up for the doggies to go in and out.  They've been out more than in since I got home from church and the grocery store.

Sandy,  that really does look like fun !   And, a perfect day for it, also.   I wouldn't have been one to try it when I was a lot younger, but I am sure my boys would have loved it.   I liked the water, and wasn't afraid of it, but just didn't go in for that kind of water sports. I was just as happy to paddle around on my raft.

I'm afraid I would not be one of those wind surfers, even when young.  But there are a lot of them.  The wind must be just right for those young men to be doing that.  At first, I thought they would be on shore, holding on to a rope, not out on the water.  Heck, when I was that young, I doubt they had such toys.

Mary Ann, a lot of things have changed since we were young. The nice thing about being in our nineties is we have good excuse to sit back and watch the younger generation do their thing, and just live it through them. We did not have all the "toys" that are made now, we invented our own.

Had a good lunch, so now it is time for that afternoon siesta.

I finished my chat with Natalie and she thanked you all again for you nice comments about her Fellowship.  This week's chat was about spirituality and how it helps Senior Citizens.  I was able to make some good comments partly based on some of our discussion in here.

Callie, I told her about the pinl/green stuff discussion and she loved it.  "Helen" is her other grandmother.

I have some Mahi Mahi filets marinating and I'm going to bake them to perfection later for my supper tonight and a couple times this weeK.  Buttered potatoes and green beans will go with them.  Leftovers in the hidey hole later!

Janie, Your supper sounds deeeeeelicious.  Mine won't compare in delectability, but I did have a big tasty lunch so it will be a light supper.

Had a nice long nap again, but still not ready to go out makin' whoopee....I'm tired. And this body is content to just stay home and enjoy my computer or book or take a stroll around the hallway. I am not a t.v. person so don't watch much of that unless it is breaking news on Fox. Always good to hear of NO disasters.

Callie, I have been making the jello salad for years, it is what I take to covered dish dinners.  My son when he was young would ask me to make jello junk I use to put it in a dish called a Penguin it kept it cool

Phyllis and Jeanne thanks for starting our day

GloriaDe...In my old house, I changed the bedroom Spring and Fall.  There was a nice little alcove under the windows and between the closets.  I liked the bed under the windows but since we didn't have central a/c in that house, we had a window mount a/c.  I just couldn't sleep right under the a/c so I moved the bed to the other side of the room for the summer and then back again in the fall.

Leftovers are in the hidey hole.  Supper was (in June's words) deeeeeeelicious and I'll enjoy it just as much tomorrow.

TV is BAD!  I can't find anything good to watch so I'm going to play some computer games for a while.  Enjoy the rest of your day, Everyfriend!

Janie, I made myself go out for a walk around the hallways, then did a few minutes of exercise on one of the machines they have moved to our Lobby up stairs.repairs being made downstairs. Some one set the machine to work too hard so I didn't spend more that a few minutes on it.

Gosh, I wish we could have some news on our Bis. I keep telling myself to look positive, which we all do, but that doesn't take away the missing of her messages to us.

Jenny, have you seen anything new posted about Bis  ??????

My Mom always made a furniture change Spring and Fall, and when I married, I started to do the same and my husband threw a fit. I guess his Mom never did that, so I ceased too. Now I'm too old to move anything that isn't on wheels.

Phil used to tell me that he was never sure he was in the right house after I spent the day cleaning and moving things.  But the fact that they were moved never bothered him.  He ust liked to tease me.  As long as his chair was where he could see the TV he was fine with wherever other furniture was..

I'm finished playing games and I did a couple of other things that I needed to do on the computer and now I'm going to find something else to do.  Maybe I'll have some ice cream.  Anyone want to join me?

I pray you and all our dear friends here in the Soda Shoppe have a peaceful night, and a happy healthful tomorrow. I love you all very much. God be with you this night.

JUNE, I watch for a update everyday on Face Book, and sure wish I had some good news to share.

Today is my dad's 93rd Birthday.  There was a BBQ in his and Diane's honor  today, hosted by Diane's Family.  Yesterday was her birthday.  Of course I wish I were there, but will go down again to see him soon.  My brother and his wife were there last week with him.

I used to move furniture around nearly every Friday when I cleaned.  My husband would comment on it, but never complained.  To me it was the only thing to do as I cleaned.

We spent a rather leisurely day watch The Masters.

I roasted a pork loin, made mashed potatoes and had wilted Spinach.  It tasted pretty good.

LARRY, I was happy for you and Pat to have the surprise visit from your grandson and his family.  I hope you all had another wonderful visit today.

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

Looks like a nice day in the making here. Taking hubby to a Dr appointment today and both dogs will go with us. They love the ride and the treats too if we stop for lunch, knowing we always bring something out for them.
Yesterday was a lazy day,I even tucked in a long nap too!I did manage to throw a pot of soup on the stove to cook though.

Jenny, Happy Birthday to your Dad....my Dad's birthday was on the 6th and he would have been 103!!

Better get a move on.

Good morning Everyfriend!  We slept until we woke up today and that was about 6:45.  The doggies have been out after I went out first to check for skunks.  Every since they found one inside the fence, I precede them to check.  This morning there was evidence that one had been around.  I'm hoping it just means that someone else surprised it.  But I did a much more thorough check than I usually do.

They are back in now and ready for breakfast.  I hope you all have a lovely day and I'll check back to see what you've been up to.

Good morning everyone, we had a beautiful spring day yesterday. Spent most of it outside enjoying the warm sunshine and fresh air. Today is supposed to be warmer ar 70°.  I took my book and went and sat on the porch and it was not long before I put the book away because some others decided to sit on the porch, too. Wonderful afternoon with talk and laughs.

JENNY  like you seemed so surprising to know it was Palm Sunday and Easter is almost here. Like your Seenager. I will copy it and share it.

JUNE  I only lay on the couch to rest my back. I do that a couple of times a day, better than taking another pain pill.

SANDY  love that big smile on Fee. She is adorable.

JANE  my children grew up wwith me changing the furniture around often so they never made any comments.  In this apartment I do not have much choice. I would love to change my bedroom arouns but cannot. Bed has to be near the emergency pull cord, one of the rules here.

MARY ANN  feels great to go outside without a winter jacket on doesn't it?

JOY  like you I was never adventurous but loved being in the water at the ocean or lake.

GLORIA de  like you I spent most of yesterday out on the porch here. Was great seeing a few others here get out of their apartments, too. I will be out there again today when my CNA leaves. Tomorrow is to be warmer but I have a dentistt appointment but will stay outside when I get home.

JANE  I have been watching more on MeTV lately. Lot of the old ones we used to enjoy. Better than what is on regular TV these days.

JENNY  like you almost every week I moved furniture around. No one ever complained, they were used to it.

AMY  glad you finally had an easy day yesterday. About time.

JANE for sure you do not want your fur babies to meet up with a skunk.

Good Morning Everyone!

We are suppose to have some rain today and tomorrow with possible severe thunderstorms.  I noticed in paper this morning they are marking the anniversary of the Rocksprings tornado 90 years ago.  It is suppose to be the 3rd worst tornado every to strike in Texas killed 70 people.  Rocksprings is not a very large pace up in the hill country..

I have a busy day ahead, have to take care into body shop to have it repaired and then later I have a doctors appointment at BMAC (Big military hosp)  I hope I don't have to walk very far, if I do it will take me forever.  Got to find where I have to go when I get there.  Steve, my SIL, is taking me and he is good at finding the way.

Gloria it was nice to hear you got some fresh air and companionship instead of staying couped up in your room for a change.

I watched some of the Masters yesterday, up until almost the end, then we had to go over the Granddaughters for supper and their TV cable was out so didn't get to see the finish.  Happy for Sergio and I know he is happy to have his green jacket and of course the 1.9 million that goes with it.

Everyone have a great day.

Hi everyone.  We are in for another very pleasant, sunny and warm day here in South Carolina.  We had another nice, although short visit yesterday at lunchtime with our step grandson and his family before they left to return to their home near Atlanta.  I did go to Sunday School as I had made a commitment to bring the devotional so I went but didn't stay for church.  On the way home I stopped at Krogers and got three large subs, potato salad and cole slaw and a big bag of various small bags of chips for our lunch.  It was quick and easy.  It wasn't the best lunch but it served the purpose.  As soon as they left I laid down but got involved in the golf tournament and couldn't go to sleep.  Needless to say I went to bed early last night.

This morning I emptied the dishwasher and fixed Pat's breakfast.  Pat had ordered some new Corelle dishes to replace the plates, etc, that we had been using.  They came yesterday so I unpacked them this morning and got all but two sets in the dishwasher.  The other two sets I will wash by hand for use this evening for our dinner.  I also need to grate a pound of cheese and make more sausage muffins for Pat's breakfast.  However, I needed to rest so am now in my office doing that as I write in the discussions.  If I am not too tired I will attend my noontime meeting and then stop at Costco for a few items on the way home.  That will be it for today.

Hal, sorry about the mix up in names between you and Don.  I am finding I often am thinking one name or word and speak or write something else.

Gloria, I did enjoy my visit with my friends on Friday but am beginning to think it is something we won't be doing much longer but will wait and see.  Seeing my step grandson really was a big surprise since it had been seven years.

Jenny, it seems like you just got home from Austin.  I am sure your willingness to doggie sit is appreciated.  That will be a nice vacation for your son and his wife.

June, I was just teasing you about the Easter eggs as knew you were just enjoying watching the little ones.

Sandy, there was a nice tribute to Arnold Palmer on Saturday as well as yesterday.  He certainly helped make the Master's the huge success it is today.

JaneS, other than having a concern for your moving the furniture by yourself I would be willing to bet they will be happy for you to put it where you want it after living with the other arrangement.

Joy, I am like you in being pretty sure that being in the water wind surfing would not be something I would care to do.  I was born and raised a long way from the oceans and lakes.  We did have a farm pond but I didn't get into it.  We did have a little creek through our farm and did on occasion wade in the stream but it was never high except during the rainy season.

deAngel, sitting on your porch and enjoying the nice day sounds like it would be fun.  Like you my mother would usually move things around during the spring and fall housecleaning, which was something she did every year.

Jenny, nice that Diane's family to host a special dinner for Diane and your father's birthday.

Gloria, nice to see you were able to enjoy time on the porch visiting other residents.  Laughing I find always raises my spirits.  We now have a couple of channel on our satellite that are showing the old programs.

YIPPEE,  finally some good news to share from Joe, about Our Joan.

Update on Mom (Joan Lavelle)

Mom has made really good slow progress in the two weeks since I last saw her.  After getting tremendous care in the ICU at Viera Hospital for ~3 weeks, she was transferred last week to Kindred Hospital Melbourne, which has great specialized respiratory "step down" expertise.

They have been slowly weaning her off the vent and it has been over 30 hours since she was last on it.  The key milestone will be at 72 hours.  At that point, they will remove the vent from her room.

When I arrived this morning she was eating "real food" for the first time and was in really great spirits.  She is now talking freely and is fully alert and aware.

Visitors/calls are welcome.  She is in room 236.

We expect that she will be at Kindred for a couple more weeks and then most likely a re-hab facility for some period of time. We hope to move her to Fairhope soon after that.

I will let her give future updates.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers! In this case they were heard and answered!
Joe

Good afternoon, on a very pleasant day Sun is shinning and no wind, quite warm'

I had to come in here after reading the wonderful news about Joan.  Our prays are being answered. We will still have to keep praying. thanks for posting Jenny.

My mother use to move the furniture, every 6 months, she said to save wear and tare on the carpet. Other wise the same traffic would wear a hole in it.  The curtains were also taken down and put on that ugly stretcher. I had to help with that, and my hands showed it. Spring and Fall cleaning were a big deal in those days. Windows had to be cleaned inside and out. Which I still did until a few years ago.
Also to save the carpet on some Friday nights when I had my friends in my mother would roll back the carpet, and we would dance and sing to her playing the piano or we played the Victrola  Mother then would make hot chocolate and cake. It did not take much to make us keds happy in those days.

Good Monday Morning my friends. My day started at 6a.m. with a thyroid pill, a B.P. check and pills to take after the wait with the thyroid pill. So, I did all my massage that is helping my blood flow to arms and legs and feet. Then my day continued with Readings from three more books and the Bible and a hymn, and now here I am.

Jenny, I thank you so much my dear  one for the daily check on news of our Bis. It means a lot to know you are helping us out in this way.Your roasted pork loin sounds sooo good. They have it here occasionally but it is not the same as I did it with garlic and caraway seed. They are very cautious with spices it seems, and now I couldn't have the seeds anyway, so I have learned to adjust. (almost). I'm hoping for my 93rd. in Nov. I could have been your mother, Jenny.

Amy, you have such lucky dogs. Your heart must be overflowing with goodness…you do so much for those you love…even the neighbors dogs.

Janie, maybe you could just open the door and bang a couple of pot lids together to scare away any skunks. That would save you a trip around the yard and a possible spraying. P. U. !!!!!!!!

Gloria, I am so glad you are enjoying nice weather now. I know you like being outside, and I know you like to visit with your neighbors,so hopefully the good weather stays with you all.

Hal, you do have a busy schedule today, and I pray you can get it all done with the least amount of pain. And I thank God for Steve !!You need a young man in your life. You are surrounded by females. I again have two fine sons, and so thankful for my two DILs.

Larry you had a busy Sunday morning for sure, and the lunch you picked up at Krogers sounds good. You can't miss with a subway..they have just about everything in them. The Easter eggs were plastic, filled with candies Larry. If they were hard boiled eggs I would have grabbed a couple. I never turn down a hard boiled egg.

Jenny….ALLELUIA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And thank you Joe !!!!  I am SO happy for this good news our BIs/Joan. She is talking and eating…..WONDERFUL !!! Thank you God !! Thank you Jenny, and Thank you God!!!!!!

Jenny, that is great news about Joan and I'm sorry she still has to be away for so long, but if that is what it takes to get back to where she was, we'll accept it.

Gloria d, you mentioned carpets and it reminded me of ours in the house where I grew up.  We had one bathroom and it was upstairs.  We kids played in the sandpile beside our house; no house was there for several years.  If anyone wanted to go to the bathroom, they would use ours and we had to go from the NW corner of the rug to the SE corner to get to the stairs.  When my folks turned the rug, the line from the front door was the same regardless of which way the rug was placed.

I replaced batteries in two clocks today and the bird clock is going to confuse the cat.  I could not get the bird call lined up with the correct bird, but that won't make a difference.  The chime clock is the one I listen to for time, not the birds.

We are enjoying another beautiful day.  I even opened my window last night.

Good "Noonday",

Hooray for the encouraging report on Joan!

I'm cooking again.  When I delivered the other food,  I brought home a chuck roast and 2 pounds of ground beef from son's freezer.

This afternoon, I'm going to do the roast and potatoes in the slow cooker;  will rub the roast with brown gravy mix, add some onion and use beef broth for the liquid.
Son/dil aren't fond of carrots so I'll make some scalloped corn.
Will deliver this tomorrow

For Thursday's delivery, I'll make the ground beef into old-fashioned meat loaf (a/k/a "nothing fancy added") and rice/meatballs browned and covered with cream of potato soup before baking.  "Go-withs" will be twice-baked potatoes for the meat loaf - and baked beans for the rice/meatballs.
These were two of my Mother's  "everything goes in the oven at the same time" meals.

I also plan to do some green beans/bacon/onion in the crock pot.

Son likes banana pudding, so that will be the dessert.  If I have time/energy, I'll try to bake some bar cookies.

I may not cook again until........who knows when?   ;D

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable and Merry Monday.

HOORAY!!! The news from Joanie is GOOD NEWS!  Whatever it takes bring her back to us, we'll wait for!  That was news worth reading!

We were told that if we had to use the bathroom wherever we were, we were to come home and use our own.  And I did a lot of running when I was little.  I didn't want to miss anything so I usually waited until the last minute.  Then I had to hurry back when I was finished so I could catch up with the Red Rover or Kick the Stick games.

I decided what to do with my day today.  I'm "putzing"!  That means that when I'm finished, I probably won't be able to see what I did but a lot of little stuff will have been accomplished.

You are truly an Angel for doing all that wondrous tasty cooking for your DIL and son.
It sounds SO tasty, I can almost smell it. God Bless you !

I am doing nothing today. It is a day off for sure. I plan to go down for lunch..I have a taste for and egg salad sandwich of which I will take half home for supper. Plus any extras that appeal to me..like soup and salad and dessert.

I'm picturing Bis eating real food and chewing and digesting and healing. YAY !!!!!!

Janie, we had outside privies when I was growing up, so it was easy to reach from where we played games. When I would roller skate from one end of town and back again I never needed to "go"...must have sweated it out.

Yippieeeeeee, nice to hear good news on Joan!!

We went to the Dr and he wanted to change some of hubby's meds....but....these are meds the  ones the cardiologist put him on and we won't do anything till talking with her. This Dr is only standing in till they can get a replacement for our own Dr.

Wood box is filled , won't be long till that is a job put away till fall.

Callie. your making me hungry with your cooking!!!

June, I love an egg salad sandwich with onions in it..

Mary Ann. my window has been open also....so nice to have the fresh air blow in.

Jenny, thank you so much.I think we are all on the edge of our seats waiting on news about Joan.

Jane, so far I have been lucky with no perfume puddycats entering our yard. Our one dog did get sprayed once .....that was nasty!!!

Better see what I can scare up for supper..

That was good news about Joanie.  I know she must be grinning and glowing.  Maybe she will get on the computer in a few days.

Well I got all my jobs finished today.  Got the car turned in to be repaired and got in to see my Oncologist on time and found him to be a really nice person.  East to talk to and interested in what I had to say.  He had some good news, in a way, he said he was 70 percent sure that it was cancer on my kidney, but, it was small and hadn't grown in the past year and he didn't think it was going to cause me any problems.  He also prescribed some meds for my "sleepless" night problem but ask what kind of glaucoma I had and if it was acute not to take the meds that they would do more harm than good.  So I called my eye doc's office and I don't have the acute but the other type which the meds want bother.  So I will pick the meds up tomorrow.  Of course he run a test and wants me to do another one which I have to schedule.

Everyone have a great evening.

Hal, that is good news, pray it stays small or better yet disappears altogether off and out of your body!!!

We just had a dandy T storm, one that put the put right from the floor to my lap!! She doesn't think much of the thunder boomers and we may get more tonight.

Love the smell of a Spring rain..

Good Evening Everyone...

Just checking in to say that I am happy to hear that Joan is improving and looking to get off that vent....

Also to hear that she may be moving to  Fairhope,  Alabama ...     Closer to her children.     I know that the thoughts of moving can be overwhelming,  but I bet that she will be up for that ....  and that they will find a way to move her with the least bit of stress...

I see that Fairhope is right on the coast of Mobile Bay...
Cool!!

Have a good evening Everyone,  and Joanie if you check
in,  HUGS to you.

Hal, I'm so happy you got some good news for a change, seems like you have had more doctoring than normal, and that can really be demoralizing. God is answering our prayers, for sure.

Amy I think you are wise in not changing any medications till you see your cardiologist. Drs. seem to throw medications around like popcorn, and this one is not familiar with husbands problems and personality like your other doctor is. I too Love the aroma of a Spring rain...we had them in Mn. and it was so bracing after a long cold winter.  We don't have those types of storms in So. Ca. We have rain, but it is either too much or too little.

We had rain this evening, then a storm and then a tornado warning.  Actually, the warning was south of us and has now moved east.  I heard there is a storm moving from the south, but whether or not it will get to our location, I don't know.  We live about two miles north of the city limits.  We've had temperatures in the 70s all afternoon which is unbelievable.

JUNE, that was a good suggestion to clang pot lids to chase away the skunks but unfortunately, I can't do that for two reasons.  #1 my pot lids are all tempered glass and they wouldn't make much noise except for the glass shattering...and #2 if they did make a lot of noise, my (very close) neighbors would probably get up a petition to make me move because I woke them up.  Oh yes, and if I should happen to scare the skunk, he just might spray and nobody would like that.   :D ;D :2funny:

Good morning everyone..

Apparently the second storm came around last night, I was all set to tell you that all we got was rain but hubby just asked me if I heard the 3 booms of thunder. Slept right through I did!!

Need to pick up a script for hubby this morning and then I think some cleaning of the pantry will be done and take stock of what all is in there.

I like the fact that Joe said Joan is making progress...even if it is slow, it is still progress..

Better shake a leg here and get moving..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi everyone on a bright and sunny day.  It looks like we will get up to about 82 today.  Not feeling very peppy today and guess I just got overtired yesterday.  It doesn't take much anymore to do that to me.  I did not get to Costco yesterday and Pat plans to go with me this morning. However, I have decided I just don't feel up to going this morning and maybe we can do it later this afternoon. This afternoon after 3 pm I will drive down to Walmart to pick up another online grocery order.  I sure love this method of buying groceries.  I will take the rest of the day quietly.

Jenny, that is certainly an encouraging update on Joan.  I am really glad to see that her family plans on getting her over to where they live when she is able to stand the trip.

Good Day All,  The sun is shining on the ravine and I am wondering if the rabbit family living under our concrete slab next to the house is out and about.  They sure must feel safe from the coyotes who live in the ravine and make their noise whenever sirens sound.

Quilting is tonight and I need to stay home instead - then, another meeting on Tues and one on Wed - thinking of dropping something because no one comes to cook and clean here.  We adjusted to the higher altitude well this year and we had been away since last October.  Now, both of us have allergies because of the low snowfall - very dry.

the automatic set on both the coffee pot and the thermostat didn't work this morning.

Good news is that we are invited to daughter's home for weekend - sad news is that so many people are moving here, it takes much longer with awful distracted drivers so it isn't fun to drive around here anymore.

CALLIE  if someone brought me me like you are making I just might add a few of the pounds I lost.

HAL  good news. We want no more of our family fighting with that horrible cancer.

AMY  I feel so bad for the dogs and some cats, too, that are so frightened by thunder and loud fireworks.

Have to go get ready for my ride to be here.

Can't say good morning, anymore.  It is now after noon.

Pretty sunny day here in Central Maryland today, with the temperature going up to the low 80's.   Hopefully, I will get to sit out a little while later .

Yes, it certainly was nice to hear some good and encouraging news about Joan.  I hope she will continue to improve and hopefully, get back here soon.

Larry, I am still waiting for our Walmart to start their on-line shopping.  They had told me a while back, that it would be soon, but nothing, so far.  I am really anxious as it is getting harder and harder for me to get to the grocery store.  My son or DIL doesn't mind taking me, but Walmart is just so much walking.  I have been just going to our regular local grocery store, and just getting things that I forget to put on my list when my DIL or son goes for me.  I really need some little Easter things and a few other general things.

Gloria, good luck with your dental appointment today.  That is something that I keep putting off.  Just the fact that I have to depend on someone taking me is the main problem.  I am sure if I get desperate, I will have to find a way.  I have to go on a Saturday when my son or DIL is off, and then I hate to take the time when they need their Sat. to get their own chores done.

I need to get some lunch and then get myself pulled together to go down and get my mail and sit outside for a while. I had a message that I had a package delivered today, so need to get that.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Joy

Mary Ann, reading your posts about the bad storms in your area, made me think of how the seasons of the year bring a difference in weather conditions. Spring seems to be the season of tornadoes and  other severe wind conditions, summer is for fire hazards, and winter of course is snow and sleet. I don't know what to label Fall.

Janie, I guess you will just have to endanger You to shoo away any smelly creature lurking in your garden. I had one 12 inch glass skillet lid and was that thing ever heavy. Most of my cookware was Lo-heat Stainless steel..not the copper bottoms. We bought it when Susie was a baby for about $100.00 and I was still using it till I moved here to Rowntree gardens. My cookware now is a small toaster oven and the microwave. I miss a skillet, but at the same time I no longer want to cook.

Amy, I really should check out my pantry too. I have been here over a year now and have some canned goods and foodstuffs that I brought with me from my former abode. It is so easy for me to just close the door, and decide to worry about it later.

Janie dear heart. God is SO GOOD. And I am SO happy for you. "That which was lost, has been found. " Thanks be to God.

Lloyd, that's quite a jump…from 35 to 65 degrees. Out here we usually have a 20 degree change.

Sandy , you lucky girl to have this visit…enjoy every second of it.

Larry, it seems I am tired before I get out of bed in the morning. I start my day with leg, foot, and arm massage, and that does use up a lot of energy, but for me, it is really my age. Can't fool my body anymore, so I will just enjoy my day and do what I feel like doing.

Hal, we are having another day of sunshine, with a few high clouds..same as yesterday and the day before and the days to come. It is very pleasant. This is going to be a lazy day for me. I did take a walk around the gardens and checked out a couple more C.S. Lewis books from our library downstairs, now I can just laze around and eat when I'm hungry and nap if my eyes decide to close.I have many letters that need answering, so one of these days my conscience will really give me a shove and I will start answering. One a day should be possible, right ?

Good morning everyone, well got my teeth all nice and clean yesterday. Will be going back in a few weeks to get the remaining 4 bottom teeth out.  I knew they would have to go. Could not wear my partial anymore and could not bite into anything hard. Glad I have a good dentist.

AMY  you were busy yesterday morning baking. I missed out on both, nothing like homemade bread.

JOY  we broke a record yesterday by hitting 80° at the airport, in this area we hit 83°. I stayed outside for a couple of hours yesterday when I got home.  I have not been into a market in over a year. I have ordered online and from Schwans or my son always calls before he comes on the weekend to ask if I need anything and I can also send my CNA to the market. Nothing like going myself though. We have 1 car here in town that we call for a ride. I feel lucky when I get that, have to call way in advance because they are always booked. If I cannot get them we have Logistic Care that will pick up seniors to take to doctor visits. Last time I had to use them I waited over an hour for them to pick me up to get home. Now that my older son is retired I ask him at times but do not want him to get tired of me asking him.

JUNE  Fall is a time of either beauty or death depending on how you look at it. The beauty of the foliage and the cooler air and harvest time. Then is it the death of the summer flowers and the trees shedding their leaves. Days getting short and the nights long.

HAL  I hope you miss all the horrible storms. We have been fortunate for several years with no hurricanes getting to us here. There have been several that have hit the coast but not inland.

JANE  that Going in Style looks like it is a good one, good actors and I might see it on TV some day. Hope you enjoyed it.

SHIRLEY  glad you got to Mo. Did you get to see the Dogwoods in bloom?

LLOYD  I was asleep very early for me last night and am here before the rooster crows this morning.

HAL  is your SIL having that laser surgery that I have been seeing a lot about on TV lately? I have had some orthopedic back doctors want to operate on mine and others who told me I was too old. One told me I could end up in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. I wish the best for him, back pain is not fun.

An old geezer became very bored in retirement and decided to open a medical clinic.

He put a sign up outside that said: "Dr. Geezer's clinic. Get your treatment for $500, if not cured, get back $1,000."

Doctor "Young," who was positive that this old geezer didn't know beans about medicine, thought this would be a great opportunity to get $1,000. So he went to Dr. Geezer's clinic.

Dr. Young: "Dr. Geezer, I have lost all taste in my mouth. Can you please help me ??"

Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young's mouth."

Dr. Young: Aaagh !! -- "This is Gasoline!"

Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You've got your taste back. That will be $500.

Dr. Young gets annoyed and goes back after a couple of days figuring to recover his money.

Dr. Young: "I have lost my memory, I cannot remember anything."

Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in the patient's mouth."

Dr. Young: "Oh, no you don't, -- that is Gasoline!"

Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You've got your memory back . That will be $500."

Dr. Young (after having lost $1000) leaves angrily and comes back after several more days.

Dr. Young: "My eyesight has become weak --- I can hardly see anything!!!!"

Dr. Geezer: "Well, I don't have any medicine for that so,
" Here's your $1000 back." (giving him a $10 bill)

Dr. Young: "But this is only $10!"

Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You got your vision back! That will be $500."

Moral of story -- Just because you're "Young" doesn't mean that you can outsmart an "old Geezer"

Remember: Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to tick us off.

Wal-Mart announced that they will soon be offering customers a new discount item. Wal-Mart's own brand of wine.

The world's largest retail chain is teaming up with E&J Gallo Winery of California, to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $1-3 range.

Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Wal-Mart brand into their shopping carts, but "there is a market for cheap wine",said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing.

She said: "But the right name is important." Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Wal-Mart brand.

The top surveyed names in order of popularity are:

10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. World Championship Riesling
6. NASCARbernet
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar!
2. Grape Expectations

And the number 1 name for Wal-Mart Wine:
1. Nasti Spumante

The beauty of Wal-Mart wine is that it can be served with either white meat (Possum) or red meat (Squirrel).

Good morning everyone.
Listened to rain falling during the night but nothing now.Yesterday did not go as planned, I did get some baking done but my pantry was left untouched. The day was beautiful so I raked the front lawn of pine needles and cones. Then the back yard needed tending with the doggie land mines that were showing when the snow melted.

Have a busy day today, hubby needs to get blood work done and I need to deliver a quilt. Maybe after that the pantry may get done....no promises though.

Gloria, thank you for the chuckles, I am passing them on to others to have a giggle . Glad the dentist trip went well and don't envy your next one.

Jane, how was the movie?

Hal, enjoy the time with you daughter and her hubby. Hope all goes well with his operation.

Larry,I can certainly understand about not wanting to go shopping. There was a time I would jump at every chance but now I am quite content to stay home. (Unless it is a fabric sale)

Carol, hope you had a good time quilting with your friends.

Better get going or the day will be gone on me.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning Everyfriend on this rainy morning.  It started last night and I think must have stopped just before we got up this morning.  Everything is still wet.

For those of you who asked, the movie, GOING IN STYLE was great!  It starred Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin.  Ann-Margaret is still beautiful and Christopher Lloyd was still quirky.  When you get a chance, watch it!  It's another case of "don't mess with senior citizens".  You'll love it!

Have to go get some breakfast and feed the doggies.  I'm going to tackle one of the "odd jobs" that need doing.  I don't know how it's going to work out.  I have it on my "handyman" list but I don't think handy men exist any more.  This is one of my frustrations.  I sure miss my Daddy!  He was a handyman extradinaire!

Enjoy your day, my friends!

Hi everyone on this beautiful Spring Day.  It looks like it will be another very pleasant one.  Our family is going to have our traditional Easter Dinner late this afternoon as Scott has to work Sunday afternoon.  We bought the ham but Jennifer is preparing it.  Pat told me the different dishes we will be having but not whether we were making them or would depend on Scott and Jennifer to prepare them.  They are both good cooks and getting these big meals is almost beyond Pat now.  Pat is getting showered before her breakfast this morning and hopes to have enough energy left to go to her gifts group this morning.  I hope she can go as it is good for her to be with the ladies and she always enjoys the group.

Yesterday, for the first time in almost a year she decided she was going to drive and she took herself to our local Walmart to pick up a prescription and get a few other things.  She said she got along well and her back cooperated as long as she kept moving.  Yesterday was truly a lost day for me as after I finished posting in the discussions I went back to bed for the rest of the morning, got up and ate a quick lunch, and then laid back down for a couple of hours more.  I was just too tired yesterday to try to get to Costco as we had planned.  I seem to be getting to a point where all I want to do is lay down and rest.  I certainly don't feel depressed just weary after I do just a few things.

Carol, I sure wish you would do something for yourself and find someone to do your house cleaning.  We have found it more than worth the cost over these last several years.  Glad you have adjusted back to the altitude. Too bad so many people have moved to Denver that it is destroying the enjoyment of living there.  The same thing has happened to the county where we moved from.  Apparently in the two years we have been away from that county the traffic has significantly worsened as they keep building more large shopping areas and restaurants along the already busy roads.

Gloria, glad your dental appointment went well yesterday.  I love seeing the company come and I also love seeing them leave.  I am willing to bet your son won't tire of helping you get where you need to be.  He can't help you if you don't let him know of your needs.  That was a wise old "geezer".  :)  Someone was very cleaver with your wine names.

Joy, I am so thankful for the Walmart grocery online shopping.  I hope you get it soon in your area. Not only is it helpful for we older folks but also for young mothers.

June, not having a skillet or pans removes the temptation to do what you know you shouldn't be doing.  Like you I try to worry about it later.  :)  Some days I have to sit on the side of the bed when I get up in the morning before I find the energy to clean up and get dressed for the day.

Hal, that was good news on the cancer front.  I hope you were able to miss any bad storms yesterday.  Hope the surgery went well for your SIL.

JaneS, I have seen the advertisements for that and see you found it enjoyable.  However, I will wait until it is available on Netflix or Amazon Video to watch it.

Shirley, I wonder why you were tired?  Good grief that would make a young person tired.  I hope your trip to Missouri went well and your RV didn't give you any new problems.

Amy, I like your term of the doggie land mines.  The pantry will still be there when you find the time.  I see you have your shopping priorities in order with fabric sales at the top.

Good Morning Everyone!

Woke up to a cloudy morning but only a 20 percent chance of showers this afternoon.
I got less than an inch of rain here at my house, but no bad weather at all, just some boomers.

Well my kids were up and gone by 4:30 this morning and he went in for his operation at around 8 AM and he is now in recovery.  Daughter said everything went good, so I assume they "think" they fixed the problem.  I certainly hope so.

Gloria, transportation can certainly be a problem, I don't have anything like you and others who don't have a car but I know when I have to get SIL to drive me somewhere I have to check with him before making or accepting an appointment if he has to take me to be sure he is free to go.  Most times he is and when he takes me and it is near a meal time I always buy him a meal.  I enjoy the visit with him as well as the meal and he seems to enjoy it to.

Not too much on tap here today.  Just waiting for my daughter and hubby to return from the hospital, they will stay here today and tonight and go back home tomorrow or that was the plan.  I'm sure SIL will not be up to running a race when he gets home and just want to lay down and rest, he didn't get much sleep last night, nor did I seems.

Amy, do you ever really just kick back and do nothing?  Seems you always have an iron in the fire.

Janie, sounds like it was a fun movie.  Don't you sometimes wish life was like some movies.......I know I do.  But what the heck, life is life and will always be.

Larry, I know what you mean about getting your self in gear.  Sometimes it is afternoon before I get my motor to running and get my self to moving.  I told the doctor the other day if I was a car I would be in the junk yard.  He laughed and said well you still have a sharp mind (some would argue that point).

Lloyd you up?

Larry, my FIL, would say: "Glad to see you come, and glad to see you go"  We did understand, as we came once a year with two little ones and stayed about 10 days.

I am late coming in. My son Gary came early today before his Bible Class downstairs, and got me back onto my Bank statements on the computer..he is such a good guy !!!!!!  Then we went down for his teaching, which was exemplary. I could listen to him for hours. He did speak for an hour and I was entranced, as were others.

Tisie…you really earned that tired feeling. I wish you wouldn't push yourself so hard my dear friend.

Hal, I pray the surgery went well for your SIL and recovery will be quick and easy.

Gloria, you gave a beautiful and interesting description of Fall. Both beauty and death were perfect descriptions. Thank you dear. The Walmart wine descriptions are great..I am laughing my head off.

Larry, you are so correct about not having the pans to do what I should not be doing…before you get out of bed to start the day, do as I do…give yourself some massage. Lay on your back, raise your left arm, and with your right hand, rub the left arm for twenty times, from hand to shoulder. then do the right arm…I follow through the same procedure with my legs as I have blockage in the arteries. You would be surprised how much more alive you will feel about the actual getting up.

Hal is this the SIL that is like a true son to you? I pray the surgery was a complete success. He deserves the best. Try the massage I suggested to Larry above. You will be surprised at how it bring the body alive after some deep massage.

Gloria de…where I live now, overnight company would have to bring a sleeping bag and share my floor space which is not large. I used to have company that would stay close to a month…but they were adults, and we had plenty of space them. My husbands sister…from winter Chicago weather to warm So. Ca….the love it.

No pantry cleaned today either. I did manage to deliver the quilt though and pick up a few groceries then head home. Hubby is not feeling the best these past two days. Tomorrow I am heading to the vet...again...still don't like the look of the incision so off we go .On the bright side daughter in loves quilt is done and I can drop off the money for it on my way to the vet, just means I have to leave here around 7 am..
I did get some sewing done today...machine runs quiet so I didn't disturb hubby.

Lloyd, oh my what a pickle you are in.......just make sure everything you used to wash with, goes in the laundry and not have Nancy use it..Hope the meds work fast for you..

Have a great evening everyone...

Tonight was a good night at WM.  I saw and had time for a short chat with three friends and 3 former WM associates that I haven't seen in a while.

Now I'm going to go lie on an Epsom salt soaked towel and a heating pad (Dr. Shirley's prescription).  I have a very large stitch in my back that needs some attention.  I hope it works this time like it did the last time.

Amy, don't worry about the pantry.  Some time there will be a day with nothing to do and I don't think you can stand that kind of day.  That's the day to do the pantry.

Tomorrow, the doggies go to the groomer at 10 and then I coming home and trying a new twist on a dessert for Easter.  Then in the afternoon, I have an appt with my eye dr. to try to work something out that will let me continue to use the eye drope she prescribed for my glaucoma.  They aren't getting as many samples from the manufacturer and won't be able to supply me much longer.  They are VERY expensive.

Now I'm going out and sit on the sofa and turn on the TV.  I'll probably watch through my eyelids.  That's almost as restful as sleeping.

Good Night All..

I had a long two hour nap again today, and woke up tired. Have taken a long walk in the fresh air, and still very tired. So, I am going to just stay home and relax and do nothing but read. I plan on doing nothing tomorrow till 1:30 when our choir will sing at the club house, and again Friday at 2:00 pm. Nothing on Saturday...wheeeeee.

Amy, I am so very sorry about your poor doggy and also your hubby feeling bad. You have your hands and your heart full of cares. May God be with you.

Janie, I'm glad you had a pleasant time at work, and I'm praying the epsom salt treatment does the good trick on your back. I hope you will have luck with the eye drop treatment Jane...it is essential.

Lloyd, I remember having pink eye as a child. It went through our grade school like a wild fire. I guess it is very contagious, so no smooching with your dear wife.

Good morning Everyfriend!  The doggies are breathing down my neck for their breakfast so this will be short.  I'll be off to drop them at the groomers this morning.

I guess I better see to their breakfast.  That heavy breathing is really annoying and I think they know how much it bothers me.  Make today a good one!

Hi everyone.  We are headed up to the low 80's this afternoon with a 20% chance of showers.  We had a delicious early Easter dinner last evening.  Our granddaughter fixed the ham and it was delicious.  Pat fixed our traditional green been casserole and the 5 cup salad and also a nice potato dish that was new to us but sure we will have again as Pat said it was easy to make.  Scott switched printers between the one in my office and the one Pat had been using but that I couldn't get to print after clearing a paper jam and replacing an ink cartridge.  As soon as he brought it into my office it stated working.  Pat's upstairs printer in her sewing room says it has a paper jam but both he and I tried to find it without success.  He took that printer home with him to see if he can find it.

We plan a fairly light day today.  I am going to pick up my friend and go to coffee, will return him home and then make the decision whether to go back to the Wisdom class or not.  I have spent a good part of the last two days just laying down and resting.  We are planning on going out to eat this evening for our main meal as Pat said she just plans on taking it easy today as she had a full day yesterday and needs a day to recover.

Hal, sure hope your SIL will not be in a lot of pain from his surgery.  That probably won't be a very comfortable ride home for him today.  As long as we have our minds we have a lot for which to be very grateful.

deAngel, we used to go visit my folks for at least a week at a time as we could only get their about once a year.  A couple of times we stayed longer and I now realize what a strain it put on my folks.  In their later years we tried to be sure our visits were no more than three days.

June, it sounds like you son is a wonderful teacher of the Bible.  You are fortunate to be able to participate in his classes and then have some private time with him.  Fortunately I still have good circulation in my feet and legs although my feet always seem to be cold.  I did try the arm exercises for the arms this morning.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Lloyd, sorry about the red eye and eye infection.  Your elder years have not been very kind to you.  I think I will be more careful about wiping off the grocery cart handles in the future.

Amy, sure hope today finds your husband feeling better.

JaneS, hope the Epsom salts helped your back yesterday.  Nice that you could have some short chats with friends and past co-workers.  I guess the world sort of flows in front of you in your checkout stand.

Good morning everyone, a sunny one but cooler than the last couple of days.

AMY  the next dentist appointment I will not mind, getting the teeth thqat have started bothering me out will be a relief.

JANE  I would love to see that movie but will have to wait till I can see it on my TV. I would never be able to sit through a movie in a theater again.

LARRY  I will be going to my son's for Easter,  that DIL is a good cook and I will get to see my great grandson, too. That I will enjoy. One thing about going there for Easter when I ask my son to take me home he knows I am worn out and need to get home and just lay down. He is only 3 miles from me so it only takes a few minutes. That wine list had me laughing and had to share it.

HAL  we had rain in the forecast for late yesterday afternoon. Weather guessers were right, got enough to just wet the pavement and it was over with. I could ask my son more to take me to appointments but his father kept doing that to him, even calling in the middle of the night to pick him up in the emergency room. My son got up at 4:30 AM to get to work and he got mighty tired of it. I do not want him to get tired of me asking him. My son will not even allow me to buy him a cup of coffee. Hope your SIL does great after the surgery.

JUNE  that WalMart wine list would make most chuckle I think.

LLOYD  hope you now have the meds for your eyes.

AMY  sorry your hubby has not been feeling good the last few days. Pray he feels better today.

Good Morning Everyone....

It is going to be a beautiful sunny day today,  in the 50's (sweater weather),  here on the rocky coast of Maine.
My favorite kind of weather,   when I can open my windows and breath in that cool fresh air.

All is well here.    I am getting back to reorganizing
my shelves....   an endless task,  to say the least!

Have a good day,  everyone.

Good Morning all, Had a great nights sleep and a beautiful day weather wise is on the way.

Just placed a quick order with Amazon..two day delivery. I love it.

Larry, Yes, I am very Blessed to have a son like Gary. He was a real gift, as all three of my children were, but Gary seems to be the closest in body and spirit. He fixed my computer so I can read my bank statements on line again, looked through some paper work I had saved for him, then we went down for the program.

Sandy, I'm happy you are have a day that you can enjoy weather wise…should be a lot of those coming now that Spring has sprung.

Gloria, I too have always tried not to ask my boys for something to do for me. Now at this point in my life, I am living where everything is provided..almost. Just dentistry and eyes need outside care.

Hal, hope your Bible study was as interesting as ours. We are just finishing the book of Daniel, and I am amazed at how history does repeat itself in our day and age.

Lloyd, thanks for the reminder of wet wipes…I must order some too..should have done it before now, as we do touch so many things that can be germ laden.

Time to get off my duff and go for a walk. Our Choir is singing today at 2 p.m. at the club house, and again tomorrow. Then we are through till Christmas, unless I drop out before then. see you all later……….

I must admit ,it is a lovely day for a drive. We are back to the honey,Epsom salts and t shirts again.....then back to the vet on next Thur. I bought solid honey, which may stick better than the liquid honey. While out I stopped and bought butter that was on sale for 2.99 a lb....sure beats 4.97 a lb!!!
This will be day 3 that hubby isn't up to snuff..but at least he is resting and not resisting !!

June, I also need to get wet wipes as I like them in the vehicle to use when needed.

Gloria, as a child I had a bad experience in the dentist chair and now if any work filling, extraction  needs to be done he puts me in la la land...and I am soooooo happy too :)))

Sandy, I struck out with a vest on over my fleece sweater and all too soon it came off.It is 52 ° F at the moment.

Larry, I was just talking with my son and he is headed to SC....forgot to ask which part but will try and remember next time.

Jane, yes they do know...as these two know the minute I sit they want out!! Not that we mind one bit...

Enjoy your day everyone..

Amy, is Honey a healing balm ? I never heard of it being used topically before. And what does the Tshirt  do ? Seems to me your Vet should not be charging you for these visits, since it was a missed stitch that caused the delay in healing. Only fair in my opinion. I am happy for you that your beloved is being a quiet and good patient. Most men are to Impatient and get crabby.

I am going to enquire, next time I HAVE to go to the dentist, if she gives lala pills or shots. At 92, even the ride to the dentist is tiring for me, then there are about six outside steps to get into the place, and I sat in the chair for two long getting a root canal, and came home feeling half dead for several days. I had a dentist that gave the injection years ago...I don't know why more dentists to use them ?

June, honey draws the infection out, the t shirt keeps her from licking the incision and the honey which she loves. I can truly say she is  a sweet. My vet does not charge me, in fact she wasn't going to charge for the ointment but I told her no, she had to pay for it so I would also..

My dentist give me gas that makes me relax..he just puts a mask over my nose and in a few minutes I am fine.in la la  land :)

Amy and June, I am scheduled for a crown on one of my teeth in June.  At my age, I question the need for a crown, but I'll let him put one on this time.  And tell him "no more".  I don't have any aches or pains from my teeth now and that doesn't mean I won't have any trouble before I leave this world.  If something should become abscessed, I would let him take care of the tooth, otherwise, forget it.  I have to walk up 10-12 steps to their office.  My original dentist, now deceased, bought and owned the building.  In fact, the first time I went there, he was out sweeping snow off the walk and I thought he was the custodian of the building.  Imagine my surprise when he walked into the room where I was waiting.  As owner, I guess he was the custodian.  In later years, after he had heart problems, he regretted having the building built as a bi-level and I regret it myself now.  Tom usually helps me up the steps and I can manage going down.  The women in the office would be glad to help me if I asked them.  They're a block up the street from where I live.

As a young person I did not take care of my teeth, regretfully, so over time I have had lots of dental work.  Over the years I have had some good dentist and bad ones, rough and uncaring.  My present dentist is gentle as can be but she doesn't pull teeth so she always refers to other dentist.

June, we are studying the book of Daniel.  We are studying chapter 8, the four beast, right now.  Like you I see many parallels from those days to our present days.  I often try to picture what it must have been like living in those days.

Just got a call and I can pick my car up tonight.  They will have it ready between 4-6 PM, but I may just wait until in the morning.

My kids have left on their way back home, Del Rio, my SIL was feeling pretty good not too much discomfort.  The incision on his back is only about one inch.  He cant lift anything the weighs more than a gallon of milk, no twisting.  Light duty for the next two weeks.

Got to make some phone calls

Hal, while I like to think I took care of my teeth when young, my teeth were soft and I had a lot of fillings.  In 1983 I broke my leg and my doctor suggested I take calcium and I think it hardened my teeth.  I went four years in the '70s when my dentist retired and I did not go to any dentist until I had an abscessed tooth and went to a dentist near work.  He wanted to replace every filling in my mouth but I resisted.  I did not like that dentist and it seemed I was a cash register to him.  He'd tell me how much each operation cost.  One time he deadened the inside corner of my mouth (jaw) and by evening I could not open my mouth, even to eat.  I went back to him and he did something to fix it.  When I left the office there was no one at the desk and I just walked out without another appointment.  I mentioned this to Norm and he said he had just sold a car to a dentist who went to the same high school we did and he had our dad for a teacher.  he took me as a new patient and I have been with his office ever since, well over 30 years.  The owner of the practice is the dentist who had a heart condition and eventually died, but I am with the same office and I like my present dentist.  I do take good care of my teeth now and have all of my own roots even though I have several crowns.

More than you wanted to know.

I have not been posting, even thought I do read your posts EVERYDAY.  Shame on me.  I have enjoyed the extra goodies that have been shared as well....and I thank you all for what you share.

We are all packed up again and will be flying off to Austin again tomorrow.  Another doggie sitting time  for our special doodle as his parents head off for another quick vacation.  We are excited to go, even though we just got home not too long ago.

AMY, on of our grocery ads  this week has Land o Lakes Butter for $1.49 a pound if you bought 6 participating items.  If we were not leaving I would stock up for sure!

JUNE, always love to hear that your Gary has been there.

GLORIA, happy you will go to son's for Easter and see that baby.

HAL, I sure hope they did a good job on the car repair.  Glad SIL is doing well and able to go home.

MARY ANN, Your dentist info was not too much info....glad you are happy with your present dentist.  We are looking for a new one as soon as we return

LARRY, dinner sounded yummy last night and always happy when it included Scott and Jennifer.

JANE, hope your back is better today....

I best run.....hubby is ready.

Have a great evening, EVERYFRIEND,

Jenny

Amy:  Oh, I just figured out the honey treatment was for your dog.  Nice!  So sorry your hubby is feeling poorly.

I didn't get to the quilt group or the other needlework one that is day time either.  Just snoozing away my afternoon lately with pollen sky high - very dry conditions.

We will have Easter at daughter's home with 3 college kids coming - one is unable to be with us now.

A friend in Arizona mailed a picture of a 4 foot Diamond Back rattle snake - she is about 3 blocks from our house.  Yikes, I will have nightmares.  We can call emergency there and they will relocate them.  Here, we can have snakes but I haven't seen a rattler yet.

Don just received an email from a cousin and wife - they are heading to Minnesota and want to stop and visit next week.  This will work out - I have cleaned everything for the guest area - Larry:  I know you want me to get help but I can't figure out how to stop and tell anyone what to do - they will think I am nuts!  How can I ever take a nap if someone is in the house?  It is just too hard to contemplate anymore  :D :D :D :D

Jenny:  You just came home and now you are going again.  That is a pampered pooch.  Is the dog feeling alright?  I know - our children like to have us dog-sit or chicken and duck sit in one case.  Somehow, it isn't the same loving feeling towards the chickens and ducks  :)  Enjoy your Easter away.

CAROL, the dog is doing great!  Son and dil just are not ready to let anyone else be in charge of him, other than us.  They feel it is worth the cost of our airfare to have us there.  They take great care of us when we are there too...  it is a win win for us, plus we get in a nice visit with them when they return.  Sadly we will be alone for Easter and will certainly miss being with the grands.  Always join in egg coloring, hiding eggs, brunch, etc.  it will be fine, but we will miss the traditions.

Night, night!

Mary Ann, I had my last crown last year and it took so long..it really wore me out.

Hal, my teeth are in poor condition too. I don't remember even owning a toothbrush when I was young. I still have enough teeth to manage food well, but there are, I think, four crowns. We are just starting the 9th chapter of Daniel. Gary felt Daniel was the most important book of the Bible. There is so much there that can be related to todays problems. Gary pointed out that there were 490 years before the return of Jesus. 438 of those years have passed. That would leave 7 years to Armageddon. I wish we could be here to see it occur.

Mary Ann…that dentist that wanted to redo all your fillings..he was greedy. I would have done as you…dropped him like a hot potato.

Jenny, I know how you and your husband both love that Texas dog. I would like to see him greet you on arrival this time. Joyful, Joyful !!!!!!!!!!

I didn't get my nap at all today and here I am, still not getting ready for bed yet. Maybe not napping in afternoon is a good thing. I'll see how I sleep tonight.

Medications will be coming soon, so I will bid you all a peaceful night and a joyful tomorrow. Hugs, Love and Prayers. June

Hi everyone.  We have another beautiful day and will get into the low to mid-80's this afternoon with no chance of rain.  I don't intend to go anywhere today.  Yesterday left me exhausted.  We did go and have Chinese last evening for dinner but doubt we go back to the restaurant.

I am going to beg off making any individual comments in this discussion today.  I am going to go and lay down and rest more this morning.

Good morning everyone, cool this morning but will warm to a nice warm day. The weather guessers are saying it will go up to 77° on Easter Sunday. It is 48 right now.

JUNE  I have never liked anyone to help me, not just my children. I know if I was near my daughter I would not have to ask because she would be there for me.

AMY  been a long time since I have seen butter at that price. When I see that I will get a few pounds and double wrap it in freezer bags and keep it in the freezer. I finally talked my daughter into using butter instead of margarine. I have never been put in lala land at the dentist but the one is have now is the best one I ever had.

HAL  all the years I was married the only time I saw a dentist was to extract the wisdom teeth. My ex did not think I needed more. Like you the dentist I have now is a woman but she no longer pulls teeth but her associate does and he is pretty good, too. Looks like your SIL had the back surgery I see so much about on TV.  A 1 inch incision and walking out a few hours later. Now that kind I might not mind on my back but the $$ would be more than I could pay.

JENNY  the highlight of Easter will be seeing that little sweety. Of course I will  enjoy the rest of the family and the good food. Enjoy your trip back to Texas.

CAROL  that picture you got from a friend is Az. Is what worries me about  where my daughter is now living.  I am so scared of any of those things I cannot even spell the word. My CNA/helper is here in the mornings and I tell her what needs doing. That works for me, my afternoons are mine.

JANE  I hope you have only happy people in your line today.

LLOYD  have a good day.

JEANNE LEE  that graphic is perfect for today.

LARRY  you resting is more important that responding.

Good Morning Everyone!

MaryAnn, your post wasn't too long or to much information.  Always interesting what you and others have to say.

Larry, sorry to hear you are have a bad day.  Hopefully you will perk up later on.  Evidently you had a bad experience at the Chinese restaurant.

Well, I just got back from picking up my car from the body shop.  They did a good job it appears, it was all shiny and clean.

Our weather here is kinda murky, warm, but looks like it wants to rain, lots of dark clouds roaming around, but here that doesn't prove anything.

June, our study group leader also points out the time line and what is to occur, he also thinks end times are close, but only God knows.  I remember from our study of Revelations that  that was where Cecil B. Demile (sp) got his ideas for movies.  And before studying Revelations I didn't realize how busy we were going to be after we leave this world.  But just think, no more aches, pains or problems or worries.

Janie, hope you got all smiles today and maybe some laughter too.

Gloria, my SIL is feeling the effects of his operation and travel home this morning.  Said he was hurting some and needed a pain pill.  If you wanted one of those "keyhole" or "bandaid" operations I am quite sure Medicare and your supplement would cover it.  But I am not sure many doctors want to mess with us old folks unless they just have to.

Well folks hope you have agreat day......OH, Lloyd hope you are feeling better and not spreading your Pink eye.

Good Morning all. Sounds like you are all hale and hearty, with the exception of our friend Larry.

Larry, I am praying you will have a very relaxing and healing day at home. You are wise to know when you must take a day off, and are following through with it. May tomorrow find you much improved.

Hal, I read Revelations years ago and didn't like it. I will have to try it again in my elder years and perhaps my understanding has improved.

We will be singing again this afternoon and my Gary and Dori will be in attendance. They are coming early to have lunch with me and that will give us plenty of visiting before the two o'clock performance.

Jeanne Lee, the Good Friday picture says so much ! The colors, the rough cross, all of it. Very expressive.Thank you.

Hal, it's hard to shut me up when there is no human around to stop me.  I have this compulsion to explain the background of things.  I used to drive Norm crazy.  He'd always ask "what's your point?"  Of course, he might have "been there, done that" so knew all about it, even if others did not.  Even though I tell myself to slow down, I know I won't.  So I'll be long-winded again, just not now!

I, too, enjoy reading others posts, long or not.

June, they would do - and have done - the same for me.  I am doubly blessed that both sons married into loving caring extended families.  We certainly aren't in each other's pockets (so to speak) and often say, "sorry - can't this time", but any and/or all will be there when needed.

Mary Ann, I enjoy conversational posts.    Actually, I enjoy conversations of any kind!   I know the theory is to "get the other person to talk about his/herself" - but, IMO, that only works if it goes both ways.
One of my friends has said I'd make a good prosecuting attorney because I rarely ask questions that can just be answered "yes" or "no" - or give hints as to what the other person should say.
Obviously,  I am not the "go along to get along" sort.   ;)

Callie, in a way, I'm the opposite - if I'm in a big group, more than six, I listen and I find out more things that way.  Or in S&F, I'll read.  It amazes me the number of times one of our members has stated something - maybe only the state where he/she lives.  Often, a couple posts later, someone will ask that person what state they live in.  Or similar questions.

I have an odd memory, anyway.  If it's important, I might not remember something, but if it is unimportant, I may remember it.  Norm and I had different memories of the same situation - and we both swore that we were right.

Callie, me too. My son's chose the perfect girls for them, and for me too. I love my DIL's completely. The two girls are completely different personalities, but so are the two sons.

I am back from our program of singing. We had a huge crowd..lots of relatives of residents. My Gary and Dori were there, taking pictures, and they brought people from their Church, that I enjoyed meeting. I feel we did well today in our singing..that is a rewarding feeling. Gary and Dori came to have lunch with me, and brought me the most beautiful Easter Lilly. It is a hybrid, with pink flowers, two huge blooms and four more to open as they will.

I am going down for an early supper, only because they are having salmon and I love fish and it is Good Friday, then home to put on my p.j.'s and just fall apart. Tomorrow is a day can stay at home. YAY !!!!

Good Afternoon Everyone...

It is a beautiful Saturday here on the sunny and warmer,  rocky coast of Maine.

QuoteJune, our study group leader also points out the time line and what is to occur, he also thinks end times are close, but only God knows.  I remember from our study of Revelations that  that was where Cecil B. Demile (sp) got his ideas for movies.

Gosh Hal...  I am going to have to take a look at those
Revelations,  (I guess) .......    It seems to me that the older we get the closer the "End Times" naturally occur...
But of course,  not having studied Revelations,  I would
only be speculating.

I just love it when the sun starts shinning in my living area...  Makes me almost want to go out and take a nice walk around town,  to celebrate.

Have  a good day,  Everyone !
Sandy

Hi everyone.  Today starts with another bright and sunny morning.  However, the forecast is for cloudy this afternoon but getting up to around 84 degrees.  Later this morning I plan on going to the Masonic Lodge as this is their annual BBQ Dinner to raise money for their charity work.  My friend who told me about the event said one dinner should be enough for Pat and I to share.  So I will get one meal and we will have it for our evening meal. Nothing else on my schedule for today.

Yesterday was basically another lost day as I spent most of it just laying down resting and listening to music.  I took a diuretic pill this morning as my exhaustion could relate to the Congestive Heart Failure and fluid may be accumulating around my heart.  I hope this helps as want to feel up to attending Church tomorrow.   Our choir did their Easter music last evening as a part of the Good Friday service but I just wasn't up to attending.

Gloria, it has been years since we have had an margarine in our home as Pat once put some in a skillet and it turned into what looked like a sheet of plastic and that was it.  I think we pay around $2.49 a pound for it now.

Hal, I didn't have a bad experience but just felt the food was so-so and for the price would rather eat at Ruby Tuesdays or Texas Roadhouse or somewhere else.  Pat also commented about the food being too rich that she had eaten. Glad you got your car back.

June, I did a study course on Revelations years ago and also attended a series of Wednesday morning meetings with our Pastor as we studied Revelations.  It certainly isn't an easy book to understand with all the symbolism. Glad you are got some special time with Gary and Dori.

Mary Ann, like you I just don't seem to know how to be short in my writing.  I want to be understood and try not to make assumptions that others are going to know something when I can add a few words of explanation just in case.

Callie, good to know that you can say no without offending.  One thing I have learned in later life is that I can say no without the need for explanation or justification.

I was sure I posted yesterday but didn't see a purple one from me.... Never had a busier week in years & planned to ease through Easter going to church but skipping the family party.  Strange year, but guess I will show up after all so nobody gets feelings hurt or worries because I just wanted a day off.  At any rate, I'm cooking a ham today, going to dye a few eggs after I boil them, and try to find something to wear to church Easter morning that is not my usual slacks/jeans (not REAL dressy).  I going to rush home to bake a couple batches of cinnamon biscuits to take for the brunch.  The clan really does love them but they are such a mess to make.

Sprinkler guy came again yesterday about 3:30 pm.... discovered a bad (old) valve causing the problem.  Cost another arm & leg, and was told "this is an OLD system so......."  I ended up with over my 10,000 steps, 9 floors (the control panel is in the basement so I did the running)....

I managed to stop by church for a few private prayers on Good Friday.  I've always felt Good Friday the saddest day of the year, but as a parent it hit me yesterday when kneeling with only a few others around the church (I couldn't be there for the services), I was overwhelmed with what agony God must have felt knowing the pain his Son was going through... and he could have stopped it.  Can you imagine being in that situation of watching your child being tortured and not step in to protect....  for the benefit of the world you couldn't smash the people harming your baby?

Better get busy, got up a little before 4:00 am because Tiger was banging on the folding wood door I close so cats can't have the run of the house.  She doesn't think it means her.  I let her come in & we lay on the end of the bed that is most comfy to have TV on (it puts me back to sleep).  It was a little after 8:00 & I'm dressed, Tiger is still snoozing on the bed so I was anxious to say "Hello" to all of you before starting my jobs.

Can't believe this is still Easter Week.... I loaded the RV last Sunday after church (enough food & clothes for a week or more  ;)  ), drove to central MO on Monday, put flowers on my parents grave & went on down to the Lake of the Ozarks.  Came on back to Wichita the next morning, the wild dogwood wasn't blooming but I did get the spring flowers on the graves & the RV didn't give me any trouble, mission accomplished.  Wednesday I thought I'd better try the sprinklers to make sure they worked... BAD NEWS.... my son came over to see what the problem was & discovered one pipe had been broken by a tree root.  Big job & was well after dark before he quit, convinced it was a "ground wire" keeping one zone on when it got tried to finish the rest of the rounds.  Thursday was lawn mowing crew but I put out signs they couldn't miss "Don't Mow!".... Had the back yard dug up & sprinkler man couldn't get back until Friday late.... but had a front yard soggy from another buried head along the driveway... anyway, more trouble & I think brown is pretty so don't plan to mess with sprinklers again.  I know I will, we put in a well, even put in a new pump last year because city water is so expensive to water lawns.  I'm thinking it might be cheaper than sprinkler systems now.

I did get some pretty photos of the dogwood tree planted by the entrance of the campground but found updates while I was gone messed up the old computer that has Paint Shop Pro on and won't let it open.  I've tried everything but will have to uninstall & re-install.  Several of the ladies helped me set up all those years ago and I don't have a clue how to make it work.  Joan was one, Gloria, Bubble and Bunnie.... I do have some old notes but will have to have more time to read & understand than I have this week.  I've enjoyed making cards for the holidays from my photos so am unhappy.... no time to think about it long, so....

Happy Easter to Every Friend and may God Bless.

Love you all.  Shirley

Good morning everyone, had another of those nights I could not get to sleep. Too many of them lately. Finally fell asleep around 4AM.
Another beautiful sunny day here with showers due late today.

HAL  only one of the back orthopedic doctors wanted to do surgery on my back and that was before he even saw an Xray. That was 6 years ago.

CALLIE  yesterday send my CNA to the market and then made the Jello salad for tomorrow.  It looks good enough to eat. I did keep a little out to try and we both thought it was very good. Thanks for sharing. I used cherry Jello.

MARY ANN  I have days where I will just listen/read and say nothing and others you cannot shut me up.

JUNE  glad you had Gary and Dori there for the singing yesterday.  Today I might just be lazy and do nothing at all.

LLOYD  it is 58° here now and up to the high 70's for Easter.

AMY  thank you so much. I got a box from my daughter yesterday, filled with homemade Ginger Snaps. She had told me a few days earlier that she was doing some baking for a change. First thing I did was pour a glass of milk and had a couple of the cookies with it, Oh so good.

SANDY  mornings like this I would love to get out for a nice long walk. Unfortunately The only place I can walk now is around the parking lot. I like the walking but the scenery leaves much to be desired. Still better than walking back and forth in the hallways and seeing closed doors, some have beautiful things hanging on their doors. One always gives me a chuckle, she has a wreath on the door and a sign that says “Beware guard cat on duty” She has a cat that will run and hide when someone goes into her apartment.

LARRY  I think at one time most of us used margarine because it was much cheaper than butter. I used it for some things but I still prefer real butter. I do the same as you at times. Too many words used to get what I am talking about out.

SHIRLEY  you not cooking for your family and staying home from a family gathering would not be you at all. They would worry about you and all show up at your house to check. When my sons married and moved out  they would stop by anytime and I would start something for a meal or snack for them.  If my daughter was closer it would have been the same with her. Now I just cannot do it. I have thought like you about God and the agony of Jesus on that horrible Friday. I often think the name Good Friday is wrong, what was good about that torture? I had to install my PSP several times on this PC. Now I have trouble getting the plugins installed.  I have not done much the last few months.

*Things I've Learned From My Children*
01.  A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq.  foot house 4 inches deep.

02.  If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

03.  A 3-year-olds voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

04.  If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound boy wearing Batman underwear and a superman cape.  It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20 by 20 foot room.

05.  You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on.  When using the ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit.  A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

06.  The glass in windows (even double pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

07.  When you hear the toilet flush and the words "Uh-oh," it's already too late.

08.  Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

09.  A six-year-old can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year-old man says they can only do it in the movies.

10.  Certain Legos will pass through the digestive tract of a four-year-old.

11.  Play Dough and Microwave should never be used in the same sentence.

12.  Super glue is forever.

13.  No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on
water.

14.  Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15.  VCR's do not eject PB&J sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

16.  Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17.  Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18.  You probably do not want to know what that odor is.

19.  Always look in the oven before you turn it on.  Plastic toys do not like ovens.

20.  The fire department in Austin, TX has a 5-minute response time.

21.  The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.

22.  It will however make cats dizzy.

23.  Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

24.  The mind of a six-year-old is wonderful.

Can't believe no one has posted in the past 4 hours.

Of course, if you've been as busy as I've been, you have a good excuse.

I've spent that time making a rum cake, a corn soufflé and a hash-brown potato casserole - plus  snapping almost 2 pounds of green beans,  frying bacon, chopping onions and putting all of those together in the crock pot.

Now I'm going to enjoy a Stouffer's Chicken Panini Sandwich, some fruit salad and my usual lunchtime Diet Coke.....and spend the rest of the afternoon, and probably the evening, being a Recliner Radish.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Is it your Birthday Gloria ??????? I didn't know that till just now. I hope it has been a wondrfully Happy Birthday for you.  I know the feeling of not being able to fall asleep at night.....miserable, for sure.

I am taking my 'day off' very seriously. I have changed into a long dress that is of a t-shirt quality..very comfortable...and I am not going down for a meal, or a meeting, or anything more than a disaster..God willing we have none of those. I am just laying around reading, dozing, a little t.v., and will have to eat soon..That means opening a big can of soup, heating it in a big bowl, and that will take care of two meals today..lunch and supper.Breakfast was coffee with a huge roll, filled with a lemon pudding type of thing.

My brain is in a very relaxed mode, so I have no special news of any kind. Time to eat some soup.....

CALLIE, I made "Helen's Green Stuff" only I left out the pineapple and the green jello and put in raspberry jello and fresh red raspberries.  Since Helen never made it any way but green, I'm calling this "The other Helen's Pink Stuff".  I'm the other "Helen".  It's my real first name in front of Jane.

Then I spent the afternoon driving about 40 miles out of my way to get to the Lycoming Mall which is about 18 miles away.  Of course, I didn't put any miles on my car and it's amazing that I didn't hit anything because my eyes were closed the whole time.  And a number of fireplace logs appeared in my living room!  I wonder what I should do with them?

Someone is picking me up at 6 to go to the Easter Great Vigil Service so I better start getting ready soon.  I need a shower and the dogs will want fed and some things have to be put away and....whatever!

Gloria, Happy Birthday and many more.

We've had a lovely day and my computer says it is 80 degrees now at 6:25.  Amazing.

Tom and I went to a nearby produce place that just reopened after having had a fire last fall.  The reopening was in the paper and I think much of the north end turned out to shop there.  We got some produce and I am sure we'll go back again.

Dot and I will go to church in the morning, then OTB.  In the afternoon, Tom and I will go to have Easter dinner with Annie and her boyfriend.  His business is open seven days a week so they will work tomorrow, probably not as late as usual.  Annie is learning to cook so our meal will be interesting.  We are furnishing a green bean casserole, so rolls and pies.  Annie is furnishing whatever else we have.
