Larry--Smart to use the cart when you have no energy.  That is sure nice when Scott fixes dinner  for you and Pat.  Glad you got a good report when you had your pacemaker/defibrillator checked.

Hello all, sorry I am late. Had several delays after nine beautiful hours of sleep. Gary came by with two cartons of Ensure that Dr. ordered, he got them at Cosco, 20 dollars a carton. I had my first bottle and it was tasty...quite sweet, but I enjoy sweets. Dr. didn't like that I dropped more pounds..down to 106...lowest my my whole adult life.

Now I am going downstairs for a special chinese dinner. I truly enjoy chinese food so I want to be sure I get a seat. Will be back later. June

Joan, my oxygen is from a large, noisy, electric concentrator.  I'm hooked, in the house, to that with a long tube - I say I have a 2 mile tail.  ;)  There are four back-up tanks that will run without electricity for at least 5 hours each, and can be re-filled if necessary.  I also have what is called a "gaseous portable" that is supposed to run 2 to 3 hours, depending I guess on my activity and need, and they are also re-fillable.  I have three of these - though as heavy as they are, how they can be called "portable" is beyond me.   :P  But at least it does give me a chance to get out of the house now and then - like to the grocery store or a doctor's appointment...   ::)

Good late afternoon, we have been having some beautiful weather, but that will change to morrow.  Again in the 90's

i am not writing much, because I am very tired, but a good tired.  We had our soth Annivercery luncheon, well attended (55) It was a lot of fun had a hat  and dress contest.  We were to come dressed as someone for Down Town Abby.

going to relax and watch some TV.  Not the news I said relax!

June--I order my Equate from Walmart.  It is identical to Ensure.  I only like the chocolate.  I order it by the case so shipping is free, and it costs less than Ensure.  Enjoy your Chinese meal.

Jeanne Lee--I don't have a concentrator.  I have a large tank of liquid oxygen that my tubing hooks to.   No electricity involved.  If I want to go out I am a small lightweight Helio take along that I fill from the big tank.  It lasts about 6 hours and is very light weight.

Linedancer--Your luncheon sounds like fun.  Now you can spend time relaxing.

Joan, I was expecting and hoping the portable unit would be much lighter weight and easy to carry.  Oh well, I have to take what is available in this area and covered by insurance.  I just have to be glad I have anything, and keep track of my time on the small units and make sure I get home before it runs out.   :)  I'm learning a whole new life style.   :D

Bis, I get 24 8 oz. bottles for twenty dollars. I don't know if we have a Walmart in Stanton or Fullerton, but Gary has a membership at Costco, and he said they are just down the street from our apartments. I will give him the info you gave me, and let him do as he likes. Thank you for the info. It may be my imagination, or it may be the wonderful sleep I had last night, but that one bottle of Ensure sure gave a day filled with energy. I got so many things done with less shortness of breath. I am SO content this evening.

Gloria de, It makes me feel so happy knowing you had such a fun day. Good going girl !!   :)

Our chinese dinner was just so=so but it was a fun group of ladies, and one gentleman. Our activity director was all dolled up in a chinese outfit, and I think she had as much fun as the rest of us. Afterwards I went to the balance and mobility class, then got some prescriptions renewed downstairs, so all in all it has been a great day for me.

Now the yawns are starting, so I think I will stir up some kind of light supper and just relax. I plan to be back to say the normal goodnights. June

Hello from another raining as usual Interior! Farrah is doing well, and I have read all the posts while installing my new Dell laptop. The only available monitors were too small and too expensive, so I went with a new laptop instead. I will order a monitor online from Amazon later. That is if Prime allows. If it is a company affiliated with Amazon, not allowing Prime, I will purchase locally.

Everyone have a good night and Jeanne, I am so glad that Joan is here and available to help you and also June with supplements. Thank you, Joan as well!

CHUCKLES

Large Truck

A large truck was tailing my son as he drove through town with a female classmate. The truck matched them turn for turn, down every street.

My son's concern grew to alarm when the menacing-looking driver pulled next to him at a light, leaned out his window, and glared into his car. After a long, hard stare, the man grinned and called to my son, "Sorry, kid, I thought that was my daughter."

Food For Thought

BRING YOUR UMBRELLA
(by Steve Goodier)

One summer, a drought threatened the crop in a small town. On a hot and dry Sunday, the village parson told his congregation, "There isn't anything that will save us except to pray for rain. Go home, pray, believe, and come back next Sunday ready to thank God for sending rain."

The people did as they were told and returned to church the following Sunday. But as soon as the parson saw them, he was furious.

"We can't worship today. You do not yet believe," he said.

"But," they protested, "we prayed, and we do believe."

"Believe?" he responded. "Then where are your umbrellas?"

The story applies to all of us. There are those people who leave their umbrellas at home. Throughout their lives, they are merely hoping their wishes and prayers will bear fruit, but they expect little.

Others expect their God-given dreams and desires to come to pass. It is as if they journey through life always prepared for something to happen.

Today, how will you approach that which you are yearning for? Will you expect answers to your prayers and work to bring about hoped-for results? Will you bring your umbrella?

Good morning everyone.

Seems my body didn't want anymore sleep and I have been up since 4..I can see a nap coming later today. Yesterday went well, hubby got in and out of his appointed time.....pays to go early sometimes .We were both glad to get home with our dogs. Dr phoned last evening and they now want a ultra sound  done, this is never ending it seems. I will phone the Dr at 9:30 to see what time /day they have set up.my luck it will be Mon when I am taking a friend to her cardio appointment. Cross that bridge when we get to it.

Taking the day as it comes here, nothing planned  other that waltz with the mop and some sewing.

Sure wish Gloria was back up and running...I believe they owe her a brand new computer this time!!

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I think if I were Gloria, I'd have someone take me there (preferably a policeman in uniform or a heavyweight boxer and I'd camp in the office of the company president until they gave me a new computer.  She certainly has suffered with that one!

I slept better last night than I have in a month!  I don't know what it was but I hope it sticks around a while!

It's already 73º here and it's going up into the high 80s today.  Our little band of nice weather seems to be over.  The only things on my agenda today are my 4 hours behind the counter at WM and shortening a pair of curtains.  I have to do the curtains by hand because my machine isn't working and I've returned my daughter's machine.  But they are all pinned ready to go.  The hard part will be threading needles!  But I did find my needle threader the other day!

Joanie, that quote by Clinton is similar to what my mother used to tell us.  I remember one particular incident when one of my friends had done something that hurt me and my mother said, "There will be people in your life who will hurt you and how you react to that will tell who and what YOU are.  You can try to hurt them back and lose a friend or you can let it pass and keep your friend!"  I never forgot that!  And I'm still friends with that person and until today, I never thought of the hurt.

Have a lovely day, Everyfriend.  Make it work for you!

Good Friday morning.....JOAN, AND EVERYFRINDS...

As usual, not much planned coming from my end.....

Well I took a fall an hour ago, around 10.45am...R out doing his shop, dogs ignored me, never even came to investigate, Oh alright then, I will make Benjis excuse as he is now rather hard of hearing....

I decided to shampoo my hair over the bath and not as I now do whilst in the shower, as I dont shower every day....Now I have fathomed out a " nerve " link that runs from my neck when I tilt my head, which is some strange way connected to my top of bad leg, I noticed this quite some time ago but only had it recently confirmed from an MS team leader over the phone a few months ago...That's another thing, she recommended I phone my GP and ask for a referral to go see a musculoskeletal therapist, I phoned that through to GP receptionist, never heard nothing back since anyway...this fall....i was using the showerhead and trying to keep my head as straight as I can, when all of a sudden my eyes closed as if I was passing out, and down I went, I was thinking as I was gong down, I am going to bang my head on something and knock myself out.....Thank heavens the bathroom door was wide open, which was right behind me, so basically my body fell through onto the hall carpet....I never hurt myself, just picked myself back up, then carefully carried on with my hair but...I am well aware that things could have been so different....I could see into the living room, Toby perched with his head onto the arm of the sofa just looking at me, cant imagine what was going through his mind....just that now I know he would be no good in an emergency...

Jeanne Lee

Oh, Jackie!  Thank goodness you didn't have any injuries from that fall. It could have been so serious!  The thought of falling. since I'm alone in the house. is the main reason I've invested in a life alert type system that includes fall detection.  I know it will work well - I've set it off by accident in the middle of the night...  three times!   ::)

Good morning, Amy.  It seems the tests are never ending for your husband.   I hope you can get  a nap later today.

Janie--Good morning.  If I were Gloria I would have done something drastic by now.  Glad you slept so well and hope everyone is smiling today at WM.  I like what your mother told you.

Good morning Vanilla-Jackie.  I am very glad you didn't get seriously hurt when you fell.

Jeanne Lee--Good morning.  Glad you got LifeLine (or similar).

Good Morning everyone. well we got another 1/2" of rain last night 2 1/2 night before. It is keeping the open ditch for our waterline too muddy for me. But I think I am going to put on my mud boots on and dive in and try to get it finished up today if the weather lets me. the sun peeked out for a short while and is now hiding its face. have a great day everyone.

Lloyd

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful clear morning and we are headed to 93 degrees this afternoon.  The only thing on the schedule today is to take Pat for a mammogram at the hospital this morning.  The hospital is now providing a free car parking service at the door of the hospital.  There is also no charge for parking.  The housekeeper will also be here this morning and the yard was taken care of yesterday.  So we will be in good shape.

Yesterday turned out to be an another exhausting day and by the time I finished shopping at Walmart, even riding the cart, I was done in.  Fortunately we had an easy supper with homemade chicken noodle soup from the meat and broth left over from  over from fixing the chicken in the crock pot a couple of days ago.

I did come back and read the messages last evening but was just too weary to try to post and someone had already comments on what I would have commented on.

June, my son is a good cook.  He has many capabilities and that is one of them.  His wife was so ill for so long and he did most of the cooking.

Mary Ann, while I like raisins I always prefer chocolate chips to them.  However, I won't refuse either type of cookie.  :)

JaneS, Hal and Jackie, I have Molly's email address and I just dropped her a short note inquiring about her health and to let her know she is being missed.

June, it is a part of my breakfast each day to drink a nutritional drink (I use the Equate Chocolate from Walmart) and I also have a nutritional bar that I buy at COSTCO.  I usually add some fruit to the breakfast and find it all very satiating.  Hope you enjoyed your Chinese dinner lat evening. The nutritional drinks surely can only benefit us.

Amy, it sounds like your husband's doctor is leaving no stone unturned in trying to provide good care for him.

Jackie, sorry about your fall but glad you didn't get hurt.  Could you have a grab bar installed where you could hold on to it when you wash your hair that way?  I am a firm believer in having them where we need them in the bathroom.

Jeanne, sure glad you have that life alert system that detect a fall.

Lloyd, hope you are able to finish with the water line.  Mud is something we just don't seem to have here as the ground is a mixture of sand and clay.  At least that is the way around my house.

deAngel, did a lot of the ladies come dressed as someone from Downton Abbey?

Joan, I see we agree on the Equate chocolate nutritional drink.  I tried the vanilla but didn't care for it.

JeanneP, I hadn't seen your posting about Molly's posting when I sent her the email.  At least she will know we are missing her as we do any of our folks who we see post almost daily here.

JoanFL

Good morning, Lloyd.  I wish you could send some of that rain our way.  It rained here this morning for 5 min.--not enough to even wet the pavement.

Larry--Good morning.  Great idea to use that broth to make another meal of chicken noodle soup.  It seems I've been buying that chocolate Equate for years.  Ray had to have it for several years before he passed away.

Good Morning, It appears I did not get back in last night…sounds like something I would do…forgetting seems to come easier all the time.

My regular housekeeper is not here today, so  I have a substitute..a nice girl, of course. They only hire nice people here. She has changed my bed linen, and will be back at 9 a.m. to do the rest of the the deep cleaning,so by then I will have eaten, dressed, and get out of her way. I take a book down to the common room on the third floor and get cozy and read.

So I had best get off the computer and eat some breakfast, dress, and be on my merry way. See u later. June

Many thanks to Friends thinking about me and wondering about my absence for some time.  Thanks, LARRY, for your email, which I just read and answered.  It's just been a really BUSY time keeping with Mohamed's issues in Egypt (some a it frightening like the recent car swipe on the highway which he experienced while returning from his family home), getting ready to order his books for the forthcoming University semester for his students, meeting with his University colleagues to determine who will be asked to teach which classes and welcoming a long-time friend from the USA, who is visiting for a month from the USA to celebrate a family wedding this week.

And at the other part of the World, I'm also staying in touch with my son, who is current stationed at a Military base in South Korea and getting to know his fellow Officers and soldiers.

And in my own World, the time has been taken up by keeping track of my medical appointments - next one this afternoon RE my continued INTENSE head pains - encouraging the one fellow who is mowing our huge lawn while his usual partner is on a 3 week vacation.  The lawn looks beautiful and I continue to encourage the one fellow to stop a couple of minutes periodically to drink, drink, drink the water I hand him.  Then occasionally I tour it on his head (after he has removed his cap and dark glasses.

So never fear, I'm still reading the Posts and enjoying them.  I send beat wishes to all Friends here and hope you enjoy whatever you are doing!

See folks, I knew it would work if we all shouted out.....MOLLEEE....good to have you back within our clan....

Good Morning Everyone!

Busy, busy morning. wife got in to see dentist, working her in, to see about a tooth that she thinks is infected.  She isn't back yet.

I had to pickup our cleaning lady this morning and rush back so I could make an appointment for my PT and believe it or not I was way early for my PT apmt and the PT person took me in and I was leaving at the time I was suppose to have started.  But he is increasing my workout and believe me I can feel it.

We are out to dinner early evening with a group from church.  So that ought to be very enjoyable.

Molly, smiling, it is great to see your post and know that you are okay.  I hope they can find the cause of the headaches.  I know exactly how they can be.  I had cluster migraines for years and tried everything.  Only thing that ever worked was a shot in the rear that just knocked me out.  One doctor told me that as I grew older I would cease to have them (I surmised from harding of the arteries) and he was right.  They did finally go away in my late fifties.

Jackie, that is scary, passing out like you did.  You need to take some kind of precautions and talk to your doctor about the problem.

Larry, our weather here really feels like it is in a transition from summer to fall, even though it is still "almost" summer temps.  Big thunderheads roaming around this morning.  Jack and Tisie could get some great pictures of the clouds. Big, high, very white and did I say big........and they, the weather gurus say 50 percent chance of boomers this weekend.

Joanie I hope you day is going well.  As usual you are taking excellent care of us.

Janie, hope you have a nice quite peaceful weekend.  Not sure what ours will be like.

Lloyd, hope you got the water line finished.

JoanFL

Molly--Glad to hear you are OK and just busy with family matters.  I continue to pray for you all.

Vanilla-Jackie--You were right.:)

halkel--You've been scurrying around so far today.  Hope the more intense PT relieves your pain.

JOAN....
...can we do the same for Gloria?...I know she would be here if she could....GLORIAAA....

HALKEL....
...I have little faith in doctors, or rather my doctor....she is the one who recently said..." you are not losing weight, nor is your bleed getting any worse..." I had to agree but what I should have said was....our dog Benji has actually put ON some weight but, he HAS cancer, and wont be with us very long.......I say, " never judge a book by its cover...."

As for seeing my doctor, I am assuming this fall was to do with my MS, she, (doctor ) is not experienced in MS, and of course at present I dont have an MS team,.....my complaint is in process, and I said, whatever the outcome I dont wish to continue with them...I have lost all trust.....re, MS Specialist Nurse not turning up for my home appointment, nor contacting me to tell me......MS Specialist Nurse not receiving my email, re, to contact MS Consultant on my behalf, re, written medical mistakes on my letter, that took 2 weeks, once I had told her, she admitted she hadn't even seen the email......the mix up with an MS Specialist Nurse appointment that some " unknown " person had supposedly cancelled, but never had the decency to tell me.....so a wasted journey for an appointment that went to someone else, although I had the confirmation appointment letter as proof in my hands.....Oh and not forgetting my new female doctor forgetting to put in my urinary bleed hospital referral, putting me back seven weeks...

JeanneP
