Good Sunday morning, Everyfriend.  There's a breakfast frittata to go with your coffee or tea.  Have a blessed Sunday.

Thanks to Phyllis for her lovely “Beat the Heat” graphic creation which we are using this week.

Food For Thought

"We Need Revival"
(Written by N.L. DeMoss)

We Need Revival When:

. . . we do not love Him as we once did.

. . . earthly interests and occupations are more important to us than Eternal ones.

. . . church dinners are better attended than prayer meetings.

. . . concerts draw bigger crowds than prayer meetings.

. . . we have little or no desire for prayer.

. . . we would rather make money than give money.

. . . we put people into leadership positions in our churches who do not meet scriptural qualifications.

. . . our Christianity is joyless and passionless.

. . . we know truth in our heads that we are not practicing in our lives.

. . . we make little effort to witness to the lost.

. . . we have time for sports, recreation and entertainment, but not for Bible study and prayer.

. . . preaching lacks conviction, confrontation and divine fire and anointing.

. . . we seldom think thoughts of Eternity.

. . . God's people are more concerned about their jobs and their careers, than about the Kingdom of Christ and the Salvation of the lost.

. . . church services are predictable and "business as usual."

. . . believers can be at odds with each other and not feel compelled to pursue reconciliation.

. . . Christian husbands and wives are not praying together.

. . . our marriages are co-existing rather than full of the love of Christ.

. . . our children are growing up to adopt worldly values, secular philosophies and ungodly lifestyles.

. . . we are more concerned about our children's education and their athletic activities than about the condition of their souls.

. . . sin in the church is pushed under the carpet.

. . . known sin is not dealt with through the biblical process of discipline and restoration.

. . . we tolerate "little" sins of gossip, a critical spirit and lack of love.

. . . we will watch things on television and movies that are not holy.

. . . our singing is half-hearted and our worship lifeless.

. . . our prayers are empty words designed to impress others.

. . . our prayers lack fervency.

. . . our hearts are cold and our eyes are dry.

. . . we aren't seeing regular evidence of the supernatural power of God.

. . . we have ceased to weep and mourn and grieve over our own sin and the sin of others.

. . . we are content to live with explainable, ordinary Christianity and church services.

. . . we are bored with worship.

. . . people have to be entertained to be drawn to church.

. . . our music and dress become patterned after the world.

. . . we start fitting into and adapting to the world, rather than calling the world to adapt to God's standards of holiness.

. . . we don't long for the company and fellowship of God's people.

. . . people have to be begged to give and to serve in the church.

. . . our giving is measured and calculated, rather than extravagant and sacrificial.

. . . we aren't seeing lost people drawn to Jesus on a regular basis.

. . . we aren't exercising faith and believing God for the impossible.

. . . we are more concerned about what others think about us than what God thinks about us . . . we are unmoved by the fact that 2.5 billion people in this world have never heard the name of Jesus.

. . . we are unmoved by the thought of neighbors, business associates and acquaintances who are lost and without Christ.

. . . People complain about prayers not being allowed in schools but churches can't get people out for prayer meetings where it is allowed

. . . the lost world around us doesn't know or care that we exist.

. . . we are making little or no difference in the secular world around us.

. . . the fire has gone out in our hearts, our marriages and the church.

. . . we are blind to the extent of our need and don't think we need revival.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We had a good sleeping night.  The temp went down to the low 70 and I opened the window.  For the first time in several nights, I slept through the night.

Natalie is on her way to the airport to return to Texas and I miss her already! It's so good to have the kids come home and light up our lives!  I just wish they all were not so scattered!

I, too, enjoyed the photos of Don and Bubble.  So much love is there!

Must be on the way to getting ready for church.  I'll be back later to see what Everyfriend has been up to, today!  Make it a good one!

Good morning, Janie.  My kids and grandchildren + nieces and nephews are scattered all over the US, too.  The times I get to see them are precious.

Lloyd--Good morning.  I am sorry you've incurred a big expense with that broken water line.

Good morning, Amy.  We STILL have had no rain. :(

Hi everyone on a nice 77 degree morning here in South Carolina.  I am ready for Sunday School and Church but still need to read the Sunday School lesson.  After church I will stop and get something to bring home for our main meal of the day.  I seem to be gaining a wee bit more confidence in the kitchen as each day passes.  Last evening I fixed the hamburgers and we finished up some left overs.  Now I am going to have to cook some more things for our meal on Monday.  Pat is only slowly, if at all, gaining ground.  She was able to sleep laying down yesterday afternoon and then again last night so guess that is a step forward.  She is still experiencing the muscle spasms when she stands or moves a certain way.  Nothing else on the schedule for today.

Joan, I think a lot of the price we pay for doctors is due to the many government regulations and the complexity of health insurance filings.

deAngel, I think I have finally gotten rested by staying home the last two days and having a long afternoon nap as well as sleeping well during the night.  I do have something on the calendar for today with Church and for the next four days as well.  Glad you got some rain.

Amy, that is a nice charity your friends support with the bake sale.

Hal, I had a friend years ago that when he retired his wife did as well and they ate out every meal.  I think they just had two meals a day.  Like you I get tired of eating out too much, although when Pat is up to it we do eat out often.

Phyllis, that is an appropriate graphic that Joan posted for us to enjoy.  Beating the heat has been a big job this summer.

Good MOrning Everyone!

Well it rained all day yesterday, well most of the day, and I think it rained most of the night.  I heard thunder a couple of times.  Wife said there was three inches of rain in rain gauge and she emptied it last night.  Hope we got as much over our recharge zone.  Weather lady last night said just East and South of us some folks could expect up to 12 inches of rain.  They are under a flood alert.  Thats Texas for you.  Drought or flood.

Lloyd, hope you get your water problem solved pronto.  You don't have a well on your place?

Larry, we do eat in a lot of time, just that wife is just not up to cooking meals like she used to.  She is an excellent baker and can make some great things, but doesn't like being in the kitchen.

Got a lot going on next week.  I think I have an appointment everyday of the week, between PT and doctors.  At least don't have to travel too far for about helf of them.

Got to run, getting ready for church and want to get a bite to eat.

Good morning, Larry.  You sure are doing well in the kitchen.  When my mother lost her sight and hearing, my Dad took over the cooking, laundry and cleaning.  Up to that time he had NEVER done any of those things in their married life.  He amazed us all at how proficient he became at doing those chores.  I pray Pat continues on a path to become pain free.

halkel--Good morning.  So you folks are keeping all the rain to yourselves.:)  Sure wouldn't wish a flood on anyone.

After my mother died, my dad did the cooking for the most part.  I did some on weekends.  Dad came home from school before I came home from work and he'd get things going.  We both liked to watch the news on TV at 6 pm (in those days) so we had to eat early.  Dad was a by-guess-and-by-gosh cook, no recipes for him.  If we wanted desserts (and we did), I made them.

Good Morning,

It's delightfully cool in central Oklahoma.  Thanks, Shirley - for sending us the "cold front".

Unfortunately, my area didn't get any rain and we do need it.  Hal?

Larry,  I'm very impressed with your meal preparing skills!  Would have been interesting to see how well my husband would have done in similar circumstances.
Once, when I was away and had called home to check on the family, I asked our son how Dad was doing in the kitchen.  He said, "Pretty good - but his pancakes look like scrambled eggs."  I was amazed he had tried to make pancakes!!!!

Today is the day I take a deep breath and may not come up for air until this time next week.

Great-niece will be driving up from Austin TX for a week-long professional workshop and is staying with me.  She'll be gone from 9 - 5 every day, so all I really need to think about is an evening meal and things for DIY breakfasts.
Janie is such a good example that I've planned and cooked ahead as much as possible.  :)

Miss Ellen will be home for a few days because there are no rehearsals once performances begin.  She and her cousin are the same age and both in The Arts so have become good friends "electronically".  Ellen is coming for dinner tomorrow night.
I'm sure the rest of the local family will pop in other evenings.

It's been a very long time since I had to plan and keep up with meals for a week!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

Good morning, Mary Ann.  My dad didn't do any baking--he went to the local bakery for the sweet stuff.

Callie--Good morning.  Guess your husband got a "D" in cooking.:)  Wow--you're having quite a variety of guests this coming week.  That's quite a bit of cooking.  At this point, I'd be overwhelmed.

My dad was a good cook.  He grew up in a farm family of boys and they all learned the homemaking skills.  I grew up thinking all men could cook.  My grandfather was a master baker who owned a bakery in his youth.   Then I married!  My husband was the only son in an Italian family.  He was the Crown Prince at home and I don't think he was ever required to do any more than carry in the groceries for his mother.

Once, when my kids were little and I was away at mealtime for some reason, he said he get supper for them.  His first question was, "How do you manage to get everything on the table at the same time?"  Cathy was about 6 and she said, "Yeah, first we had peas and then we sat and waited for a while and then we had a pork chop and then we waited some more and we had potatoes.  I don't like to wait!"  He thought you could start everything at the same time and finish up at the same time.  That was the one and only time he ever tried cooking!  Although he did get pretty good at grilling hamburgers and hot dogs.

I better get busy.  I went by the farmers market after church and I now have mucho red beets in the kitchen to deal with.  Right now they're sitting in water cleaning themselves.  I think I better go help them.  They're not very good at baths.

P.S.  If Callie's husband gets a D, mine must get and F.  Is there anything lower than F?

Janie--My dad came from an Italian family--four boys and four girls.  The girls did household things and the boys ran the store.  The boys never had to lift a finger in the house/kitchen.  But, when my mother became too ill to do any of that, Dad stepped up to the plate and amazed us all.  I think your husband get an F-. What are you going to do with the beets?

Sunday Morning, I am showered and shampooed. Had a cup of coffee and an oatmeal cookie for breakfast, and if I keep holding together I plan to go to Chapel at 10 a.m. Right now, I would love to crawl back into bed.

Also sent my sweet grandaughter, Ricki, a B. Card from Jacquie Lawsons program.Gary has taken over sending out B.day and other  checks , God Bless him, but I try to remember to do a J.L. card myself. If I get any more "retired" I may forget to get dressed in the morning.

I hope you all have a beautiful Sunday. June

When my mother got shingles about 8 years before she died, my sister took food to them all the time, she lived about 30 miles away.  Dad had his specialties.... basically... french fries he fixed in a Fry Baby I had given them years before, and he absolutely loved baked apples.  He would fix a whole cookie sheet full, wash, removed the core & pack with brown sugar & maybe cinnamon & bake.  They were always ready for anyone that came into the kitchen.  He would peel a bunch of potatoes, never considered the frozen ones, & they (and I) could make a meal of french fries & catsup.   He learned it was easier to keep a pot of boiling water & instant coffee for the many people that visited them every day, so Mom let him play host.  Her shingles would break out every time she got upset, huge, deep sores that went on until she died.

I always took food when I visited.... the things that took all day to cook & my sister didn't fix.  They never went hungry or let anyone that came go hungry.  They had a KFC near by & would insist we'd "do them a favor by taking their money to buy a bucket full of chicken or whatever sounded good".  It made them feel they could still put food on their table.

On the other hand, my husband could build the house around a kitchen but when left alone would fix himself a bowl of cold cereal 3 times a day, couldn't be bothered with toast..... I finally bought him a Kurig..... and I'd leave him frozen TV dinners that I made.  As time went by I found he could make it through the one dairy store drive thru lane..... (that made super hamburgers) because he loved their malts.... if I left him a gift card so he didn't have to dig out change.  He didn't like to admit he couldn't hear how much they wanted, so with a gift card, all he had to do was hand it to them.

Even after my heart surgery & having kids, I was back in the kitchen the day I got home from the hospital..... and it was okay with me, if I could stand & walk, I could fix food.  We are all just what we are & it never entered my mind to be sick enough to be in bed.  I asked my daughter not long ago (was doubting my own memory) if she could remember any day that I stayed in bed..... she couldn't.  I was afraid I'd miss out on something, I think.  My fear is the day comes when I can't do what I want, really scares me, so my tummy does flips when anyone can't get up & go, & my prayers are with you.  I know I'm lucky/blessed, and it can be taken away at any time, so I give thanks every day.... for the day.

And now, got shocking news yesterday when I took the RV to the Ford dealership to have those metal valve stems installed.  Turned out the spare tire that was the original inside dual... got a cut in the sidewall so I had the tire people switch the two.... has a metal valve stem in place from the get-go.  I have no idea if the spare that was put on & made one trip to St.Louis & came home flat had a metal valve stem because it was thrown away to install the new tire on the rim.  It came home minus the bracket that held the valve extender on & had a gash in that sidewall.  Conclusion NOW is that the brackets came loose & cut the sidewalls..... and the new tire I bought at that time was mounted with a rubber valve stem plus the valve extender.

That tire made one trip to CO & came back with the rubber valve stem cracked loose.  The mechanic showed my son &  the valve stem broken away from the tire wall (got a photo) as reason for that tire flat.  Said rubber valve stems should NEVER have extenders attached.  BUT THEY DID IT!!!  When they called next day to say the tire was ruined because I drove it flat & should have checked air before leaving town... my comment was "YOU checked the air the day before I left!"  They sent me a receipt for the tire as paid up.... but I had told them that if Thor didn't pay, I would"..... so after talking to Thor & Ford & both denied ever putting rubber valve stems on this vehicle....

I called the tire people & begged to let me pay for the tire.  I was still convinced they were the only place I could get this lemon fixed... New man in charge.  I was told they would not do any more work on the RV... period!  The man at the desk that first offered to help me and the mechanic that put on the new extender & bracket were both gone last time I needed them.... only the guy that changed the tires in my driveway & warned me that the rubber valve stem was the problem, knew what was going on.

Finding out from Ford yesterday has left me so relieved I came home & slept 5 hours.  I'm not going after the tire people, has cost me a bundle but the guys that goofed are gone & can't hold the "shop" responsible.  It cost me $139.06 yesterday for 3 valve stems + labor (ended up needing only one as the other inside dual already had the required metal one)... but since they had to take all those tires off & did check air in all 7 (including the spare with the gash).... I thought it worth every penny.  Their opinion was the gash wasn't so bad that it couldn't be driven on, not just to a place to buy a new one.   I am SO relieved......

OH.... time to get to gr-grandaughter's birthday party!!!!    ' Scuse any typos.... no time to proof!  Shirley

My dad grew up in two small towns in Minnesota - one has a current population of 200 so I imagine it was about the same around 1900 +\-.  By the time he was born, two children had died and Dad made three alive; one child was born after him.  By the time they matured, Dad and his brother were the only ones living, both married and we had four Tock cousins.  Dad learned to do everything, even knit.

I think my mother was the one catered to because her father died a month after she was born.  There were many relatives in town and I think they babied her because she had no father.  She had plenty of uncles and aunts though.  My mother was a good cook, nothing fancy, but she was well known at church for her lemon pies and tarts.  She let me "help" her at my young age and I specialized in cakes - made from scratch.  Our desserts after mother died were usually cakes, although Mother's sister taught me to make a pie crust from scratch (something I would never do now).  We preferred fruit pies, especially cherry and apple, but I made a lemon pie occasionally.  With Dad as the cook, we ate well.

Good late afternoon, was sunny part of the day, and then would cloud  and looke like rain. Weatherman said 80% chance of rain to night.

When we retired my husband made breakfast nealy every morning. WE would read the paper, while having coffee. the he would ask what I wanted to eat. Anything from French toast, eggs al kinds of way, I also learn to eat scauge and bisquits.  He also made a lot of our dinners.

Phyllis, thanks for another great graphic. I have a pair of cardinals here everyday.

Joan, as always thanks for good readings and great breakfast. I don't gain weight on them. :)

Bis, you had a good marriage to Ray. You respected each other and were able to share duties nicely. You were an excellent couple. I recall how you used to tote in dozens of cans of energy drinks for him.

The program they had today has finally ceased. It was titled, Concert in the Park. UGH !!! I was NOT geared for Seniors. Very loud keyboard and drums...raucous noise, no rhythm whatsoever. I came home, closed my windows tightly turned on the A/C and settled in for the day. Called the office ad asked how long we were going to have to abide the noise. The girl at the desk felt exactly as I did. They banged away from1:30 to nearly 4:00. I'm quite sure they will not be invited to return.

We had two power outages today. The first one happened when I was out. Came home to find I had to replug my computer, then another that was very short and all I had to do was restart. I called Gary to tell him what had happened. He right away got on the phone with Edison, and found a 160 homes in Stanton had been affected. I don't know the reason why, but I had read earlier that Ca. should expect power outages frequently, something to do with power plants that had been shut down year ago. I feel many of our errors of the past will be haunting future generations for years to come. Alas.

Joanie, the redbeets are all canned.  I make spiced pickled beets and then I can have pickled eggs whenever I want them.  For the uninitiated, pickled eggs came from my German heritage...the PA Dutch.  I know they are made in other places but I also know there are people who have no idea what they are.  They are hard cooked eggs, peeled and dropped in red beet juice with the beets and no picnic is complete around here without them.  The very best ones have been in the red beets long enough that the entire white of the egg is pinkish purple.

I have 15 beautiful pints sitting on my kitchen counter and I'm bushed but proud.  I love looking at the finished product.  Of course, while I was making them, I was telling myself, "This is the last year I'm going to make these.  They are getting to be too much work."  Then they are finished and I get to eat them through the winter and, if I'm able next summer, I'll probably do it again.

I'm finished in time to watch the closing ceremony of the Olympics.  I don't know if I'll be awake for all of it but I'm sure going to try.

Joanie, I'm sure my sister and BIL have the same agreement you did with your husband.  He certainly knows how to cook but she usually does it and he usually cleans up.  Many years ago, I said I was going to do the dishes after supper (it was just the 3 of us) and she said "Jim will probably hit you if you try to do his job."  His answer, "I won't hit you but I'll shove you out of my way".  I chose not to interfere with something that works.

My son is a very good cook...even helps his wife with the canning.  When my kids were growing up, I cooked and they cleaned up.  Each one took a turn on the week days and they all chipped in on Friday so they could go get ready for dates.  My son makes a better apple pie than I ever did!

It is not quite seven o'clock here on the west coast, but I think I will call it a day, close down the computer, turn down the bed and go finish my book, and so to sleep. I pray you all have a very peaceful night and a happy tomorrow. God grant you Love, health and happiness. June.

CHUCKLES

Combination

The temporary Sunday School teacher was struggling to open a combination lock on the supply cabinet. She had been told the combination, but couldn't quite remember it. Finally she went to the pastor's study and asked for help.

The pastor came into the room and began to turn the dial. After the first two numbers he paused and stared blankly for a moment. Finally he looked serenely heavenward and his lips moved silently. Then he looked back at the lock, and quickly turned to the final number, and opened the lock.

The teacher was amazed. "I'm in awe at your faith, pastor," she said.

"It's really nothing," he answered. "The number is on a piece of tape on the ceiling."

Food For Thought

Two Opinions

By John Kuperus

Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 18:20-39
If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.
1 Kings 18:21
We are people with a choice. Whom shall we worship as God? The Lord? Our wallets? Our political party’s opinions?
Elijah confronted his people with a choice. Choose the Lord God, or choose King Ahab, his wife Jezebel, and their idol Baal. God had long ago told his people to worship him only (Exodus 20:3-4), but when Ahab married Jezebel, a foreign princess, she introduced the worship of her god, Baal, in Israel. Ahab set up an altar and temple for Baal and “did more to arouse the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, than did all the kings of Israel before him” (1 Kings 16:33). Jezebel began to kill off the Lord’s prophets (1 Kings 18:4), and God had now sent Elijah to put a stop to all this.
It appears the people wanted to worship both Baal and God. But this angered the Lord, and, through Elijah, God asked the people, “How long will you waver between two opinions?”
To that question today someone might respond, “Why choose between two gods? Aren’t they all valid?” But God says, “I am the Lord . . . I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols” (Isaiah 42:8). Elijah challenged the people to see if an idol would answer them. Baal was silent, but God’s power came through as fire consumed the altar and the water around it. The people exclaimed, “The Lordâ€"he is God!” Do you trust the one and only God as your God?
Lord, we glorify your name because you alone are the true God, worthy of all honor and praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning" to you, Joanie.  It looks like I was next to last in and last night and second in this morning.  I slept well last night, maybe because it was so much cooler, only 61º so far this morning.  It must have been good sleeping weather.

I didn't get to see about half of the closing ceremony of the Olympics.  I made the mistake of putting my recliner all the way back at some point and I woke up to the 11 o'clock news.

I think I'm going to go to the berry farm this morning.  I had an email that the red raspberries are heavy on the bushes.  I'm short about one cup for my jam and I'd sure like to have some to eat, also.  It's relaxing to be out on the farm in the morning and I sure could use an easy day.

I hope Everyfriend who comes along has a lovely day full of the love of friends and family.

Good morning, Janie.  When I got up I looked at my thermometer, and it was 81°.  We don't get any nights as cool as you do.  Yummy--red raspberries.  Yesterday it was beets and today berries.  You're "queen of the kitchen".

Good morning, Amy.  Travel safely, and I hope your husband's test results are good.  If it was 42° here, I'd have the furnace on.

Phyllis--Good morning.  I've had coffee and am going to fix my breakfast very soon.

Good morning, Lloyd.  I know you are glad to once again have water in the house.

Hi everyone.  When I checked the weather forecast earlier this morning it said we had 96% humidity and no chance of rain today or for the next several days. It is not suppose to be as hot today as over the weekend. This will be our usual Monday with my noon meeting and then Pat's 4 pm appointment with the chiropractor.  I plan on doing some cooking today as we have eaten up all of the leftovers.

Hal, for the last couple of years my wife has become like yours just not up to doing a lot of cooking.  We do try to eat a lot of salads and have a vegetable or two with our main meals along with a protein.  I think we will be eating more fish since I found the Tilapia at COSTCO.  I am thinking that I will suggest having a salad supper tonight with canned salmon.

Joan, your Dad was a good example of what we can do when we have to under given circumstances.  I don't mind the work but just don't have much energy anymore.  However, resting a few minutes seems to restore me for a little more work.

Mary Ann, the only remembrance I have of my Dad cooking was to pop some popcorn in an old fashioned popper that had the handle on top that you stirred as the corn popped.  I still think that is the best.  However, now it is microwave popcorn although we seldom have it.

Callie, I bet your Dad would have stepped up and done the cooking if necessary.  Like a lot of things our first attempts will likely not be things of beauty.  If anyone comes and stays a week with us they will have to pitch in and help.  My SIL is the only one coming to visit for any length of time and she is no trouble.  In fact, she is a great cook.

JaneS, getting things ready at the same time is a bit of a problem with me as well, although the microwave saves the day often.

June, I like the Jacquie Lawson cards and there sure a lot of them.  I am glad you rest as you need to do so.  That program certainly doesn't sound like something older folks would enjoy.  Have you thought of asking Dan to pick your computer with an extension cord so the plug would be at the level you sit to plug and unplug.  When we moved here I set my office up so that everything was handy without having to get down on the floor or under my desk.

Shirley, nice of your Dad to always have something to share with company and he obviously felt that apples were something he did well and would be enjoyed.  Nice of you to do the more difficult cooking for your parents.  That RV isn't worth your getting sick over.  Your days are too important for you to spend them fretting over a piece of metal.  Not all of our decisions turn out to be good ones but we did the best we could at the time and with the knowledge we had.

Amy, it will be quite a few weeks yet before we have a night at 42 degrees.

Last night it was 56 degrees when I went to bed and this morning it was 52 degrees.  Good sleeping weather.

Larry, we had a popcorn popper like yours, loaned it to a neighbor who said it burned out and they threw it away.  I don't remember what we did after that but we did have popcorn.  And, yes, we now use microwave popcorn - when we have popcorn and that is seldom.

Larry, you want to be wary of extension cords.  If you are using regular cords (very thin), they may not be able to carry the wattage of a computer - and I forget how many watts the computers are.  A "too small" extension cord would not only burn out the cord, but would do damage to the computer.

I'm back home with the red raspberries.  My plan was to pick two boxes and that would give me enough to make a batch of jam with the ones I have in the freezer from earlier in the season and some to just eat.  But they were so plentiful and so easy to pick that I came home with 5 boxes.  Sounds like a good day to bake something with raspberries.

I'm going to give the doggies a snack, eat some lunch and get busy.  I'll put a few raspberries in the hidey hole if anyone wants any.

Good Morning Dear Hearts. I am having a great start to my day. I hope I can retain it all day long, and into the tomorrows. I would like to report what I read, with the hope that it would help any of you, my beloved friends.  Here goes……..

"Trust me, and don't be afraid. I want you to view trials as exercises designed to develop your trust-muscles. You live in the midst of fierce spiritual battles, and fear is one of Satan's favorite weapons. When you start to feel afraid, affirm your trust in me. Speak out loud if circumstances permit. Resist the devil in My name and he will slink away from you. Refresh yourself in My holy Presence. Speak or sing praises to Me, and My Face will shine radiantly upon you.
Remember that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Me. You have been judged NOT GUILTY for all eternity. Trust Me, and do not be afraid, for I am your Strength, Song, and Salvation."    Sarah Young.

I pray I offend no one, but had the urge to share. Now it is time to have a bite to eat, then get on with the day. I may go down to see the movie at1:30. "The long, long, trailer". Depending on whether I fall asleep or stay awake. One never knows….. :)

Good Morning Everyone,  from the
warm and sunny,  rocky coast of Maine.

I  was up very late last night ordering me a    Nexus 5X Smart Phone,
from Google Project Fi ...
Fortunately for me my daughter Erin has one and
she absolutely loves it.

I had to get rid of my
smart phone about 3 years ago
(after I came off the road)
and I really miss it ...

So I am very excited about getting me
a new one.    And very lucky to have
Erin here to help me get acclimated to
using one again.

I was up very late,  so I suppose today I
will need a nap...

I hope that everyone has a good day.

Larry--My dad did remind us that when one HAS to do something, they somehow figure it out.  He cooked simple meals, but they were nourishing.

Mary Ann--It's very, very seldom we get temps that low at night--even in the winter.  Thanks for the info about Angelface's misfortune.

Janie--Thanks for the raspberries.  I'll get some from the hidey hole and have them with my lunch.

Linedancer--Drive carefully when going to get groceries.

June--Thanks for sharing.  I hope you enjoy the movie.

Sandy--Good luck with your new phone.

Merry Monday,

Great-niece arrived safely after a very long drive.  We don't know each other very well but she is delightful - and a "talker" - so I'm sure we'll be well acquainted by the end of the week.

Hal, she said she had to wait until the streets had cleared of rainwater before she left whatever part of Austin she lives in.  Wish she could have brought some with her!

Larry,  I was speaking of my husband re: the cooking - not my Dad.  Good Gracious,  except for a few years in a boarding house while he was in college, he went straight from his mother's house to married living - in the same town - and I don't think he even knew how to boil water!!!!

He was not a handyman and my mother did not identify herself by her housekeeping skills (neither do I).  She was an excellent cook but not a creative one and she didn't bake anything but cobbler (NO pies!!) and, occasionally, cupcakes  However, the cookie jar was always full and she always made gingerbread boys for my class at Christmas time.  I took some to a class reunion and most of them remembered those.

JanieS,  you and my daughter-in-law would make a good pair!  She has spent the summer canning and freezing vegetables and fruit - and making several kinds of jelly.  Haven't heard if she's made the Christmas pickles.  I turned that job over to her several years ago.

Pork roast and sweet potatoes are in the slow cooker for a family dinner tonight.  Did I mention that gr-niece's mom will be here overnight on her way home to Phoenix from Nashville?  I decided the "locals" might as well join us!!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

Callie, I think I might have an heir to the pickle making.  My granddaughter has ventured into dill pickles (he favorite) and she was asking questions about other kinds of pickles this weekend.  She better hurry!  We don't know how much time any of us have left.

Back to reality today after prepping two days for lots of company and fun yesterday.  Relatives and friends came specifically so we could introduce them to each other.  It was so much fun and easy because our family did all the cooking and entertaining.

Don is working on electronic issues - he contacts the company and no one returns his answers.  We have several things going on in the house and each problem is one that has never happened before  - so the plumber says on the bathroom sink issue and the electronics have never had that problem before they insist.  So it goes.

Jenny - I have been fortunate to have been to that building in London and saw three plays on three visits.  Our daughter was at the London Economic school one year and we ended up walking out on an anti-Margaret Thatcher play because of the never-ending cursing.  It was plain stupid and sorry we spent the money on tickets.  Otherwise, saw Phantom and Cats.  My parents looked like they tolerated Cats but didn't understand all of it.  Loved the music from the last two.

Laundry and dishes are done and put away.  Tuesday is the quilting group here - my back is giving me fits today so just have to work around that fact.  I gave one DIL my dehydrator because she has a garden - expecting to see some herbs.

Best to all.

Janie--Good there is a heir to the pickle making.

Carol--How nice the family can get together.  Too bad you overdid and are suffering today.  Hopefully Don can get the electronic issues worked out.

I got something so funny (I thought) today, friend was laughing so hard I couldn't understand her so she sent it e-mail...  came to share it with you but after reading June's beautiful offering (thank you June) I am afraid mine will really offend.  Not my intention.... but someone remembered the phrase... "the devil made me do it".... so we will not whack old Shirley for passing this on, okay?   :crazy2:

William Golding: British Novelist, Playwright & Poet: 1911-1993
I think women are foolish to pretend they are equal to men.  They are far superior and always have been.  Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater.  If you give her sperm, she will give you a baby.  If you give her a house, she will give you a home.  If you give her groceries, she will give you a meal.  If you give her a smile, she will give you her heart.  She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.  So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.

And now on with my day!  Jane, I have not been able to get near a raspberry for more than 60 years.... so silly to carry on anything that long, but just a whiff or speck of flavor hits my taste buds & my insides heave.  They are beautiful this year and seems all the stores are having demonstrations & sales.  My hat is off to you for keeping up the traditions!

Callie, did you enjoy the few days/evenings of cooler temps?  I think the worst of summer is over but sorry to go back to normal weather.  No rain here... couple days ago when everyone else was flooding we got about an inch & half at our house.  Was not too much to make the river bed wet so went on down & fed the fish.

I am so anxious to get on the road & play with my toy.... and make sure it really is fixed.  If I come back & don't have to buy a new tire I will be happy.

Hal, good work with the PT..... I did a lot of reading about things we could do to keep strong when my father decided he wasn't going to move any more.  He refused to make any effort to keep his muscles strong and 7 months before he died, he faced his worst fear of having to go into full care.  His muscles wouldn't support him, his brain was a sharp as ever and there was nothing we (his kids) could do to help.  I know I get on the soapbox about keeping muscles strong but his situation was so avoidable.... and I did do a lot of crying for him.  Keep up the good work!       :tiredtread:

halkel--I bet the PT will be more tolerable as time goes on.

Shirley--Golding had it just about right.:)  Hopefully you can get out and test your toy soon.

Tisie, thank you, and thank you for the good hearty laugh.

Hal, I think I know just how you feel. I have never had physical therapy, but it takes so little to make me so very tired. Life keeps throwing us these curves doesn't it ? But we'll take it my friend and hopefully grow from it.

I went down for the movie..Lucy Ball and Desi Araz, in The Long, Long Trailer. It was a long, long movie, with absolutely no plot at all. Just a lot of inane things happening. I guess what could be called "slap stick" comedy. O, Well, at least I got a free ice cream bar.

Now I am home for the day with the exception of probably a few more walks before bed time.. see you later kids.

Cobbler sounds good!  I also printed a recipe for muffins.  They freeze well.

I had to stop admiring the jars of beets and put them on the shelf in the storage room.  The jam is still sitting on the counter.  You aren't supposed to disturb it for 24 hours.  The last jar isn't completely full so I might have to sample that one.

Shirley, I'm so sorry that you can't abide red raspberries.  They are especially good and very large this year.  I went intending to get 2 boxes and I came home with 5.  The picking was so easy that I got carried away.

WM called me today and asked me if I could work 11 -3 tomorrow instead of 9-1 because one of the kid cashiers has a scrimmage in the afternoon.  I agreed to do that so maybe I'll get going in the morning and make some muffins....or a cobbler.

Jane:  Don't you need a muffin tester?  All of us are available.

Joan:  I thought my back was getting better - today, helping Don move a t.v. to another room & lift it higher - well, good old Tylenol helped a lot.  We really do not like to ask the children for help.  It is alright, a nap helped too.

I am thinking about that young man who won a gold medal in Rio and has ruined his life with an lie about being robbed at gunpoint.  He wasn't brought up properly - tell the truth and admit your wrong deed.

Muffin testers, be on the alert.  If I get them made in the morning, I'll put some in the hidey hole for you to try.

JeanneP, I don't know if they work for me either but I'm going to give them a try.  I have everything except the egg and the milk set out and ready to go.  The recipe says to "fold them in gently" after everything else is mixed.  So I'll be as gentle as I can.

Looking Beyond Limitations
(Author Unknown)

There was an article in the May 5, 2000 edition of The Denver Post, written by Linda Usrey Long from the Portales News-Tribune. It is a true story about a man named Lyle Bert, age 64. Mr. Bert has an associates's, bachelor's, AND a master's degree, and hosts "The Lyle Bert Show," in Portales, New Mexico.

There is a lot more information than what is being shared here, but the main gist of the article is about how Mr. Bert was in an accident in 1965, while handling a homemade rocket that exploded. He says:

"I lost both hands, the eyesight in both eyes . . . My jaw was broken . . . My face and lips were burned. I had 124 penetration wounds in my chest and abdomen. I almost lost my right leg . . . Pieces of device went through my leg and through my abdomen. They amputated my hands . . . and I lost two-thirds of my stomach."

While speaking to the Conference on the Handicapped a few years ago (in Santa Fe, New Mexico), Lyle Bert shared something very worthy of repeating:

"A person who has no legs
can still achieve great heights;
A person who has no hands
can still grasp an idea;
A person who has no sight
can still have great vision;
And a person who can't move
can still lead."

Good morning everyone.

Love the temp this morning 40° but hubby must have felt the cold and put a fire on in the cookstove. He now has to go for a CT scan and may need an operation. Gosh this is never ending in the golden years. All we can do is pray for the best.

Have a lot to catch up on it and outside the house today.

Jane, I LOVE raspberries ,raspberry anything so I will be checking of the hidey hole later today. My canes did bear but for what I picked  not worth taking up the space in my small garden. I am going to see if someone wants to dig up the canes for their garden.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm a bit late getting in here today because I made the muffins as soon as I got up.  I set everything out on the counter except the milk and egg and then I went to bed.  Because of the temperature (50 overnight) I slept very well.  Anyway, muffins in the hidey hole for all the testers.  I think this recipe is a keeper.  Even a "sometime baker" like me can't ruin them.

Forgot who it was that said the berries didn't stay whole but I was a s gentle as I could possible be and they seem to be whole.  Whatever happened in there, they sure do taste "more-ish".  I'm going to go get another one.

Make it a good day Everyfriend!

Hi everyone.  We are in for another nice mostly cloudy day with it getting up to only around 91 degrees this afternoon.  In a little bit I will leave for a dental appointment to have my teeth cleaned.  Pat was suppose to go as well but a few days ago realized she wouldn't be able to make the appointment and cancelled it for now.  The rest of the day I will do some cooking, making some more sausage muffins for Pat, some macaroni salad for me and some other things for supper.  We are going to put some chicken in the crock pot.  I will stop at Aldi's on the way home from the dentist to pick up some fresh vegetables as they go quickly.

Microsoft did an automatic major update on Pat's laptop and it has really messed things up.  The keyboard doesn't want to work and it is putting in a notification message about every second saying the security is turned on and yet when I look at that in the control panel it assures me everything i fine.  I haven't a clue about what to do and so will wait until Scott is here tomorrow evening and see if he has any ideas.  I saw something yesterday that millions of computers have been adversely impacted by this update.  Not good.

Mary Ann, I should have said an electrical strip surge protector rather than an extension cord.  Thanks for mentioning this.

June, I liked your Sarah Young and have copied it for my file of devotional material I may use when I bring the devotional for my Sunday School class. I remember that Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez movie.  It was just pure fun.

Joan, I will never be a gourmet cook but like you dad hope what I fix is nourishing.  Did you really get down to 40 degrees last night.  It didn't get below the mid-70's here last night.

Callie, like you husband I also went pretty much straight from living at home having my mother's cooking (even while I attended college) to getting married about six weeks after graduating and starting to work.  I was staying in a hotel during that time and sure I had to eat my meals out.

Amy, it seems it is a never ending series of appointments and medical procedures for you husband.  Do hope he doesn't face further surgery.

Good Morning Everyone!

Ah, the smell and taste of warm fresh muffins with a good cup of coffee.  Thank you Janie.

Joanie, top of the morning to you.  Hope you have a good day.

Amy, yep! life is grand in the golden years.  I too have to pay a visit to my Urologist this afternoon.  I cant wait...... :uglystupid2:

Lloyd I just sat down at the puter.  Just turned it on about 15 mins ago.
Hope your day goes well.

Off to get coffee.

I had all the stuff ready to make salsa so I went ahead and set it cooking.  It's now in the canner and I'm going to go get a shower and get ready for work while it processes.

Glad you like the muffins.  I think I'll make another batch and freeze them in singles.  Maybe I'll try freezing one first and see how it is when it thaws.  I think a short zap in the microwave will be good for them.  The ones I ate were slightly warm and sooooo good!  What do you think of the streusel topping?

Good morning, Lloyd.  Sorry your night's sleep was broken up.

Larry--Good morning.  It wasn't 40° here--it was 80° when I got up.  I was commenting on Amy saying it was 40° where she lives.  That's too bad that the update messed up Pat's computer.  Maybe you and Scott together can get it running properly.

Janie--Yummy--salsa!!  The streusel topping on the muffins was tasty.

Janie's streusel topped raspberry muffins are super special.  Being cyber, of course, I don't need to worry about those pesky seeds getting under the dentures!  Just slightly warm and dripping with butter...  MMMMMM

Good Morning, Dear Hearts and Gentle People…another lovely song.

Larry, I am so happy you found Sarah Youngs statement so worthy. I have her book, Jesus Calling, a page for each day. I am on my third reading of the same book, as I find it so worthwhile.

Hal, you sound very chipper this morning, and that makes me happy. I hope all goes well at the urologist today.

Janie dear, you too…sounding "chipper" today. Thanks be to God that your life is going so well. Does your kitchen ever get a chance to cool down and rest ?

Jeanne and Bis…..no seeds at all for me, I  don't have dentures, but a stomach that bleeds from seeds, nuts, all berries, but there is so much other good stuff I can have.

Bis, I was going to buy a whole bunch of stuff from Amazon..like heavy duty emery boards for my toenails, and saline nose drops, etc. but everything comes in too high a count. When would I ever use up 10 emery boards ? I guess I'll have to ask Dori to do some shopping for me.

Oh, my, it is after nine already..I must eat some breakfast, and get down to our basement store to snoop at their stuff before they close at 10.  Bye………

Good Morning,
I feel as if I've been in a whirlwind since 5:00 yesterday afternoon!

Time line:
5:20   Great niece arrived home from the all day workshop.
5:30   Ellen and mother arrived.
5:40   Ellen's Dad arrived.
I had put pork roast/sweet potatoes in the slow cooker and began, with Ellen's help, to get the rest of the dinner ready.
Just as we were ready to sit down,  Great-niece's mother arrived.  (I knew she was going to be spending the night - but didn't know when she would get here)

She came in the door talking  :smiley6600:, was talking when Ellen and parents left  :smiley6600:  - still talking when I bid her/gr-niece goodnight at 1030  :smiley6600: ......and came out this morning talking!  :smiley6600:

9:10 a.m. this morning   Gr-niece's mom left.
9:20   Gr-niece left for today's workshop session.

Gr-niece told me that Ellen is coming back this evening and they are going "out".  If they want dinner here, it will be Fridge Fallout!!!!!!

When I came home from the hairdresser's, it was raining just enough to mess up the windshield.  Obviously, I haven't had time to see a forecast but it's o.k. with me if it rains all day.
I plan to be very :sealedlips: all day - except for having a streusel muffin,  also warm and dripping with butter!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

June--When ordering from Amazon, there are things that come in big quantities.  Those type of things I get at the drug store.  What do they sell in your basement?

Callie--I'd say great niece's mother is a big talker.:)  There certainly is lots of activity at your house.

GHood afternoon, on another delightful day, Windows all open,

Joan wish I could send you some of this weather.

Amy prays for your husband

I am still tired from my outing yesterday. I miss some one helping me putting the groceries in the car, and then out of the car when I got home.  My next door neighbor said I should have called her to bring them in. As long as I can I will do it slowly myself. To day , I went out on the deck, had my coffee and read the paper.  Just set and relaxed, could not believed.  when I looked at my watch it was noon and I still was not dressed.  I just enjoyed setting there watching the birds in the feederand birdbath.

June glad to see you getting around.  Love your atitude.
by the way I do the best I can with spelling, I still wish we had spell check.

Jackie, a while back you ask me who Jesse is,  He is my gson, who had to have emerency surgery on his back, as he lost the use of his left leg.  He was in ICU10 days, in the hospital nearly a month and then went to rehab, after there a while he has been transfered to another hospital. He has had a lot  of set backs, but now he can stand, but not walk.  The last I heard.

Larry, I keep getting a notice to update my browser on Yahoo, but the man who takes care of my PC, said do not do anything.  All I do now is come in here to see my friends and play games.  He said leave well enough alone.  I still have Vista

Bis, our Basement store is called Bargains and Blessings, and is run by one  of the employees. It contains anything and almost everything, it is like a Rummage Room. I have donated several things to them as others have done. Every item sold there costs a dollar or less. I bought two small bowls, and a new crossword puzzle book. She charged me 1.00 for the three items. I gave her 2.00. I would love to work there, but I cannot promise to be programed, as I have said to others that need volunteer workers, I never know, till I wake in the morning what I will be able to do. Some days I find I have to be near my bed, if not in it. Age is catching up to me. We also have a little one room store that carries all sorts of notions, candies, sodas, etc. All new and store priced. I will go down soon, and check it out for things I need.

Gloria de. Somedays are great, and the past two have been fine, so far. I think it is just wonderful that you had that nice quiet time on your deck, watching the birds, and just enjoying your peace and quiet. That is the way we should all try to do now. we should forgot what we would like to do, or think we have to do, and just let go, and let God. He gave us life to enjoy his world, and that is what you have done. Congratulations girl.

Now I must water the few plants I have, which I usually water on Mondays…..this is Tuesday isn't it ????

Linedancer--How nice that the weather is pleasant enough for you to sit out.  I have a big screened in porch, but it's so hot and humid I can't sit out there.

June--Great that there's a bargain store and a notions store right there on the premises.

It also doesn't sound like Mary Ann.  The grammar is atrocious.  That's what tipped me off.

As you can see, I'm home from work and NOT rarin' to go!  I think the sofa is actually HOLLERING my name right now.  I bet it's loaded with zzzs just waiting for me to collect them.  If I do nap, it won't be for long because I think that might be why I'm not sleeping so well at night.

For the first time since I started working at WM, my feet hurt and they hurt about half way to my knees.  I'm not going to do anything that involves standing for the rest of the day.

Gloria de, I haven't commented much about Jess but I want you to know that he is in my prayers daily.  And I KNOW that prayers are answered.  It doesn't matter who prays or how we pray, He is always listening.

OH! OH!  I just glanced out in the hall and a whole herd of zzzs are on their way in here to drag me to the sofa!  BBL

Well Jackie I am back home from my apmt and and of course more ultra-sounds.
I had a good, long conversation with the doctor about several things that had been bothering me.  He answered lots of questions and explained some things I wasn't sure of or confused about.

He wanted me to have another ultra-sound and when I went to make the appointment the appointment person told me you have orders for two ultra-sounds.  One order by one doctor and the other by another (different) doctor.
And then he told me problem is on the same thing but different type of test.
One I have to be fasting and the second I have to have a full bladder.  Oh, Happy Days, so now I have an appointment either with a doctor or ultrasound
for five days running. (In September)

If seeing medical people keeps you alive, then I guess I am going to live forever. I am tired and we are going to IHOP for supper with my daughter.  I told my SIL I will drive.  I must have walked for 1/2 mile at least this afternoon. Well, walking is kinda stretching it, I was moving at a slow crawling pace.

Like busses Halkel, you wait for a month for your ultrasound, then two come along together....Halkel, if we dont laugh, we would only cry......Well at least I got my ultra sound out the way, unless they have any other plans, re, my next outing..... Of course I am still awaiting my Urologist app, only 2 & a half more months to go...." oh happy days....."

Oops, I must have shut the oven temp off when I shut off the timer.  There are two loaves of grated carrot/walnut bread baking.  I will put a scoop of sherbet next to a slice with a choice of ice tea or a mixed ice tea of fruits.  This is for the quilt group tonight but you can drop in for a visit.

Just hung up the phone and chatted with a friend who moved to North Carolina.  Everything is ready in the house for the quilters - good lighting a chairs all set the way they like.  It is cool enough so we don't have to run the A/C.

Well, the zzzs that ganged up on me actually chased me to the bedroom.  Or maybe it was the dogs.  I went in there to change my clothes and both dogs followed me and settled on the bed with plenty of room left for me.  So I obliged.  I slept about an hour and I felt much better when I woke up.

I'm going to go watch a National Geographic special on The Grand Canyon.  My Texas daughter will be watching it at the same time and we're going to remember our trip there together with the rest of the girls a couple years ago.

I'm glad you enjoyed the muffins.  I think I'll try a piece of Carol's bread while I watch my show.  Thanks Carol.  Gonna go get my jammies on before the show begins.

Good Night Everyfriend!  God bless us every one!

Hal, I have no idea of what I want another password to be; I know it should be easy, but it isn't for me.

With my second nosebleed last week, my PCP wants me to see an ENT doctor and referred me to one.  He told them it was urgent.  The ENT office called and the first available date was October 17!  Their idea of urgent isn't the same as mine.  I am not sure if my PCP is going to see if he can get it changed or not.

I think that message went to people on my mail contact list so if someone is not on that list, they won't get the message.  I didn't click on the link so I don't know what was said, but if the grammar isn't fairly good, it's not from me!!!

Tom just got home and said there is a large chocolate chip cookie on the counter for me.  Question:  do it eat it tonight?  Or tomorrow morning.

Mary Ann, who's your favorite actor/actress, niece/nephew, what's your doctors office street address?  How about just a series of your favorite numbers.  Could be combinations of dates of births of your favorite family members.

Yep Jackie and Joanie, the keep running these xrays. ultrasounds and MRI's and keep finding more problems.  Wish they would find something that is aok.

I am worm out and going to bed.

Appendix Worry

Old Jacob Johnson, raging hypochondriac, was convinced that the pain on his left side was appendicitis. Mrs Johnson explained that the appendix is on the right.

"So, aha! THAT's why it hurts to much," said Jacob. "My appendix is on the wrong side!"

Food For Thought

The Voice of Family
(By Peder Eide

I love to coach my kids in the sports they play. I have been blessed to coach all my children at different stages and in different sports. It's a treat for me and fills my cup. I love the atmosphere of practice and, of course, game days. Win or lose (though winning is more fun) the amount of life lessons on a game field or court with a group of people called a team are endless.

One thing I have realized is the importance of the sound of my voice. Whether I'm a coach or in the stands when my kids hear my voice, they respond. They play harder, look for me, find new energy, pick up their tempo. The words I shout to them are all affirmation, at least that's what I try to do. Things like "Keep going, move your feet, go hard!" It blesses me when they respond to the voice of their dad.

Did you know how powerful your words are to anyone around you? The thing is that you and I, because of Jesus, carry the Kingdom. When we express words of affirmation and blessing to anyone, we do more than just say something nice. We actually bring a spiritual blessing that is beyond our understanding because of God's Kingdom in us. It's a beautiful way to love someone whether they are easy or hard to love.

Here is an idea for you. Take a sheet of paper and write across the top "I Love (name of someone here) because..." and then write 20-25 reasons why you love that person. Write it for Mom, Dad, a friend, brother, sister, Grandma, etc. Then give it to them in person or via a letter and let God use your words to do what He wants.

It's what family does. The voice of a family member is important.

Good morning Joan ....  love The Voice of Family.

:metoo:  Happy Wednesday, (I'm an echo), Callie.

Jenny, always so nice to see your cheerful face.

Hal, you are one tough cookie, those tests will come back
that you have the body of a 16 year old!

Mary Ann, hope you get to the bottom of those nose bleeds.  Try eating high iron foods to see if it helps.

Lloyd, keeping up with a house is a never ending job, do you have help getting that line in? Big job!

Jackie, every time I see your posts my mind flips to your new home landscape and the difference in MY picture of England (Marlow & High Wycombe).  Glad you are enjoying it.

Janie, chasing those zzzzzzzzzzzs is why I'm up at 3:00 am... and here it is 4:20 & I've been playing on the computer for over an hour~  Son is coming over today to work on some things for me so I gotta either sleep or start cleaning & doing some laundry before he shows up.  I think the cats have turned me into a nocturnal animal, they go out when I go to bed & don't come in until breakfast~ whatever time that is, but during last winter they were in & out all night.  Daytime naps ruin sound night sleeping.  Not sure how we'll solve this problem.

No sign of the sun yet, supposed to have T-storms this afternoon... felt like them yesterday with the humidity & wind but didn't develop here.    Shirley

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I decided what to do with the rest of the red raspberries.  While I was washing some to have for breakfast, it came to me....can them!  So I finished washing all of them and they are resting comfortably on the kitchen counter in their jars.  I think there might be enough for a couple of cobblers when the snow flies.  One is already ordered for Christmas at my daughter Cathy's home.

I have about an hour to relax before I have to get ready to appear behind my counter at WM.  I might just toss a load in the washer before I leave.

I hope you all have a lovely day and that all the dr. reports are good ones and that all the pipes get finished and that you breeze through whatever else in on you agenda for today.  God bless your day!

Good Morning World and Everyone in it!

Well I am up, coffee is on, scrubbed, washed and teeth gleaming and hair all combed.  My ride will be here at 7:15 and off to get a seed planted in my tummy.
One thing I learned yesterday, it is only a series of three shots, this is my second, and they are not pleasant.

Shirley, not sure it will be a sixteen year old, more like a one hundred and sixteen.  I swear as you age doctors can find more things wrong with you than ought to be allowed.  Jackie, I am not sure I would want to be sixteen again.  My growing up years in some cases were not that great.  Some really hard times.

Amy from what you say in some of your post I am assuming you live in Quebec.
I remember one time driving from Ottawa to Montreal to the airport there to pick up someone and it was nighttime and being an old country boy from Texas I had never seen the Northern Lights.  And they did put on a display that night.  I was thinking I was seeing some furnaces on some steel mills I thought were located in that area.

Well coffee ought to be ready and I need to wheel garbage out to curb, so be back later and you folks better have behaved yourself or no treat today.

Good morning, Joan and all the other Friends.

A very pretty sunny morning out my window and temperatures are still in the mid 80's.  However,  humidity and higher temps will be returning over the week end.  As I have mentioned before, I prefer the hot summer over the long, cold winters.  And, I am afraid they are not too far off,   Just hate to think about getting cold.  I know, most of you don't agree with that. LOL

Joan, thanks so much for the apple fritters this morning.  Something that I love, but don't think about much.  I have some apples in the fridge that probably are getting old and they would work good in some fritters.  Will have to think about that some more.  Haven't made any for a very long time.  Not hard to make with some bisquick.

Hope everyone will have a good day.

Good morning, Janie.  Good idea to can those red raspberries for later use.  Hopefully all in your line at WM today will be wearing a smile.

halkel--Good morning.  I am sorry you must have those painful shots.  I'll behave because I want a treat.:)

Good morning, Joy.  Our Publix grocery has delicious apple fritters.

Lloyd--Good morning.  Laying that pipe sure is a BIG job.

I imagine about now Gloria is ready to tear her hair out with no computer.

Hi everyone on this beautiful Wednesday morning.  We will be in the low 90's this afternoon and no rain in the forecast. In a few minutes I have to leave to go for an appointment at the Pacemaker Clinic to have my pacemaker/defibrillator checked.  Pat has another chiropractic appointment at 4 pm.  Scott will be out this afternoon and will be fixing the supper for us, which I am more than ready for a break.

It seemed like I was working in the kitchen all day yesterday.  Of course, that is an not the case but sure seemed like it.  I spent for 10 am until noon at the dentists as he found a cavity under a big filling and had time to fix it while I was there so that is what happened.

I have read all the messages posted since yesterday and am bypassing individual comments for today.

Lloyd, I sure wish that trade was a possibility but by the time I got there with the berries, they'd probably be spoiled and you wouldn't want to trade your good honey for spoiled berries.  But it's a nice thought.

I'm off to get myself ready for work.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

HALKEL.....
.....no I dont suppose you would want to be 16 again, I know I sure wouldn't....( my teens wasn't a good time for me either )  :-X ....but, I wouldn't say no to the body I had when at 21-22 onwards, those were the days I got wolf whistles....now all I would get is some wolf howlers....
.............................
You know when the simple life is enough for you...I was sitting outside my back garden on the wooden log, eating an ice cream cornet, just watching my Benji laying flat on the grass behind me, just a couple of feet away, in the hot sunshine, trying to close his eyes and take in the heat of the day, with not a care in the world.... Only I had all his worry of what is soon to be...then my mind turned to those who do not believe in God, as of R, when I thought how we were all made and born perfect, not all, albeit some with deformities... but the majority...such as eyes to see, a nose to smell, a pair of ears to hear, a pair of legs to walk with, a mouth to put food in, of our choosing, and so on....then my mind turned to us on how we make use of all these " birth " gifts, we can either use them wisely or abuse them....In my mind, how can there not be a God?...

Tisie and Bis, I too was an early bird today. Woke at one a.m. wide awake. I dreamed that Gary called me and said, "Mom notify your bank not to honor your credit card, Susie (my long deceased daughter} is ordering all kinds of things on your account. " Well……that was enough to wake me up, so thoroughly I have not been back to sleep. A dream like that can lead one to thinking…for instance, all my important numbers..like the bank, are loaded on my computer. If the computer failed, I would be up the creek without an oar. Than I thought, "what is my lawyers name ?" So had to go look that up. Got interested in my file drawer and ended up reading my whole living trust….mercy !!!!!!!! What a consoling document that is ! I have nothing to worry my old greying head about, my family is there for me, even if I lose all my senses. Now I am one happy lady, determined to stay alert in spite of little sleep. Today is Gary's turn to teach us a Bible lesson, then he is taking me to get new glasses. Later today I have a date with my doctor downstairs. I hope I am not a zombie by that time.

Hal, I am empathizing with you on all these blasted tests, especially those that are painful. May God grant you strength and patience.

I sure miss my pal Gloria. It must be very frustrating to be computer-less. I don't think I could stand it for very long..I'd have Dan ordering me a new Mac in a big hurry.

Larry, is your son a good cook ? It will be nice to have him spell you for a day. Both my boys cook, Dan especially, he does everything except baking. And Gary is the barbecue expert. I had nothing to do with their talents, I was head chef in my house.

Jackie, I like your meditation while in the garden, and I agree with all you said.

JOAN.....
.......I might not be as religious as some, re, practice what i preach as in going to church on a regular basis but, I do believe in being spiritual, re, seeing the beauty in everything, and knowing fully that grab each special moment, those moments when you feel at most relaxed and calm, that you wish could keep forever as, nothing stays the same, I am fully aware of that...As for R, I feel sad for him, he doesn't see, nor appreciate the beauty in anything, he hasn't got a spiritual bone in his body....

Well, I am back.  I am in a great mood.  The shot was not half as bad as I remember the first one.  It hurt, but only for a brief moment, and then it was over.

So my SIL and myself stopped on the way home at Cracker Barrel and had a bite of breakfast.  June, my Ultrasounds are not painful, just having to go through the procedure is a chore, sometimes.  But thank you for all the kind thoughts.

Jackie, God has been more than generous to me.  Like they say better than I deserve.  I cant even begin to count all my blessings.  Heck, just look at all my good friends here in this group.

Headed to kitchen to get a fresh cup of coffee, anyone want any.  And wife made so raisin cookies last night, I can sneak a couple of those for those that want some.

Had a good day today at WM.  Lines were busy but not too busy to exchange a few words with some nice people as they went through.

Hal, I can't remember the last time I had a raisin cookie.  I stopped putting them in cookies I baked because I had two kids and a husband who didn't like raisins and two other kids who really didn't care and that was loooooong ago.  Mine were oatmeal raisin!  I wonder if I still have the recipe.  No one here but me now and I love raisins....or dried cranberries....or both.

Gonna put my sheets in the dryer and then catch a few zzzzs before I make the bed.  Maybe the dryer buzzer will wake me up.  I don't have to worry about Kiran today because her mother took the day off.  Try not to get into any trouble because I'll be back to check up on all ya'll later!

Good Afternoon,

Whew!  I'd forgotten what having people in and out and 'round about for several days can do to a person's energy level!  (Of course, I'm quite a bit older than I was when that was "normal"!!!!)

Did I mention that Ellen and Bailey (gr-niece) went out last night?  Ellen ended up spending the night!  Loved listening to their chatter (they are the same age and both in The Arts) but finally told them "good night' just before midnight. I have no idea when they finally settled down.

Bailey had to be at her workshop at 9:00 a.m. - but Ellen stayed until almost noon.   Loved catching up with her but then had to revise the game plan for the day.

Instead of doing errands today and baking cookies tomorrow,  I decided to reverse things.   I'm taking cookies for the two college Grands, who we'll see this weekend - so, of course, baked enough to Bailey to eat now and also take home with her.

When I checked the fridge, I noticed a takeout box that Bailey brought home from the pizza place where she and Ellen went last night.  I also realized there probably wasn't enough room for another dish or two or three - so we're having Fridge Fallout tonight and  then we'll have a calm evening.

I've read all the posts and thought about replies - but just didn't get out that Round Tuit and post them.  Mea Culpa.

MaryAnn,  I would have suggested you eat half the big chocolate chip cookie today and the other half tomorrow but then I thought about how hard it would be for me to leave half on the counter - and rethought my advice.

Hal,  you're really being put through the mill with tests.  I think you deserve a whole handful of cookies!!!!
Our Cracker Barrel is at an I-35 exit and has become very inconvenient to get to from town. I miss going there.

Shirley, our cool spell didn't last long - and now we have wet stuff from the Gulf of Mexico coming over - and the weather gurus are even predicting a "low" chance of tornadoes.
Wish the Gulf wet stuff could just skip over the coastal areas and bring us the rain (although not as much as LA and the surrounding areas have had).

Off to be a Recliner Radish for a while.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere has had and is having a lovely day.

What a week so far. Monday allday messing with a printer. Tuesday they cut off the water main in the area. Was without all day. Thought Wednesday would get electrician out at 9am. My fan in the DR  acting up. 8:30am worst storm of the year. Thunder. LIghtning and Boom. All the lights off. Had nothing. Called of the Election until tomorrow.  No Phones as mine need WiFi. Mobile phone.  no time on it and could not charge it up. Notice now if no power I have nothing working.  After 5 hours the power back on. By this time decided to just go and take a nap. Lasted 90 minutes. Feels good now.
Will now try again tomorrow to get things done. First thing. Find a old phone that works of a Jack in the wall. Buy Flashlight.  Keep lots of water around. Technology has taken over. Have desktop. IPad, Tablet, Mobile phone and 3 other phones and could not get out on any of them.
Now know how the people having the floods are feeling. They cant even take a nap

I just woke up (or almost woke up)et from an hour-long nap.  I heard Tom leave and I have an idea where he went.  At least if I need him, I know how to get in touch - phone!

Callie, it turned out there was a big bag of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.  I'm with those who prefer oatmeal raisin cookies.  I liked my mother's recipe and I may try to make some soon.  She boiled the raisins and used the liquid in the cookies.

We had our family luncheon gathering today at the Score but the weather was not nice enough to eat on the sand.  We were outside, but under a cover.  I had cheese/broccoli soup with a salad.  I brought some of my salad home and that is what I'll have for supper.  I'm not hungry yet.

JeanneP, I haven't had an occasion to try an old landline phone to see if that circuit works.  When I went to whatever I have (?!) I think I was told the man was disconnecting the line.  I guess I've been fortunate.  We don't have many storms that have us lose power.

CHUCKLES

Ella Holmes

Sherlock Holmes's sister, Ella, was a bit confused--not that she suffered from dementia or anything--she simply was a bit "blonde." She was always getting her two twins confused, even though they were fraternal, not identical, and everyone else could easily tell Patricia from Theresa.

One day Sherlock's sister invited the great detective and his assistant to a piano recital that Patsy was to give the following evening. When she left, Sherlock's assistant said, rather bewilderedly, to Sherlock, "I didn't know Patsy was studying the piano." To which Holmes replied,

"Ella meant Terry, my dear Watson."

Food For Thought

The Sword of the Spirit

By John Kuperus
Scripture Reading: Ephesians 6:10-20

Take . . . the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:17
In our ongoing battle with the forces of evil, the Lord commands, “Take . . . the sword of the Spirit.” This is the only weapon we are given among all the combat equipment mentioned in this Bible passage. And what is this weapon? “The sword of the Spirit . . . is the word of God.”
Hebrews 4:12 describes it this way: “The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Our enemy hates this weapon. He was repelled by the Word of God as he tempted Jesus in the wilderness (see Matthew 4:1-11).
On the festival of Pentecost, as Peter preached the good news of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit, the sword of the Spirit “cut [people] to the heart,” and they cried out, “What shall we do?” (Acts 2:37). The Word exposed their sin, and Peter explained the solution: “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins” (Acts 2:38). Hell lost its grip on three thousand people that day as they found freedom in Jesus.
God’s Word is the true story of how God loves us at great cost to him. Can you see why it’s so important to spend time in God’s Word and make it part of our daily lives?
Father, thank you for your Word, which is alive and active, and by which we can battle the forces of evil. We treasure your Word and thank you for the life it brings. Amen.j

Thought of the Day

“America prays for God to destroy our enemies.  Our enemies pray for God to destroy us.  Somebody is gonna be disappointed.  Somebody is wasting their !@#$%^* time.  Could it be everyone?”

JOAN, EVERYFRIENDS....
...good morning....Soon be off to our Toby's pet groomers, I shan't be forgetting that today, like I forgot the correct time of 9.30am on the day it should have been last week...
....We are In for another hot day, even though no sign of sun yet, same as yesterday, started off hot and sunny, but then soon turned to grey sky and thunder, no rain, just the odd sign of rain around, thunder is also due today....
....Well so far this morning I am by-passing having a breakfast, I am just about fed up with this constant stomach bloat of mine, and the heavy drooping feeling in my lower stomach, and as if I am holding onto several days of un-emptied toilet, of which I am not.....just something else that is bothering me, as I am sure something going on that just hasn't been picked up on yet...It really is like being 3 or 4 months pregnant....some days are just worse than others.....Stomach bloat does seem to be another trait of MS but, until I get to the bottom of my bleed, I cant rule anything out....

Here it is, nearly 4:00 am & the thunder & lightning got me up to see if any cats wanted in, even Miss Callie went out last night.  I was surprised when she let me know (sat on the outside & watched the garage door come down) 3 times without making an effort to come in.  She is always right about when it will rain or not, but they all have hidey holes & come home dry so not to worry.  Old Lauren came to the bedroom door when she heard me just now but wouldn't come in because Tom & Tiger weren't home.  It is pouring buckets right now (I wanted to check radar to see how long it will be going on, looks like a couple days).  I'm off to sleep some more.   :sleepy:

Mary Ann, I still have 4 of the old "land line" phones that work when power is out... but son tells me they are not really "land lines" since they are tied in with the modem being they are "Cox" digital or something.  They will work as long as the back up battery holds on the modem.  I don't understand a thing I just said, being a parrot of what my son tells me.   :crazy2:

Oops, there you are, Joan.  Good morning.  Thanks for the readings..... especially "The Word"....   :angel2:

Jackie, my tummy is still giving me fits with much the same yucky feeling....  first time in my life I haven't wanted breakfast but force myself to eat & can't decide if I'm better or worse for eating.  I am always amazed at you & Janie getting the pups groomed.... our German Shepherd never needed it & all the dogs I had growing up never saw a groomer.  I'm thinking twice about how much less trouble to let these cats groom themselves!   But, I'd still like a dog, they are better "companions", aren't they?  Maybe an "only" cat would be more company......   Have a good day!
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe Week of August 21

SHIRLEY......
....not all breeds of dogs need to see a groomer but breeds of cocker spaniels do, to keep them looking nice....believe me, their fur grows so quick...
.......Same here  with my stomach, do I eat more then expect to have a clear out, that is what goes through my mind, but just doesn't work for me like that at times....
......Shirley we often here people say that they are a cat person, or a dog person, I am a dog person but, I have had cats.....A sad story of one new born kitten that came into my possession was, my then young daughter " found " a newborn ( still with its eyes unopened, ) in our then high rise rubbish shoot, brought one home to me, I kept it overnight feeding it from a medicine bottle drip feeder, not expecting it to survive, but survive it did...Had this cat for a good year, that was until next door neighbour complained to the Council that I was keeping a cat, cats are not allowed in stories over 1st or 2cd, I was living ten stories up....I then had no choice but put the cat up for re-homing, called in a cat rescue lady, sad to see him go....The Irony of this story was that these kittens made local newspaper news, and it stated that they were later put down, Of course I wanted to cry out that not all, I have the only surviving kitten, but I couldn't, I had to stay quiet If I wanted to keep it.....
.......I still remember the day man from the council office came into my flat, I hid cat in the spare bedroom, then while in mid conversation, in walks the cat, our cover was blown.....of course I tried to ignore the cat, hoping he hadn't seen it...no luck.... ;D

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for a bit...have laundry in the washer and will be doing a bit of ironing later.  I don't iron much any more but the things I wear to work and church need to be neat.

Shirley, my doggies are Scottish Terriers and they have a distinct cut.  Right now they are way past needing grooming but something had to wait.  I had expensive car repairs and I spent the property tax money that I had saved up to pay the car repairs and now I'm scrimping and saving to get the tax money together.  The doggies will have to wait another couple of weeks.  They don't seem to mind and both stand still for me to cut some of the matted hair away.

Dryer buzzed so i'll go take care of that and then put what's in the washer into the dryer and another load in the washer.  Another chore that was sidelined for the urgent need to take care of the available fresh veggies.  And I'll need to get myself cleaned up and dressed soon because I'm pretty sure the fellow who cuts my grass will be here sometime today.  He has a way of texting from McDonald's and saying, "I can come right now if it's OK."  McD. is about 5 minutes away.

Keep doing whatever it is you're doing right now.  I'll be back!

Vanilla-Jackie.  Good morning.  Bet Toby will be handsome after his grooming.  Sorry about your stomach problem.

Good morning, Shirley.  Your cats sure keep you busy with their in and out routine.  I have the same type of land line phones you do.

Amy--Good morning.  Safe travel as you go for your husband's CT scan.  Hopefully you won't have to wait long to get the results.  Enjoy your time with daughter-in-love.

Good morning, Janie.  You sure are a busy bee early today.  Hope your yard man does come after your scurrying around to get dressed.:)

Back indoors for one hour, it is a half hour journey to groomers, and what with the half hour home, leaves us an hour ....We took our Benji with us, I mentioned a groom on the phone last week, and wanted to take him along to see for herself what I mean by a tidy up, not the full groom and shampoo, anyway she said bring him back with us when we go to collect our Toby, will be leaving again in 25 minutes....I need Tobys back end trimmed for when our vet needs to do his next anal gland monitoring in five days time....Groomer is allowing Benji 30 minutes, we will of course stay there while he is being tidied up, I will be inquisitive to see what she charges us, I am hoping she has time before her next doggy appointment to also trim his spurs along his legs, and maybe his ears....

We are back, journey was less traffic, we done it in 20-25 mins, 10-15 minutes less than our first journey.....Groomer has spruced up our Benji, trimmed his backside, trimmed his spurs, and done a bit of a tidy up on his ears but never touched the ear fur underneath, coming out from his neck but basically as I was the one holding Benji on her table, she did ask me what I needed her to do, and at the end when it came to paying, she said she didn't want anything for doing our Benji, she wasn't going to charge.....We both insisted she took some money, what we had both agreed on in the car coming, well I came up with what I considered a reasonable figure, just under half the full price of 42%....she seemed more than pleased with our offer, and it was finally accepted, just took a bit of persuading....

Vanilla-Jackie--That was generous of the groomer to say she wouldn't charge for doing Benji, but it was also kind of you to give her 1/2 the normal charge for grooming.

Shirley, when I had Xfinity installed (so I could see the programs in High Density), the man disconnected my land lines so if I lose power, I am without phones - except I have my TracFone that I keep in my purse and I charge it occasionally so I can use it.  I use it mostly when Tom takes me somewhere and returns home, then I call him when I'm finished and he comes after me.  I haven't had to test the landline since the HD was put in so I really don't know.

My "only cat" isn't a lot of company but in a way, he is.  He is not cuddly but walks by, marking his territory on my legs and he likes to be in the same room as I am in.  He checks on me if I am on or in my bed, but he doesn't stay.

If anyone is interested in the pier at Grand Haven, the Corps of Engineers is going to remove the catwalk over the next several weeks, starting from the lighthouse at the end of the pier.  When the catwalk is down, they will work on the pier itself, then restore the catwalk.  I don't know if people will be allowed on the catwalk when it is finished, so I am glad I had the chance when I was quite young.

After a couple of days with low 80's and low humidity and open windows, the humidity is back and that means I need the a/c back running again...  at least if I like breathing.   ;)

Yesterday my friend and I went food shopping.  This was my first real outing with the "portable" oxygen and I wanted to see how much time I would have on the small tank.  We were out about an hour and a half, plenty of time still left on the oxygen but it just about did me in.  Just about all I could manage was to put away the freezer and refrigerator stuff and then I just collapsed on the couch for the rest of the afternoon.  Glad I did it yesterday, when the humidity and temps were both pretty low.

Jeanne Lee--Are you using liquid oxygen?  Grocery shopping is very tiring.

halkel, Vanilla-Jackie and Janie--I guess several of us are wondering about Molly.  I hope she is OK.

Hi everyone.  It is headed up to 93 for a short time this afternoon but now at noon isn't too bad..  I don't think it reached 90 at all yesterday, which was nice.

Scott did fix us a delicious dinner last night and we enjoyed his visit. He rolled the Windows 10 Updates back on his mother's laptop and it is now working again.  He also turned off the automatic updating of any future updates on our three computers running Windows 10.

I picked up my friend at his retirement home and we went to coffee for an hour.  After I returned him home I stopped at Walmart, which is very nearby, for a prescription and a several items.  I rode the electric cart today.  Not taking the ACE Inhibitor apparently is reducing the amount of blood getting through my heart and it has sapped my energy and think it is affecting my thinking a little bit.  Pat has her third Chiropractic treatment of the week today at 4 pm.  There was no Wisdom group at the church this week as the minister was out of town.

I did get a good report on the check of my pacemaker/defibrillator yesterday and no adjustments were needed.  She said I had between 3 and 3 1/2 years left on my battery before the device will have to be replaced.

I am having a quick bite to eat for lunch and looking forward to my afternoon rest. I am going ahead and posting and later today I will review the postings (I read all of them that were there as about 7 am this morning) and post again if I see anything I feel led to comment on.

Larry--Smart to use the cart when you have no energy.  That is sure nice when Scott fixes dinner  for you and Pat.  Glad you got a good report when you had your pacemaker/defibrillator checked.

Hello all, sorry I am late. Had several delays after nine beautiful hours of sleep. Gary came by with two cartons of Ensure that Dr. ordered, he got them at Cosco, 20 dollars a carton. I had my first bottle and it was tasty...quite sweet, but I enjoy sweets. Dr. didn't like that I dropped more pounds..down to 106...lowest my my whole adult life.

Now I am going downstairs for a special chinese dinner. I truly enjoy chinese food so I want to be sure I get a seat. Will be back later. June

Joan, my oxygen is from a large, noisy, electric concentrator.  I'm hooked, in the house, to that with a long tube - I say I have a 2 mile tail.  ;)  There are four back-up tanks that will run without electricity for at least 5 hours each, and can be re-filled if necessary.  I also have what is called a "gaseous portable" that is supposed to run 2 to 3 hours, depending I guess on my activity and need, and they are also re-fillable.  I have three of these - though as heavy as they are, how they can be called "portable" is beyond me.   :P  But at least it does give me a chance to get out of the house now and then - like to the grocery store or a doctor's appointment...   ::)

Good late afternoon, we have been having some beautiful weather, but that will change to morrow.  Again in the 90's

i am not writing much, because I am very tired, but a good tired.  We had our soth Annivercery luncheon, well attended (55) It was a lot of fun had a hat  and dress contest.  We were to come dressed as someone for Down Town Abby.

going to relax and watch some TV.  Not the news I said relax!

June--I order my Equate from Walmart.  It is identical to Ensure.  I only like the chocolate.  I order it by the case so shipping is free, and it costs less than Ensure.  Enjoy your Chinese meal.

Jeanne Lee--I don't have a concentrator.  I have a large tank of liquid oxygen that my tubing hooks to.   No electricity involved.  If I want to go out I am a small lightweight Helio take along that I fill from the big tank.  It lasts about 6 hours and is very light weight.

Linedancer--Your luncheon sounds like fun.  Now you can spend time relaxing.

Bis, I get 24 8 oz. bottles for twenty dollars. I don't know if we have a Walmart in Stanton or Fullerton, but Gary has a membership at Costco, and he said they are just down the street from our apartments. I will give him the info you gave me, and let him do as he likes. Thank you for the info. It may be my imagination, or it may be the wonderful sleep I had last night, but that one bottle of Ensure sure gave a day filled with energy. I got so many things done with less shortness of breath. I am SO content this evening.

Gloria de, It makes me feel so happy knowing you had such a fun day. Good going girl !!   :)

Our chinese dinner was just so=so but it was a fun group of ladies, and one gentleman. Our activity director was all dolled up in a chinese outfit, and I think she had as much fun as the rest of us. Afterwards I went to the balance and mobility class, then got some prescriptions renewed downstairs, so all in all it has been a great day for me.

Now the yawns are starting, so I think I will stir up some kind of light supper and just relax. I plan to be back to say the normal goodnights. June

Hello from another raining as usual Interior! Farrah is doing well, and I have read all the posts while installing my new Dell laptop. The only available monitors were too small and too expensive, so I went with a new laptop instead. I will order a monitor online from Amazon later. That is if Prime allows. If it is a company affiliated with Amazon, not allowing Prime, I will purchase locally.

Everyone have a good night and Jeanne, I am so glad that Joan is here and available to help you and also June with supplements. Thank you, Joan as well!

Good Friday morning, Everyfriend.   There's a crockpot breakfast to accompany your coffee or tea. Make it a good day!!

CHUCKLES

Large Truck

A large truck was tailing my son as he drove through town with a female classmate. The truck matched them turn for turn, down every street.

My son's concern grew to alarm when the menacing-looking driver pulled next to him at a light, leaned out his window, and glared into his car. After a long, hard stare, the man grinned and called to my son, "Sorry, kid, I thought that was my daughter."

Food For Thought

BRING YOUR UMBRELLA
(by Steve Goodier)

One summer, a drought threatened the crop in a small town. On a hot and dry Sunday, the village parson told his congregation, "There isn't anything that will save us except to pray for rain. Go home, pray, believe, and come back next Sunday ready to thank God for sending rain."

The people did as they were told and returned to church the following Sunday. But as soon as the parson saw them, he was furious.

"We can't worship today. You do not yet believe," he said.

"But," they protested, "we prayed, and we do believe."

"Believe?" he responded. "Then where are your umbrellas?"

The story applies to all of us. There are those people who leave their umbrellas at home. Throughout their lives, they are merely hoping their wishes and prayers will bear fruit, but they expect little.

Others expect their God-given dreams and desires to come to pass. It is as if they journey through life always prepared for something to happen.

Today, how will you approach that which you are yearning for? Will you expect answers to your prayers and work to bring about hoped-for results? Will you bring your umbrella?

Thought of the Day

“If you live long enough, you’ll make mistakes.  But if you learn from them, you’ll be a better person.  It’s how you handle adversity, not how it affects you.  The main thing is never quit, never quit, never quit.”

Good morning everyone.

Seems my body didn't want anymore sleep and I have been up since 4..I can see a nap coming later today. Yesterday went well, hubby got in and out of his appointed time.....pays to go early sometimes .We were both glad to get home with our dogs. Dr phoned last evening and they now want a ultra sound  done, this is never ending it seems. I will phone the Dr at 9:30 to see what time /day they have set up.my luck it will be Mon when I am taking a friend to her cardio appointment. Cross that bridge when we get to it.

Taking the day as it comes here, nothing planned  other that waltz with the mop and some sewing.

Sure wish Gloria was back up and running...I believe they owe her a brand new computer this time!!

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I think if I were Gloria, I'd have someone take me there (preferably a policeman in uniform or a heavyweight boxer and I'd camp in the office of the company president until they gave me a new computer.  She certainly has suffered with that one!

I slept better last night than I have in a month!  I don't know what it was but I hope it sticks around a while!

It's already 73º here and it's going up into the high 80s today.  Our little band of nice weather seems to be over.  The only things on my agenda today are my 4 hours behind the counter at WM and shortening a pair of curtains.  I have to do the curtains by hand because my machine isn't working and I've returned my daughter's machine.  But they are all pinned ready to go.  The hard part will be threading needles!  But I did find my needle threader the other day!

Joanie, that quote by Clinton is similar to what my mother used to tell us.  I remember one particular incident when one of my friends had done something that hurt me and my mother said, "There will be people in your life who will hurt you and how you react to that will tell who and what YOU are.  You can try to hurt them back and lose a friend or you can let it pass and keep your friend!"  I never forgot that!  And I'm still friends with that person and until today, I never thought of the hurt.

Have a lovely day, Everyfriend.  Make it work for you!

Good Friday morning.....JOAN, AND EVERYFRINDS...

As usual, not much planned coming from my end.....

Well I took a fall an hour ago, around 10.45am...R out doing his shop, dogs ignored me, never even came to investigate, Oh alright then, I will make Benjis excuse as he is now rather hard of hearing....

I decided to shampoo my hair over the bath and not as I now do whilst in the shower, as I dont shower every day....Now I have fathomed out a " nerve " link that runs from my neck when I tilt my head, which is some strange way connected to my top of bad leg, I noticed this quite some time ago but only had it recently confirmed from an MS team leader over the phone a few months ago...That's another thing, she recommended I phone my GP and ask for a referral to go see a musculoskeletal therapist, I phoned that through to GP receptionist, never heard nothing back since anyway...this fall....i was using the showerhead and trying to keep my head as straight as I can, when all of a sudden my eyes closed as if I was passing out, and down I went, I was thinking as I was gong down, I am going to bang my head on something and knock myself out.....Thank heavens the bathroom door was wide open, which was right behind me, so basically my body fell through onto the hall carpet....I never hurt myself, just picked myself back up, then carefully carried on with my hair but...I am well aware that things could have been so different....I could see into the living room, Toby perched with his head onto the arm of the sofa just looking at me, cant imagine what was going through his mind....just that now I know he would be no good in an emergency...

Oh, Jackie!  Thank goodness you didn't have any injuries from that fall. It could have been so serious!  The thought of falling. since I'm alone in the house. is the main reason I've invested in a life alert type system that includes fall detection.  I know it will work well - I've set it off by accident in the middle of the night...  three times!   ::)

Janie--Good morning.  If I were Gloria I would have done something drastic by now.  Glad you slept so well and hope everyone is smiling today at WM.  I like what your mother told you.

Good morning Vanilla-Jackie.  I am very glad you didn't get seriously hurt when you fell.

But I think I am going to put on my mud boots on and dive in and try to get it finished up today if the weather lets me. the sun peeked out for a short while and is now hiding its face. have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful clear morning and we are headed to 93 degrees this afternoon.  The only thing on the schedule today is to take Pat for a mammogram at the hospital this morning.  The hospital is now providing a free car parking service at the door of the hospital.  There is also no charge for parking.  The housekeeper will also be here this morning and the yard was taken care of yesterday.  So we will be in good shape.

Yesterday turned out to be an another exhausting day and by the time I finished shopping at Walmart, even riding the cart, I was done in.  Fortunately we had an easy supper with homemade chicken noodle soup from the meat and broth left over from  over from fixing the chicken in the crock pot a couple of days ago.

I did come back and read the messages last evening but was just too weary to try to post and someone had already comments on what I would have commented on.

June, my son is a good cook.  He has many capabilities and that is one of them.  His wife was so ill for so long and he did most of the cooking.

Mary Ann, while I like raisins I always prefer chocolate chips to them.  However, I won't refuse either type of cookie.  :)

JaneS, Hal and Jackie, I have Molly's email address and I just dropped her a short note inquiring about her health and to let her know she is being missed.

June, it is a part of my breakfast each day to drink a nutritional drink (I use the Equate Chocolate from Walmart) and I also have a nutritional bar that I buy at COSTCO.  I usually add some fruit to the breakfast and find it all very satiating.  Hope you enjoyed your Chinese dinner lat evening. The nutritional drinks surely can only benefit us.

Amy, it sounds like your husband's doctor is leaving no stone unturned in trying to provide good care for him.

Jackie, sorry about your fall but glad you didn't get hurt.  Could you have a grab bar installed where you could hold on to it when you wash your hair that way?  I am a firm believer in having them where we need them in the bathroom.

Jeanne, sure glad you have that life alert system that detect a fall.

Lloyd, hope you are able to finish with the water line.  Mud is something we just don't seem to have here as the ground is a mixture of sand and clay.  At least that is the way around my house.

deAngel, did a lot of the ladies come dressed as someone from Downton Abbey?

Joan, I see we agree on the Equate chocolate nutritional drink.  I tried the vanilla but didn't care for it.

JeanneP, I hadn't seen your posting about Molly's posting when I sent her the email.  At least she will know we are missing her as we do any of our folks who we see post almost daily here.

Good morning, Lloyd.  I wish you could send some of that rain our way.  It rained here this morning for 5 min.--not enough to even wet the pavement.

Larry--Good morning.  Great idea to use that broth to make another meal of chicken noodle soup.  It seems I've been buying that chocolate Equate for years.  Ray had to have it for several years before he passed away.

Good Morning, It appears I did not get back in last night…sounds like something I would do…forgetting seems to come easier all the time.

My regular housekeeper is not here today, so  I have a substitute..a nice girl, of course. They only hire nice people here. She has changed my bed linen, and will be back at 9 a.m. to do the rest of the the deep cleaning,so by then I will have eaten, dressed, and get out of her way. I take a book down to the common room on the third floor and get cozy and read.

So I had best get off the computer and eat some breakfast, dress, and be on my merry way. See u later. June

Many thanks to Friends thinking about me and wondering about my absence for some time.  Thanks, LARRY, for your email, which I just read and answered.  It's just been a really BUSY time keeping with Mohamed's issues in Egypt (some a it frightening like the recent car swipe on the highway which he experienced while returning from his family home), getting ready to order his books for the forthcoming University semester for his students, meeting with his University colleagues to determine who will be asked to teach which classes and welcoming a long-time friend from the USA, who is visiting for a month from the USA to celebrate a family wedding this week.

And at the other part of the World, I'm also staying in touch with my son, who is current stationed at a Military base in South Korea and getting to know his fellow Officers and soldiers.

And in my own World, the time has been taken up by keeping track of my medical appointments - next one this afternoon RE my continued INTENSE head pains - encouraging the one fellow who is mowing our huge lawn while his usual partner is on a 3 week vacation.  The lawn looks beautiful and I continue to encourage the one fellow to stop a couple of minutes periodically to drink, drink, drink the water I hand him.  Then occasionally I tour it on his head (after he has removed his cap and dark glasses.

So never fear, I'm still reading the Posts and enjoying them.  I send beat wishes to all Friends here and hope you enjoy whatever you are doing!

Good Morning Everyone!

Busy, busy morning. wife got in to see dentist, working her in, to see about a tooth that she thinks is infected.  She isn't back yet.

I had to pickup our cleaning lady this morning and rush back so I could make an appointment for my PT and believe it or not I was way early for my PT apmt and the PT person took me in and I was leaving at the time I was suppose to have started.  But he is increasing my workout and believe me I can feel it.

We are out to dinner early evening with a group from church.  So that ought to be very enjoyable.

Molly, smiling, it is great to see your post and know that you are okay.  I hope they can find the cause of the headaches.  I know exactly how they can be.  I had cluster migraines for years and tried everything.  Only thing that ever worked was a shot in the rear that just knocked me out.  One doctor told me that as I grew older I would cease to have them (I surmised from harding of the arteries) and he was right.  They did finally go away in my late fifties.

Jackie, that is scary, passing out like you did.  You need to take some kind of precautions and talk to your doctor about the problem.

Larry, our weather here really feels like it is in a transition from summer to fall, even though it is still "almost" summer temps.  Big thunderheads roaming around this morning.  Jack and Tisie could get some great pictures of the clouds. Big, high, very white and did I say big........and they, the weather gurus say 50 percent chance of boomers this weekend.

Joanie I hope you day is going well.  As usual you are taking excellent care of us.

Janie, hope you have a nice quite peaceful weekend.  Not sure what ours will be like.

Lloyd, hope you got the water line finished.

JOAN....
...can we do the same for Gloria?...I know she would be here if she could....GLORIAAA....

HALKEL....
...I have little faith in doctors, or rather my doctor....she is the one who recently said..." you are not losing weight, nor is your bleed getting any worse..." I had to agree but what I should have said was....our dog Benji has actually put ON some weight but, he HAS cancer, and wont be with us very long.......I say, " never judge a book by its cover...."

As for seeing my doctor, I am assuming this fall was to do with my MS, she, (doctor ) is not experienced in MS, and of course at present I dont have an MS team,.....my complaint is in process, and I said, whatever the outcome I dont wish to continue with them...I have lost all trust.....re, MS Specialist Nurse not turning up for my home appointment, nor contacting me to tell me......MS Specialist Nurse not receiving my email, re, to contact MS Consultant on my behalf, re, written medical mistakes on my letter, that took 2 weeks, once I had told her, she admitted she hadn't even seen the email......the mix up with an MS Specialist Nurse appointment that some " unknown " person had supposedly cancelled, but never had the decency to tell me.....so a wasted journey for an appointment that went to someone else, although I had the confirmation appointment letter as proof in my hands.....Oh and not forgetting my new female doctor forgetting to put in my urinary bleed hospital referral, putting me back seven weeks...

Home from work, it was slow today and they made the day creep along.  I'm really tired so I think I'll go collect some zzzs.  There isn't anything urgent hollering for attention.  The only thing that needs doing is shortening my curtains and they're dark blue.  I don't think my eyes are up to it right now.  I don't even feel like eating any lunch.  I'll check you all out later.

Sure glad MOLLY showed up!  We might have had to send in the Marines!

...so you have already, " road tested..." your alert system? I have had some strange dreams but, never the ambulance - medics crew dashing to a false alarm into my bedroom...must have been real scary, and not once but...three times.... :o

Janie--It seems time drags when things at any work place are slow.

Vanilla-Jackie--I really pushed the button that last time I had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night, and the EMTs etc. were at the door in about three minutes.  That whole experience WAS a nightmare.

Back from a visit at our daughter's house.  Our SIL and g-son are planning to hike up a 14er tomorrow morning - they start at 10,000 elevation and hike - unless - clouds gather or thunder.  Then, we hope they descend rather quickly.  Snow is at the tops right now so that is a concern as well.

We had a nice visit - my breakfast today was quinoa cooked quickly with raisins and nuts.  I came home and ate the last piece of a refrigerated chocolate cake - needed that sugar for energy  :coolsmiley:

Best wishes to all who are not feeling well.

Molly:  Why didn't you just hose the fellow?  Just kidding - he sounds like a winner of a helper for you.  When you write about the driving in Egypt, it sounds almost lawless.  We watched drivers in Paris trying to park and wish that it was recorded - they force a car in a space by ramming the back of one and then doing the same to the car in back.  Dents all over.

Hello Everyfriend!  I did find some missing zzzs on the sofa.  Took a nice nap and woke feeling refreshed.  I have chicken and sweet potatoes in the oven for supper tonight and a couple more meals to freeze or maybe just put in the fridge for the next couple days.  I'll open a jar of corn left from last year to go with it.  And a raspberry muffin for dessert.  Leftovers will be in the Hidey Hole.

I wonder if Gloria has learned to walk on the ceiling yet?  If it were me, I'd certainly be climbing the walls by now and the ceiling would be next!

I'm going to go watch TV until supper is ready and the dogs start bugging me for theirs.  Enjoy the rest of your day.

Jackie, be careful!

A good Friday morning HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

Busy week again.  Seems the days just fly by!  Yesterday my life long friend was here and we had quite the time together.  We had breakfast out, did a lot of shopping.  That was fun for me as I never get to shop with another lady, and we sure had a good time.  She stayed and Bob and I took her out to dinner.  She was in town to see her surgeon for a checkup after her surgery.  She is doing quite well.

Last night we were to go to one of our outdoor concerts, the last one of the season, and Patti was going to go with us.  Unfortunately it rain ed most of the afternoon, so we decided against it.  Funny enough it cleared up and it was a beautiful evening.  A bit cool, so still best we did not go.

JACKIE, I am sorry to read about your fall....sure glad you were not hurt.  It sure could have been a different story.  Too bad R was not there....but then....maybe he would have reacted the same way the doggies did!  At least if he were there you could have yelled out.  Good the dog grooming went well and the lady was also able to clean Toby up too.

Opps, just saw that I never finished this.....

Hope everyone's day is a good one.

We are off to meet Mark's lady friends parents for the first time.

Jenny

Carol--How nice you can go to your daughter's for a meal.  Good luck to your SIL and grandson.  I never was a climber.

Janie--I'll check the "hidey hole" for leftovers.  Thank you.

Jenny--How nice you've spent time with your life long friend.  I saw a picture of you two on FB--lovely ladies.  Oh my meeting Mark's lady friends parents for the first time must make you a bit uneasy.

Jeanne P. I think Costco is a place where you have a membership. I'm not at all sure how it works, but I am just thankful my Gary is so willing to help me out in so many areas of my life.
I truly am blessed with good sons, and all you wonderful friends.

I just had a wonderful surprise visit from my Dori girl. She brought me a beautiful bouquet of red roses and yellow sunflowers. She is SO loving and kind. We talked and talked, and reminisced and I had to shed a few tears as we talked of days past...happy tears for sure. Then she had to scoot home to make chili for Gary's supper. I am SO blessed.

Hal, what does your physical therapy consist of ? Is it a manual type of treatment or do you have to do actual physical movements. I'm curious, as I have never been subjected to that.

Jackie, I am amazed at hearing of the neglect you are receiving from your doctors. Is there any place you can contact to complain ? Lawyers are not inexpensive, but sometimes it is worth the cost to get some decent, respectable results.

Bis, that is the same time I decided to take my Ensure…I was late today as my substitute housekeeper goofed me up and ruined my morning. She said she would be back at 9a.m. and didn't return till after lunch. She is fairly new, but she did do a good job. I had no big plans for today anyway.

Janie, dear friend, please don't neglect your health. You must eat whether you have an appetite or not. I too never feel actually hungry, but I have an excuse…I am really retired, where you are still young and have a job

Bis, I well remember your last siege at the hospital, when Joe came out ad stayed at your place while you were so very seriously ill. My brother was put on a ventilator at one point in his life, and I well recall visiting him and seeing how close he was to be being gone. So I knew right away how seriously ill you were. I remember when you didn't show up on the computer, I dialed your home phone and Joe answered and told me what happened and where you were. He was so kind to put up with this person he didn't know and yet was willing to give me information on your being hospitalized. I will never forget his kindness.

June, don't laugh at me.  Right now it consist of five minutes on a stationary bike, then to the parallel bars and with on foot in front of the other I have to balance myself without holding on to the bars for 20 seconds five time and then switch feet and do the same.  The walk in place for about 30 seconds.  Then kick sideways for five times with each leg. Doesn't sound like much, and wouldn't be for someone in normal condition.  But I aint.  Oh, forgot, I have to sit in a chair raise myself up without using anything but leg power, five times.  No other muscles are allowed.
Just legs.  try it.

Good night, all, I've been busy all day with nothing to show for my labors.  I had a few minutes more than 7 hours sleep last night & think that is just too much for me.  Not going to blabber on tonight, hope all's well in Every Friend's world.  God Bless all.  Shirley

Hal, I would never laugh at you.I do various exercises downstairs.....always seated...and have been doing it twice a week for 7 months now. I still cannot rise from a sitting position without using my hands to help me rise. Most everything they have us do is from a seated position and it is called a  balance and mobility class. My balance is way off. I tried your foot in front of the other, and when I changed feet I almost toppled over. Fortunately my big recliner was right in front of me so I could grab it if necessary. So I understand completely that what should be easy, no longer is. Don't give up the practice though !!! I did find that standing tall and looking straight ahead helped in changing position.

It seems like this has been a 48 hour day so I am going to bid you all a very, very good night, with Love, hugs and prayers as always, June

HALKEL.....
....you done well, dont think I could have managed all that when I was fit, let alone with medical illness that you are dealing with...and of course nor would i be able to do that myself now....the only exercise I can do and that feels so good is, standing straight with my arms up high in the air, stretching my whole body up, can just about manage to stretch on tiptoe, and if I put my hands low on my tummy by pulling my tummy in and up, that feels so so good...but I would have to make sure I do this standing on soft carpet, not concrete...

JUNEDRABEK.....
....It is going through a formal complaints procedure, I now have the written letter but....in all honesty, I haven't a clue how or what I would like to be the outcome of it all, just that when asked that question over the phone from the lady who was jotting everything down what I wanted, ie, would I want to keep my MS team, I told her a definite NO, told her I have no trust in them now, she said she fully understood....On the letter it is giving me a date that I should hear from, seems otherwise there is no need for me to do anything other than wait.....

JENNY....
...you are probably right about R not reacting to my fall, if you remember the very nasty fall I had a year or so ago, ( before my MS diagnoses ) the fall I had outside my kitchen backdoor, falling on concrete, catching my head on the large terracotta flowerpot, with me shaking, and calling out to him, I had to call three or four times with every time I called him, my call being louder, he too shouted out WHAT, and with his each WHAT also being louder, while completely ignoring all my shouts while sitting comfortably in a chair....He isn't much different now Jenny....
Jenny please say a HELLO to Patti from me, and wish her all the best on her latest procedures recovery....

CHUCKLES

Exercises with Your Dog/Puppy

You've seen those ads on TV promising amazing results from all sorts of contraptions. Well, there's no need to invest in fancy equipment. If you have (or can borrow) a dog, you have everything you need to get in shape now!!! The following exercises can be done anywhere, anytime.

Upper Body Strength: Lift the dog - off the couch, off the bed, out of the flower bed. Repeat, repeat, repeat. As the dog ages, this exercise is reversed onto the couch, onto the bed, into the car and so on.

Balance and Coordination, Exercise 1: Remove your puppy from unsuitable tight places. If they're too small for him, they're certainly too small for you. Do it anyway!

Balance and Coordination, Exercise 2: Practice not falling when your dog bounds across the full length of the room, sails through the air, and slams both front paws into your chest.

Balance and Coordination, Exercise 3: (for use with multiple dogs) Remove all dogs from lap and answer the phone before it stops ringing.

Upper Arms: Throw the ball. Throw the squeaky toy. Throw the Frisbee. Repeat until nauseous.

Upper Arms: (alternate) Tug the rope. Tug the pull toy. Tug the sock. Repeat until your shoulder is dislocated or the dog gives up (we all know which comes first).

Hand Coordination: Remove foreign object from dog's locked jaw. This exercise is especially popular with puppy owners. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
Remember, this is a timed exercise. Movements must be quick and precise (think concert pianist) to prevent trips to the vet, which only offer the minimal exercise benefit of jaw firming clenches.

Calves: After the dog has worn out the rest of your body, hang a circular toy on your ankle and let the dog tug while you tug back. WARNING: This is feasible only for those with strong bones and small dogs.

Food For Thought

The Road Trip
(by Madge Blanton)

Some of the best conversations my husband and I have are on long road trips. Although we've flown a time or two, we truly enjoy driving. It's a great time for sharing thoughts that we hadn't made time for in our busy schedule. As we drive away from the familiar and head towards a new or seldom traveled direction there's something cleansing that takes place. Temporarily, we shed all the things that usually distract us from having quality time and delve into each others thoughts for a time of bonding. Of course, however, there are always children in the backseat!

Fortunately, our children have become accustomed to long road trips. My husband's parents moved to Michigan a few years ago and since then we have made the three hour trip dozens of times. Habitually though, there are still those same words that come from the backseat haunting us like the plague, "Are we there yet??"

One of my girlfriends spent a lot of her childhood family vacation time in the car. She remembers sitting in the backseat always so concerned about where they were going, while her sister sat contently playing. When they played together, her sister would get perturbed because like a mile marker my friend would ritually interrupt their playing to consciously take in a visual note of where they were. I'm sure for her parents it made the miles seem much longer than they actually were. I can only imagine how many times she asked "the question."

As much as I love a long road trip and the anticipation of the unexpected, I often find myself being like a child in the backseat of God's minivan. Although I love to journey with Him and He's never forgotten me at a rest stop, I still inevitably find myself whining like a two-year old, "Are we almost there? Where are we going?" Fortunately, the Bible tells us in Isaiah 55:8 that God's thoughts are not our thoughts. I am most certain if they were that God would be thinking, "For Pete's sake, just keep quiet and enjoy the ride!" As a child of God, I foolishly spend much of my time on the journey worrying about the distance between points A and B. I forget that He's the navigator, and my responsibility is to trust His leading and obey Him. Besides, He's already told me time and time again where we are ultimately going. Like a child waiting in anticipation of seeing Disney World, I should have the same anticipation of what God's "magical kingdom" will be like.

"Lord, please forgive me for wasting my time worrying. Forgive me for impulsively wanting to do Your job and lead the way. Please help me to have the faith to follow as You lead the way. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I have a day off today.  There is nothing that I HAVE to do but I'm going to get started on shortening my curtains.  I have two panels to do and I have to hem them by hand since my sewing machine has taken a vacation and I finally returned my daughter's machine.  No big deal!  We used to do all our hems by hand until someone designed a machine that could do that.  My grandmother never trusted the machine to do it right and she never gave way.  So....back to basics!

June, FYI...After I rested, I ate a decent dinner and I have three more in the fridge to eat when I'm too tired to think about what to eat.  I also took a small meat loaf out of the freezer and stuck it in the oven with the other things to use for sandwiches so I'm all set.  Today I'm going to boil some eggs and put them in the red beets for pickled eggs and they are good to have for breakfast.  I'll be all set!

I hope you all have a great day full of the love of friends and family.

Good morning, Amy.  It's to be hot and muggy today here, too.  The lady I hire to do my big grocery shopping will be here about 9 a.m. so that'll be taken care of.

Janie--Good morning.   I sure remember all the hand hemming I did before I got my great Viking sewing machine.  Sometimes I am sorry I left that behind in Arkansas.  Enjoy your day off.

I had a Pfaff sewing machine that could do almost anything except hang the curtains when they were finished.  I gave it to my daughter when it looked like she had inherited the skills that my mother and grandmother had.  That's the one I borrowed back to do Cathy's curtains.  I've returned it to her with a new carry case for which she was very grateful.  I have a Brother that I bought at WM to do things like hems and mending but it's decided to go on strike.  I called the repair shop but they want $40. just to walk in the door with it.  Since I have other places for the money, I'm going to do the curtains by hand.  And that will have to be done in front of the window in daylight hours.  So I better get moving!

Enjoy your day!

Good Morning Everyone!

Thank you all for the encouragement on the exercises.

I do believe that today is a good day for a birthday and I do believe that Lloyd is celebrating his.  Soooooooooo Lloyd HAPPY BIRTHDAY, I hope you have a good one and you get to to take the day off and eat ice cream and cake every hour on the hour
...... :D    :hb2: :hb3: :hb2:

Nothing much suppose to happen here today, and I am wondering if I can find a college game of football on that I want to watch.  I think it started last night, the season that is.

It felt very humid when I opened the door to let Lady out to do her business.  But I haven't ventured out, fixing to, to see if paper showed up this morning.  a
whole story within itself.

Jackie I am surprised they haven't offered you some PT for your mobility.  Will they assign you to another team since your bad experience with the last?

Amy see you have a quite day planned, well except usual shopping.  I am kinda surprised at your complaining about humidity.  I don't remember it being too humid in Ottawa.  Remember on year that it rained every weekend.  Strange, Monday through Friday prettiest weather you could want, Friday would cloud up and start raining all the way to Sunday.  Well actually it was the summer months not the whole year.

Janie, know you will do an excellent job on those curtains.

Joanie, you no longer sew?  What kind of hobbies do you have?  Other than riding herd on this rowdy bunch.

Coffee's done, who wants a cup?

Hi everyone on a warm and soon to be hot Saturday here in South Carolina.  We will be up in the mid-90's again today with no predicted rain.

Yesterday was basically a day of rest for me.  I did take Pat to her appointment yesterday and she got a very good report with no indicated problems.  She suggested we stop and have a good lunch and then I wouldn't need to cook last evening.  Believe me I jumped at that offer.  We stopped at Ruby Tuesday's.  While she is still having pain when moving she obviously is feeling some better although still needs the walker or a cane to get around. I did not end the day exhausted as I had been for several days.

This morning I will take to the church some fabric that Pat has cut out for the pillows the women of the church are making for cancer patients. They had a large group of women show up for this event last year and it was on a Wednesday.  They are expecting a larger group today and they assemble a large number of small pillows in a couple of hours time.  From the church I think I will see if any of the guys have come to coffee and if so join them for awhile.  I will put together a salad to go with some food we have already in the refrigerator and that will be our dinner tonight.  So certainly not a hard day.

Molly, nice of you to see that your yard men have plenty to drink.  I notice all the workmen around here have water coolers and ice chests available to them.  On occasion I have offered water to some of the workmen but they have refused saying they were fine.

Hal, sure hope your wife's tooth wasn't infected.  Glad your PT is going well for you and enjoyed your description of the regimen they have you follow.

JeanneP, I pay $14.86 plus tax for 16 bottles of Equate.  I will have to check out the nutrition drinks at COSTCO.  I liked the little video on the bird.

Jackie, certainly not a good situation when you have no confidence in your doctor.  As far as I know we have good doctor's here and also had them for many years with the HMO we had for health insurance.

JaneS, when I was working I always preferred a lot of work to very little to do in a day.  However, since I have retired I don't mind having little to do as long as I have accomplished something for the day.

Carol, I don't see how anyone can hike starting t 10,000 elevation.  The last time we were in Colorado we drove up to the 12,000 foot elevation above Estes Park and went into the visitor center.  My heart didn't like that at all and we had to immediately come back down from that height.  However, I expect your SIL and grandson are used to such heights.

Jenny, nice that you had time to visit and shop with your good friend but too bad you had to pass up the evening concert.

June, you are right in you have to buy and annual membership at COSTCO.  We have found their products to be first rate and the prices reasonable although you do buy in pretty large quantities of some items.  You get a rebate once a year based on how much you have purchased.  Very nice of Dori to bring you the flowers.  She obviously loves you a lot as I expect about everyone who knows you does (including me).  I consider you and our other folks here as dear friends.

As I look across the street I see they got the windows installed in the new house yesterday and they are over there working today.  They are certainly not wasting any time.  I expect they will install the siding outside next week and begin to put in the sheet rock.  It has been interesting to watch as I can see it from my office window whereas the other two house next to me I could see only when I was on my porch or driving by in the car although could hear the workmen.

Lloyd, Happy Birthday.  I hope you catch a lot of fish.

Hal, I didn't realize that the college football season had started.  I will have to check the schedule in the paper.  I watched just a few minutes of the Carolina pro pre-season game last night but am really not interested in pre-season.

Bis, what a perfect Thought of the Day. I have found that so true in my life time. Some people love greatly, but they don't know how, or are not able to express it. And usually they are the ones that need our love the most. And our understanding.

Janie, I am happy to know that you feed yourself well balanced meals. You do so much every day of your life…helping others, canning, cooking, baking, taking care of two darling dogs, plus extended visits from family and friends. It all make good eating a necessity. And we here all need you and depend on your daily visits.

Bis, I am SO glad you have a woman that does your shopping for you. I never liked that chore, and Ed loved it so he many times took over that job. I miss my sewing machine too,but I would have no place to put it,plus I would have trouble threading the needle. Do you remember a former Sr. Netter named Gert ? That dear girl sent me my first set of self-threading needles. I had never heard of them before, and they are all I use now..if we a bit of difficulty as my fingers are not as agile. Gerts husband was named Berge and they made a darling couple. They lived in Neponsit, N.Y. I miss her, she was a fun contributor.

Hal, I have had two cups of coffee and a half a sweet roll, and I'm full. But thanks for the offer. We are having a nice cloudy morning but the sun will be out by noon. Our high will be around 80 and I can live with that.

Larry, what a fine friend you are. Thank you for your kind message. Dori does love me, plus she tells me I am her best friend. I feel SO blessed by God for all the loving people He has put in my life. I look forward to the reunions we will experience in Heaven.

LLoyd, I wish you a very Happy Birthday friend, and a health-filled year to come, with no more head bumps in your life time. It sounds like you are going to have a perfect day out fishing…Good Luck !!!!! :hb2:

Hello Everyfriend!  I've had two visitors...my daughter Cathy who became concerned when I didn't respond to her text messages.  I never received them. And my son who installed a new water filter in my fridge and moved the fridge out so I could clean under it.  At first I thought there was another dog under there and then realized it was just "hair of the dog".  I wonder how often people move the fridge out to clean?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LLOYD!  I HOPE YOU'RE HAVING A FISH FRY FOR SUPPER!
[/color]

SELF THREADING NEEDLES? WHY HASN'T ANYONE EVER TOLD ME ABOUT THESE THINGS?  DON'T THEY KNOW I CAN'T SEE?  WHAT'S WRONG WITH EVERYONE?  DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING MYSELF?(;)

Lloyd, I don't oil my sewing machines ever since oil ran out of one and stained a white pillowcase I was hemming.

Larry, I'm familiar with that feeling of accomplishment and I'm content with it most of the time but lots of customers make the time go faster when I'm behind the counter at WM.

Hal, keep up the good work.  I'm here to tell you that PT WORKS!  When I had my knee surgery, I went to PT as soon as I could and when they wanted to give me shots in my back for stenosis and bulging discs, I opted for PT instead and I'm sticking to the regimin that I brought home with me.  Go for the Gold!!

By the way, the curtains are hemmed and up and because no one ever told me about self threading needles, the hardest part was threading the "dash blasted needles".  It' took me a good half hour to thread 3 needles!

June--Yes I do remember Gert and Berge.  Sadly they have both passed away.

Sandy--Thanks for the link to the cams.

Janie--Good for you getting the curtains hemmed.  I've used those self-threading needles for years.  Sorry I neglected to tell you about them.

Hi Angelface.

 :hb2: :hb3:  Happy Birthday, Lloyd!    :hb3: :hb2:

Nothing like a few days at the Lake... Truman Lake is where I go in MO, Corp of Engineer campground called Long Shoal... between Warsaw & Clinton.

Busy day here..... & still need to make a trip to the store.  JaneS, I think my new sewing machine came with a packet of self threading needles.... haha, but I still don't know how they work.  Expecting to have more time to play with it during winter.

Good morning, Patricia, mid afternoon here (I am reading late).....

Good afternoon Shirley, it is 1:43 here.

On an interesting note,

"Virtually every film in modern memory ends with some variation of the same disclaimer: “This is a work of fiction. Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events, is purely coincidental.” The cut-and-paste legal rider must be the most boring thing in every movie that features it. Who knew its origins were so lurid?
For that bit of boilerplate, we can indirectly thank none other than Grigori Rasputin, the famously hard-to-assassinate Russian mystic and intimate of the last, doomed Romanovs. It all started when an exiled Russian prince sued MGM in 1933 over the studio’s Rasputin biopic, claiming that the American production did not accurately depict Rasputin’s murder. And the prince ought to have known, having murdered him."

Okay, someone educated a dumb old Texas boy and tell me how "self" threading needles work.  The have little arms and hands and tiny little fingers that will fit through the eye of a needle........ :uglystupid2:

Shirley--Take a few minutes and you'll figure out how those needles work.

angelface--Thanks for the link.

halkel--Correct.:) :)

Janie, don't rush out and buy a bunch of the self threading needles. Even those these work, and I still have fairly good eyesight, it is not as if the thread jumps up and threads itself. From what I can see, there is a minute slice taken from the top of the needle and you have to hold the thread tight to pull it into that slice I wrap the thread around my left index finger grasp the needle tightly with my left hand fingers then with my right hand holding the thread tight I pull it down into that slice where it goes into the eye of the needle. This sounds difficult, and it is, but it is the only way I can thread a needle now.

Bis, I'm glad you verified how I feel about the self-threading.

Hal, would that it were that simple.

I had the tastiest lunch today..hot turkey sandwich with mash. potatoes and gravy, a nice big green salad, juice, coffee and cherry cobbler. I brought half of the huge sandwich home for supper. along with the dessert. At 6:30 we are having a hymn sing along with our Chaplain leading us..he has a great voice. I am only familiar with a few of the hymns, they use different music than we use in the Episcopal church, but he is easy to follow.

We had another beautiful day here in Stanton, nice cool cloudy mornings and warm sunny afternoons. My kind of weather, but rainy days are still my favorite.

Haha, Joan, that would mean I need to take them out of the package first!   :uglystupid2:   This has been the worst summer in memory (& memory is slightly askew this year, too), with the humidity + heat, an RV that has been non-stop phone calls to remedy the lack of quality control + human screw ups (not mine this time!) and lots of family goings on.  I'm all for running away from home but still need that d**n refrigerator door put back on in the RV~.  Next week end all will be here for Baby Kate's Baptism..... this time I am not cooking.  The others really do their share, we just eat all the time.   :eat:

June, my long time friend here sings in the choir, Espiscopal church & was talking about learning new songs all the time ... so I made the comment that, "Unless they sing the old songs, I don't join in, they can just entertain me".   It surprised her that I felt like that, but I think a lot of people like to sing the old songs they knew growing up.   I am another that loves a rainy day.... and will find any excuse to get out in it!

Patricia, I've been a history nut about the Russian Revolution since my 3rd grade history teacher told about being at the palace and seeing the blood stains where the royal family was shot.  I did high school & college term papers on Rasputin (I did my husband's papers in college).  It was interesting when the young Anastasia was supposed to have survived... and always will wonder if the DNA was switched to show she did not have a claim to the Russian money.  Wasn't until years later when my brother was doing our genealogy line & showed we had the same grandfather as Queen Elizabeth (11 grandfathers back), that the anemia many of our family has is a mild form of what the little czar had.... I found the line showing all the royals in different countries that had to deal with it over all the centuries.  Life is interesting... not enough years to do everything.    I'll post & go check your link.  Thanks!

Time for that Sat night shower but think I'll spray for mosquitoes & check the river... looked like it is up when I drove across the bridge earlier today.  WE didn't get that much rain but think it poured "up river".

Shirley.  Now when D and A came in and the bones of the Russian Royal family were found buried in the Forest in Russia. Then the Used the D and A from Philip. Queen Elizabeth s Husband to prove that they were the family. He is a true relative to them.  I hadn't heard of Elizabeth being of that side. I know that they are back in the German Royals  Even prior to Victoria marrying Prince Albert the German.  I am Proud of the Royals but what a mix up they are. Surprising that some of lived to a long age. All so interbred.
We could not even marry 3rd cousins but some Royals were almost step Sisters and brother. Same fathers or Same mothers.  History is so interesting though.

Tisie, I'm back from the Hymn singing. It was fun. I knew most of the songs this time and a couple of them I just quietly followed along with the music and the others that sang loudly. Our Chaplain gave a brief outline of the various writers, and that made it extra interesting.

I have had my dessert that I passed up
earlier, cherry cobbler with a bit of ice cream and some coffee. I'll probably stay awake half the the night, but my old friend will phone me to make sure I get to church on time.

Janie, Sweet dreams and I am so glad you had a good day. You earn your right , for sure.

So, it is time to get ready for bed, after I write my check for Church, and I will be reading till sleep over comes. God Bless my friends, sleep peacefully and wake joyfully. I love you all. June
