Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

halkel--Good morning.  Hope you get in and out of the vampire's place quickly.  We had a couple rains yesterday (each about 30 min.) with gusting wind. No more rain since, but the wind is still gusting.

Good morning!  Just waiting on Hermine to get here later today.  Dark and cloudy right now but no rain and no wind.  Glad you are doing OK down there, Joan.  Looks like the worst of it came ashore west and north of you.

Thanks, Shirley.  I'll just wait and see what the cardiologist has to say after I go through whatever tests he/she wants to do.  So far, I haven't heard from them setting an appointment.  My internist prescribed a low dose of Metaprolol and that has helped calm things down a lot.  Tom used to take that for high BP.  I don't have that problem but apparently it is good for other things, too.  Early diagnosis indicates SVT (supraventricular tachycardia).  Finally got a very good sleep last night so feel much better today.

Jane, Kiran is a little girl with a big heart to offer her apology to you.  And she has learned a very valuable lesson....we can't always have everything we want.

Good morning, Phyllis.  Yes, north Florida had lots of damage. I hope you don't have to wait one hundred forevers to get an appointment with the cardiologist.  I take metaprolol twice a day for a-fib.

Since I posted last evening I will just do a quick check in today.  At least it is going to be nice day temperature wise only getting up to 76 degrees.

I went for my ultrasound test but had goofed and ate breakfast so they had to reschedule it for 2 pm this afternoon.  We are getting the rain from the Tropical Storm and have already had over 1 inch.  It is suppose to be heavier this afternoon with more wind.  Of all the days to goof up this wasn't the one but I won't melt and need to have the test today as will see the doctor who ordered it on Tuesday.

Pat is showing some signs of beginning to get better.  The chiropractor re-evaluated her yesterday and was very satisfied with the progress she has made although she is still having the muscle spasm but perhaps less often.

Jackie, you mention dozing in your computer chair.  Is there danger of your falling out of the chair while asleep?

Gloria, as I am now reading back through the messages I see you have an iPhone so the link I posted should work well or you will find others for the iPhone by searching bluetooth keyboard for iPhone (whatever version you have).  You probably could get one at Staples but expect they would want a much higher price for it.

Shirley, I bet your son won't mind putting it together as it is something he can do for his mother.

Joan, I liked the Chuckle for today.

Hal, I have always questioned why the weather people, especially in hurricanes, think they need to stand out.  I feel the same way about reporters standing along side the road where some accident happened long after the situation has been resolved and the cars moved away.

JoanFL

Larry--Oops!!  Guess they forgot to tell you fasting was required for the ultrasound.  We've had storms several times this morning, but each one only lasts about 15 min.  It does remain very windy however.  Glad Pat is doing better.

Amy:  Sorry you are losing a quilt shop.  Loons and quilts - you have quite a combination.

June:  Glad you are feeling better about everything.

Radioman:  January should be nice in Israel.  Have some Blood Oranges!  They are terrific.

Phyllis:  Loved your message.

Almond Biscotti is baked - it takes an extra step so the timer has to be set twice - nice to have a desk in my kitchen.

I search many electronic problems and look at Youtube as well. Don is my go-to guy in the house.

JoanFL

Lloyd--Of course we missed you.  We thought you were very busy with the water line etc.  Amy said it well. Glad you liked the hospital food.  Will you have to use the oxygen 24/7?

Carol--Yummy--almond biscotti.

I'm here, but I'm weary. time to lay down and rest, I guess. keep well dear hearts. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Carol, this quilt shop was run by a lady that is now in a nursing home.. Her daughter is selling off the fabric at 80% off and I think tomorrow is the last day. I bought a bit and it worked out to less that $3.00 a metre!! Nice Northcott fabric too!!

Lloyd, now that you will be in the hospital you will have more time to post to us  we shall be expecting to hear form you too!

Just finished up trying to tidy my sewing table....seems to be a never ending job!.

Lloyd--You don't want to go home until they are sure you are ready.  You said the food was good--so enjoy that, use your computer, watch TV and rest.  The nose piece hurt me, too, at first, but once it gets settled you hardly realize it's there.

Hi Janie and Amy.

June--I hope you can get rested.

The nose piece isn't what bothers me the most.  For me, it's where the canula tube goes over and behind my ears and adds to the pressure from my glasses and my hearing aids.  And when my "tail" gets a little snagged on something the first thing is pressure on my ears.  :(

well  looks like I am in for another learning curve. It is very certain that i am going home today with machines and tanks.
the fellow just was here to see me and left a tank on wheels for me to go home with and said he would be by the house
with several more tanks and a machine to use in the house that would have a adapter to hook up to my by pap machine.
that is good i am homesick.
Home sweet home.

Lloyd

Amy

Lloyd, glad to hear your going home BUT that doesn't let you off from not posting in here.....we want to see you posting in here!!

I know you are glad to be going home, Lloyd, even if the hospital food is good.  Take care of yourself and do what the doctors tell you to do and don't go out on those big machines that you like to play with.  Rest and eat good home cooked food.

The storm is not bothering us much but is giving the NC coast some trouble.  Right now here inland we have a nice gentle rain...just like we really needed...and hardly any wind.  Hope the storm moves on by tomorrow so I can get to the grocery store otherwise we might starve.   :o

Winter before last when I was in the hospital for emergency surgery, I couldn't vouch for or against the food.  They never fed me!  All I got was a lot of liquid in my arm and then they took it all out through a hose in the nose.  I did have a cup of coffee the last day I was there and some crachers and broth.  Not much you can do to ruin crackers and broth.

Enjoy the food, Lloyd!  At least they're feeding you.

well i sure are aware of what you are saying  Jennie. i will be back and let you all know what is happening.

When my then-5-year-old son had to have his appendix removed, he said they fed him "chicken flavored hot water" at the hospital.

Lloyd,  so sorry you're having more health issues.  Please "behave yourself" and do as you're told.  We want you around for a long time to come.

Shirley

I'm on the run but want to warn Lloyd that they are not kidding about being careful with that "rat poison" in you to dissolve the blood clot.... Tell Nancy I hope she doesn't let you peel potatoes or do anything until that stuff gets through your system.... you can bleed internally if you fall or cut yourself!  I don't know anything about oxygen but looks like you can get plenty of advice in here if you need it over the holidays.  You were missed but like the others, figured you were busy with all the jobs you have lined up.  Take care!

Phyllis, I don't know anything about that medicine, when I need to "take the edge off" I just take a 325mg of Bayer or Bufferin.  Works as a blood thinner for me.

Joan, I guess my A-fib was fixed with the valve surgery.  When commercials talk about some pill they are selling they always say "not for A-fib cause by heart valve".

Got a big pot of spaghetti sauce cooked in case I need to feed the army.  Baby Kate's Baptism is Sunday so will be a lot of people gathered (not at my house!!!)  We have a church picnic on Labor Day, catered & always   lots of good food plus a "petting zoo" and the blow up play houses for kids.  Huge tents for shade & at the end, they get the fire department to come "spray" from the tallest ladder so kids & parents can play under if they want.  They have baskets of chalk for kids to write on the sidewalks & parking lot plus baskets of other toys and bubbles....  It is a new parish but lots of people, I'll take a camera.

Larry, hope the ultrasound finds nothing wrong.... know it is necessary to see how some of the meds works.  Extra prayers that you & Pat have a better tomorrow.

Hal, I've had that conversation with my kids about money & they insist they had a great life.... and I feel the same way about growing up during WWII.  Love was thick enough to hide any lack of money.

June Drabek

I decided I am home for the day. I have changed into leisure clothing and just laying down and reading. My cleaning girl was in early to give me fresh linen and change the bed, then she came back this afternoon and cleaned my bathroom. She told me I keep a very clean bathroom. Force of habit, I guess. We had so much out of town company, year after year, with just one bathroom it was essential to keep it nice and clean.

I have nothing of interest to report.

Lloyd I do hope you will be able to go home today. I agree, there is no place like home.

Time to go lay down again and just enjoy my books. June

Stopping in to say hello......I'm sorry to hear so many are having health problems.

Phyllis -  I also have supraventicular tachycardia and have taken metaprolol for several years. There are two types of tachycardia and I was told that this one is not life threatening. I have a friend who has been in the hospital a couple of times with the other one. (Can't remember the name). With my first episode, my heart rate went up to 200. Very scary! (edit) Just Googled it. The other one is ventricular tachycardia.)

Lloyd - This is a good place to come when you need cheering up.  :) Hope the meds take care of the blood clot. The oxygen may also make you feel better.

We've had a bit of an ordeal today. My husband had three teeth extracted (after taking halcion as prescribed). I wish he'd gone to an oral surgeon as they had problems with the extractions. Something about the bones in his upper jaw. He was in the dentist chair for more than two hours. Right now he's sitting in his recliner sleeping. He's not even distracted by noises!

Except for some wind and a lot of rain Hurricane Hermine missed us. There were several tornado warnings last night.

Jane S. - I've enjoyed reading about your canning. I used to do a lot of it but gave up when I didn't have a garden anymore. My granddaughter in Vermont just canned dilly beans and pickled beets. She's the one who canned the fiddleheads last spring. Also, I was very touched by your granddaughter's apology. So sweet! I have a 9 yr. old g-granddaughter.

Joan - Hope you at least got some rain out of this storm.

halkel

Well Lloyd just like you, we leave you alone for a little while and you get yourself in trouble.  And it seems the hospital cant make up their mind if they want to keep you or send you home.

Take care of yourself and let us know how you are progressing.

Well my youngest came by along with her husband, they had been to the doctors to get a checkup on her operation.  He pronounced her doing well and didn't need to see her until her six week checkup.

We took them to dinner and they left directly to Del Rio.  I fear they had to fight bad weather all the way.  We have had heavy rain here this afternoon.  And we almost had a very bad accident coming home from lunch.  Some idiot took a turn into the road we were on while we were setting there waiting for traffic to clear and he lost it on the wet road and stopped just short of a headon collision.
Wife was driving and in her new car.  It was close.

Anyhow, it appears the rain is here for the weekend.
