June Drabek

Good Monday Morning dear friends,

I am surprised to find myself in here by nine o'clock. I woke at six, did all the usual readings and a hymn, then on to the body exercises and massage of legs and feet…my hands are growing very strong since they work so hard for me now. I was introduced to a doctor recently and shook his hand, and he commented that I had a good strong grip. So beware of greeting June Drabek….she's fierce.

Janie, I think dreams are very interesting. I read once upon a time that we need to dream to release our concerns and worries. I used to dream every single night, but rarely remember a dream now, darn, enjoyed analyzing those dreams I had.

Hal, I am on my second cup of coffee now. Had a sweet roll and a bowl of fresh fruit for breakfast. mid morning I will have my bottle of ensure..that gives me needed energy.

Bis,thanks for the news on Gloria. I think they should have sent her a brand new computer that works. That is what she paid for, not a repaired one.

Don, I am going to Photos as soon as I finish here. Thank you for the heads up.

Larry, I read years back from a statement by a fellow Christian, name of Watchman Nee, the following. "Humility is not so much looking down on ones self as it is not looking at Self at all." I like that.

Time to get my bed made, dressed in "walking" clothes, and go take a stroll outside. see you all later. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good morning!

I am hesitant to say this, but I do not think another new computer will help Gloria. I went through that with a lemon of a Gateway.

Each time they send a new computer, it is calibrated to the original one sent. So if you have an original error in the hard drive, each one they send you will also have that mistake.

They are not going to send you a newly redone computer, but one calibrated exactly as the original.

Dreams.....I had the best dream through last night I have ever had.....I hugged my late mother.....I spotted my mother walking with another lady, the place was outside somewhere and quite crowded, I walked up an escalator, moving stairs and called out mom, she never heard, carried on walking and talking to a lady who was with her....I called out to people..." stop that lady, she is my mom, and I haven't seen her for a long time..." she must of heard, then I hugged her and told her I hadn't seen her for a long time...think she just said.." I know "....think I also asked who the other lady was, asking if she was a a family member, only to be told, no she is a friend....Mom was easily recognisable as my mother, but she was dressing slightly more elegant and oozed more confidence, didn't seem the timid quiet mom I knew, but she was my mom and looked like my mom....

I lost my mother must be 38 - 39 years ago...my mother was 61, I was 26 -27....

June--I think they should send Gloria a brand new computer, too.

Angelface--I agree with you.

Vanilla-Jackie--That was a good dream.  I can't ever remember my dreams.

Radioman Don:  When will you plan on seeing Bubble?  She looks so upbeat and writes the same way.  I wish you the best.

I am trying to use up a lot of my fabric stash and putting a binding (edge) on a flannel quilt.  Don is at the VA for an appointment and tomorrow I will have to drive him there - we detest the heavy traffic that is everywhere now.

Oh, one more thing that happened this week.  Some women walked topless in Denver - to protest there is no gender equality.

There is nothing more I can write.  It is beyond my thought process - my family is full of women making terrific salaries and great jobs - I don't know how going topless will change anything - it just makes me wonder about the guys watching the parade.  And, the parade was held in the tourist area that is always in the news for criminal activity.

Carol--What in the world is wrong with those women?

Hi Sandy.  I hope you like your new phone.

Janie--I think the answer is "absolutely no good".

Hal, all this fabric helps insulate our home.......well that is my story and I am sticking to it   :)  The lady that had the quilt shop in town is now in a nursing home and her daughter is selling it all off..now the push is on to have it all gone by the long weekend here.

Carol, does one ever catch up on using their stash???

I'm tired. This has been a long day. Gary arranged with my clinic that I see the audiologist that will be here tomorrow. I went down today to have my B.P. taken, since my ears were both blocking up, where my voice would echo back to me....very, very annoying to say the least. It is not a constant problem but on and off for several years now. Thinking it may be just another side issue of my irregular B.P. I had it taken..it was fine. So that all developed between the clinic and Gary, that I would see this specialist tomorrow. Gary plans to be here and handle everything, but there is no definite appt. time. So I sit and ponder about what a dumb blob I have turned into. Believe me, I am ever grateful to have a son that cares so much for me that he takes up his valuable time from his Church, but I do feel like a useless blob. Gary does SO much for me. He has always been a good son, from the day he was born. Whew.......I am over whelmed.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Carol I plan on flying to Bubble in January for four months. Actually, I had planned to go this past January, but my heart attack put an end to that.

halkel

June, believe me when I say you are not useless.  We loves you kid.

JaneS

Also, June, you are NOT dumb!  I sometimes wonder aloud if I'm dumb and my daughter hastens to tell me that compared to many of the old folks she calls on, I'm NOT dumb.  And my son still trusts me to cart his daughter around and look after her needs.  So, while technology still dumfounds me sometimes, I guess my brain is still working.

I'm only picking Kiran up at the bus stop 2 days a week (the two days that I don't work at WM).  Hopefully, that will make me less tired and less short with her and we can enjoy one another's company.  We're going through the books and toys that she has at my house and we have a give-away pile and a save-them pile.  I have to make another trip through the give-aways to make sure nothing special goes.  Then I'll take them to a young mother at work who has a three year old daughter who LOVES books.

I'm off to Dreamland!  I wish you all a peaceful night and may God bless us, Every One!

June - I don't post here often but love reading your messages. I think you're an amazing lady. You can be proud you raised such a devoted son as Gary. He's doing what he wants to do! When my hearing problem started it sounded like my head was in a pail of water.  ???

Frazzled Cashier

I was checking out at the busy super market, and the cashier was having problems. The register ran out of paper, the scanner malfunctioned, and finally the cashier spilled a handful of coins. When she totaled my order, it came to exactly $22.

Trying to soothe her nerves, I said, "That's a nice round figure."

Still frazzled, she glared at me and said, "You're no bean pole yourself."

Food For Thought

Christians in a Hostile World

By John Kuperus
Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 2:9-12

Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
1 Peter 2:12
In the first century A.D. there were many persecutions of Christiansâ€"and persecution has continued to follow believers in Christ at many times and in many places ever since. Today we still hear of persecution, especially in societies where it is seen as unacceptable or even illegal to confess your faith in Jesus Christ.
The apostle Peter wrote a letter to persecuted believers in the Roman Empire around A.D. 60-64, and these words still ring true for us today: “Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”
Christians march to a different beat than do people who do not follow Christ. In the first century, Christians confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord, not Caesar. Husbands treated their wives with dignity, respect, and faithfulness. Baby girls were not abandoned (as was the Roman custom), and Christians took in abandoned babies as their own. When epidemics struck, believers stayed in the cities to help care for their own families and others, at the risk of their own lives. God was glorified. Believers made God look good, and the world noticed.
The world needs this testimony today as well. Does your behavior make God look good?
Father, we want to reflect you in all we do. Thank you for sending your Son into this sin-broken world to give us life. Use our lives to continue to reflect your heart. Amen.

Good Morning Everyfriend and a special Good Morning to you Joanie.  I got awake and couldn't go back to sleep so I'm up and attem a little early this morning.

My only plan so far for the day is to be behind the counter at WM by 9 a.m.  Other than that, I'll just see what transpires.

The temp. was 68º when I got up and it's only supposed to get up to 80 today.  I checked ahead and summer isn't over yet.  This time next week we'll be back into the 90s.  In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy the break.

Have a good day, Everyfriend.

Good Tuesday, almost mid day here.....

I am awaiting dog food delivery, I have a tracker that show me exactly where the driver is, what number customer he is at, what number customer I am, tracker also tells me how long or soon, in time, delivery driver should be in reaching me, driver has often turned up sooner or somewhere in the middle of my delivery time slot.....Must be terrible for these drivers knowing their every move is being monitored by their customers, as I can see on the map just where driver is at...

Today is Benji vet monitoring day, we have 2 & a half hours before appointment, I will need to leave a note on the door incase dogfood delivery comes when we are out, letting him know where to leave it.......R is out doing a shop for himself, then he will take dogs for their walk, a tad later than usual...Oh R has just walked in the front door.....

Other than this nothing else on my today's agenda....just as well really as my body is still not up to much, re, my right ribcage and back, not forgetting my walking, its as if nerves are doing a dance in my top of leg...

I just have to put in my thoughts, June.  I sometimes feel the way that you do when the modern world seems to overwhelm me.  Everyone "out there" thinks too fast, moves and talks too fast, and all of this technology comes along that I just can't seem to figure out sometimes.  I feel dumb and left behind.  But you and I (all of us of comparable age) are definitely NOT dumb.  What we are is experienced and wise.  We've seen a lot in our lifetime and dealt with all of it and survived.  For many years we have raised families and made decisions and lived decent lives just doing the best we can.  Now, at this stage it is all right to let our children help us.  It's their turn to take care of us when we need help and even though they lead busy lives you know that they do it lovingly.  And, all of us here have come to know what a valuable human being you are and we love you.

Good morning, Janie.  Here it did go down to 79° last night, which is the first time in a LONG time it got below 80°.  Hopefully everyone at WM today will be wearing a smile.

Good Morning  from the sunny and warm,
rocky coast of Maine.

I spent most of yesterday getting my phone set up...
Actually,  getting everything but the phone set up,
as the phone part I will get started after the first of
the month.

But using Wifi,  I can use just about everything
phone and text.

The camera is going to be great once I
get the hang of how to use it!

Here is a picture of the Orchids that I wintered over
this year.     (This is the second time that they bloomed)

Good Morning Everyone!

PHYLLIS, yesterday was a prime day to illustrate of what you spoke of.  I came back from PT and was informed that the kitchen sink was stopped up on the disposal side of the sink.  Wife had put a bag of old salad makings down it.  It shouldn't have stopped it up, but it did.  I got the plunger out and I couldn't move it.  Told the wife I would call Steve, my son-in-law, who lives close by.  Upset my wife cause seems to be prone to stopped up sinks.  Steve came right away and within two minutes had it clear and running.  It is enough to make you feel useless not being able to unstop a sink and dumb for causing the stoppage to begin with.

But we will make it up to them with a nice dinner when we go out to eat in the near future.  Like you said, we have made thousands of decisions, nursed many
bruises and sicknesses.  And guess what, we are still learning from each other and our young folk.

Boy, that is a lot of words to just say "I agree".

Sandy, beautiful picture and flowers.  Takes sharp pictures.

Who wants coffee, it's ready.  See I can still turn to pot on.... ;D

Good Morning,

Phyllis,  I completely agree with you.   Well said!!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  It looks like it will be a nice day and not quite as hot, although will be in the low 90's this afternoon.  We had just a brief sprinkle yesterday afternoon at the time I took Pat for her chiropractic appointment.  Of course, it all dried up completely.

Yesterday really got to me and by evening I was really tired.  Then when I started to make dinner I discovered that when Pat had moved her hummingbird feeder over from the island in the kitchen to the sink some remaining sugar water had spilled out on the floor.  What a mess and by the time I got that cleaned up I had to put dinner off for awhile so I could recover from all the bending over.  For some reason bending over really gets to me.  I went to bed shortly after dinner and had 10 hours of sleep and rest and feel refreshed to begin the new day.

Today I plan a quieter day.  I have a 10:15 appointment with my cardiologist as a followup to changing the medicine.  Of course with the mix-up with the mail order pharmacy I haven't been taking the medicine for the last 9 days.  On the way back home I will go by Aldi's for some vegetables and fruit and a couple of other things we need.  Then we plan on going to lunch at Ruby Tuesday's.  We got another of the buy one and get one free coupons that is good only today but you have to dine in.  I am not sure Pat is going to feel up to going out to eat so I may have to  cook after all. I already fixed her scrambled eggs with bacon bits, green onion and cheese breakfast.

Phyllis, I checked and it is cheaper to have Pat's inhaler prescription filled by the mail order pharmacy than at Walmart, where we get most of our prescriptions filled.  She has only been using the inhaler for a couple of months. So far our insurance covers some of the cost.

Joan, these huge increases on medicines already being marketed is highway robbery and when they find they can get away with it I am sure more huge increases will be on the way.

Jackie, nice dream and glad it was pleasant for your.

Amy, I just told Pat your story about your fabric insulating your house and she had a good laugh and agrees with you.

June, I am sure your son is happy to be able to help you when he can and as much as he can.  As Hal said we love you and you contribute a lot to these discussions.

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--It's nice when deliveries arrive as promised.

Good morning, Sandy.  Beautiful orchids.

halkel--Good morning. Some days things just don't go right.  Lucky you to have a SIL nearby who can fix things.  I'll have some of that coffee.

Good morning, Callie.  I hope you have a lovely day.

Larry--Good morning.  That hummingbird mixture sure is sticky.  Guess your cardiologist won't be able to make an accurate assessment since you haven't had the new medicine for the last 9 days.  I'm fearful that these huge increases in the cost of prescriptions will make me have to decide whether to buy them or buy food.

To those who feel inadequate at times (and I am one of them) - I had a friend whose greatest talent was making friends.  There wasn't a person she didn't like - or who didn't like her.  I used to help her with her income tax and she would tell me, "you're so smart, you know how to use a computer".  I'd tell her that we all have talents and hers was making friends.  I wished and wish I had that ability.  Different talents!

My friend passed away in 2012 and I still miss her.  We knew each other from the time we were four years old.
