Good Morning Everyone!

I see the three J's are up and about.  I too got my lawn done yesterday and afterwards the Good Lord saw fit to send down a quick downpour of about 15 minutes and then shut it off.  Looking out this morning patio is damp so maybe we got a shower sometime during the night.

Jackie, ditto on Janies comment.  Remember this old world isn't our (or Benji's) home, we are just passing through.  Enjoy what God has provided.  And I know you will.

PT this morning.  Sometimes I think it is helping and other times I am not so sure.  I got a phone call yesterday to schedule another ultra sound.  That makes three, but the one consolation is that after this one I will see the doctor to go over it.  One thing about it, my innards are not secret anymore.  I just wonder what the doctors are going to want to do.

Joanie, you gonna by yourself a pretty while you are out.  I am happy to hear you are finally getting some rain.  Looks like the old Gulf is finally decided to make a few waves, pun intended.

Coffee is ready........

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  Another clear sky this morning but it was already 80 degrees when I got to the kitchen this morning.  So it will be another hot day.

My doctor's appointment yesterday went well.  She took me off of the diuretic (Lasik) I had been taking and told me I needed to limit my fluid intake to no less than 32 or more than 64 ounces a day.  Since I have always consumed a lot of liquid each day this will require a retraining process for me.  She gave me a different statin drug until I can finally get the Entresto approved by Blue Cross & Blue Shield.  She wants me to get my blood pressure up to a minimum of 65 as she feels the diastolic is just too low.  I will see her again in two months.

I plan a light day today with our only time away from the house the chiropractic appointment for Pat late this afternoon.  Scott will be with us this evening and will help get the dinner ready. I have several tasks to do here in my office this morning.  My regular morning chores are completed except to fix Pat's breakfast when she gets up and that is easy this morning as just have to pop the sausage muffins in the microwave.  The strawberries are already out and thawing.

Joan, yesterday while I waited my turn at the Walmart Pharmacy the saw on the readout on the counter that the prescription she was picking up was right at $2,000 dollar (that's thousands).  She mentioned it was just for 30 tablets.

Mary Ann, what better thing could be said about a person's life that she considered everyone her friend.  It is so sad when we lose these people out of our lives.

Jackie, nice you could let Benji run off the leash at such a peaceful place.  You are seeing that Benji has the best health care possible.  That black pudding and chitterlings are something I plan to exit this earth without ever having eaten.

Joan, great "Thought for the Day" and so true.

Phyllis, I join you in getting very tired of the endless doctor appointments.  I have another appointment Friday for an ultrasound on my liver and then will see the Hematologist/Oncologist doctor next Tuesday.

Shirley, what a talented son you have and sure glad you will be able to "hit the road" again after the holiday weekend.  All schools should be back in session which will make the traveling easier and more enjoyable.  Saying I am handy around the house is probably and overstatement.  I just try to do my best and that seems to get the job done.

Jane, I had to Google Scrapple to see what it was.  I have never eaten it as it wasn't a popular item in the Missouri where I grew up.  We always butchered beef and pork on the farm and rather than cured bacon the meat was cooked as side-meat, which I never like but often ate it for breakfast.  It was mainly fat.  Of course, the same thing is true of bacon.  However, the homemade sausage sounds delicious.

Patricia, maybe it was just my family that didn't have the Scrapple but I don't remember seeing it in the supermarkets either.  I looked it up to see how it is prepared.

June, thanks for your concern.  Fortunately my wife is very supportive and never pushes me when I find I need to sit down for a little while and rest.  I am feeling much better today than yesterday so am expecting a good day.  I took my blood pressure a few minutes ago and the bottom number was 65 so off to a good start.

Shirley and Jane, I did a quick Google search and found a very good video showing how to get your photos off of your smart Android phone.  I am sure similar instructions are available by searching for the iPhone.  I use the Google Photos and it works very well.  Here is a link to the video:  http://www.digitaltrends.com/photography/best-ways-get-photos-android/

Bit of a palaver this afternoon...had to take the dog food tins back to vets as they had a different label on them, saying Kidney not Renal, as after yesterday asking vet what the difference was, as both foods are to do with kidneys, he told us the kidney foods are probably to do with kidney stones which kindof satisfied us with his answer, so only after we got home and unpacked did we find that the kidney food had been given to us...so I made a phonecall telling them wrong tins had been given to us and we will bring them back in when we come tomorrow ( today ) We waited till afternoon on vet phonecall, re, his yesterday blood test, never came through, guess we weren't expecting yesterday as our vet app, was late in the afternoon, so guessed the result hadn't of come through by the close of the day....Well confusion arose over these returned tins of dog food, took in receipt, picked up the new tins vet said we can also put Benji on for choice, receptionist couldn't understand what we were returning them for, we told her they weren't for the kidney ailment that  Benji is being treated for...she called in our vet who came out of his office, called us into his surgery room, muttering, " did you get my telephone message, we both uttered back, no, assuming his blood test result..," and whilst going in, both myself and R came to a disagreement on why we were being called in...R said its to sort out this mess of dog foods, I said dont be daft, its to be told the result of Benjis blood test, he wouldn't be calling us in to talk about dogfood, well wrong when I saw the packed tins on his desk.....I said to vet, couldn't reception deal with this, instead of wasting your time, while you deal with more serious matters, I thought we was coming in to talk about Benjis result....Anyway after vet explained that these two tins are the same foods just with old and new labels, I reminded him of yesterday conversation, my question to him....What a mix up, he assumed I was referring to the new brand of dogfood, well at that point yesterday we hadn't even broached on this subject of trying Benji on any different brands....Then we did get on the subject of Benjis blood kidney result, only vets computer was playing up so back out to receptions computer, I of course ummed and arred, surely we haven't gone into vet room to discuss dog food, then come out into waiting room to discuss Benjis blood test for all to hear, so vet said we can go back into his room, so back we went.....what a right mess of a palaver....

Some good news, Benjis kidneys of course are still working on 25% but his kidney numbers have gone down from 14 or 15 from last month to 10, which means what we are feeding him is doing its work....Vet has kindof gone back on his word, re, yesterday of allowing him some treats, just told us to keep on doing what we have been doing, as it it working....As for making next months monitoring app when I mentioned it, followed by, " am I jumping the gun.." I can only go by his expression when he said possibly.....Well vets answer to us was, if it was just his kidney problem and no cancer, he would be asking for us to go see him in three months time, but of course that is not Benjis situation, so vet is not asking us to go see him next month, which only tells me that Benji might not get to see next month....Of course he did follow this with we could always pop Benji in if we have any concerns...other than that, I told him I will phone through any concerns, and would I be able to get hold of him, he said yes....

When we got indoors, R checked for telephone messages, no messages...so vet either told us a porkie pie, knowing fully he hadn't phoned through his test result this morning, trying to cover himself,.... or, maybe he did, but unknowingly phoned a wrong number and left a message on someone else's phone, we will never know....

Oh boy, I am writing another book again.... :o

Good Morning,

Stopping in to say "Howdy" before trying to find the top of my work table that has to be there somewhere under all the "stuff" I've tossed on it during The Week That Was!

I think my hibernation time is working because this is the first morning since TWTW that I haven't gotten up feeling like I was fighting my way through a fog.

Have read all the posts and said a little prayer for each Friend with health or life challenges - and chuckled at the comments on scrapple, chitterlings , etc.   I  tasted chitlins once during my first visit to hubby's Mississippi relatives and I wanted to be polite.

Out here in the Wild West,  you might come across Rocky Mountain Oysters.     As soon as I can come up with a polite way to describe what they are,  I'll be back.   :2funny:

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

Re, chitterlings....when my father done them he fried them to a crisp, I remember how they looked very long and wrinkled, but I do remember I ate them, and enjoyed them.....Now R has recently found an online company who sell chitterlings, I mentioned to him before they arrived how I remember liking them many many years ago, but never eating them since....Well when they arrived, and R was ready to eat them, he said go ahead they are ready...I took one look at them and said..." your not going to eat them like that, they are raw, they feel soft and raw..my father used to fry them, when he done them they were lovely and crisp...R said " they are already cooked, " I argued, " no they are not.." anyway we left it at that, I stayed well clear, and I left them all for him to eat, which he did, he has even ordered more since.......

Yay GLORIA'S back.. :happydance:   :dancingdog:

I really had a nice morning.  After doing my errands I met up with a group of friends and together we had a late breakfast.  So--that's why I was absent--took some personal time.

Hurrah, Gloria.  We've missed you.  At least your phone allowed you to get here.

Hello Everyfriend!  Even though it was a good day at work, I was really tired when I got home.  Sam was still mowing so while he finished, I got the doggies a snack and had my lunch and after he left, I collapsed on the sofa.  I must have slept for at least an hour and a half and I feel wiped out.  Maybe the rested feeling will come later.

I don't work tomorrow and it will be a time to take it slow and easy.  I have to have the doggies to the groomer by noon and then pick up TLH at the bus at 3:45 but those are my only obligations.

I hope Everyfriend has had a good day...all tests proved health and all health problems have disappeared.

Good Morning dear friends. we are looking for a little higher temps today, 89, but that i still acceptable. This morning is Bible Study with our Chaplain. One thirty is Current topics,  two thirty is root beer floats, two fortyfive is Edgars' Variety show and that is my schedule for the day. Then I can concentrate on "at home" duties and reading and possible naps.

Jackie, you must be brave for your beloved dogs sake. I truly feel our animals can sense our joys, our sadness, many of our emotions, and it reflects on them. Your Benji needs to feel assurance from you, and joy, so he will feel the same. I pray God grants you the strength and wisdom needed to see both you and Benji through this most difficult time.

Time for me to scoot downstairs..see you all later. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

June Drabek

As you may have guessed, I forgot to post this message that was still waiting for me in the message box. DUH !!!!!!!!!!! This is not a good day for me, for sure. I went to Bible Study, loved the guest speaker, he was so enthusiastic in his teaching. He reminded me of my Gary with his mannerisms. I came home, feeling all worn out so lay down and took a short snooze. Went downstairs and had lunch, came right home changed into lounging clothes and too another nap. So I canceled out the whole afternoon. Just have to obey the body at times. No other choice. The celebrated a Birthday at Noon lunch...Bob is 103 years young. He does his own laundry, presses his own clothing, even puts a crease in his pants when he irons. What an inspiration...makes me feel like a real Dud, but hopeful that i can keep going too. So that is my day so far. Home is the place to be. I am content.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Welcome Home Gloria !!!!!! What a thrill to see you posting. I am so thankful you can use your iphone to speak with us.

I'm going to "hit the hay" too.  It's been some kind of a day.  Tomorrow will not be too busy but some things to do.  I wish you all a peaceful night and that you wake to a lovely day.  May God bless us, every one!

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

I have been reading your posts but not commenting as I have been passing myself coming and going!

So good to see you managed to get in to say HELLO, GLORIA.  We all miss and feel so badly for you not being able to join in.  I hope the lemon will work after their next attempt to fix it.  GURRR!

A trip to my endiocronoligist yesterday brought on yet another new expensive drug....so discouraged.  We will be leaving tomorrow to drive to my 50th class reunion gathering, so I will not be starting this new med as it is going to be one that will be hard for me to tolerate it.

Continued thoughts and prayers for you and Benji today, JACKIE.  I was pleased to read that the blood test showed improvement for Benji's kidneys.

Today is my brother's 70th Birthday....Hard to believe.  Worse part is I am only 15 months younger!  Yikes!

I wish you all pleasant dreams tonigh.  Sleep well.  I hope your day will be a good one, Jackie.

Good morning everyone.

We are off to the Dr for hubby in a bit, then onto the city. My supply of quilts is low so I am picking up some more.

I am listening to the loons call across the lake, enjoying the sound .
Leaves are starting to turn colour here now....fall is sneaking in :(

Jakie, just enjoy each day you have with your furbaby.I know it is not easy to not think of what is to be but cherish the good times.

Ok, did Joan sleep in??She sure deserves to sleep in as I think she wakes the roosters up too! I hope she is ok..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm a bit worried about Joanie this morning, too.  I hope she overslept.  She needs to do that sometimes.  But I don't think she ever does.  I'll be checking back regularly to see if she has arrived yet.

Amy, have a safe trip to the city.  I don't see how it's possible that your quilt supply is low but since you use them for insulation and winter is coming, I guess you have a good reason to stock up.

Jenny, it's always nice to see you come by.  When you come late at night, I sometimes forget to greet you when I get up in the morning.  So....Good night and good morning to you.

I have some things to see to this morning so I'll be back.

I'm so hoping that Joan is all right.  Perhaps the storm moving across Florida has interrupted their power.  I'm praying that she stays safe.

I thought I was all through with doctors for awhile.  Apparently, I'm not.  I will be seeing the cardiologist soon.  It seems that the heart monitor has shown a little problem with my heart.  Whatever will be, will be.

The first tropical storm moved away from the NC coast and all they had was a little rain.  Here, about 90 miles inland, we had nothing.  We could sure use some, too.  The next storm, the one that FLA is dealing with, may give us a little moisture and, hopefully, no wind.  We'll see what happens in the next couple days.

Please make it a good day, All my Friends.

Good Morning Everyone!

Thank you Janie for the info on Joanie.  Hope the hurricanes are giving her some rain, but not the winds.  Happy she is okay.

Got to get a move on, bible study and breakfast this morning with they group.  Always enjoy both.

Check in later.

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  Another beautiful morning for South Carolina.  My quiet day yesterday didn't turn out that way as seemed there was something that needed to be done all day, except when I laid down to rest in the afternoon for a couple of hours.  I spent the morning with chores and then clearing up a bunch of paperwork that had accumulated for several days.  Then the afternoon hours were devoted to doing a load of laundry and fixing things for last night's dinner and getting Pat to her Chiropractic appointment (which we do again this afternoon).

Today I don't have to pick up my friend to go to coffee as he has a doctor's appointment.  I do plan on going to coffee and then to the Wisdom Class at the church.  Hopefully Pat will feel up to going to out eat our main meal today and if not I will go out and bring something back. I have to get some monthly bills paid this morning as well.  So there is plenty to do today but I will be taking it at a slow pace.

Jackie, sounds like you all had quite a mixup with your Vet.  Communication isn't easy and often the ball is dropped.  I have never heard that term "porkie pie" used in reference to a lie.

Callie, I know very well what Rocky Mountain Oysters are.  As I was growing up there would usually be an annual Rocky Mountain Oyster community dinner.  Of course there was always another meat on the menu.

Gloria, may I suggest you consider getting a blue tooth small and light weight keyboard to use with your iPhone.  I think I paid only about $10 for the one I have and it works very well.  They are easy to use simply by turning on the blue tooth function in the menu setting of the phone and turning on the keyboard.  The phone will discover the keyboard and you will be linked and don't have to fool with the little onscreen keyboard of the phone.  If you are interested I can probably locate the one I have and send you a link.  I don't use it often but it was very handy when needed.

Joan, glad you had some personal time with your friends at breakfast.  Also was relieved to read Jane's posting that you were OK and it was just an internet problem.  Do hope you, Beverly and all the folks in Florida come through the storm well.

JaneS, glad you have today off so you can have a day of recovery.

June, where are your priorities in passing up the root beer floats!  :)  Glad you were up to attending the Bible study.

Jenny, I relate to your situation with the expensive drugs.  It seems our out-of-pocket medical expenses keep rising at a steady pace.  Pat is now using and inhaler that is expensive, although we had a 1/3rd savings by getting it from the mail order pharmacy rather than Walmart.  If I ever get the new heart medication approved by BC/BS I will have two expensive drugs and Pat has one.

Amy, I haven't really seen much sign of fall in our area and we are still having very warm nights.

Phyllis, I am convinced that as we age our number of doctor visit increases right along with our age.  Do hope you miss any bad effects from the storm.

Everyone Has a Story in Life.....

A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted…

“ Dad, look the trees are going behind! ”

Dad smiled and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old’s childish behavior with pity, suddenly he again exclaimed…

“ Dad, look the clouds are running with us! ”

The couple couldn’t resist and said to the old man…

“ Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor? ” The old man smiled and said…“ I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today..."
