Bubble was telling me that when talking to her grandson Aviv about Benni, her late husband, telling him that he was his grandfather, Aviv told her "Don is my grandfather." I felt honoured, but also sorry that I had replaced Benni in his memory of his true grandfather.

angelface555

Jackie, I saved that post about the boy who was now able to see. Thank you!

halkel

Don, I am sure as Aviv grows older you can have a long talk with him and tell him of your experience with his real Grandfather.  And help him to form some memories.

Good Morning all. I spent an hour today cleaning up my emails. I am so very thankful that our Bis is O.K. I checked out the Fl. storm and my computer showed it going through the north west arm and missing the rest of the state. I do hope so.

I had a very good nights sleep, but feel like if I crawled back into bed, I would be asleep in seconds, so I will instead go make the bed and get ready to face the outside world. It is overcast this morning....perfect sleeping weather. sigh..... ;)
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Woo-hoo.  The cable guy was here for about an hour, and I am back in business.  I'll skip the "stuff" today since it's already after noon.

Good Morning,

So happy to see Gloria back - and Joan all repaired and ready to go.

Don,  I firmly believe that no child can ever have too many people loving him.   I'm sure you and Aviv will build many happy memories together.
My husband died just 6 weeks before our first grandchild (Miss Ellen) was born.  Although all three Grands know a lot about him from stories and an album I made of his life,  she will occasionally say,  "Grampa David knew about me."  True - although we did not know she would be a tiny premature girl with bright red hair.

Yesterday was a very productive day doing desk work.  Just as I was ready to take things to the mailbox,  the skies opened and we had about 3 inches of torrential rain in less than an hour.
There was also lightning and thunder.  According to the news, there were a couple of house fires due to lightning strikes.  My lights flickered once but nothing was knocked out - thank goodness.

Still cloudy this morning and radar shows showers approaching the metro area - although that doesn't mean they'll come over my house.

#2 son is "bringing lunch" today.   I have no idea what it will be.
With football and hunting seasons starting,  family times will be few and far between for quite some time. I need to get visiting time in while I can.
At least, I'll know where they'll be.  Oklahoma State has home games on three of the four September weekends.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

JoanFL

Thanks halkel and Janie.

Callie--Thanks.  It sure is nice to have your family so close that they can drop by for lunch.  I sure wish that was so with me.  We had rain for about 30 min. yesterday.   Not nearly enough, but every little bit helps the terrible dryness we've had.

Dogs home from groomer.  TLH went with me to pick them up.  She loves them almost as much as I do.  They are gorgeous and K took pictures of them and put one on my iPad as a screensaver.  She went home about a half hour ago and now I have to feed us.

Enjoy your evening Everyfriend!

Welcome back, you have been missed.  Hope HP works well this time.

Hi everyone. Decided to post late this evening rather than in the morning as have an early appointment at the hospital for an ultrasound on my liver. It shouldn't take too long but one never knows. This area is now expecting some impact from the hurricane.  Most of the schools and government offices are going to be closed tomorrow. The last report I saw expects the rain to start about 11 am.

Today turned out to be quiet. I was just too weary to go to coffee and the Wisdom group at the church. After resting and sleeping some this afternoon I felt better. After Pat's appointment late this afternoon we went to Ruby Tuesday's for a good dinner. I am watching the South Carolina and Vanderbilt football game in bed and writing on my iPad.

Gloria, I will try to remember to look up where I got mine and email the info to you. I think it was from Amazon.

JaneS

I'm off to Dreamland!  I wish you all a peaceful night's rest and happy rising tomorrow.  May God bless us, every one!

I am coming in to say a very thankful Good Night to all of  you dear friends. I really don't know how the hours of this day have just disappeared. I know I went down to have lunch, and before that I went down to play music bingo, and this afternoon I went to balance and mobility class, and then I get lost. I know I had supper at home, and did the dishes, then lay down to read a bit, and all of a sudden it is eight o'clock and my eyes are closing. weird.

So I will say a thankful Good night to you all and get ready for bed. I am so happy that our Bis is back on line !!!! God Bless you all and sleep well. Love and Hugs and Prayers. June

Larry, I did check out the link you posted for Jane and me.... and bookmarked it to watch again since not much soaked in the first time.  I think I have a mental block about wanting/NOT wanting to learn how to operate this smart phone. Son showed me that mine will turn "voice to text" but I can't remember how to do it.  Thanks~   Wondered if you would be in the range of bad weather.  Stay safe & keep the flashlights handy!

Callie, I had my first introduction to Rocky Mountain Oysters when friends invited us to a local bar/eating place where farmers gathered.  After explaining the "event" I declined.  The place was noted for it's good steaks & baked potatoes, good hardy food the farmers & friends appreciated.  The place is long gone & I never had the pleasure of tasting any of their food.  :sealedlips:

Jenny, Happy Birthday to your brother (You do look very young but I didn't know you are such a youngster!!!)   Sorry to see you are having to try new meds.   :shakehead:

Phyll, hope the heart problem is just a fluke and nothing serious.  We watched my progress for about 20 years before it became a problem... that was taken care of, thank you very much!

Thanks for the news about Joan, Jane.... I have been missing myself since it was mowing day.  My new weed eater/trimmer didn't arrive (what would we do without Amazon?) until nearly 8:00 this evening so I've had my, "Oh, NO!" evening.

I've thought of you, Joan, and hope you & your kids are out of harm.   :cloud:

June, it was a struggle to get the blasted thing out of the box & caused me to remember it was the same struggle not long before Cas died, when we worked to get the one he bought me out of the box.  Only HE put it together & I am faced with the dumb-dumb feeling that I don't have a clue how to put it together.  I looked at the old one but son has taken it apart so no help there.  No directions because, I guess, men are expected to just know how to do these things.  I really hate to admit I can't do anything but since I've used this old one for 3 years +.... you'd think I would have noticed how it goes together.  Won't take son a nano second to do, but it makes me so mad at myself~~!!   :withstupid:  :uglystupid2:

Don, wise advice from everyone in here... and I know you & Bubble will tell him about his blood gr-father's interesting life when he is ready to hear.  He's getting a delightful person to share his life from now on.   :music:

I am half asleep so will quit rambling on.  Sweet dreams and God Bless all.........   Shirley

Breakfast

At the diner, my breakfast arrived with only three sausages instead of the usual four. The waitress explained that the cook had dropped one and was making another.

Soon the cook dashed out of the kitchen. "Here you are," he announced. "It's the missing link!

Food For Thought

First Class Apology
(By Pastor Fred Rabinovitz, Olympia, WA)

A Pastor and his wife needed to fly to several cities, so to make the itinerary easy, they chose to fly with the same airline. This turned several
50 minute flights into 4 hour flights because of the layovers due to infrequent connecting flights.

In the midst of one of these layovers, the wife went up to the counter to get their boarding passes. After reaching the counter, she turned to her husband and said, "Honey, they need to see our ID's."

"Why," he responded "they checked them when we entered the terminal." When she called back to him that it was the regulations, he barked, "Well, that's dumb!" Right then he heard the Lord say to him, "Now, that was dumb."

After this, the Pastor argued with God about apologizing for about 15 minutes. Finally he went up to the counter and asked for forgiveness before boarding the airplane. "We get yelled at a lot, but no one's ever come up and asked for forgiveness before," said the surprised woman behind the counter.

After boarding the plane and taking their seats toward the rear of the plane, a stewardess came up to the Pastor and his wife and informed them that they were in the wrong seats. She brought them up and seated them in First Class. The woman behind the counter had moved their seats because of the heartfelt apology.

God wants to take us First Class, but how many times have we settled for coach because of our own actions and responses to trials?

Good morning Everyfriend!  It was a lovely sleeping weather night...temps in the mid 50s and it's only supposed to be in the mid to high 70s today.  I can't say (as Amy did) that Fall is on the way because I know from experience that the temps can go up in September.  I remember days before A/C when I sat in a school room with all the windows open and was so hot I couldn't think.  And even after we have the first frost, there's always Indian Summer.

Not much on the agenda today except my 4 hours at WM.  We'll see what transpires this afternoon.  Have a lovely day everyone.

Almost forgot to mention that, as in the inspirational reading, I've found that sometimes an apology does a lot more good than we think it's going to do.  For example, yesterday, I felt very bad when Kiran wanted something that I'm not financially able to give her right now.  She got very upset with me and in the car on the way home, she apologized for her actions and told me she understands.  She made me cry!  She's only 9.  I don't want her to have to understand.  I want to give her the world but I'm glad she understands.

Good morning, Janie.  GREAT that you're having such nice sleeping weather.  Thanks for sharing how Kiran was an inspiration with her apology.  She's a very smart 9 year old.

Good morning everyone..

Great sleeping weather here and no humidity!!

I have laundry on the go with one to hang out on the line in a bit. Then take my van in for an oil change ,then home to stay!

Jane our leaves are starting to turn colour in some areas and the birds are starting to flock up. When I took my friend to the city I mentioned a flock of birds sitting on the wire. Said to her look at all the mug rumps but she didn't understand till I said the birds on the wire with their mugs on one side and their rumps on the other.....hence mugrumps.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Amy, did she laugh?  I did!  Never heard that expressions but it sounds like it could have come from my dad.  He loved making up words to fit the situation.

Gloria, I find I don't have an email address for you nor do I find it here in the discussion.  So here is the link for the bluetooth keyboard that appears to be the same that I have.  http:/amazon.com/iXCC-Wireless-Bluetooth-Keyboard-Devices-White/product-reviews/B01E4T7L6I/ref=dpx_acr_txt?showViewpoints=1   If you search on Amazon for Bluetooth Keyboards you will find others.  I read some of the reviews and I think this one will work with Apple and Android devices and phones.

Good morning, Amy.  I've heard that saying, but can't remember who I was talking to when it was said.  One thing I miss here is leaves changing color.

Good morning, Larry.

Good MOrning Everyone!

I am up and getting cleaned up, got to go see the vampire this morning.  Hope the traffic is not to heavy, maybe some will want to start the long weekend early.

Joanie, Larry, hope you are doing okay with all the bad weather.  Seems most of the East coast is in for some rough weather this weekend.  Wonder why all the news people think they have to wade out into the weather to do their weathercast.
Guess they haven't got enough sense to come in out of the rain..... ::)

Janie, kids are a lot smarter than we sometime give them credit for.  I can relate about hoping they don't know how broke we were/are sometimes.  Talking to my kids now days and about those times I once explained to my oldest I hope she didn't realize how broke I was in their younger years.

Catch you guys on the backside.
