Mary Ann--I wish I could sleep through the whole night.  I wake up around 3 a.m. and can tell it's time for a nebulizer treatment.  That takes about 20 min. and by the time I am done I am wide awake.  Usually that's when I read.

Joan, there is a saying about parties in that the best part is staying home! I do like some, but when everyone and every organization is giving one or two, and many are potlucks, and within a short period?

Larry, as I said in Norm's, we ladies are not a group of chocolate kleptomaniacs!  :)  We remove the chocolate from our own bags before sending them on. Unlike most women here, the men seem to need more pencils, mini toothpaste and the like.

The charitable bags are admirable in sentiment but not in fact. The Immaculate Conception Catholic kindergarten had an excellent idea a week or so ago. Their gift bags had a bag of seasonings, two types of dried beans, and the instructions included to make a pot of delicious soup!

Jane, with the way you cook and care for your guests, I would love to come down and do a little grinchy. I really enjoy homemade preserves and home cooking. What's a few thousand miles when I think upon that?

I hope everyone is staying warm and anyone sick is now recovering. I generally recommend lots of babying, comfortable clothes, lots of naps and plenty of hot tea with honey. I only had the flu once after my one and only flu shot in 1985. It was the first and only time I have seen chills running up and down my arms and legs!

Hopefully, this Canadian cold dissipates soon, and you can get back to warmer weather!

JoanFL

angelface--I really don't like pot lucks.  If I am going out to eat I don't want to have to cook too.  Charge me a few bucks so I don't have to cook.  What a thoughtful gift for the Catholic School kindergarten to distribute.

Shirley

Joan, that is exactly how I feel about "pot luck".  Besides, what if my bowl didn't get emptied & I'd be embarrassed to take it home full....  :-[

Lloyd, " they will lick on the butter dish and shed hair all over the house for me to get in my mouth."..... I have a brother that would agree about having cats in the house.  I caught one cat on a table one time & nearly scared her out of her skin.... they really are pretty well behaved but I would not have cats if my husband hadn't gotten so attached to them because they stayed with him inside and out.

Larry, Cas suffered with gout for years & tried everything.  What I heard him talk about most was allopurinol, but he also had something that he took often when the flare was really nasty.  I think he tried uloric.... but most of all I tried to get him to watch his diet.  Every time he ate grapes or drank my Welch's grape juice (I can not drink OJ ) his gout would hit.  He insisted it couldn't be grapes because "they weren't on the list".  To which I would argue that our bodies aren't all alike or we'd all have the same allergies!!!  I do know he avoided sausage... and since he liked cherries, thought they were just what the doctor ordered.    I understand gout is very painful so hope Pat can find her trigger.  I didn't like the sound of side effects for the meds so wanted him to control with diet.  Every site on the internet & his doctor, had a different opinion about cause & cure.

Joy, I sent you an e-mail & also used the message here... not sure I got it right, but tried.  I called & left a message for Bobbie, thank you & also Marilyn for her latest info.

I'm between wash loads so better move. Noises from outside, sounds like something falling apart.  It is windy, flurries but not really snowing.  I unplugged the RV & brought the power cord back into the garage in case I need to use the snow blower.... wouldn't like to chew that up.  Chill index is already -5 & heading down.

JaneS

Angelface, we'd turn 'em upside down if we ever got together!  And I'd keep you supplied with jam, too!

Cathy just stopped by.  I knew she would and when she called to say she was coming, I warned her, no hugging.  She called to ask if I'd had lunch and when I said I'd just finished she said she was getting something and coming here to eat it.  Then she changed 6 light bulbs for me.  Boy, is it ever bright in here now!

shirley like Bis said what ever floats ones boat. every thing has a place for us all at one time or the other. I like the following statement. ( any word that has a counter part will fit)
so much good in the worst of us namely me
so much bad in the best of us namely you
that it behoves the rest of us to talk about the rest of us.

I will still have my cats Not in the house

Lloyd

JoanFL

Shirley--I never thought of my offering at a pot luck not getting totally eaten.  It's just that if I am going out to eat I don't want to also have to drag food along.  If it's that cold, get those geemogotchees out.:)

Janie--Nice that your daughter keeps checking on you when she knows you aren't feeling well.  I have vaulted ceilings and no way could reach those light bulbs.  When one goes out I have my housekeeper change it.

I called off the dinner for Sunday afternoon. Will only be 7 deg and they would be coming from out of town.  To icy for me to go out to store today and some things I needed. Just awful here. Drizzling, freezing. They say has been 40 accident around the area since yesterday.  First time I have seen them having to come and put salt and looks like sand at the corner to be able to turn onto my street. Glad as my house sits on the corner and would be hit if car didn't make the turn.
Cancelled Dr. appt again now until next Tuesday. Just a final on my year checkup. Not that important.  I will try and just go across to Ardi's which is across the street and get some bread and milk. Have lots of things in the Freezer. Filled car up with gas on Thursday.

JeanneP--It's smart to stay in and be safe in that kind of weather.

Denver

Good day to EVERYFRIEND.

It is mighty cold here today....only 8 or 9inches of snow, with a temp to match.  The sun is out but it isn't doing much good at all.

Congratulations, JOY, on the birth of a new little girl to your family.  They sure chose a sweet middle name for her!

I have been stressing alone over a family situation for a couple of months,  but today the news is out so can chat with other family members about it...thank goodness.  It is so hard to keep a secret!  Our oldest son and family that just moved from Denver to Chicago a year ago are now going to be moving to Boston....mama has BIG job offer and just did not think she could possibly pass on this opportunity.  They sure did stress over it though as the family is very happy and well settled in Chicago. I sure hope it all goes well and they will find as good of a living situation there as they have in Chicago.

I hope you all have a good day and those that are feeling under the weather start to feel much better very soon.

Austin son just called and it is 80* there today...boy does that ever sound good to me!

Have a great day.

Shirley,  yes,  I did see your message here  and I did get an e-mail.  I hope, by now, that you have been able to get in touch with Bobbie.

I know she will enjoy hearing from you.

(Thank you all, who commented on my new little grand daughter.   It will be a while before I get to see her in person.  They live in Connecticut and I am sure I won't get a chance to get up there until the weather is a lot better than it is now.  But, I will see lots of pictures., )

I'm so jealous of all of you who have great grands!  It must be a very special feeling.  My grandmother was still living when I had my kids and she lived to see Cathy at 6, Cindy at 4 and the twins at 3 and my sister's oldest child at 1 and a half.  I'll be lucky if I live to see one.

Interestingly, I needed to get light bulbs this week and they're guaranteed for 10 years.  I wonder if I'll see any of them burn out.  When Cathy was changing them I told her to take note of where they were so she could confiscate them when I'm gone.  She told me I'd probably out live them.

I'm getting decorated tonight but the sweeper is still in the living room.  It took me longer than I planned because the steam mop died!  It's always something!

Yes,  Joan.  I do see a lot of pictures of all of the great- grand daughters, but so far, have not seen one of Iris Joy when she is awake.,  She is a little sleepy-head.  LOL    They came home today, so hopefully, they will have more chances to catch her awake.

Sandy

The best part of spending time with Fe,  is  watching Kelly,  her Grand Mother   as she goes from being a Mom to a Grand Mom.
She is a completely different person.

She finally can enjoy the baby,  even more then she enjoyed her own... because of course, she is not responsible for thinking of everything that "Fe's Mom"   (Madison) has to be responsible for.

She now is the fun one.   And she loves it. I get the most joy out of Watching Kelly being GrandMa,  and Madison being Mom...

Things are the way they should be...
Such Fun!

I know what you mean, Sandy.  One of my greatest joy for the past 10 years has been watching my son be "Daddy"!  For at least 10 years before he was a daddy, that's one of the things he wanted most in life.  And he loves it!  And she adores him!  I hope that never changes.

I have to tell you that I'm disappointed in Amazon.  I have an email that says my order would be delivered before the close of business on Dec. 16th.  It still has not arrived.  Thank goodness it's not for one of the kids.  It's for my DIL and if it doesn't arrive, she'll understand.  I was here all day Thursday and Friday except for the time I went to the dr. and it wasn't supposed to be here that day.  USPS delivered a package at 7:15 a.m. and I heard them.  The dogs let me know if someone is here.

Bis, I agree so thoroughly with the Thought of the Day. If we carry the burden of yesterdays around on our hearts we will be weighed down all of our lives.  Each new day gives us the chances of a new Beginning.

Joy, I know how you feel about having a Great Granddaughter carrying your name as a middle name. I received the same honor, my latest Gr. Grand is named Ashley June. She has two older brothers and they all live in Idaho..a far stretch from So. Ca.

I am late today, guess I was still tired from yesterday. I did have an eight hour sleep last night, and more napping today. Up at five a.m. to walk off the leg pain, then had a whopper of a pain after lunch today..it hurt so bad I was groaning, and when it ceased I started shivering so badly and felt so cold I had lay down and cover up. All is well since then, so maybe it was needed. God knows.

Time to go fix up a light supper. It is going to be cold tonight so I am staying right where I am...at home. back later.....
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

I just went in to Amazon to check my order and it says it's cancelled.  No reason was given and I was not notified of the cancellation.  I might have waited until Christmas thinking it was just late due to the season.  I wonder why they don't notify?  I am truly disenchanted with Amazon and not likely to order from them again.

Jane, I always check online when something is supposed to be delivered because more than once things have been delivered to the wrong address.  We have our address on both curbs of the driveway, it is "carved" into a stone set in the brick by the front doors, and this past summer I took a permanent marker (wide one) and put the name & number on the brass "flipper" of the mail box lid built into the garage door.  We get so many different carriers all the time they don't pay attention to the address & don't know our names.  We had a good carrier for a few years and got spoiled.

FedEx & UPS are equally lax about having "regular" deliverers.   I am mad at myself because I wasn't paying attention when I ordered ink for the printer last week.... noticed it was "free shipping" & I automatically thought "Prime" ... only it wasn't & no "2 day shipping".  Finally got one order but still waiting for the other & I needed it last week.  My own fault, but I sure won't give them any rave reviews for speed! Chances are Amazon won't use the vendor you ordered from again if they give Amazon grief. Might be worth your while to let Amazon know what happened.

Congratulations to your DIL, Jenny.  Good that your son can work either place and nice they can build on 2 careers.  My daughter has spent quite a bit of time in Chicago & Boston & kind of think she likes Boston best.  I think it was the "old world charm" while Chicago was more glitz.  Hope they feel at home & expect you will be making a trip soon, to check it out.

Time for that Sat night bath, going to be chill index of 20 below in the morning so have warm clothes laid out, heavy coat, ski head band, gloves & UGGS.  My car has an auto skid thingy (most cars do) that I felt kicked in this afternoon... it sort of brakes & lets up.... like you do when it doesn't do it automatically.   :D   I do like winter but just talked to a friend that goes overboard on "global warming".... so asked him to send some of that warm about now.   :2funny:

Wish you could see these cats today, all 3 wanted to test the snow so I let them stay out about 15 min before I opened the door to have them zip past me to get in.  Tiger knows where every furnace heat vent is & loves to sit on them.  Tom doesn't quite get it but has found the "toe warmer" under the sink. I let Miss Callie come inside yesterday or day before & she immediately "marked her spot" so I rushed her out & cleaned up.  It is so bitter cold in the garage and for some reason she won't use the heated bed anymore... I've tried everything.  She is good about using the litter box in the garage.... worry-worry.

Lloyd Hammond

well we relay have it in this aria as you all most likely know over 200 vehicle accidents in kc mo. alone.the throttle cable is frozen not movable on tractor so
can't feed hay today, I have the block heater plugged in and a heat light bulb next to one end of it and on the fuel filters hope that works to night. my space heater quit working in shop so a couple hours done it in shop today. when we were children we put on coats and ice skates and shoveled the snow off of the pond and ice skated. do not where my old skates are and don't think my legs would take it now days. sweet dreams and good night.

Tisie, those kitties keep you young. They have your number alright. Lucky cats. I hope they appreciate your TLC.

It is just past seven thirty and I am all ready to crawl in bed. Just remembered one, last chore...writing out a check for Church tomorrow. So off I go and then to bed.  Keep warm and well this night...even Ca. is growing cold. No global warming here. Love you all..June

Shirley, I tried for half an hour to figure out how to get in touch with Amazon Customer Service with no luck.  I know someone on here said they called but I don't remember who it was.  That just added to my bad feeling for Amazon.  Now I'm going to shut up and go to bed.

May God bless us, Everyone (except maybe Amazon.  Nah, I'm not that mean.)
