Good Morning Everyone!

Janie I too have a call (Email) to my doctor asking if I can get into see him today.  If not I am going to go into some emergency treatment place and get something for this cough.  It is acting like it wants to start all over again.  I hope you get some relief.

I need to go put coffee on.

phyllis

Good morning and ditto what Jeanne Lee posted.  Cold here, too, (though not as cold as it is where she lives, I'm sure!)  and I'm not looking forward to getting out to the grocery store.  Wish we didn't have to eat!

Jane and Hal....glad you are going to check with your doctors.  I hope they can help you feel better soon.

Hi everyone on a bright and sunny Thursday morning.  I am having a laid back morning as my schedule is light for today.  I don't have to pick up my friend for coffee this morning as members of his family are taking him out for lunch as his Christmas present.  I will go to coffee in a little bit and afterward stop at Office Depot for some printer ink.  I must get it today to take advantage of the $10 off coupon we got with the purchase of Pat's chair a few days ago.  If Pat can get her shoe on this afternoon we may go out to eat for our main meal of the day.  If not it may be chili for dinner tonight.  We had a nice time with Scott last evening.  After the dinner at church the santuary was open for a special service and Scott wanted to see the interior of our sanctuary so we stopped in briefly and he was most impressed with the interior of the church.  This was a big step as he hasn't wanted anything to do with the church for many years since he lost his baby son over 20 years ago.  Hopefully one of these days he will return to church but that has to be his decision.

I haven't read the new postings since yesterday but need to leave for the morning so will be back later to catch up on what is going on.

Gloria

Good morning on a frigid and very windy one. The wind has been howling since last evening and mostly stopped me from sleeping. I just dosed on and off all night.

AMY  it happened to me before when I could not post and realized I had to sign in again. There is a welcome at the top of the page and my name was not there so that is what told me. Hope your snow has stopped by now.

JUNE  I have not got any cards ready for the people here and I do have the cards. Just getting so I do not want or have the energy for much lately.

HAL  they can cure so many things now but they still have no way to cure a cold. Weird. Get all the rest you need. Just come in and say hello so we do not worry. It could be more than just a cold you and your wife have.

SHIRLEY  I have 2 address books that I have names and numbers in. Every time I get a new one I add it. Both books are so old that some of those in it have gone to God. Need new ones but since I don't get out much  I would need someone to get them. I had my CNA get me some Christmas cards and they are not very nice so do not want to use them. Might tell her to take them.

JOAN  you are so dedicated to the SS and those who post here we would be heartless if we deprived you of spending time with Linda or any family member who is there. Enjoy your time together.     Never had eggs and hash together so I sure will try it. Chuckles, makes me wish I knew a golfer to send that to.  Food for Thought and the quote go together and I have copied both. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JACKIE  enjoy the lunch today.

LLOYD  good morning to you. Like you I was surprised at how long the batteries last in the wireless mouse and keyboard.

JANE  hope you got in to see your doctor.

JEANNE LEE  same thing here and will feel like below 0 tonight.

HAL  about time you see the doctor.

LARRY  bright and sunny here but very windy and cold. I will not be going out for a walk today.

Good morning, Larry.  It would be nice if Pat could get a shoe on so you can go out for a meal.  How about slippers?  I have some that sure look like shoes, but they are stretchy.  I understand Scott's reluctance to attend church.  Maybe by your example, he'll start going again.

Gloria--Good morning.  That must have been some really howling wind to keep you awake.  Linda had an early flight out so it was a short visit.  Like you, I haven't addressed a single Christmas card yet.

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone,  from the soon to be freezing cold rocky coast of Maine.    This should only last for a couple of days,  then we are do to go back up to the more comfortable "Winter Weather" in the 30's ... I Understand that this comfy weather will be lasting until after Christmas.

I can't really complain..  Yesterday I went out with Kelly,  Madison and Fe.   Four generations of "females"  hanging out and having lunch.
Fe is such a good little girl..  Never fusses or cries and boy does she love to eat!    She makes a great luncheon companion.

This is something that I cherish.

Have a good day Everyone,  and stay warm where ever you can.

Sandy

I am back from coffee and doing a couple of errands.  I am going to go to our favorite BBQ place to get a good meal for us today as Pat doesn't want to put on a shoe.

I have read all the postings and thanks to each of you for posting.  I sure hope JaneS and Hal are able to get into to see their doctors and that today isn't too hard on Amy and her husband.

Amy, Carol and any other quilters my wife shared this link with me.  You have to look at it to believe it and it is worth a quick view for non-quilters as well:

Sandy--How nice it is that four generations can be together every week.

Larry--Thanks for the link.  That's amazing.

Sandy

Yes Joan... and it is nice that there is only one person from each generation...  and the baby is very easy going at 7 months...

As I am the stranger in the group (They all live next door to one another) she is still comfortable with me sitting next to her and we can play with each other's hands.

I am very lucky.

I am not having problems getting into S and F or onto  the Internet but when  it comes to E-M accounts they have gone crazy. I use Comcast as my server and it is really messed up. Can't get into my Account there at all. Now wanting a 4 did get security ID number  put in along  with a voice security. No idea what they are talking about.  All I can reach right now on them is in the Philippines. Spent over a hour twice. Got no where. To cold out to go see them at the office here and you can't get a phone number for them.

Yes, Sandy--you are very lucky.

I thoroughly enjoyed my MS lunch do....a very enjoyable cooked Christmas meal, turkey, brussel sprouts, baked potato, carrots and greens with gravy, oh and bacon wrapped around a cocktail sausage....Christmas pud and custard for afters, and I sussed out my share of Bucks Fizz, think just a half glass may have gone to my head as very surprised when the MS centres Director brought in Father Christmas, I already had rehearsed what I was going to ask him for,...after shaking his hand and saying to him..." nice to meet you..." ...yes, I had reverted back to a child and talked to him like he was a REAL Father Christmas and asked him to bring me my dog back for Christmas, ( Benji ) much to his amusement and mine, he said he would if he could....I was kindof laughing to myself and glad I didn't blurt it out to him but, I was thinking how slim Father Christmas was, not your usual looking Santa, just glad I NEVER told him that, I WAS  thinking about it... ;D  After dinner and after Father Christmas had finished dishing out our presents, ( mine when I got home was a wrapped box of Terry's All Gold chocolates, ) sadly there are only three or four left now, the ones I least like....he was personally ushered to my direction by the centres manageress Kay, guess because I was a new member....we had the enjoyment of a choir, guess a party of ten or eleven all in their 50s, 60s, and 70s,... they handed out Christmas Carol leaflets where we got to sing along with them, not on all but on the ones they said we could join in....Then another welcomed, yet unexpected surprise, the male elderly Director, himself in a wheelchair called in the local Pastor or Vicar who gave us a blessing, not an individual one....Well after each Carol song I took a tiny sip of my Bucks Fizz, I mean the minutest amount as I kept telling anyone who passed me that..." I could get used to this..." I moved and sat with one male MS'er who I have sat with before and we got into conversation on sorting the world out, and having a positive attitude to our B*** of an Illness...where at one point while getting too carried away I had slurred a word I was trying to get out and with some laughter, so he and another male MS'er took the mickey out of me with a hand gesture to having one too many, the hand - glass to the mouth, that started me off even more...with the words from the two males saying to each other, I know I've been watching her " meaning, been watching me knocking the drink back, well I swear half a glass with a tiny sip after each Christmas carol got sung was not enough to send me over the top...it was all pure fun and we had ourselves a laugh....Of course once I got home, R wound me up and as usual ruined my very enjoyable day by telling me I had had a go at him when I couldn't get past a MS lady and he called me to walk backwards the long way round the table, he assumes everyone can do what he does, he said it was just a short walk but not to me, it still doesn't register with him that I have an Illness that doesn't allow me to walk so far, he assumes what he can do, everyone else is expected to follow suit, that everyone can automatically walk as far as he can.....his uncaring attitude to people with afflictions really gets my back up....I wouldn't have minded but I am, and MY MS is giving HIM a social life, that is more than he is giving me, as to be honest he was not really meant to be there, it is just for MS'ers and their carers....

June Drabek

Janie and Hal, I pray that you will both receive the needed medical help today. I am so sorry you day started out badly.

Gloria, I have typed up form letters to about five dear people that don't come on the computer, and the letters are sitting there waiting to be mailed. I don't know what's the matter with me, but I just don't seem to care if I get things done or not. I am ashamed of me.

Sandy, I can undrerstand your wonderful feelings of yesterdays luncheon with your girls...I am so happy for you.

I had a miserable night, Leg woke me about 3 a.m. so I dressed and went out to walk the hallways. I helped and I have dozed off and on since then. A nurse from downstairs came up as I forgot to push the button this morning saying I was O.K. She checked my leg, took my vitals, commiserated with me on the pain, and agreed that too many ibuprofen can cause stomach problems. There is nothing they can do, but they sure are kind.

I am going down for lunch soon, then home to relax till it is time to dress up for our Choir sing at 2 p.m.at the Club house. We will do a repeat performance tomorrow and then we are through till the next Holiday.

Rain was predicted for today and tomorrow, but nothing yet. There was sunshine early today, but now some clouds have rolled in. That gives us hope.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

CallieOK

Good Afternoon,

Janie and Hal,   hope your doctors were able to get you in PDQ and could help your ailments.

Jackie,  what a lovely luncheon - although you could have had my Brussels Sprouts!  Seems as if they're the newest "must have" food to be fixed all kinds of different ways; however, I have never had one I liked.

Sandy, the 4 generation get-togethers are really special.  I'm so happy for you.   Do you know finger plays to do with Fe ...such as "Itsy Bitsy Spider"?  She may be a bit young to do the motions but I'd bet she'd love trying - and it would be such fun to watch her.

Larry - I'm probably too late to get my BBQ order in.    Hope it was as tasty as I think it would be.

Gloria,  I need to start a new address book because mine has so many names crossed out as no longer with us.

JeanneP,  my computer put in 30,000+ updates when I opened it this morning - and rearranged all the icons on my screen.  Hate it when that happens but it usually corrects itself....eventually.

June,  so sorry about the leg problems.  I hope your Choir program goes well.

I may have mentioned quite a while ago that I was getting new braces for my feet.  The new ones would not fit and were sent back.  After a personal phone consultation with the owner of the manufacturer (he called me) to discuss the issues,  he called the podiatrist to tell him exactly how he wanted my feet re-cast for the mold.
So off I went this morning to have that done.
I took all my Bed Bath & Beyond coupons with me = planning to go there afterwards - even thought it's only 25º.
However,  my extra heavy coat made it hard to move comfortably and the cold air made my eyes water - so I made a quick trip to the dairy store and came home.

It supposed to be almost 70º tomorrow so I guess I'll go to BB&B then - along with the multitude of other shoppers who'll be out before The Blue Norther arrives on Saturday and temperatures plummet into the low teens with wind chills below zero! Bleah!!!!

6 days and counting until Miss Ellen comes home for a week.  Can't wait to hear that she has safely landed in OKC.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--You sure had an enjoyable luncheon and enjoyed it to its fullest.

June--Sorry your sleep was interrupted by that painful leg.  Enjoy your choir singing.

Callie--That's too bad the braces were not right and you have to go through all that again.   I know you are anxious to hear that Miss Ellen has arrived home safely.

Well, I didn't get into see my doctor but another one in the clinic.  First apmt was for 850 and got myself ready, sorta, and pour a cup of coffee and the phone rang and they said could I please come in at 810
and see a different doctor, I looked at clock and I had about 30 mins to get there and rushed out the door, no coffee, and just as I turned on the main drag I remembered I didn't have my billfold with me.....so make a "U" turn on the and drove back to house, long story short, I walked into clinic at 811.

Nurse came in before I could get sit down good and into a treatment room and she spent almost an hour on going over my meds, still haven't figured that out, doctor came in and did his thing and ordered a breathing treatment and antibiotics and Musicx (sp) and some unrelated med (calcium) that he said I needed because of the seed implant they do for cancer.  Anyhow, now just wait to see if his magic works and back to see him in five days.  I also had to get a blood test and of course pickup my meds.  Got home around 11.

Weather is turning cold and windy here.  "They" are saying Saturdays high will be 83 and then on Sunday Hi will be in the 40's.  Texas in the Winter.

Oh, I did have a "Little" phenomenon in my lower left lung. And of course got I told you so from two women in my life.....

Hope Janie got in okay.

Amy

Good afternoon.
Didn't make it in this morning as I had a lot of snow to remove, everything was going great and then the snow thrower stopped...and wouldn't go :( So I had a dance with the shovel...thankfully the snow was light.

We were lucky, the nurse that went over the forms this morning noticed the bad weather starting (blowing white out snow) so she asked the Dr if she could see us after talking with her and before the blood work...all in all it worked out great and we were home just after the time we were to have seen the Dr.

I started the snow blower and again it stopped so off to get it fixed and I hope we don't have snow tomorrow to move!!!

Larry, love that sewing machine!!! The tractor I used didn't have that and I had to pay attention to where I was going.Thank you for sharing.

Hope Janie is ok..

Better go see what I can rustle up for supper.

Take care.

Good afternoon well I had a very restless night woke up not fleeing good set in my easy chair ans dosed on and off most of the morning, the tire was flat on the front of the tractor. so i went and got jack and impact wrench and took it off and to tire shop. he said i worked on this tire the other day? yes and it has a slow leek until yesterday It got in a hurry. so i decided to bring it back did not want to have to walk back to house. he went right to work on it. pretty soon I seen him through the tub in the trash and put a new one in it, the boss rolled it out to me and said go feed your cattle. how much I owe you? nothing go feed your cattle.I said I should at least owe you for the tube. no he cought it with the tire too when taking it apart so no charge.so I have the charger on the tractor. getting ready to go feed hay. you all have a great day.

JoanFL

halkel--You had quite a time getting to the doctor, getting seen and treated.  I hope the new meds have you feeling better in a jiffy.

Amy--You sure don't need trouble with the snowblower with everything else you have going on.  It was nice of doctor to see you early after the nurse noticed the dreadful weather.

June--Sing, sing, sing..........

Lloyd--Glad to hear all worked out with the tire.

We did it Bis. I got a hug from our director so he must have been pleased. He always says a prayer, aloud, before we begin a program, and even at practice, so He must feel all we old folks need that extra help.   :D

I stopped at the clinic on the way home, and was told the doppler I  had done was O.K. but now she wants another one fpr the Artery. The other one was of the veins. So our clinic will arrange it all..appt. time, a ride over and back, so I just sit and wait.

Lloyd, for a man that didn't sleep well, or even feel well, you sure got a lot of hard work done today. I would that you take as good a care of Lloyd as you do of your machinery and cows and ditches, etc.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Have had some supper, and I am tired, so will bid you all Good Night, and prepare for a very early bed. I am sorry we still have some sick folks here. I pray God is working His healing on those who need it. Rest well tonight and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. Hugs, Love and Prayers, June

JOAN...CALLIE K....
...thank you both for reading...I know I started another book....Callie I do like brussel sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower... cant get on with other greens such as curly kale, swiss chard, spinach or cabbage being my worst...only wished I could, they are things people with MS should be eating...As long as brussel sprouts are cooked soft, I can, and will eat them...but not when they are rock hard like " bullets..."

CHUCKLES

A Wisconsin Poem for you:

It's winter in Wisconsin
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At twenty-five below.
Oh, how I love Wisconsin
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Wisconsin
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground!

Food For Thought

Audacious Hope

By Rebecca Heys
Scripture Reading: Lamentations 3:19-24

Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compasions never fail.
Lamentations 3:21-22
Hope is a Christian virtue. It’s a good and positive thing.
We need hope because the world is not yet the way God intends it to be. We need hope because we are waiting for things to get better. Hope means believing in the light even when we are in the darkness. Or, as Wendell Berry put it in his poem “Manifesto: Mad Farmer Liberation Front”: “Be joyful though you have considered all the facts.”  Hope opens us to have joy whatever the facts may be.
The facts around us show that the world can be a scary place. But Christian hope is bold to say that even in the darkest times, God’s light still shines. Even when we are afraid, God remains in control of the universe, and he loves and cares for us more than we can ¬imagine.
To those who do not know the Lord, hope might seem like a crazy virtue. If we consider the facts, we could be frightened about our lives and our world.
But because of the great love God has for us, we have reason for hope. We have reason to believe that we are safe in the care of a faithful and powerful God. We can boldly hope in God and in the promises God makes to us.
Faithful God, thank you for giving us reason to hope, even when our lives are difficult and the world seems like a scary place. Thank you for being true to your promises. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
