Good Sunday morning, Everyfriend.  There's beignets to go with your coffee or tea.  I wish ALL a blessed day.

Thanks to Phyllis for her lovely “President’s Day” graphic creation which we are using this week.

The Church Parrot

An elderly woman was looking for a pet to be a good companion and not much trouble. The pet store owner suggested a parrot, showed it to her and guaranteed her it would be a wonderful companion.

The woman asked if it would behave if she took it to church with her on Sundays. The owner said it shouldn't be a problem and that she could put him on her shoulder and he would stay there. She bought the parrot and for the next week spent time getting to know him.

Assured that he spoke properly and was well behaved, she put him on her shoulder and went off to church. Just as everyone quieted down and the sermon began, the parrot looked around, squawked and said, "It's so cold in here!"

Everyone turned to look at her and she ran out of the church in total embarrassment! All the next week, she talked to the parrot explaining the necessity to remain quiet during church. The parrot understood so she put him on her shoulder and went to church the following Sunday.

Once again, just as everything got quiet and the sermon began, the parrot squawked, looked around and loudly proclaimed, "It's so cold in here!!"

And again the woman ran from the church. The next day she returned to the pet store and explained the embarrassing situation to the owner. Since she didn't want to get rid of the parrot, the owner offered the following solution:

If the parrot does that again, grab him by the legs and swing him around 5 or 6 times and return him to your shoulder."

"That'll work?" asked the woman.

"Guaranteed!" exclaimed the owner.

So, the next Sunday she took the parrot to church and, sure enough, just as the sermon started, the parrot squawked, "It's so cold in here!!" Without any hesitation, the woman grabbed his legs, swung him around 5 or 6 times and placed him back on her shoulder.

The parrot shook his head, ruffled his feathers and said, "Pretty windy, too!"

Food For Thought

Cat Royalty
(By Michael Newnham)

My cats are very different from each other, though they came from the same place.

The street.

Miss Kitty walks in her adoption...she thinks she's a princess who has the entitlements of royalty.

She asks (tells) me when she's hungry and expects to be fed.

She expects to be fed something she likes...she also makes it clear what she likes and does not like.

She expects me to note those choices.

She is not shy about asking...she will stand directly on my head as I sleep to let me know it's time for breakfast.

If it is raining outside she will walk in the house, stop at my chair and get my attention, then walk into the bathroom to be toweled off.

She expects me to follow her promptly and complete the task at hand.

She usually informs me about 9:00 PM that it's bedtime...she prefers the lights and the computer off then, thank you.

At times, she also wants displays of affection...she tells me when, how, and for how long she should be petted.

She is bold and unafraid to make her requests known to me and she has every expectation that they will be answered.

Because I love her, they usually are.

Chester has different expectations.

He cries a lot.

He does not yet believe he's been truly adopted.

He cries because even though he eats enough for ten cats, he's not sure I will keep feeding him.

Affection makes him nervous...he loves it until his fear kicks in...the fear that if he lets his guard down something bad will happen.

He's trusted others before...it didn't work out well.

He very much wants to act like Miss Kitty and have what she has, but fear rules him.

He just knows that if he was as bold as her he would end up in the street again...so he settles for whatever he gets.

Most of us act like Chester with God.

He wants us to act like Miss Kitty.

Be bold and expect goodness.

You're royalty.

You're loved.

I have to go...she wants the chair...

Make your own application...

Thought of the Day

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm just marking my place for later.  My mornings begin earlier because of going to church at 8 a.m.

I have a full day coming up.  First, church and coffee hour and today we are all having a group picture to present to our Interim Rector who will be leaving us at the end of this month to accept his own calling.  Then I have to stop at WM for a couple of things and then home to make Chocolate covered PB saltines for my Son-in-Law's birthday.  Later this afternoon, there is a cookout at their house to celebrate.

I don't know when I'll be able to be back to see what all of you are up to today so I'll just wish you a GREAT DAY filled with whatever you wish for.  God be with you!

Hi everyone. After a dreary and damp day yesterday we have clear skies and expect to get to 75 degrees this afternoon.  We will go to Sunday School and Church this morning and then out to eat and spend the rest of the day quietly.  I did go to COSTCO yesterday afternoon (and I think so did everyone else in the area as they were very busy).  I came home and watched some of the PGA golf match from California.  They are a day behind and will try to play two rounds today.

Hal, hope you escape those storms today.   I hate having a needle put into my hand.  I looked but I don't have your house keys. :)

JaneS, our housekeeper cleans our entire home in less than three hours and while we pay her well she does a good job and is very dedicated to her work.  I hope you can find someone that will do a good job for you and be reasonable.  When we went to Missouri years ago to stay with my folks my mother had hired a lady to come for only one hour to do the floors.  After she went to live in the nursing home Pat extended the cleaners hours to do the entire house.  My folks could well afford to have that done.  We always have found the housekeepers from recommendations from friends or in a couple of instances we knew the ladies.

Patricia, we pay our housekeeper $18 an hour but it is a fixed rate so if she runs over that is included in the set price.

June, have you ever considered a Keurig one cup coffee maker?  It makes a quick cup of coffee and is very easy to use.

Jenny, hope you get to spend time with your grandchildren today and get that 4 generation picture.

Good Morning,

'Tis a dreary day in central Oklahoma.  Only cheery spots are two bright yellow daffodils blooming in the pot garden.

I'm still a bit sniffly so will "attend" church via tv this morning.   The Lunch Bunch will have to settle problems without my input.   ;D

Good morning on this February morning.  I woke up to sunshine, no wind, and over 40oF !  Not "normal" for February in northern New York.  And it looks as though this will continue for the rest of the week.  Mind you, I'm NOT complaining!   ;D

Good morning everyone, yesterday and today have warm temperatures. Already in the low 40's.

HAL  I wish you the best with those shots. I had a form from the pain doctor for how my back felt each day for that first week and  for each week after till I see him again the end of this month. My back feels a little better but not to where I can walk without my rollator. Hope by now you found your keys.

JUNE  wish I could eat like you do. I have my oatmeal for breakfast and could go the rest of the day eating nothing but know I have to but I eat little. A beautiful view means nothing to storms when those mudslides hit. Like an avalanche of snow, they distroy everything in their paths. I nave not been reading much either. I know spending hours at the computer are not good but that is what I have done.

MARY ANN  from the weather forecast last night we should be in the 40's and even into the 50's this coming week.

PATRICIA  hope you continue to feel better.

AMY  great that man with the tractor cleared that snow. I know how heavy the snow left by plows can be.

CAROL  only once when I visited my daughter in San Diego did we go over the border. Walking into Mexico was easy but even then coming back into the US we had to open the bags with our purchases. No dogs back then, must have been about 30 years ago.

JANE  welcome to the old timers group or needing help. No fun.I am thankful I have help 3 times a week because I cannot even do laundry anymore. Now if she had time to do some cooking I might start eating again.

JENNY  hope you got that picture of 4 generations.

PHYLLIS  great graphic of 2 great presidents. Thank you.

JOAN  OK  I have a towel in front of me to catch all that sugar from the beignet so bring it on. Mmmm so good. Like the parrots last remark. Cat Royalty is a keeper. Will share with a couple of Cat people I know. Thank you for all today's goodies.

DON  hello

LLOYD  take it easy today with that headache.

JEANNE LEE  like you we are expecting a warmer than usual week for February. I keep waiting for the other shoe to fall and get a big snow storm.

Gloria, I know what you mean about the other shoe dropping.  This is not "normal" and we can still expect to have at least five or six weeks of winter weather before we can start really looking for spring.

I'm back from church and a quick stop at WM for some "odds and ends".  I didn't even wear a coat to church this morning...just a short fleece jacket and and I was plenty warm enough.

Now I have to get started on my SIL's birthday candy.

Larry, I know some people around here who have cleaning people and they are paying $20. an hour.  I'm going to make some calls on Monday.  My daughter who works for the Agency on Aging, gave me the number of a lady who is related to someone there.  And I have the names of three agencies in this area.  We shall see.

Good mo,rning evveryone.

June, no I haven't found my keys.  It is so frustrating. We are going over to my daughters today and I am going to check his truck again. Larry they can't seem to settle on a forecast.  All they will say now is possible heavy rain and some severe.

Gloria, my back felt pretty good this morning.  At least good enough to fix breakfast without any discomfort.

My granddaughter came in from del rio late last night headed back to the big apple and left early this morning for an early flight.  I slept through her visit.  I stayed up late hoping to see her but she was later than my eyes would allow.

We pay our cleaning lady a set fee for whole house cleaning.  Never really figured how much hourly, but it works out about twenty bucks an hour.  And she does an outstanding job, she cleans stove, f,ridge and under everything.  And changes sheets on bed.

Everyone have a great day.

Okay, I found my keys.  They were in my wifes purse, she had picked them up and put them in one her inside side pockets.  Third time I had gone through the thing.  After just about giving up I was feeling the sides and said that I felt something and start probing and sure enough they were there.     Yeeeeaaaahhhhhhoooooo.

You know, Hal, that is about the same way I found my keys.  I kept looking in the "legitimate" parts of my purse and no keys, but I felt at the bottom of the purse and realized something was there - yes, there were - my keys.  I'm glad you found them because I know how frustratng it is to not be able to find something that you use often.

Good afternoon, on another beautiful day, it is now 61 degrees and this is still Feb. Again yesterday, I wrote a long post, got to the end, and guess I hit the wrong button.

Joan, thanks again for good reading and foos.

June, I have a 4 cup coffee pot, and also a Keurig, which I use most of the time for making hot chocolate.

Jenny, that is great that you will make 50 years, it takes a lot of love and effort, I know as I have mentioned we med 62.

Carol, when Dennis was stationed in Big Springs,Tx. we drove to Del Rio and went into Mexico, coming back, I thought they were going to take the car apart, they even looked underneath.

Larry, my neighbor from Vt. had a snow rake, when she moved in, she used it to clean the snow off of the car port.  I was standing in my doorway, one bad winter, and I saw the carport across the street just cave in on their car. It did a $1000. damage, took out the back window, the side mirrors etc.

Gloria, I would not be surprised if we do not have a big storm in March. My mother would say, watch our for "The eyes Of March" we had the blizzard of 1888, and her mother had got lost in that one.

Hal, I had those 4 shots for my back a few years ago, last about 3 months.  for a few years I went in for the 1 shot every 3 months. which last a little over a month.  My doctor had form that he gave out each time with questions, and also a picture of a body, and I had to mark where the pain was. By the way, found my keys once in the washing machine.

Jane, I had a great housekeeper, she came every two weeks, and charged $15. and hour, and she would finish in about two and half. She was in a bad accident, and cannot use her left arm for any lifting. After I got out of the hospital the first time I was in, my neighbor came over and said she would clean. She said she did not want any pay, I said no way! She agreed to $10 per. I ask only that she make my bed. and vacuum and mop the kitchen. She does that and more, but very slow, but what can I say. Being a friend she stops and talk a lot.

I wish I lived near you Jane, I used to house clean and did it for one family from '92 to 2012. She passed in 96 and I kept on working, jobs were inside and doing yard work.I would also drive them to the city for Dr appointments. In 2012 he fell and broke his hip so he came to live with us....said he would go face down in the river before he went to the manor!!! He had cancer since 92 but being an old war vet he was very tenacious...but a joy to be around. They both treated me very well.
I did manage to get the bread done and I made some monkey bread too. Took a loaf and some of the monkey bread over to the neighbour and put some in the hidey hole too!!
The tractor left some chunks of snow in the way so I took the shovel to that and cleaned them up......nice now that you can see down the road when you drive out and not have to inch and peek :coolsmiley:

Joan, thank you for breakfast

Enjoy your day everyone

Good afternoon dear hearts, sorry I lost track of time. Some folks lose their keys..I lose my mind. Had a bad night. Woke with leg pain. Tolerated it for a couple of hours, then called downstairs at three a.m. and requested a percocet. The nurse was here in minutes with the pill. I slept solidly till 6 a.m. when the day time nurse arrived with my thyroid pill. Stayed awake, went down to get the leg cared for. The sore is healing so nicely, I may need care for a day or two more then I will be free to sit under the shower till the water grows cold..Yipee. Got my lazy hide off to Church, came here, started to read your messages, found it was time for lunch, so got that done, came home and fell sound asleep for the rest of the afternoon.

Hal, glad you located the keys. They HAD to be in the house since you used them to get in. My door automatically locks when I leave the apt. so several times I have asked a worker to let me back in the house, because I left my keys on the counter. DUH !!!

Bis, in my house, family comes first, as it should be. We so seldom see them we don't want to lose a minute of their time. It was SO good having Dori here yesterday. I'm happy you will have him again on Wed.

Larry and Gloria de, I have heard of the Keurig coffee pots, but I have already ordered a four cup Mr. Coffee. That is the amount I usually have each day. If I need more I keep instant coffee on the shelf, but it isn't as tasty as from the regular.

I am still yawning with sleepiness. Tomorrow I want to get some laundry done early, so hope i sleep all night..no more napping today.

Very quiet around my favorite spots tonight. I had some canned Chili for supper tonight and it was a treat. For some reason I have neglected Chili for a long time, and I have always enjoyed it.

It is another cool night, I will only open my windows a crack. I don't like to leave the furnace on while I sleep, I prefer it to be cool so I can snuggle under the comforter, but sitting here with the window part way open is Not cozy.

I pray you all have a very peaceful night, and that LLOYD wakes up without a head ache tomorrow. I am concerned about that.

I wish you all peace, prayers and hugs. June

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND!

I am smiling big tonight as I reminisce the gathering of my family today.  Although it was over much too quickly, it sure was nice to see the grands all together.  The kids were so happy to see their great-granddad. We did take a lot of pictures, but I am still going through them to see which ones are the best.  Too many people to expect everyone to smile and keep their eyes open.

Thank you, JACKIE, LARRY, GLORIA, and GLORIA de, for your nice wishes for getting the family picture taken and the comments about our up coming 50th wedding anniversary.  Sadly JACKIE, we will not be near our friends that will also be celebrating their 50th, but we all will sure be thinking about the other couples that are. We all commented on how blessed we felt to have been married to our best friends for that many years.

GLORIAde, I hope and prayer we can have at least 62 years, if not more together.  None of us know how much time we have.

HAL, sorry you missed seeing your granddaughter.  Happy to read you found your missing keys.

JOAN, how nice that you were able to enjoy the time with Joe before he had to leave, but will get to see him on his return.  Thank you for our goodies today.

We leave early tomorrow morning for our return drive home to Colorado.  The weather will be a bit of a concern early in the day, but should get much better as we head east.  As always, I dread saying good-bye to my Dad.  It is always so good to be together and I just want the opportunity to continue.

Son Dave and Family will also be leaving tomorrow, but they plan to leave by 4 AM as they have to get home for work and school on Tuesday.  We will more than likely spend the night somewhere as it is not a good idea for us to push ourselves to drive the whole way there in one day.

Dr. Dave was in AZ for a meeting for his company.  His wound care center won every award that was given out.  His clinic was #1for individual clinic, #1 for regional and #1 for national.  He was very proud and pleased.  He works very hard and long hours and it has paid off for him.

I must get to bed and I still need to throw a few things into the suitcase.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Food For Thought

What a Ride!
(by Peder Eide)

I like to listen to bible teachings and speakers on CD when I am out on the road. It works well for me and as I listened to a CD of a local pastor's teaching in my truck while traveling to a concert, my heart was awakened by a question he posed at the beginning his talk. To paraphrase it, he told of news he had received that 2 single women from his church who were serving as missionaries in Cameroon had died. Failed brake on a mountain road, over the cliff, both dead. One was a nurse; one was doctor, both from the Twin Cities. Both women were both 80 plus years old!!! Then the pastor spoke of an article in Readers Digest where it talked about a couple who made key investments and now get to spend there early retirement years in Florida collecting sea shells, shuffle board, and spending afternoons on their new boat. Then came the question...which one of these is a tragedy? I almost needed to pull the truck over to the side of the road. What a truth. It's not that it's wrong to retire or make wise investments but to honestly ask myself what is my life for and when will I be done serving the Lord Jesus Christ? The answer was pretty clear...my life is for what ever God wants it to be and I will never be done trying to serve, please, glorify, and take delight in Him. I was not made to take a seat and do nothing one day. What that picture looks like, I don't know but I do know that I was created for good works and what God has started in me God will take to its completion.

Even as I write this, I have been met with some big challenges that can feel personal or defeating, yet part of the call that God gives is to do what ever, go wherever, and give it everything, every time. Mike Yaconelli says this life with Jesus is to sit down, buckle up, hang on and at the end to look back at where the Savior has taken you and say "What a Ride!" That's what I want.

"Only one life twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last!"

My dear friends, let us make this life count, not just last.

Peace and love,
Peder

Good morning everyone.

I hope the lovely weather continues today. I need to tidy up some as we have company coming later on this afternoon.
I might even get some sewing in today! I thought I would sew yesterday after making bread but that wasn't to be. I had over filled my monkey bread in the pan and one of the balls fell off and onto the bottom of the oven where it made itself known...so I had an oven to clean :(

Jane, I am sure we would have fun I would dearly love to go to your Amish market and play with your dogs, after the word is done though!!

Hal, I bet your so happy to have your keys, I know only too well the feeling when you can't find them!

June, like you, I like my window up just a tad to let the fresh air in.

Gloria, I hope your back is feeling better.

Larry, tell your wife that Connecting Threads has some new backing....3 of them found their way here :)

Joan, thank you for breakfast!

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, yesterday was a rare day for winter. Warm and sunny. Was almost 60°. I spent most of the day outside enjoying it. Sat on the porch in the sunshine with a book. Then a few others came out and I put the book away.  Later in the afternoon a few more came out and it was like when I first moved here.

JEANNE LEE  yesterday was a nice break in winter. Even the wind was calm. I remember once when I was 9 or 10 when we had our February vacation from school we were outside with light jackets on. When we had the Easter vacation we had to wear our winter coats and there was a lot of snow on the ground.

HAL  hope that good feeling in your back lasts a long time. Next week I see the pain doctor again and let him know the shots at my spine did not help. Hooray you found your keys.

JOAN  glad Joe will be back Wednesday for a few more hours. Any time spent with our children is great.

GLORIA de  yesterday was too nice for February but that warmth was much appreciated and enjoyed. I do not trust this weather. I still had my winter jacket on and one lady did not even have a sweater on.

AMY  wish you were my neighbor. I would like your company. I might them be the one getting some of the good food you share.

JOAN  I think I told you before-never say you are sorry for not being here at times. You do so much for us and you do have a life away from the computer. When a family member is there they are the ones you really want/need to spend time with.

JUNE  yesterday almost all of us had our windows open. Felt great getting fresh air in here. The manager will not let us open windows in the winter incase the heating elements freeze and crack.

JENNY  wonderful for Dr. Dave. Have a safe trip home.

JOAN  an elephant ear will hit the spot this morning. The sky is blue, the sun is shining so it is already a good day. Chuckles is just about right. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  cleaning the oven is not fun.

JANE  I heard you so here I am, had to sit down to shake a leg though.

LLOYD  hope that headache goes soon.

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful morning and we expect to get up to close to 80 today.  This morning I want to make Pat some more sausage muffins as she finished up her last two for breakfast this morning.  This evening is the United Methodist Men's monthly meeting.  We always have grilled steak or grilled chicken with a salad, potatoes fixed different ways, and a vegetable item.  Following dinner we have a speaker.  On Saturday I did complete my income tax forms but must wait for one final document to confirm the initial figures they provided and then will go over the returns again before submitting them.

JaneS, I had never really priced out the cost of our housekeepers on an hourly basis but guess it is in line with what they are charging in other locations.  We only have her come every other week and that works for us.  I hope you can find someone soon.

Hal, was glad to see you found your keys.  I hope your area escaped the storm down your way last night.  Our housekeeper does cleaning like yours and Pat has had her do the windows over a period of weeks, with one or two each time she comes.  She also will sweep out the garage if one of the cars is gone and the porch and patio.

deAngel, I remember one year when Buffalo had so much snow and hearing of people having to get on their roofs to get some of the snow off as it was so heavy it could come through the roof and do a lot of damage.

Amy, our current housekeeper also sits with a man who can't be left alone so his wife can get out occasionally.  She said she always brings him an ice cream treat that he likes.  She always says if we need anything to let her know as she leaves each time.  She is a nice lady who we trust and feel comfortable in leaving while she is here.

June, if you drink three or four cups of coffee a day the type of coffee maker you have is probably less expensive than the Keurig as the coffee pods it uses are not inexpensive.  However, in our case we were throwing out coffee.  I very seldom drink coffee and my wife likes one cup in the morning with her breakfast and sometimes a cup when we have a salad meal.

Jenny, I bet your dad enjoyed seeing all of your grand kids as you obviously did.  It sounds like a day you will remember for a long time.  Hope you have a good and safe drive home.  What an honor for Dr. Dave's clinic.

Amy, sometime ago my wife got a silicone liner to put on the bottom shelf of the oven.  If anything spills out you can just remove the liner and the material comes off easily and the liner is easy to wash.  Pat does get the Connecting Threads catalog so expect she is aware of the new backing and she does order from them on occasion.

Gloria, maybe you will be able to enjoy more time on the porch this year visiting with your friends there.

Sandy--

Good morning, Gloria.  When I talked to Jackie yesterday (Central NY) she also said it had been very warm for this time of year.  I will enjoy when Joe comes back Wednesday.

Larry--Good morning.  Your weather is much like ours today.

Good Morning Everyone!

Jenny, congratulations to you and Dr. Dave.  I have lots of admiration for wound doctors since I had the services of one here a few years back.  The new knowledge they have contributed to healing is outstanding.

Will be later.

Good Morning all, another cool and cloudy day in Stanton. I had a slow start this morning. My motor didn't want to kick in, so sleep overcame the second time around.
Finally got down for a bandage change……great news….no more bandage. I can heal the wound openly, but they want to see it again tomorrow.

I have a whole bunch of stuff from Amazon saying it is shipped, but some of the stuff will take two weeks to arrive. I joined Prime, and thought there was an advantage to it…but evidently in not all orders. I wish they were more obvious is what is Prime and what is not.

Nothing big is planned for today and I am content with that. My mind wants to go back to sleep again, so I will allow that to happen.

Jenny I am so happy for you to have had this great visit with family members. Your Dave sounds like the kind of doctor we would all like to have. You and Bob did a great job in raising your family.

Janie, I shook my leg, and it growled at me and said…"STOP IT ! and go back to bed."

Hal, my curiosity has got the better of me. I must go and look up "wound doctor". I seem to be attracted to wounding myself. I feel so free being Un-bandaged today, I am praying that I do no more accidents.

Time for another cup of coffee. My eyes want to go back to sleep.

June--That's GREAT news that you don't have to be bandaged.  As to Prime--items eligible for Prime say so next to them OR if they are inexpensive and deemed not worth being shipped alone, it will say "available as an add on".  You are correct that not all items are eligible for Prime.

angelface--Nice of you to get June a cup of coffee.:)

JUNE, next time, try shaking the other leg.  Or I'd let you off the hook and you can shake your hand!

I have the day off today.  No school and no work for Kiran's Auntie Greta so they are spending the day together.  I've had my nap and I brought supper home from Craig's birthday party last night thanks to my generous daughter, Cathy.  I guess I'll go put the dishes away from the DW.

It was such a beautiful day here today that I opened the windows and let all the winter blahs float off into infinity.  I hope they never come back.  After this beautiful prelude to Spring, I think I'll be able to weather whatever the Winter has left for us and trust in the coming of Spring!

Patricia, thank you…the extra "cup" helped a lot. Plus, I did fall off to sleep again while reading. Do you prefer to be addressed as Patricia or angelface ? They are both lovely names.

Janie, my hand would probably be the safest thing to shake, even shaking my head makes me dizzy. I just want to keep sleeping today.

Bis, thanks for the info on Prime. I really do like shopping with them. I ordered some groceries this time too.

The sun peeked through the clouds once or twice today, but it is remaining overcast now. Makes me shiver, and want to crawl back into bed.

I had two movies on today and I enjoyed both of them.  One was called SERGEANTS THREE and starred Frank Sinatra, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.  It was a comedy western.  The other one was John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara in THE QUIET MAN.

Now I'm ready to think about going to bed and it's really early for that.  I don't know why I'm so tired.

I made some of my calls to people who clean houses and I had to leave messages for 2 of them, one number was no longer in service and the other one didn't answer.  Finding someone in a small town isn't as easy as finding someone in cities, I think!

I'm going to bid you all GOOD NIGHT because if I fall asleep, I'll wake up in Zombieland and I don't communicate well from there.

So  Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

Amy:  I caught a glance of your quilt picture and now am trying to find it and blow up the picture so I can see it better.

We went to Kneader's today and Don had a half croissant with chicken/cranberry stuffing while I had the Irish Stew.  I had the leftovers tonight - that was so good.

JaneS.  Good wishes for you to find some very good help.

The guy who cleaned my apartment last month charged a flat fee of $25. an hour, but I see why so many recommended him. He was very organized, very fast and efficient and thoroughly cleaned my entire apartment, including walls and ceiling in three hours.

I can see using him once a year, but not on a steady basis. For what I need doing, fourteen or more an hour is too much on a fixed income. I would rather wait until I am forced to seek outside help.

Food For Thought

Whose Neighbor Am I?
By Arthur Schoonveld
Scripture Reading: Luke 10:25-37

The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
Luke 10:37
The teacher of the law who came to test Jesus was in for a surprise. Instead of engaging in a theological discussion about inheriting eternal life, the Lord asked a simple question, “What is written in the Law?” Without hesitation the legal expert answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Jesus then said, “You have answered correctly. . . . Do this and you will live.”
It’s that simple. But for some reason the teacher of the law wasn’t satisfied. So he asked, “And who is my neighbor?”
It’s a question worth asking. Are we to love all the people in our lives? Do I really have to love the unlovable people in my life? Do I have to love that disrespectful student in my class or that obnoxious person I work with? And do I have to love people who have made a mess of their lives?
In this parable the Lord points out that the real question is not “Who is my neighbor?” It’s real¬ly “Whose neighbor am I?” Am I willing to be a neighbor to whomever the Lord places on my path, and do I practice it by showing compassion and mercy?
That is a question we all need to answer. How do you answer it?
Lord our God, open our eyes and help us to know whose neighbors we are to be, and give us the grace to reach out in mercy and love. For Jesus’ sake, Amen.

Thought of the Day

The choice to rejoice leads to an attitude of gratitude.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I loved your offerings today, Joanie.  Especially the one about who my neighbor is.  Thank you for all your efforts on our behalf.

I get the impression that some of you think it's an indulgence to have someone come in and do some cleaning once or twice a month.  Maybe it is but if I do find someone to do some cleaning for me, I won't have to exhaust myself and I won't have to look at the big things that need doing and know that I am unable to do them.  I'm sure that's true of most who have people to do some of the chores for them.  I will continue to do what I'm able and if I do hire someone for help, I will consider it money well spent.  I have never had anyone to help do chores before since my kids were teens.  They began helping around the house as soon as they were big enough and they are all good housekeepers.  But they have their lives to live and I have mine.  If I have to give up something else in order to live in a clean house, I will do so.

I'll be off to WM this morning to meet my public.  I like my job and standing doesn't seem to be hard for me.  People are what makes life good.  I like to think I have some regular customers who would miss me if I wasn't there.

Right now it's only 28º but it's supposed to get into the 50s again today.  This is my kind of winter!  I wouldn't mind if it just stayed like this until May and then warmed up!

Make today a good one!

Good morning everyone..

The snow is taking a kicking here with the fantastic weather giving it a boot!!! Today we are to get rain so that too will put the run on it. We still have 2-3 feet of snow  so lots of water to go into the ground.

Hubby wants to get his hair cut today so off to the city we go.Chemo normally makes one lose their hair but with him it seems to grow faster???

Carol you made me hungry with the chicken and cranberry sandwich, gosh that sounds good!! If your talking about the green Irish chain as friend of mine is going to do one in soft pastel blues and yellows. Can't wait to see that one.

June, way to go..that must be so nice in not having a bandage on..now please please don't fall and get anymore owies!!!.

Jenny, how proud you must be of Dr Dave and what an accomplishment for all his hard work!

Joan ,thank you for breakfast..

Enjoy your day everyone.

No not an indulgence, just being smart looking after yourself! You work too hard as it is and this will give you more time to spend with your fur kids .Plus haven't you earned this treat? Aren't you worth it? You are doing the right thing ...so I do hope you find someone . Maybe ask at church if anyone knows of a person that does this??
Have a great day at work.

Good morning Janie.  Glad you enjoy the one about neighbors.  You certainly should have a housekeeper to do the things that you can't do or that are difficult to do.  For myself,  it's a necessity if I don't want to live in a pig sty.  I am physically unable to do the cleaning.  I hope all in your line at WM today are wearing smiles.

Amy--Good morning.  I am sure you are glad to have a reprieve from "dancing".  I lost all my hair with chemo, but I felt in the grand scheme of it all, that didn't matter.

Good Morning Everyone,  from the sunny but still cool,  rocky coast of Maine.

My date with Kelly yesterday had to be postponed until today.      So I jumped on the bus and went grocery shopping by myself.    (which I love to do occasionally because there is no  pressure...  ie I can take my time) ...

Kelly is coming today and I will get my INR taked and we will probably go "Good Will Hunting,  as I call it.)
She will be here in an hour.

As aging goes,  so do my expectations in life.    What once was,  may no longer be so....  My only choice is to accept those changes and make the best of them.

(With hopes that there will always be something to
"make the best of" )  So far,  that is working nicely for me!

Have a good day,  Everyone.

Good morning everyone, looks like another beautiful day is store for us today. Spent most of the day outside again yesterday.

LARRY  I have a 4 cup coffeepot and I get 2 mugs from it every morning. That is all the coffee I have every day.  Looks like more different people have been out on the porch enjoying the springlike sunshine. I mostly see some of them going out someplace or coming home but the last 2 days they have been on the porch.Even all winter I try getting out for a little walk every day. I would never be able to stay in this apartment every day without getting out every day.

JOAN  we have not had a lot of zero temperatures or that much snow either but getting out in the warmer days we have had this week have been great. Still wearing my winter jacket but without all the different layers underneath it. One more day and you will have Joe there again. Hope he can stay a little longer this time.

PHYLLIS  good seeing your wave.

HAL  for me it is a pain doctor that I had been looking for.

JUNE  I have had some mornings when I just want to go back to bed and to sleep the morning away.

JANE  the last 2 days I have opened my windows. Felt great to get some fresh air in here. No cross windows though and I do miss that. Just 2 windows on the same side. I watched The Quiet Man not long ago. Good movie with some good laughs.

JOAN  will pass on breakfast this morning and stick to oatmeal. Good chuckles. I copied Food for Thought. Like that a lot. Thank you for all today's goodies.

LLOYD  good morning.

JANE  there is so much I am no longer able to do I am glad I do have someone here 3 times a week. I do not feel guilty about it either. The nurse from my insurance wants someone here 5 times a week.

AMY  with all the different thingss you do I am surprised you never added cutting hair to your chores.

Hi everyone on another nice morning in South Carolina.  Pat has to have a medical test done at 10 am this morning and that will be all that requires us to be away from the house today.  I need to cut up some green onions later this morning.  We had an very pleasant men's meeting last evening.  The food was good and the speaker was a pharmacist that belong to our church who talked to us about Testosterone and the role that hormones play in our bodies and about the importance of certain minerals.  It was very informative.

June, great news on not having to have the daily bandage change as know that has been a hassle.

Carol, is Kneader's like a Panera Bread place?

JaneS, I certainly don't think it is an indulgence.  No one else knows what your needs are but most of us know how difficult some of the household cleaning choirs have become.  I do hope you can find someone soon.

Sandy, your picture has certainly changed.  I like your smiling one as this new one doesn't due you justice.

Gloria, it sounds like many of your residents there have gotten Spring fever and thus are enjoying being on the porch.

Good Morning Everyone!

Larry I certainly agree with you about help in keeping the house looking nice and clean.  No one, especially our age, should feel guilty about have help.  Men in a sense when they retire they actually do get away from their job, women on the other hand still do their same activities.  And I know my wife enjoys knowing she doesn't have to do the heavy lifting of cleaning under and around.  Although, got to laugh sometimes, on the days our cleaning lady is coming my wife is straightening , picking up and I ask her what she is doing, that Ada is coming and she just blows me off and she keeps on doing what she was doing.  Cant let a cleaning lady see she is untidy.... ;)

I also bought the robo cleaner because it saves having to vacuuming everyday, it does a good job of picking up the small stuff and keeping things looking good.

Hey and if you can afford it.  Enjoy, the kids will certainly enjoy your money after you are gone and they have the house and insurance and what cash you don't spend yourself.  My Dad always told us kids, he intended to spend every dime of our inheritance. And did a pretty good job of it.

Nice day here this morning, just talk to yard guy and he is coming tomorrow to clean the yard, time to starting thinking of springtime here.

God was certainly looking after us yesterday, not an injury or death in the tornado's.  The chalk it up to everyone being inside and asleep when they hit. Thank you God.

Bye.

Amy:  The only Irish Chain I sewed was three colors of Cranberry, a medium dark blue and cream.  That was my wedding present for our youngest son.  They still use it at times.

Yes, I do intend to get some help with housework some time - just hate spending the money but it is a realistic and necessary thing one of these days.  When we return home, the change to higher altitude always slows us down and I have thought about this year being a good time to get some help - especially going downstairs, etc.  We go from about 3,000 ft. to over 6,000 in our area and it is noticeable.  The boys were going to work on a bathroom project so I hope they have finished before we go home. Everyone travels so much.

We had a mess of dirt on the patio this morning.  Javelinas tipped over a pot of green succulent plants - they were a gift and so pretty.   Those pests!  Some of the mix was lost but I will try to save the rest of the group.

Chia:  I'll check it out.

Bis, I feel the Thought for the Day, was written for me. I had my first nice warm shower in two weeks and loved every minute of it. Got a final leg check, and unless it should bleed I don't have to return. Wheeeeeee.

Just had a call from my son Gary. He will come here an hour early tomorrow and take care of my mistake on ordering the wrong size coffee pot. I feel SO stupid but Gary assured me he has done the same thing in the past..I don't believe that, but he does have a manner of making me feel O.K.

Janie, I can think of no one that has more surely earned help from a housekeeper than you my dear friend. You are the only one of us still holding a steady job, the only one of us that I know of that owns two doggies which take constant care, so to have you squeeze the budget a bit and have help with a housekeeper, I am all for it.  Go for it girl !!!!!!! Somewhere out there in your neighbor hood is an older lady that would just love to be able to earn a bit of spending money. Have you considered running an ad in the local newspaper ?

Bis, you have a marvelous attitude in dealing with your ills, which are many and varied, I know. I am SO proud of how you just keep going ,in spite of the health issues. You are an heroic Soldier, in my book.

Sandy…you too have a great attitude. You have "overcome" many things, the stroke being the most disastrous.

Gloria, this was a banner morning for me, a nice hot, long shower, and no more bandage needed on leg. Yay !!!!!! Most days for me now require an extra nap or two. I really think it is a part of aging, which I would love to deny, but why lie to myself…I'm old, and will hopefully get even older. God willing.

Larry, I was surprised at how quickly I healed this time. Last wound took two whole months, and that ended when they gave me intravenous antibiotics. Maybe there was still some of that left over in my blood stream. Whatever…I am rejoicing. And I am giggling over what you told Sandy on the new picture….you better be ready to duck any flying objects coming your way, right Sandy ?

Hal, like your wife and like Bis, I too have to tuck extra "stuff" away till the cleaning lady leaves. Like a dirty plate or cup left in the sink, of too much "stuff" left on bathroom counter, like hair brush, spray…any thing that she would have to move to do the cleaning.

Chia, thanks for the invitation…I will check it out. If I didn't read and sleep so much I would spend a lot more time in games…..they keep the brain more exercised.

Chia--Participants who are interested will follow your link.

Carol--Good for you realizing you need some help with housework.  Those javelinas are downright pests.

June--I'm sure the shower felt wonderful.  Thank you for the complement.  I am no more heroic than others who have chronic maladies.  How nice  that Gary is going to fix your Amazon order for you.

I would love to have outside help as I get so dizzy when my blood pressure plummets. Sometimes I feel that if I lean just a little more right or left, that I will topple right over. However, I cannot afford to pay the prices asked in this city and I don't qualify for aid. Cleaning five rooms is no longer a daily chore but may take up to three days. When I was working I could have had help and now when I need it, I can't. it's as simple as that.

I am now thinking about bartering services.

Another Lost day... It was just morning a little while ago and now it is going on bed time, and I am pooped. I know I was here this morning, then I checked out some stuff on the computer, and all of a sudden it was lunch time and after lunch..of course I went to sleep.. woke up at 2:30 and made a rush trip downstairs for balance and mobility exercises, then decided to do a load of laundry, and now it is past supper time. We have a one butt laundry room and for the third time now I have had others come in and use the washer, while my stuff is in the dryer...grrrrrr.

I am heating up some left over chili for my supper, and then it will be off to an early bed. I hope to come in and say goodnight.

Food For Thought

The Waiting Father
By Arthur Schoonveld
Scripture Reading: Luke 15:18-32

This son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.
Luke 15:24
In his book The Return of the Prodigal Son, Henri J. M. Nouwen explains that the parable of the lost son sums up the story of salvation. The father in the parable is a picture of our heavenly Father, “who watches and waits for his children, runs out to meet them, embraces them, pleads with them, and urges them to come home.” The parable, Nouwen says, expresses “the boundlessness of God’s compassionate love.”
Where do you see yourself in this story? Are you like the wandering younger son, or the self-righteous older son? Or both? The parable is indeed the story of God’s amazing love as he welcomes us back, no matter where we have been or what we have done.
If at this moment you find yourself far away from God, he is waiting for you. If, like the younger son, you have turned away from the Lord, he invites you to come back. If you have become enslaved to some sin, he is urging you to confess and receive his forgiveness.
Or if, like the older son, your heart has not been right with God and, like the Pharisees, you have worshiped God with your lips while your heart was far from him and hard toward the undeserving, he invites you too to come back and celebrate with him.
Your Father is waiting for you!
Thank you, loving Father, for your love, patience, and compassion for each one of us, no matter who we are or what we have done. Thank you for ¬always taking us back. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought of the Day

“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity…and that mountain parks are useful not only as fountains of timber…but as fountains of life.”

Good morning everyone....

Well the rain put the snow on a weight loss program and down it went!! We still have a fair amount of snow about but they are calling for rain the next couple of days.
Taking our Golden girl to the vet later on today, she has a lump on her shoulder and another one starting , it could be just fatty tissue or a cyst but I want her checked out.

Will tidy up the house ,fill the wood box this morning then get ready to go to the vet,she is a 40 min drive but well worth it.
She reminds me of my country vet I had while farming..takes time with your animals plus chats with you!

Hear my washer calling me!

Joan thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Today is errand day for me, and the forecast is for rain all day.  I'll have to scurry through the rain.

Good morning Everyfriend!  I loved the offerings today.  Like Jackie, I've always liked John Muir.  And the story of the Prodigal Son has also had meaning for me.  As a child, I was the family rebel and it always gave me comfort to know that no matter what, my family and my Lord would always be there.

Amy, my little white Scottie has a lump on her chest that fits in the palm of my hand.  When I discovered it, it scared the heck out of me.  I took her to the vet immediately and they did testing and checked it out thoroughly and then my favorite gal told me there was nothing to worry about.  She has no idea what her words meant to me!  We check it periodically and it hasn't grown and it doesn't seem to bother Annie but whenever I feel it, I get a twinge.

My day is wide open today until 2 o clock when I'll be getting ready for my evening at work.  I'm rather enjoying these different hours.  I've seen some people that I don't get to see when I just work mornings.  Several people have told me that they thought I'd retired since they never see me any more.  It's kind of nice to make a change.

Have to go feed the doggies shortly.  I'm putting them off a bit this morning since they don't get supper until I get home from work shortly after 7.

Make today a good one, Everyfriend!

Good morning everyone, had some showers overnight and no sun this morning. Latest on local news, someone used fake $50 bills at a fast food restaurant. Seems the bills are sold online and say for motion pictures only and on the left side say this is not legal tender. He did this 3 times at the same drive in window. On the third time he was arrested. It took them that long to realize the bill was fake.

JOAN  hope Joe does not do that 10 hour drive without stopping to move around some.

LARRY  the forecast is for cooler today are supposed to be in the upper 50's the next 2 days. I sure do not trust this weather.

HAL  the girl that comes here is a CNA but does the same things a housekeeper does. She gives my back a good massage  when she comes and does the laundry, cleaning and goes to the market if I need anything. On days when there is not much for her to do she can cook something. She was just a housekeeper when she first came here but took the classes for CNA and can do different things to help her clients now. She has been coming here for more than a year now. Glad no tornado got to you or anyone else.

JUNE  most days I lay on the couch for at least 30 minutes just to rest my back but seldom fall asleep. I sleep good most nights and since getting outside so much this week I have been going to bed early, cannot keep my eyes open. Like you I like a hot shower, like to let the water just beat on my back.

PATRICIA  if my insurance did not cover the help I have I would not be able to afford it. Where my daughter now lives out in the boonies they do a bit of bartering.

JOAN  will enjoy breakfast. Chuckles, like the third one. I have to start reading over what I write. Misspelled words are not good. Food for Thought is just that.and looks like my daughter and SIL must have read that John Muir quote. My oldest grandson loves his paintings. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  hope that lump is nothing bad.

JANE  nice to see those you have not seen in awhile and know they missed you.

JANE S....

...you know what I am going to say, dont you.....please, please do keep an eye on that lump, and do keep getting it checked...We were told the same, way back at our old vets, as long as a year ago...Like you I came away from that surgery telling the lady vet, ok, that's good, it is harmless, nothing to worry about then, even after three consecutive months of being monitored...little did I know later down the line, at our new vets, I would be eating those words....Well you know the story, never knew a harmless lump could turn into such a fatal lump in what seemed like a short period....the lump had gone from a soft to a hard...I am sure your white Scottie is clear, but just heed my warning - my words...

Hi everyone.  It looks like we had a little rain during the night.  When I went to the mailbox this morning I saw that my yard is beginning to green up a bit.  It will get into the low 70's again today.  Pat has her last PT appointment at eleven this morning.  This evening is our Wednesday night dinner at church. I don't think Scott will probably attend but Jennifer is planning to come and home dinner with me and the group. Scott apparently has some type of viral infection and went to see the doctor Monday.  He must have been feeling better last evening as he did go to work. We hope at least Jennifer will come on out to house after dinner.  That will be it for today.

Hal, I had to chuckle about your wife picking up before the cleaning lady arrives.  I must admit I do the same especially beside my bed, my easy chair and in my office.  I know I don't have to do these things but I don't mind and it makes her job a little easiser plus things don't get misplaced.

Carol, once you get a housekeeper you will probably ask yourself why didn't I do that earlier.  You would have had more time for quilting.  :)

June, it isn't difficult to return things to Amazon and they simply take the return shipping cost, when it isn't their error, from the refund.  I try to keep in mind that these things aren't that important in the long run so why worry about them.  Glad you are through with the bandages.

Amy, hope it is nothing serious with your Golden Girl.

JaneS, nice that folks missed you when you were not at your morning shift.  Glad you are enjoying your new time to work.

Gloria, I would say the fast food restaurant had some employees who were not paying attention to their work.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well today is starting the way you always want most days.  Good.   Wife is feeling better and I called for an appointment and got one in a time period that I wanted.  I have missed my mens group the last three Thursdays and I am looking forward to seeing the group again tomorrow.

Larry, with all the rain and lighting we got the other night my backyard is really greening up and the winter rye (volunteer) is rearing its head and making thing look pretty ragged.  My yard guy will be here this afternoon to clean things up.

My back continues to be improved, is that proper language?  Anyhow it still feels better and my walking is better.  I did have a little of the old pain and walking late yesterday, I have been trying to keep things picked up for my wife, including cleaning in the kitchen and I took so garbage out to the can at the curb and I just plain got tired out walking back in the house.  I think my problem is muscle strength.  I did so little for so long that I have lost the tone and strength in my muscles.  But now that I can walk without all the pain maybe I will (and I will) move around move and hey I don't even use my cane now.   Thank you God.

Well, got my bill paid, and said hello to my cyber family, so I will move along and let you all have some rest.

About the lumps on dogs.  When my Pup was really just past being a pup she developed a lump on her hip and we had it removed, big mistake,  we almost lost her because she was allergic to the stitches and the wound rejected them and vet put metal stitches and that tore open and vet took her in to keep an eye on her, she stopped eating and lost so much weight we thought her bones were going to come through the skin.  We told vet take everything out and the cone off and we bought some bitter apple spray so she wouldn't lick it and we brought her home, kept it sprayed and it looked terrible, but we persisted and she finally healed, she gained her weight back, she has a terrible scar on her hip, but she is the same old pup we had and she is spoiled rotten, just the way we want her.

Oh, the reason we had him remove the lump.  She wouldn't leave it alone and kept it raw licking.  knowing what I know now, the Bitter Apple would have been used.

It's been really pouring all morning.  I am not complaining, because we need it so bad.  I had to sit a few times and wait until it let up enough for me to scurry into the stores where I needed to go or I would have gotten drenched.  Wouldn't you know I forgot my umbrella--dahh.

Jackie, thank you for the reminder about the lump.  When she checked it in her lab she said that they didn't see anything to worry about but she sent samples to a national lab and didn't truly commit until those results came back.  She called me herself to tell me that they didn't find anything to be worried about.  Every time she goes in for anything, they take another sample and test it.  I do truly trust my vet.  There is one closer to me but I've been going to this one for a lot of years and it's difficult to change.

The sun is shining here and the temp is51 heading for a high of 61.  These days are surely a GIFT and I'm enjoying them as such.

Made some more phone calls today and there is a young fellow coming over to assess some repairs that need doing and give me a cost estimate.  That's something I don't need!

I'm trying to ignore the doggies who are here asking for a snack because I want to feed them right before I go to work so they aren't hungry while I'm gone.  I don't know how long I can ignore their foot-shifting and their soft begging moans.  It's so hard not to laugh at them and if I do, I'm lost!  I can see them out of the corner of my eye just staring at me!

OK that's it, I laughed and I looked directly at them!

I'm off to Wally World to meet and greet and serve my public.  Wish me smiles!

Did all the necessary stuff that morning calls for and waited for my Gary to arrive. He packed up the coffee pot, and said he would order a four cup for me. What a Blessing that boy is. He had a huge crowd at his Bible program today and was well appreciated. He is personality plus, but retains the essential humility. I would love him even if he didn't belong to me.

Now it is nearing my eating time at the small dining room, so I shall close this and be on my way, and then will come a nice long peaceful nap, then hopefully I will feel awake again. I love you all. :smitten:

I'm home and I'm tired!  The doggies met me at the door, ran outside and then right back in and into the kitchen to remind me they were hungry.

We had some repair people working on some of the registers tonight and I had to move because something on my assigned register wasn't working.  One of the supervisors remarked that "Nothing works around here any more."  I waved my hand in the air and said "I DO".  Even the customers laughed!

Janie, good reply to that supervisor!! I would love to have been one of your customers.

I had a nice lunch, I came home, I opened a book and I slept. Had a note in my mail box, saying a purchase from Amazon was waiting for me at the desk. So I treked on down to find that a miniature palm I had purchased had arrived . So....I replanted it in a large pot, which is now residing in my bathroom sink, slurping up an necessary water the mix needs. It is a lovely little plant and I am glad I gifted myself with it.

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

We made it home safe and sound late yesterday afternoon spending the night in Santa Fe, N.M.  We both just collapsed, we were so exhausted.  Seems one can hold up for just so long, then we are done.

Our oldest Son, Kurt was in town, so came by the house for breakfast this morning.  It was great to see him and we had a short but enjoyable visit.  He went out to get in the rental car to head to the airport, only to discover the keys were locked in the vehicle.  He was standing out side of it talking on his phone and heard it lock.... he and Bob tried all the old tricks to try to get in to it to no avail.  The locksmith arrived and was in the vehicle in 5 minutes. $270. Worth!  Can you believe it?  Wow!  Anyway, we were concerned about him getting the car turned in and getting to his flight, so we followed hi to the rental place then drove him to the airport.   He has a terrible head cold and I was worried about him flying, but he said it went well and his ears did not bother him too much.

We got home and pretty much did very little the rest of the day.  Just paperwork and the like.

Kurt called to let us know that he arrived safely and was able to pick up the rental van that he will be loading with some items that the movers could not take.  He and the two dogs will take off tomorrow and head for their new home in Boston.  Heidi and the boys will fly there on Friday.

My thanks to all of you and your very kind words about Dr. Dave's accomplishments.  Yes, indeed, I am very proud of him.  I especially loved your comments, JANIE. How sweet.

I must admit that it was really hard for me to leave my dad this time.....  each time I do, I always hope it will not be the last time I see him.  This time I REALLY felt that way.  Dad has really slowed down and is just not himself.  It sure is hard to be so far away from him.

JOAN, I hope Joe made it back and you two were able to enjoy a nice time together tonight.

I must head off to bed.  Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Waking up to Storm Doris this morning, well rather woke up to Toby's one bark to let us know he wants to go out to do toilet, R beat me to the kitchen door, but as he has gone back to bed, I am up as usual, this is my normal time anyway...
I certainly could hear the strong winds through the night, and I can certainly hear them now, dont yet know what if any damage it has done, is doing but winds could well get up to 80 miles per hour in some regions, maybe 60 in ours, so the forecasters say...Link...

Healthful Place

Mr. Peterson, a tourist from Toronto, arrived in Barbados. In an airport taxi cab, Peterson asked the driver, "Say, is this really a healthful place?"

"It sure is," the cabby replied. "When I arrived here I couldn't say one word. I had hardly any hair on my head. I didn't have the strength to walk across a room, and I had to be lifted out of bed."

"That's wonderful!" said the tourist, "How long have you been here?"

"I was born here."

Food For Thought

This Is What I've Been Looking For
(By Chris Long)

This is what I've been looking for,
This is what I have sought,
to know deep down and really grasp,
that I am loved by God;

By my Creator that made me,
And cherishes who He made.
Oh my heart, rejoice in love,
no longer be afraid.

I am a child of God;
I'm an heir with Jesus Christ.
I receive my inheritance purchased for me
by my Savior's sacrifice.

I have been set free;
I am no longer bound.
All blessings are mine in Christ,
I receive my royal crown.

For I am royalty by my new birth,
born into a royal family.
I receive all the promises that are mine,
By the position bestowed to me.

And I know all things are possible,
Yes I can do anything.
There are no limitations,
for children of the King.

And I rejoice and lift my hands,
and I bow in humility,
with gratefulness to this One
who has so loved me.

This is what I've been looking for,
Yes this is what I have sought,
to know deep down and really grasp,
Oh I am loved by God.

Good morning everyone..

Raining here and very foggy too. We are off to the city for chemo, today marks the half way point!!

Our trip to the vet was not a happy one...our Golden Girl has a rare form of cancer, good part is we caught it early and next Tue she will have her lumps removed. This will give her 3 more years which at 12yrs now is good..

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

I had better get a move on as we will be leaving soon, hope I don't have to take a knife with me to cut through the fog.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Oh, Amy, I'm so sorry that your doggie's lumps were not benign!  I was so hoping they would be.  We seem to suffer so when our doggies suffer!  You can take comfort in the fact that it was discovered early and that he/she has led a loved and cherished life and will continue to do so.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's rainy and foggy here, too.  But I don't have to go anywhere until it's time to pick up Kiran at the bus.  Maybe it will burn off before that.

Jenny, your son certainly had a difficult time with the car.  I hope the rest of their move goes smoothly.

I'm not sure what I'll get into today but tonight, my neighbor friend and I are going to the movies.  My grandson gave me two movie tickets for Christmas and he included 2 popcorn tickets and two drink tickets.  So we're going to use them tonight to see a movie called LION.  I looked it up and it looks good.

I hope you all have a great day today filled with whatever strikes your fancy.

Hi everyone on a bright and sunny morning.  I have a busy morning planned with my usual coffee with friends and then the Wisdom Group.  After that I will stop at Walmart to pick up an online grocery order and then a stop at Aldi's for some items.  That will be plenty for today.  Jennifer did join me for dinner at the church last evening and then came out to the house for awhile.  We had a nice visit.  Scott had gone to work to repay the lady who had worked for him on Monday night.

Hal, great to see that your back is so much better.

Joan, I thought we were going to get rain yesterday but it never developed after the early morning showers.

I decided to give you all a break and forego my usual comments as don't have much time.  I have to reboot my gateway as Pat can't get her new printer back online.

Good morning everyone, still snowing here in a still warm Interior and Farrah is enjoying her breakfast and a morning treat!

I hope Jackie soon turns up to let us know she is okay and that Doris didn't live up to her forecast!

Good Afternoon, Everyone from the sunny and cool but lovely,  rocky coast of Maine.

Hi Joan.    I hope that you enjoyed your visit with your Son before he had to start that long trek back to Alabama...

I have been out for a walk down town and a stop at the
Thrift store down stairs.      It is going to be a nice day
with temps up into the 50's .....    Yeah!

Hi angelface.

Sandy--You're having nice weather for a walk.  Joe had a 10 hour drive ahead of him.

Joan, Joe's 10-hour drive is the bad part of his visit.  I would never have been able to do that alone.  It took me 5 1/2  hours to drive to Indianapolis (260 miles) and that was as much as I could do.  I don't envy Joe with that drive.  But I know it was nice for you to be able to see him.

Jenny dear, your emotional area must be on over-load at this time. Leaving your
Dad, home to more frustrations, and sons visit, which I know is always a treat, but still some tiring, testing moments. I hope you and Bob can have next week free, just for the two of you.

Jackie, sounds like the winds we had last week moved over to your area.Ours were forecast at 60 also, and rain came at the same time, so it was an exciting storm.

Bis, I really laughed at today's Chuckles..sounds like all of us at one time. Probably a jolt to the Canadian. And a wise quote from one of my favorite authors..C.S.Lewis.

Amy, I am sorry about your Golden girls' diagnosis. I just pray you can have her for a few more years, and that she suffers no pain.  We suffer with them, I know.

Larry, you have a busy morning planned for your self. Enjoy!

Lloyd, can't you take a  pain killer for those head aches, or are they the results of your last injuries. I pray the Good Lord keeps you from any more disasters to your poor head.

Gloria, I hate it when I lose a post by some action I took. And trying to go back and repeat ot all is nearly impossible….and boring for me. I sound so dull the second time around.

Bis, it always takes me time to settle back after one or more of my beloved kids has been here. I want to review and hold close our discussions. I hope you had a precious visit…they seem to come so seldom, even though mine live nearby, they are busy with their own lives, and that is as it should be. We have been there and done that.

Sandy, oh, that Grandbaby is such a doll. I would love to give her a gentle hug. and perhaps play "patty-cake".

My morning has been very restful…checked some things that I'm expecting from Amazom, and ordered a couple more things I really need and have been neglecting the choosing necessary. So much checking out before making a decision. I get a severe pain on the ball of my foot…the metatarsal bone, so finally bought what I know will help.

My doctor wants me to buy some knee socks to give my bony legs some padding against any more bangs, cuts and bruising. What I have seen so far I don't like, so I will keep looking. She is looking into a different solution medically to help my body retain salt. My kidneys are disposing of it before I get the benefits needed. I was happy to see I had gained a pound. Up to 111 now.

A busy afternoon coming up, I hope I don't fall asleep before getting down stairs to enjoy the offerings.  :sleepy:

Joan, I made one stop about half way from Grand Rapids to Indy - at a Mc Donald's where I bought a hamburger and shake and made a pit stop.  I took the food to my car and ate it on the way south.  I stopped at the same place coming north.  I wasn't exhausted by the trip, but I did not want to do much the evening I got there.  I'd start about 10 am and get to Jim's about 3 to 3:30 pm.  In 2008 I scared Jim when I told him I wasn't going to drive down any more.  He was afraid I wasn't going to go down at all.  I told him I would fly down, which I did until he died.  I drove on State roads and they were a much easier drive than Interstates.

June--Joe and I had a good visit.  I understand they can't come too often.

Mary Ann--You've got more "go power" than I do.  I couldn't drive that far.  Also, I have to have a nebulizer treatment every 3 hours, and can't do that with no electricity in the car.  Flying is out because of the oxygen--so guess I am doomed to stay put.

A good Thursday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND!

JACKIE, I was not aware of your storm.  I do hope you did not, and will not have a damage from Doris.

AMY, I am sad to read the news that the Golden Girl will have to have the lumps removed as they are cancerous.  I certainly wish her well and hope she can enjoy her life for a good time to come.

LARRY, I always smile when I read that Scott, Jennifer, or both have joined you for dinner and a visit.  Special times they are.

MARYANN, I am always amazed at how many women are out driving alone on the highways.  Bless them and more power to them.  One lady in particular we saw and waved at a few times as either of us passed one another had Minnesota plates on her car.  She seemed very happy and capable.

I do most of the driving.... but must admit I do not know if I would take off on a long drive on my own.

Thank you, JUNE.  Your kind and special words always make me smile.  I hope you can find the needed sox that will help protect your knees.  I think you might need soccer pads!   Take care my dear friend....

JOAN, I know you will be on edge until you hear from Joe, that he is safely home.  We just can't help but be.  My oldest is loading the truck today with the things the movers would not take as well as the two BIG poodles.  He wants to take off later this afternoon, on his journey to Boston, after he finishes the loading....I wish he would just start early in the AM after a good rest..... he has so much pressure in his head from a cold....makes mama worry, ya know?  Thank you for your nice offerings today.  Enjoyed them as always.

GLORIA, I am sorry you lost your post...love reading what you have to say, ya know?  It sure is frustrating to say the least!

SANDY, enjoy your nice day.  It was 73 yesterday, and we have snow today.

Are any of you watching the live feed from New York, of April, the Giraffe about to give birth?   I just can't keep my eyes off of it..... hope she gets the birthing done today.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Jenny

Good afternoon everyone.  Well been pretty busy, went to my men's bible study and breakfast and it was very enjoyable and great to see everyone.

Then went by drug store and picked up a couple of prescriptions for the wife and came home, garage door wouldn't open and thought power failure, I was right.  So parked in drive way and acted like a normal person and walked in the front door.  Then did a dumb thing.  Went out into garage and took it off the opener and opened it by hand, boy have I lost strength.  I did get it up, but my back complained.  At any rate electric finally came back on and reset everything and then wife came in and told me her IPad wasn't connecting, I checked hers and mine and neither of them were.  So I came in to computer room and everything was dead as a doorknob, never dawned on me electric had gone back off, it had and dummy that I am I got down on all fours and checked all the power cords and Yeah, you guessed it, I couldn't get back up, so had to get over to the bed and pull the upper part of my body up on it and then I managed to get myself up.  Boy, I have to get some strength back in my legs.

I am sure you all were setting with baited breath to hear my tales of woe.

Jackie, happy to hear no damage at your house from the storm.  Winds can be mean things and do a lot of damage.

Hope all of you are having a great day.

Amy, sad news about your pup.  Something you didn't need at this particular time in life.  Hopefully they can give you more than three years.   God has his way of doing things.

Hal, I'm sorry, but I had to laugh at your comings and goings with the appliances and electricity.  I was trying to relocate some pots and pans to a low cupboard the other day.  Getting down or up is very hard on me, but Tom has trouble getting down too, so I decided to tackle it.  In the first place, it nearly killed my knees and I couldn't bear being down more than a couple of minutes.  Then I couldn't get up.  If I had been able to get back on my hands and knees, I could have pulled myself up by the countertop, but I couldn't.  So I called Tom who got me up.

As far as driving as I did to Indy, if you want to do something bad enough, you will find a way.  I understand, Joan, why you can't, but there was nothing wrong with my health, my car was in good shape and I tried to pick a good day for traveling.  I could get to Indy on a tank of gas and would refill after I got there for the trip back.  And I took state roads instead of the Interstate.  I had taken the Interstate a couple of times but I didn't like the feeling of having to push because of the traffic.  It was 310 miles to Indy by way of the Interstate and took 5 1/2 hours and it was 260 by way of state roads and took 5 1/2 hours.  In 2008 I knew I was getting too old to do that so had to fly.  I choose not to fly now, but if I want to go a great distance (we flew to California in late 2014) I fly.  I try to be sensible about it and not let fear take over.  I'm not a brave person, but I'm not a scaredy-cat, either.

Now, I would not attempt a trip that Sandy took a few years ago.  To me, she was brave!!!

Jenny--I haven't heard from Joe yet.  He should be an hour or so from home.  I understand your wishing your son would wait until morning until starting his long trek to the Boston area.  Mothers always worry.:)

halkel--Except for Bible Study you just didn't have a good day.  You should be taking things easy with that back.

Mary Ann--You're right about doing something you want very much to do. I'll figure out a way.

I wouldn't attempt it now but I made 6 trips from PA to Texas with just my doggie.  I always took 3 days finishing the last part of the trip in 5 or less hours.  The first two days, I did 7 or 8 and I never drove at night.  It wasn't that difficult and I did it because I knew I would need my car when I got there.  I was going because I was the summer caregiver for my two granddaughters and I was also the one who was responsible for getting them to swim practice.   They both swam on teams.

One of the perks was an overnight with my cousin's son in Kentucky and one time, dinner with our own dear Bis/Joanie in Arkansas.    One year my son went with me and had a visit and then flew home and once my daughter flew down, had a visit and came home with me and once the girls came up with me to help celebrate my sister's 50th wedding anniversary.  Their parents flew up and they all went home together.

Gotta run!  My friend and I are going to the movies.  My grandson gave me 2 movie tickets for Christmas and I'm taking Mavis.  We're going to see LION!

Jane, you were more daring than I was,  however, you were younger.  I drove down to Indy several times in the late 1990s but didn't start up again until 2004 when I was 80.  I would not have made an overnight trip and all of my trips were in the daytime.  If any driving was to be done at night, I let someone else do it.  I'm chicken in that respect.

Jenny, it is not my knees that get banged up it is my lower legs. By knee socks I meant the socks the reach to the knee. One of the Nurses here gave me a good idea though. She buys leg warmers, like the ballet dancers use, for her grandmother, who suffers from very cold legs. So I intend to look into getting some of those.  I pray your son makes the trip easily and safely dear. We can't help but feel concern, even with prayers. He may have less traffic leaving at that time of the day.

Hal, welcome to the crowd of many of us that act first, and think later…much to our own dismay. Reading your message now, I purposely laid down on the floor, since I have not done that for about a month now. Rolling from my back to my side was the hard part. Once I got face down on the floor pushing my self up was easy. But I am amazed at how much more effort it took than when I practiced doing it frequently. Maybe it is time to forget trying to do stuff and just let age take over.

Time to eat some supper, and maybe go to a prayer meeting tonight. We'll see what the body says as the time draws near.

MaryAnn, I always had a reservation so I knew where I'd be staying at night and I never drove after dark or before dawn.  Both dogs that went with me different times were good travelers and they made it necessary to stop often.  Bonny would drink water in the car but she wouldn't eat so I had to make sure to stop to feed her.  Annie ate and drank in the car.  Annie will be 12 this summer and the first trip she made with me, she was 2 so that was 10 years ago this coming summer. I was 72!

I'm off to bed now.  I have to work tomorrow so I'll say...

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

CHUCKLES

Round of Golf

Two men were playing a round of golf one day. Just as they were about to start one of the holes, a funeral procession went by on the road beside the course. One of the golfers, Clyde, takes off his cap and stands with his cap to his chest, and waits for the entire procession to go by. He then puts his cap back on and proceeds to tee off.

"Gee Clyde, that was a very nice gesture on your part. It was very thoughtful and respectful of you to do that," his friend said.

"Well," Clyde replied, "I was married to her for 30 years, it was the least that I could do."

Food For Thought

Lying at the Gate
By Arthur Schoonveld
Scripture Reading: Luke 16:19-24

At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table.
Luke 16:20-21
In 1873, at the age of 33, a Roman Catholic priest named Damien came to a small Hawaiian island. According to the story, the island had become a place where the local government sent its lepers. Like Lazarus, they were forced to live “outside the gate.” In imitation of the Lord Jesus, Father Damien went to live with the lepers and identified with them. Sixteen years later he himself died of leprosy.
Most of us will probably never be asked to minister to lepers in the way Father Damien did. But it does not take a visit to a leper colony or a mission trip to an impoverished country to find people like Lazarus.
In the news we see refugees fleeing for their lives. We meet people in need when we visit a homeless shelter. We meet others in need when we encounter people who are looked down on because they don’t fit in or because they are not considered to be productive members of our society.
It’s up to us who have been blessed with plenty to reach out to people who are lying at our gate. We are to pray for them, support the different agencies that minister to them, and volunteer if we are able.
Ask the Lord today and every day to show you ways to reach out to people who need help.
Lord God, open our eyes so that we can see the people who are lying at our gate, and move us to help. For Jesus’ sake, Amen.

Thought of the Day

Hi everyone.  We are headed for an 82 degree day and it is nice and sunny this morning.  Other than the housekeeper coming this morning I have nothing on my calendar for today or tomorrow so hope to get rested up. I do have to work on Pat's new printer to find out why it won't stay on line or immediately print when something is sent to it although it indicates it is printing.   I didn't get home yesterday until about 2 pm and was exhausted the rest of the day.  However, I was able to accomplish what I had set out to do.

I didn't write much today as see others have already made the comments I likely would have made.  However, appreciate all of the postings.

June, the leg warmers should like a good idea as would be more padded likely than just socks to protect our legs.

Good morning everyone, another springlike start to the day. Yesterday was another stay outside day. Might as well enjoy it while we can. Rain due to come in tomorrow afternoon with a cold front.

JOAN  I know you enjoyed the brief time with Joe.

JUNE  I sound boring to me all the time.

MARY ANN  there was a time I loved to drive and did not care how far. As long as someone was with me if going to someplace new. I relied on them to read road signs.

JENNY  every time my daughter and family drove here from California I was worried and when they left to go back it was the same. She knows me and would call as soon as they got in. When any family member travels I am relieved when they arrive home.

HAL  if I got down on the floor for anything I would need help to get up.

JUNE  all my socks, even the knee socks for the winter months are wool. No they are not itchy. I got all of them from Sierra Trading Post online. They are a bit expensive but they last for years. I did learn not to put them in the dryer. I  put them over the bars in the shower to dry. Even in the summer I have the short ones and all my socks are wool and bought from there. No more cotton socks for me.

HAL  if you find a lazy persons way to get back into shape you better let us know how. There used to be a lady who came here for an hour on Monday morning. She had exercises for seniors, some sitting and some standing. She gave us a good workout but her husband got sick and she had to stop coming.I would love being able to walk on my own or even with a cane but have to rely on the rollator to get around.

JOAN  I woke hungry this morning so a full breakfast will be much appreciated. Lying at the Gate sure makes one think. Thank you for all today's goodies.

GLORIA de  goodness it has been years since I even thought of Ovaltine. I hope you got more sleep.

AMY  wow a day to stay home for you is a day to jump for joy.

LLOYD  sorry you aggravated the bees and got stung. Next time wear protection.

Good afternoon Everyone,  from the warmer but wetter,  rocky coast of Maine.    Looks like we are going to be getting rain for a while.

All is well here.    My last year of driving was spent on the road around the USA,  and I will never regret it.

All the time I was gone I slept in my van.   Never once did I stop at a motel or hotel.    This is one way to travel and see the country.    I planned to do it before I turned 70,   and that was probably a good thing.

I have no regrets other then I should have paid more attention to properly taking my meds,   and I spent too many days traveling 8-10 hours straight.    With very little stopping to get out and walk around.
The consequences of that were dire.
But I still do not regret spending  that year, on the road.

Since I no longer can see well enough to drive,  I do enjoy watching YouTube and see other peoples adventures.

My best wishes go out to all of you who can still veture out and hit the road...

Sandy

Good afternoon, sun shinning, no wind not even a cloud in the sky. I have been setting on my back porch with a reading of 70 yes 70 and it is still Feb.

Well, I finally went to sleep around 6:30 and woke up at 9:15.

Gloria, when I was brought up on Ovaltine then it was not flavored. My mother would not let me have coffee until I was 15, 16 seem to be the magic number with my mother. then I was allowed Tangee Lipstick, and to use perfume Evening in Paris

June, I was told to get Dr. Scholl's knee socks, which now wear in the winter.  It is in the summer I seem to cut my legs.  The nurse said I have onion skin.  Very thin

Amy I am so glad you do not have to go out to day.

Larry, just take it easy.  the doctor told me I would have good days and bad, and I do understand what he is saying.  To day, I did not go to Homemakers as I did not feel up to it.  I hope I feel good next Thursday as I have my first Red Hat Luncheon, at and Irish Pub. Monday is my trip to the Hematologist.

Been reading about driving & took time out to thank God that I can still drive to take cats & enjoy the mountains and going back home to MO.   I know there will come a time I can't, and I hope I will be as graceous as all of you that don't fight the terms of growing older. You all are great role models for rebels like me.  If I hadn't joined Senior Net in time to catch Bobbie & then Dapphne on their trek around the US, I probably wouldn't have known it was possible.

Hal, you really had me banging my head on the floor, "ain't I learned you anything???"  All my preaching about keeping strong & then you just get yourself back to feeling good & go lift that heavy door & mess your body up again!!  We do have to work every day to keep the muscles strong, but can't do it in a day!  Tsk, tsk.  Glad those storms didn't hit you.

Jackie, glad you didn't get any damage from the storms, either, I read about it on the computer but we don't get a lot of "outside" news here in the center of the US.  Are you ready for spring?  I remember all the flowers for sale in the spring & everyone I knew had some for the table.  Think they were brought from the countries that warmed up earlier, it is such a happy memory.

Amy, I am so sorry your pup & you are dealing with more cancer.  Hopefully the years will be pain free.  Would you believe this is the 2nd year I haven't even started my snow blower?  YET!

Jenny, love hearing about your family, all their moves & successes.  I check Monarch Pass  view cam every day to see if it is snowing.  Plenty of moisture for the trees this year, right?  I know how tough it is every time you have to leave your father, just love him while you can.

Gloria, I'm so happy your back is enough better you can enjoy being out on the porch.  Won't be long you & I will be begging for cool weather again.

Well, I have to get off here, took time out to scratch my eyes, allergies are over the top & being on the computer or watching TV irritates the eyes & the bags under them are so swollen I will trip over them if I'm not careful.  Heard quite a few people died from the flu so far & now allergies hit when the bodies are already down, may be a rocky spring.

Linedancer, my Fitbit tells me I got a few minutes shy of 3 hours sleep last night & I came in to take a nap but got side tracked.  Hope you get rested, I will have to stay away from the computer & either sleep or keep busy so I can't scratch my eyes.  Good luck!

Joan, glad Joe was there for a short visit, it's good to see them, no matter if just a few minutes.  Thanks for keeping us all shaped up, even when you have company!

Hello from cold and still dreary looking Colorado.  It is suppose to clear up today but there have still been a few flakes ah falling!

It took Dr. Dave nearly 4 hours to get home from work last night.  It was a ice rink out there.  His normal commute is about 30 minutes.

Kurt is progressing along his drive just fine.  He is in PA and says it is beautiful there.  No details, but then added he wished he was doing pretty much anything rather than driving!  Haha. I told him I could sure relate!  The family flew from Chicago to Boston this morning....lucky them.

I ASKED YESTERDAY if any of you were watching the Giraffe that is being watched as she gives birth?  I have been keeping an eye on her.

So good to see your post, SHIRLEY.  I have been thinking about you and wondering how you were getting on?

LLOYD. LLOYD.  LLOYD!  My goodness, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH YOU?  Your poor head!

JUNE, hope you figured out your sock needs....

GLORIA,  we are much luckier these days though with the cell phones to keep in touch.  Back in the day the only thing we could do was check in to let loved ones know we were home safe and sound.  I do not call the kids when they are driving as I do not want to distract them, but always tell them if they want to talk that I am here.

SANDY, your memories are awesom...well until you got sick.....but what a wonderful experience you enjoye.

AMY, happy to read you can enjoy a day at home.

We must head out this evening....so hope the roads improve.  We are staying with the grands while mom and dad go to a money making event at their school.  It is a fancy wing ding!  They are calling it a GALA!  Dress up occasion.  I will gladly stay home with the kids...been to those things back in the day and they rob you blind with their silent auctions.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of your day.

Jenny

Hal..I talk a good game…must be the Irish part of me..full of blarney. I woke in the middle of the night with a pain in my back. Thought about it. "Yes, June, when you turned on that hard floor to get back on your hands and knees, you had a pain in your lower back." From now on, I will stop acting like a young person, and if I should end up on the floor I will wait to have some one help me get up. So my dear friend, I am nobodies' hero, just  an old lady that is still learning things.

Gloria de..me too. Had a miserable night, so canceled a few things I had planned to do today. Which worked out well, as my housekeeper had to roll me out of bed…I finally fell into a deep sleep, and she needed to do her work. Then I had a nice surprise visit from my son Gary. He took care of some stuff for me..paper work, etc., plus he packed up the 8 cup coffee maker I did not want, and re-ordered a four cup for me. He is such a Blessing to me. And to hundreds of others as well. One of those, "don't worry about it, I'll take care of it".

Janie, I hope you had a great day at WM today. You are such an inspiration to me and others.  At 9:30 this morning you were due at work, and I was still wondering who I was and where was I ?

LLoyd, we are going to have to tie you down to your bed to keep you safe. First it was machinery trying to do you in, and now it is an attack from your #$%^ BEES !! Mercy !!!!!!!

Larry, I went to Amazon this morning and ordered some nice leg warmers. There is a trillion of them to choose from. I bought those that reach smoothly from ankle to  knee. The are knitted and crocheted in a nice pattern…Not that anyone is going to see them, as I wear long pants almost exclusively now..some long dresses, but no more "good looking' legs" walking around. I also bought a book. Went to a prayer meeting last night and our Chaplain quoted from "Silent Takeover". It sounded like something I would like to have, so I bought it.

Gloria, I have heard other people say they would not wear anything buy wool socks so you are right up there in comfort. They do take extra care in laundering, but they are evidently worth it.

Gloria de…I too have very delicate skin, and I have lost a lot of flesh between the skin and my bones, so the slightest bump causes a bruise or bleeding. I repeat..Old age is NOT for sissies. We are a brave group that value the years we have left, but don't let life pass us by out of fear of "what if"……

Hello Everyfriend!  Today was a gorgeous day for with I say a fervent "THANK YOU GOD!  It's still in the 70s and I've been able to have the door open for the doggies most of the time since I've been home.  Mickie, sits out on the porch and then goes down and rolls in the grass and comes back up and sits a while more.  I tell her that she's "surveying her realm".

Annie goes out, checks is there's anything happening and then comes back in and sits in the doorway waiting for something exciting to happen.

I just checked and Annie is under the desk and Mickie is in my office doorway.  I expect the soft moaning will begin soo to tell me "it's supper time, Mom".

I think I'll surprise them and go get it now before they start!  Enjoy the rest of your day, Everyfriend!

Shirley--Joe will be back fairly soon.

Jenny--Terrible weather you've had if it took Dave 4 hours to drive what normally takes 30 min.  Glad that Kurt's driving trip to Boston is going well.  I've been watching that giraffe hoping she soon gives birth.

June--Nice that Gary took care of some things for you and that you got the leg warmers ordered.

Janie--GREAT that you're having such nice weather.  Were the doggies surprised when you fed them a bit early? :)

angelface--Thanks for the link.

Good Saturday morning, Everyfriend.   There's oatmeal and blueberries to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a good day!!

CHUCKLES

Superman

At his request, each morning three-year-old Ray's mother pinned a bath towel to the back shoulders of his size two T-shirt. Immediately in his young imaginative mind the towel became a brilliant magic blue and red cape.

And he became Superman. Outfitted each day in his "cape," Ray's days were packed with adventure and daring escapades. He was Superman.
This fact was clearly pointed out last fall when his mother enrolled him in kindergarten class. During the course of the interview, the teacher asked Ray his name.

"Superman," he answered politely and without pause.

The teacher smiled, cast an appreciative glance at his mother, and asked again, "Your real name, please."

Again, Ray answered, "Superman."

Realizing the situation demanded more authority, or maybe to hide amusement, the teacher closed her eyes for a moment, then in a voice quite stern, said, "I will have to have your real name for the records."

Sensing he'd have to play straight with the teacher, Ray slid his eyes around the room, hunched closer to her, and patting a corner of frayed towel at his shoulder, answered in a voice hushed with conspiracy, "Clark Kent."

Food For Thought

THE SEARCH FOR AN HONEST MAN
(Author Unknown)

I love this story which reportedly came from the July 10, 1989 issue of Sports Illustrated:

The game was played in Wellington, Florida. In it, a seven-year-old first baseman, Tanner Munsey, fielded a ground ball and tried to tag a runner going from first to second base.

The umpire, Laura Benson, called the runner out, but young Tanner immediately ran to her side and said, "Ma'am, I didn't tag the runner." Umpire Benson reversed herself, sent the runner to second base, and Tanner's coach gave him the game ball for his honesty.

Two weeks later, Laura Benson was again the umpire and Tanner was playing shortstop when a similar play occurred. This time Benson ruled that Tanner had missed the tag on a runner going to third base, and she called the runner safe. Tanner looked at Benson and without saying a word, tossed the ball to the catcher and returned to his position.

Benson sensed something was wrong. "Did you tag the runner?" She asked Tanner.

His reply: "Yes."

Benson then called the runner out. The opposing coaches protested until she explained what had happened two weeks earlier. "If a kid is that honest," she said, "I have to give it to him."

Good Saturday morning, Joan.

I am up early as I have to go for blood work.  My son is (supposed) to pick me up about 7:30.   Since I can't eat breakfast, I will have to forgo the oatmeal and blueberries.  I am hoping that he won't be in a hurry and we can stop somewhere on the way home to eat.  If not,  then I will just get him to stop at McDonalds and I will get something to bring home.  Although, he  usually likes to stop  for breakfast and it is always my treat.   I had the clock set for 6 a.m., but I have been awake since about 4 a.m.  So, I thought I might as well get up. I only have to get dressed, as I took a shower before I went to bed.

Hope you and all the other friends will have a good Saturday.  We have been having spring-like weather for several days, but it is supposed to turn a lot colder by this afternoon.  We can't be that lucky that winter is over, yet.  Still have March to get through, and it can be pretty brutal at times.

Good morning everyone, we just had the warmest night since the beginning of autumn.  Manager does not want windows open in the winter but I think we have all been opening them in this warm weather. She is worried the heat pipes will freeze.

JOAN  talked to my son last night and he had been out pruning the apple trees. He said there was still snow in the orchard but fast melting.

SANDY  I always wanted to travel this country of ours but never did. Most of what I saw was from a plane heading to San Diego. Did spend a week going through Arizona though and enjoyed every minute of it.

GLORIA de  we hit 71° yesterday and it was great. Low humidity and a nice breeze. I think we all started with that Tangee lipstick.

SHIRLEY  like you I enjoyed Bobbie's trip and all the pictures she shared with us. I did get to meet her when she was here. I am already dreading summer heat and humidity. It has been in the 50's over night.

JENNY  my daughter knows how I worry so when the traveled here as soon as they got home she would call me.

JUNE  don't curse the beres, without them we would not be able to grow any food. Lloyd just did not take time out to get his bee suit on. I have a net bag I put the wool socks in and that way they are easy to separate from the rest to bring up and hang up in here. They are warm in winter and cool in summer.

JANE  I think we are all enjoying this spring temperatures. But I do not trust it, still waiting for it to return to winter.

PATRICIA  wish I could still cook, I would try that recipe.

JOAN  oatmeal and blueberries will be soo good this morning. Think I will add some this time. Superman-Ray knew who he was alright. Food for Thought is a wonderful story. Today's quote is so true. Thank you for all today's goodies.

LLOYD  I woke too early this morning and hope I can get more later.

JOY  I keep waiting for winter to return. Too warm for February but I am enjoying it.

I have to go feed the doggies.  We slept in a bit this morning and I think it threw off their timing.  They still aren't bothering me to eat and it's almost 7:30.

Hi everyone on a beautiful Saturday morning. I have fixed Pat's breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen.  This afternoon I have a man coming to pressure wash the front of my house and my wooden fence that surrounds the back yard.  Next week sometime he will also stain my wooden fence.  This has been something that has needed to be done for awhile. I see this morning that my neighbor, directly across the street from me, has placed her home on the market as a real estate sign appeared sometime yesterday evening.

Yesterday afternoon I dropped Pat off at Walmart and then went across the street to our Credit Union to take care of some business. I then went to pick her up and as I waiting at the head of the lane in the parking lady a lady across started to back up.  Fortunately she did is very slowly and I laid on my horn.  Fortunately she stopped probably only a couple of inches from the driver's side door of my car.  If I had been thinking carefully rather than sit there and honk I had time to drive ahead but didn't think of it until after the event occurred.  We went from there to our favorite BBQ place for our main meal of the day.  I expect to watch some more of the golf tournament this afternoon.

While I am writing here this morning I am listening to Les Paul and Mary Ford music.  It is very easy to listen to.

Gloria, you are not boring to me.  Last year I bought a couple of pair of very nice wool slacks for church and found I could wear them in the summer as well as the winter.  I have made of note to look up the Sierra Trading Post.

Sandy, I was always a bit concerned about your being alone on the road and was always glad to see your next posting saying you were OK or had settled out West for a few months.  Glad you are near your family now.

deAngel, Pat has decided she would like to have a porch swing on our back patio so I guess we will be getting one before long.  Glad you could enjoy sitting on your back porch in February.  I understand about having good days and bad days.

Shirley, I would not operate very well on only 3 hours of sleep.  I hope you got some sleep last night.

Jenny, a four hour commute for Dr. Dave after a busy day at work must have been exhausting.  Hope the ice is soon gone.  I saw a news report on the Giraffe last night on NBC Nightly News.  There was still no baby Giraffe.

June, a wise decision not to get down on the floor on purpose.

Lloyd, sure hope you were able to get some sleep this morning.

Joy, do you find when you have a fairly early appointment you automatically wake up earlier than normal?  I sure do and very seldom set an alarm anymore although it very easy to do anymore with these smart phone.

Joan,  the lab where I go is connected with our county hospital and they do have hours on Saturday morning, from 8 till  noon.

I was surprised when my son said he would pick me up about 7:30, as although I do like to go early, he usually is late getting me However, this morning, he was here right about 7:30 and I got to the lab just about 8 and they were already open and I had # 84 and they were just calling #72.,  I don't think I have ever seen it that crowded that early.  There usually are a couple people waiting for it to open, but one of the ladies was talking to, said they didn't open until right at 8 and it was a line of people waiting.  There were 2 nurses, instead of the usual 3 and I didn't get out of there until almost 10.  I had to stop up the road from there to get a battery put in my watch and then we were going to go to Bob Evans, but it was a line waiting.  So, since I was so hungry, we just went to McDonalds and went in and ate there.

So, it was a kind of a sit and wait morning.  Everybody had their phones out clicking away.  I should have taken something to read.

The sky has suddenly turned very gray and the wind is picking up.  I guess I got home just in time.   Rain is expected by this afternoon.  And temperatures will be colder for the next few days.

I am going to see if I can find a movie to start watching and then, for sure, will wind up napping.  A nap always seems to happen when I start watching TV.

Larry, when I have to get up  really early, I do usually set the alarm, but most of the time,( I guess it is on your mind,) I will wake up way ahead of the alarm and wind up getting up. I am not usually a morning person, but when I have to be somewhere early,  I can do it.

Have a good afternoon.

Amy--Rain is better than snow.  You sure are a busy bee.

Larry--Good to hear Pat went shopping by herself.  Yikes--you just missed that lady, who obviously wasn't looking, hitting your vehicle.

Lloyd--Glad you were able to get more sleep and that your headache is nearly gone.

Joy--Wow--that lab was a busy place today.  There's a Bob Evans about 2 miles from me, and on weekend mornings there's always a waiting line.  I don't "do" wait very well.

Good Saturday Morning Everyone from the  overcast but warming up,  rocky coast of Maine....

All is well here.    I am in the process of going through my stuff,  again,  and trying to get it "organized" ...
What a mess  I would be in if I didn't do this every couple of months   (giggle)...

My lab at Mercy Hospital here in Maine is opening
24/7  ....   Which is very handy  ...  per chance I should need to have a emergency trip to the lab..     Which hopefully doesn't happen very often  (or ever!!)

Good Morning all, I had a perfect nights sleep, and a happy morning. Nothing more is planned for today, not till tonight..we will have a Hymn sing. I thought it was last night…wrong !

Question : should Ieave my lap top plugged in at all times, or should I unplug it when the green light i showing ? I seldom use it but I like to know it is ready at all times.

Janie, do you have your favorite movies on C.D.s ? Or ?

Jackie, those three bad storms you had were certainly wide spread. I'm so glad you were O.K.

Bis, I love that imaginative little boy being Superman…he really lives his role.

Gloria, I am so delighted to read your son still has his apple orchard. I recall there was a time when he thought he may give it up. As long as he is well and strong, I hope he maintains it…once a farmer, always a farmer, and I know how much you enjoyed the apples, and also how you loved working for him.

Amy, I will do my best not to be careless with these poor old delicate legs. They have given me 92 years of joyful living, so they deserve good care. We humans take such advantage of these wonderful bodies of ours, I know I have, so when they get old and weak, we should spoil them with good care.

Larry I had purchased a pressure attachment for the garden hose after Ed died and I had the responsibility for more work. Those pressures really do a good job, but not for a weakling to handle. I'm glad you didn't get a  ding on your car. Oh..I loved Les Paul and Mary Ford. I am going to Utube and see if I can find them…
We had a glider on our front porch and it is  very relaxing, I'm glad Pat will get her swing.

Lloyd…wonderful news that you head is getting better. Now please, please, please, be very tender in caring for that head from now on. O.K. ????????

Joy, I am so happy that you have a son that is there to take you places. My youngest son lives nearby and gives me the same gift of his time. I recently applied for a handicapped placard, so he can park nearby…everyplace is so overcrowded in this area.

Time for me to get out and do some walking. This computer is not good for my health..I get so involved the time just disappears. See you all later………

I'm having a very tired day today for some reason and, while I did a few things that needed doing, when it started to rain, I decided to give in to the "tired" and do nothing.  I sure hope AMY left a few zzzs.  I rather think I could use them today.  Maybe it's because I dreamed most of the night and I was very active in my dreams.  I wonder?

June, I do have THE HORSE SOLDIERS but it is on tape and I missed the last 15 minutes of it.  Last night it was on TV.  I have many of my favorites on tape and CD and I really enjoy them.

A good Saturday HELLO.

Sun is shinning but it is cold outside, and will continue to be for the next few days.

I rested so much better last night after I got the call that Kurt and doggies we safely to their destination in Boston.  It was 11:30 PM for him.  I just hope he was able to sleep after a nice shower!  The poor doggies were so glad to be there also.  The youngest of the two was a nervous wreck most of the way....shaking uncontrollably.  Bless his heart..... they are used to traveling for shorter distances in the family vehicle, but the truck might just have kept him stirred up.  Kurt said when they got out to potty and run around, they acted just fine, but once back in the truck the poor guy was shaking again.

LARRY, I have always loved a glider and a rocker so much on a porch or patio.  I do hope Pat can get one soon for her to enjoy like Gloria de.  Thank goodness the lady did stop before she smashed your door.

JOY, your morning outing was enough excitement for one day, so relax now and take it easy!

JACKIE, thank you for sharing the site to read about Doris.  She sure did enough damage.

JUNE, you are right it is not good for us to sit too long and do our thing on these computers.....my hubby just gave me a talking to...saying it is time to get up and move around!  Hope you enjoyed your walk.

AMY, the suggestion of bubble wrap for our June sounds like a good one.

Thank you, JOAN, for our goodies today.

JANIE, I do hope you are able to find a few ðŸ'¤ to tide you over this afternoon.

Enjoy your day, EVERYFRIEND!

Jenny

Janie--I am sure Amy left some ZZZ's.  I am tired, too, and am going to look for some shortly.

Jenny--I know you were glad to get the call that Kurt had arrived in Boston.  That poor dog that was so scared must have been exhausted.

This day is turning out to be a sleepy one for several of us. My eyes are yearning to close also, but I must wait till after lunch. I want what they are serving....then will come the nap...I can hear the zzzzzzz's singing a lullaby already.

Jenny, another thing I must remind myself of, besides the walking, is NOT leaning back in my chair, but to sit forward with a straight spine. It is so easy to sit back and slump...lousy position for our body to take. Our lungs get smooshed down, our eyes are not positioned right.  etc. etc. etc.

Janie, I can think of no one of us here that deserves the right to a day off than you. As far as I know you are the only one of us still out there meeting and dealing with the public, and earning a wage, taking care of two doggies, plus a Grandaughter at times, and still have a smile on your face and good words to speak.
So you just lay back and absorb those zzzzzzz, listen to the rain drops falling gently on your window, and remember the good times...I think I stole some of that last sentence from a lovely song.....

June, it sounds like it could be from the BJ Thomas classic "Raindrops keep fallin' on my head".  But I looked up the lyrics for that song and if you did steal it from that, you made some subtle changes.

I did indeed find some zzzs this afternoon but the were on my recliner.  I think I slept about 2 hours and I do feel better.  I guess Cathy isn't coming by this afternoon.  That means she will be here tomorrow some time.  Her birthday is coming up in March and she will be 60!  It just doesn't seem possible.  She does not look 60 and she does not appear to be showing her age.  And most of the time, I don't feel old enough to have a 60 year old daughter.  Where did the years go?

I think I'll take one of my meat loaf and scalloped potato dinners out of the freezer.  I always make enough to freeze some and tomorrow, I'm making fish but today I'm loafing so I'll eat from the freezer.

I hope everyone who needed a nap found some zzzs and that you are all having a good day.  It's still raining here.  It's a good day to stay in and loaf.  Enjoy!

June--What were they serving for lunch?  I'm guilty of not sitting properly in mu computer chair.

Janie--I found about 45 min. worth of ZZZ's--that should tide me over until bedtime.  I love what you're having for supper.

Had lunch, came home and slept for a couple of hours.

Janie, the song is "For the Good times". by Ray Price. I'll put in the URL and hope it works. I slept in my recliner too, with the book on my chest of course. I was wakened by one of the "pill" girls, bringing my fourth group of them. They space them so they deliver six different times a day( I pay for this service, but it will be essential eventually).

Bis, lunch was a Breaded piece of Tilapia on a light, but thick bun..lots of big air bubbles in the the bun. It has a name but I don't remember what it is. Served with soup, salad, vegetable, juice, and any thing else one wanted. I had a mousse  for dessert, and had them pack a cup of choc. ice cream to take home. Sleepy time followed.

Our sun disappeared behind clouds..no rain forecast just cloudiness. So it is time to put my shoes on and get out for the second walk of the day. CULTR

donklan, that looks a great deal like what we had. These were made into buns, but more elongated than a hamburger bun. A nice crust both top and bottom and very tender, but chewy. I liked them and would order it again. The Tilapia was great too.

Just came back from a lovely hymn sing in our club house, and it was a fun time too. Our Chaplain belonged to a quartet and they were great. Tonight he gave a showing of when they did a comedy skit, and I laughed till my jaws hurt...they so enjoyed their own comedy.
