Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've got my coffee and I'm ready to join anyone except Amy.  I don't blow snow!

I'm off to the chiropractor later this morning and i don't have to make the trip alone.  Christy is going with me.  This is the Dr. that she worked for for about 12 years when she lived in this area.  They also became good friends and she's looking forward to a visit.  And it means more special visiting for the two of us on the trip.

Hal, I hope your wife feels all well soon.

Have a great day Everyfriend...Good Morning to you, too, Jackie.

Good morning everyone, glad the super bowl is over at last. Last week on TV here that was all you heard, was almost as bad as all the news coverage before the election.

JOAN  all I know about Lady Gaga is she is weird. I did not watch the game and only heard this morning on the news about the Patriots winning.

MARY ANN  I don't watch sports on TV but glad the local team won.

JANE  great that your daughter and you did a good job with the carpets and your living room now sparkles. Brussel sprouts and tomatoes? Was it good? I love brussel sprouts.

PATRICIA  like the way
Farrah is now waking you up.

HAL  Madonna or Lady
gaga they are both weird. I do not care for either one of them.

GLORIA de  I have not had pancakes in ages. Never know what youngsters will say when they see something different.

JUNE  like you I do not like football but with a local team in the game I am glad they won.

HAL  so sorry about your wife and the kidney stone. I heard that is very painful.

JOAN  a blueberry muffin looks good this morning. Love Chuckles, Will have to share those. Food for Thought s a keeper. I think we all know one of those NIT pickers, we might be one of them, too. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  more snow? Enough for the rest of the winter? Early start tomorrow.

LLOYD  good morning.

Good morning Gloria.  I'm glad the Super Bowl is over, too.  I guess the younger generation likes Madonna and Lady Gaga.

Hi everyone on a chilly 40 degree morning but headed up to about 70 this afternoon.  I did make it to Sunday School and Church yesterday and stopped to pick up a sub from Firehouse Subs for my lunch.  Pat had arisen late and had a late breakfast so wasn't hungry and didn't want me to bring her anything.  I did watch the Superbowl game last night and it turned out to be a very good game even though my Atlanta Falcons ended up losing after getting ahead by quite a few points in the first half.  New England really played well in the second half and came back to win in the first overtime game ever played in the 51st playing of the Superbowl.  Now football is over until September.  I hope to get to my Monday noon meeting today and may make a quite trip to the Post Office to mail a package to Pat's sister and then make a brief stop at Aldi's for a few things we need.  However, these last two things may wait until tomorrow depending on my energy level.

Hal, it sounds like you and I have similar lives with routine activities most days and I am happy with it being this way.  That did turn out to be a good game last night as I mentioned above.  It seems that we may be the only two writing here that cared anything about the game.  Lady Gaga started off her show with a beautiful rendition of a couple of patriotic songs that were good but then the noise and fireworks and gyrations took over and I lost interest as couldn't understand what she was saying.  Sorry you missed most of the game and that your wife was in such pain.  I hope she is feeling better today.  I thought it was touching when Georgia H.W. and Barbara Bush were brought onto the field and they seemed to really enjoy the experience although George sure doesn't look very good.

Gloria, your Patriots had a slow start but came out for the second half and looked like a different team.  Brady is a terrific quarterback, perhaps the best ever.

JaneS, it sounds like your daughter and you got a lot done yesterday and now you can enjoy more space and a sparkling room.

Patricia, that is a heavy load of classes at one time.  No wonder you are tired as you are working too hard.

Mary Ann, one of the men I have coffee with has a son who is a golf pro but is serving as a caddie for one of the top women golfers.  This time of the year they are playing in other countries where it is warm.  He said one week he got a check for $20,000 I guess from his work at one tournament.  I haven't watched any golf yet this year.

Sandy, like you I don't want to go back and not have a computer or a smart phone.  These things have enriched my life.

June, when we first had TV there were only three stations available to us and only one of those were close enough to get a good picture.  Their live broadcasting included wrestling every Saturday evening.  I well remember the many trips to the set to adjust the vertical or horizontal settings and to chance the channels.  How things have progressed.

Joan, very good Chuckles for today.

Vanilla-Jackie

Joan, quoting you: " I'm happy to have you join me..."

Joan I am happy that you are happy for me to come and join you, I will also be happy to share my raspberries and strawberries with you, maybe tomorrow morning...... ;)
" There is no present like the time "

Joy

Good morning, Joan and all.

Joan, a cranberry muffin sounds good to me.  I love anything with cranberries.

I guess maybe I am the only one of the "older generation" who does like Lady Gaga.  I thought she put on a fantastic show,  I had heard earlier that she was going to make a HUGE political statement and turned out,  she DIDN'T. It was a very classy act, I think,  compared to a lot of the other half-time shows over the years.    Yes, I think when she first started out in her career, she was a little strange in her attire, but  I think she has really toned down her appearance.  I especially like her when she sings with Tony Bennett.  They have done several commercials that are really good.   It took a lot of nerve to jump off of that building.  I have read a lot of comments this morning, and she has gotten very good reviews.  There is always somebody who will try to make something about nothing.

So, Joan, as you always say, "Whatever floats your boat" . LOL

Hal, sorry you didn't get to see the game.  I hadn't really planned on watching the game, as it really didn't matter to me who won.  Wasn't my Raven's playing.  I wanted to see the half-time show,, so just left it on after that and it did turn out to be an exciting game.  I am sure you will be able to see a lot of the highlights on the sports news today.

I do hope that your wife is feeling better.  Kidney stones are not fun !!!

It is a pretty sunny morning, but they are calling for a cold and snowy end of the week.  Hopefully, it won't amount to much.  We have been very lucky so far this winter.

Larry, I was also hoping that maybe the Falcons would win after their exciting first half.  Would have been nice for them to win, after the Patriots had so many wins. But, it was an exciting finish.  I am looking forward to having some 70º soon.

Jane, sounds like you and your daughter have had a great week end together,  And your house is so "gleaming" now.  Nice that she will get to meet up with her old boss again.  Hope you get to have a nice lunch together.

Have a wonderful day.

Hello, we're going to be taking off pretty soon but I have to tell LARRY...

I vividly remember the days of 3 choices on the TV.  My FIL had spent many years as an inspector of TV at the Westinghouse plant in nearby Sunbury, PA.  When he opened his store on the main street in town, that's what he sold.  He actually started with a repair shop in his home.  Not too many had TV back then.  When the store was open, he always turned a set on and faced it toward the plate glass window on Saturday when he closed the store.  From about 7 p.m. to midnight when they signed off there were never less than a dozen people standing on the street watching TV.  He not only sold them, he also repaired them and my son is 3rd generation doing that.  However, they also added appliances along the way.  Over the years, they've done most of the TV and appliance business in a 3-county area.

I guess I better get going.  If we make a stop on the way we don't want to be late.  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!

Good afternoon, Sunny and not a bad day for Feb. Every day we are in the 40's is great, as we are on our way toward Spring. Although March can be bad, but not like Jan.

Joan, I also will have a cranberry muffin.  thanks

Sandy and Larry, our first TV was a 7 inch  Motor.  We also watched wrestling, Dennis love Kukla,Fran and Ollie. Gorgeous

Jane, I remember standing in the street watching a storefront TV. It was , it was Lewis, boxing match.

Gloria, I am also glad to hear the Patriots win. I did not watch the game. I was watching Victoria.

MaryAnn, I love to watch the golf, when it is played in Flagstaff. They expected 90,000 yesterday, biggest crowd ever.

Hal I am so sorry to hear about your wife, hope she is in less pain today.
June, I remember watching wrestling also. I remember Gorgeous  George. WE also went to see in wrestle in Charleston, SC, he throw out gold? hair pins, my mother caught one, but threw it away.

In Interior Alaska in the fifties and early sixties, television was on a one or two day delay and not many folks had one. We never did until after the 1967 flood and while my younger sister became an avid cartoon watcher, the rest of us weren't that enthused. It remains that way today, she is the only one who enjoys TV. I remember the first show I ever saw was the Big Valley starring Barbara Stanwyck. Then there was Combat with Vick Morrow. We had too many things to do outdoors that TV just never caught on. Perhaps if we had always had one?

Mary Ann

Larry, I think I read once where the pro golfers pay their caddies 10% of their winnings. The first place winners usually get over one million dollars so that would be at least $100,000 for the caddie.  You can see why the caddies like their jobs and they usually caddie for the same golfer â€" unless they have a falling out.

When we got our first TV, we had only three local stations and I’m not sure about PBS, but we had NBC, CBS and ABC.  We got our first color set in 1966.  I can’t tell you how many stations are available now as I have not counted them, but there are a great many â€" most of which I don’t watch.  I think I watch less than ten channels and if I don’t like what is on any of them, I put on the music channel and that is what I have on now.  It’s getting near 1 pm and I may check to see what I might want to watch.

Would you believe I had a cranberry muffin for breakfast this morning, along with coffee â€" both from McDonald’s.

Joy, I saw Lady Gaga sing the National Anthem for some event and she did a good job of it, not going all over the scale as some singers do.  She also was dressed very appropriately.

Jane, your FIL knew how to attract customers.  I worked in the appliance department of our local electric utility but we did not sell TVs.  We sold both major and traffic (irons etc) appliances.  The company had a much respected repair department, too.  There were objections to utilities selling appliances so both we and the gas company eventually discontinued selling them.  But we pioneered selling many new appliances when they were first introduced â€" such as automatic washers and dryers.  Other dealers were afraid to take them on until we had tested them.

Gloria D, I think I heard someone say that over the four days, they had over 650,000 people there in Phoenix and you could see there were lots of people there.  I’ll refrain from commenting on crowd sizes.

It’s 40 degrees here with the sun shining.  When the sun shines, it’s a nice day.

Mary Ann

JoanFL

Janie--Interesting about your families history with TV and appliances.

Linedancer--I don't know what size screen our first B & W TV was, but know it was very small.

angelface--We were the only ones on our street who had a TV so many folks came in and out to watch.

Mary Ann--Like you, with out first TV we had 3 stations.  Also, they did not broadcast 24 hours a day.

Good Morning all, I woke early for a surprise blood test, then back to sleep till I was given my thyroid pill, and so the day progresses. Had my bandage change..still looks icky, but the first one is really showing healing. And so the beat goes on……..

Hal. we never know what the day will bring us do we ? The best laid plans can be disrupted in a heart-beat. I really am feeling sorry for your wife. I witnessed the pain my Edward went through with kidney stones, and that is a very severe pain. The doctor told me if I thought birth pain hurt, kidney stones are far more painful. I pray she will be able to pass them easily.

Gloria, I don't know beans about foot ball, but isn't this now the sixth super bowl the Patriots have won? They must be great.

Larry,my Polish Mother in law just loved Gorgeous George, but she hated one guy named Karalinko…spelling is wrong but that is how it sounds. I never watched wrestling, I kept busy bathing my two little ones and getting them ready for bed. I knew it was all fake, but my MIL really believed it all.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JUNE, the dr. that told you kidney stones are worse than giving birth must have been a man.  And how would he know that?  A lady dr. who had 3 children and also suffered a kidney stone, said that a the closest a man will come to knowing the pain of childbirth is suffering a kidney stone.  And she added, it's about half as bad as childbirth!

Back in the days of 3 TV stations, ours had to come over a mountain via a relay station.  And no one had an antenna lower than 60 feet above the roof.  If you reception was bad and you couldn't clear it, we were all heard to remark, "It must be raining/snowing/blowing on Montour Ridge."

Have to go feed the doggies.  My back is a lot better and I know from experience that it will be even better tomorrow.  Debra says that we continue to heal ourselves for the new two days.  Enjoy your evening, Everyfriend!

By the way, Christy is on her way home and it's "empty" around here.  I missed her before she go to the corner.

June Drabek

Hi, my groceries have been delivered and tucked away. Seems I am the only one that uses the freezer. Someone else uses the fridge with a case of yogurt. Just putting stuff away wears me out.

We are still getting showers off and on. It makes me so happy, as I saw some shots of our biggest lakes out here, and it was pitiful to see how very low they had become. We could use some heavy snow falls too, as there is no run off from the snow.

I am chewing gum. I quit that years ago, but recently read chewing gum lowers blood pressure and increases natural saliva which aids it digestion. So I had some Wrigleys double mint delivered today. I do a lot of chewing with my front teeth now, since I have lost a bunch of molars. I will refrain from chewing in public.  :-\

Janie, you are correct. It was a male surgeon that said that. He also said it was more painful for a man to pass the stone than it is for a woman. If he actually compared the two doing the suffering, he still would not realize that women can endure a lot more pain than can a man. A woman does relieve her pain somewhat by groaning where a man is taught not to show emotions. I still would like to shoot the doctor that devised the stirrups we are strapped into..very unnatural position for childbirth.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Goodnight dear hearts. I am ready for an early bed. See you all in the morning. June

Argument

A couple drove several miles down a country road, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument, and neither wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules and pigs, the wife sarcastically asked, "Relatives of yours?"

"Yep," the husband replied, "In-laws."

Food For Thought

Looking at the Heart
(By Kerry Doyal)

Saul blew it & God rejected him from being King of Israel. Impressive in stature and well begun - even humble - he stumbled badly due to pride and sin. It brought him down low. It always does.

Samuel was tasked to anoint Saul's successor. God had picked, He would guide him to the right one. Incredibly, it was none of Jesse's impressive sons in appearance or height. It was the least, the lowliest, the last - the stinking one tending the few sheep.

Thus our verse:

"But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." - 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)

In a culture driven to death at times by looks, impressions and appearances, God reminds us where He looks - inside.

He urges us to not get fooled by the show, by style over substance, fluff over real stuff. Look past the flash, the flesh and think eternally.

Also, tend your own inner garden, till your soul's soil. Is your heart tidy, preened, pruned, guarded? God looks past the facade to our real person. He asks us to do the same.

Good morning everyone, rain in our forecast for today. Big parade in Boston today for the Patriots, The team will be in the duck boats, hope they have rain gear on. The governor of RI has declared today Patriots day and a rally  for them is slated for the capitol in Providence for them. If you think I am going to that, think again. There will be a lot of people calling into work sick today just to stand out in the rain and cheer them.

JOAN  the super bowl might be over but in this area the hoopla is still in full force.

LARRY  being a local team there is a lot of celebration going on for the Pats. Last night programs were delayed to show the busses going into Gillette stadium and the crowds waiting to welcome the Patriots home. On TV they showed some of the sports and fans reaction to the first half of the game. Most kept saying- just wait, they haven't started yet. Our first TV had a 7 inch screen and we thought that was great. Look at the sized they have now. WOW.

JOY  I did not have the game on and I have never watched the half time shows. Last time I watched a football game I was in high school.

JANE  I remember one of the big stores in Providence had a TV on in a window and there was always people standing there watching. I did, too.

GLORIA de  I was glad to see the Pats win and to see that jerk that suspended Brady for 4 games and see him hand the MVP award to Brady. The smile on Brady's face said it all. I think we all watched whe wrestling.  I know I used to get all worked up watching till my FIL kept saying -it's fake, they really aren't hurting each other. He said it so often I lost my interest in watching. I remember Gorgeous George, more for his outfit when he got into the ring.

PATRICIA  I still watch Big Valley on Me TV. I always enjoyed Barbara Stanwyck in what ever movie she was in.

MARY ANN  3 channels that shut down for the night after 10 or 11 PM and that was it till morning.

JUNE  from what was said it is the 7th win for the coach of the Patriots.

JANE  those antennas on the roofs and getting them turned right for reception. With all the roofs sporting those antennas you could tell who did not have one.

AMY  safe travels today.

JOAN  I will enjoy a sticky bun, always enjoy them. That was quite a conversation in chuckles, could lead to another Argument. Food for Thought is so true, we have to look beyond appearance to know the real person. Good quote. Thank you for all today's goodies.

LLOYD  good morning.

JANE  a hurting back is no fun especially  standing at work.
