Mary Ann,  Congratulations to all on the birth of the twin girls.

Hal,  prayers and good thoughts for your wife with her surgery tomorrow.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

June Drabek

I have shampooed my hair in the sink, and did a stand up bath and I am worn out. So off to bed and book. Had a nice quiet day at home and feel much better tonight. My Gary comes for Bible study tomorrow and I want to attend that for sure.

Hal, my best wishes and prayers for your wife's surgery tomorrow. It is so great you have those good daughters to be help out when necessary.

May you all have a blessed sleep tonight and a happy, healthy tomorrow. Hugs, Love and Prayers all around. June

As long as we are here, let's dance.

Just a quick stop in to say HELLO.

WE are n AZ visiting my Dad and Diane.  We arrived yesterday afternoon, after a nice drive.  We left home about 1 PM on Super Bowl Sunday, and arrived in Gallup, New Mexico at 9 PM.  Had a nice rest and drove in around 1PM. Monday.  Bob taped the game and watched it after the fact.  Mind you, had it been our Broncos we would never miss the game.

Our plan was to go to Son Mark'slace first, as yesterday was his Birthday.  His gal had a surprise planned for him, so changed our plans since ours were last minute.  We will see them later in the week.

Congratulations to your family, MARY ANN, on the arrival of the twin girls.  I do hope they will be healthy and safe to go home soon.

HAL, I am sorry to read about your wife's kidney issues.  I do hope the removal of the stone will go well and she can soon be out of pain.

CAROL, be careful.....the javelin can be very scary and MEAN,  One ran right into my dad several years ago as he was walking up to the house....took his feet right out from under him.

LARRY, I am sad that your Falcons lost the game.

Thank you, JOAN, for our goodies.  I do appreciate all you do for us.

Good morning, JACKIE.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Food For Thought

Same Old, Same Old?
By Arie Leder
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 9:1-6, 13-18

Praise the Lord, my soul . . . who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:1, 5
We’ve reached the last day of the first month of this new year. It’s possible that, for many of us, this year may already be “the same old thing” as years beforeâ€"with promises of new beginnings dashed, resolutions faltered, and hopes receded.
But newness does not come with a new year; nor does it age by the last day of an old year. Satisfying and refreshing newness is ours every day through the Lord Jesus Christ, who makes all things new. Days and years will pass, but the Word of the Lord is forever.
Once settled in Bethlehem, Ruth did not look for anything new or exciting; she was embraced by the kindness and integrity of Boaz, and she immersed herself in living out her days with her family and with God. The ancient, living Word of God kept her young and refreshed till the day she died. After Haman’s death and Mordecai’s promotion to the king’s right hand, Esther too was done with the anxiety and evil of Haman’s persecution. It was good to rest in the victory gained by discerning God’s timing and will in her life.
Wisdom invites us to eat what refreshes and keeps us ever new; folly winks at stolen sweetness, which only embitters and binds us to perpetual old age. Take, eat, and drink from the wisdom of God, and be ever new!
We praise you, O God! Your grace is limitless, and you provide every good thing for us. Thank you for your love. In Jesus, Amen.

Good morning everyone

It is so nice to be able to stay home, even if I do have a dance with the snow blower waiting for me. Not a lot of snow but what is there has a crust on it from the rain.

MaryAnn congratulations on the twins!!!

Hal, prayers for your wife.

Joan thank you for breakfast, I had better get dressed and get that snow removed..

Enjoy your day everyone.

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Thank you again, Joanie for your efforts on our behalf.  I loved the bumper stickers!  And everything else is thought provoking.

Amy, from this day forward I ORDER you to keep your snow to yourself!  This is my second week working evening hours and it's supposed to begin snowing around 10 p.m. ...  right when I'm beginning to drive home tonight.

MaryAnn, I forgot to ask, do you know if your new twins are identical?  I'm waiting for pictures!  Having raised a set of twins, I love meeting them and watching them grow.

Good morning, Janie.  Sure hope the snow holds off until you get home from work.  It's my pleasure to provide "stuff" each day.  Did you know I am a twin as was my husband?

It's errand day, so shortly I'll set out to accomplish a few things.

Good Morning Everyone!

Was a short night or early morning, which ever way you want to look at it.  At any rate the wife and daughter got off a little late, wife dropped a bottle of pills (full) and we spent a few minutes looking for and picking them up from the kitchen floor.  But if things go as normal it will be a hurry up and wait thing anyhow.

Amy hope you and the snow blower enjoyed the dance.  Not sure, does he step on your toes?  Or just freeze them?

Joanie thank you again for the soul food and tummy food.  Both hit the spot.

Hope everyone has a good day and thanks from thinking of us with your prayers.

JoanFL

Good morning, halkel.  Hope you managed to find all the dropped pills.

Yes, Joanie, I remember your telling me that you are a twin.  I forgot about your husband.  My son-in-law is also a twin.

I'm in the middle of paying this month's bills so I better get back to work...and this is WORK for me but please don't give me too many demerits.  I really rather be scrubbing the kitchen floor or cleaning up the yard after the dogs.

Mary Ann

Jane, the girls are not identical.  Alicia had help from a fertility clinic.  I don't know yet if Tom has heard from James as to the names.  At one time we were planning our Wednesday family lunch at the hospital with Alicia and while I don't see why we can't still do that, I wonder if we will.

I had said the girls are in ICU but they are in the Neo Natal area.  I was surprised they weighed as much as they did but that is good that they do weigh more.  My cousin's quad grandchildren were from the high 2# to low 3# when they were born almost 26 years ago and all of them are now healthy and wise (not wealthy yet).  All are college grads.  Norm's other great-granddaughter was a month early, spent a couple weeks in the hospital and is one of the most cheerful children at one year old.

We haven't had young children in the family for 21 years and now we'll have four children one year and younger.  One child will be in California, but we'll see him occasionally.  Norm would be in his glory with so many babies.

Hi everyone.  We had a very rainy evening with some lightning and thunder.  Right now it is 54 degrees and headed up to 73 this afternoon and there is only a 20% chance of more rain today.  We did get the items done yesterday that I mentioned including voting.  Our friend from Church was elected mayor and received just about twice as many votes as his opponent.  There were around 2,500 people in this small town that voted.  This morning Pat has PT at eleven and I will go to dinner at the Church tonight.  Our granddaughter said she wanted to attend this week so added her to the count and she and our son will come out to the house afterwards.

Don, it looks like you chose well your time in Israel being able to miss some of the worst weather in Canada.

Joan, we have ended up with three large TV's and one smaller one up in Pat's sewing room that we had used in our kitchen in our other house.  The layout of this house eliminates the need for a TV in the kitchen as the big TV in the living area can be seen perfectly from the kitchen or dining room area.  I also like getting the gift cards for restaurants as don't have to put it on a shelf.

Amy, glad you didn't get caught in the snow.  Keeping track of your husband's medicines must be quite a chore.

JaneS, we also had a roll-up washer and dish washer in the early years of our marriage.  I haven't thought of those items for many years.

Carol, those Javelina's sounds like mean little characters.  I have never lived where the Javelina's live.

June, hope you are feeling better today after a day of rest.

Hal, I would just as soon wait int he waiting room for my wife but the last time she asked me to go in with her hoping between us we could remember what the doctor had to say.

Sandy, you live in Maine and should have some winter weather.  It sounds like you have enjoyed a pretty mild winter so far.  Glad you won't have to get out.

Hal, wishing the best for your wife in her surgery today.  Glad you won't have to deal with the day surgery today as just sitting and waiting is very tiring.

Jenny, nice that you are close enough to your dad that you can make the road trip and not have to deal with the airlines and renting a car, etc.  I hope you have found him doing well.

JaneS, have you considered doing online bill pay?  It really works well and makes paying bills so much easier than writing checks.  You set up the payment once and it is done and in the future you just pick that payee out of your list, enter the amount and the date you want the check or payment to be sent and confirm the payment and you are done.  It is so much better than writing a check and it is cheaper too, especially is you have free bill pay as it saves stamps, which can add up.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, it is foggy and like an ice rink on the roads. Was watching the news and so many accidents this morning. It rained all day yesterday and then got cold during the night. The weather guessers are saying it will warm up to the 50's today and then a Nor'easter is due for tomorrow and in some areas up to a foot of snow.. Getting into the teens so the snow should be light and fluffy.
Quite a day for the Pats yesterday, first the big parade in Boston and them some of the team and Bob Kraft came to Providence to the Civic center for another rally.  First thin the governor has done to make everyone happy. She had the center opened for them and the public. Big crowd and they brought the 5 trophies with them.

JOAN  I sure remember having to manually change channels. Now we have the convenience of the remotes. Remember the rabbit ears and having to move them to get the picture in better? That is horrible to remember. Yet we were happy with the 3 channels we had and always found something to enjoy. These days too many channels and we have trouble finding something we like.

JOY  I have 2 grandsons who love sports but not playing, watching. The younger one knows players and their scores, no matter what sport he really gets enjoyment watching them. For our generation I think we all remember Kate Smith singing
God Bless America. She was the best.

LARRY  I heard Tom Brady's wife wants him to retire and I also heard he would like to play a few more years. Big Valley is now on Me TV. I catch it at times and still enjoy it.

DON  aren't you glad you are out of the worse part of winter this year?

HAL  hope you got in touch with everyone about the lost credit card. Like you way back we did pick up a TV station from Ohio  but local ones wouldn't come im. It was snowy but we could make it out.

AMY  glad you made it home safe yesterday.  Sure glad I do not have to go out the next day or so.

GLORIA de  tomorrow looks like it will be a day to stay home.  Then again seems like every time they predict a lot of snow it kind of never happens.

MARY ANN  congratulations on the birth of the twins.

HAL  prayers for your wife and the surgery.

JOAN  love anything apple so a fritter will be great. Good bumper stickers. Thank you for all today's goodies.

LARRY, I've paid my bills on line for almost 20 years now.  All of my utilites and all my insurance payments are automatic.  I only have to decide what to do with what's left after the auto payments.  The only checks I've written lately are about 2 a year to the church.  I try to put cash in my pledge envelopes.  It's not the time involved in paying the bills, I just don't like keeping records.  I've devised my own system and it's not too bad although my financial daughter has tried to change it to make it easier, it works for me and I'm too old to change.  I love being able to pay on line.  I just don't like paying!

Good Morning Everyone. A new day,and so far a new me. Had a good nights sleep, a good breakfast, two visits with pills and a B.P. check, and now here. I have just one thing planned for today,Gary's Bible class at 10 this morning...other things offered if my energy remains.

Bis I ran across something saved that you had posted not too long ago. It  says so much in so few words, and is such a hopeful sentence, I would like to repeat it here.

Good morning from the Interior. I was going to say the weather hasn't changed. But I see the skies are all white so I know to expect warmer weather and snow. Farrah loves my new side sleeper pillow. I think she'd prefer I get another one for me, but she has begun coming in occasionally at night to sleep on the pillow behind me for a little while. Then she's off again on her nightly errands.

I'm still sick, sinus I believe with the nightly headaches and sense of weariness. I'm like an old grizzly in his cave when sick, not sociable at all!

Hal, I hope your wife's surgery went well and that Janie's bill recording as well. I haven't written a check in probably ten years. Everything is online except for my rent. They require not cash, card or check, but a money order only. I suppose that's good because at least I have to go to town monthly. I've become a hermit other than the occasional lunch or dinner with cards out. I'm better in the summer, usually.  :-[

It sounds like everyone is feeling better and I hope everyone does and wish for a day with peace for all.

JoanFL

angelface--I am sorry you are still sick.

Jane, I really don't want anymore snow either but...will take it over freezing rain! The snow was difficult to move this morning with the thick crust of ice on it.Now don't you be poppin wheelies tonight playing in the snow!

Hal, I had to really shake the snowblower this morning to cut through the crust.....but I won.

Larry, when we go for appointments they want us to bring all his meds in the original container.and the bag is getting bigger!!

Shirley, where are you???

Angleface ,think  Nurse Farrah is looking out for you.....hope you feel better soon.

The babies have names!  Johanna Grays and Eleanor Rose.  I think Johanna is a name both liked and Eleanor has been a favorite of Alicia's.  Gray's Reef is a place on Lake Michigan in northern lower Michigan where James and Tom would go when sailing and I think they said that Rose Cove is a place by Gray's Reef.  I've never heard of someone being named after a "place" but there's always a first time.  It will be Jo hanna, not Jo anna.

Both girls and mother are getting along as good as possible.  Their pictures may be on Facebook under James' name.  I'm not on Facebook, but I have seen their pictures.

Mary Ann

angelface555

Wonderful names, MaryAnn, but then I love the old fashioned names best! I know a young girl whose family named all their kids after the places where they were conceived. It still strikes me as odd at times to see a Spanish girl named Brooklyn and her brother is Piers Point! It reminds me of my daughter's playmates in the seventies, they were sisters, Rainbow and Sunshine.

Thanks, Joan and Amy, I think I picked it up from someone in the common room at the last breakfast I went to and hopefully it will be over soon. I'm guzzling the hot tea with lemon and honey!

halkel

Wife came through with flying colors and it didn't take as long as forecast.  She goes back to see her in 10 days to have the stent taken out.  She is resting now.

Oh, Boy! all you folks on East coast are in for it tomorrow it seems.  Lots of snow and in a short period of time.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/snow-to-disrupt-travel-from-dc-to-new-york-city-and-boston-thursday/70000772

And the folks on Long Island (Gloria) lots of heavy winds and snow drifts.

12-15 inches of snow.

JoanFL

Amy--I remember when we had two snowblowers, and I used one and Ray the other.  That's a COLD back breaking job.  When our son got old enough, I relinquished the snowblower I used to him.

Mary Ann--I like the twins' first names.  The middle names are unusual.  I found James on Facebook and saw the beautiful girls.

angelface--This time of year there's many bugs circulating.

halkel--GREAT that your wife did so well.  The snow is one thing we will NOT get.

Click for Melbourne, Florida Forecast

Mary Ann

Joan, I agree the names of Grays is unusual and I can bet when she's older that some one will think it is Grace.  As I wrote, Grays Reef is a place on Lake Michigan up north of Petoskey but it is a place they used to go to when they were sailing.  Rose isn't so unusual because I've seen that name often (Mrs Kennedy Sr had that name).  I told James I could see when Johanna is 25 years old that she will have to do some explaining that she was named for a favorite place of her dad's.

Mary Ann

June Drabek

Hal, I am glad all things went well for your wife, and may God grant no recurrences of that miserable pain.

Nothing new to report from my neck of the world. We are to have sunshine for a few days and more rain possible on Friday.

Patricia, I pray we can soon put you on the healing list. You have had enough miserable days.

Gloria de, I pray the forecast Hal gave for your area will not come to pass. I hate to think of you possibly being snowbound. I am thankful you do have good and caring neighbors.

Mary Ann, I am glad the new little girl babies are born and well, and I'm sure their mother is one happy lady too. She went through a bad time for a while.

Bis, I'm sure you must resent having to use the nebulizer even though it is absolutely essential, it is one of those chores that ties you in. I recall my brother complaining fiercely. It may help the boredom by calling it your "prayer" time. God is there for sure.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

MaryAnn, I'm not unfamiliar with the name "Johanna".  One of my best friends from highschool and still one of dearest friends is named Johanna.  This is the only time I ever heard that name until now and I can't wait to tell my friend!

We will be getting some of that snow and it's supposed to be starting soon.  I'm not going to check outside.  I'll wait until morning.

Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!
