Gloria

Good morning everyone. Raining here but in the upper 30's so not ice. This is the kind of day for sleeping, dark and dreary.

JOAN my CNA thinks she is a good cook, her problem is she never stops talking.

LARRY  glad you are smart and rest when you need it. You know your limitations. For a man who never cooked you are doing great. A few recipes you can make is great.

AMY  one son and DIL had a part greyhound and she was an escape artist. When walking her with the leash she would manage to get out of her collar and take off.

GLORIA de  I have trouble getting into my Yahoo, too at times. I do not know how many times I had to come up with a new password for it.

JUNE  glad you are no longer keeping to your home and get get out and walk and meet others again. MY CNA  is far from dumb, she just likes to talk too much. As long as I have room in my freezer I can order from Schwan because everything they have is frozen.

PATRICIA  my Mom never measured anything and was a wonderful cook and could bake the best pies. I have to measure every thing. My daughter is like my Mom. She will follow a recipe the first time and after that she does it her way and uses he hands to measure. I used to make some of the food my Mom did but now I hardly can do any cooking.

JANE  I have been thinking and praying for Bethany, too young to be that sick.

PATRICIA  I use vinegar for a lot of cleaning and disinfecting, have used it for years. Too many chemicals in cleaners and in the prepared foods we eat these days.  I will check that link later and most likely send it to my daughter, too. I also use a lot of baking soda.

JUNE  if Gatorade was all I had to drink I would die of thirst. I cannot drink it, upsets my stomach.

JOAN  love waffles so will enjoy breakfast this morning. Love Chuckles. Thank you for all today's goodies.

LLOYD  continue getting better.

) G'day all, just thought you might be interested to know that I made contact (Via SKYPE) with Lloyd today, we had a nice chat and he looked quite cheery, he said he will be in hospital for a few more days, so if you read this first in S/F Lloyd, i'll give you another call tomorrow, about same time as today.. Cheers ....

Denver

A good Wednesday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

We had quite the snow....over 7 inches and it has been too cold for much of it to melt.

Thank you, JOAN, for all of our nice goodies you provide us with.  Everything you post is very special and appreciated.

SHIRLEY, I am sorry to say, I do not see the Birthday wishes I thought I left here for you.  Not sure what I did, but want you to know I was thinking about you and hoping you were enjoying YOUR special day.

PHYLLIS,  I, too, send my sincere condolences to you for the passing of your brother.  Sadly, I know many that are feeling like you do now, having lost all of their siblings, and being the only one left.  Special hugs to you.

JANE, I have been saying very special prayers for Brittany.  This issue she is dealing with is of course extremely serious and I sure hope they can get her infection under control.

JUNE, happy that you are feeling better and now can get out of your place and move around.  Those "bugs" sure can spread fast!  I hope Dori and Gary are enjoying their time in Colorado.  Hope Gary's cold will not hamper his ability to enjoy his visit here.  Are they in the Denver Area?

LLOYD, as sad as I am to read you are back in the hospital again....at l sat we know you are being cared for and are not out over doing it on your farm!  Take care my friend, and feel better soon.

JACKIE, I appreciated you sharing the news about Harry spending time with you.  My heart just aches for him... he seemed so unhappy and looked it too, in the pictures.  I know this has to be stressful for you.

LARRY, enjoy your time with Scott and Jennifer tonight.

We have just made all of our reservations to go to Austin and care for our grand puppy while his parents go to Australia.  From there we are going to my Bob's hometown of Panama City Beach, Florida to join Dr. Dave and Family for a week of beach fun and seeing relatives.  It will be fun for the 3 grands to see where their GrandBob grew up and where their daddy spent summers when he was growing up.  Sadly, it will be the first time that we all will see the empty lot where our cottage used to stand.  😩

I wish you all a good Wednesday.

Vanilla-Jackie--Your crockpot meal sounds yummy.  Would you put some in the hidey hole?

Larry--You are going to be fairly busy today.  Enjoy your family time tonight.

Mary Ann--We STILL haven't had any rain.

Gloria--It seems everyone but us is having rain.  Maybe you should come right out and tell your CNA you aren't a conversationalist.

halkel--Wow--those workmen sure are fast.

roley--Nice you were able to make contact with Lloyd in the hospital.

Jenny--Thanks for the nice comment.  Snow--ugh!!  How nice that you're going to be in Florida with Dave's family.

Where's our Janie?

Still raining, just glad it is not snow.

Thank heavens for the invention of the microwave and the crock pot, they are both helping me to make my own meals. Also the dust buster is a help, as I cannot handle the vacuum .Now the computer, helps me keep in touch with the world.

JaneS

Good Morning, Afternoon and Evening Everyfriend!  I'm home from work, had my lunch, loved up the doggies and now I'm ready for a good cup of coffee.

Today was an easier day for me since I had 2 different registers both of them express.  I don't know why it's so but I don't get as weary on the express registers as I do on the ones with the moving belt.  I see more customers on the short ones but they don't have the large orders that others have.

GOOD NEWS! Bethany is coming home today!  She can't go back to school until sometime next week but she is sufficiently on the mend that she can continue to mend at home.  She'll still be taking the strong antibiotics and she has to see the dr Friday and again Monday but "HOORAY" she's getting better!

Larry, I agree with you that her problems were unique and that's probably why it took so long to get to the source.

Sorry I didn't check in this morning.  I was running a bit late.  It sounds like everyone is on the mend and that all's well with the world.  I need eye drops and coffee so I'll leave you to your own past times.  Make it a good day!

Amy

Jane AMEN for the good news!!

I just finished off another quilt to take with me on Fri. one is a regular one and the other I think can go for a camp quilt for the kids as it is all bright colours.

Do you ever get one of those days where you just don't know what to have for supper.? I am really ashamed when I go to the freezer and see the variety in there but nothing tweeks my appetite and others would love even a scarp of food!!

Still have time to start on another quilt, maybe I can think of something tasty to have for supper??

Good morning to a cold and foggy morning as many drivers and newcomers are feeling. Presently at 10:06 AM it is 50 below with extremely dense ice fog. The eighties have returned to the Interior! Ice fog is made up of frozen particles of car emissions that hang about just like the dense fog Shirley and Jackie spoke about in England.

Farrah is at the balcony doors watching the ravens surf the wind currents and I am on the couch with that first cup of coffee and visiting you.

Janie, I am so glad to just hear Bethany is home, thanks to her strength and youth and her doctors! If you are like me, when I was on a register, the fast moving, busy ones made the time go by and you weren't as tired. It's the slow moving, boring, need to "make work" type of registers and days that really tire you out!

Larry, oh well, it was a thought. It probably wouldn't have worked out anyway as I am set in my ways the way I cook and prepare my food. Also, I'm about three thousands miles away and that would have been quite a back to back daily flight!   ;D  My two sisters are the family chefs, I'm a "meat and potatoes" cook with numerous food allergies.

I have never seen a cooking show or house hunting or "reality" show as my last TV was in 1997. I'm like my Mom and never could just sit down and watch a show and would find myself doing something else or picking up a book or magazine. When I realized I hadn't turned the television on in over a month, I got rid of it. I've tried those computer trials of Netflix or Hulu and find myself watching perhaps one show? Unfortunately, these actors have invaded the regular news or conversations so you can't help but be aware of some of the major players.

Janie, I would be worried about Bethany's fever spikes. They can do a number on the body. I hope the doctors are taking special care and I'm sure they are. It is the waiting that is so hard on families.

Lloyd, stay in the hospital and rest up a bit.

Gloria, I have a redhead's pale and very dry skin so I've learned that commercial chemicals don't really clean that well and can poison you to boot. Vinegar, rubbing alcohol and baking soda are all natural byproducts with little to no chemical processing and they clean well and without chemical odors or residues, (And no fake flowery scents!).

Jackie, your soup does sound wonderful and I bet your home smelled wonderful as well!

JoanFL

Janie--Glad you had an easier day at work.  Hooray--wonderful news about Bethany.  I pray she continues to heal.

Lloyd--Glad you checked in again.  Now go visit with Nancy.

Amy--I'm sure you'll come up with something tasty for supper.

Angelface--I can't even imagine what -50° would be like.  I read and "compute" but also watch TV.  Another "whatever floats your boat".

June Drabek

Lloyd, I am happy to read that you are enjoying your vacation in the hospital. Do take this time to examine your life, and how it is time for you to retire. You have really used or mis-used your body with hard work and accidents. Now it is time to join the rest of us in just loving life itself.

Gloria, I had a little set back in the wee hours of the morning. My leg was really giving me pain, so I had to get up and walk the floors till the time came when I could dose with some more extra strength tylenol. Then the diarrhea started again, so I am just taking it real easy today. No temperature like others have, so that is a blessing, and I guess that is why I am allowed in the hallways. And they still have me on this BRAT diet and Gatorade, and lots of water. I don't care for the gaterade either Gloria, but it does replace essentials in the body that are lost with all the bathroom trips. So, I drink it. I have had orange, lemon lime and fruit punch flavors.

Hal, I do hope you have more than one bathroom. ::)

Roley , thank you for your input on Lloyd. He is able to talk with us on the computer, but it is nice to have you here  too.

Jenny, do enjoy your trips that you and Bob will be taking. I'm so happy for you that you can do these things. The Fl. trip sound especially inviting. Enjoy ! Oh..Gary did not go to Colorado with Dori, after their two weeks in Idaho,he had to stay home and take care of his Church duties. It was more Dories friend anyway.

Gloria de, I sure wouldn't worry about the dust...it will wait for you. Better you get rested and healed. This life of leisure suits me just fine...I can sleep both night and day, and I do.

Carol, how nice that you had five days with your daughter, I just know you enjoyed every minute of her visit.

Janie girl, I'm glad you had an easier day at work, you deserve the very best of all you do. And I am SO delighted to hear that Bethany was able to go home. I'm sure she will heal much faster with her own family around her.

Just had my temperature taken and it is normal, so I'm sure I can walk the hallways again.

We are having a cloudy day with rain expected later this evening till who knows when...I just hope if happens. I love to see the rain falling and cleaning the air and everything else it touches.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

June--You had a little set back, but at least you can leave your apartment.  Haven't they prescribed something stronger than Tylenol for the leg pain?

Click for Melbourne, Florida Forecast

June Drabek

Bis, yes, they do have something a bit stronger, but I have to call down for it. With the tylenol I can dose it myself, as it is over the counter. It is about the same strength, and like their med, it can only be taken every six hours, so I'm sure it gives the same amount of relief. I keep a written record of when I take it, so I am still fairly responsible. Thanks be to God.

I counted six people on my side of the the third floor that are ill, so it is evidently a virus easily spread. I keep our care givers in prayer..they are so needed and so encouraging in every way.

It is still very cloudy here, so I expect to see rain drops coming ere long.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

June Drabek

No rain yet, nothing happening anywhere, and I am not missing any programs, because I found out that everything is canceled till they get this bug under control. We really are in isolation.  My friend over in D building said she went down to the first floor, she is well, and said it is like a grave yard. The tables are all bare of everything and it was very barren. Meals are delivered to all buildings..big dining room is closed.

And I hear raindrops falling...loverly......

It is very quiet in here too, so I think I will clean up, go to bed and start a new book. See you all tomorrow. God Bless you and keep you safe and well and happy. I love you. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

halkel

June, yep do have another bathroom.  But they set the new commode and will finish up tomorrow on everything.  These guys don't stop they put in a full 9 hours today.

June, sorry to hear you had a set back.  Do take it easy and let your body rest.  Those hallways will do very well without you walking them

I don't know why I am so tired tonight, didn't do anything but set on my duff and watch TV or listen to the radio.  Wife went to the movie while I babysat the workmen.  I will be gone tomorrow morning and wife is playing cards with her group.

Nite everyone, God bless and sweet dreams

Shirley

I've read all the posts & sounds like everyone has life under control for the moment so I will take me to bed.  My brain is already asleep.  I fell asleep about 6:30 pm & woke up a little after 9:00.  Cats had been fed at 6:00 but they are used to coming in again so felt neglected.  Busy, busy, busy, busy day..... Naming Twins

A woman had twins and gave them up for adoption at birth. One of the twins went to a family in Egypt and was named "Amal." The other twin went to a family in Spain, and they named him "Juan."

Years later, Juan sent a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she told her husband that she wished she also had a picture of Amal.

Her husband responded, "But they are twins. If you've seen Juan, you've seen Amal."

Food For Thought

Good Citizen Mordecai
By Arie Leder
Scripture Reading: Esther 2:17-3:6

Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate . . . .
Esther 2:19
In the days of Ruth and Esther people went to the city gate for advice, for legal decisions, for wisdom. All the worthwhile news and gossip were available there also. Mordecai spent time sitting at the king’s gate, and while he was there, he overheard plans to assassinate the king. Because he let the right people know about this plot, Mordecai saved the king’s life. Good citizen Mordecai.
At this gate Mordecai also refused to kneel to Haman, the newly elevated, second most powerful official in Persia. Haman, we learn, was a descendant of Agag, an Amalekite king, and God had declared the Amalekites his enemy long ago because they had attacked his people when they were weak and vulnerable in the desert (Exodus 17:8-16; Deuteronomy 25:19). We also know that Mordecai was from the same clan as Saul, Israel’s first king. Mordecai refused to honor God’s ancient enemy.
The apostle Peter teaches us to honor human authorities for the Lord’s sake (1 Peter 2:13-17). Servants of the Lord who live by these instructions are good citizens. But Peter also warns against God’s ancient enemy, the devil, who seeks to destroy us. Servants of God who resist the devil, along with others around the world who undergo suffering for Christ, are good citizens of the kingdom of God. And God promises that he will strengthen us and give us courage to face what lies ahead (1 Peter 5:8-10).
Strengthen me, Lord, to be a good citizen of heaven as I seek to live wisely here on earth. Amen.

Finally a sunny morning!  So nice to see and it will make the hunting/gathering chore go more smoothly.

Gloria, because of your posts I am trying Schwan's delivery today.  I'll see if it is suited to my needs as to whether I continue or not.  My body is still able to do the cooking.....my desire to do it is not.  If I have a few easy to prepare meals in the freezer then I can always add healthy vegetables/fruit to it and feel that I am doing the right thing by David and myself and not just neglecting to fulfill one of my homemaker "duties".  Gosh, I get lazier by the day!

I hope that those of you that are ill will feel much better and that All of us will have a good day.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, have not woke this early in quite awhile. Still dark out and here I am with my first cup of coffee. This I like better than waking at 8:30  or later.

HAL  when workers know what they are doing it does not take long for them to get going and do a good job. Hope they clean up after themselves when they are done.

JENNY  it is sad to see the home where you grew up gone. I remember going by where places I lived to see the house gone or the neighborhood change so much I would not want to live there anymore.

JOAN  when I pulled up the shade in the bedroom and looked out it is still misting. I have repeatedly told her I do not like all the talking she does.  I have been telling her that for more than a year but it is her personality. She knows me by now and how fussy I am about housework. She is from a big family and like most families they talk a lot.

GLORIA de  like you I cannot do much anymore and the microwave sure helps. I am lost when my computer is not working. This last time I went downstairs to try getting here on a computer in the library. 4 computers and only 1 works only cannot get  online anymore with it. Has XP on  it and you can only play games on it  now. The company that owns this building is too cheap to even get the computers in the office working right.

JANE  so happy that Bethany is going home. Prayers continue for a full recovery. I know when I was working a day keeping busy was better than a slow day, that tired me more.

LLOYD  glad you can keep in touch with us while you are in the hospital.

AMY I have a freezer full of food and some days none of it looks appetizing to me. Wish I could get my appetite back.

PATRICIA  I have used vinegar for cleaning for years. Good for keeping ants out too. My CNA has started using it at her home. Some that I have had just want to use those chemical sprays especially around the sink and counters.  I do not have any of those cleaners.

JUNE  I do not care what flavor Gatorade I have tried it has upset my tummy. Just does not agree with me.

HAL  looks like you have a crew of good workers doing that bathroom. Now let's hope they clean up good before they leave.

SHIRLEY  hope you slept good last night.

JOAN  yummy breakfast this morning. Good one about the twins. Thank you for today's goodies.

JANE  we all have trash to get rid of.

PHYLLIS  today I will have some of Schwan's chicken noodle soup. I had a delivery yesterday. At first they wanted me to order every 2 weeks and the first delivery was between 6-8 pm. I had seen the truck go by in the afternoon and called and told them I did not want evening delivery and would order when I wanted to. Now that is what I do and my delivery is between 10 am and 2 pm. Those are hours I can handle better. So far I have liked what I have ordered.

JoanFL

Good morning, Phyllis.  I'm glad for you that you finally have some sun.  I'll be interested in your opinion about Schwinn.

Gloria--I think your CNA is just "dense" about the talking.  Does the chicken noodle soup come in single serving size?

I am going to go stretch out on the couch.  When I was coming to my computer to check posts, I slipped on my oxygen tubing and went crashing to my knees on the tile kitchen floor.  I flipped over and sat there--knocked what little wind I have out of me.  I finally scooched over to a chair and pulled myself up.  My knees are scraped and hurting.

larryhanna

Hi everyone.  We will only be in the mid-60's today with no chance of rain.  The sky is clear and the sun is bright this morning.  Today will be my typical Thursday with coffee with friends, the Wisdom group at church, and then I will pick up an online grocery order from Walmart before coming home with a brief stop at Aldi's.  We did go to COSTCO yesterday and Pat picked out new glasses while I did the shopping.  Fortunately, we each were able to use the riding carts.  However, yesterday was another day where I experienced a lot of weariness and as soon as I got home I skipped lunch and laid down for about 3 hours to rest.  I did get to the Wednesday night dinner at church with Scott. My granddaughter wasn't feeling well so he took her dinner home to her in a box after we finished and then he came out and spent a couple of hours with us.

I did read in the newspaper yesterday that our little town will have a Dairy Queen open by the end of April.  It is to be on an out parcel where our closest Walmart is located.  I am delighted but realize it will be a great temptation as I do like those Dairy Queen Blizzards.

Jenny, what a nice trip you all have planned.  Are you driving on this trip so you can take your scooter?  It is sad to see where we have grown up or often visited and find it just an empty lot or a new structure on it.

JaneS, glad to see that Bethany has improved and was able to go home.  Glad you had a less tiring day at Walmart by working on the express registers.  Do the cashiers get to take turns working on them?

Lloyd, good to see your posting.  I hope your stay in the hospital won't be too long.

Patricia, several years ago I flew from Atlanta to San Francisco to attend a SeniorNet meeting and that trip convinced me to never make such a long flight again.

June, sorry to read of your setback and hope you are again feeling better today.

Hal, it sounds like you found very good workmen to do your remodeling.

Phyllis, enjoy your hunting and gathering.  It is a beautiful day to the South of you as well.

Gloria, glad you are happy with the Schwan's foods.  As I remember we were also happy with what we ordered from them.

Joan, falls are so frightening and I hope you were not hurt too badly with your fall although your knees will probably not feel good for awhile.  Sure glad you didn't break a bone.

Joy

Good morning, Joan.  Oh, I am so disappointed that I didn't get in here and see what you were offering for breakfast. I would have preferred that to what I had.  But, at least it was nourishing. LOL  I just love croissants and will be sure to check first before I decide what to have.

Phyllis, I hope you will be happy with your Schwan's order.   I have really not had anything that I didn't like.  There are some things that I like better than others, but I have mostly been pleased.

Gloria,  I have never had anyone tell me that they would like me to order every 2 weeks.  I order when I want something.  I have not gotten anything since before Christmas. I will probably order something next time.  And, my delivery man never calls me when he comes just to see if I need anything.  I usually order online and will go down to the lobby when it is about time for him to come.  They give a time-frame from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

He did leave some new order books down in the lobby and I see where they have the tilapia loins .  There are 4 nice size pieces for 10.99
You fix them frozen.  I spread both sides of the fish with mayonnaise and sprinkle different kinds of seasoning , Old Bay, dill, and whatever else I want, and wrap them in foil and bake them in my toaster oven.  They are really good.  But, then, again, I do like most any kind of fish. I also want to get some more chicken pot pies.  I like to have them on hand.  Yes, a lot of their things are high in salt, but I use them all in moderation.  I never add anymore salt to anything.

I need to get a shower and go down to get my mail, which I haven't gotten for a couple days.  I have just been so sleepy for the past 3 days. Just couldn't seem to be able to stay awake.  I would  start to read and almost fall immediately asleep.  And, I did still sleep at night.  I feel a little more awake this morning.

Hope everyone who is ailing will have a better day today.  The sun is shining today, so that should help me feel better.

Have a good day.

Oh, Joan, I am so sorry to read about your fall.  You were posting while I was writing and didn't see your message till after I finished.

I sure hope that you won't have any serious after=effects from the fall.  I have often wondered about people who have to drag that long oxygen tube around with them. I would be terrified of falling over it.  Sure hope you will be ok.

I know how scary it is when you fall.  I am so afraid of falling all the time.   I have trouble with my right foot that doesn't want to go where I want it to go.  And, I am so conscious of making sure I place that foot where it is supposed to be.  I have gotten so slow getting around.

Please be careful.
