I am so sorry June to hear that you fell again and hurt your leg.     That is too bad.   I know that you like to get up and walk around in the middle of the night ...

Falling down so much can not be good for you.
Please take care...

June, you really don't need any more falls.  Actually, I guess it was your Rollator that caused the fall.  I imagine you will have another ache in your leg.

Being Sunday, I did go to church, but this afternoon I doubt I would have been able to tell anyone what day it was - I was just unaware of the day until I saw it on my computer.

It is cold here and hasn't been over 27 degrees all day and at 4:20 pm it isn't going to get any warmer.

hI, I was still writing and away my post went.  I was trying to write June you need a big hug :rose:
Well this time while I am writing a neighbor came in to check on me.

By the way I had patten leather shoes for Sundays. till I was five, I wore high laced shoes, to straighten my ankles. Of course as a teenager I wore saddle shoes, high heels for work.

Now I think I am finished post for to day

June, I feel so bad for you.  Another bo-bo.  I hope they can get those things to heal.   :hugs:

June--I am so very sorry you fell and now have another wound.  I pray this new one doesn't take so long to heal.

Hi Sandy and Linedancer.

Mary Ann--It's cold here, too, but not like there.  It's been between 40° and 50° all day, and you know for here that is COLD.

halkel--Hi.

Amy, I have to confess that I was curious about your new avatar so I downloaded it into my photo & graphic program and enlarged and sharpened the enlargement before deleting it. First I wanted to say it was nice to finally meet you and two, my gosh that it a lot of snow! I haven't seen that much snow outside of Colorado!

Amy

Thank you Angleface, that was taken a few years back when we had some snow. :)
Will try to show some of this years snow....you must get a lot where you live though.

Mary Ann, Nope I sure don't want any more falls. I have times like you described, I just can't rely on my brains any more. I look at the date in some of my prayer reading books, and have to recheck on my cell phone or the computer to make sure I have the day and date correspond. A weird feeling for sure. I try to explain to my son about my mind failures, and he reassures me that it is just a natural happening for a 92 year old human being. And it's always, "Don't worry about it Mom. It isn't that important". I had to skip Church, just too sore to do much of anything.

Gloria de…me too with the saddle shoes, and it was "the" thing that the more soiled look the shoe, the more "in" we were. About the same time in the winter we wore wool baby blanks on our heads..like a big kerchief, or as they called them in Polish, Babushka.

Hal, thank you for your good thoughts. I understand it was the door itself. It closes so quickly and so hard. It has a magnet to hold it open but you have to be sure it is secure. My son checked the door today and said I should report it as they can fix it to stay open by itself. And that is true, as I have seen some of the doors that do stay part way open and need to be manually closed. So I will take the problem to the main desk tomorrow and get it resolved.

Bis, I too hope the cut will not take as long to heal as the other one is. It is in God's hands, so what will be, will be.

Amy, thank you. I hope your winter will be a light one. You work so hard in so many things that need doing. Winter should be a time of staying inside and doing your quilting.

I went to our small dining room for supper tonight, and got really filled up, so it will be an early to bed tonight. May you all have a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow. Hugs, Love and Prayers June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Food For Thought

Bread in Bethlehem
By Arie Leder
Scripture Reading: Ruth 3:14-18

Don’t go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed.
Ruth 3:17
Naomi and her family had left Bethlehem because of a famine, and she returned years later at the beginning of a harvest. Through Ruth, God had begun to alleviate Naomi’s food problems with regular visits to Boaz’s fields, but Naomi was still bereft of her husband and sons. Who would fill that emptiness?
When Ruth returned from the threshing floor, she poured out six measures of barley, telling Naomi that Boaz had said, “Don’t go back to your mother-in-law empty-handed.” Naomi was ecstatic, because she recognized that with this food Boaz had put a down payment on her family’s future.
“Silver or gold I do not have,” said the apostle Peter. “But what I do have I give you.” And in Jesus’ name he told a lame man to walk, and the man was able to walkâ€"and to jump and to praise God too (Acts 3:6-10). In a similar way, Naomi was given renewed life. Ruth would bear a son. Naomi would have a family to take care of herâ€"and through that family Israel would receive a king who would bring an end to the emptiness of the time of the judges.
We too have received a down payment: “You were marked in [Christ] with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possessionâ€"to the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:13-14).
Help us, Lord, to live faithfully by your Spirit’s guidance as we look forward to the time when our redemption will be complete. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought of the Day

Good Morning Everyfriend. The temp here is 25º heading for a high of only 32 with snow predicted for tomorrow early a.m. into the time I should be heading to work.  I hope the prediction is wrong.  But I'm going to make sure the car in under roof for the night.

I slept very well last night without the assistance of any medicine.  My back seems to be at least 90% better.  However, I'm still planning to keep my chiropractor's appt. on the 6th.

JUNE, I'm so sorry to hear that you've fallen again.  Darn cart!  I hope this cut is faster to heal than the other one and I hope it doesn't hurt as much.

I hope you all have a day full of whatever pleases you most.

Good morning, Janie.  I am so glad that your back is so much better.  It's 50° presently at my house.  They say tonight we'll go down in the 30s.  Now that is darned cold for here.  Hope your vehicle continues to start with your cold temps.

Today the housekeepers come, so I'd better do a bit of picking up my messes.

I have been reminded that I haven't mentioned in here about the sad news about my daughter-in-law in Arizona.  This is the wife of my #2 son, and the grandmother of the two year old twin boys.

She was in remission for about 8 years from colon cancer, and then a couple of months ago it was discovered that she had developed pancreatic cancer, woth the liver was also involved.  She was given a choice - no chemo and six months or chemo and possibly 21/2 years.  She opted for the chemo but the results of that were so devastating that she has cancelled them.  So now she is home, with hospice in attendance, and the family prays and waits.

Any prayers you offer are, of course, very welcome.

Good morning everyone, Another gray one with 24° Just heard there will still be some light snow the next 2 days. Figures, I have appointments both days. At least I do not have a dentist appointment till April. Got those back to spring and fall.

AMY  one of the men here had a motorcycle with 3 wheels. He no longer has a car so he uses it to get around town. Hope we do not get the show you are getting. If there is a lot tomorrow I will cancel my appointment. My son will take me on Wednesday and I trust his driving. Do not know the driver I will have tomorrow and I am not a comfortable passenger with a stranger's driving.

GLORIA de  my Mom did the same with a turkey carcass. It was a case of waste not want not. Don't know if it was from the depression years or from having a big family. I really want to keep my appointment tomorrow, that is with the pain doctor. No more of the little neighborhood markets. I miss them. They would get to know their customers. Not like the big super markets now. I remember spending $15 a week for the 5 of us. My order that will be delivered today was well over $100 and that is just for me, more that a week supply though.

MARY ANN  we had a great meat market here in town but the owner was elderly and his son was not interested in the business so he finally closed up. Bakeries are another thing that have closed. Markets have all those things now.

PATRICIA  we sure never wore our school clothes out to play. Now we wear glove only on cold days, nothing fancy.

MARY ANN  if I put a pair of shoes with high heels now I would break something by falling.  I remember dancing in them, even the JitterBug. These days I would not attempt to try dancing like that.

JUNE  I am so worry you fell again. Wonder what made your rollator/cart collapse. About half the people living here have rollators and I never heard of any collapsing. I hope you do not get another infection in your leg.  Our doors shut fast, too. They can be fixed to stay open but the manager will not allow it. Says in case of fire the doors have to close that way. It is hard getting in and out. I have to back into the door to get in here.

JOAN  breakfast looks good this morning, have not had panini's in ages. Product Labels, some are really dumb aren't they? Great quote. Thank you for all today's goodies.

LLOYD  glad you are still taking it easy. About time you think of yourself.

JANE  hopt the snow for tomorrow does not happen.

JEANNE LEE  so sad about your DIL. Prayers will be said for her.

Hi everyone.  I am getting a bit of a late start here in the discussions as didn't want to get out of bed this morning.  However, I have things in order and just waiting for Pat to get up and will quickly be able to prepare her breakfast. It is another beautiful morning with it currently being 40 degrees and headed only to 53 degrees.

Pat did go to Sunday School and Church with me yesterday and then we did eat out.  The only thing away from the house today is my Monday noon meeting and then getting the car filled with gas as the three hours of driving last week brought the gauge down alot.  The rest of the day I intend to take things slow and easy as need to recover from a busy week last week.

Jackie, we only paid $10 for the cemetery plot.  Had we continued to live in the area where we grew up it would have been feasible but not anymore.  It is a beautiful place out on a hill by itself and always very peaceful.

Gloria, I get one or two daily emails with only three items on each so don't spend much time on the Babamail site each day.

deAngel, I remember the first time we stocked up on food and spices, etc, was in Lincoln, Nebraska at a Piggly Wiggly store and we did the whole thing on $25.  At that time it seemed like a lot of money and we had several sacks of things when we left the store.   We never lived where we had a milkman (we were our own on the dairy farm as I grew up) nor a breadman.  I only vaguely remember the old ice boxes as the REA came in with electricity when I was probably six years old and then we had an electric refrigerator.

Mary Ann, you brought back a memory of my youth about the merchandise in the stores being behind counters and a clerk got the item off the shelf for you.

June, what a shocking turn of events and another wound to deal with on the same leg.  I wonder why your cart gave way but now see it was the door that caused the problem.

Gloria, we have some very delicious soup made from pat boiling the chicken bones from the baked chickens we get at COSTCO.

Amy

Jeanne Lee, prayers for your ddil and for you too.....

Jeanne Lee, of course you and your DIL and Son's family have my prayers.  It is a difficult time for all of you to go through but Hospice is a wonderful organization and they will make her as comfortable as they possibly can.

I didn't want to get up this morning either, Larry.  It was so nice and cozy under my quilt.

June, I'm so sorry that you had the accident with the cart/door.  I am crossing my fingers that this cut will heal more quickly than the last leg wound has.  But, since the nurse treated it very quickly it might not become infected and will close up much quicker.

Laundry is in and I am headed to the kitchen to do some puttering around.  As Callie says, CUL8r.   :hello:

Good morning, Gloria.  I hope the weather cooperates tomorrow so you can get out for your shot.  IK really enjoy panini's.

Lloyd--I never happened to hear that about asparagus.

Hi Janie and Amy.

Larry--Good morning.  Great that Pat made it through Sunday School and Church yesterday.  I never let me gas gauge get below 1/2.

Good morning, Phyllis.  What are you cooking today?

I am looking for Ginger Wright's snail mail address.  Does anyone here have it?  You can PM it to me if you don't want to put it up in here.  Andrea Flannery is wanting to get in touch with Ginger and her email doesn't work. Says she is UNKNOWN.

Mary Ann

June, don't worry about memory losses, we all have them.  After all, think of all of the knowledge you have acquired in all those years.  There's only room for so much and something has to go.

Jeanne Lee, I'm sorry about your DIL.  One thing I know about pancreatic cancer is it is rapid, no hanging on like so many others.  Norm's former MIL had it and it was almost three months from the day of diagnosis that she died.

It was 14 degrees at 10:30 pm when I went to bed last night.  I forgot to look this morning, but it is about 21+ now at 11:20 am.  I got up late this morning and I still am not dressed.  I've had part of the breakfast Tom brings me from Mc D's and I'd better finish it for lunch.
