Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Good morning from the usual day in the Interior. Farrah has begun to believe we live to serve her and that is a very good thing. indeed! I have run out of treats and she is panicking. Yesterday she ran over to me, rose up with her front paws on my legs and loudly pled "WIN!" And I felt guilty for running out!

Sandy, I am no longer on Facebook, but perhaps Gloria can pass on your message? Martex should, hopefully, be easier to find.

Everyone have a good day as you want it to be.

Sandy

Thanks Patricia...
I am already friends with Marg on Facebook.

Gloria your comment about those steep paths reminded me of my last trip to Israel. There was a recently discovered "city of David" excavated in old Jerusalem that I wanted so badly to see,  but the hill was so steep it would have been impossible for me climb it, so I had to pass up the new adventure.

JaneS

I'd probably be able to go down the hill to almost anywhere but they'd need to call in a crane to get me back up the hill.  I don't do "up" very well at all.  If they had stairs and a railing, I'd be fine but not a steep hill.

I'm going to go work on the curtains until the sofa hollers at me.  I'm really tired and I'd like to walk past the curtains and straight to the sofa but I won't!

Have a good day Everyfriend!

Good afternoon, almost time for my soap, Gen. Hospital. I have watched it for 50 years.  Just got home from shopping, had to go on my own, as Diana had to take her hubby to the doctor to day. Good and bad experinces. I was at the vegie counter and a black lady walked over to me and said you are cute.  I was so suprised only thing I said was "Thank You", then there was no packer to day at the checkout counter, so I helped the clerk baging, a nice man came out of line, put my bags in the shopping cart.  Got out to the car, the pick up shopping cart man, stood and waited for me to put my bags in the car.  I could not believe that, I do not think he spoke english.  I would have tipped him if he had t helped.  Got home and my neighbor came over and brought them in. I got home safte, so I look at it as a good day.

Larry, I just gave my feather weight singer to my DIL. I never had any trouble with it, and my husband took  care of it.  Dennis was 5months old  when I bought it on time.  He would now be 69

Gloria, all afternoon yesterday the weatherman kept warning about heavy rain thunder etc.  This is the 2nd time this has happen. Look to the west and the sky kept getting brighter, looked across to Conn, and look like they were getting our weather.

Phone rang, R took call, our next door neighbour man...asking if we could either close our windows ( our hottest day of the year, temps been in the mid 80s to 90s, or to turn our tv down as he can hear it, said he is in the garden...R politely obliged....I can see we are going to have trouble with him....His lady partner recently told me the reason she chose to come into my home rather than invite me into theirs was that on the outside he seems sociable, but he isn't a sociable person....Both myself and R have never had any problems with neighbours, I think we need to be aware of him, re, our arguments and noisy barking Toby.....This has left us both in disbelief, its certainly not something I nor R would do to a neighbour, let alone a new neighbour....R is in the garden peeling vegetables, if neighbour was aware, he could have called out to him, not gone indoors to phone us......Oh well, maybe this has opened up our eyes...will keep us on our toes...

Angelface--Farrah seems to think she's the "queen" now.:)  Some bad weather up there.  Thanks for the link.  I will listen when I am done here.

Radioman--I couldn't climb a hill, but I could come down if the distance wasn't too great.

Janie--Good luck finishing those curtains so you can answer the couch's call.

Linedancer--I'd say that generally your trip to the grocery was a good one.

Vanilla-Jackie--I wouldn't care to have that man for a neighbor.  If he doesn't want to hear any noise at all he should move out where there are no other homes.

Joan, we have both sat out in the garden today, ( not together. ) R been out longer than me doing his Sudoku..... I am sure next door neighbour has been around in his garden as I heard another mans voice once or twice...and I know at times our tv has been left on as it often is when I come into the computer room...some of our windows have been open all day...He phoned around 7.30 - 8pm, it just doesn't make any sense....our tv was no louder than usual....apparently he could hear our news channel...Anyway I shall now be aware of him, or should that be, wary of him.....

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--If I were you, I'd just ignore the man.  He's definitely not a friendly neighbor.

Mary Ann

I'm probably the only one who thinks this way, but I wonder if there is another location for Jackie's TV.  Regardless of how sociable or unsociable the man is, he should not have to listen to your TV.  I would not want to sit on my deck and have to listen to my neighbor's TV and I live in a 4-unit building so we are closer together than individual homes.  Remember - his rights end where yours begin - and vice versa.

This has been a very good day for me. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a plain old good day. I'm thankful.

Will have supper at home (half of what I had for lunch) then down for the final program of music and song. Had a fun time at our balance and mobility, and it has sure grown in number from when I first moved here.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

JaneS

Good day for me too, June.  Lots of smiles at work, and I finished all the curtains that I have for Cathy's new house today.  I only have two panels to go and I couldn't take them because they are in the bathroom.  She'll use two from the bedroom while I do the bathroom ones.

Now I'm going to go watch JAG and then go to bed so I'll say....

Good Night Everyfriend!

Janie, I'm glad you had such a good day, with lots of smiles. Mine was good too. Went to a program tonight..it was O.K., but I'm ready for an early bed.

I wish you all God best Blessings and I send you more Prayers, Love and Hugs. June.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Joan, oh yes I shall be ignoring this man, not that I see much of him anyway but, it has always been plesant over the fence type of chat.....Our main problem now could be that being a Parkhome with manager on site and rules to follow, anyone could put in a complaint, then verbal, then written warnings, etc, etc...Now I just feel he could well be one who would not hesitate to do this.....anyway I am now on my guard...

Mary Ann, its not the turning down of our TV that's got my back up, although windows have been open before and our tv sound has not altered nor is it loud, but the fact on our hottest day of the year touching the 90s,.....this crazy man told us to either turn down our tv of which we have obliged or to CLOSE our windows, that speaks for itself that he is crazy....

Hm maybe it was our tv " news " that he was objecting to, as that was what he told R he could hear....maybe he found it depressing...Oh and our tv is in the same spot our previous tenants had theirs....where the aerial connection point is...

Where neighbours are concerned my motto is, a little " toleration " goes a long long way in keeping good neighbour harmony...

JoanFL

Good Wednesday morning, Everyfriend.  There's biscuits and gravy to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a good day!!

Commputer Games

Finally, after years of testing business software, I landed my dream job -- trying out computer games. My first day at work I was listing various ideas in a spreadsheet program when my manager walked by. He looked at my screen for a moment, then said sternly, "I'd better not catch you using spreadsheets on company time when you know you should be playing games."

Fields Ready for the Harvest
(Author Unknown)

We had a visiting brother speaking in our assembly today. One of the passages that he touched on was John 4:35, "...Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest."

This speaker commented that we hear a lot about a perishing earth these days, and very little about a perishing world. How true! People everywhere are talking about the danger that the earth is in from the threats of climate change, pollution, global warming, etc. But how little we, as Christians, hear about the danger that the world full of souls is in from the threat of perishing in their sins. Could it be that we are more interested in the fate of the earth than we are in the destiny of the world?

It was this matter of a lost and dying world that was the Lord's concern in John 4. He spoke of the world as being full of vast fields of people awaiting the gospel message, but who would reap this great harvest?

The speaker noted how the entire city of Nineveh was saved from judgment and brought to repentance through the words of one very reluctant witness, Jonah. And, if God can do this with a reluctant witness, what could he do with me, as a willing witness fully devoted to him?

We are constantly investing in our homes, our cars, our pensions, etc; but how much are we investing in eternity? I suppose most people's first question is: How does one invest in eternity?

The speaker noted 3 ways that we can invest in eternity:

Invest in unbelievers. The harvest is certainly ready.

Invest in your local church. The church is Christ's body.

Invest in your marriage and in your family. The family is God's design for society. He values it and we should value it as well and invest time into both our families and marriages.

Where are you investing your life today?

Good Wednesday morning Joan.....

Another hot day but not going to be as hot as yesterday, yesterdays weather was unbearable....we in UK are just not use to it....

Our local hair-dresser is due any minute to cut Rs hair....she does as many as 6 or 7 clients on our parkhome site, think normally she comes every 6 weeks.....this will be Rs first time using her....She is such a nice young girl, a girl I would proudly like to be my daughter....She does horse-riding not too far from where we are, loves dogs and is a real nice, pleasant, friendly, very attractive in both looks, and personality, girl...

I took my breakfast outside in the garden, in this fresh morning heat, made a real pleasure but, there were a couple of farm machines in the field to our back, I could hear a couple of guys having a real  old natter and a good laughing session, makes one feel we are really out in the country of which we are, but the sea is only a short distance away, we have the best of both worlds....I feel so blessed to be living here....

Joan, re, " thought of the day..." reminds me of that hymn...." One Day at a Time Sweet Jesus...." Link.....

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Joanie and Junee, I also like Lincoln's observation of the future.

I'll be off to meet my public at Wally World again today.  And Cathy will stop this afternoon after work and pick up her finished curtains and drop off the white ones for me to do.  Then that is one job we will both have finished by this weekend.

I hope you all have a pleasant day today.

Good morning, Junee.  I am glad you like it.

Vanilla-Jackie--Good morning.    How nice that the hairdresser comes to your home.  I've never heard of one here that does that.  You sure do have the best of both worlds.  Once in a while, when it's not too hot, I take my coffee out on my screened in porch and do enjoy that.

Good morning, Janie.  I know you and Cathy will be happy to have the curtains done.  Hopefully everyone at WM will be wearing a big smile today.

Nothing to eat or drink for me this morning.  I have to go to the vampire for fasting bloodwork.

Good morning everyone.

The trip to the city went well yesterday and we were on our way back home by 12 pm. after stopping for dh to get his hair cut.

Good morning, Lloyd.  Please keep yourself hydrated working out in that hot weather.

Amy--Good morning.  Good your trip went well yesterday.  I am not one to eat the first thing when I get up because I am not hungry.  Why is it when one has to fast they feel they are starving the first thing? :)

Vanilla-Jackie

Joan, I guess its because of that feeling, that we can't have,..... that starts getting our belly's thinking of hunger and food.....that being out of control...We want to eat when we want to eat.... ;)

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--I think you are exactly right.

Gloria

Good morning everyone. Oh last night was nice and cool and just right for sleeping.  Was a perfect night for sitting out on the porch and there were a few of us who enjoyed it. Not like when I first moved here when the porch would be crowded on most all evenings. Today will be a nice day for sitting out as long as it is in the shade. By the week end the humidity and temperature will be up again.

PATRICIA  my grandson set me up on Facebook when he set up this PC. All I wanted was to see the pictures they posted on my little great grandson.  Right off the bat I had so many who wanted to be my friend. A friend of a friend, etc. I don't have time for that. Seldom check it anymore. I had lost my contacts when they worked on this lemon of a PC. And slowly am getting some back.

DON  seems we have a chance to see something wonderful as we age  but are in no condition to enjoy it. At least you have been to Israel and seen some very historic places .

JANE  now stairs would not work for me anymore. Going to my grandson's home is getting to be more than I can handle. Might have to forego his son's first birthday party.

GLORIA de  the weather guessers sure have been wrong at least 90% of the time lately.

JACKIE  my computer is between the TV and the AC. To hear the TV when the AC is running I have to turn the volume up and I was worried the lady under me would start complaining. I saw her yesterday and asked if she could hear it. She said no and asked if I could hear hers.  No was my answer.

JANE  glad those curtains are done for now. Like all good mothers, we do everything we can for our children, no matter the age. Wish I could get Jag.

JOAN  would enjoy the biscuits minus the gravy.  Thank you for today's goodies.

JUNEE  we do only live one day at a time. All we do have is now.

LLOYD  be careful out in that sun and heat.

AMY  glad yesterday went good.

Hi everyone.  Another clear day is underway on this Wednesday.  The cement block layers at hard at work already this morning, but now have finished, after a long day out in the sun yesterday. The next phase of the project will begin can now proceed which involves getting ready to and then pouring the cement floor.

Late yesterday afternoon we went down to Pizza Hut and I had the Tuesday night buffet and Pat had their chicken wings, which she really liked.  We came home and watched an hour or so of the convention and then decided we had heard enough speeches for one day.

Pat has an appointment to get her hair cut this morning and I have nothing on the schedule.  This being Wednesday we look forward to some time with Scott probably this evening.  I don't know whether Pat will want to eat at home this evening or go out for a good late lunch with Scott.  However, I am guessing it will be to stay home and eat this evening.

Yesterday I found a customer service number to call about my failed garden hose.  I spoke with a very pleasant man and he sent me the requirements for replacing the hose under the warranty.  This involved cutting off both ends of the hose and taking a picture of it showing the fitting so they could prove it was their hose.  Secondly I needed to submit a picture of the hose failure, which I took several days ago.  Lastly they asked for proof of purchase, which I had in my Amazon order archive and just copied it.  I submitted they these photos along with a brief description of the problem.  Within thirty minutes I heard back from the man that he was putting in the order to send me a new hose.  The hardest part was cutting off the ends of the hose but I accomplished it.  So that problem should be solved.

Gloria, I am like you and several others here that just don't do well on inclines as soon am totally out of breath.  It is a shame that those with a visable handicap are not allowed to do those jobs that require a brain over brawn.  With the tools now available such as special keyboards, etc, many people are now able to do things like anyone else and it should open more doors.  The University Hospital has its own lab so we get fast results.  This was the same way with Kaiser as most results are available that evening of the blood draw.

Jackie, you did what you felt was the right thing to do.  We are not responsible for others may take what we say as that is totally out of our control.  Many of us have a predisposition for various medical conditions such as a family history of heart problems or cancer.  These family members certainly didn't will these things upon themselves.  It sounds like your neighbor is one who is not tolerate of others and will likely not be a very good neighbor.  Life isn't all about him.  You are certainly trying to be a good neighbor in turning down the volume.  However, some people are hard of hearing and need to have the volume up.  Perhaps he should close his window.

Joan, the quote from Abraham Lincoln was right on the mark.  There is no way I would want to know what joys or sorrows tomorrow may hold for me.  It is all right to plan but I no longer set expectations as find my life is much more enjoyable to deal with things as they arise.  I hope you enjoyed your breakfast out this morning.

deAngel, you certainly have been a faithful watcher of the soap opera.  Your grocery shopping experience was both good (the man in line helping) and not so good (the grocery cart man who wouldn't raise a hand to help you).  I have found that if I will ask most times someone is willing to help me and if not nothing lost by asking.

deAngel and Amy, one of the friends who visited us not long ago does buy old Singer Featherweight machine and I am going to write to him to ask if he has any and what he would charge for one and if reasonable I just surprise Pat with it as an early Christmas present.  I think she would enjoy having it so she could easily bring it downstairs if she wanted to rather than go up to her sewing room.

Lloyd, that must be a very wide rake to handle three mower swaths at a time.  I hope you don't get too hot.  Do you have an air conditioned cab on your tractor?
