Food For Thought
The Gossiper
(Author Unknown)

A woman repeated a bit of gossip about a neighbor. Within a few days the whole community knew the story. The person it concerned was deeply hurt and offended. Later the woman responsible for spreading the rumor learned that it was completely untrue. She was very sorry and went to a wise old man to find out what she could do to repair the damage.

"Go to the marketplace," he said, "and purchase a chicken, and have it killed. Then on your way home, pluck its feathers and drop them one by one along the road."

Although surprised by this advice, the woman did what she was told.

The next day the wise man said, "Now go and collect all those feathers you dropped yesterday and bring them back to me."

The woman followed the same road, but to her dismay, the wind had blown the feathers all away. After searching for hours, she returned with only three in her hand.

"You see," said the old man, "it's easy to drop them, but it's impossible to get them back. So it is with gossip. It doesn't take much to spread a rumor, but once you do, you can never completely undo the wrong."

Thought of the Day

Anyone can love the ideal church. The challenge is to love the real church.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm just marking my place for later.

Cindy is in the shower and I'm just waiting for her to come out so I can share her last few minutes before she leaves.  I'm sad!

Good morning everyone.
Another lovely day in the making here. Yesterday was a fun filled day with dil  and I stopping at a few yard sales and gleaning some treasures for both of us.Then later in the day we went to the quilts shop to see what they had left at 75% off and of course we both came home with some fabric.

Today we are having company this afternoon, so a tidy up and then down to sew for a bit.

Jane, good you had this time together.

Phyllis,beautiful graphic!!

Joan, thank you for the egg mcmuffin.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning, Janie.  I know how it feels to have family leave.  When they live far away you know you won't see them for quite some time.  It makes one feel sad, for sure.

Amy--Good morning.  You had a productive day yesterday between finding treasures at yard sales and getting fabric at 75% off.  Enjoy today's company.

Good morning everyone.Hope you all have a great day. I have mixed emotions about kin living close and some far apart.
the good ones like Jane apparently just had would be good close, others I would be happier if they never ever found there way back. I have been in business with family if ever have the desire to have another partnership with another than my wife, i will strike out down the road a foot and the first prison I meet that will talk partnership ( lay down the ground rules and stick to them. Friends are alright but best ones are not family members. do not want either to stay long enough to ware out there welcome.

Hi everyone.  We have a very nice morning starting out at 72 degrees. The high is suppose to be about 92 with another chance of heavy rain this afternoon. Yesterday afternoon we had a 30-40 minute deluge of rain with about 1 3/8th inches falling and then later another half inch fell.

Scott's phone died a couple of days ago and so Pat wanted to give him back the phone that our DIL had.  It is a smart phone and she really wasn't using it.  So last evening, before dark, we made a quick trip down to where he works and gave him the phone. We also got to spend a few minutes with him as they were not busy and he could take a break.  This afternoon, after we have lunch, we will go to the phone store if it is open and get her a new basic phone.

We will go to Sunday School and Church this morning.  I am once again bringing the Devotional reading to the class.  Our Church sponsors a youth camp each summer where the youth spend a week and do repair work for people who are not able to do it themselves nor can afford to have it done.  This is done in cooperation with the local United Fund that pays for the materials needed, such as shingles or bathroom fixtures.  The youth will be in the church service this morning.  There are several of these summer camps over the State.  The youth stay at the church during the night and have their breakfast and evening meals there.  Our fine minister has organized and directed several of these camps over the years.

JaneS, when we moved to this new house it has faus wood blinds that are nice looking.  Pat made the decision not to put up any curtains as just isn't up to taking care of the washing and ironing required.  It has taken a bit of getting used to as always had curtains before.  I hope Cathy finally got the rods that she likes and the resettling in the new home is going well.  I know you will miss having the girls all together.

Joan, I had a slip of mind and guess I thought when you said Linda and Ed I just thought of Findley and mixed them up.  That makes more sense as to why things had been stored in your garage as I remember them getting a new home.

Jenny, only one time did I try to drive from Atlanta to Maryville, Missouri in one day.  It was an 900 miles trip and I left about 4 am Eastern time and it was 8 pm Central time when I got the the hospital where my mother was having surgery the next day.  I remember being so tired that I actually had to hold my eyelids open during the last 100 miles or so of the trip.  I decided I would never try that again my myself.  I did not use good judgment.  Of course, I was probably 20 years younger than I am today.

Good morning, Lloyd.  All my family lives far, far away and when they are able to visit, they can't ever stay very long.

Larry--Good morning.  How nice that Pat gave that phone to Scott.  Those summer youth camps sure are a wonderful ministry.  I never have been one for long auto trips.  My rule is that if it takes more than three hours to drive where I want to go, I buy a plane ticket.

Good morning everyone, looks like another day for staying inside. Last summer was not as humid as this one is. Even in the evenings no one here is sitting out. That I miss.

JOAN  enjoy the brief visit with Linda and Ed. Don't worry about being here all the time. We aren't because we all have lives and so do you. As long as we know you are OK take a break.

LARRY  as soon as I hear thunder I shut off both the TV and the PC. Cannot afford to replace either. My ex insisted on keeping the TV on and it got zapped.

JOAN  glad Joe and family will be visiting in a few weeks. I sure would love to see a new photo of “our” little red head.  He must be quite a young man by now.

JANE  looks like you had a busy Saturday and not much time to just visit with Cindy and Courtney.

SHIRLEY  that cough does not sound good, hope you see your doctor Monday , if not how about the emergency room? Don't let it go any longer.

PHYLLIS  love your Picnic. Another one I would love to be there in.

JOAN  Chuckles sure would fit some men I have known. Glad I brought my sons up to pitch in and help, they still do.  Two grandson knows how, too. The Gossiper is so true. There is one woman here like that. I am always careful when I talk with her. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JANE  I know how you feel with Cindy leaving.

AMY  do you have enough material now to last a long time?

LLOYD  good morning.

JOAN  I used to like long dries as long as we stopped often to walk around. Now even an hour ride would get to me.

Good Morning Everyone from the
warm, but damp, rocky coast of Maine.

Living in a small apartment,  I find making
space to keep all  the litlle goodies that I need and
colllect, out of sight.    It is always a struggle for me
to stay organized,  but I have finally found a way
that works for me.

I bought a slew of these "baskets"  which come
in a "six pack"

that fit perfectly on my shelves

(https://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-01648501-4-Shelf-Shelving-Storage/dp/B010C5DMF2/ref=sr_1_7?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1468761445&sr=1-7&keywords=Sterilite+shelves)

which hold tons of little goodies  (stuff)
out of sight, but within easy reach !

After getting back from my trip around the
country,  I had to put together stuff to
live with,  and storage was a big consideration.

Well it has been a long time now ( over 5
years) since I went from living "lightly" to
being back to living "normally"   put me
back in the storage business.

I still like living smaller,  with a view.
The view makes up for the small space that
I have. ( and now share with my daughter,
a couple of days a week) ....

It never ceases to amaze me just how much
"stuff" I require (or think that I require) to
live "my normal" life style.   "My normal"  is
the key,  and not necessarily anyone elses
"normal"

Speaking of this,  I think today I will through and re arrange my storage places ...   (something to do while watching "The Open" from Royal Troon Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland ...

This week also begins the much dreaded
political conventions....  (I will say no more)..
Should be interesting to watch this political
craziness here in the USA ! (Or NOT)

Have a good day, Everyone!

We did have a busy Saturday but we all had breakfast together with a cousin that the girls haven't seen since they were little.  Then Cindy and Courtney took off to visit the other side (Cindy's Husband's family) and her own brother (Kiran's family) and Cathy and I worked on organizing the house.  Then Cindy had a gathering with her school friends and Courtney spent the night with her (other side) cousin.  So we all did what we did yesterday.

Larry, inside shutters went through my mind for Cathy but I hadn't thought of the wood look blinds.  They might be nice for her family room.  She could raise them for daylight and close them for privacy at night.

Better get started on my shortening job.  I won't get finished until after I get started!

Good morning, Gloria.  Here, as you know, we have humid weather for many months.  I'll try to get a picture to post when Joe, Kate and Finley come to visit.  Linda said she'll come, too, if there's room after they get Daisy loaded.:)

Sandy--Good morning.  You sure have the things that one needs to organize in a rather small place.  It seems that from the time I first knew you (via the web) you have always been an organizer.:)

Good morning, Callie.

Janie--Your visitors sure made the most of their time--seeing friends, etc.  Are you shortening those curtains by machine or by hand?

I am so grateful today that the many hours of thunder, lightening and heavy rain yesterday did NOT damage our house!!! But it sure flooded the basement!  Mohamed has been visiting his family in Giza (near the Pyramids) so is NOT available by phone until he returns to his new apartment.

The downpour and winds were INTENSE and tore down many branches in our yard from the surrounding trees.  A HUGE Oak tree across the street was entirely pulled out of the ground by the intense winds and toppled over against the house next to it.  Fortunately no injuries to the folks who live there.  A team from our City of Concord came out when the storm calmed down and within a couple of hours had cut the tree in pieces, pulled the branches out towards the street for clean-up by another City Team.  As I stood on our front porch after the rain stopped and watched the City fellows take the tree down, I was thanking our Lord minute-by-minute that no one was injured.

I called our next door neighbors on both sides and they were all OK, but another house farther down the street had lost all electricity.  Then I talked with a couple of friends from Church who lives several miles from house and they, too, were OK.

Another neighbor couple came to check on me (they're wonderful folks!) and the fellow picked up a huge tree limb which had broken off one of our trees located directly opposite our side porch.  I'd just said I would try to remove it today, but he replied "No, No, that's not your duty.  I'll do it."  Now I owe him a Hershey bar at least! :)

No news from Chaps this week, so surely hope he is OK and getting to know more about his Army post in Korea.

Hope all Friends have enjoyed the weekend!

Almost noon,  All across the country looks like Hot. So I will ask some of you folks if you remember how cold it was in Jan.  I know I was complaing then about the weather also.

It is  nice to have friends in high places.  One of my RH sisters came about  10 this morning to see about changing my bandage, which I was dreading.  As it started to bleed quite bad last night again.  She also vol. on the ambulance. She spent over a half hour, cleaning and rebandgeing  it. It takes a special person to do somthing like that for a friend.

Joan, thanks for the Mcmuffin.  When we use to go to Cape Cod, we would leave early.  We would stop off at Foxwood, Conn. for a little gambling, before heading for a late ferry in New London. to bring us back to Long Island. WE would stop for breakfast at McD's and have and egg McMuffin.  Enjoy your family.

Larry, that is wonder idea about the Youth Camp.  There are still so many wonderful young people.  You only read about the bad ones.

Phyllis, thanks for cooling graphic.

Hug, all around for my friends in here.

Molly--I saw on the National news about the extensive flooding in your area.  It's a blessing that nobody was injured.

Linedancer--Yes, it is HOT here.  But here in FL, it isn't very cold in Jan.  How nice that your friend came and changed your bandage.  I actually had an Egg, sausage, cheese McMuffin this morning.  My daughter went early and got them.

Good Morning, I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Sunday.

Janie, I know the empty feeling when our children say goodbye, so we are then thankful for the fun memories they left behind, and now you have extra curtains to work on and pour your thankfulness into that job.

Today is a quiet day at Rowntree, so I will be off to Chapel soon, then to lunch, then home to do letter writing ???????? I question that, as I still have mail to be written and sent out.

Entertainment last night was fun, a male singer that is a Grandpa, a former teacher, a marvelous voice and really enjoyed entertaining. It is extra enjoyable when the entertainer is having a good time, as well as giving one. On one song, He brought his mike over to me, and we sang the last of the song together…it was fun.

We have another beautiful day coming up…80 degrees for a pleasant high. Time to get ready for Church. See you all later. June

Because I tend to loose things,  it is
very important these days for me to
stay organized....

Unfortunately  (I may have told you,  already)
I lost my teeth,  when I was out to lunch
with my daughter.

I know, I know...   how is that possible?
Well,  I took them out and put them in
a tissue,   and apparently,   that is when they
disappeared.

I am contemplating replacing them,
but after doing some research,  I must
plan on close to $2000  to get some
new ones.     (If I decide to replace them -
Given the cost,  and the fact that I only
use them for appearance sake,  I don't know

Thank you Jane and Joan ..

Yes,  they are gone.   I called the restaurant
that we went to and they have no unclaimed
dentures.   (They did not laugh)

I then called my Renters Insurance  (Liberty
Mutual) and they have taken my claim
under advisement and will contact me
this week,  if in fact,  they cover my dentures.

Everyone has been very nice and no body
laughed...  very professional...

Thanks for  your advice about insurance.
Hopefully I will receive some compensation
so that I can go forth and get some new
dentures.

I know that it is odd that I haven't used
my dentures .... my mouth is curved in such
a way that dentures don't stay put ...  with
out adhesive...  I have chosen to
eat with out them ...   Not easy,  but very
doable.

I appreciate your advice Jane about insurance...
I hadn't contemplated that ... So I shall see this
week if they will help me.

Thanks again

Farrah is intent on having more treats and tells me if I'm a bit slow, and that is about all that's happening here. I did go out this morning with friends to visit with another friend and enjoyed some rosehip tea and cannoli while there. Now it's back home again.

JANE  your family visit sounds like when my daughter comes here. Everyone wants to see her so they take off most days. At times I go with them but others I stay home and cook. No sense in cleaning much because they had suitcases all over.  With 3 rooms there is not much space.

JOAN  I know Finley has grown since you last shared a photo of him. I still have the ones of him with the huge teddy bear.

MOLLY  we keep getting forecasts for thunderstorms in this area but they have hit all over the state but here. I am not complaining about that.

GLORIA de  on hot humid days I like putting a winter graphic on my desktop, hoping seeing it would make me feel cooler. Then I like winter and never liked summer. Glad you have a friend who knew how to change that bandage.

JUNE  glad you enjoyed last nights singer. It has been months since we had anything here. So many have dropped out of the association that the few they have left are the ones who do no work. Those who did the work got tired of being depended on all the time. I went to 1 meeting when I first moved here and found it boring so never went again but I am friendly with all of them so get to hear what is going on.

PATRICIA  now a cannoli I would have enjoyed.  There are times I really wish I could get to a good bakery. I would leave it with only a few pennies left.

JENNY  I know you will enjoy seeing Adele.

Goodness this SS is quiet today.

Gloria, we are lucky to have many small ethnic family businesses and groceries here as well as the farms and farmer's markets. This place is a little family run, Italian restaurant or more of a tiny diner or cafe. It has three tables, and there is a small counter with cash register next to a big display case where you can drool over their fresh daily offerings.

Gloria, Sunday is always a quiet day here. I have been catching up o emails, and checking out things I have saved on my external hard drive ad my folder of other pictures.....soooooo many of them, but it is not always pleasant to look back on life as it used to be. Some things make me smile, others make me sad. I should not save the sad, but they are still part of my life.

Time to think of having a light supper. I had such a huge lunch, I am not at all hungry, but we still have to feed the body to keep it operating, so I will retire to my kitchenette and see what I can come up with that will go down easily.

Patricia, I used to go to a little restaurant like that when we lived in Long Beach, Ca. Many, many years ago. It had three booths and a juke box on one side and a counter with maybe five or six stools and an open counter and door to the kitchen. Family run..a home away from home really. Thanks for the memories.

Sandy, beautiful family!  Thanks for sharing them.

I finished 3 and 15/16 of 8 curtain panels and my sewing machine died.  I don't know if it can be revived.  I don't think it's worth paying to have it repaired and I'm certainly not going to buy a new one at this stage.  I'm going to cut off and pin the rest of them tomorrow and then I'm going to call my cousin.  She works at WM too and once before, she stopped over and fiddled with my machine and got it working.  I'm going to ask her if she might be so inclined again.  If she can't, I'm going to ask her if she'd mind taking the curtains home and doing the sewing.  Or maybe i'll make a trip to my sister's next weekend and use her machine.  I have the one's for Cathy's bedroom done and they face the street so she's not in a hurry for the rest of them.

I think I'll be off to Dreamland early tonight since I've had a few late nights lately and no naps to compensate.  So I'll say...

Daphne, A very lovely little family. Mom and Daddy look so very happy with their dear little daughter.

Lloyd, enjoy your fresh peaches ! They sound delicious.

I settled on a half a peanut butter sandwich, some juice, and half a slice of Cheese cake. I am stuffed. Should go out for a walk before bedtime, but I just don't feel like it, so will get ready for bed instead and read my book till sleep arrives.

Have a good night dear friends. Keep well, wake happy. With Love, Hugs and Prayers for all who need them. June

Anyhow, I am off to bed now.  Nite all, God Bless and Sweetdreams.

Looks like I am always turning out the lights.... been a long day & am sore from coughing.  Thought I was under control so went to church & had to get up during the sermon & go out, had a coughing fit & couldn't stop.  I am sure I'm not contagious but had the feeling everyone probably thought I was.   :crazy2:

Sandy, beautiful family.... don't know why I thought your kids all had dark hair... not so, huh?

Gloria, I talked to Doris tonight, she & a gr-daughter are planning a trip to visit her son that "lives out west".  She is really excited so I am very happy for her.

Joan, my son sent me a photo of OUR little red head but I need to resize to post.  She started dance lessons, already taking gymnastics.... Will be 3 soon, a new brother due in November.  .... They keep them so busy they don't know what it is to just sit or lay in the grass & look at clouds.

Good night, Every Friend.... God Bless and hope all have sweet dreams.  Shirley

Shirley,  I can certainly sympathize with you about your coughing.  A couple months ago, I had a terrible cough and just coughed and coughed and coughed.  I was having trouble getting an appointment with the doctor because of her changing practices. Finally,  I did get to see her after a week of constant coughing.  I had a sinus infection.  I was just exhausted by that time.  I didn't feel like doing anything...........  and I mean anything.  It was all I could do just to go from the bed to the chair and just what I had to do.  After several days of antibiotics and cough medicine,  it began to get better.  The lady who lives in the apartment next to me, kept calling me to see if I needed anything.  She told me she had never heard anybody cough that much.  It took me several weeks to get my strength back.

So, please get yourself to the doctor and get some relief.  All that coughing just wears you out.

Jenny, enjoy your concert but.....I do hope Adele keeps it clean as her Glastonbury concert didnt go down too well especially that children were present, re, her fowl mouthed swearing.....

Quote from the Mirror...." Adele swore 33 times during 90 minute Glastonbury headline set after admitting BBC WARNED her about potty mouth....."

Wonder if she is getting too big for her boots....

Sandy, lovely happy and relaxed photo of your family members....
...................................

Talking of great grandchildren, I have a g-g-child, only I have no Idea as to its sex, nor name, the baby was supposedly born last year November,..... four months BEFORE we moved home this year March,.... so my daughter and grandson had every opportunity to have told me, if they wanted me to have known.......
If anybody is querying why I NEVER phoned them.....the last telephone recorded message I received from said daughter was calling me a selfish c***t for passing on my MS to her, my grandson and his then future newborn baby........so basically I have been ostracised ( if that is the correct term ) from the family, all because of my MS illness...

So I do really envy all who have good relationships with their children, grands and great grands..... Now if only I could sit down my grandson and tell him some home truths of when he was born, when he was young, but I doubt I ever would, wouldn't want to unsettle the apple cart..... I even doubt daughter has told grandson I was there at his birth...where the nurses gave him to me to hold after his birth rather than to his mother, who done nothing the midwife was telling her....plus the first thing daughter said of her baby was, hasn't he got an ugly, or was it large nose, not sure which now, seems so long ago....then daughter couldn't wait to get out of bed to go have a cigarette.....And yes she even abandoned him, left him in the hospital, she came home and left him for a few days before we got her to go back....again, I bet he never knew that..... No wonder he was raised up with " Foster Parents..."

Technology
While trying to explain to our six-year-old daughter how much technology had changed, my husband pointed to our brand-new personal computer and told her that when he was in college, a computer with the same amount of power would have been the size of a house.

Wide-eyed, our daughter asked, "How big was the mouse?"

Food For Thought

The Real Issue
(By Kevin Williams)

The reason that some civil servants perform street executions on citizens is the same reason that a disgruntled man with a rifle will shoot & kill law enforcement. This same reason is why a man would drive a van full of explosives to wipe out half of Oklahoma City Building in 1995, and why ISIS cuts off heads, and why an American shoe company exploits workers in Southeast Asia. This is the same reason why 3,288 babies are aborted daily in the U.S. and the same reason why our culture fights for the right to terminate our unborn.

This same reason is why people in Taiwan burn fake money to ancestors, and why a father abandons his child. This is why a husband would raise his hand against his wife, and why some people in Cape Town are addicted to "tick".

The root cause of evil is not mysterious. It's not "ThisColorLifeMatters" or "Guns Are Bad" or a lack of Education Reform.

The reason is a Gospel problem. The reason is #Jesus'LifeDoesn'tMatter.

People have rejected the relationship with the one true God, rejected the only true path which leads to Him, Jesus. It's no wonder why our world is in shambles. Broken people break things.

If you have a bush growing poison berries, the solution isn't to trim its edges. You must uproot the bush and destroy it, and plant an apple tree, which bares healthy fruit.

Jesus' Life Matters, and in fact, He is the only solution to solve the reason why our society swims in disarray.

Our old selves must die, and we must be born again, as new creations in Him, that our new hearts may continue to grow into His likeness, in restored relationship with our loving Father.

Anything short of this is just man made solutions which are doomed to failure. 4,000+ years of human history prove that our wisdom doesn't hold the answer.

Life and purpose do not revolve around us. It's all about Him.

The sooner we figure that out, the better off we are, for this present age and the life thereafter.

Thought of the Day

“He (the devil) always sends errors into the world in pairs-pairs of opposites...He relies on your extra dislike of one to draw you gradually into the opposite one. But do not let us be fooled. We have to keep our eyes on the goal and go straight through between both errors. We have no other concern than that with either of them."

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special Good Morning to you Joanie and thank you for all the effort you put into the goodies for us every morning.  It has to take a lot of time to do this.  I know I don't say "thank you" often enough but I hope you know that I'm always grateful.

This morning, I'm going to be cutting and pinning curtains and I'm also going to fiddle with the sewing machine and beg it to work.  I really want to do this little job for Cathy's new home.  And I'd like her to have the "finished" look in her bedrooms.

I'm off to feed the doggies.  They've been very patient but it's time.  Have a lovely day Everyfriend.

Good morning everyone.
They say we are to have a t storm this morning and rain. I don't mind the rain but not happy with the storm part.

Jane, have you re-threaded your machine, including taking the bobbin out and start all over again?Sometimes this works. Have you cleaned your machine? Get all the dust bunnies out of the bobbin area?

Dil will be going home today ,maybe after supper so we will have a day of sewing first :) I am also going to clean her sewing machine for her.

Sandy, great photo!!

Lloyd, have nights when sleep won't come.

Joan,thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Amy--Good morning.  I wish you could send some rain our way.  You still have this day with your DIL.  Enjoy your time together.

JUNE  this place was more active when I moved here 2 years ago.

JANE of all times for you machine to quit on you.

SHIRLEY  I emailed Doris last night.  I thought she had already gone to Utah to visit her son. Call you doctor and find out about that cough. Does not sound good.

JOAN  a mini muffin or 2 will be good this morning. Lone the daughter's question in chuckles. The Real Issue is too true. A friend and I were talking about the same thing yesterday. Thank you for all today's goodies.

Good Morning Everyone!

Shirley I hope this finds you feeling better.  Get yourself to the doctor, my wife had  a similar problem and ended up in the hospital.  I know your tummy is sore as can be.

Janie, I hope you found your problem on the sewing machine.  If it is completely dead check your power cord and see if it has any breaks in it and check your wall plug.  Also unplug your machine from the power and check your foot switch to see that everything is connected. It is so frustrating to have something just quit and sit there.

Gloria, this old world is just upside down and sadly so many people just couldn't care less, just coast along and accept things as they are.

Not much on tap here today, I may try getting an appointment with my primary care doctor.  My old back has got a hitch in it.  As the say a hitch in my git along.

Weather is teasing us, rain all around us and here we sit.....

Good Morning Everyone,
from the warm and a bit humid,  rocky
coast of Maine.   So far I have my windows
open and will enjoy that until it gets
uncomfortable,  when I will turn on my AC.

All my Grand kids, have beautiful dark hair....
After the baby was born,  Maddie decided that
she wanted to be a blond...  So she became one.

Personally,  I loved her dark hair.  As a
"stay at home Mom" now,
I think that she just needed a change.
She may or may not keep it blond..  That is
up to her.     I know that I also went very
blond for many years,  but I didn't have
the beautiful hair that my Grand Kids have.

Halkel, you dont mention the price you paid for it,....and more importantly, will we all fit on board? :dancingdog:
..................................
Went out in this hot sunshine for a couple of hours, didn't need to go far, just a five or ten minute drive out of our private parkhome road, turn right, uphill towards the clifftop, half way, then turn right again, after a longish and bumpy sandy road, the other side of our hills, we reach a private piece of beach, with walks, and an on site cafe for food, even have outside loos.....Of course my MS is playing havoc, the slope is far too deep for me even to consider going down to the beach, but I still managed to do a fare bit of walking....although I really struggled with balance, felt I was going to topple over when stopping to take photos, no seating nowhere, not until you get to the food kiosk and snorkel, beach sandal selling hut.....where we sat down for a coffee and tuna salad sandwich, R had bacon....It was good to get out for a couple of hours, I make conversation with people easy, so got talking to one man with his dog companion, that was quite funny watching his wire haired dog antics....The good thing about this place is, it welcomes dogs all year round, even allows dogs to be off lead........Link to photopeach clip.........

Good morning, halkel.  We're in the same situation as you are.  Rain all around us but nary a drop here.  I'm ready to hop on that boat for some R & R.

Good morning, angelface.  How true.!!

Sandy--Good morning.  I guess in the grand scheme of things, if Madison wanted to try being a blonde that's nothing so big.

Vanilla-Jackie--Glad you got out for a walk and some lunch.  It looks to be very popular with all the vehicles there.

Terrible storm here Saturday evening.  We had over 5 inches of rain in our gauge and more than that fell elsewhere in the area.  Lightening so close and thunder so loud and it just went on and on for a long time.  Flooding everywhere but not around our house so I'm grateful.  A medium size limb came down and hit the deck with a very loud noise....I jumped a foot.  A small leak in the basement but everywhere else has none that we could find.  We were luckier than some.  Several people had to be rescued, cars were covered, lightening set a couple of houses on fire not far from me.  This has not been a very good summer.  Hot, humid and these severe storms have been popping up nearly every day.  Sunny now but more thunderstorms expected later today.  Wish I could share with those who need it.

I broke a tooth so it is off to the dentist tomorrow.  I'm expecting that he will want to put a crown on, if there is enough tooth left for him to do that.  Too much excitement lately.....I'm ready for a little "dull" in my life.

Hal, that is quite a yacht and would furnish quite a ride.

Jackie, your beach area looks so inviting.  I agree it must be popular because of the number of vehicles.  You're looking good, sitting there at the table.

Phyllis, I knew there were storms in your area, but not to the extent you mentioned.

I think I am improving every day.

Good Morning all, I just finished a bowl of rice krispies with sliced banana and I am stuffed. No room for the second cup of coffee.

Tisie, that cough is NOT going to heal itself, so get yourself off to the doctor and get some help, you are not doing your body any favors by just coughing all the time.

Lloyd, I'm sorry you are having a bad night. We really need our nights sleep so we can do what we have to do the following day. I hope you finally got some good rest.

Hal, my bags are packed, I'm ready to board that luxury ship. It's a good life, for sure. Hope The doctor can relieve that hitch in your git-along. (haven't heard that expression since I was kid.

Jackie, thanks for the photos, I really enjoyed the trip.

Phyllis, I'm glad you are safe and sound. That storm sounds really vicious. Hope the falling branch didn't damage you deck.

Hi everyone.  Another hot day here. I did not have the opportunity to get to this discussion this morning as I was super busy. It was an interesting morning.  I had to have some routine blood work done for an appointment I have on Friday so went to the Hospital Lab at little after 7 am.  As I was standing in line to check in I glanced around and there sat our son, Scott.  He was as shocked to see me and I was to see him.  When we finished at the lab we stopped at the place I have coffee on Thursdays and had a nice omelet breakfast.  It was quality time totally unplanned. I brought half of my omelet home for Pat's breakfast.

Then we went to the AT&T store so Pat could get a new phone.  She did not want another smart phone and they were out of stock of the one she wanted but the salesperson said that Walmart had them.  Walmart is in the same shopping complex where the phone store is.  He told of which phone to get and said to bring it back and he would get her contacts transferred.  However, they were out of the phone also but they called the store 5 or miles North and they had them.  So we went to that store, bought the phone and then went back to the AT$T store and got the phone registered and in service.  I took Pat home and then I went to my normal Monday noon meeting. Needless to say I was really tired when I got home and laid down to rest.

I have read all of the posts since yesterday but it is late so will just sign off for today.

Good Monday afternoon to EVERYFRIEND.

Still savoring my fun night at the Adele Concert.  Thankfully JACKIE, she seemed to be on her best behavior, only cursing once and appologized immediately.  She needed to have the BBC get after her....no need for that foul language.

We have a lot of thunder and lightening going at the moment, but so far nary a drop of rain.  Ten minutes south of us it is raining cats and dogs and the temperature is 30* less.  C r A z Y weather.

SHIRLEY, I am concerned, as others are, that you need to go see your doctor!  The cough sounds much more than it should be.  I think you mentioned that you would go if it was not better today.  Keep us posted and take care.

JOAN, it would be nice if Linda could come with Finlay and family, but it might be a bit too crowded with them and  Daisey Dog. My Mark heads to Florida next week for his PGA stuff and he is sure not looking forward to the heat and humidity.  But it is what it is, so there is no way around it.  I do wish you could get, some rain to cool things off a bit.

LARRY, what a nice surprise to see Scott at the vampire place. Always so nice to spend quality time together.  Glad Pat was able to get the phone she wanted even though you had to drive around some to get it.

I must get going....enjoy the rest of your day.

Christy (Maryland daughter) and Frankie (her Florida daughter) came here today for a visit.  Christy has gone to visit her brother and then a quick stop to see Cathy's new home and a short visit with them.  She will take off for Maryland after that.  Frankie is staying a few days and will overnight with her Uncle Phil at Kiran's house so they can have a visit.  Tomorrow she has a ride to her father's (40 minutes away) and will spend some time with him.  Then back to Maryland for a return flight to Florida.  She's a busy gal.  Short visit but quality!

I'm going to go scrounge up some supper, feed the doggies and check to see if the LIMO is out there.  I have my suitcase packed.

halkel--That sounds perfect.

Larry--What a coincidence that you and Scott ended up in the lab at the same time.  That's was quite a hassle getting Pat the phone she wanted.

Vanilla-Jackie--We've had hot and humid for week.

Jenny--Joe, Kate and Finlay have a BIG SUV so she thinks she and Daisy will fit.

Janie-Nice that your family has the opportunity to visit one another.  My suitcase is packed, too.

LARRY - I had to smile when I read your comments RE unexpectedly meeting your son and then sharing a meal with him.  That type of get-together is truly special!  It made me think of how I felt when my son (currently stationed in Korea) called a couple of nights ago.  I did not recognize the telephone number that appeared on the phone screen, but decided to answer anyway.  When I heard "Hi Mom!  I love you,"  I really smiled.  He has become accustomed to the time difference at his current Post (about 10 p.m. our time in N.C., but almost Noon the next day where he is serving for 2 years.  Really good conversation!  We agreed that he would try to call regularly at about the same time so when I saw the unfamiliar number on the phone screen, I would know it was him.

I really had to smile about phone calls at unusual times as Mohamed usually calls from Egypt (to which he returned on July 7th) around 10 a.m. our time and
evening his time in Egypt.  We have totally different
schedules and he usually talks about the international News, which he has already viewed by the time he calls me.

After experiencing intense wand, rain and downed trees along our street two days ago, today brought my yard crew and  they worked almost two hours to
clean up the yard, mow, clean the gutters on the roof, and trim our hedges.  I gave them a nice tip and a large container of cold bottled water.  That always makes them smile!

I'm going to be watching the evening news in a few minutes to catch up with what's going on in France (not very good recently) and what our Presidential candidates are up to.

Hope all had a good weekend!

JOAN  on TV late this afternoon they were saying storms headed this way. Had a few rain drops on the windows and that was all. I think I have appreciated your morning posts right after I joined your Nest. Since then I can understand all the time you spend looking for what you post.

HAL  hope Shirley listened to you and the others who told her to get to the doctor. Right now this town is up in arms. The governor wants a gas plant in this town and no one wants the added pollution to our air. It would not be far from my grandson's house. We have been the forgotten part of the state for years but 20 years ago they did build a huge gas generation plant without even letting the residents know what was going on. Hope you get to wee your doctor. Pack trouble is now fun. Wow imagine going on a cruise in that. Just pray for calm seas.

JACKIE  beautiful area. Been too many years since I walked near the ocean, loved it.

PHYLLIS  this state has had some bad storms recently with winds, hail, flooding and limbs and trees down. The weather guessers this northwest part of the state will get hit with it but so far so good. I don't mind the rains and some wind but there has been lightening strikes in the state, too, and  that is what scares me. They keep saying with this heat and humidity we are ripe for a bad storm.

MARY ANN  I hope you are improving every day.

JANE  I had a few rain drops hit my windows, didn't even get the walks all wet.

HAL  what time will the limo be here? Don't want to miss it. Will we have to dress formal for our cruise? I would rather be comfortable. Wish we still had Agnes or Martex here. Either one would have all of us on that ultra luxury yacht. I know Shirley would know who I am talking about. They took those who posted in the Missouri forum on several trips. Angelface did one once and now that she is back in PSP again maybe she can use her wonderful imagination to do it. Bunnie would have tried it, too. Those were fun times.

HAL  the Great Lakes would be nice, almost as good as the ocean minus the salt spray.

LARRY  looks like you had  really busy morning but the best was seeing Scott there and spending some time with him.

JENNY  glad you enjoyed Adele. Why is it that some people think they have to use foul language. I remember years ago I used to like Buddy Hackett. Went to my brother's for the week end. My SIL turned on the TV to a cable channel and buddy Hackett was on. He had a filthy mouth and after that I could not stand him anymore. He was insulting people in the audience and some got up and left with him calling out nasty remarks to them.

JANE  looks like you have seen a lot of your family members lately. Always great seeing them. Mu suitcase is packed and ready, too. A mystery cruise? Who know where we will go?

MOLLY  great that your son called. That made you happy. Bet the yard crew appreciated the cold water most on a hat day.

LLOYD  I envy you those canned peaches come a freezing winter day.

Good night everyone.

Which Agnes are you referring to?
I used to know Agnes from New Hampshire on Senior Net.

Thanks for the sympathy, Joy, mine also started out as a sinus infection, had antibiotic just a few weeks ago & should have gone back right away instead of letting it build up.  Didn't have the cough at that time, thought  sinus problems would just go away, basically head aches & I never have head aches.

I called my Dr before 9:00 am & got in at 10:20 this morning.  They really are good to me.  Had a chest X-ray & prescription for antibiotic, one I can tolerate & said "to be good for pneumonia", should that be the case.  I could hear a young kid in the next room coughing just like me.

Jackie, so sorry the way your family has treated you.  I do push my kids to keep in mind the various health issues that we know of in my side as well as their father's.  Lots of heart problems on my side and colon cancer a bad gene on their father's.  My husband's mother & 3 of her brothers died from that disease, so he got checked often, but that is not what killed him.  We just never know.

Lloyd, our nights are not cooling down so doesn't help to get up, no cool air to enjoy, that's my biggest complaint about this summer.  I love an open door with fresh air.   We have a fence around the back yard and another fence around the house (back) to enclose the pool so feel safe with a sliding door open.... and Ruger under the pillow!   I know, I'm bad~~

I think I've lost my "slide" down the posts with the phone call from the doctor's office.... Lungs are clear!  "That's a good thing!"

Hal, I do have a cure for that back ... got it from a doctor whose father was an orthopedic doc.  When he gave me a paper showing how to lean against a door facing, back snugged up against the wall, pull tummy in, shoulders back, clip thumbs together behind the back (near the waist), up on toes, heels against the facing... hold that position as long as can & go down & up again.  Do this a few times a day & it actually works.  Seems those tummy muscles are pulling the spine out of alignment as we let them sag....   I know I must have rolled my eyes when I looked the exercise over cause I was thinking.... "how dumb"... But it works, it really does.  I had back problems for years before that & was skinny so didn't dream I had a muscle problem.  A few pounds later & it still works!

By the way, Hal, I'll take my yacht with wheels under.... I don't like water, admit to being afraid of water.   I will join everyone at ports ...to party.

Good advice about the sewing machine, Jane, hope you find a simple cure.  I did get a new machine cause I'm going to live to 120 and never-ever bought a pair of slacks that didn't need to be shortened.  So far the old one is working but got such a bargain with Amazon's "Gold deals" that I couldn't resist.  Hate to admit I am having trouble learning how to operate it.

My old Singer was an estate sale bargain from about 30 years ago and even older Brother that won't sew through anything thicker than 2 layers of cotton...  the Singer made covers for my husband's lawn tractor seats, the leaf catcher, that thick expanded vinyl.... had to take it to the shop for adjustment after that & cost $25, same as I paid for the machine.  It has served me well for all the heavy duty needs.   The Brother has built in cams that let me put the right  length on my husband's slacks.  He always had them altered where he bought them but they refused to make the one leg less than half an inch shorter than the other & my husband wanted them perfect.   One cam allowed a stitch every few stitches that caught the leg while the other stitches ran along the inside fold & didn't show.  No way to describe it but was as professional as possible when done.  Those days are over but not for my needs.   I buy long slacks to cut off the length I want for "shorts"... but am pleased with all the ones this year, mid calf & cool fabrics.

Mary Ann, I've gone back & back but never found your post about what happened to you.  Glad you are better and hope back to your old self soon.

Larry, I would love to go back to my old phone like Pat, but would lose too much with Tracfone.  You do lead a busy life, special time when meeting like that, isn't it?

This has gone on all day & much too long.  Debating whether to delete most of it....  but want to thank all of you for the advice to see the doctor.  Job taken care of.  Time to take care of cats and think about getting some sleep.

Yep, Gloria, I got there & not as sick as I felt....so I'll quit whining for a while ... you think?  I still have some of those trips we made in MO.... Don't remember how I downloaded them but ran across the videos on a thumb drive or something not long ago.  Wild imaginations & talent.

Well, the problem of the sewing machine is temporarily solved.  When Christy texted to say she's coming up, I asked her if she could bring her sewing machine along and let me borrow it for a week to finish the curtains.  She did and I can.  So now it's sitting all ready to finish the curtains tomorrow after work.  And it can go back when Frankie does.  Mine will sit and wait until I decide if I'm going to get it fixed.  I called and got an estimate on it and it's not as bad as I thought it might be.

And now, I'm off to Dreamland.  Good Night Everyfriend!  I wish you a peaceful, restful sleep and may you wake to sunshine or rain whichever you want.  God Bless us, every one!

Shirley, thank you,  :) I didnt think Everyfriends would read it, let alone respond to it.....Yes a sad situation, but, whats to be, will be....just needed to get that off my chest.....

Wow Shirley your GPs dont waste time in ordering you to have a chest X-Ray....that sure wouldn't happen over here, well not on our N.H.S waiting list....first the GP sends out a referral, then maybe if you are lucky a month, could be longer you get your hospital appointment....oh of course by then you could be dead..... ::)

Gloria, although yesterday I was so close to the sea, unfortunately not close enough as, their is a very steep slope to walk down, yes their is a banister, but only part way, but it still is very very steep, I wouldn't even attempt to give it a go....and I think that is the only way to get down to the sand......

I have made a pledge for our Benji before we lose him ( doesn't look like yet, we shall see next week on his monthly vet monitoring ) but dogs and myself have never walked on sand, well I have but not for years.....so I made a pledge to get Benji on sand, not quite the way I was originally planning as now he cant be let off lead nor run to catch a tennis ball, not since his mimicking of stroke....

Mary Ann, honestly I do smile, but R takes so long in pressing down that shutter, that by the time he has taken the photo," I have lost Interest..."  :2funny:

Jenny, glad your Adele concert ran smooth and she toned herself down....

CHUCKLES

The Pearly Gates

A minister dies and is waiting in line at the Pearly Gates. Ahead of him is a guy who's dressed in sunglasses, a loud shirt, leather jacket, and jeans.

Saint Peter addresses this guy: "Who are you, so that I may know whether or not to admit you to the Kingdom of Heaven?"

The guy replies: "I'm Joe Cohen, taxi driver, of Noo Yawk City."

St. Peter consults his list. He smiles and says to the taxi driver, "Take this silken robe and golden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

The taxi driver goes into Heaven with his robe and staff, and it's the minister's turn. He stands erect and booms out, "I am Joseph Snow, pastor of my church for the last forty-three years."

St. Peter consults his list. He says to the minister, "Take this cotton robe and wooden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

"Just a minute," says the minister. "That man was a taxi driver, and he gets a silken robe and golden staff. How can this be?"

"Up here, we work by results," says Saint Peter. "While you preached, people slept; while he drove, people prayed."

Can you imagine a person graduating cum laude from college with a teaching certificate but being turned down from a teaching job 24 times? That’s what happened to Brad Cohen, a man with Tourette syndrome, a neurological disorder resulting in involuntary repetitive movements and barking sounds. He was eventually hired at the 25th school where administrators looked beyond the disability and saw Brad’s gifts as a teacher. Brad eventually became a very successful teacher and a motivational speaker. His autobiography became a bestseller and was made into a heartwarming movie called Front of the Class.
Jesus paid special attention to people who were overlooked. Jesus noticed short Zacchaeus up in the sycamore-fig tree and reached out to him. On another occasion, though his disciples rebuked a blind man who had called out to Jesus, the Lord called him out and restored his sight (Mark 10:46-52). At another time, Jesus also healed a woman who had been bleeding, and he made sure her faith was recognized (Matthew 9:20-22).
Christian love demands that we see beyond the superficial, that we make special accommodations for people who need them, and that we value the contributions of everyone. Jesus put it quite simply: “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39).
Lord Jesus, teach us to see all people as you see themâ€"fellow creatures worthy to be redeemed and transformed through your gift of life for us. In your name, Amen.

Good morning Jackie-Vanilla.  It's already hot and humid here (83° at my house) and is going to be in the mid 90s.  Glad you liked the "Thought for today".

Amy--Good morning.  You sure have a good time when your DIL is visiting.  You're "on the road again" today, but at least it's not to go to the doctor.

Good morning, Janie.  You're having ideal weather.  Hopefully all in your line today at WM will be wearing a big smile.

Hi everyone.  The day is starting out with bright and sunny skies.  We will likely see in the mid 90's this afternoon.  We just escaped a severe thunderstorm late yesterday afternoon at was just North of us.  It does look like there was a little rain during the night but no storm.

Nothing on the schedule for today, which is welcome after the busy day yesterday.  The crew has just arrived to lay the cement block on the foundation for the new home across the street.  The cement mixer just arrived and there are five or six men over there to do the job.

I did get the results of the blood tests I had yesterday and my PSA count was up less than 1/2 point and my cholesterol is well under control.  So I was pleased with the results.

Molly, I am sure you were happy to get your yard tended to after the big storm.  Now you can look forward to a morning call and an evening call.

Lloyd, you will enjoy all of those peaches in the months ahead.  Glad you had something to keep you in out of the heat.  It sounds like it will be another good day for you to stay in and be a couch jockey.

Gloria, years ago when our son was in high school Robin Williams came to the Starlight theater in Swope Park in Kansas City for a performance.  I got tickets and we went but have to say it was such a blue performance that I was very uncomfortable sitting there with my son.  It was a same he didn't just be funny but it seems the performers seem to think that using blue material is necessary.

Shirley, I sure hope you are feeling better with the antibiotic.  I was with the others in being concerned about you.  Certainly glad you didn't have pneumonia.  My wife would love to have a Singer Featherweight sewing machine but honestly don't know where she would put it.

Good morning everyone, had one of those nights that I finally went to sleep about the time Joan would be posting here.

PATRICIA  Agnes and I still keep in touch but have nod heard from Martex in years.

SANDY  yes that is Agnes from NH. She is the one who did the caricatures in the photos.

SHIRLEY  glad you saw your doctor. Did you get scolded for not calling earlier when the coughing did not let up? I copied you help for sore back. I will try that, I am so tired of my back hurting all the time. Every orthopedic doctor I saw said nothing they could do because of my age. First one told me that 6 years ago. I have asked a couple of them if I fell and broke a hip if they would shoot me like they would a horse. Never got an answer to that one. I know about shortening slacks, I have that problem, too. Some capries are as long a slacks on me. I had saved those “trips” but lost them. We did have a lot of fun there didn't we? I love your posts and never find them too long.

JANE  great you can now get those curtains hemmed.

JACKIE  I would never be able to walk down a steep path anymore. So many things I can no longer do makes me feel like I am a lazy old woman. I was always on the move till my back started acting up. Like you I have not walked on beach sand in years and I so loved being at the ocean.

JOAN  an omelet will hit the spot this morning. Was just thinking I better have breakfast before it is time for lunch. Pearly Gates shows the job and how one does it makes a difference.  Looking Beyond  wish those in charge would look beyond my grandson's handicap and hire him for the job he is qualified for. Cerebral Palsy had limited his body movements but his mind is very sharp. Graduated from Johnson & Wales culinary school at the top of his class in business administration.  He works at a McDonalds. Great quote. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  glad you had a good time with your DIL. I would have loved the ice cream you enjoyed. Safe travels today.

JANE  last night I finally shut off the AC and opened the bedroom window with the fan on bringing the cooler air in. The sky is a clear blue and that lets me know the humidity is down at last.

LLOYD  with that heat I would do nothing either.

LARRY  you got fast result for yesterday's vampire visit.  Glad it was good news.

HAL  at least your back yard can get a drink today.

Shirley, in hindsight maybe my timing wasn't great, what with the newborn coming along but....if I hadn't have told daughter, believe you me, that wouldn't have gone down with her well either...If she found out I had kept it from her.....I told her for her own benefit....how many times has a GP asked that question, is, or, has there been, anyone in your family that has had that, or have died from that?

As for me being given up by birth mother, I had no records of her medical history....

Good Morning dear hearts, have caught up on all the news of the day..here on Srs. that is. I still don't know what is going on in the world. I didn't get up till 8 a.m. so skipped my exercises today. Just feeling a bit rebellious today...or maybe that is laziness. Anyhow, I am enjoying a break in routine.

I plan to go down at 10a.m to the coffee klatch. One of my favorite residents is giving a talk, and I know it will be of interest. At 2:45 we have the balance and mobility class, and then tonight at 6:30 a favorite entertainer, Jennifer Hart will play and sing for us. So I will have to look alive today.I'm not hungry, but must eat some breakfast..a small carton of peach yogurt should keep me going till lunch time.

Hope you all have a busy, fun day.

Gloria your comment about those steep paths reminded me of my last trip to Israel. There was a recently discovered "city of David" excavated in old Jerusalem that I wanted so badly to see,  but the hill was so steep it would have been impossible for me climb it, so I had to pass up the new adventure.

I'd probably be able to go down the hill to almost anywhere but they'd need to call in a crane to get me back up the hill.  I don't do "up" very well at all.  If they had stairs and a railing, I'd be fine but not a steep hill.

I'm going to go work on the curtains until the sofa hollers at me.  I'm really tired and I'd like to walk past the curtains and straight to the sofa but I won't!

Have a good day Everyfriend!

Good afternoon, almost time for my soap, Gen. Hospital. I have watched it for 50 years.  Just got home from shopping, had to go on my own, as Diana had to take her hubby to the doctor to day. Good and bad experinces. I was at the vegie counter and a black lady walked over to me and said you are cute.  I was so suprised only thing I said was "Thank You", then there was no packer to day at the checkout counter, so I helped the clerk baging, a nice man came out of line, put my bags in the shopping cart.  Got out to the car, the pick up shopping cart man, stood and waited for me to put my bags in the car.  I could not believe that, I do not think he spoke english.  I would have tipped him if he had t helped.  Got home and my neighbor came over and brought them in. I got home safte, so I look at it as a good day.

Larry, I just gave my feather weight singer to my DIL. I never had any trouble with it, and my husband took  care of it.  Dennis was 5months old  when I bought it on time.  He would now be 69

Gloria, all afternoon yesterday the weatherman kept warning about heavy rain thunder etc.  This is the 2nd time this has happen. Look to the west and the sky kept getting brighter, looked across to Conn, and look like they were getting our weather.

Phone rang, R took call, our next door neighbour man...asking if we could either close our windows ( our hottest day of the year, temps been in the mid 80s to 90s, or to turn our tv down as he can hear it, said he is in the garden...R politely obliged....I can see we are going to have trouble with him....His lady partner recently told me the reason she chose to come into my home rather than invite me into theirs was that on the outside he seems sociable, but he isn't a sociable person....Both myself and R have never had any problems with neighbours, I think we need to be aware of him, re, our arguments and noisy barking Toby.....This has left us both in disbelief, its certainly not something I nor R would do to a neighbour, let alone a new neighbour....R is in the garden peeling vegetables, if neighbour was aware, he could have called out to him, not gone indoors to phone us......Oh well, maybe this has opened up our eyes...will keep us on our toes...

Angelface--Farrah seems to think she's the "queen" now.:)  Some bad weather up there.  Thanks for the link.  I will listen when I am done here.

Radioman--I couldn't climb a hill, but I could come down if the distance wasn't too great.

Janie--Good luck finishing those curtains so you can answer the couch's call.

Linedancer--I'd say that generally your trip to the grocery was a good one.

Vanilla-Jackie--I wouldn't care to have that man for a neighbor.  If he doesn't want to hear any noise at all he should move out where there are no other homes.

Joan, we have both sat out in the garden today, ( not together. ) R been out longer than me doing his Sudoku..... I am sure next door neighbour has been around in his garden as I heard another mans voice once or twice...and I know at times our tv has been left on as it often is when I come into the computer room...some of our windows have been open all day...He phoned around 7.30 - 8pm, it just doesn't make any sense....our tv was no louder than usual....apparently he could hear our news channel...Anyway I shall now be aware of him, or should that be, wary of him.....

I'm probably the only one who thinks this way, but I wonder if there is another location for Jackie's TV.  Regardless of how sociable or unsociable the man is, he should not have to listen to your TV.  I would not want to sit on my deck and have to listen to my neighbor's TV and I live in a 4-unit building so we are closer together than individual homes.  Remember - his rights end where yours begin - and vice versa.

This has been a very good day for me. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a plain old good day. I'm thankful.

Will have supper at home (half of what I had for lunch) then down for the final program of music and song. Had a fun time at our balance and mobility, and it has sure grown in number from when I first moved here.

Good day for me too, June.  Lots of smiles at work, and I finished all the curtains that I have for Cathy's new house today.  I only have two panels to go and I couldn't take them because they are in the bathroom.  She'll use two from the bedroom while I do the bathroom ones.

Now I'm going to go watch JAG and then go to bed so I'll say....

Good Night Everyfriend!

Joan, oh yes I shall be ignoring this man, not that I see much of him anyway but, it has always been plesant over the fence type of chat.....Our main problem now could be that being a Parkhome with manager on site and rules to follow, anyone could put in a complaint, then verbal, then written warnings, etc, etc...Now I just feel he could well be one who would not hesitate to do this.....anyway I am now on my guard...

Mary Ann, its not the turning down of our TV that's got my back up, although windows have been open before and our tv sound has not altered nor is it loud, but the fact on our hottest day of the year touching the 90s,.....this crazy man told us to either turn down our tv of which we have obliged or to CLOSE our windows, that speaks for itself that he is crazy....

Hm maybe it was our tv " news " that he was objecting to, as that was what he told R he could hear....maybe he found it depressing...Oh and our tv is in the same spot our previous tenants had theirs....where the aerial connection point is...

Where neighbours are concerned my motto is, a little " toleration " goes a long long way in keeping good neighbour harmony...

Commputer Games

Finally, after years of testing business software, I landed my dream job -- trying out computer games. My first day at work I was listing various ideas in a spreadsheet program when my manager walked by. He looked at my screen for a moment, then said sternly, "I'd better not catch you using spreadsheets on company time when you know you should be playing games."

Food For Thought

Fields Ready for the Harvest
(Author Unknown)

We had a visiting brother speaking in our assembly today. One of the passages that he touched on was John 4:35, "...Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest."

This speaker commented that we hear a lot about a perishing earth these days, and very little about a perishing world. How true! People everywhere are talking about the danger that the earth is in from the threats of climate change, pollution, global warming, etc. But how little we, as Christians, hear about the danger that the world full of souls is in from the threat of perishing in their sins. Could it be that we are more interested in the fate of the earth than we are in the destiny of the world?

It was this matter of a lost and dying world that was the Lord's concern in John 4. He spoke of the world as being full of vast fields of people awaiting the gospel message, but who would reap this great harvest?

The speaker noted how the entire city of Nineveh was saved from judgment and brought to repentance through the words of one very reluctant witness, Jonah. And, if God can do this with a reluctant witness, what could he do with me, as a willing witness fully devoted to him?

We are constantly investing in our homes, our cars, our pensions, etc; but how much are we investing in eternity? I suppose most people's first question is: How does one invest in eternity?

The speaker noted 3 ways that we can invest in eternity:

Invest in unbelievers. The harvest is certainly ready.

Invest in your local church. The church is Christ's body.

Invest in your marriage and in your family. The family is God's design for society. He values it and we should value it as well and invest time into both our families and marriages.

Where are you investing your life today?

Good Wednesday morning Joan.....

Another hot day but not going to be as hot as yesterday, yesterdays weather was unbearable....we in UK are just not use to it....

Our local hair-dresser is due any minute to cut Rs hair....she does as many as 6 or 7 clients on our parkhome site, think normally she comes every 6 weeks.....this will be Rs first time using her....She is such a nice young girl, a girl I would proudly like to be my daughter....She does horse-riding not too far from where we are, loves dogs and is a real nice, pleasant, friendly, very attractive in both looks, and personality, girl...

I took my breakfast outside in the garden, in this fresh morning heat, made a real pleasure but, there were a couple of farm machines in the field to our back, I could hear a couple of guys having a real  old natter and a good laughing session, makes one feel we are really out in the country of which we are, but the sea is only a short distance away, we have the best of both worlds....I feel so blessed to be living here....

Joan, re, " thought of the day..." reminds me of that hymn...." One Day at a Time Sweet Jesus...." Link.....

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Joanie and Junee, I also like Lincoln's observation of the future.

I'll be off to meet my public at Wally World again today.  And Cathy will stop this afternoon after work and pick up her finished curtains and drop off the white ones for me to do.  Then that is one job we will both have finished by this weekend.

I hope you all have a pleasant day today.

Good morning, Junee.  I am glad you like it.

Vanilla-Jackie--Good morning.    How nice that the hairdresser comes to your home.  I've never heard of one here that does that.  You sure do have the best of both worlds.  Once in a while, when it's not too hot, I take my coffee out on my screened in porch and do enjoy that.

Good morning, Janie.  I know you and Cathy will be happy to have the curtains done.  Hopefully everyone at WM will be wearing a big smile today.

Nothing to eat or drink for me this morning.  I have to go to the vampire for fasting bloodwork.

Good morning everyone. Oh last night was nice and cool and just right for sleeping.  Was a perfect night for sitting out on the porch and there were a few of us who enjoyed it. Not like when I first moved here when the porch would be crowded on most all evenings. Today will be a nice day for sitting out as long as it is in the shade. By the week end the humidity and temperature will be up again.

PATRICIA  my grandson set me up on Facebook when he set up this PC. All I wanted was to see the pictures they posted on my little great grandson.  Right off the bat I had so many who wanted to be my friend. A friend of a friend, etc. I don't have time for that. Seldom check it anymore. I had lost my contacts when they worked on this lemon of a PC. And slowly am getting some back.

DON  seems we have a chance to see something wonderful as we age  but are in no condition to enjoy it. At least you have been to Israel and seen some very historic places .

JANE  now stairs would not work for me anymore. Going to my grandson's home is getting to be more than I can handle. Might have to forego his son's first birthday party.

GLORIA de  the weather guessers sure have been wrong at least 90% of the time lately.

JACKIE  my computer is between the TV and the AC. To hear the TV when the AC is running I have to turn the volume up and I was worried the lady under me would start complaining. I saw her yesterday and asked if she could hear it. She said no and asked if I could hear hers.  No was my answer.

JANE  glad those curtains are done for now. Like all good mothers, we do everything we can for our children, no matter the age. Wish I could get Jag.

JOAN  would enjoy the biscuits minus the gravy.  Thank you for today's goodies.

JUNEE  we do only live one day at a time. All we do have is now.

LLOYD  be careful out in that sun and heat.

AMY  glad yesterday went good.

Hi everyone.  Another clear day is underway on this Wednesday.  The cement block layers at hard at work already this morning, but now have finished, after a long day out in the sun yesterday. The next phase of the project will begin can now proceed which involves getting ready to and then pouring the cement floor.

Late yesterday afternoon we went down to Pizza Hut and I had the Tuesday night buffet and Pat had their chicken wings, which she really liked.  We came home and watched an hour or so of the convention and then decided we had heard enough speeches for one day.

Pat has an appointment to get her hair cut this morning and I have nothing on the schedule.  This being Wednesday we look forward to some time with Scott probably this evening.  I don't know whether Pat will want to eat at home this evening or go out for a good late lunch with Scott.  However, I am guessing it will be to stay home and eat this evening.

Yesterday I found a customer service number to call about my failed garden hose.  I spoke with a very pleasant man and he sent me the requirements for replacing the hose under the warranty.  This involved cutting off both ends of the hose and taking a picture of it showing the fitting so they could prove it was their hose.  Secondly I needed to submit a picture of the hose failure, which I took several days ago.  Lastly they asked for proof of purchase, which I had in my Amazon order archive and just copied it.  I submitted they these photos along with a brief description of the problem.  Within thirty minutes I heard back from the man that he was putting in the order to send me a new hose.  The hardest part was cutting off the ends of the hose but I accomplished it.  So that problem should be solved.

Gloria, I am like you and several others here that just don't do well on inclines as soon am totally out of breath.  It is a shame that those with a visable handicap are not allowed to do those jobs that require a brain over brawn.  With the tools now available such as special keyboards, etc, many people are now able to do things like anyone else and it should open more doors.  The University Hospital has its own lab so we get fast results.  This was the same way with Kaiser as most results are available that evening of the blood draw.

Jackie, you did what you felt was the right thing to do.  We are not responsible for others may take what we say as that is totally out of our control.  Many of us have a predisposition for various medical conditions such as a family history of heart problems or cancer.  These family members certainly didn't will these things upon themselves.  It sounds like your neighbor is one who is not tolerate of others and will likely not be a very good neighbor.  Life isn't all about him.  You are certainly trying to be a good neighbor in turning down the volume.  However, some people are hard of hearing and need to have the volume up.  Perhaps he should close his window.

Joan, the quote from Abraham Lincoln was right on the mark.  There is no way I would want to know what joys or sorrows tomorrow may hold for me.  It is all right to plan but I no longer set expectations as find my life is much more enjoyable to deal with things as they arise.  I hope you enjoyed your breakfast out this morning.

deAngel, you certainly have been a faithful watcher of the soap opera.  Your grocery shopping experience was both good (the man in line helping) and not so good (the grocery cart man who wouldn't raise a hand to help you).  I have found that if I will ask most times someone is willing to help me and if not nothing lost by asking.

deAngel and Amy, one of the friends who visited us not long ago does buy old Singer Featherweight machine and I am going to write to him to ask if he has any and what he would charge for one and if reasonable I just surprise Pat with it as an early Christmas present.  I think she would enjoy having it so she could easily bring it downstairs if she wanted to rather than go up to her sewing room.

Lloyd, that must be a very wide rake to handle three mower swaths at a time.  I hope you don't get too hot.  Do you have an air conditioned cab on your tractor?

Larry--Good morning.  I watched a bit of the convention last night, but then switched to something else.  I'd say you got good service replacing that hose.  I had a good breakfast out with a couple friends.

Good Morning Everyone!

I have been lazy this morning.  Was up early but just piddle around doing a whole lot of nothing except looking at paper, drinking coffee and eating some toast.

Larry I hope that works out on the sewing machine.  As a husband I know how hard it can be to figure out what to buy or get for special occasions. Sometimes we just agree not to buy either of us anything or buy something we both want. After 63 years not much that we need or want.  She has the checkbook and gets pretty much what she wants, when she wants.  And me, special to me is just being around the kids and observing.  Sometimes I have to think about how I was half of what caused it all.  ;)  And must say: "I do good work".
But got to give the Good Lord the credit. It was his gift to me, my family.

Joanie hope your blood work comes out perfect.  It is just such a pain, not literally, but having to go through the exercise.

Janie, bet you let out a big sigh of relief to get the job done on the curtains.  Knowing you I am surprised you didn't wash/starch/iron them afterwards...... :o

Got to go brush my teeth and wash my face.  Everyone have a great day.

Good Morning dear cyber friends and family, Twill be a bit warmer in Stanton today, 93 for a high.

My body is up, but my mind still seems to be sleeping. Whatever will be will be, and what we can't change we accept and make the best of what we have to work with, right ??

Junee, I too agree with Mr. Lincoln. If we knew what our tomorrows were to contain, we would go hide in a cave, or waste today waiting for tomorrow to arrive. As the song says, "One day at a time Sweet Jesus".

Jackie, that's the song alright. I sing it every morning. I prefer a different version though, this on is little too jazzy for my taste. I prefer a male voice, more on the deep, soft side.

Today will be Bible study a 10a.m. our Chaplain will lead it this week. at1;30 we will discuss current topics, At 2;30 we will be served root beer or coca cola floats, and at 3:00 we will have a Guess Who game, and that is fun too. I intend to attend all of them, with lunch time around noon. We are not obligated to participate in any or all of them..up to us. As long as the body is willing I will do as listed.d It the body says,"enough !" I will obey.

Hal, I feel as you do about family. They are number one on my list of things I hold dear. Also like you, I love to have them around and watch them interact, and just sit back and enjoy for a while, then I have had enough and need to have my quiet time.

Good afternoon, suppose to stay in the mid 70's.  I have to enjoy it, as the next 4 days is going to be very hot.  Like the rest of the country.

Joan, I will enjoy the biscuits and gravy.  About every two weeks I fix them.  I cheat I buy Libbys sausage &  gravy, I only find it at KMart. I get results right away when I go to the hematologist.  Once a month, last time I did not need a shot, as my blood out was 12.  I go again the end of the month.
I also have a lady, that lives in the park, to cut my hair.

Amy, glad your trip went well.

Gloria, we use to have a lady that lived across the street, who played a TV all the time loud.  I could hear it with the storm windows down, but no one complained, as she was very deaf.
I also have a hearing problems, but I use TVears. to listen to my TV.

Jackie, We have to have 4 complaints, before management will do anything. We do have one lady in the park who complains about everything. Out of the 580 homes in here, you just say her name, and they know who you are talking about. The police are use to her calls.

Not politics as we know it.....( humorous....)  ;D

Politics - How it Works!

I told my son, "I want you to marry a girl of my choice."

He said, No!"

I told him, "It's Bill Gates' daughter!!"

He said, "OKAY!"

Got in touch with Bill Gates and told him, "I want your

daughter to marry my son!"

He said, "No!"

I told him My son is the CEO of the World Bank!

He said, "OKAY!"

Went to the President of the World Bank and told him

to make my son the CEO of the Bank.

He said, "No!"

Told him my son was Bill Gates' Son-in-Law!

He said, "OKAY!"

And that, is exactly how Politics works.

Good afternoon, EVERYFRIEND.

I have been rather lazy this morning....got my grocery ads done...make a list and hardly ever go by it, but it does keep me updated if there is something that I want or need.

Yesterday afternoon we were just ready to get out of here and took off for Black Hawk.  Enjoyed the ride and a nice lunch....enjoyed a bit of the one arm bandits for awhile, then they started taking ALL of my money...like they always do.

JACKIE, my first thought was just plain anger when I read about the neighbors call to you about turning the sound down.  I personally think he is a crotchety old man and you should just ignor him.  I do understand he can turn you in and that could cause problems for you.  How sad that you have to have someone that is not very nice for your neighbor.

JANIE, congrats to you for getting that curtain himming job done...you are one very good mama.

JOAN, I do hope your blood work all comes back I with a good report....I am behind on getting mine done...shame on me...time is just passing way too quickly!

You all enjoy the rest of your day.

Good Morning from the Interior. Cloudy this morning, black clouds and wind about with 80% of rain. The storm surge passed through town late afternoon and all the rivers are full to their banks. Thank goodness, for the dam system put in after the 1967 floods.

We are due to have rain until this Sunday and then partly cloudy/partly sunny. Since August is almost always rainy, I think we've seen the last of anything above the mid-seventies.   :'(

If it holds true to the past, which is doubtful with three summers of rain, August will be cloudy with rain and September, cooler, crisp and sunny with the start of fall.

Farrah was surprised and unhappy this morning when I awoke, showered and ground my coffee beans. She kept running to the yoga mat, calling "WIN" and then to her dishes on the kitchen mat, saying "WIN-Win" so piteously. But she is stuck with dry until the end of the month and I am not going to rush out and buy her another lb container of treats until the end of the month. Right now she is back under her bed probably sulking at having only dry to eat!

Unfortunately, we humans do not come equipped with delete buttons for our mouths.

My friend and his rock band were playing a concert at the local psychiatric hospital where he worked as a musical therapist.

The audience was a little too quiet for his taste, so the guitarist decided to do something about it. He grabbed the microphone, pointed to the group and yelled, "Are you ready to get a little crazy?"

Food For Thought

Stuffed With Junk
Ron Hutchcraft)

The other day one of our team members shared a discovery she made during the remodeling of her kitchen. The counter top had been removed, and as she looked into this little 6"x8" drawer by the sink, she saw that it was completely stuffed - with "stuff"! She realized that for 24 years she had been sticking things into that drawer - twist ties, rubber bands ... you know, everything. There were some useful things in the back, but there were inaccessible because of all the "stuff." Now, it had been a long time since the drawer had been opened very much - our friend just crammed things into it and occasionally pulled it open an inch or two to use something out of it. But looking down on it all from above, she was surprised to see what was in there. Almost everything in that drawer could be thrown away - but it was accumulating for years. And that drawer was much more useful now that it was emptied out.

I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Stuffed With Junk."

You've got to wonder what God sees when He looks down on the contents of our life. The "top" is always off as far as His view of us is concerned. He sees directly into our heart, our motives, our every thought. And all too often, our life and our heart are cluttered with "stuff" ... things we've filled our life with that are simply unnecessary to Him, useless to Him - actually limiting our usefulness to Him.

Some of us won't realize how useless a lot of our life has been until it's too late to do anything about it - we'll wait until the Judgment Seat of Christ. Paul talks about it in 1 Corinthians 3, beginning with verse 11, our word for today from the Word of God. He says, "No one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones (that's filling your life with things that will last, that have eternal significance), wood, hay, or straw (things that are just "stuff"), his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light ... the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames." You get one life. You can fill it with things that really matter or with things that really don't. With things that will last forever or things that will be gone in a moment. And often what this world stresses as being important is really just "stuff" - and what Jesus says is important, our world thinks isn't much.

So when the Lord looks down inside your life, is it crammed with a lot of "stuff" that just doesn't mean much? A lot of time in front of a television, hours on the Internet, listening to music, talking on the phone, following sports, pouring yourself into causes and diversions that won't matter much in eternity at all? It's not that these things are necessarily bad. The problem is when "stuff" that should be peripheral becomes central in your life. That's when it's time to reevaluate your priorities. It's time to see your life through God's eyes, and clean out what's not useful - the trivial pursuits.

When you do, you become so much more useful to your Lord. And the more you fall in love with Him, the less you'll be stuffing your hours, your days, your mind and your heart with "stuff." You'll be about what Jesus is about. You'll be "seeking first the Kingdom of God." (Matthew 6:33)

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Joanie, I'm not sure that I like thinking that most of my life is "useless".  However, I do understand the kitchen "junk drawer".  I think everyone has one of those.

We've been having good sleeping weather the last few nights.  This morning it's still only 64 out there.  Of course the high is predicted to be 91 but not until about 3 this afternoon.  This morning will stay in the 70s.  Very unusual temps for this time of year.

I took the finished curtains over to Cathy's new house yesterday and I thought all that was left to do was the white ones for the bathroom but she found another set of the beige ones so I still have a total of 4 panels to finish.  I'm going to start them when I come home from work today and hopefully finish them tomorrow when I'm off work.

I hope Everyfriend has a lovely day today.  Stay cool!

Last evening I was talking to a friend that said a lot of wells in her area are going dry, everyone is gingerly using their water in hopes of rain to bring them back up. Water is so precious!!

Larry, that would be such a special gift for your wife!!

Jane, have a great day at work.

Gloria, I just listened to a loon flying over..love the sound!

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Thursday morning Everyfriends....

Well our temps are down but R said it was pretty hot out there when out walking the dogs, he says there's not so much breeze as yesterday...

I haven't been outside the front for three days, I am now waiting in for my Goldhill organics delivery....

Got my MS Consultants written report this morning, its only taken three weeks to arrive... ::)

As usual the recommendations of a choice of two antidepressants,.... antidepressant for neuropathic pain, well that might help....of which I have looked up both...and both say do not take if you have any bleeding problems....hellooo, I have a year long urinary bladder bleed...

Even that Consultant got wrong, called it rectal bleeds.... I have now had to send an email to MS Specialist Nurse so she can pass on to him to get this rectified on his notes...

The medication choices are a trial of Venlafaxine or Duloxetine at a low dose would be safer, it states....Hm pop a pill and all my problems will just disappear into nowhere...how neat is life...it has an answer for everything...If only...

Joan, hm bacon, I am here...

Good morning, Janie.  Your night time temps are great--your daytime not much different than ours.  You certainly have shortened lots of curtains for your daughter.

Amy--Good morning.  That's a big temperature deviation for the day--from 50° to the 90s.  If we had those temps I'd have to turn the furnace on in the morning and later switch to a/c.  We are VERY dry here, too.  Even with the sprinkler system the grass is looking a bit brown.

Good morning Vanilla-Jackie.  It seems the written report you received had errors.  Who actually prescribes the meds you need?  I knew the smell of bacon would bring you running. :)

Good Morning Everyone!
Trying to get organized so I can get myself to men's bible study and breakfast.
We are having our study at a different church this morning, think they are working on ours.  This church has a coffee shop so guess I will order breakfast there.  Even has a gift shop in it.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Hi everyone on an overcast but warm Thursday morning here in South Carolina.  The outside work of watering the plants is done for today and the trash is at the street along with the bush trimming from the two bushes we have in our back yard.

Today will be my normal Thursday schedule with coffee and the Wisdom class this morning and then a quiet afternoon and evening.

We had an enjoyable evening with Scott and Pat made a delicious dinner including a great dish of mac and cheese.  We gave most of the left over to Scott and he really liked it.  He enjoys his mother's cooking but he is also a good cook.  He moved my outside weather sensor to the front porch so hope to get a more accurate reading.  He also trimmed the other bush that needed trimming.  I did the other one last week but decided it was just too much for me anymore.

Hal, I heard back from my friend regarding the Featherweight sewing machine and he wasn't certain what they might have and needs to check with his wife.  This week she is on a church mission trip to Honduras. I agree with you that it is relationships and not things that bring the true joy (and sometimes sadness) into our lives and enriches us.

Jackie, I liked your explanation of how politics works.

Good morning everyone, been taking advantage of the good weather the last couple of days spending most of my time outside. Today will be more of the same but tomorrow will be hot and humid again. Saturday will be worse so I will pass on going to my great grandson's birthday party. I don't do crowded places anymore and with both families there will be a crowd. Too hot to have it outside. Tomorrow going into the 90's. Back to the AC again.

JOAN  great breakfast this morning, will enjoy it. Thank you for today's goodies.

AMY  don't think I ever heard a loon.

halkel--Good morning.  Nice that you can order breakfast when you go to Bible Study.

Vanilla-Jackie--Thanks for the explanation.  Your previous conversation made me giggle again. :)

Good morning, Larry.  How nice it is that Scott comes and enjoys and meal with you and Pat--and then gets to take the leftovers home.

Gloria--Good morning.  Take advantage of the mild weather and enjoy the outdoors while you can.

Good morning, Sandy.  I listened.  If I had to listen to that loon very long, I'd go "looney". :)

A cousin lived on South Woman's Lake in Minnesota and I visited her a couple of times.  There were loons on the lake and it was comforting to sit on her porch and listen to the loons in the evening.

It's getting dark here so I think we're in store for some rain, maybe even a storm.

Jackie. I just checked on the UK Weather report this morning. Can't believe that part of UK. Most all are having 91 Deg.  I can't remember ever having temps that high. I am picturing so many Homes, Autos and places that do not have Central A/C.  I laughed at my family when they had it installed in their house few years ago.  Don't think they used it often. Bet they have it going right now.  Can still buy auto over there without A/C.

Mary Ann--I wish it'd get dark and storm here.  The local news at noon said the "Space Coast" hadn't had rain in 21 days.  Central and Western FL are getting all the rain.

JeanneP--I sure remember growing up in central NY when nobody had a/c.  Weather patterns have changed and now almost everyone has a/c.

I'm home from work and I'm exhausted, I have a headache and my ankles hurt.   My feet are ok but my ankles feel like someones been banging on my head and squeezed me down in my ankles.  Maybe that's why my head aches.  I'm going to go take a nap and if I don't wake up until supper time, that's OK.

I like the loons too.  I find it very soothing to listen to them in the evening.

Jeanne P, we had three days of heat, the day before yesterday was our hottest with temps reaching 29 to 33 c....( 84 to 91 F) thankfully we are now back to normal, even took a down-slope walk in a fine drizzle of rain an hour or two ago,..... so refreshing, no jacket, far too warm for that......Jeanne because we dont often get such hot weather we dont have ceiling fans because it really isn't worth it, but oh how I wish we had, our hottest day was unbearable two days ago, had to keep all windows and doors open, blinds down to keep out the sun...... but not if our next door neighbour had had his way, he would have had us closing our windows....Even our poor dogs struggled to find any shade, they were panting like crazy....

Some years back we were in England in the summer and they had hot days as they are having now.  My BIL had just had new windows put in and the only ones that would open were upstairs and some small windows downstairs.  His back garden faced the West so no shade and no breeze in the house.  Holy smokes even this old Texas boy was looking for shade and air.

Janie, hope your nap refreshes.

Joanie, like you I have fans in every room except formal living room, kitchen and baths and they are all running most of the year.  And we have a box fan in the breakfast area that runs most of the time.

Funny thing, I remember back in the 50's when I was stationed in England talking to an old gentleman who told me that summers could get hot and how they sometimes had water shortages, so it is nothing new.

Amy, I am surprised that some of your area having water problems.  When I lived in Canada (for four years) never experienced any water shortage, of course I was in Ottawa, not in the country on a water well.

I have Ceiling Fans in Every Room also. I don't like A/C and use the fans all the time. At the moment though the a/C has to be on.
Now I also remember back in the 60s not having a/c in the house.  We had it built in the 50s and never thought of putting it in. Don't think anyone did back then.  We did put a Sun room as we called it on the back. It was all windows that could be opened and if to hot at night that room was comfy to sleep in with a big fan.
I think people could stand both the Heat and the Cold years ago. More than they can now.

Good afternoon everyone!

Same as yesterday here as I don't want to head out into wet rainy weather. First, it was staying home please when they washed the walls and public rooms of the five floors in this building. Then it became  stay in or stay out between 9 am until 7 pm while they laid carpet and moved every bit of furniture from the public rooms into the hallways blocking the laundry rooms on each floor. And through it all, the skies remain black and gray, and the rain continues to fall.

They have left, that painting and carpet laying crew, leaving behind their garbage, a larger plant tipped over in the hallway and hallway furniture shoved into inconvenient places. I do not think they will be invited back as the company and the tenants have not been pleased. They are off to others of the seven buildings and hopefully will be more scrutinized.

Farrah continues under the bed without treats and my books, and the computer is no longer helping. I never thought I would wish for fall as I am most definitely not a fan of cooler weather! However, September should be crisp even if cool and snow no longer expected after Halloween.

Not that I'm complaining....Oh no, not me!    ::)

I have been in and out of our S.S. but really had nothing of interest to say, so didn't say it. There was a phone call from my Gary, just checking up on me, and later an answer to my email about an appt. with the eye doctor, which we will put off till next month, as we both have other appts. to keep this month, on the days that he would have free.

Janie, I am concerned about your sore throat. Do take care, a sore throat can signal serious problems if not attended to properly.

One of my African violet transplanted leaves has had babies. two little green leaves popped out from the leaf stem and are doing very nicely.

Off I go to lay me down and read some more. I like being lazy for a change.

CHUCKLES

Home School Lauren

Although we had educated our two oldest children in public schools, we decided to home school our youngest, Lauren. When Lauren asked when she would start school, I told her it would be at least another year. At that time Mommy would be her teacher.

With a worried look, Lauren cried out, "No, no, you can't do that! Who'll be my Mommy then?"

Food For Thought

I've Learned What I Can Do!"
(Author Unknown)

Roger Crawford had everything he needed to play tennis - except two hands and a leg.

When Roger's parents saw their son for the first time, they saw a baby with a thumb-like projection extended directly out of his right forearm and a thumb and one finger stuck out of his left forearm. He had no palms. The baby's arms and legs were shortened, and he had only three toes on his shrunken right foot and a withered left leg, which would later be amputated.

The doctor said Roger suffered from ectrodactylism, a rare birth defect affecting only one out of 90,000 children born in the United States. The doctor said Roger would probably never walk or care for himself. Fortunately Roger's parents didn't believe the doctor.

"My parents always taught me that I was only as handicapped as I wanted to be," said Roger. "They never allowed me to feel sorry for myself or take advantage of people because of my handicap. Once I got into trouble because my school papers were continually late," explained Roger who had to hold his pencil with both "hands" to write slowly. "I asked Dad to write a note to my teachers, asking for a two-day extension on my assignments. Instead Dad made me start writing my papers two days early!"

Roger's father always encouraged him to get involved in sports, teaching Roger to catch and throw a volleyball, and play backyard football after school. At age 12, Roger managed to win a spot on the school football team.

Before every game, Roger would visualize his dream of scoring a touchdown. Then one day he got his chance. The ball landed in his arms and off he ran as fast as he could on his artificial leg toward the goal line, his coach and teammates cheering wildly. But at the ten-yard line, a guy from the other team caught up with Roger, grabbing his left ankle. Roger tried to pull his artificial leg free, but instead it ended up being pulled off.

"I was still standing up," recalls Roger. "I didn't know what else to do, so I started hopping towards the goal line. The referee ran over and threw his hands into the air. Touchdown! You know, even better than the six-points was the look on the face of the other kid who was holding my artificial leg."

Roger's love of sports grew and so did his self-confidence. But not every obstacle gave way to Roger's determination. Eating in the lunchroom with the other kids watching him fumble with his food proved very painful to Roger, as did his repeated failure in typing class. "I learned a very good lesson from typing class," said Roger. "You can't do everything - it's better to concentrate on what you can do."

One thing Roger could do was swing a tennis racket. Unfortunately, when he swung it hard, his weak grip usually launched it into space. Roger stumbled upon an odd-looking tennis racket in a sports shop and accidentally wedged his finger between its double-barred handle when he picked it up. The snug fit made it possible for Roger to swing, serve and volley like an able-bodied player. He practiced every day and was soon playing - and losing - matches.

But Roger persisted. He practiced and practiced and played and played. Surgery on the two fingers of his left hand enabled Roger to grip his special racket better, greatly improving his game. Although he had no role models to guide him, Roger became obsessed with tennis and in time he started to win.

Roger went on to play college tennis, finishing his tennis career with 22 wins and 11 losses. He later became the first physically handicapped tennis player to be certified as a teaching professional by the United States Professional Tennis Association. Roger now tours the country, speaking to groups about what it takes to be a winner, no matter who you are.

"The only difference between you and me is that you can see my handicap, but I can't see yours. We all have them. When people ask me how I've been able to overcome my physical handicaps, I tell them that I haven't overcome anything. I've simply learned what I can't do - such as play the piano or eat with chopsticks - but more importantly, I've learned what I can do. Then I do what I can with all my heart and soul."

Follow up Note from Chris: You know, while a nice "feel good" story, there's some deep lessons in here for us as Christians. We are each given gifts by the Lord: we excel in certain things, and not so well in others. The Lord gives us gifts that we might use them to further His Kingdom here - to bring others in and minister to those already in. As a Christian, we are to be constantly growing. But sometimes we get discouraged thinking things like: "I don't know how to be used by the Lord" and "What can I do for the Lord?" and "I don't have a pastoral gifting or a worship leader gifting - so what can I do?" And sometimes we get so hung up on these things that we neglect the things that the Lord HAS gifted us with. No, he doesn't gift us all to be a pastor, but he does gift in a LOT of other ways. There are certain things that I do well, and therefore I should do them with all my heart and soul, and not worry so much about the rest. And there are certain things that you do well (whether you think you do or not!) and you should do them with all your heart and soul and not worry about the rest. And ultimately, whatever we do, whether it is fixing a computer, painting someone's house, encouraging someone, administrating, or being a pastor or worship leader, it should ALL be done to give God the glory (one way or the other) because He is the one who has given us these gifts and we are to use them to serve God!  This is a vital realization.

Another sleepless night in Wichita..... not the cats fault, just frustration for being pushed into a corner by something I chose to do.  I've done everything I can to get the manufacturer of this RV to admit and take responsibility for their product, this is the last day before I turn all documents over to the "http://www.nhtsa.gov/Vehicle+Safety/Recalls+&+Defects".

I don't expect to hear from the factory rep today, but in order to use this vehicle, it has to be fixed.  I must order from Ford the metal valve stems that should have been on the 3 tires that can't easily be seen, may have to buy another inside dual tire that hasn't been checked yet (valve stem slipped out of bracket to check), and pay the install price for this job.

It is a safety problem, I've been lucky not to have a wreck when these tires went flat. At least the tire people said I drove the last one flat when they replaced it.  My son was with me, neither of us noticed any unusual vibration or motion when driving.  Scary to think about, my poor Guardian Angel has been working overtime!

Janie, beware, my sinus infection ended with that sore throat.  I did get the antibiotic then, even though I didn't have fever, my doc felt it was time.  But this cough started a week or so after and has gone on for weeks now.  I take my last pill today (second round) still coughing or trying to clear my throat... I rattle.  Take care.

Sorry to start the day off whining. I will do a head adjustment and come back with a smile. Hugs to all, sympathy to all (including Kansas) suffering with the heat

Patricia, wish you lived closer, I'd share the cat treats a neighbor brought yesterday.  A whole bag of food, treats and "dental treats".  My cats turned their noses up at the treats but did eat one of the cans of Fancy Feast.  She has a little rescue dog she walks every day (it has such a cute personality), explained she had to have her old cat put to sleep yesterday.  It had lost half it's normal weight, 16 years old and vet said it was beyond help.  We often visit when I am out as she makes her rounds, a delightful person.  My area is 2 streets between the river and a main "cross town" street, so we have our own little world.

Off to have a cup of coffee and some toast, then back to bed for another try at sleeping.  Can you believe it is another Friday and week end?

There you are, Joan!  Good readings (always), thanks.  I have mixed feelings about home schooling, not the parents teaching, but wonder if the kids get enough social life to let them adjust to the wide world of college and jobs. I'm glad I don't have those decisions to make any more.

Good morning everyone.

We had a light rain last evening  with hopes of more to come today! At the moment it is hot and humid a good day for the a/c to be on. Ceiling fan is doing a good job but it doesn't take the humidity out like the a/c.
Just happy I can stay home and not have to travel in this heat!

Shirley, you have been the most patient person I know dealing with all the mishaps of that RV and it is about time they fixed or give you a new one!! Ask them how would they like their Mom striking off in a piece of junk like that??? You bought it on good faith now it is their turn to show good business ethics.

Jane hope your feeling better, maybe a trip to the Dr is in order to boot that out of your system. You don't want to be sick all summer long.

Joan, thank you for breakfast

Enjoy your day everyone.

Thank you, Joanie.  I am feeling a tad better this morning.  I slept most of last evening and then went to bed and slept some more.  I've been taking a holistic remedy that I was given another time for a similar ailment and my throat isn't sore any more.  However, like Shirley, I have a cough, clear the throat type thing that's hanging on.  The last time at the dr. she said my lungs are clear and that it's probably an allergy.  She gave me something for the allergy and it cleared up a bit but when the pills were all gone, the cough came back. I still have a bit of a headache and a runny nose.  But I feel at least 50 percent better.

We had another cool night here (down in the low 60s with temps predicted into the 90s later today and also rain late afternoon and evening.

I hope you all have a wonderful easy day today.

Good morning, Joan.  Thank you for the cinnabons this morning.   They taste so good along with my coffee.

Shirley,  I hope that you will get some good results after you file the papers with the Safety Administration.  You sure have had a long haul with the "lemon".

Jane and Shirley, do hope that you both are feeling a lot better this morning.  I had that cough several weeks ago, and I can tell you that it really wears you down.  Took me a while to get my strength back.  Just makes you feel so exhausted.

It is a pretty sunny morning outside my window.  Supposed to be very hot again for the next few week or so.  I feel bad for the people who have to work out in it.  I do prefer the hot weather to the cold, snowy winters, tho.  But, I don't have to be out in it if I don't want to.  It does cool down a little bit  to be able to sit out in the evenings.

Hope everyone will have a good week end.

Good morning everyone, another evening spent outside last night. Have to take advantage of the few days when it was comfortable to sit out.

SANDY  thank you for the link. Now I know I never heard a loon. I will finish watching/ listening later. Right now have news on. Like to see what had happened overnight around here. I really don't think I could listen to that sound too long at once.

JOAN  thank goodness those loony days are over.

JANE  hope you are not getting a cold. You have been so busy with family and everything you do you might just need a few days to rest.

JOAN  a Cinnabon is just what I need for some “git up and go” this morning. I already have my AC on. For today and the week end we have a threat of bad thunderstorms. Already the sky is hazy so the humidity is high already. Cute Chuckles. Food for Thought is a wonderful story My grandson has a Tshirt that has Handicap is a State of Mind. My son and DIL never treated him different than their own son.

SHIRLEY  terrible that you have never got that RV company would not admit  your RV was a lemon.

AMY  I shut off my AC when I got up this morning but will be turning it on again soon before it starts getting how in here.

JANE  I had the AC on all night. I did enjoy a couple of nights without it and the window open with a fan in the window. That does not work with the humid weather though. Have a day of rest and hopefully you will feel better.

JOY  I still prefer winter over summer.

Hi everyone on another bright and sunny morning.  I see that 94 is our predicted high today with little or no chance of rain.  We did have a nice, if brief, rain shower early yesterday evening.

We did not have our Wisdom class yesterday as the minister was busy working with the young people in repairing the three homes that are being tackled this week.  The word did not get out but only a few of us were there.  I was able to get to Aldi's for some groceries and home much earlier than expected.  The main activity for today is a visit to my primary doctor late this morning.  I did get more test results and the only concerning thing is my platelet count is 64 points below what the low normal should be.  I will be interested in what the doctor thinks about this.  I will eat a big lunch at Shane's Bar-B-Q and bring home something for Pat supper.  I did this when I had the test done last week.

Joan, we have a similar situation to you with ceiling fans and they are all most a necessity here in South Carolina (along with the A/C).

JaneS, sorry you are getting sick.  I agree summer colds are the pits.  Glad you are feeling a bit better today without the soar throat.

Shirley, my best friends daughter has home schooled all four of her children.  They have home schooling associations for the arts and sports and have other things to provide the socialization for the children.  Have you checked with the Kansas Secretary of State's Office?  I know several states have a unit that deals with consumer issues.

Janie--That's a good plan for you.

Good morning, Joy.  Like you, I prefer summer to the cold and snow.  I had enough of that all those years living in Central NY.  However, I must say this summer here in FL, the heat has been atrocious.

Gloria--Good morning.  Enjoy those evenings when it's cool enough to sit out.

Good morning, Larry.  I'll be interested to hear what your doctor has to say about your low platelet count.

Lloyd--Good morning.  Yikes about the bee.  Good thing you aren't allergic to them.  My husband was and when he got stung he swelled up like a monster, and I had to take him to the ER.

Good morning from a still wet and soggy Interior with nothing new to report!

Joan and others take my rain....please!  :D

I have to say as someone who spent considerable time interviewing, hiring and attempting to train new and sometimes re-train older employees, that being homeschooled was a giant red flag on an employment application.

I worked in middle management in many states and cities as well as here during my times of work and a homeschooled person usually had issues. They might know their Bible or the wilderness, backward and forwards, but they couldn't spell, often had math difficulties and didn't work well with others and were hard to integrate among other staff.

They had a hard time taking direction and an even more difficult time admitting and or believing they could be wrong. As I said, often a huge red flag on an application. Now, of course, not every homeschooled person had these issues, but a significant amount had troubles enough to hinder their staying employed.

When it is often critical that both you and your spouse work, simply to feed and maintain your family and home, it doesn't make sense not to make an effort in your job.

Unless your "job" is scouting out the best public benefits for you and your family.

Janie, I'm glad you are feeling better, and even gladder that you are taking the day off. We have to give in now and then and baby ourselves in order to properly heal. I had my day off yesterday but feel the need for more rest, so I will take another day. I'm thankful I can do this, no little children needing care, no little animals that need food and exercise, so I can act my age and just enjoy the freedom to do so.

My house keeper was here earlier, changed my bed linen and bath linens, and will return to clean the bathroom. She gave me a nice big hug on her arrival, that warms the heart and soul.

Tisie, I am SO happy you are taking the necessary steps on all the problems and expense you have gone through with that lemon of a motor home. Not only are you are helping yourself, but also others that may buy from this company. You have certainly gone the long mile in patience and tolerance with this company, but enough is enough, right ?

I'm facing another hot, sunny day and the a.c. is busily pumping out cool air. And feeling the need right now, to go lay down and read for a bit. See you all later.

Shirley.  You say you are having a cup of Coffee and toast and then back to bed to sleep.
Will coffee let you do that?

For the price you paid for that new Motor home and the troubles you have had with it.. Don't know how you have lasted so long not taken them to court.

Well I just got back from going the the Farm and Fleet store. Decided would shop early before 9:30am and glad I did as it is above 90 deg already.  I am in for the day. They say with the Humidity high will feel about 104.
They are saying that not seen such hot weather so early in the year or even in August. Lasting so long.  We do get a storm during the night it seems to be every other night. Was a good one last night but just makes the the temps higher.

Darn people on my phone. Had three already this morning. One about Credit cards, another from India wanting to fix a Windows problem. And yes, I won a trip to Bermuda. Aren't I a lucky one.  With all that has come out in the Technical field over the past 25 years looks like should be a way to stop this calling but there isn't they say. Will get as bad on our Mobile phones soon.
Think it is time to make lunch. Not eating as much but not loosing a lb. weight. Think it is all the water I drink.  Not getting my 4 mile a day walks in either.

Just to give you a quick heads up...

My daughter called yesterday to tell me about an IRS scam.  Someone calls to tell you that there is a problem with you last return and they leave a message to call them back if you don't answer.  She knows I don't answer calls when I don't recognize the callers name or if there isn't a name.  But she wanted to make sure I didn't call them back.  I told her "My momma didn't raise no dummies."  Just for the record...the IRS doesn't call you on the phone.  They only contact you by mail.

Interestingly enough, I received that call this morning.  And they did leave a message which I immediately deleted.

Now I'm gonna check out the couch, too.

Jane, I also do not pick up the phone if I do not recognize the number or name.  My friends know , that, so they will say Gloria pick up  the phone, and say their name.  Well to day got a call, and the man said my name twice, so I did answer.  He was collecting money for Vets.

Lindance,I do give to the Vets and the Sally Ann too.they were there for the vets when they needed them.

Jane, I love to turn things around on the scammers or telemarkters..they end up hanging up on me!!!

Tomorrow is to be another hot one..

I only answer my phone
if I know who is calling and I wish to talk
to them.

If it is a person I know but not a convenient
to talk,   I will let it go to the answering
machine, and get back to them later or
I can reach over and shut it down with
out letting it go to the answering machine.

Calls from doctors and hospitals show
their name  so I will answer..
I have done this for years and I get
very few "odd calls" daily..
(maybe one or two) ...

I refuse to  be a victim of phone
harassment so I control very
carefully, who gets through to me
and who does not.

I try to maintain control as I age,
because as I know,  some things
will get out of control that
I can not manage.

So I selfishly hang on to
the control that I still have left
(giggle).

Sandy, I have Caller ID and I also do not pick up the phone if I do not recognize the number or name.  Some messages are left, but very few of those unrecognizable numbers.  I pay $10 a month for Caller ID and it is worth every penny to me.  With a presidential election coming, I know I will be inundated with calls and I don't have to answer them.  It is very easy to delete the messages that are left.

I have never been one to spend time on the phone, computer chats or lengthy email back and forths. Before cell phones, over 98% went to the answering machine and I would either delete or call back from the message. With my cell phone, it goes to messages and I decide from there.

I do the same with my door, reasoning that it's my door and my choice to answer it. Most people who know me, know to call out, and I still remember my father yelling at me to answer the "GD" door! :D I am not antisocial as some have attested. I only value my privacy and would like to pick and choose my activities.

I have some retired friends who have the TV going nonstop 24/7 for "company," and who play cards or go OTL or shopping several times a week. That isn't me or my budget altho a round, or two of poker playing with chips is always enjoyed.

Sometimes I'm reading an engrossing book or on the computer, playing with PSP when my door knocks. When I answer, it is usually someone who wants to gossip about people or celebrities or politics in a way that I do not agree with or find offensive. That is the purpose, to me, of the public rooms.

Someone had the nerve to break our no lobbying rules among others, by having her church group allowed in as "company" and then going with them door to door!!! There was a petition begun, with almost the entire building's signatures, asking for her eviction!

Ruth Ann, I just took a few index cards and used magic tape on both side to cover the touch pad.  I have also used a credit or gift card or a piece of cardboard.  Glad you are back in business with your computer and certainly that you are doing better.  Keep up the good work.

I did see my primary doctor this morning and he is referring me to a hematologist as he thinks the platelets going lower is related to the prostate cancer that has returned and is destroying the bone marrow as the cancer has moved to the bones.  So I will see the hematologist as soon as I can get an appointment to see what the treatment needs to be at this time, if any.   Just another bump in the road and I am not going to worry about it as know I will have good care.

Lloyd, sorry about the bee stings.  I know those hurt.  It has been a long time since I had a sting.  We do have some bees flying around our flowers but so far they haven't been aggressive.

Joan, that must have been very frightening when your husband reacted so badly to the bee sting.

JaneS, nice to be a couch potato occasionally.  Glad you weren't scheduled to work today.

Patricia, I never encountered any applicants who had been home schooled.  Of course, except for support people, the professionals had to have college degrees.  I do know that my best friends children received scholarships and were outstanding college students.  Of course, their parents were teachers and had degrees, which I expect is the exception. To bad one of your residents broke the lobbying rules.

June, it sounds like you have a very loving and caring housekeeper.  Hugs are special.

deAngel, I do not ever participate in phone solicitations as have no idea of who is really calling and a lot of these calling organizations remit very little of what they collect to the designated group.

Linedancer--I am one who hasn't yet got the IRS call.

Amy--No breeze here.  Not even a blade of grass moving.

Sandy--My phone system displays the name of the caller on the handset and also orally announces who is calling--so I can pretty well monitor my calls.

Angelface--I explained how I monitor my calls above.  My cell phone also displays the name of the caller.  I do answer the door if the doorbell rings at a reasonable hour.

Larry--I don't believe you meant to post that paragraph to Ruth Ann here.  As you know, she doesn't post here.  I will increase my prayers for you that treatment for the low platelets be whatever you and your hematologist deem best.  The times Ray got stung by a bee were very scary.

Larry, I join everyone in wishing you a good result concerning your low platelets.

I worked in either, hospitality, hotels,  apartment management or realtors. Or retail industries,(store, malls, etc); and I was speaking of the support employees dealing with the public such as maids, desk staff, wait staff or concierge, or clerks and cleaning staff.

When we hired professionals, I was only one of a group doing first and second interviews before passing them up along the line for final review.

Thanks for the back up about the RV, I need all the "atta girls" I can get.  I really hate to get pushed into a fight but something has to be done about those bullies.

Last I heard it was 107° today & humidity runs it a few degrees higher. How about having the AC go out mid afternoon?  Yikes!  I thought at first the unit just couldn't keep up with the heat until house kept getting warmer.. up to 84°  in the house before I caught on. I've checked all I can so will call the AC people in the morning, they didn't answer while ago.  The lower level is reasonably cool, I don't want to spend the night with any of the kids (they are horrified)....

And the latest problem was the pool water level dropped with the heat & wind so I came down to put a few inches back in, I've done it dozens of times.  BUT, the water isn't coming out of the big hose so either well is bad or something..  I hear the switch kick on but don't hear rushing water.  Not sure what this means but got a feeling this is going to be an expensive week end.  Checked breaker box & everything I can (for AC as well as the well pump).... son that usually comes to my aid is out of town help a friend's son move.  That family has him on speed dial, I think, and they never do a "pay back" for all he does for them.  At least I insist on paying for what he does for me.

Do hope the rest of you have had a better day.  By the way, Linedancer.... coffee works opposite for me, instead of keeping me awake it slows me down & sleep comes fast. My AC is not working. :'(

Larry, my problems are not important compared with yours.... I'll keep you in my prayers.

CHUCKLES

The Blind Pilot

In these days when flying has become humorless, here's a short tale that may make you smile.

A plane was flying from Seattle to San Francisco. Unexpectedly the plane stopped in Sacramento along the way. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft, the plane would reboard in 30 minutes. Everybody got off the plane except one gentleman who was blind. You could tell the man was blind because his Seeing Eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of him throughout the entire flight. It was obvious he had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached him, and calling him by name, said, "Keith, we're in Sacramento for almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your legs?" The blind guy replied, "No thanks, but maybe the dog would like to stretch his legs."

Picture this: All the people in the gate area came to a complete quiet standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with the Seeing Eye Dog! The pilot was even wearing sunglasses. People scattered. They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change airlines!

Food For Thought

Deep Inner-Bleeding
(Author Unknown)

One morning last week I heard Chuck Swindoll say that repeated sexual sin is related to deep inner-bleeding. The phrase "deep inner-bleeding" caught my attention. I had just been referred for a colonoscopy.

I called Debbie, my nurse/friend, and asked what happens if deep bleeding inside the body is found. She explained that the unhealthy part of the colon may be cauterized, and then the healthy parts are attached to each other. Any existing polyps, or growths, are surgically removed.

When I received my instructions from the gastroenterologist, preparation for the colonoscopy sounded . . . well, disgusting! The day before the procedure, after breakfast and a light lunch, I would need to drink large glasses of electrolyte solution every ten minutes to induce catharsis of my system.

The next morning, I would be sedated prior to the procedure, so I would need a friend or family member to drive me to the medical office, wait with me, and drive me home. Although I might feel up to driving, my judgment and reflexes would not be normal, and I would not be allowed to drive for the rest of the day.

As I was contemplating this physical complication, I thought of the spiritual parallels. I am a counselor, and the phrase "deep inner-bleeding" reminded me of an attractive young single friend who, I knew, was struggling with a pattern of repeated sexual sin. "Deep inner-bleeding" had resulted from that person's being touched inappropriately, when just a child, by a parent figure.

Not surprisingly, my dear friend experienced feelings of anger toward the parent figure. Secular counseling said anger was simply the flip side of the powerlessness felt as a child. That anger was also being felt against God for allowing it all to happen.

Are those emotions "cauterized" or numbed, as victims of abuse are gradually "desensitized" through repeated discussion of the memories? Is it really the memories that cause pain and deep inner-bleeding - or a "polyp," a growth?

Dr. Ed Smith, founder of TheoPhostic counseling, suggests that the pain . . . and resulting behavior . . . are caused by lies wrapped tightly in the memories. Lies from the father of lies that repeat, over and over, "You're shameful, you're dirty. There must be something wrong with you for a parent to do something like that.... If you can't trust a parent, how can you trust a Father God?"

Yes, the "catharsis" of confession of sin was needed. But this person had also been greatly sinned against, betrayed by a fellow-human. This confused, angry person needed the healing of the Holy Spirit...

As it turned out, "surgery" took place in my living room . . . unsterile but holy . . . sanctified and set apart as a place in which the Holy Spirit could operate unheeded.

As we prayed, God gave my friend a mental image of Jesus. Not a pretty picture, this abused, backstabbed, and humiliated Jesus hanging on a cross. Maybe God was scary, not to be trusted, but how could you fear a suffering, bleeding Jesus? A Jesus who, in the midst of His own terrible pain, was reaching out in love to you?

After a time of agonizing hesitancy, my friend walked the last mile and knelt at the foot of the cross. "Jesus is trying to tell me something," came the whisper. "He said He understands my feelings of shame and confusion, my feelings of betrayal and abandonment. And . . . He said I was just an innocent child."

Head knowledge had become heart assurance.

Minutes later, there was another whisper. "My parent is kneeling beside me, and it feels . . . so . . . so calm."

Later, my friend admitted, "At first I didn't want Jesus to die for my parents' sins - just my own. But now... I'm glad He did. I wonder... did the same thing happen to my parent as a child?"

The anger was gone. The Wonderful Counselor had done His work, and I had been privileged to witness the Great Physician's surgical removal of the malignant growths called lies.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-5)

Good morning everyone..
Cooler this morning, have the doors and windows open to let the cooler air in. Sleep was playing hide and go seek with me last night and I am sure a nap will be in order later in the day if need be. Will finish doing the lawn ,just the trimming needs to be done . Going to be another hot humid day here so not much else is going on.

Larry, prayers going your way , you can get over this bump in the road.

Shirley, I think you have had more than your fair share of problems, that's enough now!!!

Joan,thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  As soon as I feed the doggies and have a bit of breakfast, I'm going to make a quick run to the store for some essentials...like dog shampoo.  I have two "stinkers" under my desk and it's way past bath time.

Amy, I slept like a log until 3:45 this morning and then I dozed wakefully off and on until I finally got up at 5:30.  The zzzs were a bit elusive here, too.

I hope you all have a "cool" day in more ways than one!

Good morning, Amy.  It's cooler this morning than it's been any morning for about six weeks--76° at my house--but heading into the 90s.  Sorry sleep played hide and seek with you last night.

Lloyd--Glad you don't have to spend much time outside in this hear.

Janie--Good morning.  Since sleep was elusive for you, too, I imagine the couch will be calling your name this afternoon.  I hope your darling doggies don't mind having a bath.

Good morning, Joan and all .

Joan, I will have to pass on the bagels this morning.  I find them way too "chewy" and have a hard time eating them.  So, I had  a piece of peach cobbler that I made yesterday.  Warmed it up in the microwave and had some watermelon along with it.

Yes, my area is experiencing the current "heat wave".  As I mentioned the other day,  I will take the hot summer over the cold winter.
I know everyone doesn't share my same feelings.  And, I understand why it bothers some.  I know it must be very difficult for the ones that have to work outside in the heat all day.

I was able to sit out last evening and it was just beautiful.  Another friend and I were the last ones to come in around 10.  There were some others out earlier and it is always nice to just sit and enjoy the company.  We all try to solve the world's problems, but we just don't seem to be able to do that.

Have a great Saturday and hopefully, if you are in the hot area,  you will be able to stay cool .

Continued good thoughts go out to Larry.

Joy

I don't like the HOT summer or the COLD winter.  If I had my druthers it would be SPRING all year round.  I like the cool nights for sleeping and the days warm enough not to need a wrap but after that...

I don't mind Autumn either but I prefer not to have the leaves fall.  If I could have them all fall in a pile so I don't have to rake, I wouldn't mind but you know how that goes.

I'm finally off to the store for some essentials and then back to wash the doggies.  Don't tell them or Mickie will hide.  Annie doesn't seem to mind but Mickie really doesn't like baths.

Hi everyone.  It is already 86 degrees and headed to the high 90's this afternoon.  I have no plans for today other than to try to stay inside.  I have already done the watering outside and also completed the morning chores inside that I do each day like emptying the dish washer, opening the blinds, taking my medicine and getting my breakfast.

I appreciate all your expression of concern for me and do appreciate your keeping me in your prayers.  I did quite a bit of reading on the treatments and the side-effects are certainly not pleasant.  Since I don't know what the path ahead will be I am not going to waste my time worrying about something that may well not happen.  I looked it up last night and it has been almost 12 years since I had the seeding done for the cancer and these have been good years.  I am grateful to still be around.

Joan, you are right in that I didn't intend to include the paragraph with my comments addressed to Ruth Ann.  I had copied what I had written that I wanted to share in Norm's B&T discussion and here in the Soda Shoppe and when I got here I forgot to delete that paragraph.  Hopefully what I said to her may be of help to someone else.  What a great "Food for Thought" for today.

Amy, Joan and JaneS, I also didn't get much sleep after about 3:30 this morning.

Lloyd, glad you are staying inside as much as you possibly can.  We raised chickens on the farm and I can remember when it was so hot in NW Missouri that the chicks had their beaks open due to the heat.

Patricia, hiring new employees was never one of my favorite duties but went with a couple of the positions I held.

Shirley, what a day for your A/C to go on the fritz.  I hope they get it fixed today.  I hope your well hasn't gone dry. Maybe it just lost its prime.  I disagree with you completely that your problems are not important.  In fact I know that they have given you more grief than my health issues.

Joy, I wouldn't have objected if the peach I had for breakfast had been surrounded by a nice crust of a cobbler.  I understand the enjoyment of just sitting and visiting with your friends.  I have been asked several times what do we find to talk about.  I answer that most of us don't remember what we talked about last week or before so hearing stories and life experiences or discussing world problems is basically new each time.

Lloyd--I forget things, too. :)

Good morning, Joy.  It's nice that folks where you live sit out and socialize when weather permits.  Speaking of peach cobbler, my neighbor made some the other day and brought me a big serving.  It sure was good.

Janie--When you find that place that is Spring year around, let me know.  I'll move there.

Good morning, Larry.  Apparently there were several "friends" who didn't sleep well last night.  Hope you can take a nap today.

Good morning everyone. Once again the thunderstorms missed us but hit in other parts. One house was struck in Providence. Will be into the soupy weather here today. Another day to stay inside. I really feel bad for anyone who has to work outside in this weather.

JOAN  at least for a few days it cooled off in the evenings.

LARRY  good luck today.

JEANNE P  I get those calls about a Windows problem often and always tell them I don't have a computer. I get the free trip, IRS and several others. They are very annoying.

JANE guess a few are taken in by those scams so they keep trying to find another one that falls for it. I seldom answer my phone, wait for the machine to pick up the calls,  if TV is on I get the number and name an the bottom of the screen.

SHIRLEY  hang in there. Remember the saying-- it's always darker before the dawn. Things have to start getting better for you.

JOAN  a plain toasted bagel with cream cheese would be good this AM. Love the Chuckles. Food for Thought makes me thankful nothing like what that child went through happened to me. Good quote and so true. Thank you for all today's goodies.

LLOYD  watch out for bees when you are out today.

JOY  have you ever toasted a bagel? That is the only way I will eat them. Not that chewy then.

Good morning, Gloria.  It was a bit cooler here early this morning, but now the sun is beating down and temp rapidly rising.  I really don't care for bagels, but know many folks love them.  My sister goes to the bagel store and buys a dozen at a time--and eats them all in two or three days.

Good Morning Everyone!

Janie, falling leaves can be a pain, but you know you don't have to rake them, just use your lawn mower and mulch them and leave them to rot and like Lloyd said nourish and fertilize the yard.  That is exactly what I do, always have.  It only takes a short while for them to disappear.

Joy, it must be hot for you to complain and not want to go out to work on some project.

Gloria, go ahead and rub it in about all you "bad" weather and rain.  I will get even. ;)

Joanie, ah, peach cobbler, I could eat it everyday, well maybe throw in some banana pudding on an occasional day.

Larry, I suspect you are much like me.  I too had a prostate operation many years ago (23) and now they suspect it is showing back up.  What ever the Good Lord decides is okay with me.  I had a friend that had lung cancer and it moved into the bone and he ended up with radiation not as a curative but as a procedure to ease the pain. As we age so many things go on with the body, that we have no control over, that I can understand people just wanting to be left alone and let nature do its thing.  My daughter is an RN and I can remember when she first went onto the floor in acute care at a hospital and would come home upset at doctors dragging out the inevitable and she said causing more grief for the patient and family.  I too went through a similar thing with my Mother and Father.  Doctors wanting to perform procedures that would not save/cure just probe that: as one put it, help us to manage better if they survive.  That was after telling the family there was no hope.  I have to see my gut doctor next week and I plan on telling him I want off three meds that he prescribed, a couple that supposedly slows down the thinking process.  I don't need assistance in that area..... ;D

We just got a phone call from some friends that the husbands Mother just died.
She had Alzheimer's disease for sometime.  And she was a Catholic but they refused to perform a funeral service because she hadn't been to church in some time. So much for compassion. Another denomination is conducting a service.

Lloyd sometime when we are talking remind me to tell you of my fight with Bumble Bees.  Quite comical really.

Well I need to balance my check book and get busy with my daily do nothing chores, I never get caught up.

For all of you that have illness and stress to deal with you remain in my prayers.

Talk to you all later.

Tisie, I hope you have someone that can fight the fight for you in regards to that lemon of an RV.  I think I would drive to the dealership everyday and just go in to the owner/manager and just look him in the eye and let him know you have him in your thoughts.  I just know Kansas has to have someone that can help you.   Seems like you have lawyer, cant he direct you.

My front door has a peep hole and my side and back doors have windows overlooking them so I don't answer the door if it is someone I don't recognize.  My neighbors and friends always call before they come to my house.  Same with the phone...if I recognize the caller ID that shows on all my phones and on the TV screen I will answer.  Otherwise, they can leave a message and I'll call them back.  If they don't leave a message than I don't care to hear from them.

Hot here....very!  But, most of you are going through the same discomfort so I won't belabor the point.   ;)  But, it is hard to sleep comfortably or to move around and hard to just breathe.  My asthma has been as bad this year as I have ever had it. Joan, I understand a little bit about what you have to go through with using breathing aids like oxygen.  My inhaler helps but doesn't do a complete job and I can't use it too often....2 sprays just once or twice a day.  And just trying to get a good, deep breath wears me down.  So, I have been really lazy for the past several days.  Thank goodness for books and my love of reading!

Hal, some areas where the leaves really pile up quickly David will rake but mostly we just mow and mulch them into the grass.  In hot climates it not only re-nourishes the soil but it cools the grass roots and keeps it from burning out so quickly.  I am seriously considering mulching most of my front yard with shredded pine bark and a few low shrubs arranged to look attractive.  No mowing at all!  That is what many of my neighbors have done.  But, the downside is that you have to hire someone to deliver and spread the mulch.   :(

Hal, I'm pretty sure you have to have a lawn mower to mow up the leaves.  I don't own one.  So far, the people who mow my grass have supplied the mower.  And I don't think the area is big enough to accommodate the leaves that accumulate there.  The wind blows them in from every direction and they hang on my fence and accumulate in the corners.

I'll just take Spring when the stay on the trees!

a regular lawn mower will do the job and when mulched you would be surprised how little of them there are.  Pick one up and crushed it in you hand.

I no longer own a lawn mower, but my lawn guy comes over and does the leaves and I have those big Oak leaves and thick as hair on a dogs back.

Good evening.....Its hot here too, very draining weather......I took a short walk down slope, through our small wooded area, through the alleyway then back, just getting uphill is a struggle...I have to stop - start, straighten my body then grab hold of Rs shirt sleeve for balance...
..........................................
Halkel, re, your choosing of coming off three lots of medications....I too am very reluctant to go on medications, my MS Consultant is wanting me to start on a trial but I am not sure...medications may do what they are supposed to do, but their will always be side affects...the meds he is prescribing for me might mess up my brain, my thinking and my senses...( I have already looked the two choices up. ) so far my mind is still functioning and very alert...and I want to keep it this way....

Talking of lawn mowers, our back garden grass seems to grow much quicker here, much to R's non-amusement...too fast for him...

Good Morning,

I've been reading but not posting.  No particular reason - just nothing to add to the conversational threads, I guess.

My sympathies to each of you experiencing health issues.

Oklahoma is included in the Heat Alert area but this kind of weather isn't unusual in July/August.  As I remember, we didn't pay that much attention until the weather gurus began explaining every detail and "suggesting" we would be uncomfortable.
Growing up, we didn't have a/c but our house had windows placed so as to allow a good cross-breeze. After we got a big attic fan, I remember feeling chilly in the middle of the night and pulling up an extra cover.
Houses certainly aren't built that way any more!

I don't deliberately go out in the heat but I don't  mind it as long as I'm not directly in the sun.  I love to be outside in the long summer twilights after the sun goes down.

When #2 granddaughter was playing League softball,  her mother made neck coolers for the team.  These are fabric tubes with a small spoonful of some of kind of crystals put in them.  When soaked in water, the crystals swell and become icy cold.  She sewed seams to keep the crystals in the middle of the tube so that area can be placed on the back of the neck, leaving streamers to tie the cooler in place.  The coolness lasts for hours!

After I remembered I had some, I've really made use of one to go out and do my bit of "pot gardening".

July has mostly been taking care of regular medical appointments.   From all reports,  I'm "good to go" for a while.  Just wish the things that "can't be cured so must be endured" would get that message!!!!

And that's it from my little corner of the world.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

HAL - I just read your post about the person who passed, but her Catholic Church would NOT perform the Last Rights or Funeral Service because she had not attended Church for some time.  I've absolutely never heard of that kind of abandonment in a Catholic Church.  To me that is not only a lack of respect for the deceased, but also a very negative attitude expressed by the denomination itself.  In all the areas in the USA where I've lived, there has always been Priests who visit hospitals, Nursing Homes, Retirement communities on a regular basis.
And often on special Holidays, they encourage members of their Congregations to gather together and visit those who are not able to attend Services any longer, but would be delighted to receive an occasional visit.

Good Morning my dear Loves, I am so glad to have you in my life. I have had a so-so couple of days, and today is not so great either. Took my shower and shampoo and got so tired out and dizzy, I had to lay down to slather on the lotion that is essential after a good scrub down. I have no plans for this day, will take it as it comes.

We will have sack lunches delivered to our rooms today which will be a treat to have since I don't feel up to going down for meals. The kitchen and waiters are going to have a treat today……a picnic just for themselves during the lunch hours. First time ever to have this happen, and I am so very delighted with management for doing this for them. They give us so much day after day after day, they certainly deserve a time out of their always busy day. And it should be a good lesson for some residents that feel they deserve everything there is to get. It's surprising how selfish some elderly people can get.

Larry, dear friend, my prayers are with you for a complete healing. You are such a kind and giving person, and you have faced enough tragedy in your life. Our last years should be the best ones..peace and fair health. God be with you, your optimistic attitude proves your faith.

Your are all such a good and loyal group of caring friends, and I am so glad to know you, and I look forward to the time we will all arrive on the other side, and rejoice in what awaits us. Have a GREAT day.

halkel--One of the good things about FL is that there is never any leaves to rake.  I am Catholic and never heard of the church refusing to have a funeral Mass/burial for one of their own.  Maybe the family should contact the Bishop.

Phyllis--My front door and my phones are like yours.  I don't have to open the door if I don't recognize the person and if phone announcement is not someone I know or want to talk to, I just let it go to the answering machine.  Did your doctor ever mention using a nebulizer?

Janie--When my children were growing up in NY they loved leaf raking time.  We all got out and raked, made big piles and they jumped in them.  When they were too old for that they didn't want any part of raking leaves.

Vanilla-Jackie--I take so many meds already, I don't want to hear about adding more.

Callie--Those neck coolers sound very helpful.  Why didn't I know about those all those years our son was playing baseball?

Molly--As I said above, I've never heard of the Catholic Church refusing services to a baptized Catholic.

June--That's a nice gesture to honor the workers with a picnic of their own and provide residents with bag lunches.  Those residents who complain ought to have to go hungry at lunch time.

Joanie, Molly, I never heard of any church refusing to conduct the funeral service even if they weren't a member.  I am not sure about the Mother, but the son and daughter-in-law are both devout Catholic's, so I don't know what is going on.  And I really don't feel it is my place to get involved.

Finally got the checkbook in balance, I have got to start doing it more often, made so many dumb mistakes, all because I had put it off for so long.  Anyhow, hooray,  I still had money left in the bank..... ;D

Joan, I have used a nebulizer on occasion but my dr. has never suggested that I use one regularly.  She feels that the inhaler is just as effective when I need it and I can carry it with me wherever I go.  I have my annual check-up in about a month and I'm going to ask her about it again.

I just finished putting up 5 pints of cucumber "icebox" pickles and I made a big jar of peanut butter, too.  I have a bag full of yellow and zucchini squash to do something about.  My neighbor's husband has a huge garden out at their other house in the country and she shares tons of veggies with me every summer.  I return the favor with bread and homemade applesauce.  My neighbor on the other side brought back a baker's dozen of beautiful peaches from their mountain home in the Smokies and I froze most of those minus a few that I sliced over vanilla ice cream.  I have wonderful neighbors!

Our delivered lunch arrived. a very thick sandwich of turkey and cheese. Small packs of mayo and mustard for those that use it, a nice big lettuce leaf and two slices of tomato. All served separately. a small bag of potato chips, two big cookies and a bottle of water. The snack bars always have coffee, tea, creamer and sugar, and some type of coffee cake. So we are well cared for. I'm sort of wondering if this is a practice test in case of power failure or other disaster. A good solid idea whatever the reason, and a nice gesture for the servers and cooks.

I too have never heard of any church refusing a funeral service. I think even prisons have Chaplains for the dying. Maybe not at all times, but in an emergency.Somebody made a big goof they will have to answer for.

Callie, I wonder if this high heat we are having in certain states is an unusual thing of nature or if it could be a repeat of what has happened in the past in various areas. Now Ca. and Fl. didn't have their normal winter coolness...no rain, too much sun.

Halkel, shame on that Catholic Church for not allowing this ladies funeral service to take place in their church.....There could have been 1,001 legitimate reasons why she couldn't, or never attended her church on a regular basis, her illness being one.......The fact is, this church WAS her church....she should have been respected for that....

Last summer, there was a similar case with a Baptist church in Atlanta. A woman who had not only been a member all her life, eighty plus years, was refused a burial for the same reasons and her sons sued and many folks left that church in sympathy.

I suspect it all comes down to paying dues regularly.

I've never heard of a church refusing a funeral either but when I was a regular member of the local Catholic church and raising my children there because my husband would not go anywhere else, I asked that prayers be said when my grandmother passed away.  The Priest refused because my grandmother had not been a member of the Catholic Church.  It didn't matter that she was a devout Christian who had lived her life as Jesus would have wished.  They would not even say a prayer for her.  To this priest's credit, he did promise to personally pray for her but would not include her in the church's prayers.  I was quite disturbed by this.  And I think this might have changed recently but it was very hard for me to accept.

I finished all the curtains.  I was just doing the final stitching on the last panel when Cathy stopped by to see if I was feeling better after my cold or whatever it was.  She took them with her and now the upstairs is finished.  The last time I was there, I counted and there arr 9 windows and 2 doors with windows in them downstairs.  I haven't heard anything at all about curtains for those windows.

I'm going over to my son's for a cookout pretty soon.  I'm thinking that, as hot as it is, the cookout might be brought inside to eat.  Guess I better get ready.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend.  Keep COOL!

halkel--I don't know what is going on, but like you I wouldn't want to get involved in another's religious events.

Phyllis--I have to use the nebulizer 7 times a day.  I have two inhalers--one to be used 4x a day and the other twice a day--plus the oxygen 24/7.  What great neighbors to give you fruit and veggies.

June--That was a nice bag lunch they provided today.

Vanilla-Jackie--On Monday the Eucharistic Minister from my church comes, and I am going to ask him about refusal to have a funeral.

Angelface--It's a darned shamed that sacrament of burial in one's own church comes down to $$.

Janie--I don't blame you for being upset because the Catholic Church wouldn't offer prayer when your grandmother died.  Great you got the curtains done.  Enjoy the cookout.

Well, as a life long Catholic that married a non-Catholic and had a father that was not Catholic, I bounce all the opinions around why people do things & will add my 2¢.

When my husband died we honored his wishes to have no services and had his body cremated as he wished.  The Priest where I go to church came to visit a few days later so I mentioned that our family & extended family planned to gather one Sunday,  go to Mass and back to my house for breakfast/brunch, as a closure for US.  He asked if he could suggest the people say a prayer after the sermon for Cas, and I thought the family would appreciate it.  We filled several pews, a few lumps in our throats as we said a prayer for my husband and then had a great meal after with our whole "blended" family.  One ex-son in law with his wife & their 2 grown sons had no qualms about sharing the day with us (his 2 oldest kids are my oldest grandchildren). Nobody even thought about whether my husband was Catholic or not, not in church when we all said a prayer for him or at home, where it did not matter at all.

So it makes me sad to hear negative things about any religion that teaches love.  Churches are made up of people that can have a different view of what is right & wrong, but if they don't teach LOVE and forgivness, they don't count as a religion in my estimation. Not Christian, at least, since HE came to earth to offer forgiveness for all of us, no other reason.

Janie, I say, "Shame on that Priest or any other so narrow minded!"  I would have guessed in Hal's case it was family that judged her not worthy if she hadn't been to church for a while.... sometimes family members get pompous about their own self worth & critical of anyone that doesn't get into that "holier & thou" mode.

End of my sermon!    :angel2:

FYI:  The AC is running it's little heart out to get rid of the humidity from having doors open... got a new perspective of what to pay my son for his "service calls".... How about $300 just for the trip & the part was under warranty, didn't take the AC guy 20 min to replace the part.

Son pulled the submersible pump (for sprinkler system & fill the pool), pump is worn out so have to shop for the new, as like this as possible.  Looks like between $500-$1000 & I insisted my son take $500 for his labor today & to put it back in.  I think I am getting off cheap on labor!  He gave me a hard time but I am boss & he finally put the money in his pocket.

The next problem was the ceiling fan over the family room table.  I never turn the fan on but use the 5 lights under it often.... both came on this morning (house was SO HOT) & hour or so later I noticed it wasn't running.  Bummer, it can't be repaired so will have to find a new light fixture.  We found this one in KC & brought it with us... don't find brass like it has anymore.   :'(       :tissue:

Okay, early Sat night bath & wash hair.... not that I need it!   :hot:   Sweet dreams to all & God Bless~

Shirley, Molly and others.  I am now not so sure they were refused a service.  I am now being told they couldn't get the date they wanted.  Now I am going to leave it at that.  Like many of you, it just doesn't make sense about the refusal.  But I have gotten different stories and I should have just kept things to myself, but the first version was the refusal one, now others are coming up.

I am tired, have been even before supper tonight and lost my appetite, so I off to bed.

nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams

Shirley, many people now days are skipping the traditional funeral and just going for a memorial at a church after burial with just the family present.  I see nothing wrong with it and kinda like the idea.  Some call it a celebration of life.

We call it a Celebration of Life in my church...The Episcopal Church.  This is the church in which I grew up and where I returned when my children were all grown and my husband decided he wanted a different wife and a different church.  I'm home again!

Shirley, I like your idea of honoring your husband and if you don't mind, I'm going to make it part of my wishes.  I think I'd like being neighbors with you!  But I think I said that before.

And now I'm off to Dreamland.  Good night Everyfriend!  May God's love protect and keep you through the coming night and all those that follow.

Well, still have to take that shower & wash my hair... been a whole string of phone calls... and I enjoyed every one of them so won't gripe.

Hal, I knew you just got a clip of what was going on so that's why I figured it might be the family making that decision... same happened with one of my brothers, his kids thought because he didn't go to church it didn't matter to him but I know it did.  He didn't go to any "group" meetings or join anything & since our dad didn't go to church it was sort of an excuse for him not to.  I was sorry his kids didn't understand him better but not my place to even hint I thought they were wrong. Good you mentioned it, I'd never heard of any church refusing & look what has come up to talk about!

Janie, we would certainly keep things buzzing if we lived near, huh?  Thanks.... and I am sorry that you had to deal with a Priest like that.... and think your ex was a "sorry" person as well (dumb, too, for letting you go).  The way I felt was I didn't ask my husband to change and would not have wanted him to ask me to change, but we agreed before we got married that I would take them to church (he didn't go).  I made sure the kids knew that he prayed as hard as I did in his own way & time, especially when they were sick.

I'm leaving up to the kids about my service, just want to know I'm in their thoughts at a Mass.... and don't say "no flowers" 'cause I love flowers , what they don't want to take home with them, they can sent them to a nursing home after I'm put away (my niche is paid for & urn holds all the necessary papers)...., and I want them to "feed everyone" on my dime, that joins them at the Mass.  They all have a lot of friends that would come for their sake, but most of mine, including family, don't travel any more.  I plan to hang on till I'm 120 so be a lot less by then.  That's my plans... have you ever known plans to follow through?   ;)

Better get that shower & some sleep, no nap today & not a lot of zzzzzzzzzzzzs last night.

One more oops! tonight.... I have a nice LED recessed light that comes at dark by the front door, 3 or 4 more under the eves come on at the same time.  My son put the new LEDs in after Cas died (supposed to last for years).... we've never found any switch for them so built in "dusk to dawn" lights..... and they didn't come on tonight!  Nary a one came on so NOT a bulb problem.  Wonder what next~~~ dum-de-dum-dum.......
