Larry, better warn you that those rubber Sears/Craftsman hoses are heavy, VERY heavy.  My husband bought one of the light weight ones on TV that scrunches up to nothing when he got weaker, but didn't like it at all, gave it away.  Gr-son bought one since & said they are great!  Don't want to recommend something more trouble than it's worth.

Hal, my little Escape... don't remember the year... I picked out online & drove to the dealer & asked for that particular one, got a salesman that thought I should look at others first.  Asked if "he had that stock number because that was the only one I was interested in".  They were jumping all over the place to get my little Subaru Outback Limited & all the extras you could think of (turbo eng)... with less than 7,000 miles on it.  Almost 3 years old & I had taken it back a couple times to Subaru for loud noise on start up.  They insisted it was normal, that ended my dealings with Subaru.

Sadly, the Escape had a known flaw in it... would pause or fell like it died when power was needed.  First time I took it in the crew knew about the computer glitch & "fixed it".  Trouble was, it happened again in the middle of an intersection with cars flying off the overhead by-pass & 4 lanes of traffic each way as I took my turn entering that busy spot....world stopped & so did my heart, but lucky everyone managed to get around me without hitting.  When my husband died I decided I didn't want to keep his big Enclave & sure didn't need 2 vehicles since I already had the Rialta.... and knew my best chance of getting a good price for the Enclave (just rolled over 8,000 miles) was to take it back to the salesman we bought from.  Never been sorry, they gave me a big wad of money & this new little red Buick Encore for the Enclave & Escape.  My little Encore has never given me a single problem in the 3 years I've had it, has the turbo engine so quick as a cat and great gas mileage, & this turbo does not call for premium gas.  My sister, can't count how many nieces & nephews drive the Escapes... love them.  I was following a new one this week, admiring the style & had to look to see what it was, complete re-design since mine. Pretty cars... my father was a Ford man, don't think he ever owned anything else.   I was a Daddy's Girl so stuck with Fords except for a Cadillac Sedan deVille & Cas ordered a DTS shortly after Dad died. That deVille was comfy when the kids were little & we made those long trips to the east coast to visit Cas's family.

Oh, Joan, I came in here to get a nap & got on the computer instead... now it's time for a shower & wash hair, finish that big pot of spaghetti for Kate Elizabeth's daddy, brother & sister.  The kids were at day care camp all day and daddy went to work until time for the baby to come home, tomorrow, I think he gets a week off then.  Her mother is coming for a week and then my daughter will be with them for a week.  Boy, I never had such care!  Will be plenty of left overs if they need for tomorrow night, until the other Grammy shows up.  Got to get this body in gear.  Be back tonight........temp of 93 with "real feel" of 109... miserable.

JoanFL

Jenny--Glad Patti is doing OK.  Morphine makes me VERY nauseous.  Glad Diane's GD is OK after the T & A.

Mary Ann--I think it great that your family gets together for nice lunches.  I'll check the Grand Haven link when I am done here.

Shirley--How nice of you to make spaghetti for the new baby's family.  You're right about not having any help when I bought my babies home.  In all fairness, I'll say Ray was a great help, but neither of our families came to help.

JaneS

When my second child was born, my sister happened to be in town and she took Cathy home with her while I was in the hospital recovering from a C-Section.  She brought her home the day after Cindy and I came home from the hospital.  Cathy ran in the house with a package shouting, "I made this for Cindy Lou!"  It was a little hand made nightgown and when we asked if she made it herself she said "Well, Aunt Margie helped me."

When I brought the twins home from the hospital, my grandmother was sitting in the living room waiting to hold the baby.  It sure made feeding time easier.  She fed one and I fed the other.  She also washed dishes and made beds and that was nice, too.

By the time the twins were two, my grandmother was gone but my father had retired and he appeared without warning a few times a week to "help".  I said he came to "play".  Either way, it helped.  he was my most dependable babysitter and there were many years when there were little sneaker prints all over my ceiling.  The kids admitted they did it by walking on the ceiling (with Daddy Wright's help)  Thanks to him, they had a fun childhood.  And I had so relaxing times.

It's almost time for JAG and then bedtime.  Tomorrow is another work day.  Hope you all had a good day!

halkel what a great car for you wife, FORD knows how to make them :)

halkel

Mycheal, thanks, my wife really likes it.
Shirley, my wife fell in love with the car when she saw it, just didn't like the dark interior of the one she drove.  The bargaining turn out okay but to begin with they didn't want to give me very much for my trade-in  He offered 500 dollars, yeah, that isn't a typo.  And the monthly lease was way out of line, I told him no way was I trading like that.  He went to his sales manager and he came up and I told him in no uncertain times I wasn't even going to discuss his figures.  I then told him let me give you a little background.  I explained the age of myself and wife and that I had no intention of leaving her a lease payment she couldn't handle if something happen to me.  He ask what I was looking for and I gave him what I wanted to pay monthly and zippo, changeo my trade-in suddenly became worth much more and the payment magically became exactly what I wanted.  I told him when he came back the first time with the salesguy that I was going to walk and in fact got up and started toward the door.  My wife was in panicville.  My Son-in-law had a big smile and afterward told me, he thought no way could they meet my terms on the car in question.  But they did,
then this morning I was going through my paperwork and found the title to my old car.  They forgot to keep it, so I called the salesguy and left him a message I had it and would bring it down on Thursday, but he called back and said he would come to the house a pick it up, which he did.

Any old how, I am still tired from yesterday and fixing to hit the sack.  I have bible study in the morning, looking forward to it.  I watched a video today of my Grandson if anyone cares to watch it click on the following link:

June Drabek

Look what the cat dragged in....me. I am weary, again, but it was a good day. Had my monthly visit with Dr. Le. I really like her, and she treats me like I have a brain in my head. Showed me the results of last months blood tests, said to keep doing what I am doing. I have lost three more lbs. down to 109. Lowest I have ever been in my adult life. She was not alarmed so I am not either.

Tomorrow is going to be a special day for me. My d.i.l is going to perform one of her skits for us after she joins us for lunch. I can hardly wait to see her perform. I am so proud of her. When I first met her she was so shy, but how she has developed as she grew in assurance. She travels all over putting on these religious comical skits, always ending in a good biblical lesson. Her husband, my son Gary, was here today giving us a blble lesson. He too is very popular in his teaching. I feel extremely blessed to have them in my life.

Micheal, I am glad to see you again today. You are a special friend and always an asset to our group.

Hal, I'm glad you got your way with the car arrangements, and I pray your wife enjoys it for years to come.

Time for me to close down and put this person to bed. I am tired. May God grant you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow. Hugs, Love and Prayers, always. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good Thursday morning, Everyfriend.  There's sticky buns to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a good day!!

CHUCKLES

The Bacon Tree

A group of early settlers heading West got off the Oregon Trail and found themselves lost and running out of supplies. One evening, they camped near a stream, and as it became darker, they saw a campfire a little way up the hill on the same stream.

The next morning, they headed out to see who was there. They found a small cave and an old Rabi had made his home there.

"We're lost and hungry, can you help us?"

He thought a moment, then said, "I have very little and can only share the water in this stream, and I know only that there's a Bacon Tree about a mile West of here along the stream."

They couldn't pack up and roll out fast enough, the thought of BACON filled their minds. As they went through a small narrow gorge, they were accosted by a band of Walla Walla Indians who were not happy to see them and would have robbed them if they had anything of value.

Beaten up and nursing a few wounds, they got out, but the leader of the group went back to the old Rabi with several men, all of them angry. "You said there was a Bacon Tree, and all we found was an Ambush by angry Indians!"

The Rabi thought a moment, adjusted his little round glasses, looked up and said. "Oy Vey! Ham Bush, Bacon Tree, who knew?"

Food For Thought

Only Jesus Saves
(by Patricia Clement)

I am no great writer or pastor, but I felt that I needed to share with you about how the Lord Jesus ministered to me about my brother.

I went to Michigan to visit my brother who had just had his voice box removed; he has cancer of the lungs. My brother and I have always been the best of friends. We drank together, smoked together and did drugs together. If you messed with him, you had to fight me, and vice-versa. But when I accepted Jesus into my heart, my brother could not stand the sight of me for more than two minutes without trying to start a fight. He finally stopped talking to me for about two years, but I never stopped praying for him because I love him so.

When I was in Michigan I wanted so bad for my brother to turn to the Lord, but God in His wisdom stopped me from pushing any further. When I was praying one morning I was given John 4:42:

"They said to the woman, 'We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.'" - John 4:42 (NIV)

As many times as I had read the story of the woman at the well, I had missed that truth. My brother knew the life I had lived and he also had witnessed the "new creature" that I had become. I did not need to continue to push Jesus at him. The Lord told me to just love him and He would take care of the rest. The woman at the well had testified to the people about who Jesus was, but it was what Jesus said to them and how He touched their hearts that made the difference.

Love your family and keep praying for them, but please remember: only Jesus saves.

Good morning, Lloyd.  It's hot for you to be working outside.  You are having bad luck with tires.

Hi everyone.  It is going to be another 100 degree day here with no rain in sight.  I woke up at 4 am and could never go back to sleep.  The normal morning chores are done and the trash bin is at the street.

Today I will pick up my friend at his new living place, which is an assisted living home very close by to go to coffee.  Our Minister is on a well earned weeks vacation.  His wife insisted they go out of the country and she planned the trip for St. Croix. After coffee I will stop at Chick-Fil-A to pick up a good meal.  I placed the order online last evening and when I get there I just have to click on "I'm Here" and the order will be filled.  After I get my friend back to his apartment I will stop at a Dollar Store and pick up some cards that Pat needs for the Sunday School card ministry.  If I am not too tired I may make a quick stop for a couple of items at Walmart.  That will be my exciting day, at least that I know of now.

Hal, that seems very reasonable increase for your new car.  Our insurance rates here in South Carolina are very high and I pay over $300/year for my 2004 PT Cruiser.

Mary Ann and Gloria, sorry to read that you are having more computing problems.  I believe tomorrow is the last day to download Windows 10 for free.

JeanneP, I thought my car insurance was high until I read what you pay for yours on only one older car.

Shirley, thanks for the heads up on the weight of the Sears garden hoses.  I don't want a really heavy one so will pass on Sears.  I liked the scrunchy hose but now have had two of them fail just this year.

JoanFL

Good morning, Larry.  Sorry you had one of those nights when you woke up too early.  I didn't know you could place a Chick-Fil-A order online and pick it up like that.  I'll have to try it.  You have several things on your schedule today.

I have a doctor's appointment later this morning to get the report on last week's lab work.  I really don't relish going out in this heat--but have no choice.

Been home quite some time now, picked up my BP meds from chemist across the road, stopped off at dairy farm shop, bought a cappuccino, sat outside but drizzled with fine rain, R doesn't like water in any shape or form so reluctantly went back and sat inside the small seating area which was quite busy with others ordering foods....this is not your picturesque tea room but we have popped in here before, it is almost on our doorstep and handy for picking up pint of milk....

Female doctor done a swab test for Vaginal Vaginosis if I have got that name right,..... I must phone Monday for the swab result, she has also referred me back to Dorchester Hospital, this time to see the Gynaecologist, her intentions are for me to have a CT Scan so that they can find what is going on, seeings this bleed has been going on for so long....this appointment should come through in a fortnight....We have now ruled out a tiny lump in lower stomach, right groin side is harmless and nothing of concern....a tiny skin lump I have pointed out to others, but no one in the past has taken me as serious.....anyway GP has settled my worries and ruled that out...

We are only given a ten minute GP slot, so I mentioned at the last minute about my MS Consultant and his recommendations of one of two choices of med's..... that was as far as I could get, we had run out of time but I just had time to tell her I was declining these two med's, I need and want to keep a clear head...she said that's ok, its my choice, my preference.....Ha ha, end of conversation, time was up..... ;D

Gloria

Good morning everyone, once again I had to call HP and they took the computer back to original. Now everything has to be installed again. I am so tired of this and being here now is like torture. NO not at S&F but the PC in general. I am wondering if I should use the disks I made of the hard drive when it was running good. Lost my Cox email and contacts again. Glad I still have Gmail. Then I might make it worse if I did that. Today I have a dentist appointment and that I look forward to. Hope she can fix the partial so I can eat with it in again. 2 sharp places that hurt.

MARY ANN  I am having enough problems without downloading 10. Tried it once and got rid of it.

JUNE  the reason I bought this PC was the other one was so slow. Wish I had it back now. Wonder if I should ask my son if he is using it.

PHYLLIS  the humidity here has been up in the low 70% and that is not normal here.

JOAN  I have told you before, never say you are sorry when you are away from your PC longer than intended. You have a life away fro it like we all have. It is short so enjoy it when you can.  I was here at the PC but fighting with it once again.

SHIRLEY  when my daughter was born I was home in 3 days and had 2 little sons and her to take care of. No help from anyone.

HAL  will watch later. Have it up on new page.

JOAN  sticky buns is just what I need, something sweet and yummy to make me forget this ^(*^(&( PC.  Good chuckle. Only Jesus Saves is so true. No one likes to be preached to unless ready. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JACKIE  hope the news is good for a change.

JANE  wish it it would get down to the 60's at night. That is when the humidity really seeps in through walls.

AMY  glad the AC in the car that I will be in for a short ride has a good AC in it.

LARRY  I wonder is downloading 10 would take away most of the problems I have with this PC then I think too many new things to learn. Trying to learn the iPhone and that would be too much.

JOAN  hope you have good news on that lab work.

HAL  your grandson is a smart young man.

Hal, I started to watch your grandson's video so I saw him and heard him.  Fine young man.  But when I saw the video was 38 minutes long, I clicked off it; I just don't have the patience to watch at 38 minute video - from anyone.

Gloria, my main problems with this computer involve replying on S&F and writing something in Word.  I did remove MS Word and that did not help.  To replace Word, I downloaded Open Office and what little I use it, it is OK - so far.

It is getting warm enough outside that I will turn on the a/c.

Jackie, it looks as if you may have a doctor who is interested in your problem; I hope so.

Good Morning all, I had a good nights sleep, did all my readings, exercises and massages of of legs and feet, now wondering how to find more hours in the morning. I can look out my window at 7 a.m. and see folks already gathering for breakfast at the small dining room down below. I'm lucky to come awake at that time. I did wake at six and took my thyroid pill, but then just dosed for another half hour.

Time to eat some breakfast now and get the day started. It is going to be a special day. My Dori will be doing a skit for all we ladies after lunch today. Wheeeeeee.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Junedrabek, say a special hello from me to your Dori please.....and tell her what a wonderful gift she is sharing with your " home " room pals, she probably is unaware that she is livening up so many peoples day today.....

Lindancer

Good morning everyone,  Phyllis I agree with you about the weather, this is the 2nd week of 90's.  Last years here on Estern LI, we never made 90.

I have another doctor's appointment to morrow, to have stitches out of leg wound.  I went in Monday, and he could take them out, as the cut was infected.  Then yesterday went to the hematologist.  the blood count went down again, so need the Precrite shot. New rule after 3 months, Medicare has to approve it again.  So back I go on Monday for the shot.
The doctor did suggest I sign up for the Chronic Care Management. My husband had it.  Medicare has to be primary ins. You have 2 diagnoses. At my age he thought it a good idea and liveing alone.
A RN will call me once a month to discuss my health and answer any questions   It is suppose to make better communication between all   my doctors. I will try it for a few months.

Gloria, sorry about PC troubles.  I think they should just give you a new one.

Joan and Everyfriends...I now think our time has come that we grab what outside life and fun activities that we get a chance of, that are NOT connected to Vets, GP Surgeries and Hospital Tests and Consultations.....which just seem to be our norm nowadays....

Joan, running behind schedule is just what we need to raise our BP levels, not....

Shirley

Hal, before I forget, I got to watch most of your gr-son's video & I was impressed with his sincere tone of voice.  Appreciated him not having that "accusing" tone like so many do when preaching.  Nice looking kid, does he look like you did at that age?     I stayed up doing laundry during the night so videos came in at that time.

Linedancer, scary when a sore gets infected... I don't recall hearing about Precrite shot before, so I Googled. When my daughter's SED rate was so low & the doctor finally agreed to try the iron & B-12 shot, she snapped back immediately.  She got those shots every month until the baby was born but then another doctor took over & she became anemic again.  This time she took 40mg iron tabs plus calcium that worked.  When her son was diagnosed with Crohn's disease & looked like a 6'4" starved POW... she convinced him to take the vitamins & worked for him, too. Glad you found what worked for you.

My little Encore insurance was outrageous (I thought) for a 3 year old car that gets minimum miles.... so I dropped the collision, have all the rest, still costs nearly $600 for a year (kept the comp) because I don't have multi car discount.  Do have the house with them but they don't do RVs.  It should not be so much difference when only one car. I will save in the years I don't have a claim (don't recall when I ever did) .... better make sure any accident is the other person's fault.... I've been whining about having to pay several hundred dollars more for this one car than my bill was for the 2 that I traded in since they paid me more than 12 thousand plus the new Encore to make the deal. Those 2 vehicles were much more expensive cars to repair or replace..... but insurance companies can do what they please~ I'm just a born complainer but "fair is fair".

Got to go face the heat.... several stops with the last at the grocery store for a box of ice cream bars.... I've been hitting them pretty hard lately, my comfort food. ;)  They don't have much milk in them compared with a bowl of ice cream. Chance of storms this evening, not much chance but I'll stand out in rain if we get any.

Oh, Joan, hate that "running late" excuse!  I know when they work me in it means everyone gets bumped down the line so appreciate their time but not hours.

Jackie, I've decided it is time to enjoy every day left, try for something to smile about.  Trouble with that is so much that needs to be done every day I'm running out of hours for fun.  "Worry about it tomorrow"...........

Amy

Joan, have all the vegetables cut up,onions zucchini, red and green peppers and now it sits for 6 hours. Had it judged just right that there was enough zucchini left over to make a zucchini bundt cake which is in the oven now. Will put some in the hidey hole for everyone when it is done.

Jackie, if it weren't for Dr/vet appointments we wouldn't go any where!! Already hubby has the first 3 Wed for Dr appointment and a trip to the hospital on the 22 .
I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.

Jackie and anyone else, I'd also like to eliminate car repair shops as an outing.  They always seem to hit the pocketbook pretty hard around here.  I had my car in for inspection thinking it might not cost an arm and a leg this time.  Unfortunately, I needed to replace a tire.  "Ching ching there go  the $$$.  Oh well, at least I have my wheels back and I don't feel abandoned.
