Call these appointments our new " social life..."

Well I must be a glutton for punishment as I have been looking up on Youtube the sounds I can expect from a CT scan compared to the sound of the MRI scanner,...... well the sounds of the MRI scanner sure brought back horrified memories of when I went under it, two times within a few weeks........At least the sound of the CT doesn't sound as bad, nor do I suspect it is as claustrophobic.....Well the various sounds have sure frightened R off.....only now do I think he believes me when I told him the noises from the MRI were loud, very LOUD....I recognised only too well, half a dozen of those sounds, including the pneumatic drill, ( jackhammer )........ ::)

JoanFL

Vanilla-Jackie--Running late DOES raise my BP.  A CT scan is MUCH easier than a MRI.

Shirley--I pay a little over $600 a year to insure my car.  When I had the two cars it wasn't much more than that.

Amy--I will check the hidey hole.  Thanks!!

Janie--We don't have car inspections here, but when we lived whey they did, they always found something wrong to get more $$ from me.  Maybe this intense heat rots the tire rubber?

Good morning folks!

Gloria, I cannot repeat enough...back up and keep the back up unplugged and away from the computer and then all you do after it is fixed or you have a new computer, just plug in and click everything back within 20 minutes or less.

I have my first Medicaid or Medicare, can never remember the proper name, doctor's visit Tuesday about my lack of balance happening so randomly. I'll see who pays what on that bill.

Farrah is a happy camper now that her wet food and treats have been restored, she doesn't know those treats will be severely rationed.

I went back on Facebook so if anyone needs a friend, I am taking limited applications. I have Ardith and Adrienne, Judy Laird and Pat Scott so I'm doing well.

Jackie, I have had a few cat scans, with no issues, apprehension or anything else other than removing earrings and remembering where I stuck them afterwards.

Good morning, Joan

halkel

Well I am back home and just finished a sandwich and a glass of milk.  Took the new vehicle back to dealer to have it detailed and all the stickers removed and ask a few questions.

Shirley, good thing I remembered what you said about the engine shutting off, cause mine does to, but as soon as you push on the foot feed it is off and running, I noticed it at first traffic signal this morning and again while waiting to pick up a taco in the window lane.  I also noticed it restarted on it's own when the car begin to heat up to bring a/c on. Shirley, Brandon is a studious individual and actually has a really good sense of humor.  He gets up very early every morning and studies/reads for about 2-3 hours, most times going to a Starbucks.  His wife is a great Lady, she is the handyman of the family and can do just about anything in or around the house.  And loves doing it.  She is a real fun person to be around.  You ought to see one project she did, taking a table lamp and making a ceiling light out of it.  You know she loves working with her hands when she wants hand/power tools as gifts.  :)

Had to laugh, dealership wanted a copy of my SOC card for something, they couldn't explain why, just that the needed it for ID, I told them tough luck, I don't have a SOC in my possession and one ask couldn't I go to SOC and get a duplicate, and I said nope, I have no intention of fighting the mob at SOC office. Also told them I had furnished all kinds of ID, including copy of my retirement ID from military which showed my ID and copies of my DD 214 (needed for military discount).  Also explained to salesman that nothing requires people to carry their SOC for any purpose except employment and I hadn't seen mine for at least 40 years.  I did ask them you want a copy of my MEDICARE card it has my SOC.  Otherwise they were just out of luck.   Boy business is getting as bad as the government about paperwork.  Being ornery I am just not going to play their game.

Jackie the MRI's always remind me of a rock and roll band and I am sitting next to the drummer.  It is boring and noisy.  But at one place they talk to me while the test was going on and kept giving me how much longer and what was going on and it made things much better.

Those of you talking about car insurance and house insurance, check with your local AAA, I think you will be surprised at how inexpensive they are.

I have written a book so I will shut up.  I think I heard the couch saying something.......

No one has ever asked me for my SS card.
(But I do happen to have one handy,
just in case) ...
My Medicare card is all I need these days
for ID, that and a drivers license or "State ID".

It is moderately hot here today on the
rocky coast of Maine... but the humidity
is not too high...  so it is comfortable.

Have a great day everyone !

Tonight's the night !  "Madam President" !

I do not carry my social security card or voter's registration because it is recommended not to in case of theft. I am lucky that a polling place is in our first floor common room, and my new Medicare card is all I carry besides my state ID.

Now, many years ago, my purse was stolen in Knoxville, Tennessee. Someone attempted to use my state ID but was apprehended as they apparently didn't look even close to the redhead I was back in the day.  They never tell you more or about how these things occurred do they? Inquiring mind want to know!

JaneS

I probably won't be back today as I am really and truly exhausted and I've been trying to get some things done for a week now.  I'm going to do them and rest and do them and rest and rest and rest and rest.

angelface--Hope you find out something about your balance problem when you visit your doctor.  Glad to hear Farrah is happy since you replenished her treats. :)

halkel--I have NEVER been asked for my SS number when purchasing a vehicle.

Sandy--I'll be glad when these political conventions are over.

Janie--I am sorry you are so very tired.  Try to get some good rest.

Vanilla, thank you, Dori was SO special. She made us laugh so hard at the character she portrayed, and ended the skit with Christian recognition in our lives. I was so proud of her, then after lunch was served she gave another speech which was so well received. For the shy little person that married my son, she has turned into a professional actress-entertainer. And she says it is all due to God. Wow..I am SO proud of her.

Gloria de, I think it is very interesting to learn about the Chronic Care Management. Especially since you live alone. It would be a big help to have someone come to the house each month rather than you having to go to a doctor. And you are familiar with the plan since your husband had it. I wish you the very best dear, and I'm sorry you got the infection in your leg wound. We heal so slowly when we age, you surely didn't need that added problem.

Bis, it can be very frustrating when you have an appt. and the doctor turns up an hour late. They should pay you rather that you paying them. I hope you had a good rest this afternoon.

Janie, you sound a bit stressed dear one. You take on too many problems of others methinks. It is time to take care of Jane. O.Kl ?

I am worn out tonight having been so stressed up with joy at our big party today. I even won a prize of a small box of See's candies, just by having the right ticket, plus the greatest thrill of seeing my Dori perform. She really makes herself the character she portrays, in out fits as well as personality. She was Zelda Zamboni today…a really great character. She started her skit with "Are any of you ladies pregnant?" So she had us all laughing before she had even begun. I am so very glad my Gary married this sweet girl.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Saw my friendly dentist today. No new cavities. Now how many of you get a hug from your dentist.  I was one of her first patients when she started working here in town. Her daughter was in elementary school then and now she is in college. She fixed y partial and now I can eat with it in. Great, now bring on the sweet corn.

JOAN  my partial is fixed and feels good now. She told me if it gives me any problems to call. I sent my grandson an SOS last night. When I got home today I had a reply. He will be here tomorrow morning. That means he will have enough time to check it out, get my Cox email back.

MARY ANN  I have been using Open Office since I got my first new computer. My grandson installed it and I set it for the way I use it and saved the settings.

PHYLLIS  today was more of the same here. Weather guessers are all saying rain tomorrow, between 2 -4 inches. Going to have some hard rain but the soft sinking in rain is what we really need. We have one lady here who wears a sweater or light jacket all summer. Was surprised a couple of days ago to see her without one. She is always cold and loves summer heat.

JUNE  so glad you got to see Dori doing one of her skits. Wish I was there to see her.

JACKIE  I would love to see Dori performing, too.

GLORIA de  this 4 day heat wave is the second heatwave this month. Usually gets that hot in August. That Chronic Care sounds like it would be great for you. Every time I have called HP I tell them this computer is no good and should be replaced. Wish my grandson was here when I called. He could explain the problems better than me.

JOAN  I have had to wait in a little cubicle at the office of the doctor I had. I could hear staff leaving for lunch and it got very quiet. OK I got my purse and walked toward the desk and there he was having a conversation with one of the female staff members. I asked if he forgot about me He said no was just going there. I said fine go there I am leaving and never went back there.

JACKIE  I guess I am lucky I only have 1 medical doctor, 1 eye doctor and 1 dentist.

SHIRLEY  these days I am glad I no longer have a car. Would not be able to afford the upkeep and insurance.

AMY  hope there is still some of that cake in the hidey hole. You know me and my sweet tooth would be happy. Wow my next appointments are with doctor in October, eye doctor In December and the dental hygienist in April. If anything comes up I can always call for an appointment to lose years of

JANE  when y 20 year old car finally died I didn't know what I would do but my son gave me he spare key for his van so I could go for groceries or the doctor. I always kept the tank full and when he needed tires I paid for 2 of them. Then when I had him go with me to see how I was doing after I had my shoulder done and could not make a sharp left turn, when we got back to the house I took the van key off my key ring and gave it back to him.

PATRICIA  before HP called yesterday I copied every thing I could to a new folder on the external and unplugged it. I sure would hate to lose all the PSP things I have collected over the years. I usually only plug it in if I a going to save something or do some PSP. My grandson set Facebook up on this PC. Only wanted to see the pictures he posts of the baby. All of a sudden I kept getting wanna be friends coming from all over. Not interested. I don't have time for that stuff.

HAL  when I went into my first apartment on my own my younger son got me tools. Nothing big or powerful. Just some things to help me do some things. Still have them but they no longer get used. The SS card was supposed to be a private thing not to be shown. Now seems everyone wants that number. One time I got a call, forget who he said he was , and he wanted my SS number, Told him you called me I did not call you so you do not get it. This was years ago before we started hearing about all the scams today. I had my car insured with the Hartford through AARP and it was not bad there either.

PATRICIA  I used to carry my SS card and copy of my birth certificate in my wallet. Then they started telling everyone not to carry it any more.

JUNE  glad you enjoyed seeing Dori perform today and some Sees chocolates on top of it. Now that was a good day for you. Glad I kept the paper in the last box of Sees my daughter sent me. Once she is living in Arizona she will not get to any of the Sees stores and I will have to order my own.

Have a good night everyone.

Wow, we have a storm coming through like gangbusters!  I just went down to the river with the cats & not even serious looking clouds.  Cats stayed down & hope they got to their hidey hole before the wind hit.  Heard on radio that already an 85 mph gust just a few miles away.  Lighting & hear a groan in the house, sounds like between walls & roof.... wood rubbing together.  Guess I should get off here, you think?    Haha, maybe it's that person hiding in here getting spooked!   :2funny:

Hal, my Escape would stall like that but when I "tromped" it expecting sort of passing gear.... it felt like the wind got knocked out & you know that empty feeling when that happens.  Especially with cars coming at you from every side. None of my extended family with Escapes ever had that problem.  I didn't realize how much bigger they are than this little Encore.  Have to put stuff on the back seat 'cause the trunk is so small.  But I just needed it for town driving, maybe a trip to KC a couple times a year at most.

Guess I'll grab a camera & look out the front door to see if trees are going down.  Really sounds nasty.  I'm on that west side of Wichita with all the bright reds....http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/wichita-ks/67202/weather-radar/348426

Gloria, I opened my See's candies the bulk of them are with lots of nuts,  so I will save those for Gary..he loves them too, but I'm enjoying the few creams.

I am fading fast, so will close now and get ready for bed. My housekeeper will be coming in tomorrow early to change my bed and linens, then later fo do what she calls "deep" cleaning. So I will be out of the apt. part of the day tomorrow. I'll just go to our lobby down the hall and read and relax. Life is good.

Sleep well dear hearts. I love you all, and so does God !
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Car Trouble

Jill's car was unreliable and she kept telling her husband John about it, but when he would drive it, it would always seem fine. So he dismissed it thinking that she was exaggerating. Then he got a call:

John: "Hi honey."

Jill: "My brakes went out. Can you come get me?"

John: "What!? Where are you?"

Jill: "I'm in the drugstore."

John: "And where's the car?"

Jill: "It's in here with me..."

Food For Thought

The Spirit and a Dime
(Written by Alan Johnson)

Several years ago a pastor moved to Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him ten cents too much change.

As he considered what to do, there alternately appeared to him little angelic figures sitting on his shoulders and whispering instructions into his ears. One said, "You better give the dime back. It would be wrong to keep it." On the other shoulder a voice said, "Oh forget it. It's just ten cents. Who would worry about this little amount. Anyway the bus company already gets too much fare. With their millions everyday they will never miss it. Accept it as a gift from God and keep quiet."

When his stop came he paused momentarily at the front door, and handing the driver the dime he said, "Here. You handed me too much change." The driver replied, "Aren't you the new pastor in town? I have been thinking lately about going to church somewhere. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you ten cents too much change."

When the pastor stepped off the bus he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, and held on, and said, "O God, I almost sold your Son for ten cents."

"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit." (Romans 8:5)

After a good night's sleep, a nice gentle rain and a good talk with Frankie and her mother, I feel somewhat better today.  Right now, the temp is 68º and heading for a high of 88 later today.  That's not too bad.  And I have a plan for today and some help to carry it out.  Frankie is going to do some of the cleaning to get ready for Beverly's visit and then on Saturday, she will move to my son's house for the time that Beverly is with me.  Sounds like a workable plan to me.

Amy, if you come in here soon, I wonder if you'd email me your recipe for zucchini pickles.  My neighbor gave me a gigantic zucchini yesterday and I have to do some things with it.  I think there might be enough for bread, too.  Gonna be a busy two days around here.

I think I'm over the hump.  Feel much better today!  I wish you all a wonderful day full of the love of God.

Jane I sent you the recipe and here is where I got the recipe for the yummy cake, I don't add the orange peel in it.

I thought maybe others would like to make it too, so easy to make and a nice moist cake.

Glad your feeling better and life seems to have a new out look on it for you and others.

Shirley, I hope you are safe!!!

Gloria, this recipe makes a big bundt cake and I did put some in the hidey hole for you.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

I am running a bit late so I had better get a move on.

Good morning everyone. Well it is raining but the heavy rain is due later. My grandson will be here is a little over an hour so will see if he can fix this machine. I think those HP techs (I question how much they know) have a one track mind. Restore to original when the original is flawed.

SHIRLEY  hope you post and let us know you and yours are OK after that storm.

JUNE  you have my mouth watering telling me about those
sees with the nuts. Yum.

JOAN  oh I used to love Frosted Flakes so will have that with a banana. Today's chuckles made me think of my daughter. She kept telling my SIL there was something wrong. Nothing happened till the day he drove it. It got fixed fast after that. The Spirit of a Dime is a keeper and a good one to share and I have copied it.

JANE  my daughter makes  zucchini relish and it is good. She sent me a jar of it.

AMY  that link with the cake looks like it would taste great. I will have the piece I got from the hidey hole with my coffee.

Guess I should bet a move on and do a few things before grson gets here.

All's well except someone in KS feels like she had a "knock down drag out" last night.  Think after feeding cats & moi, pushing the dumpster back to the street, I will get some more zzzzzzzzzzzs.   I had the dumpster out when my son called to warn about the wind & he agreed I'd better snug it up by the garage unless I wanted to pick all up after it blew over.  Rained off & on and haven't heard any news except from son, a house hit by lightning in his neighborhood & "have all the fire equipment from town".  The houses are large & lots small in that area so when fire & wind mix, no time to waste.

I seem to remember posting photos of my grands over in "Photos".... took me a while to remember how to put them in the Gallery to have the link to it.... and my fuzzy brain didn't think about bringing a link here so....( at least I think I posted photos.)   :crazy2:

JoanFL

Good morning, Gloria.  I hope your grandson is able to get your computer fixed.  I think your computer is a "lemon".

Shirley--Good morning.  Happy to see your post and know you are OK.  You had quite a night, and I hope you can get a good nap today.  Jace, Amelia, Kate Elizabeth, and their Dad and Hadley and Cole are a wonderful looking family.  Thanks for sharing them with us.

Hi everyone.  Another copycat day of the rest of this month.  I have completed my outside chores so hope to pretty much stay inside today unless we decide to go out for lunch as this is the morning for the Housekeeper to be here.

I had a very good nights sleep last night, over 8 hours and woke up with my hips joints not aching, which they had all day yesterday and evening.  When I went to bed last night I applied some Aspercream to each hip where it was hurting.  I will certainly try that again.

Joan, I found yesterday that you need to pick up your order on the day it is placed or it is cancelled out.  You would want to check to see if you could pick up the order in the drive thru land.  At the one we frequent you can but apparently all stores do not allow that.

Jackie, glad at least one of your worries was satisfied and hopefully these additional test and appointments will provide answer for you on the other problem.  I bet the doctors just hate the 10 minute rule.

Gloria, perhaps it is time to ask for a supervisor or manager with HP.  There must be something really wrong with that new computer and it unreasonable that you have to continually start with a fresh install.  Hopefully your calls to HP have been logged and thus they have a record of your frustrations.

deAngel, hope the infection is gone and the stitches removed.  Too bad you have to make another trip because of the red tape involved now in health care. It sounds like the Chronic Care Management would be a helpful thing to have.

JeanneP, I do not carry collision on my older car.

Hal, your grandson's wife sounds quite exceptional.

June, it sounds like Dori's performance was something not to be missed.

There are so many fine postings each day and I would like to respond to almost all of them but try to constrain myself here.  So I will just say bye for today.

Good morning everyone from another wet and soggy day here in the Interior.

Gloria de., I am glad that your grandson is getting out of the hospital, assisted living is still a step up. It will take a very long time for him to recovery. I remember my first husband broke his back in Vietnam, and it was a couple of years before he was physically able to return to duty and Vietnam. Afterwards, unfortunately, the war left him mentally scarred.

Angel, thanks for that uplifting post. as I thought it ment a step backward, and I was upset.  His mother of course its hopeing he gets a place near Niceville, where she lives. It has been along trip for here to Pensacola.

By the way, I did get my stitches out to day, it is still  a litle infected. Have to go back in a week.

I give up, made a new avatar of Tom & Tiger sleeping on MY cuddle blankie (they know they weren't supposed to be on it)... sleeping so innocently side by side.  Tried everything, got it resized and loaded into My Gallery but none of the links puts it into my profile.  I hated looking at the selfie I updated to at one time so thought it would be nice to see the kids.  Just isn't working & I'm through for this day!  Got the photos of the great grands posted last night & posted over in Photos & thought "while on a roll....."  Was a one time fluke. I need a nap~

GloriaD, so sorry your gr-son's problems are lingering so long, at least there is hope he will walk again.  He will be in my prayers as long as needed.

Joan, when my best friend's son went to camp she would call to read his letters to me.  She didn't know if to laugh or go get him with his dangling mentions of daily activities, never finished what happened after...... She had no brothers and sent her older son to visit his grandmother & aunts that lived on farms, instead of summer camp, so really didn't know about boys and their adventures.  I'm sure F is pleased & proud to get your mail every day.  During WWII my mother wrote both of my brothers every day & they thanked her many times when they got home.  Unlike some of the guys, they had lots of mail at every mail call.

I'll check the link, Chia, thanks!
